Now we're turning our attentions to sporting matters and joining us is our sports editor Derek Lynch. Derek, very good morning to you. Morning, Alejandro. Thanks very well. Thanks very much for being with us. Where do we want to start? The choice is yours. Right. Look at your other caps in the ship. But I appreciate it. I'm abdication responsible. I appreciate it. I'm just piloting myself. I'm washing my hands. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. I appreciate it. I'm handing the ears of a Monday morning. I suppose we'll start with the Kamolki because it is a senior county title after all and it was game of the weekend in Parkes, Oregon. I suppose the first thing to say maybe is that it wasn't quite the contest that maybe we might have anticipated. Okay, Leigh Hanck, he made it. He got the gold and brought it back to a three point game at that stage. True color seems to be kind of the ring completely. Yeah, you weren't even the word go. They were. And I suppose the next point after that gold was always going to be so, so critical. And I suppose it came to true clalara and I came from the bench as well, which was a real sign of their strength in depth to kind of push them forward clear. They made it five and that kind of killed it off really, but I suppose in an overall sense, like I thought they're hunger and their work rate was absolutely incredible.

The amount of times that a climatic defender was turned over by a true clalara forward while facing their own in line. They didn't even have time to turn and look down the field. The pressure came on immediately and like that just come down to work rate. You often hear this old buzz phrase of our defenal here. A lot of managers at us, our defense starts at number 15, but I thought they absolutely encapsulated that in their application of it on Saturday. Like on your lock, I'd say it must be an absolute nightmare being a defender being marked by or which sounds strange thing to say because it should be the other way around. But the amount of times that a climatic defender tried to lift the ball and just a little flick came in and like it's putting you back towards your own in line all the time. And when you get turned over there, it's a really dangerous spot. Roisin Beggley for me had one of the best years of her career, a county level for Claire like when Lauren Mac got injured, everything fell back on her and she delivered in spades. I think she has carried that through to the club scene this year. I thought she was absolutely immense on Saturday. Everything she hits him to go over. But again, it was her work rate. She was buzzing around the place. She was the link player a lot of the time as well.

Laura Foley hurled the world a ball at midfield. I thought Joanne Egan worked really hard out in the wing. Ellen Horrigan worked so, so hard. Michelle Caulfield, Michelle Paul, I thought Anchor, their defense absolutely brilliantly. Like the calmness that Michelle Caulfield brought that half back line was immense really. So they just I think call over the field. They had really experienced leaders and they looks like a team that were trying to bridge a 12 year gap, maybe more so than Climedy. And that's not saying anything about the Climedy work rate. I thought they tried really hard, but ultimately it was Trucla Lara who I say put in those tackles, put in those blocks and hooks and got the scores for Climedy. As we said, it was a 12 year way to get back to the final. Did the occasion get them? That's hindsight analysis. You know, I'm not quite sure on that, but certainly the start of the Trucla Lara made the game. I thought just gave them a cushion and particularly the period just before half time to go in, I think it was 11, 3 and half time going in maybe five or six back. You'd be saying, okay, but going in 11, 3 down with a mountain to climb into second half was a really tough place for Climedy to be. And you say, you know, going up against, you know, did the occasion get to them?

What it was, they're going up against the team. We've won three account details in the last four years. And you think about Trucla Lara and they had their near misses and finals and number occasions before they finally managed to get over the line and in dramatic fashion with the last cast goal. And they've kind of motor done from there. Yeah, they certainly haven't their reference that they talked and we should have pulled afterwards. She said there's a lot of them now that have been on this road for quite some time and she even brought it back. And I'd actually forgot the boat to be honest that even before they made the break through to make their first county final, they had last three semifinals. And I'm one of those, I think she said, when takes her time as well, like so, you know, you'd kind of maybe forget that because you're talking so much about the six finals in a row, but there was a road to get to that point as well. So take that over. We'll say a nine year period like that's some amount of experience garnered along the way. It's some amount of winning know how and it's also some amount of regeneration of the squad because while a lot of them would have seen those nine years, there's a lot of younger players that have been brought through throughout those periods and they've gone on provincial campaigns and they've trained under lights and they've been part of all that journey that

really garners experience for a team. So, you know, from Sophie Cullen and Gould right up to the corner forwards, did they've really been through it all and I think deserving of more decounty champions? Yeah, let's hear a little bit from Michelle Powell speaking about what you've, a team that is now as used to winning trophies over the last few years, but still, I suppose, emphasizing what it means to their panel. It probably gets me here every time, like, we've been in the last couple of finals, but we've had our fair share of Harprey Kizvela and just every kind of win or anytime you get over the line, it's just, it just gets better and better. You don't get sick at that feeling and it's something we definitely battled after, like, we obviously last after extra time last year and I think we all knew over winter last year that, you know, we need to get back to winning ways and the fact that we have to do it again, such a tough physical side as Gamelia is just, you know, it's just a savage effort from everyone and it's just delighted to be a part of it. The feeling of lifting silver where clearly they have become complacent about it from the sounds of Michelle Powell there, Derek. And we saw how becoming County Champions two years ago was the springboard for provincial

and almost, almost all Ireland success. That particular journey begins again and the 25th of this month, they've begun up against where the court champions might be. That'll be, I suppose, the box that's left unticked, especially in that all Ireland final, they feel they, I suppose it was new to them, didn't do themselves justice. I mean, that's, I'm talking a long way off, but that's, I guess, where their attention is now turned to show that they can go and, you know, be monster champions again, but become all Ireland champions. Yeah, well, as you said, that is a long way off and there's a very tough road to get there because they're preliminary, that word always catches me, preliminary monster championship game. They're going to be playing the court champions, potentially St. Finn bars who are, you know, a real, real strong force, obviously, and it's a way as well. Now, it's on in, it's two or three weeks time, you have to get that confirmed. It's definitely two if not three. So they have time, I suppose, to maybe celebrate. And it was funny, like we'll hear more from Michelle tonight and indeed, Oampold as well on Silent View Review, like, but they're kind of saying, you know what, when an account

you find on a Saturday gives you an extra night's celebrate. You know, you're, you're so, they did. Yeah, Saturday's Sunday and into the Monday club and then get them back trained and choose the night and run, run it out of them. So they'll have that and then know how to manage that journey as well, which I think is important. And also the extra week or two, whatever it is, would be important as well. Because like last year, you were in a situation where I need to kill them all in the final and they were out just a week later against Newcastle West on a rotten, rotten day, whether or not he's in Ina. And that can be tough as well. So like, yeah, for Trukland, I like the group to won't get ahead of themselves either. They won't be thinking of anything other than getting off the line. And like, I suppose the way it is in, in, in Kamogi in the provinces, if you do happen to take down a court champion, you've opened the door of yourself big time, but like, it starts in a preliminary game. You still have a semi final and a final to negotiate after that as well. And as you said, that preliminary game, that's, that's as tough as it gets. It is. And then like, go on to Carc as well. And what it had to be in Park, you're in or in the Carcamo, he grounds that remains to be seen, but wherever it is, it'll be a tough, in you tough game. But for them, getting the Mac Mac and Cup back was absolutely huge.

You can see how much it means to them afterwards as well. And you know, lovely scenes whereby, you know, all the children were called into the photo and stuff like that. And even Michelle Carfield and, and John Cunland's little one was in the picture. I have to say a credit to John Cunland if he's listening because he gave me a new idea. I've often tried to coax my young lads to be quiet by shaking a bag of tattoos at them, but John was rolling his little rovern back to distract the young, and I thought that was just that's a brilliant bit of train and straight off like a hypnotist with a, you know, the door of the stiffer rovern. He hit the hardy stiffer back and I said, God, I, I'd be using cheese and onion like, but not not John Cunland. They think differently down there. So well done to them as well. Fantastic stuff. So as you say, yeah, on, on where's they go now? And, and, and bigger, right, bigger fish to fry is supposed to underroad. OK, and we'll, of course, preview the game closer to the time. Let's turn to the TOS Clare senior football semi finals. It is going to be a rogue versus Kilmer, you're brick and that is a meaty matchup and want to very much look forward to how did it come about though? Well, air oak took a step closer to retaining Jack daily by beating St Joseph,

and Miltaugh Malbe by 12 points, 12, 12, 11 points and Camarilla Brick and finding the net on a number of occasions, 4, 22, 9 points against Kildiser. Let's first hear Merrill Manager Shane Daniels. Still saying they, they have plenty to work on ahead of that meeting with Camarilla Brick. Yeah, we played OK at times and we played slapier times. To be honest, I think we were sloppy today and a lot of aspects were to play. That was a credit to Miltaugh on the pressure to put on the ball and work right off the ball. So, you know, we were on characteristic mistakes, which, you know, we wouldn't be happy with from our point of view, but that was the pressure we were on from Miltaugh. No sense of complacency setting in there anyway. It's say it's more than double scores victory over Miltaugh and but I guess, you know, knowing what Kilmer you're breaking are likely to bring and did bring against Kildiser. He doesn't want to see any complacency setting in. No, and it's supposed to first thing to say here and I'm not breaking any state secrets by saying it is that there were two disappointing games like we built them up as, you know,

a brilliant double header and any other occasion was perfect. And that's I think what should be the way going forward is there two semi-finals, they'd like that, but they just never materialized in 10 degree a contest, particularly the second game as well. I can ask you to actually where they're disappointing purely and a footballing quality or like there off perspective or was because of the one's relative one-sided name. Oh, God. No, yeah, the lopsided contest nature of the thing like I suppose for a time, Erog and Milton threatened to develop into a contest. Climore and Kildiser never did to be perfectly honest about it. Once Climore started raining in the goals, months to first one went in. That was it. From Connor Borker think it was, you know, it really kind of put a chasm between the sides that only widened over the following 40 or so minutes of the game. So put flaky Erog and Milton, it's just this Erog, Juggernaut has trokin onwards and they're showing no signs of letting up, but it's not just the 15 on the field. I mean, they're they're dipped in the bench. It's an embarrassment of riches really like they're able to bring in Enor Connor. They're able to bring in Jack Joyce who kicks two two pointers within 40 seconds of his introduction. One as good as the other like, you know,

I wouldn't bring him back to this. He comes off the bench and kicks five points like I mean, what other team can call and on players like that? Enor Connor is, I think he's one of the most exciting wingbacks we've seen in the county for a long time and great to see him back from injury. And before the game, then yesterday, like Colomolcho Loughlin was the late addition to the panel wearing number eight in place to David McNamara who's out that reb injury. Like from a clear football point of view, everyone's so happy to see Colombe back because we all thought this guy's going to light it up no under a pond mat and last year for the, I will say this season gone for the county team and then software the dreaded injury and was out. So to see him back is brilliant. And I'd say, you know, for the county next year, keep an eye on that guy as well. And there's just so much like blue pine and not a really, really exciting player has that brilliant loss, introgravity that allows him to wriggle around defenders. And like then you have the blue ribbon in their team that is Mark McInerney, like he's cantering away with this top score reward. I think 10 points again yesterday, two pointers, score them for fun. And he's got such balance and movement for a big man and like I've interviewed him twice now after the games. And I just feel so inadequate standing beside him because he's this big specimen of an athlete.

Like you can just see that a guy that big and strong shouldn't have the movement and agility has, but he's got it all. He's got a brilliant left peg. He's got a very clinical right one as well. And I suppose given the pedigree of his dad who lifted the monster championship for a player in 92, we shouldn't be surprised, but he's developing into a real, real top class forward. And they've just got it all really a rogue. And it's going to be such a huge, huge task in a couple of weeks time for a climurian. I suppose, you know, the way that they put the game to bed, but I just, I'll just say it again. I think here on Russell's influence on games is just so, so incredible to watch. Like he's, he owns the right hand side of the field in every game he plays. And I just don't understand how teams are backing off him and not engaging him a little bit further up the field. I thought, Milton, I thought we're going to get a little bit closer to them yesterday. And they just didn't and even watching back some of the highlights this morning, the amount of uncontested kicks that a rogue players had. Like he can go go go ahead one there and stands out, Ronan, Lannigan had one that just comes to mind. And even Kieran Russell's point, like he had the whole space between the 13 and 21 meter line in that right hand

quadrant to kick the ball. So I think the lack of a press from Milton is something that Sean O'Brien and his management, would be really, really disappointed with because it just allowed a rogue. If you give them time to build those blocks of phase as that they do, and it's like they reach the 45 and meet a bit of a wall. And then it's like the train and go coaching led by shiny buckling the lads kicks in, where you can see these pre plan move happening. Those three or four lads make in different runs and you know, or something common. And more often than not, it's actually Mark McInerney coming on a loop to take the ball from Kieran Russell, aunties left peg and saw that happened twice in the first half yesterday. So they're just so comfortable and clinical in everything that they do. For me, I just think they're being allowed to do it a little bit too uncontested, just something I think for people to watch. Okay. Well, they'll have to mull over that over the winter. Camarillo Bricken, as I mentioned earlier on the 20, 25 point marriage between them and Kilti cert, people have been hearing and a cochleon speaking and the sports bulletins that this was the performance they were building towards all season. But it's going to be a very different challenge that awaits them in the final itself.

But I mean, from a neutral perspective, it's a, as I mentioned earlier on the rebound, mouthwatering. That's two jogger and all's going at each other. Yeah. Look at the heart. Looking forward to. I know. Listen, yeah, Camarillo into their third final of the decade and all three of them have been against their rogues. So, you know, there is a bit of a rivalry building there in a rog. Hold the upper hand. There's no question they've won those two finals. Since the new Jack Taylor, he was minted a couple years ago. It hasn't left Clan Road more like and that's that's so much even for the Tony's. Climori would be looking to bring it up to hand till John Tierney will be hoping that he'll be light and bonfires above the top of it again. But it's a massive, massive task like him. And I suppose the fact that they wrote, no, don't have the the holling commitment side or like Shane Daniels actually referenced in his interview, which again will hear later on this evening that he doesn't think said, I don't actually know what to do this week. He said, because we've never had the footballers exclusively to us for the last while. So he said, I don't know actually what this week is going to look like in terms of our preparation. So that's a new thing I suppose, but a welcoming for them to manage for Climori. Yeah, you're right. And the lads all referenced that after it's chatting to him on the field like they said,

they felt it had been building like they had been created. I think a reference that here on Friday, they had been creating chances and had just been a little flahool looking front to goals in their previous games. But on yesterday, it just seemed to click. Even the ball to counter-bark for that first goal was perfectly weighted. And even the fourth goal that they turned over to Dysert, went on a sweeping counter attack and they were clinical and that's what they do. That's what teams I think have to do. I think that greatly can be team of the mid-naughty's taught us that there's no room for sentiment here in games like this. You have to be clinical and take your scoring chances and that's what Climori did. For Clidysert, I suppose there'll be disappointed maybe with the non-performance in a lot of ways, just things didn't go right for them. I have to say that the marking job that a young man named AJ Daily did on Emmett MacMahon is certainly of note and something to applaud here this morning. He's that Johnny won a monster championship with Climori playing up top. Age is developing into a top top class defender, big athletic strong young fella. And I thought he did a fabulous job on taking him. It's influenced out of the game. Maybe one thing that the lads will be looking at is that the couple of turnovers from kick-outs,

I thought at times Climori struggled to get their own kick-out away. I'll be if in Cahill had one of these better games, but like Climori's trio up top. If I'm not mistaken, I have to top my head and you can tell people I don't have any Northseer in front of me on Tinkin through the front part of my brain. Yes, Zyze closed. Two-four for Connor Bourke, two-three for Cahill Telti and six points for Keaton Sexton. That's from your trio up top. That's somehow. That's some scoring. And as I said, that's what was built in. But it came because of the influence that Age had had was having from a defensive perspective. The ball carrying that the likes of Quilin or D and Dara Sexton, I thought had another fabulous game. And in the corner, Andrew Shannon was absolutely so solid defensively as well. The amount of interceptions he made was brilliant. So yes, a great day from Climori perspective in terms of scoring and all that. But I suppose the game did start to get away in the closing stages. So I've note out that boys will take that into account as well when they're reviewing this and planning for the final. But I think it's just absolutely more watering. Like on one hand, you have Evan Telti and in the Cochland sitting down to plan against Chandanniel's and Shawnee Wockley. Like it's two fantastic management teams.

They'll try to outtink each other. They'll try to outtink each other and on the field that the players will try to outdo each other. And I think it's going to be a brilliant county football final. Could it be a third time lucky for Cahill Telti? We'll come in for the day out anyway. You look at obviously with that hat on, I want to say yes. But I think it's going to be one of the most hard air and championships. If that's how it does go. And I think your org will be of the same mindset that if they're going to make it three in a row for the first time in their history and the first time since Kiroch did it in the 1970s with that fantastic team that went on to do five in a row, I think your org will know that they're going to have to be at their absolute maximum as well to take down this Climori team. So I think that's just what makes it so intriguing. Both sides know that they have to be on a day. They have to be having their best day of the last couple of seasons. Not just of this season, but of the last couple of seasons, after going to the end of this game on either side. So it should be absolutely brilliant. OK. Really looking forward to that one. Derek, thank you very much. I want to give a quick word. We're talking about teams, make it to the final. What about teams who are supposed to mop in their brown going? We've preserved our status for another year.

Yeah. What again, that was done in Clurcasta yesterday evening. The first thing I suppose is to say in best wishes to Climori stand Keating software series and of looking leg injury. He was stretched off the field. I'm led to believe it's not as serious as people first. Top we wish him the best to look and he's recovering anyway. And for the same break ends the idea what my leg, Jamie stack turned under the scoring boots in the second half with the breeze. Kick the number of two point freeze to Toltenham to put his team and back into the senior angst for next season. For Climori, I suppose it's been a numbers game. They've been carrying quite a tight panel all season. And maybe it just told in the closing stages yesterday, they didn't seem to have the second puff to come like they mounted a brilliant hard quarter. Come back, they got a merritt Noley regal and a Dan Keating two points to turn a half time deficit around and they led by a couple of points. But just when the push came to show up, Sam Brickens really kicked on and they looked to just put an extra this season and and move on to next year with bigger things to fry. And I suppose taking Climori's place in next season, senior football championship would be either the banner or wolf tones. We had two brilliant intermediate semifinals as well.

The banner beaten Clourosh by a single point and that man Shane me and coming up with the winner. Anybody that knows Shane and knows his style of running. It was one of those regally bouncy points where he just kind of cut through a number of players and almost off balance falling put the ball between the post for the winning score. And I saw a couple of people online saying, I didn't know Shane me. He was such a brilliant footballer. He's the 2019 Monster Minor player of the year. He's always been top class. He's absolutely brilliant in ballcoats. And that's the first ever intermediate final now for the banner. So for them to go senior would be just unbelievable for the work that they've put in out out in the Shenaway road. So their face and a wolf haunts team thought that found their second puff against Nevone. We said here, you know, the fairytale final would have been the men from the peninsula versus the banner and see which one of them will go senior for the first time. But ultimately will tones in extra time kicked on and proper good score and extra time as well. Like often extra time can be a case of what's going to your opponents two points to one and just get north of the line. They kick for home and got goals and like Tahilohan was absolutely immense. Tareli he played a fantastic game as well. And in Jamie O'Sullivan, I think they were the best defenders in the counties. So they'll be well primed for that.

And as was the banner will be well warned as well. Wolf Taws won't care a jot for fairytale stories. On Nevones 50th anniversary year in 2024, it was Wolf Taws that stopped him going senior in that intermediate final. So they're not going to be looking at their pieces. Yeah, they're not going to be looking at the banner and saying, ah, to be lovely for the boys, see it up seen for the first time, not a chance of it. So again, brilliant final in store there. Okay, brilliant stuff, Derek. Thank you very much.
