Hello there, I'm Barnabas the Barn Owl. Today I have one of the most fantastic stories you've ever heard. Hi, Bernie. Welcome to Nature Corner. My privilege Uncle Bob, I'm glad to be here. You have a fantastic story? Yeah, sure do. Okay, let's hear it, boy. I hunt for mice at night time, and I find them by using only my ears. You don't use your eyes, Bernie? No, even though they're excellent, I cannot see a mouse scampering through a field after dark. Why not? I mean, your eyes are supposed to be 100 times more powerful than mine. It's because, field mice camouflage so well with the weeds and the plants. Even during the day, my eyes cannot find them. So that's why you have to depend on your ears? Yes, my great intelligent creator gave me a super wonderful pair of ears. Scientists now believe my ears are better than any other animals known to man.

Wow, are your ears better than mine? Yes. Really? Definitely. In a scientific test, humans can hear horizontal sounds as well as barn owls. But we barn owls can hear vertical sounds three times better than you can. Now, the boys and girls might be a little confused what you mean when you say horizontal and vertical sounds, Barnabas. Can you help them? Sure. A horizontal sound is a sound that's coming straight to your left or right. Okay, and a vertical sound would be one coming from up or down. That's right, and it's those up and down sounds that you people cannot hear as well as we barn owls can. Hey boy, that's interesting. Barnabas, because you can hear these sounds from the left and right and up and down, you're able to find the field mouse on a dark night. Yes, now before I tell you how my creator made my ears, let me say something to the boys and girls about the field mice. Yes, Barney, they think the field mice are cute and they might be a little upset because you eat them.

A boys and girls, if I didn't eat field mice, they'd eat up much of the farmer's crops and you'd probably go hungry. So really, you're a friend of the farmer, Barnabas, the Barnow, right? And a friend of the boys and girls, too, Uncle Bob. Okay, now Barney, you and your Barnow buddies won't eat up all the field mice, will you? No chance, Uncle Bob. Do you know how many baby field mice are born to Mama Mouse every year? I have no idea, Barnabas. About 80 babies. 80 babies in just one year? From one Mama Field Mouse? Yes, Mrs. Field Mouse has 12 litters of mice each year with about seven babies in each litter. Oh, no wonder the creator made you, Barnie. For sure, I have to keep the population down because a baby field mouse is grown up when she's only three weeks old. Three weeks old, that means she can start having a family then. Now do boys and girls understand why I have to eat field mice?

Oh yes, they sure do, Barnabas. If you didn't, the ground would be crawling with mice in no time. Well, like I said, I do it after dark. That's when the mice are out feeding in the field, eating the grain. Yes, and they make noises. Like what, Barnie? Oh, this week a lot, and they run over top of dry at least. Make a racket, and you can hear them as you fly over the dark field at night. Yes, my master designer built my ears, so they would pinpoint very, very accurately. Where a fat field mouse is, out in the field. Oh, that is super fantastic. This is what nature corners all about Barnabas the Barn Hall. Let's hear it. Oh, okay. A Barn Hall is about a foot and a half tall. I have a lot of white feathers with little brown marks on them. You're pretty too, and you've got a big face, sort of heart shaped. Yes, my face is covered with very, specially engineered feathers. They're just not ordinary feathers? Gracious no Uncle Bob. These feathers on my face are short and stiff.

Where are your ears, Barnie? On either side of my head, just opposite my eyes. But I don't see them. And that's because a piece of skin with feathers in covers them. Out of sight, hmm. How can you hear them? Because under that skin, there's a tunnel that opens up into my ear. Oh, I see a tunnel about a half an inch deep that goes up both sides of your face. It's a feather tunnel. That's it, Uncle Bob. That's it. I call it my rough, and it's a half inch deep. Now this rough starts down near your sharp bill and curves up the outside of your face to a little above your eyes. Yes, this feather tunnel going up both sides of my feathery face is four inches long. And it looks about three quarters of an inch wide. Right, boys and girls, it's really a tunnel without a roof on it. Why's that? So sounds from the field mice can land in there. Okay, I get it. So this feathery tunnel is a sound collector, and it leads to your ears.

Yes, it's just like your ear, Uncle Bob. Put your finger just inside that ridge in your ear. Boys and girls, that's right. Now run your finger up and down that ridge. Okay, I'm doing it, Barney. Sure, sure, that ridge is about an inch and a half long. Now my ridge is my feather tunnel my creator made for me, Uncle Bob, and it's four inches long on either side of my face. And it collects sound just like mine does. Now you've got it, Uncle Bob. Barney, the boys and girls are wondering, how are you able to find that fat field mouse on a dark night just by using your ears? The field mouse makes a lot of noise while he eats, and he also squeaks quite a bit, plus he has campers overdrive corn leaves. And your super sensitive ears can hear these sounds. Yes, as he, these two feather tunnel ruffs on both sides of my face are specially designed sound collectors

that my maker built for me. You know what he engineered them for you. In his name is the Lord Jesus Christ. We read about him in John chapter 1. Okay, tell the boys and girls how you find that field mouse now. Well, as I float slowly over the field, I turn my head and listen for sounds. When I hear the squeak of a field mouse, immediately my brain tells me where that mouse is. Your brain, how does your brain know, Barnabas? Because of a sound that landed in those two feather tunnels. It traveled into my ears and went straight to my brain. Okay, your brain is a computer then. Sure it is, built by the great creator. And the creator's book calls him the son of God. In Colashions chapter 1. Let me tell you how my brain pinpoints the location of that mouse exactly. Okay, go ahead, Barney. Uncle Bob, when I hear that mouse squeak, my creator has taught me to turn my head sideways back and forth until the sound comes in the loudest. Then I raise my head up and down until it's loudest.

I've got it, Barney. You have the exact horizontal and vertical location of that mouse now. Yes, my brain figures it out like a computer. And you might say it draws a big plus sign for me to see. Fantastic, that mouse is right in the middle of the plus sign like the crosshairs on a gun site. Yes, where the two lines come together is exactly where the mouse is at the crosshairs. Incredible, and you soar in low and grab the mouse with your sharp claws, right? My brain tells me exactly where to put my feet on, Uncle Bob. It does? Sure. I'll usually put one foot ahead of the other. That way, the front claws will grab the front part of the mouse. And the back claw will grab his hind part. All done without seeing the mouse. Fantastic engineering. Why that's just like an airplane's automatic pilot. It is indeed, Uncle Bob. That's how I keep the field mouse population down and really help the farmer. Incredible engineering, Barnabas the Barnow.

Oh, I know that, Uncle Bob. Give the glory to my maker, though. Oh, that's the whole idea of nature corner, Barney. His name is the Lord Jesus Christ, the first 14 verses of John chapter 1, say so. Thanks for telling it like it is, Uncle Bob. Me, you too, Barney. If the Lord Jesus Christ is really your personal savior, then this story is for you. Brother Jesus Christ, will I come from the Apostle Peter? Well, go ahead and read it, Philip. And let me open the seal here. There we go. But Jesus has been a long time since we've heard from Peter. I wonder how he is. I've got the scroll right here. He says, from Peter and Apostle of Jesus Christ, two gods elect to God's watch, Philip, to God's elect. His elect. What does that man? Well, Thomas the word elect means to choose, to call out.

It's interesting. Yes. And God has done that for us. That's what Peter says, Thomas. He says to God's elect. Now, when he is speaking of the elect, is he talking about those who have trusted the Lord Jesus as Savior? Oh, definitely. Yes, it's right for us. Yes, it's right. Yes, it's right. Thomas. How did God elect us or choose us as a member of his family? How did he do it? Yes, Philip. You've got it. Well, listen what Peter says. We have been chosen according to the foreknowledge of God the Father. Mm-hmm. It's interesting. Yeah. Let me see that for myself. Why don't you go over here and read on with me. We have been chosen according to the foreknowledge of God the Father. What does foreknowledge mean? That means you know something ahead of time, right, Silas? Oh, yeah, yeah, sure. For knowledge, knowledge beforehand. And that's the kind of knowledge God had about all of us see. He knows that word foreknowledge means something special to me. It means that God knew everything about me before I was even born.

Me too. Yes, that's for sure, Roder. That shows how wonderful God has He knows everything. See, if God did not know everything before it would happen, then He would not be God. But the neat thing is God does know everything. And you said that we have been chosen according to the foreknowledge of God the Father. Philipsur, of course we know that God knows everything about us, but what specifically did He know about me so He could choose me and elect me into His family? All right, Silas. Now, there was a day when you trusted the Lord Jesus as your Savior, right? Yeah. When was that? It was two years ago. Okay, and where were you when you made that decision? I was at home, sir. And who told you how to be saved? My mom and dad. All right, Silas. Now, you say that was two years ago. It was at your home, and your mom and dad told you how to trust Jesus Christ as your personal Savior. That's right. Now, do you think you surprised God when you trusted Jesus as your Savior two years ago?

Shippurized, God, sir? Yeah. Oh, no way. Why do you say that? Well, God knows everything. And long before I was even born, He knew that I would trust Him as my personal Savior two years ago. At home, my mom and dad would show me how. Okay, so that is the knowledge you say God had in His mind long, long ago? Oh, I had to be. I mean, God knows everything. Nothing ever catches Him by surprise. He knew there would be a day when I trust Jesus Christ. So long ago, He chose me. According to His four knowledge. Praise God. Praise the Lord. Praise the Lord. And I'm so glad God is never, never wrong. Let's read that verse again, folks. Ready? Let's go over here. Come on now. We have been chosen according to the four knowledge of God the Father. Can you say that with me? That's right. We have been chosen according to the four knowledge of God the Father. That's first Peter chapter one, verses one and two.

Say, what did all Testament people believe about the four knowledge of God? You want to hear? Here's King David. Hey man, I'm glad to be with you today, my friend. Well, thank you, sir. It's a real honor to be able to chat with the King today. Glad to, because I know what you always like to talk about. Okay. David, what do you know about the knowledge of God? Have you got about two hours? Yeah, sure. I know you only have a few moments. And I'll tell you this. And it's holy scripture. Listen. Before a word is on my tongue. You know it completely, O Lord. God told you that about himself. Yes, he did, and I wrote it down in the Psalms. I'll say it again. Before a word is on my tongue. You know it completely, O Lord. For that's fantastic. Isn't that just like God? It sure is. That shows that God has tremendous four knowledge. He knows what you're going to say before you say it. I'm definitely King David. What else does God know about us?

Listen to this, my gentle friend. This is Holy Scripture too, in the same Psalm. Here it is. O Lord, you have searched me. And you know me. You see my thoughts from far, far away. God, you are familiar with all of my ways. Oh, my. That shows how great our God really is. It certainly does, my friend. David's words are found in Psalm 139. Verses 1 through 4. And really, their God's words. You know, Paul, John 6.64 says, Way back in the beginning, the Lord Jesus Christ, knew those who would not believe in Him. Now, since He knew those who would not believe in Him, it's very certain that He knew those who would believe in Him, right? That's John 6.64. And that storybook room today, on Kubaub, until next time, Cheerio.
