On March 3rd, Syracuse University named Jay Michael Haney as his 13th Chancellor this week. He will replace Kent Severid, who is heading to the University of Michigan as President. Haney starts on July 1st. Haney already works at Syracuse as Vice-Chancellor for Strategic Initiatives and Innovation. He also serves as Executive Dean of the Martin J. Whitman School of Management. A former U.S. Air Force officer, he has been part of the University for over 20 years and on the senior leadership team for more than 10. The board of trustees praised Haney for his deep commitment to the school. They say he is ready to lead with strong vision. Now attention turns to athletics, as current Director John Wildhack retires on July 1st after about 10 years. Reports suggest Syracuse will hire a new athletics director quickly, possibly before March 10th. This matters because men's basketball coach Adrian Autry faces uncertainty after the 2025-26 season. A new director could help decide his future and

pick the next coach before the transfer portal opens in April. Names like Andrew Goodrich from Akron, Heather Lyke at Syracuse, John Cunningham from Cincinnati, and others are floating around for the job. With changes coming fast, Syracuse fans have plenty to watch in the weeks ahead.
