Texans vs Rams: Week 1 Preview & Keys to the Game

The Houston Texans kick off the 2025 season on the road against the Los Angeles Rams. In this Week 1 preview, we’ll break down everything you need to know:

• CJ Stroud’s homecoming game in California

• His admiration for Matthew Stafford, who he’s called his favorite QB

• The revamped Texans offensive line with new leadership under Nick Caley & Cole Popovich, built to handle Chris Shula’s defensive scheme after last year’s struggles with stunts and simulated pressures

• Key connections between the two teams, including Nick Caley and Jerry Schuplinski’s Rams coaching tree ties, and DeMeco Ryans’ familiarity with the Rams from his 49ers days

• The joint practices the Texans and Rams shared last year that bring added familiarity

• Keys to the game: secondary eye discipline vs Stafford’s no-look throws, pre-snap communication in a loud road environment, and red-zone efficiency
