In today's episode, you will be learning exactly how to microdose psilocybin magic mushrooms from start to finish. Welcome to microdose you. I've been microdosing magic mushrooms for over five years now. Yes, you heard that right, over five years. And in these five years plus, I've learned a lot. Also, I've published hundreds of episodes explaining how to microdose the benefits, the difficulties. You name it. I've talked about it in these past five years. But today is going to be different. Today I'm going to share with you what I know is going to be the absolute most comprehensive guide to microdosing magic mushrooms from scratch, from zero. If you don't know anything at all, and even if you do, even if you're experienced, there is a lot to learn here. This is going to be the best episode ever released on this topic ever.
And I'm not just talking about on my podcast or on my YouTube channel. I'm talking about anywhere in the world. This is going to be the number one resource for you if you're interested in changing your life, changing your life in a way you've never imagined because you can do this. And I'm going to share every detail with you in this episode. I'm going to start off by explaining exactly what is microdosing. What does it mean to microdose? And not only that, but who is it for? We've got a lot to talk about today. So let's get started. And first, we'll talk about what exactly is microdosing? What is microdosing magic mushrooms? Siliciba. And also, real quickly, but very importantly, I want to make it very clear that nothing I share with you in this episode is to be taken as medical advice. I suggest you talk to your doctor, your healthcare professional for your medical advice. I'm sharing my story here, my story for over five years, not only me personally, but
how many of my followers and people in my community have been extremely successful over the past many years. I'm sharing a lot of this information. However, again, it's not to be taken as medical advice. Okay, so let's talk about what is microdosing? Well, I guess the simplest definition is microdosing is taking a very small dose of a, in this case, we're using a psychedelic, so of a mushroom. This case, we use mushroom as the example, taking a very small dose of a psychedelic mushroom. Well, we used to call it subperceptual, which means you don't perceive anything. You don't feel anything whatsoever. But I prefer to call it sub psychedelic or, and Dr. Denise, you're going to be meeting her real soon. She likes to call it sub intoxicating, meaning that you feel something, but you're totally fine and you can go about your daily routine, whatever you have to do, work, drive, look after your kids, anything is okay because it's sub psychedelic, sub intoxicating.
Even though you might feel a really nice feeling, you're absolutely totally functional. When people think of using mushrooms, psychedelic mushrooms, or LSD, or some type of a psychedelic, you know, probably what you thought is, man, you're going to go with this deep psychedelic trip and you're not going to be functional for many, many hours. And that's true if you use a regular large dose of these psychedelics. But the problem is, you can only do that so often, or you're going to build up a tolerance. Because you can't function. So how many times a week can you take a deep trip because you've got other responsibilities. It doesn't really work like that. That's why microdosing is so appealing because it doesn't change anything that you do, but it works. And I think this would probably be a good time when I say, when it works, what does that mean? It works. Microdosing magic mushrooms actually changes the neural pathways in your brain. Let's just use the example of you have anxiety or depression or both.
They go together often times. Maybe your doctor prescribed you an antidepressant, an SSRI. SSRI stands for selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor. Very commonly prescribed for anxiety and depression. And fine, they work. They work somewhat. They don't work 100% but they work somewhat. But as soon as you stop taking them, you're back to exactly the way you were. They don't change anything. They just allow just more serotonin into your brain. But as soon as you stop, it goes back to the way it was. You're anxious and you're depressed. Nothing changes. But with microdosing magic mushrooms, it actually changes the neural pathways in your brain for the better. So, and we're going to talk about this later in this episode. Your brain is rewired. So theoretically, once your brain is rewired, you don't have to continue microdosing. Now there are reasons people do continue, including myself and we will talk about that. But you may not have to because your neural pathways are actually rewired.
So that's what microdosing is. It's the ability to take a very small and generally it's about one-tenth of the amount of a typical, I should just say, typical dose of magic mushrooms, about one-tenth. And in a few minutes, we'll talk about that as far as what that means as far as in milligrams or grams. We'll talk about that. We're going to cover everything today. And I've got a really nice outline that we're going by. So we're not going to miss anything. And just in case you're curious, nothing here is scripted. I'm not using a teleprompter. I'm speaking from my heart and from my brain, from five plus years of experience of doing this. Because I think that would be much better. I'm actually speaking to you. I'm not just reading a teleprompter. I'm speaking on a topic that I know a lot about only because I've been doing it for quite some time. And I'm really happy to share all of this information with you because I think this is going to be a really great quick start for you. You're going to pretty much know everything you need to know or pretty almost to start microdosing magic mushrooms if that's what you want to do.
And don't worry, if you have a question, it's most likely going to be answered in this episode. I can almost promise you. So just bear with me. Now, who is microdosing for? Well, I would say this. The most common reasons people begin microdosing, matching mushrooms. And this is the reason I started because of anxiety and depression or some type of a mental health issue. Let's just say mine happened to be anxiety and depression, mostly anxiety, but a little bit of depression in there as well. But many people use it for depression, severe depression. Some people use it for PTSD post-traumatic stress disorder. I had some PTSD. Now, it was not from the military. I was never a policeman, never a firefighter, nothing like that. But believe it or not, I had some PTSD from a previous marriage. It was really, really tough on me. So mainly for these mental health issues, I began microdosing matching mushrooms a little over five years ago. But besides depression, anxiety, PTSD, there are many reasons why people microdose psychedelics.
And over the five years, plus I've used them for many reasons besides the mental health issues, because quite honestly, it took care of my anxiety and depression fairly quickly. But I did not stop. And what I found is that microdosing has really allowed me to understand my life so much better. I feel like I have a better grasp on what's going on. Why are we here? What is everything? I don't pretend to know all of that, but I have a little bit of a better grasp. And it's also helped me with things such as business, relationships, athletics, sports. I live here in Utah and I ski. And it's very common before a ski day, I will go ahead and take a microdose. Same thing before going to the gym. Same thing before a bicycle ride. Microdosing gives more clarity to your life. If that makes any sense, more clarity. You can see things clearer. You can do things better. Everything magic mushrooms has helped me with my physical health.
By the way, everything is connected. And when you start to understand what's going on in your life, what's going on with your body, what you can do to improve your physical health. Yes, it absolutely is a factor. And again, that's one of the reasons why I continue to microdose. It is helping me with so many things in my life. I'm basically a different person than I was five and a half years ago. Before I started microdosing, my anxiety was so bad and I felt so horrible about myself that oftentimes I would just spend a good part of the day on the sofa. Just feeling tired, feeling like I was anxious, didn't know what to do. And it was very tough to make plans because I didn't know if I had made plans for like a few days in advance how I would be feeling that day. It was really tough. And I started with lexapro antidepressant. My doctor gave that to me. And lexapro is a good pharmaceutical. There's nothing wrong with it. I'd say it improved. It helped me. I'd say in the 60 to 65% range something like that.
It made me feel about 65% better. But I don't know about you. I do not want to live a 65% lifestyle. And I had enough of that. And that's why five plus years ago, I really started to research psychedelics, magic mushrooms in particular. Because I wanted to live a life where every day or close to every day, I felt like the old me. I felt like myself. I felt like I could get up and do anything I wanted. I wanted to feel good. And that's why I began. And I will tell you something. It's been a journey. No pun intended. It's been the best journey of my life. There are other reasons why people like to begin microdosing. There are some medical issues out there that again, there's no real scientific studies that are saying microdosing is going to take care of these issues. But just from anecdotal stories that we've heard over many years now, people are using microdosing for things like stuttering, for things like ADHD, OCD, even Parkinson's. I've got somebody who's in our Patreon group right now who is telling us that it's really
helped his Parkinson's. He feels better than he's felt in years. We've heard of people using it to calm the effects of things like Lyme disease. Although immune diseases, microdosing magic mushrooms can help with so many things beyond the typical mental health issues that we think about and that we talk about. So I hope this is beginning to come together a little bit. What is microdosing, who is microdosing for? And one of the first things that might come to your mind now is microdosing safe. Well, guess what? I've invited my good friend and colleague and faculty member here at microdose you, Dr. Denise Mored. She's Dr. of psychology extremely experienced with psychedelics, plant medicine. She has an episode on the same channel every weekend she comes out with once. So I'd like to introduce Dr. Denise to you and she's going to share with you is psilocybin safe. And then I'll be right back.
Hi, I'm Dr. Denise. I'm a doctor of psychology. I'm also on faculty here at microdose you. And Dr. Dave asked me to come talk today about the safety of microdosing psilocybin. A very important topic to consider and look at as you are microdosing. So just a couple of points. Psilocybin microdosing is among the safest activity and substance that anyone can use basically on the planet. Things like sugar, tobacco, alcohol, far more toxic and dangerous. So we know that psilocybin, even as I said macrobosis, are particularly safe. There are no documented negative toxic effects even through thousands of years of civilizations using even higher doses of psilocybin. So again, microdosing a much smaller dose is particularly safe.
No known documented negative toxic effects at all. So you will hear about comments, concerns, about safety. Is it a problem because it might raise blood pressure? My kind of cause of valve issues. So here's what we know about that. Basically, no. Now, we always say this is not medical advice. Of course, make sure you stay on top of your health. Talk to your healthcare team. If you have concerns about blood pressure or valve issues, we always say check with your team, your healthcare team. And yet, when we read those cautions about cardiac health, blood pressure, valve issues, it really turns out that there isn't a lot of research showing that those are issues. As well as you might have heard about the serotonin function and that serotonin is increased with microdosing and isn't that going to be a concern and you might have heard about serotonin syndrome. Again, turns out not to be true. So part of what happens in our literature and sometimes even with some research, whether
it's animal research or research that's with humans is if something could be a concern, they flag it as a concern. And yet, we really have not seen any documented ill effects, anything like serotonin syndrome. So again, read the information and yet what I'm here to say is that microdosing psilocybin is completely safe and we know that the risks are non-existent. And I always say probably the biggest issue is somebody taking too high of a dose, perhaps, when they meant to microdose and maybe they took more than they realized that they're trying a new medicine. It's a different variant. It's a little more potent and they find themselves maybe feeling a little medicine a little bit more than intended. And even that, it's not dangerous or unsafe. Feeling that way is going to pass in a very short time. I always say have a little herbal tea, some water, have a light snack, take a little walk.
It's going to pass very quickly. So it may be kind of a mild, unpleasant issue, but not an issue of safety. There is really no issues of safety. And if you're concerned, we always say we're closely with your medical team and ensure that you're well informed. So that's what we hear to do for you. It was help you stay safe, keep informed, and understand the data that's out there and the articles and the concerns. So I hope that's helpful and I'll turn it right back over to you, Dr. Dave. Thank you, Dr. Denise. I really appreciate that. Let's talk for a second about what amount constitutes a microdose. The microdose of psilocybin is very roughly 50 milligrams to 300 milligrams, something in that range, 50 to 300 milligrams of dried ground up mushrooms. This is very important.
It's not 50 milligrams of psilocybin. It's totally different within the mushroom. See the mushroom weighs something and there's psilocybin contained in the mushroom. So when you're grinding up a mushroom, and by the way, it's very important to have the mushroom ground up. And please don't worry, you don't have to do any of this on your own. This can all be done for you. We're going to talk about this in this episode. Don't worry, we have a lot to talk about, but we have to do a little bit at a time. But please don't get freaked out because you don't have to know all of this. So again, getting back to this, we're talking about 50 milligrams of dried ground up mushrooms that's very different than 50 milligrams of psilocybin. Now why do we talk about dried ground up mushrooms? Because if you just were out somewhere and you found a psychedelic mushroom and you took it out of the ground and just took a bite of it, who knows how much psilocybin you're going to get. The psilocybin is not evenly distributed throughout the mushroom. There may be more psilocybin contained in the cap.
The stalk may not have as much, but every mushroom is different. You might get one mushroom where there's a lot in the stalk and not as much in the cap. It's very hard to say that's why when we take our mushrooms, drive them out, grind them up like kind of coffee grinder. So it's a fine powder. And that's when you weigh it. You don't do it any other way. Please trust me on this. But again, don't worry, you don't have to do this. And I'll share with you really soon why you don't have to mess with any of this stuff. You don't want to. I also want you to be able to convert between milligrams and grams very easily, very quickly in your head or else you might get messed up. So when I said the range of a microdose is anywhere between 50 milligrams and 300 milligrams of ground up dried mushroom, 50 milligrams, sometimes people refer to it in grams. And all you have to do is take the decimal point at the end of the 50, which is after the zero, move it to the left three places. So one, two, three places that turns out to be 0.05 grams.
Very importantly, you do understand this. And the high limit of the microdose, 300 milligrams, okay, how many grams is that? 300 milligrams is, I'll give you a second, if you said 0.3 grams, you're correct. 300, you take the decimal point at the end, you move it over three places to the left. And that would be 0.3 grams. Okay, here's another quick quiz. 0.25 grams of magic mushrooms. 0.25 grams, how many milligrams? Quickly. If you said 250 milligrams, you're absolutely correct. So just see if you can visualize how to do that back and forth. It is important. So again, I'll give it to you in grams now. A microdose is anywhere from 0.05 grams of ground up magic mushrooms to 0.3 grams. And that equals 50 milligrams to 300 milligrams. Now it's not an exact science. If you said, well, I really enjoy dosing 350 milligrams, that's my microdose.
I'm not going to yell at you. It's okay. You're going to find out from a lot of things we say today, it's not an exact science. It's not like taking a pharmaceutical or an XSRI or anything like that where you've got to be pretty exact. It's not like that at all. You have a lot of latitude, but you still need to know the principles. Now you might be thinking, well, okay, if a microdose is somewhere between 50 milligrams and 300 milligrams, how do I know what to start with? That's a great question. I used to have people start off very, very, very low. Then I said, you know, that's a little bit crazy. I think they should be starting off a little bit higher. I've kind of reached a happy medium. If I had to give you a number, and again, it just depends on you. There is some experimentation with this. If I had to give you a number of what I think you should actually start with, I would say 150 milligrams. Again, that's not 150 milligrams of psilocybin. Please understand that. That would be way too much. It's 150 milligrams of dried ground up magic mushroom into a fine powder.
It's evenly distributed, so it's going to be accurate 150 milligrams. Now I'd say that's a really good starting dose. If you want to start at 100, there's nothing wrong with that. If you want to start with 200, nothing wrong with that. When I first started, I do believe I started with 200 milligrams, and I was totally fine and it worked very, very well. But if people ask me, well, I have no idea where should I start. I'm going to say a good starting dose is 150 milligrams. How do you figure out what's 150 milligrams? We're going to get to that. Don't worry. We're going to make this really, really easy for you. For now, just make a note of that, the recommended starting dose is about 150 milligrams. Now, how do you actually dose the psilocybin? How do you actually dose the magic mushrooms? Again, I do not advise just getting a hold of some mushrooms and taking a big bite. That's the worst possible way to do it. I would not do that at all. I would not recommend it. It's too inaccurate. You're not going to know what you're getting, even if you put them on a scale.
Again, like I said, the psilocybin is not evenly distributed in these mushrooms. If you put something on a scale and take a big bite out of it, you don't know if you're getting a part of the mushroom. It's highly saturated with the psilocybin or a part of the mushroom that has almost no psilocybin. That's why I go back again. You don't take a bite out of mushrooms. You grind them up into a fine powder way at that way. But again, you don't have to do that. This can be all done for you. I will share this with you. The most common ways to consume magic mushrooms are capsules, which means it's ground up into a fine powder and started into capsules. It's pre-wade. So when you take a capsule, when you eat a capsule or swallow a capsule, you know almost exactly how much you're getting. Again, you can have them weighed out to 150 milligrams of dried powder. Then it's pretty accurate. You're swallowing a capsule that has 150 milligrams. It's a great starting dose. Sometimes people consume psilocybin mushrooms baked into chocolate bars.
Yes, I happen to love those because not only do they taste great, but you're getting psilocybin in your chocolate. So it's kind of like a double whammy. It's beautiful. And yes, chocolate bars, very, very common. And the cool thing about it is there's something in chocolate. I think it does facilitate the uptake of the psilocybin. So it's kind of like a pretty cool double whammy. Chocolate bars are wonderful. I love them. Some people actually take the psilocybin, the ground up psilocybin, put them in little tea bags and steep them in hot water. And what happens is the psilocybin gets extracted from the fine ground up powder in the tea bag and works its way into the hot water. Just like tea, just like tea would do that. You're taking the chemical out of the tea leaf and it gets into the hot water and that's what makes tea taste so good. Well, the same thing with psilocybin. You can actually have them placed in tea bags, steep them in hot water for you know, a few minutes. And then when you drink the tea, you're drinking the psilocybin. Yes, it's wonderful. Many people do it like that too. And it's also very helpful for people that have GI or stomach issues with eating mushrooms.
This way with the tea, you're just really extracting the psilocybin out of the tea and you're not really consuming the mushroom itself. So a lot of people with you know, stomach issues and people that with some people, mushrooms make them little, you know, not feel so great because there's a digestion process in there. The hard coating of the mushroom is called kaitin. For some people, it's a little bit difficult to digest that and it makes them a little queasy or some, you know, it doesn't make them feel good. So that's why tea comes into playing tea works very well. I'll give you one more little tip about how to consume it. And this again is for people that have a little bit of a difficult time digesting the mushrooms. Some people use a process that's called lemon tech. And lemon tech is actually very simple. Picture a little dish, you know, if you go to like a Japanese sushi restaurant, the little dish that has the soy sauce that you put soy sauce in, a little dish like that. You can put your powder, your mushroom powder, let's say 150 milligrams in the little dish, squeeze a half a lemon onto that, make it into like a little paste, a little slurry
stir it together. Just picture it's going to be like a little pasty thing because you've got the powder and then the lemon juice. Let it sit there for about 10 minutes or so. And then you could just swallow it like that, slurp it down, mix it in a drink, put it in oatmeal, any way you want. Anything's okay as long as you swallow it. What that does, it pre-digests the mushroom for you. So what would be digesting in your stomach is taking place in a little dish outside of your stomach. So again, it's much easier on your stomach to do the lemon tech procedure. Also since it's pre-digesting it, it's going to feel stronger. It's 50% stronger than if you just ate the mushroom itself. So when you're using a lemon tech procedure, make sure you understand the dose. And I would actually ease up on the dose a little bit and test that first because 150 milligrams of ground up magic mushrooms, when you do a lemon tech, it could feel like 200 to 250 milligrams. So you just have to be a little bit careful until you're used to that. But lemon teching is very convenient, it's very easy and it's again for people that want
the mushroom to take effect a lot faster because it does that because it's pre-digesting it as well as it can alleviate or it can mitigate some discomfort in your stomach or a GI system if you're truly or sensitive to eating mushrooms. As far as what I like to do, I generally just use capsules or chocolate. Both of those work extremely well for me. Nothing bothers my stomach. But everybody's different. And if it does bother your stomach, it's not super common, but some people do have some issues with it. Then you can do tea or the lemon tech as well. I'd like to introduce another one of our faculty members here at Microdose U. Her name is Janelle. And Janelle is going to be talking to us about which strains of psilocybin are the best for microdosing. Hi, I'm Janelle. I have a question that Dr. Dave wanted me to address that has been coming up really a lot since I've started helping people use mushrooms.
And that is which variety is best. The answer to that is a little complex and a little bit nuanced, but I can kind of get into what I think about what variety is best and what we use. Really when we're speaking about varieties, a lot of times people are talking about the same species. They're also loss of e-cubesist. But there's a million different varieties. There's actually new ones being isolated every day. So it is hard to keep up. And there's a lot of different names out there. And they can be distracting. They can be a little confusing. And again, a lot of people get kind of hung up on which is best, which do you use, which should I start with. And the short answer to that would be that all psilocybinicubesist varieties are very similar. Your genetic diversity is not really seen until you start finding the land-race varieties like Burma's and Cambodians and things like that that are found in the wild. Those have a little more minor alkaloid content and they might range in experience a little
more. So then all the isolated varieties, which are essentially like in-bred. And so they keep in breeding and they keep getting more of the desired outcome, I suppose. But they're not going to range too much. If you're looking for a range in experiences, I might encourage looking into other types of hallucinogenic mushrooms because they have a much larger genetic diversity. When we're talking about psilocybin, we are mostly talking about psilocybin and psilocybin. When you digest the mushrooms, the psilocybin converts to psilocybin. And so psilocybin is really like the important alkaloid here at play that does a lot of the work. However, it's not as stable as psilocybin. So for that reason, psilocybin is more commonly used terminology when you're talking about the psychoactive alkaloids in the Cubesist mushrooms. So beyond psilocybin and psilocybin, there are minor alkaloids that do play a role in how
the mushroom experience might be. However, these minor alkaloids have not been studied to be psychoactive. So how they modulate the experience is kind of anybody's guess at this point because it hasn't been thoroughly studied. So what I'm saying is that these minor alkaloids and the potency are at play in what makes a Cubesist different from a different Cubesist. So those things may range a little bit and they may play into the experience. And I can tell you that I've tried over 20 varieties of Cubesist mushrooms and which ones best, I think they all because they all contain essentially the same alkaloids that are at play. Best is very subjective and you can really have like an experience that leans one way say like I'm feeling so creative from this variety that I tried and then try that same variety, same dose at a different time and not feel that creativity maybe you feel a little more like emotional that time.
And that I think has more to do with your set and setting than the type of mushroom that you consume. I've tried to research it and I've tried to pick out differences between different Cubesist and it my research is not consistent. I never had a consistent like this one always leans this direction, this one has this personality. A lot of it would depend on my set and setting. So when you ask which is best, it can be really nuanced and very subjective and so I always say the best kind is one that you can source safely from somebody and consistently. So the mushroom that we use in the majority of our products is Melmack. That's a type of Cubesist and why did we pick Melmack? Is it the best? We picked Melmack to be completely honest because it was a prolific grower for us. It was producing a lot of mushrooms and when you try to grow in bulk that's always a good quality. But beyond that it's decently potent and I've had good experiences with it just like
using comparing it against different types of mushrooms. I think the biggest range is in their potency which it's been studied by high-fail labs to vary as much as 400% within the same tub even. So you can grow mushrooms together in one tub and their potency can vary up to 400%. This is wild. So how do you know if one you're eating is going to be super potent versus one being super weak? How is that going to be different? My solution to that is to make a giant batch powder when I make my products and so that way you're hopefully evening out the potency. But yeah, we use Melmack in our products because it's decently potent and it grows well for us and because it is also very similar to most of the other Cubans is out there. With that said, there are certain isolations that are isolated for their unique qualities. A lot of times, isolations are made due to potency. So what we're finding is there's more and more potent varieties out there but it will
be impossible to keep up because you can isolate new varieties and it happens all the time. But they're not going to be significantly different from one another. I hope that I was able to break it down in a way that makes sense. Hey, thanks so much, Janelle. Really appreciate that great little segment on the difference in varieties or strains. I want to clarify one thing. Janelle mentioned the terms set and setting quite a bit and I was going to talk about that a little bit later in this episode. But since she just mentioned those terms, I want to go ahead and explain what they mean to you if you're brand new to this. Set is just another way of saying your mindset and setting is where you actually are. Let's take set, for example, your mindset. It does matter. More so for a larger dose but in a way, you know, microdose yet sure can affect that as well. Picture you just got into a fight with your partner. You're both angry as hell at each other. That's the mindset you're in before you take your microdose.
To contrast that picture, your partner just gave you a beautiful, long, good morning hug. Your mind is going to be in two different places. Now, that's not to say you can't microdose if something bad just happened, but you could get two different feelings from the same variety or from the same strain. And setting is, well, where you are. There's a very good chance that the medicine is going to feel a little bit differently if you microdose and then you're walking down the strip in Las Vegas with all of the noise and the people and the commotion and all the craziness as opposed to you take a hike on a very quiet trail in the woods. Totally different settings. You're going to probably get different feelings from that microdose. Now again, it's not to say you can't use the microdose in different settings, but just be aware of your settings. And I would say, you know, the more peaceful of a setting, the more favorable of a feeling you're going to be getting from the microdose. But I think most importantly, and if I could just reiterate what Janelle was saying, don't be a strain chaser.
Well, there have been so many people that we've worked with that didn't want to get started until they found that perfect variety or perfect strain. No, don't do that. See, again, you don't have to know everything. I trust Janelle because her mushrooms are reliable, sourced responsibly, and most importantly, they work. So why do I need to go and know the names of 50 different strains? Why do I, no, I don't have to know that. And you don't have to know that either. And that's what Janelle is pretty much trying to let us know there. Don't let chasing different strains stop you or deter you from your microdosing journey. You will be wasting your time. I promise you. Just go with what works. Trust the medicine and you will be fine. Speaking of the medicine, I know what you're thinking right now. You're wondering, where can I get psilocybin? Where can I get this medicine? And I want to tell you, we will be getting to that a tiny bit later in the program, but we've got a lot to cover before we get to the topic of where to get psilocybin magic
mushrooms. So let's talk just for a couple of minutes about what does a microdose feel like? Because I think this is the point where many people get tripped up and they get worried and they get afraid and they don't ever get started. Because they're worried that a microdose is going to feel like you're very high, you're tripping, you're seeing colors, you're seeing patterns, you're in another universe. No, no, no. That is not what a microdose is about. Remember what I told you already? A microdose is sub psychedelic, sub intoxicating. Yes, you're going to feel a little something, but you're going to be totally functional. Let me just take you back real quickly to the very first time I microdose because I was a little afraid too. I didn't know what it would feel like. You know, I grew up in the 60s and 70s and everybody around me was using psychedelics and all kind of drugs. And the most I ever used was really cannabis. I never used any type of psychedelics. So here, fast forward to current times, I was a little bit concerned. I was afraid I was going to eat this capsule and I was going to go on some kind of weird
trip and I was going to be totally out of it. So I remember swallowing in the capsule, waiting for a little while, no dramatic change in any way. I went across the street from my house. There's a little park there. I kind of lay down on the grass. I put some earbuds in, I listened to some music and it was just wonderful. After about 30 or 45 minutes, I started feeling maybe a little bit of a change, but hardly perceptual. It was totally fine. And any change that I did feel, it was very positive. There was nothing negative about it. Just imagine yourself during the course of the day, feeling like yourself, but feeling somewhat better, feeling a little bit more elevated, a little bit more positive, a little bit more with it, a little bit of just a better feeling. That's what a microdose feels like and it's nothing more than that really. So there's nothing to worry about. You can be totally functional. However, I do recommend the very first time you ever take a microdose. Do it on a day that you have plenty of free time.
You're not working. You don't have responsibilities. You don't have to watch the kids. You don't have to drive. Just for the first time, just to make absolutely sure. And just so I can prove to you that there's really nothing to this. And then you'll see that it will be okay for you to start using or dosing this medicine on a regular basis. So that's something you're going to do. You're going to do this little test and you're going to find out that you can do this. And this is not a barrier to getting started. Now here's something else you're likely thinking. And I want to go ahead and take care of this little roadblock as well. You're probably thinking, well, I've tried so many things. Nothing has really worked well for me. So how do I know microdosing, psilocybin is going to work? Well, let me answer that for you. Whereas there's no guarantee because everybody is different. It will work for the vast majority of people. So yes, it's most likely going to work for you. Can I tell you 100% no of course not because we're all human beings.
These different, everybody's body works differently. So no, there's nothing in this world that's 100% guaranteed. However, if you follow what I'm sharing with you here, follow the protocol. Do it exactly the way I discuss here. Then I would give it a very, very high probability that it is going to work for you. If it's anxiety, depression, PTSD, something else that you're working on that you want to improve. It's extremely likely it's going to work for you, although I can never give you that 100% guarantee. Just because there's no 100% guarantee in life. But I will tell you this and this is what I've seen from people who claim it doesn't work. They try it. They try it once or twice. There's no dramatic overnight change. So they quit or they kind of taper off or they kind of just forget about it or they try something else because this doesn't work. That is a guaranteed recipe for failure. I promise you, if you don't follow along with what we have to say here, I promise you
it's not going to work. I've worked with people personally and they start off and they say they feel great. But then for some reason, life gets in the way. They forget to use the plant medicine. They come up with some reason why they're not doing it anymore. They forgot. They got out of the habit. And then of course, they tell me, well, it didn't work. Well, yes, it didn't work because you stopped it. So if you follow the protocol that we're going to share with you here, if you follow everything, then I can give you a close to guarantee that, yes, this will work for you. There's a group of people that we've worked with that I want to call them drifters because what happens is they start, but then they hear from a friend that something else is better and then they read something that there's another medicine that might be better and what they drift from protocol to protocol, from medicine to medicine. They stop. They start. These are the types of people that it won't work for, the drifters. So if you're focused, if you stick with the program, do the way we say, don't listen
to everybody else that's giving you their peace of mind, their advice because if you do that, then I can promise you it will not work for you. So you might be saying to yourself, this all sounds pretty good. I think I'm going to start. So my question to you is when is the best time for you to start? And I'm going to go ahead and answer that. The best time for you to start is right now. This may sound crazy to you, but I've literally had people message me and email me and tell me that they've been looking into this for many months or sometimes even a year or two years and they're thinking about getting started. My response to them is, what are you waiting for? What are you thinking about for a year or for two years? This is lost time already. This is one to two years that you could have been feeling much better and you're still researching this. There's nothing really to research. You're either going to say, I'm in or this is not for me. And I really hope it's the former. I really hope you say, I'm in because this is life changing.
Now again, I'm not here to beg anybody. I'm not here to push you into doing something that you're not comfortable with. But if this is something that you're seriously interested in and you really want to change your life and you want to feel better, then the time is now. There's really no reason to say, well, I'm going to wait until the scientific research tells me that it's fine. Well, guess what? If you're thinking that, then there's never going to be the right time. So if you want to wait and wait and wait, that's up to you. I don't recommend it five and a half years ago. When I heard about this, when I thought it might be a possibility, I did a little bit of reading really quickly and within days. Literally within days, I started because I wanted to feel better. So to answer the question, when is the best time to start? It is right now. As soon as you finish listening to or watching this episode, now is the time. How often do I microdose? How often do I take my psilocybin?
There are a lot of opinions out there. I'm going to talk about the most common protocols and then I'm going to give you what I believe from my five plus years of experience of microdosing and working with a lot of different people as well. I'm going to give you what I believe is the best way to do it. So let's get started. The two most common protocols out there, I would say are the Fatimen, the Fatimen Protocol, James Fatimen and the Stammits Stack. Both of those are very, very popular. They're very different from each other. I'm going to share both of those with you and then I'll tell you what I think is perhaps the best. So with the Fatimen Protocol, Dr. Fatimen recommends dosing on day one and then taking two days off. Now right now, we're not talking about how large your dose is. We've already discussed that. But let's just say your dose is 150 milgram. Let's just say that, .15 grams. So with Fatimen Protocol, you would go ahead and dose that on day one and then you would
take the next two days off. You wouldn't do anything. You would just do some of your integration work, your journaling, whatever else you're doing, but you wouldn't dose on those two days. And then on day four, you start your dose again and then you follow that by two more days off. I know this is a common protocol. I know that Dr. Fatimen has been talking about this for quite some time. I personally don't think it's enough. I believe that you need to be micro dosing the psilocybin more often than once every three days for it to be the most effective. But again, it's only my opinion, but my opinion does come from five plus years worth of working in this field. Another very common protocol is called the Stamets Stack. And of course that comes from Paul Stamets, who arguably could be the leading myologist in the world. You know, this guy knows his stuff. There is no question about that. So what Paul Stamets recommends is combining your psilocybin, combining your psilocybin with
Lyon's main mushroom as well as Niacin. Niacin is vitamin B3, actually. And the thingy behind that is that Niacin causes a little bit of a flush. It's a vasodilator. So the thought process behind that is that the psilocybin is going to get into your bloodstream faster when your vessels are dilated a little bit. So the Lyon's main mushroom, which is also very good for cognitive functioning. I take that every day no matter what. Now Paul Stamets recommends doing this four days in a row and then taking three days off and then repeating four more days in a row, three days off and continuing that process. That's what Paul recommends. And again, either Fatimen or Stamets, I don't think you're going to go wrong because again, these guys really know what they're talking about. There's no question. However, here at MicroDose U, we have developed what we call the MicroDose U Protocol. And if you're watching this on video, you can see I'm holding this up right here.
I'm going to go ahead and don't worry. I'm going to make this available as a PDF download or some type of an electronic download. So don't worry. I'll make this available to you at some point very, very soon. I'm still working that out. I'm really proud of the MicroDose U Protocol. The reason I'm really proud of this now is because it's very flexible. It's not rigid. It's not like you have to do it this way or you're not doing it right. So let me share with you what we've come up with. And this has taken five plus years to come up with a protocol like this. And I got to admit, I'm pretty proud of it because I think this is going to help a lot of people. So with the MicroDose U Protocol, we have five different options. You pick your option. And once you pick your option, you pretty much stick to it. It's not the kind of thing that you flip, flop back and forth. So even though it's very flexible, once you pick the way you want to do it, you have to stick with that for at least a month just to give it a shot. So the five options are this. Option number one is two days on and one day off.
So you go ahead and you dose for day one, then day two, then you take a day off, then you start over day one, day two, day off. That's the first option. You can choose that and there's absolutely nothing wrong with it. That's why we have it is option number one. Option number two is very similar, but it's three days on and one day off. So again, dose one day, day two, day three, then you take one day off, then you start over again. Option three, we're just going to take it for four days, four days on, one day off. And then repeat. Option four. This one is four days on and two days off. So you dose for four, you know, day one, day two, day three, day four, then you take two days off and then you start over again. And option five is five days on and two days off. So you've got your choice. I don't want to be rigid because there's some people that just don't want to dose that often.
And if that's the case, you know, you can go ahead and do two days on and one day off and that would be fine. But for those of you that want to dose more often, you could take option three and that's four days on and one day off. So basically what that means is you're getting, I didn't do the math, but you're getting about six or seven days off during the month, roughly, rough numbers. Now here's the thing. Once you choose your option, I want you to stick with that option for at least a month because if you're flip flopping back and forth, it's really, you're going to get mixed up. It's not going to do you any good. So stick with your option for at least one month. You can adjust it after that. If you're starting dose, let's say you're starting dose is 150 milligrams. If you just feel that's a little bit too strong, a little bit too much, you can adjust that down a little bit. Or if you think it's not enough, you can adjust that up. But I want you to stay with the same protocol. For example, option three, four days on, one day off. I want you to stick with that. But you can raise or lower your dose a little bit if you feel you need to do that. And the reason behind this brand new microdose you protocol is that I don't think there's
a one size fits all. We're all different. We're all human. We've all got different things. We've got different tolerances. There's so many differences in our bodies and our makeup. And for somebody to say, well, this is how you do it. This is the only way. I think that's doing a lot of people a lot of disservice. I really think that is that that's why we've come up with here at microdose you the official microdose you protocol. And again, I will have this ready for you pretty soon as a image that you can download and print out or whatever you want to do with it. Keep it on your wall. Keep it on your fridge. There's a lot we can do with this. But I think this is kind of a breakthrough. It's the first protocol that I know of out there that gives you a little bit of flexibility and you don't have to do it just one certain way. Now later as you get much more experience with microdosing and I'm kind of at that stage. Now I've been there for a while. You can do what's called intuitive dosing and that's you pretty much just do it when you want to. And that's where I am now. But I've been doing this for five years. I would not recommend a beginner doing intuitive dosing is you really don't know how
you feel. So you have to stick to a schedule. I really do believe that. But as you get again, as you get more experienced, you can just say, hey, you know, today I feel like doing a microdose or today I don't feel like microdosing. It's a lot more intuitive once you really understand how you feel each day, what you've got planned, what you want to do with it, whatever it might be. But for now, you know, again, you can choose the Fatemann protocol if you like. You can choose the Stamett stack if you like. I am going to recommend that you really look at the microdose you protocol and pick whichever of the five possibilities you think is right for you and try that. And let me know how that goes. I'm very curious. You know, we can tweak over time. But let me know, let me know what you think. I think really for the first time ever, as far as I know, this is a protocol where you actually pick your schedule based out of the five possibilities that I have here. Again, I think it just gives it puts you a little bit more in control than these other ones that are very, very rigid. I really hope that helps because it's a really common question, even in my Patreon group
where people have been microdosing for quite some time. There's still always questions about the schedule, about, you know, taking breaks about this type of thing. So I think we've got this down now and I think this is going to work out well and really help a lot of people with their dosing schedule. So before we move on to the next section, I want to share something about these mushrooms. You may know that one of the very common varieties is called golden teachers. Golden teachers are actually a variety within the species called salasabecubensis. You don't have to know all this. It's a little bit geeky, but I wanted to talk about the fact that these mushrooms and not just golden teachers, but all the mushrooms are considered teachers. You're going to point you to things in your life that ultimately you're going to need to take care of. For example, if you have things going on in your life and I'm just going to give you some possibilities, I'm not saying you have this, but a bad relationship, a bad marriage. Your job's not working out well for you, hanging out with the wrong people.
Some bad habits, maybe addictions, whatever, whatever they may be. They're going to point you in that direction and you're going to need to take care of these things because as I say in a lot of my episodes, you can be the best microdoser in the world and you will be after you finish this episode right here. You'll have all the knowledge you need and you can be a great microdoser, but you can't out microdose a bad marriage. You can't out microdose if you're hanging around negative people that are messing up your life. You can't out microdose that. These are going to teach you some of the things you need to take care of in your life to get back to where you want to be. Just keep that in mind. You don't have to really do anything about that right now, but these are very, very powerful teachers and they've taught me a lot so far and they will teach you as well. But I want to make sure that when these lessons come up in front of you from the mushrooms that you're willing to take care of them because the mushrooms are not a bandaid that use put over something that's taking place in your life that's just not right and to patch
it up. That's not the way they work. These mushrooms have been used for thousands of years by civilizations that have come way before us. There is a reason they were placed on the earth. There's a big reason. They're meant to teach. They're meant to help us, but we have to listen to the lessons they're teaching us and take care of them. Just please remember that. Okay, so in this little section right here, I want to tackle three really commonly asked questions. Does microdosing work for everyone? What time of the day is it best to take your microdose and should I tell my doctor that I'm using psilocybin? Okay, let's answer those right now. Does microdosing work for everyone? Well, how can I say that? How can anybody give you a 100% confirmation that yes, it definitely is going to work? I mean, if your doctor put you on some type of blood pressure medication and you said your doctor, is it guaranteed to work? Your doctor could never say yes. Nothing is guaranteed. And the same thing with psilocybin, nothing is guaranteed.
But do I think it's going to work? Do I think it's going to help you? Do I think it's going to rewire your brain for the positive? I do with a caveat. If you stick with the program, remember what I talked about a little while ago. There are people that jump all over the place. They want instant gratification. If it doesn't work in a couple days, they're on to something else. They talk to their friends. They try other things. No, you have to stick with the program. It will work for you. But I could not give you a 100% guarantee. Nobody can guarantee anything 100%. It's just that's not the way this world works. So I'm very sorry about that. But do I think it will work for you? Yes, I do. If you stick with the program and do it properly. And also, if you hang out with us on our community, we have John Nell, Dr. Denise, and a lot of other like-minded people that are all there to help guide you. And at the end of this episode, that's not the end. It's really not the end. It's just the beginning of your journey. And we're all available to help out and answer questions and continue along on this journey
with you. It's very, very exciting and I'm so glad you're here. The next question. What time of the day is it best to take the microdose? It really doesn't matter. It doesn't matter at all. Your brain is going to be rewired no matter what. I personally, and many people that I've talked to and worked with, like to take our microdoses in the morning, only because... You do get a really good feeling from it and it's really good to get the benefits of that feeling most of the day. I'd say most people do or a good percentage of people do that. Now, some people say that microdosing helps them with their sleep. And in that case, they take their microdose a little bit closer to bedtime and that's totally fine. There's no right or wrong answer as far as what time of the day. The best answer would be whatever time of the day you think is best for you. And that is absolutely the best answer I can give you. This should I tell my doctor that I'm microdosing? Should I tell my doctor that I'm using psilocybin? In my opinion, yes. That's why you have a doctor. That's why you have a healthcare professional. Your healthcare professional should not be judging you in any way.
Your healthcare professional is there to work with you and alongside of you and know everything about you and there should be no secrets. Including this one. And if you begin microdosing and your doctor says, I don't want you to do that, I want you to stop. I think you could find another doctor because these days with everything that's out there about the safety and the efficacy of psilocybin, it would be uncommon, I think, to have a primary care doc or a specialist to say, I don't want you doing that because it's very dangerous. That would, I think if that were the case, barring any kind of circumstance that I just don't know about, that would be a little bit irresponsible for the doctor to say that. Now again, this is not medical advice. I am not your doctor. Remember back to Dr. Denise's segment. It is a very, very safe plant medicine. And I wanted to actually go back because one thing, Dr. Denise, I think didn't say specifically but I wanted to say that it is not addictive. You cannot get addictive to this plant medicine and you cannot overdose. Yes, like she said, you can go on a wild trip that might be a little bit too much if you
mistakenly take a lot, but you cannot overdose and you cannot become addicted to it. It's a very, very safe medicine. So yes, please tell your doctor. So how do you know that the psilocybin is actually working and not only that, but how long does it take before you really notice a difference? Well, the first question, how do you know it's working? I guess the best answer to that is you will start to feel subtle differences. You'll know sometimes large differences, but more likely subtle differences at first. So for example, if you've got depression, if you've got anxiety and all of a sudden after a few weeks, you notice that your anxiety and your depression may be 10 to 20 percent better, just a little bit less. You know that the medicine is beginning to work and you'll start to notice differences like that in many aspects of your life, whatever you're really trying to improve. Even if you take a microdose and then go to the gym or do some type of fitness or athletic event, you may start to notice that, hey, I feel like I can focus more.
I feel like I'm balancing better. I feel like I'm whatever doing something better. You'll start to notice that probably reasonably quickly. But please remember, everybody is different and there are some people that pretty much as soon as they take their first microdose, they start to feel better almost right away. And there are other people that take, it could take weeks, sometimes months. But again, like I said earlier, you really need to stick with the program and don't waver, don't deviate because this medicine does work. But it just works differently for different people. That's really the easiest way I can say it. So please don't expect overnight success. Everybody wants that these days. Everybody wants things to happen just right away. But sometimes really good things are worth waiting for. And I will tell you, I've been microdosing, like I said at the beginning of this episode for over five years now. There's a reason because it's improving so many things in my life, but it's taken time.
Yes, maybe my anxiety and my depression, well, I think I felt better fairly quickly with those. But there are other things in my life that I'm starting to realize, even now, after five years, because it's opening up my mind to really understand and visualize so many deeper things about life. So yes, some people do ask the question, well, how long do I have to microdose? And again, everybody's different. It really depends. It depends on how you feel. But I choose to continue my microdosing journey because it seems like almost every day a brand new door opens up with something else really, really cool in my life. And if since that's the case, why would I ever want to stop? So you can be the judge. You can take this journey in any direction or any amount of time that you want. You're in charge. There will come a time where intuitively you feel if you want to keep microdosing or not. You will feel this. But for now, please just go with the program. Go with the regimen that I spoke of earlier. Don't deviate. Don't drift away because I want you to be asking the question in the future.
Should I keep doing this? I feel great. Why would I ever want to stop? I want you to ask yourself that question. But it's going to take some time, but it will be totally, totally worth it. Okay, now this is very important because people ask this question all the time. We oftentimes get into discussions at length about this in our Patreon group because again, it's a really common question because a lot of people happen to be on antidepressants on SSRIs and they ask, well, do I need to stop my SSRI or my medicine before I begin microdosing? This is a topic that could really take on a life of its own. And I've done multiple episodes alone on this topic. So I'm not going to go super, super deep today. But the most important thing I can tell you is when you begin your microdosing journey, we absolutely do not recommend you quit your SSRI. The best way to approach this is to continue your antidepressant as you're doing now. Don't make any changes, but go ahead and just begin the microdosing journey, the regimen
that we talked about a little bit earlier in this episode. Pick one of those regimens. Go ahead and start. Keep in mind the only thing is if you're on an SSRI, you might need a little bit of a larger dose because the SSRI can mute the feeling a little bit of the psilocybin. So in other words, let's say I recommended earlier in this episode that you start at 150 milligrams. If you're on an SSRI, you might even want to consider 200 milligrams. There's nothing wrong with starting with 150, but knowing that you might need to bump it up, if you just don't feel anything whatsoever. And again, I'm not talking about being stoned, high, drunk, tripping, nothing like that, but you should feel a little something. That's what we talked about a little bit earlier. And if you just don't feel anything whatsoever, any difference at all, then you might want to go ahead and bump up your dosage a little bit. You will have the opportunity to wean off of your SSRI, but that's a little bit beyond the scope of today's episode because again, that could be an entire episode on its own.
But just to give you a little point of reference, I did not start weaning off of my SSRI until about eight months into my microdosing journey, about eight months. And even once I did start weaning, I took several months to cut it down very, very, very slowly. But that's not something you have to worry about right now because you're just beginning. But the most important thing to remember is do not make any changes in your SSRI, your antidepressant medication. Don't make any changes. Just go ahead and kind of overlay the microdosing on top of that. And it really should work very well for you. Okay, so this brings us to the part of the episode today where I'm going to be talking to you about something that's been on your mind this entire episode. I promise you and that is where can I get this medicine? Where do I get magic mushrooms? Where do I get psilocybin? And I'm going to address that right now. And I want you to listen or watch very carefully because this is perhaps the most important
segment of this episode. There is a problem out there. There are many unscrupulous people that are trying to take advantage and rip people like you and me off that are looking for medicine, looking to improve our lives, looking to change our lives. And for that reason, they're willing to scam, rip off, supply inferior medicine. Who knows what's in it? I want you to be really careful. I'm going to say something and I want you to never forget this. Never purchase medicine from somebody that you don't truly know who they are or what they're about. Please, again, this is the one rule I do not want you to break because you will get ripped off. I talk to people every single day who go through this and it's a shame, but sometimes people have to go through and learn how to do it the right way. And I want you to do it the right way since you've come this far in this episode. If you've been a follower of mine for a while, you know that I do not discuss in a public
podcast where to buy this medicine for obvious reasons. I don't need to go into that, but for obvious reasons. And some people might say, well, this is a bait and switch. No, it's not actually. It's not because I am going to share with you where to get the proper and the best medicine, but it's not going to be in a public form. We do this in our Patreon group. Yes, it's a paid platform, but I intentionally keep it extremely reasonable. And it's a community. And I promise you, there is nothing else like this community in the world. That's a promise from me. Sure, one of the things we talk about and I have a list of our trusted sources, sources that have been vetted. We know the reliable. We know they're responsible and we know their medicine works 100%. So when you join Patreon, you'll be privy to our trusted sources. But not only that, you will be part of a community that is kind, non-judgmental and people that are always there and willing to help because many of them have been where you are right now.
They're just maybe a little bit further along on the timeline. And we have absolute beginners in our Patreon group as well. There's a wide range of people from all over the world and we're all helping each other. Again, there's nothing like this in the world. So if you truly want a place to get medicine from our trusted sources and I want to make it very clear also, I've got nothing to do with their medicine, their business. I'm not involved financially. I'm not involved in any way. They don't even send me free medicine. These are simply sources that we've known for quite some time and we know they work. We know they're honest. And not only that, in our Patreon group, you'll be able to hang with me. You'll be able to hang with Dr. Denise who you met earlier in this episode. And a host of other people. Again, I do believe this could be the best investment you make in your life. And I do hope you understand that I just can't put this information in a public forum because we need to be safe and we need to protect every single person that's involved in this microdosing journey.
The link to Patreon will always be in the show notes. And just in case you have a pencil or a pen right here with you while you're listening or watching, it's simply microdosing. It's microdose-u.com. It's microdose with a letter U on the end of it. Microdose-u.com. Slash Patreon. P-A-T-R-E-O-N. Patreon. But again, it's listed in the show notes so you don't have to remember that right now. I really hope to see you in Patreon. We can interact together. Again, along with Janelle, Dr. Denise, and many other superstars who you're going to love to meet. This is not a commercial. This is not the ulterior motive of the show. This is not the ulterior motive for producing this episode. This episode has been carefully thought out because I truly want to share every aspect of microdosing to everyone out there, especially somebody who has zero experience, starting from scratch. And that's what this episode is all about. So let's continue. I definitely have some more things to talk about before we close the episode.
But I wanted to get that out of the way where to get the medicine. Many things about that. Everybody talks about it. I hope to see you in Patreon. Which by the way, this leads me into a question I get asked all the time. And it goes something like, hey, Dr. Dave, do I need to pay someone and travel to another city or another country to have someone guide me and teach me how to microdose? And the answer to that question is absolutely not. You do not have to do that. In fact, I would not even encourage you to do that. Why in the world would you want to pay thousands of dollars by the time you pay for your travel and whatever these places charge and they usually charge a lot of money because you're paying these so-called shamans or centers or whatever they are? You're going to be paying thousands of dollars to learn how to microdose or to have someone watch you or guide you to microdose? No. You do not have to do that at all. Now, we'll tell you this. If you've got plenty of money and money is no object whatsoever and you want to just
do this for some fun, interesting travel or a little vacation, that's a different story. If you have the money and you don't mind blowing it, that's okay. But do you really have to travel and be guided by some shaman type person? No, you don't. We have everything you need, all the resources you need right here at microdose you. You can check out the website, microdoseu.com. You can join our Patreon for $12.50 a month as opposed to traveling for thousands of dollars. Everything is right here for you. So I find it very curious as to how many people ask me that question. They want to travel somewhere and I answer the same way every single time. No, you don't have to do that. I don't encourage you to do that unless you want to do it, unless you want to have some fun and spend a lot of money for something that's not really necessary. Which leads me to another topic that people ask all the time. I've heard that the only way for this to work is to do large doses of psilocybin. Again, totally not true.
I've done episodes on this. I can just real quickly equate this to what is that? The story of the of the turtle and the hair or something like that. I don't that might not be exactly right. But in other words, in general, the person that does something very consistently, maybe slowly, but very consistently unwavering doesn't stop. Usually comes out more ahead than the person that does things in large bursts, but then stops. And a couple examples are, who do you think would be in better shape? Somebody that gets out there and walks or runs a couple miles a day consistently every day or somebody that runs a marathon once or twice a year. Think about that. It's the consistency. It's the slowness. It's don't do too much at one time, but do it. I've been microdosing for over five years now. I've taken some larger doses. Yes, I have, but I will tell you this that the consistency and sticking to what I believe in, little by little, over the course of five plus years has totally changed my life.
And I know people that have gone the route of very large heroic doses, some have gone into these big, research clinics and they give them these large doses and they save for a few days or a few weeks. They feel so much better, better than they ever have in their entire lives. However, after a certain amount of time, they're back to where they were. I've worked with these people. I know many of them. So please do not listen to the small group of people out there that say the only way for this to work is to do large doses. It is absolutely not true. It's dangerous misinformation. Okay, now let's talk about something right now that's super, super important. Unlike taking an antidepressant or an SSRI, psilocybin, magic mushrooms are not going to do all of the work for you. Remember, when you take an antidepressant, it's just a chemical you're putting in your body and you go about your daily business. You don't even think about it. With psilocybin, it's actually a little bit different. There's integration work. There's some side work that you need to do alongside of the microdosing to get the
absolute best results. Now, there's nothing difficult about this and everybody's integration work is a little bit different, but I'm going to give you just a couple of suggestions, things that you can do alongside that will almost guarantee your microdosing journey is much more successful than if you didn't do it. The first one is just make sure you work in some mindfulness and some quiet time every single day. It's super important. I love my quiet time. Don't get me wrong. I love being with other people. I love doing things. However, I love my quiet time. When I spend time by myself, whether it's a hike, whether it's going to see some music, sitting in a restaurant by myself, I'm really able to go very deep. When you go deep, you think about your life and things start to improve. I'm telling you this works and I cannot emphasize it enough. Spend some quiet time with yourself every single day. I think some of us get so busy these days with work, family, friends, social obligations,
whatever it might be, and you find that you're never alone, never have time to think. This could actually be one of the most important things I talk about. Believe it or not, in this episode. The second thing is pick one thing at a time that you really want to change and concentrate on it and track the progress and see how you're doing with it. This might sound a little bit cheesy, but it could be something as simple as smiling more. Believe it or not, when you smile more, you become happier and you also attract more people to you. Quality people. A smile is something that is free and it goes so far. That's just a tiny, tiny little example. Anything you're working on, it could be trying to exercise more, it could be trying to drink alcohol less. It could be trying to get outside for a walk in nature more often. Anything. Concentrate on these things and I'm telling you, the microdosing will guide you in the right direction. I promise you that. Another thing I'd like you to do is reflect and track.
See how you're doing. Track your progress. See how you feel. I highly recommend carrying a journal with you every single day wherever you go. I carry a journal. If you're watching me on YouTube, I just held my journal up because I always have it with me. In the show notes, under my Amazon store, I have the exact journal that I use every single day. You can get that one or you can get anyone you want. I think I also have the pen that I use every day as well. Alongside of all the supplements and so many other things that I use on a daily basis, I've got that in my Amazon store and I have a link to that in the show notes. You might want to check that out. But right down in your journal, anything you want, there's no right and there's no wrong. How do you feel if you're working on your anxiety or your depression or both or whatever, make notes in your journal? Did I feel 10% better today? What am I doing? What am I noticing? How am I handling situations where I start to feel a little bit more anxious? Right in your journal. This integration, which means the things that go alongside of the microdosing, is so important
I cannot emphasize it enough. Make sure you do the integration work alongside of the microdosing. Always remember, the mushroom is powerful, but it's not going to do 100% of the work for you. Now, I've done a lot of talking about how I believe in microdosing, how I truly believe it can change your life. But there is a small group of people that I think maybe should not be microdosing. And it is small, but I want to go ahead and share this with you. Who should not be microdosing? Well, first of all, if you're totally skeptical, you don't believe it's going to work or you're going into it, thinking that it's most likely going to fail, then maybe it's not your time. You should not be microdosing. Don't try it. Just keep doing what you're doing and hopefully you'll be okay. Secondly, if you truly don't want to change, I would not recommend microdosing. I mean, there are people out there that maybe are not living their ideal lives, but for some reason, and I don't really know what the reasons are, there are probably many, they
just don't want to see any change in themselves. And if that's you, I hope it's not, but if that's you, then it's probably not for you. This is for people that truly want to change their lives. Now, we'll get into a couple of medical things and I am not an expert on this, but I would recommend checking with your doctor. If you have a strong family history or if you have psychosis, bipolar, I would like you to check with your doctor first. Also, if you're taking medications or have a significant medical psychiatric condition, that could possibly complicate things, again, I would like you to check with your doctor. And lastly, if you are truly concerned about the legal implications of using psilocybin, then maybe it's not for you. I will say this, there are areas in the United States where I live right here that psilocybin is legal or decriminalized. And I would recommend using it in those areas. However, if you're in an area where it is still not legal and you do believe that your mental health and your physical health and your life is more important than a particular
outdated law, then just be careful. And yes, it's an outdated law because psilocybin is technically a schedule one substance, which means there's no medical value. And it has a high potential for abuse and neither of those are true. But like I said, it's outdated and they could take a long time before that comes off of schedule one. And I don't know about you. I don't want to wait. But some people are very, very concerned about that. And if you are, another possibility is to join us over on Patreon where we do talk about how to be safe, even if you're in an area where it is not exactly legal. And even if you're listening or watching this from another country outside of the United States, just be careful. Of course, I cannot quote the laws in every single country. That would be impossible. But be careful. And if you like, join us over on Patreon because again, we do talk about these things and we do help people out with illegality and issues like that. Wow. I've just spent close to 80 to 90 minutes sharing with you everything you need to know
from start to finish about how to microdose magic mushrooms. Now, I promised you we were going to cover everything and I really tried to. However, there's no way in the world that I could cover every single question that you may have or somebody else may have out there. I tried to do my best, but I'm sure there are still some questions and maybe you need some guidance or whatever. So what do you do from here? Well, I do believe you have enough information to get started. For sure. When I started microdosing magic mushrooms five plus years ago, I did not have nearly this amount of information and I was totally fine. However, if you're looking for more, again, I can't stress enough how important and just how incredible our Patreon group is. Remember, the link is in the show notes. I hope to see you there. A few other things you could do would be to check out my website, microdoseu.com. It's microdose, but the letter you on the end of it, microdoseu.com. There's some resources there for sure. And we also have a five-part email course, microdosing for beginners.
It's all free. You can sign up for that as well. It's in the show notes. Also, if you really want to fast track this, we do offer one on one personalized coaching here at microdoseu. You already met my friend and colleague Dr. Denise, who spoke earlier in this episode. She heads up our coaching program and she is awesome and we have some unbelievable success stories. The information is all at my website microdoseu.com. And the link to the coaching, it's all right there. Just make sure you click the coaching tab. We can take care of you. We can do anything from one session to one hour session until we have an entire 10 week personalized program for you. Again, if this is something you're interested in, just reach out very easy and we can take care of you. The most important thing to remember is this could be the beginning of a brand new life for you. When my microdosing journey started, I never realized for a second how it would change my life for the better. Look back at pictures of myself from 5, 10, 15 years ago. And for some reason, I just don't think I looked right.
I look at pictures of myself now or I look at myself in the mirror and I feel exactly the way I want to feel every single day. And I really do owe this to psilocybin, to magic mushrooms, to microdosing. It opened up an entire new life for me and I really want the same for you. So thank you. If you've gotten this far, you are very, very dedicated. I can tell you right now. So don't stop now. Make sure you are living your best life ever. You only get one shot at this. Why not do it? Let's continue this conversation over on Patreon. You can join there to microdoseu.com slash Patreon. And the link is in the show notes again, if you want to make sure you got it right. I truly, from the bottom of my heart, appreciate and I want to thank you for either watching or listening to this all the way through. Your life is about to change. Make sure you subscribe. Make sure you comment. Make sure you share. Make sure you like. Do all the things that you need to do to help the channel out because I really am trying
to change the world. One person at a time, but that's okay with me. If your brand new to us here, Dr. Denise has an episode that comes out right on this channel every single weekend and I have a brand new episode that comes out every Wednesday. Although sometimes, depending on my schedule and depending what I have coming up with microdoseu, I do take a little bit of time off. But I try to get something out there every single Wednesday if I can. And I've got a lot of great episodes coming up. Again, thank you so much for being with us today. You don't know how much I appreciate you. Before I leave, I want you to remember one thing. You are valuable. You matter. You matter a lot to me and you matter a lot to everyone here at microdoseu. I'll see you soon.
