What is up, hoties. Welcome back to another episode of Stay Hot. I'm Blighten Kirk, joined as always by my two favorite co-hosts of all time, Matthew Spotauer and Theo Ash here for a little bit of talking about teams through week two that we've been disregarding to some extent. We're going to talk about the Raiders and the fact that they're two and O, man, and we've got some stuff to talk about with their offense. Carson Wentz, Kurt Cousins leads the League of Touchdown passes right now. Got to talk about the Rams and the Giants, particularly the future of this Giants offense right now. And then Devonte Adonament, Crazy Eagles offense. We're going to talk about the Saints and then we'll do the Stay Hot locks and it'll be a fun time. Fellas, I don't know if you noticed, but someone on Twitter pointed out that in the Stay Hot locks, we are currently averaging more rule changes per week than points scored. Well, hopefully that changes. But how are you guys doing on this beautiful Wednesday evening? I'm doing well.
I've got a new computer. So that's why my angle is a little different. I got a desktop. So it won't take my upload it all night to upload anymore. So that's exciting. And I finished my book, Blood Meridian, which I meant to read for a long time and got it from the library and read it and returned it to the library. And I'm feeling good about myself because of that. And it's a good book. It's a little depressing at the end, but it's a good book. Are you on Goodreads, Theo? I'm not on Goodreads. I'm not on Goodreads. I got to log some movies on Letterbox that I've seen as well. I watched the movie Rollerball. Have any of you guys heard of that? It's kind of obscure. I hadn't heard of it. It's kind of football adjacent. Rollerball. James Conn, he's the lead character. And he's like the Tom Brady of this sport called Rollerball. And this sport exists in this corporate apocalypse, basically, where one company makes all the
decisions for the entire state of Texas. And he plays for the Houston team. And the sport itself is crazy. And this big, this big wooden circular arena that's moving one way. And then they shoot up all the opposite way. And then the teams are on motorcycles and roller skates, going around this arena. And they're colliding into each other at full speed and dying. Conn is like the superstar who knocks everybody out and scores and just does everything. But the corporate owners want him to retire for some reason because he's like too good. And he's giving the people in actually that's kind of spoilers. Sorry, Rollerball spoilers. He's getting a little too good. And for kind of mysterious reasons, the corporate ownership wants him to retire. And he's trying, he won't retire.
And he's trying to figure out why and they keep changing the rules to make it harder for him. The lead character, Jonathan, Jonathan E. Mumbles every single one of his lines. There is no music basically over the course of the entire movie. So you kind of got to grit your teeth and go through it because there's not a lot of like sensory stuff happening for you. You've kind of just got to go through the mumbling and just the raw sounds of shuffling around for a lot of the movie when he's in his house. But the actual Rollerball scenes are crazy. I want to play, I want to be a Rollerball analyst. But anyway, that's the media I've consumed. Blood Meridian and Rollerball. You know, Theo, it sounds like you watched like an actual piece of art. And the movie that I watched recently was Thunderbolts because I heard that you had to see it prefer seeing the new Spider-Man.
So how is that? It was honestly, it was, it was pretty good. I was going into it with very low expectations in like the post end game, Marvel, you know, cinematic universe. But I thought I was, I thought it was an interesting, a little bit of a fun watch. You know, they've got this like crazy superhero that's basically unstoppable and they stop him with the power of friendship. So did you see Spider-Man then? I have not seen Spider-Man yet. Okay. But I'd be curious to know how that one is. I know that it's now the highest grossing box office movie ever. It'd be The Force Awakens, I believe, to be number one all time. The Force Awakens was the highest grossing movie ever. It's a new Star Wars. That can't be that. I guess that's the first New Star Wars movie in like 20 years. Yeah. Plus that one was good. That was a good movie. They were all good.
I don't know about the last two, but the first one was good. Every Star Wars movie ever is good. A real discerning palette you've got. It's true. It's true. Just like every football game ever is good. You know? I don't know. I don't know about Monday night. I don't know if that was a good game. Giants fans in particular might disagree. Yeah. That was not a good game for a Giants fan. Giants fans, there's probably not a single Giants fan listening to this podcast. You're probably all just doing yard work or knocking out homework or reading, going to the library for some days the rest of the season. I think that's what I might do if I was them. I mean, it's really tragic when you think about how good they looked week one. You know, there were some questions coming into the season and we talked about this
and kind of our week one recap. Like neighbors coming out and having the performance that he did and Dart looking as good as he did. Like that had to inspire so much optimism just for Dart to, you know, get her and you're thinking, okay, maybe it'll be out for a few weeks. Nope. Season ending. And then neighbors is also dealing with potentially a torn labor. I didn't check before this if that was confirmed or not. Like he's dealing with, he's dealing with injury stuff and it's just like all the sudden the season has fallen apart in literally one week. Yeah. The neighbor's injury was the most bizarre to me. Like just watching that over and over again, like you just could not figure out anything that went wrong. And last year when he tore his ACL, I know he was nursing a labor and issue and the narrative kind of was well, he's out all year for this ACL. At least he gets to nurse some of these other injuries that he's had. And at this point, I don't know if there's a player more made of glass than Malik neighbors
right now. It just feels like this guy cannot ramp up and get going with all kinds of different things that he's had. And I think that he's not out for the year or anything like that. He said his shoulder is okay. He said that it popped out and he popped it back in. And so he could be back as soon as next week it seems. But even still it's like, jeez, like his body language and all the reports about how unsure he kind of was about playing week one. He ends up doing it. I thought he looked pretty good week one, but he was kind of slipping on some of these outrouts. He's so good that I just expect him to look amazing all the time. And I think it was almost below his standard, even though it was a good game from him because he was on the floor. And then we too, he just rises up for what seems like a basic combat catch and his shoulder pops out of his socket. And I'm still not sure he's got quite his sea legs under him.
I think I just hope nothing worse happens to him in the coming weeks because it just, like hold him out until he's healthy at this point with dart out for the year. Like make sure nothing terrible happens to neighbors. Yeah, I mean, I think with dart out immediately this season becomes about, you know, playing for the next and developing the young guys. For as good as they looked in week one without dart, none of that stuff I think is going to work on the same level. Of course, James was really, really bad in relief. His accuracy was atrocious and his decision making is poor. And I know he's got like the reputation is like this gunslinger, but really like to be a backup gunslinger doesn't take much other than like a decent arm in terms of like the velocity you can put on the ball and, and willing this to throw a bunch of interceptions and just like put the ball in harm's way, right? Which I guess is more than you can say for the bottom 10, 15 backups maybe, but man,
it was a really, really underwhelming performance against a tough defense granted, but still, I'm pretty bummed for the giants considering how cool they looked in week one. And if you're dealing with like, you know, burns was injured and Thomas and all this different stuff like all happens in the same game, it was your big fear with the giants, right? Like all of their core players have these injury issues, at least offensively they do and a lot of the defenders, I guess, but man, if if you're immediately seeing everything kind of crashed down week two, it's just tough to fire up the mocked draft machine just yet. So I think it, I mean, it sucks. I don't know what else to tell you. Yeah. Yeah. Losing, losing the quarterback classic season under a infrared, you can't. Classic. It doesn't. What are you going to learn season over than that? And yeah, Dart was looking very good, getting to the backside of reads. I thought week one pretty accurate, like throwing off the back foot and continuing to complete
passes. I mean, even the throw to Theo Johnson was a great read where he got hurt. It was a great read and a catchable explosive play and just, just sandwiched. I mean, absolutely killed between two people and you see that leg kind of get pinned in that collision and go the wrong way and immediately it didn't look good. They were saying four to six weeks, the lip readers were out. I was never quite sure about that. Sometimes you just see these injuries in it. Whenever you see that leg go sideways the wrong way, it's it's not good. Hyper extension went like the ant injury when it almost totally flattens out or even goes backwards. That looks maybe uglier, but a lot of times those aren't as bad. Those are hyper extensions. When it tweaks to the side, that always really scares me and makes me think ACL, although I don't know what Dart's injury is yet.
I was checking everything today and they haven't said specifically from what I can tell. Everything is very misled. It's like some sort of knee surgery in general. But a lot of quarterback injuries, just a lot of death and destruction this week with these young quarterbacks. I feel like has been the theme of the week, Caleb, Dart, Jack, like, Jaden Daniels, just brutal. Some of these mobile quarterbacks are just and none of them really came scrambling or taking big hits or doing some of the things that we get concerned about. But still, I wonder what it is quite about these young quarterbacks and dealing with injury concerns. I don't know. Maybe there is no takeaway from it, but it's a shame. It is. As far as the Rams go, they look a lot better this week, given the situation of the Giants, but Stafford being kind of back on track as far as I can accuracy and a comfortable at East End point is much better to see Devonte Adams looking like the best receiver in the
NFL was was certainly not on my bingo card, but he does kind of just have this like I don't know what even to describe it as where like his route running has survived, you know, kind of the the age and he still has good hands, right? And so I've been thinking about, you know, maybe I tweeted that he's like the most ethical receiver of all time. Like he's just an ethical winner. But I was thinking about like, oh, he scores all these touchdowns, you know, and he's this great red zone threat now. You know, you're wondering like, you know, that's historically like a very inefficient play like the red zone goal line touchdown, goal line fade type stuff. But it's usually because of like a 50 50 ball with Adams, it's not because he just kind of gets open, right? He's able to win at the line of scrimmage, he's able to win with his release. And so he has enough separation that the throw becomes a lot easier than a normal goal line fade than even like a Mike Evans or a Calvin Johnson goal line fade would normally
be. I think about what I saw in the World Cup this year from like Lionel Messi and an Airling Holland is these top strikers and how they just spend a lot of their time just kind of walking around and staying still and choosing their spots and choosing their moments. And I think that that's what makes Devon day such a great player at this age and such a great red zone weapon is, you know, you want to press up on the red zone plays and on the goal line plays and not allow anything easy. And he just takes his time, right? It's it's a rise up out of the stance and it's just such a little casual bounce inside. And everybody's so relaxed. Everything looks so relaxed until it hits. And then there's this flash. There's this moment where all of the old youth and power just summons up out of him and and guys just aren't expecting it with such a casual start to these releases like the
tempo and the relaxed like it's just a stroll in the park like it's just the easiest thing in the world to set up these releases for Adams. It's always been super satisfying to watch. And I was I was thinking just about Stafford to and I was thinking about him and Rogers and how poor Rogers is right now at this stage of his career and how scared he is and just how weird it would look to see Rogers looking like Stafford does now with the amount of no looks and testing the middle of the field and trying to layer things like I was trying to figure out what it is about Stafford that's like kept him so good and you know so much better than Rogers at kind of a similar age. You know, both the two oldest players in the league pretty much. Yeah. I don't know. I don't know what I would say separate because I'm trying to think when was Rogers last
really, really good. I mean, he was 38 in Green Bay throwing 37 touchdowns, four in her sections at 37. He led the league and touchdown passes with 48 had a 70.7% completion percentage Stafford's 38 right now. Like yeah, maybe Stafford at 43 won't be. It won't be quite wise right now. And if there is a five year gap, yeah, if there's an ease injury in between. Yeah. That's that's pretty good analysis. I'd say it. So yeah, I feel like we have these expectations of Stafford still that are relatively fair. The real the real thing about this offense that kicks so much as though is the run game. Like the fact that they can just go and have 12 carries with Kyron Williams and he'll get 7.1 12 carriages Blake Korn will get 6.6 yards per carry. The fact that they can be so efficient with two different guys, their offensive line is just undeniable.
Their run block win rate is currently fourth in the NFL at 78% according to ESPN. They've just been so good at not just the guys that they have, but the way that they're able to scheme things up, they're so good at like choosing their pullers and they can kind of line up in a wide variety of ways with the tight ends and the motion tight ends and they'll pull the tight end back as a lead blocker and like they can just do so many different things in the run game. It just makes them so dangerous. Yeah, that's really their bread and butter. I mean, they have the MVP and all these weapons and you can think of them as high flying because they score so many points and they are of course, but the real meat and potatoes of this offense and the number one thing you've got to defend if you're playing the Rams are these duo plays behind Avila and Dotson. These are big guys sturdy. They shuffle forward with a wide base and just like roll their hips and just shuffle
through you, right? They're not really on the run striding out very much. It's just these frog walks forward and they are able to generate so much power from the ground. Dotson is if he catches you on an edge, he's very athletic finishing plays and being just dynamite opening large casms. Of course, they've got all the tight ends. Puka will insert when he's healthy and Votions really capture the eyes of the linebackers from him and then they go right up the middle with guys with great footwork and vision in the run back room. So yeah, that's the number one thing and why the giants were always going to struggle a whole lot defending the Rams is because without Dexter Lawrence, their detackle room was very thin. This was a bad matchup even to begin with for the giants even if they didn't have the injuries that they had. I think it would have been really, really tough for them to beat the Rams. Stafford has just not been under pressure very much.
He has, I think they're under pressure. The second least amount of any team behind the 49ers, I think it's the 49ers and Rams leading in straight dropback pressure right right now. Yeah, this offensive line is tough to beat. If you can beat him, you can disrupt Stafford, disrupt his accuracy, but it's a lot easier said than done. They're defense too with Aaron Donald getting back now. Aaron Donald look pretty good. I must say. That's I thought. Yeah, I'll go ahead. Also too, I thought so too, commanding a ton of attention and on the play where dark got hurt. At first, I thought dark could have maybe stepped up a little bit and he probably could have, but upon the rewatch, you see Aaron Donald on that play, just swipe Maui Noah's hands away, cross one foot over the other. You see that timing still there, that lateral agility still there, that balance when Chip helped come still there, it was very encouraging, I'll say, like when they were trying to pin
him and get to the perimeter, even if it was versus Andrew Thomas, who also got hurt at this game, he was even able to kind of keep his arms long on him and stay balanced and work over and pursue some of these runs. So his hand strike looked amazing, his ability to stay stout and work across somebody eventually looked amazing. I thought it was a really good debut from Aaron Donald, didn't really show up in the stats cheap much, but I think he was, I think it was winning over these guards. Yeah, definitely was and I mean, you're going to get Garrett back at some point this year. We were a little nervous after week one. I think you feel a lot better after week two and then we'll kind of see how the season progresses for them. Do you guys want to talk about the two and no Raiders? This is something that I think none of us saw coming, dude. No, no. The Raiders, I don't know, what were, what were my thoughts on them mostly was about the offensive
line and just just how much better it is this year. Yeah, I think that's a big swing factor. The defense, doing a good job against two offenses that we now see is, or not, not, yeah, two offenses that we now see is like, you know, a Miami team that we knew was going to struggle and then a chargeers team that has been struggling and can't catch the ball and can't block and Herbert's not playing well and like everything is going wrong for them. It's like, okay, you know, that's, that's not a total shock because they were working from a decent place last year and they added some talent. The offense being as strong as it is, especially without bowers is kind of a shock and it absolutely does start up front where I feel like overall they've been able to run the ball decently and they've been able to give Kirk Cousins, you know, an opportunity to sit back there and make deep throws down the field where you were a little concerned that, okay, Cousins, he's one of those guys very much in the tier of like the arm still fine and, you know, clearly has played a long time and can see the game, but his physical
options are just very, very limited. And if he's under pressure, there's only going to be so much that he can do and he's going to get to a point where he says, well, I got to get the ball out and when he has to get the ball out, especially if there's receivers that you don't trust, which we didn't know what this core was going to look like going in. We said, okay, that could end up quickly with like him throwing a bunch of interceptions and people saying like, ah, this guy, you know, the Bozo gene or whatever when in reality is just like physically, you get limited to the point where you're kind of forced in that for a number of reasons between I think the receivers have showed some life and the offensive line that hasn't been an issue. Yeah. The offensive line is first in pass block win rate, according to you. Wow. Is it first? I knew it was good because they're playing good, but, but I didn't expect it to be first in pass block win rate. Wow. Yeah. They're kicking so much ass of front. Do you think? And Jackson powers Johnson is a duo that I've really enjoyed watching.
Both of them can really reach you and kind of swivel late into the block and seal off lanes. Those two have been really, really sticky. I think DJ Glaze has played pretty well. The right tackle, who is a big question mark coming into the year. And because Colton Miller on the other side is so good, help can flow to DJ Glaze. So even if he is a weak link, if you're dealing with Michael Mayer on the way there and your dealing with action, Gen T flowing out that way on the way there, like that weak point gets gets hit pretty well by this clink Kubeak scheme with a lot of under center and a lot of play action with Gen T kind of leaving out that side. Bradford, the left guard is a bit of a weak point, but overall they've got three guys playing at a really, really high level. And with scheme, you can kind of mask some of the other, some of the other problem points. Their top five and sac rate right now. Their top five and pressure rate allowed on straight dropbacks, also playing very well along with the Rams of the 49ers.
And Kurt Cousins has a bigger downfield like slice of the pie than I thought he would. There's think 14th and intended ariards so far. Trey Harris, a primary deep threat just had a hundred yard game versus the L.A. Chargers. Talker. Yeah. Trey Tucker. And that's just more than I kind of thought we were going to get with Kurt Cousins. I thought it was just going to be this offensive line would have taken a leap this big and it would be too many screens and check downs, especially without powers and they wouldn't really get off the ground like no, this is a well functioning offense that can attack all kinds of different areas of the field right now because of their speedy receivers and because of the protection they're getting. And because of the scheme of of Kling Kubeak, I think he's done a nice job this year that touchdown to Tucker was a great cover to be there where they held one safety and ran that post. There's absolutely no defending that without pass rush.
And they've gotten under center a lot, which has been a problem for Kurt Cousins in the past because he can't turn and run and execute some of these boots and play actions. I think he's a little bit better now that he's removed from his surgery now, but they're also getting under center and dropping straight back without play action and running quick game more than every other team in the league. So they've been able to scheme around Kurt Cousins, protect Kurt Cousins and he's he's looked like a pretty capable quarterback so far. Yeah, the Raiders are 14th and dropback EPA 17th and dropback success rate, which is like pretty solid, especially considering they were 29th in those categories last season to get out of the basement and get to a point where you're, you know, average maybe slightly above average, offensively and in totality and you're off the lines playing really well. You have to feel really good about the current stable that you have and, you know, the situation that you'll be able to throw and dose it into it inevitably when you decide to play
him. Mm hmm. Crosby's also second in pressures this year according to sports info solutions. He's he's been super active and if the offense is going to look like this, hey, baby, was it such a bad thing? He got he got sent back. He's been crazy disruptive. Yeah, man. I, you know, it's it's interesting because that there's there's a world where he is like on the Ravens and he's having all this kick out performance for Baltimore instead of for the Raiders and we're like, man, if only the Raiders didn't get rid of him, they could have been a pretty good team this year. So yeah. Yeah, but seriously, if the defense was really was really be terrible, I mean, he drew the penalty. I got the safety for, yeah, for the Raiders and Joe Alt had four false like four penalties in that game. Like Max Crosby was really a huge reason why they were able to go in and upset the
chargers like that. Now the Raiders, I will say they have played two O and two teams and maybe the two O and two teams that are looking the most dysfunctional of all of them, save the Falcons with a back of quarterback who's now being replaced. So I don't know if I'm bully bought in, but yeah, I mean, like I don't think I don't think they're like among the rest of the two and O teams to be honest with you. I think offensively I can buy into them heading in the right direction for sure. I'm excited about it in general, especially without powers and he'll be back. But like, yeah, of course, like part of the equation here is that they've played like a very favorable first two teams. I mean, like one of your interceptions comes off of like a bizarro drop, another stop, I think comes off of a bizarre like, you know, only the chargers are doing that. No other team in the league drops passes, right?
Them and DK McCaff, those are the two, those are the two droppers. Yeah, they'll hit a pretty tough stretch here after New Orleans. They go Kansas City, New England, Buffalo, the Rams and then they get, they get the Jets and they get San Francisco Seattle, Denver, Cleveland, of course. I've got some slander towards New Orleans. I caught that. As New Orleans, it gets tough. That's what you insinuated right there. New Orleans is kind of tough. New Orleans is kind of tough. I don't think there are offenses that scary. A lot of it is good. I don't think Shuckspin like a world beat or by any means him and cousins are probably in a similar tier right now. They're defense. That would actually, this will be a pretty interesting test because Chase Young's been having a pretty good game or just came off a really good game against the Ravens.
So I'd be interested to see kind of how that plays out him against Colton Miller and Glaze there at the tackle spot. The Saints are smack dab in the middle of my RBSD, MEPA chart like their Rushy, Paper, Play and their Dropback EPA per play. They're dead. Were those two things meet on average? And I think on defense, it's not quite the same way, but still in that kind of middle clump where they don't quite stand out at any particular edge. They're just a very well balanced team right now. I feel like especially on offense, it's ECH and do too much in week to their run game has yet to really get going. Calvin Banks is now set to miss a long period of time with a severe high ankle sprain. So if they're going to be one dimensional, I'll be curious to see if Chuck can continue to like mount these big comebacks because that's what it's been these first two weeks.
But I don't know. I think that him and Alave have been extremely potent so far. And the defense, which I've paid a little bit more attention to is pretty cool. They are kind of the opposite of what you think of as league wide trends. Like I think of the league wide trend of being small and getting a nickel and matching everything you possibly can with too high nickel. That's something the Seahawks not only do themselves on their way to the last Super Bowl, but also something that really started to hurt them towards the end of the year because they were playing all that 12 personnel and play actioning with clenku beac. And you know, eventually teams said like we're not going to give you these single high shells anymore and put JSN one on one and that was kind of the kind of the thing that stopped them. But the Saints are seemingly going in opposite direction where they're in base like versus the Ravens. They're in base versus 11 personnel with chase young split out wide over wide receivers.
And they're like we're going to stay big. We're going to get big and you're going to have to run through a lot of big people and big ed rushers and big nose tackles and not only that, not only are we going to have five off defensive lineman out there all the time. We're going to blitz Kate and Ellis constantly. I don't think he's that good. Shut a contact at the second level and dealing with that if you can catch him. But if you blitz him constantly, he can really make an impact in run defense. So they they're aggressive and they're big. And then they're really sound communicating on the back and in Kool-Aid McKinstreet can handle someone on one assignments and let help flow into other places. So I think Staley's coordinating the defense quite well. They got a dangerous wide receiver who's been on absolute fire to begin the year and have they've shown the ability to drop back and come back from deficits on offense. I like where the Saints are at right now. I don't know if they're I don't hate it either.
They're tenders. It's it's I mean, the run game has been weird. The Camarad touches are kind of surprising. A lot of that has been great. And you know that you're well, you're hoping that eventually Tyson's going to come back and be a great player too. And I think the high end outcome for the Saints team is that the schedule gets easier and then they get Tyson back and the offense gets really rolling because I think Shuck is a type of guy where he's not, you know, a world-bending guy within himself at this point, but is he good enough where if you have like an elite receiver like Olave, that Olave can go off for these great performances and you can put yourself in games where, you know, maybe you have to come back down. Absolutely he can. He's kind of funky. I do feel like for a lot of this game, it was underneath, underneath, underneath so many check downs, so much just like short stuff over the metal. And you've brought that up before and I almost wonder if it's kind of like they get down
and then it's like, well, you've got to force the issue and then Shuck is like, well, I'm pushing the ball a little bit more and you've gotten some good results. I think he's kind of also one of these guys who gets a little choppy under pressure, feet wise, especially, he'll kind of turn into the backs of a couple of offensive linemen, but he's not in like when he gets under pressure before he like gets out of the pocket or something like that, but he's not incapable of making good plays. There's times where he'll be running to the line of scrimmage and then pop up and make a throw that impresses me or, you know, times where he can't get away and at least get that rid of the ball. So I think he's got enough juice in that regard. And if he can find a balance between being aggressive and like, you know, making the right read and playing it safe and just knowing when the force of the issue in general, I feel like he can turn into a really good quarterback. And the hope is with great receivers, it's easier to build that confidence being more aggressive as the season goes on rather than if you're playing with horrible receivers.
It's impossible to build confidence because every time you try to be aggressive, something is going to go wrong, right? So yeah, that's the vision for New Orleans. I think I don't think it was like some perfect game from Shuck and I don't know if anybody's really claiming it to be, but there's definitely enough there. There definitely is. It just depends on the health. It sucks that banks has hurt. It sucks that Tyson's hurt and it sucks that the run game didn't like immediately. I feel like start being one of the units that could really carry this team forward, you know? Yeah, I keep waiting for that from the Saints. Like one of these days, they have offensive linemen that I like. Like one of these days, they're going to be like, get under center and mash you. I feel like that's what Kellan Moore wants to do, but it just has never really come to fruition. They got the names though. Look at the names, man. They got Eric McCoy. That's really it. Yeah, they got Eric McCoy. They could also be a Ravens thing. I saw a split from stick to the model on Twitter that said since 2018, Baltimore has a top
five defense over the whole game and the worst defense in football in the fourth quarter of a one score game. So their defense is constantly blowing leads like this and letting the team down, letting Lamar Jackson down. Dare I say it was crazy to see the Ravens lose this game because I'm watching the tape and Lamar is super accurate down the field. Like I'm waiting for the Saints defense to make a play. It's like it's just not happening. Like he is dead on down field. The zone coverage is just getting picked apart. They're running the football well with their a Kenry screens to dare a Kenry are going well. Like the Ravens are just firing on all cylinders looking dangerous. It's like how did they not like on the all 22? You don't see a lot of the context of like how did they not build up enough of the lead in this time period to to win the game at the end, but it's just hard.
It's hard to build up that kind of lead in football. I guess and the Saints had an unbelievable field goal rush and blocked one. And I guess that kept up in it enough where they can kind of sneak ahead at the very end. Lamar still had a great chance to go down and win it, but then through a really, really horrible interception over and over after playing great the whole game. I thought like man, he's really, really good. It was a shocking interception. But one thing I did forget about in this Raven Saints game is that Stanley did go out in the course. He was questionable going in and then and then it was getting beat and then came out and re injured the ankle. I don't think he'll have to ease out for a long time. But the same change was going to send pressure and I think it's easier to do that when there's there's just such a limited receiver room. I mean, I'm remembering it now that they complete many downfield passes other than to like a couple of bateman and the one to walker they had. They had the one deep ball to walker, but I just think it was difficult to punish blitzes
when you don't have receivers who are going to help you with that. Ultimately, they have to be the option as much as the quarterback is in those situations. And when you're missing say flowers, you're really missing like somebody you've got a key in on as a defense. And I think that's part of what cost them. And then another part of it is just like, you know, they were overall running the ball very well. But if when you blitz, you can get somebody into a negative play and kind of get them away from that type of stuff and then football games are just short. So it doesn't take that many drives. It don't go your way before you can dominate without putting up that many points. They're short and long simultaneously. You don't get that many drives, but man, a lead you hold can really go away if you have it in the third quarter. Like things can look very different by the fourth. And yeah, it's it's a game of such such thin margins. And this was a very lopsided statistical performance when you look at what the Ravens
did versus when you look at what the Saints did in terms of their, you know, efficiency metrics and their success rates. But at the end of the day, it's the Saints who came out on the all side, the wrong side of all the metrics, but they came out on the right side on the on the scoreboard and on the big metric of the points. The best metrics I would say Matt, I'm looking at Lamar Jackson's path. Passing charts from week one and week two Lamar is pretty typical about having like one of the most diverse passing charts you'll ever see. But to your point about them not being able to punish the blitz, like it's super congested in week two, around the five to 10 yard range and like near the hashes. And then quite a lot of passes behind the line of scrimmage. Just not a lot of passes past 10 yards for Lamar in this game. Yeah, yeah. I think that's because Ellis is blitzing so much, right? Like these linebackers vacate that area of the field.
And they like, like I said, I'm like, when are they going to get a stop on these Ravens? Because they're just picking apart those zones. And maybe the losses A flowers has more to do with the fact that those little, you know, hitched down routes to replace the zones can't turn into catching curls that go an extra 10, 15 yards and become explosives. And so what ended up happening is the few blitzes that did hit just became more explosive for the defense than a couple of Ravens like Dinkin donks, I guess. Yeah. But Saints, they got a good defense. And you know, maybe I didn't give them enough credit against the Raiders. They have a shot. Well, he don't, he don't have to change your opinion on a team because of one like kind of fluky game. It's really, really tough to sit the entire week on a performance like that and then get up on the podcast and not, but it is, it is kind of a funky one. I would say their defense is also right now more well coordinated than like extremely talented
or something like that. Like the detackle pass rush and the linebackers when they're not blitzing does make this team a little soft in certain places. They've got a good contain rush. I think good communication on the back end, cool in McKinstree has looked good, but I don't know if this defense can rise to a really elite level if banks going down really hurts this, this offense. So they'll be in a dog fight for a bad division, but I don't, they look good so far in terms of my pick for them winning it, I guess, but I don't know. That's it's a really nice game. It is. It's nice. Yes, they win this division, maybe not beyond that. Mm-hmm. They also have a lot of buck eyes. Yes, they don't. They have a lot of buck eyes. I was shocked to see Donaldson on a raw strawberry. Are you sorry?
Are you sorry? Are you sorry? Are you sorry? Are you sorry? Are you sorry? No. That drafted. Donald, yeah. Donaldson was like a very poor power back last year, but I do think he kind of got screwed by Ohio State potentially and the way that they managed him. So shout out to him. Fight his way on a roster. Shout out the big O because Jackson's within Jigboon, Chris Olave, are there two receiving guides leaders through two weeks? I know it's been kind of a comeback for Ohio State against LSU and like the receiver war. That's necessarily going to hold all season and ultimately it's not like Justin Jefferson and Jamar Chase and those fellas have fallen apart or anything. But if you don't look at the MARV performances, things are pretty good for Ohio State receiver. I mean, Jackson's within Jigboon is so good. It's insane. He's ridiculous. Do you still feel like he's not the best route runner in the NFL? I don't know. He's the best.
I don't know. Sure. I can get down with it, but you don't have to kill State. I still think Justin Jefferson, like, is a little got a little bit more. I think Justin Jefferson's good. I don't get me wrong. I agree. I just think Jess has the best route runner in the NFL for sure. He's very good. The shoulder plane shit is very real. Although maybe it is, I maintain the seahawk on the side of that helmet. It makes it look even better. It makes him look even more out of life. It's possible. I think it's kind of entering like a Levion Bell patient's tear. It's like a great where we talk about it so much and it's like just such a common thing to say now, but it doesn't make it not true. Like Levion Bell really was one of the best running backs of the NFL because he was so patient and it was rare. And nobody else has quite been patient like that again. I think J.S. said and how smooth and level he is.
I think it matters that much as a route runner in his profession. I like that. He is like that Levion Bell level of patients, this one trait. Like, yeah, that seems the right. I think he's got that in spades above everybody else that maybe I've ever seen. So. And you just can't let yourself get the mindset that like, oh, is this possibly becoming overrated because now we're just all talking about it over. It's like, I maybe, maybe that could happen, but I think it really just is that important. And it really I just love push offs. And we all know this at this point. I just love a good push off. I just think a push off is the best route you could possibly have. And it's, it's not, it doesn't look. If some, if you post a cut up of route running on Twitter and they're all push offs, it would certainly get a, get nitpicked of like, this isn't really route running. And that's maybe where I, my mentality differs from some purists out there.
And that's why I think people are in JSN's conversation as, as a route runner, but he is the most ethical route runner, maybe to ever do it. And he is the goat like I'd at, at, at when I tweeted that Devon Tay is the most ethical receiver in football. All any rebuttal was just JSN. Yes. Those two are very, very ethical hoops. Yes. Extremely ethical hoops, almost as ethical hoops as our support for today's episode coming from our good friends over at square, the business platform that helps sellers become neighborhood favorite, whether you're running a busy local shop, a restaurant or even a small business on the side square brings your payments, POS, inventory online orders and staff managed to get their all in one place. I have something that I would like to ask before this ad break is over for audio listeners. I am all by myself right now. There's no Theo. There's no blade and my lighting is slightly different and there's a good but not great chance that I'm in a different hat and shirt. I'm here by myself on a different day to ask you to please subscribe if you are not already. Theo and blade and care a lot about the subscriber count so much so that it's very embarrassing and they're so embarrassed by it. They don't want to ask you to subscribe themselves. Me personally, I don't care about stuff like that because I'm the cool one. I'm willing to ask on behalf of my good buddies because I'm also the sweet one.
If you're not on YouTube, a five star rating on whatever listening platform you're on would be fantastic or $20 in the mail, but I'm not going to tell you my address. This stuff is really important. So I appreciate your subscribing or liking or leaving a rating or sending $25 to where you think I live. In fact, it means so much. I'm going to have many play this ad 10 times over kidding. Of course, but can you imagine if we actually did all do that be crazy? Oh, do that be nuts? I'm going to derail the episode. We've been having a lot of ethical ball talk here, but I saw on K Adams show Devonte Adams has a Taco Bell purple card that allows him to buy as much Taco Bell as he wants. He said that he could go and spend $7 million at Taco Bell and have a Taco Bell party and he could do that if he wanted. If you had a purple card, how much Taco Bell would you eat? Now that's a really good question.
Because so to be honest, this is against the spirit of the question. I would be looking to sell that thing immediately. I'm going to ask you once to talk about that. I know. Now that's not really what you're asking, but to be clear, I would see that as like a hazard because I'm somebody who certainly would be using it too much. Yeah, I mean, I would be using it too much. Well, it's free food. It is free food, but it is not good for you to eat Taco Bell all the time. Honestly, I think I would probably, because you can get salads there and stuff like that, right? Yeah. I think I would probably eat there literally all the, I think that'd be okay. I think I would eat there every single day. I think I would go to it. It's free food. It's not great for you, but if you eat some other stuff, you'd eat some other stuff. Pick your spots if you wanted to. Yeah. Right? I mean, and a lot of it is just like meat and beans and cheese, and they've got like
bowl-type things that you can get with like lettuce and tomato and like a Chipotle style thing. So I mean, look, I know a lot of people listen to this podcast. That's probably about what you're already eating every single day anywhere. So if I could get it free from Taco Bell, of course, there's a level of comedy that would come with it being Taco Bell every single day, but I'm not sure that I would buy all that much food outside of Taco Bell, especially considering I live alone, right? So it's not like I have like kids where, okay, they probably need like a glass of milk or something like that. Apple sauce or whatever. No, I could just eat Taco Bell. Yeah. A free like simple ground beef taco. I mean, people love ground beef. People who are really getting into fitness will eat a ground beef taco for three meals a day every day. Like you don't have to do the meat. Look, I am of the mindset that like calories in and calories out is the most important thing above all else. Like if you decided to eat 10 crunch wraps of creams a day, you'd probably be screwed.
Yeah. But if you're, if you're just consuming the normal amount of food that you were already consuming and it's just Taco Bell, I don't think that's going to ruin your life in any dramatic way or anything. I think an interesting follow up would be if you could have a purple card for any restaurant, what would it be? Also a good question. Probably not Taco Bell. Not Taco Bell. Taco Bell. I mean, I don't know. I guess you would start thinking like is there some Michelin restaurant that I could get or do or something like that. But I would also consider that against the spirit of the question. I agree. You'd want it to be something that you'd feel like eating all of the time. Some sort of ball place probably makes the most sense. I think rather than like a Wendy's where I just, I just don't think you can get away with eating Wendy's all the time or McDonald's or something like that.
Maybe a sub place I think could also be in that argument. But if you're getting the card, you want it to be as healthy as possible. I'm probably going to lean like just a Chipotle or something like that. Yeah. I think a fast food place is something with just rice and chicken rather than like a McDonald's burger or anything like that is probably the way to go. But I would definitely want a purple card for the nicest restaurant in town. That would be sweet. I mean, I would probably, when these does come to mind for me, you guys know I love, I love me some big bad Wendy's is like the last place I'd want the. But just be greasy all the time. No, that's fair. That's fair. I do also think about like Bob Evans. I feel like that's within striking distance of the spirit of the question. I don't know what that is.
I would say it's more than within striking distance of being in the spirit of the question to pay Bob Evans, which I feel like just is a restaurant regularly. Sure. But I would. I could see a coffee shop maybe as well. Like I'm a bit of coffee would kind of be nice. But I don't know if that quite has the same holding power as lunch. And I feel like these ball places might be a little uncreative, but I'm thinking like pizza place, no like a chicken. You have to be able to have it all the time. What do you like that you can have the most? And the answer is like definitely the ball place. Also when when me and I guess like if I want to get some beers, I go to Chipotle and like get all of the beers out of their fridge. You know I'm talking about. Yeah. They have like the beers there. So I guess I don't have to buy beer anymore or I can have as many as they have, which may be like 11, but okay. So if me and like a couple of the fellas are going out, we could have a few of those
before we hit the town. Maybe have it that. Yeah. Yeah. I know. I think this is I think that's just true that you would want like a Chipotle or one of the spin offs of it. I might go with like a legal piece here in Denver. That's a chain that is exactly the same as Chipotle, but maybe a little better. I actually don't even know if that's true. It seems better because it's not Chipotle. I think Chipotle Chipotle I think makes sense because it's also national. Right. I would hate to pick some. Yeah, you go like I go out of town like we go to Super Bowl Media Week and you're like, well now I have to pay for food. You know, mm hmm. Yeah. Purple car. I'd still take the nicest restaurant in the town that I live in over Chipotle, but Chipotle has got a lot of stuff going on. Just because, well, I think, I think you can. I think it is within the spirit of the question. Just because you can get free food doesn't mean you can get a reservation. But you could get a reservation like we're talking about defante atoms and we've got this
sponsorship. I actually think that it is that you can just go. Okay. You could just go eat there wherever you want. And even if you can't, like you could make a reservation, like, I'm not, I'm not, I'm not going to live in New York. Maybe there are restaurants that are dead for that. Like, oh, you could never get a reservation there. But like I don't live in New York, city or LA or one of the nicest restaurants in Cincinnati is very hard to get a reservation at. Sada. Okay. It's an Italian place. It is for you. You're going to jam me, call my guys. You would have had that figure. You're right. The King of Coveington. The King of Coveington at you spot now. We would have set you up, man. Facts, facts, facts. It's right next to Boko, which I love. I love Boko. The Philadelphia Eagles are off to an okay start. They're two and oh, they're two of that's that matter.
They're two and oh. It came based on a failed two point conversion from Washington and quite the scare versus Tennessee. And you could argue that. But Jalen hurts locked in, man. In he's go to he did. He did. It's really not hurts that is like the number one issue with this offense like at all, not even not even remotely close at the moment. And that's not to say that you know, he might be number, he might be number 10 down the list. He's he's played, I think, well Smith. He's played well. I think the receiver unit as a whole has played pretty well, even though the lemon involvement has been super disappointing. Not even like lemon is out there and like a disaster or anything. I just wish they could get the ball to a more. The real issue is the run game, right, which was atrocious, like a 33% success rate, 2.8 yards per carry against Tennessee.
And it feels like it's a lot of different things to be honest with you. It does not help that Sequan basically did not play. He had a stinger and he will be back. It also doesn't help that you're playing Jeffrey Simmons, who is one of the best interior defensive lineman. But even with that said, clearly the interior offensive line is a problem right now. You really hope that Big Speed was going to be able to come in and wouldn't sink the offense or anything. And I think the play calling has not been very good either. So there's a combination of a lot of different things that are making me pretty concerned. Right now they just feel like a very stagnant run game. And even when they're faced with numbers that don't favor just a straight run into a teeth of a defense, especially when again, your strength isn't the interior of your offensive line anymore too many times. They end up handing it off and running into a brick wall for nothing. There isn't a lot of play action on this team.
There isn't a lot of trickery in the run game. It's just honest. We don't have the numbers. We don't have the guys. We're just going to run it right at you. And it gets the results that you would expect, especially without sake one, Berkeley, and especially against Jeffrey Simmons. So I think that's turning into more of a concern for me. We talked about it last week and whether or not we're panicking about the interior offensive line. There's still a lot of time and a lot of different levers they can pull and we'll give it a second to mesh together here. If they're going to be willing to run against the numbers, I don't know if the interior of the offensive line is ever going to get that way because we bring up the example of like, okay, we'll see Addles zone game got so much better as a year went on right, but they also had a great play sequencer who would get big and then wait for the numbers to be matched up and then build a play action game on top of that. There was a lot helping those guys that the Eagles just aren't doing right now. So I, I'm decently nervous about how that's looked.
I don't think the story right now for this offensive, this team is Jalen Hertz or the passing game. I mean, they ended up saving them at the end. I thought Hertz had some some really nice moments there. The throw to Smith, they get them down to the end. So it was a really nice whole shot that they needed and he hit it and Smith has been playing awesome. Wix has turned out to be a really good addition so far. Super consistent separator. So I think there's a lot good here and I think there's room to improve that doesn't involve like well, we need to go in the draft next year and pick a guard, you know, in the first round or something like that. Yeah, but they do have issues. They do. I mean, we've talked about the potential of Cereani getting fired right to for several years now because they're constantly in this cycle of good, good, often to play call or good coordinator, bad coordinator, good coordinator, bad coordinator. In one way or another, the cycle was going to end eventually, right?
And if the end with him hiring back to back, bad coordinators, I could see that being the final straw that kind of brings things here. Yeah, I, it's a bizarre world Eagles offense because they're straight drop back game is totally saving them right now after it being kind of invisible in the year that they won the Super Bowl, right? But now, Jalen Hertz has is basically Caleb Williams level of scramble rate and time to throw. If these numbers hold, it'll be the longest time to throw his hat in his career. And it's also the longest A dot that he's had in his career. If these two week sample size numbers here, numbers hold, he has been, I think pretty good or at least this perceived weakness is, is not looking like a weakness so far. He's, I've seen him really scramble around and have some good pocket presence and make
people miss and throw yet a play on a check down last week where like he totally throws multiple Titans defenders in their tracks. There was one where he drifted away from pressure kind of hit behind Lane Johnson who he knew he would, who he knew would protect him and then kind of stepped up after that. Like I like what he's doing from a pocket management perspective right now. I like how he's, I've seen him look off the flat and throw the high corner out on a high, on a high low. I've seen him play or dagger a couple of times now and shoot up the scenes. Like I think hurts is being aggressive in straight, in this straight drop back world that they're living in. But it hasn't come without some ugly moments. His, his kind of mistake rate has risen and the reason that they were in a dog fight with the Titans has to do with two bad picks that he threw. So it's, it's kind of high highs and low lows a little bit in this world. And we'll just see how much they can live there.
I mean, their screen game right now is terrible. Their run game is terrible. They have more run, run play holding penalties than anybody else in football right now. They're not, it's more play action than there's been in the past for them. But that's just because there's been no under center play action in the past. Now there's been a little bit more of it, but there's still 20th in that despite going under center more especially on first down. They just kind of get under center and run like Matt said more play action wrinkles are needed. More lemon wrinkles that are actually effective are needed. And especially with Goddard being doubtful this week. Mm hmm. Block their, their Titans and the blocking game are continue to be disappointing. And they drafted Stowers and, and I just don't know the path to Stowers getting on the field because they have three good. Well, I mean, like they need a blocking tight end like I'd, at Vanderbilt, he could not block like, yeah, would not block like he was beyond even like, I don't know if, if there's an in line role, it's like this guy even as, you know,
a wise is not up to snuff and you have to view him entirely as a pass catcher to the highest degree. So unless something really changes with him and considering his usage right now on the fact that it's hurts. Correct. It's hurts that they've brought back now. Mm hmm. I don't, I don't know if I expect that. That'll, that'll change things. Yeah. We've got a lot of, it's really bad run blocking bodies in the tight end room and at, at guard center guard for them right now to be a very effective run game without extreme creativity. I feel like and the QB run game and the ways they're using a lemon don't necessarily scream to me extreme creativity. So hurts and Devonta, it's kind of hurts and Devonta Smith at carrying this offense so far this season and wicks wicks wicks said had some huge game plays, especially versus the, the commanders, but like if they really feel like they have, they have pieces though, not the interrupt you, but like they have pieces with hurts and, you know, with receivers
who can keep the offenses honest and with sake one when he's 100% is still a great player and you've got these tackles like you have enough here to make up for a poor interior offensive line and not, you know, have a horribly unsuccessful. We're going to get two yards or less on like 60% of our runs type of off. We're going to get the second long every single set of downs. You don't have to do that. No, they have not according to Eagles exonose on Twitter. They have not converted a first and 10 yet this season. They have not gone from first and 10 to first and 10. Now that is, I looked at all their first downs and I did realize that that's that is worded a little bit weasily because they had a first and 17 due to a penalty that they did convert. So they have gone first down to first down once this season, but they have not gone from first and 10 to first and 10. They just, because they're under center all the time running it for two yards. Like they've, they're under center on so many of these of these first downs, like just
running and drawing a holding penalty or getting blown up because Jeffrey Simmons wins literally 100% of his reps versus these guards and center and the center kindle. So they, they have a good defense and hurts is looking good and I could see why they're two and oh, there's, there's stuff to write home about, but it does feel still that the Eagles offense is just way less efficient than you'd expect kind of a super team based on the personnel to be or you know, one of the primary one seed Super Bowl contenders to be. Yeah. Yeah, they're just slow on this, this, they're not creative. They don't have a creative offense. Yeah. It's that simple. Seriani. It's been cool. You're going to get in jane. You're fired. I am going to do it, jig man. I just, I don't even disagree about your point about seriani, but they are two.
I know, man. I don't know if I would call they are after two games. Yeah. They're going to it's just Dallas that's fighting with them at this point. It seems. Yeah. Yeah, I guess that's fair. They're probably going to win this division and still end up being the two seed in the conference. Like I predicted to be if they're offense gets no more creative and it's another miss in that regard. Then yeah, we'll have the conversation, but we got to give it a little bit of time to breathe. Yeah. And I guess making the play making the playoffs isn't a secure thing for seriani. If they lose the wild now game, nobody would care at all. No one would have had. I mean, conference to anything less than conference championship game. I would say as a disappointment, if you play a tough game against like the Seahawks or the Rams or something like that in the divisional, okay, then then we can probably be all right with it depending on how they look. But if it's like a tough loss, but it looks like last year or something or like the defense does everything it can, but the offense is like just running into a brick wall a million
times. No, I don't know. No, man. I think you're you start asking like, can we hire a coach who would be creative and a schematic advantage on one side of the ball all the time? And then we're only messing with this on the other side or could we get them to be like, hey, I'm fine with Fangeo. I don't care about that. Sounds good to me. The defense looks awesome. Just give me the offense. I think that'd be possible too. But that's a way far, you know, that's a far away thing to think about. I spent it for two minutes here, especially for a two and a team. Let's see if someone can be two and a one in the stay hot locks this week. That's the real goal. Let's just stay hot. I hope so. It's so far. It has been embarrassing. But that will have been kind enough to let us keep doing the stay hot locks. Of course, this episode and the stay hot locks are brought to you by our good friend over at dabble fantasy and one of the reasons we've been enjoying dabble. It's that it feels like more than just another DFS app. You can follow your friends or creators, see what everyone's playing and interact with
people before kick off. Dabble just launched 10,000 X, which means you can build an entry with up to 16 legs and potentially went up to 10,000 times your entry amount. So of course, if you stake one dollar, you can turn it into 10 grand. We're going to try and hit this all season long. So download the dabble app, follow our profile, add stay hot pot and copy the plays that we're going to be running. And if you're crazy enough to ride them with us, just maybe we'll do something crazy together. Download dabble. A new user's can play $5 and get up to $50 when they sign up. I think the way we go off the last time is Theo, you get to choose your selection. Oh, let's go. Let me please let me get the first pick. OK. I want the match over the dolphins. Matt, I'll pick your spot here. Sure, I'll take the second and I'll take C-hawks over Washington. Theo's going to take the chiefs.
Matt's going to take the C-hawks. So I guess that leaves me. Give me the bills over the chargers with my first pick. That feels pretty safe the way the chargers have been playing and then give me, see, I want to take the 49ers over the Cardinals. I feel like that's kind of risky in a way that give me the panthers over the Browns. We're going to that game. I might as well. A little emotional hedge here. An emotional hedge. Yes, in a game that's. I'm worried. I'm worried that that's a jinx for me though. Because it would be like both Bladen hits his stay hot lock and the Browns have defeated the Panthers. I will go 49ers over the Cardinals. I'll respect the Cardinals, but I think the 49ers offense is a buzz saw right now. I think Purti is ball and maybe I'm just overestimating it because I was really tapped into the dolphins game because I needed those Willis scammed touchdowns or whatever. But I don't know, man, they look pretty, pretty sharp, even with all the injuries or whatever.
Yes. You know, it's Shanahan and for what it's worth, Purti is the best quarterback he's had in San Francisco by a lot. Yes. And it's like not even a debate. Really? So yeah, I'll take the 49ers. I will go with the Eagles over the Bears since the Bears are likely to be starting case. Oh, yes. I don't. Is it got about that really asked for me because in the 32% fantasy league, I have Caleb Williams and then I'm like, Oh, I'll get Tyson Beijing. That's the backup. And I found one to get Tyson Beijing because people were sniping other people's backups, but I had the stack. And for the second year in a row, I get the stack of quarterback backup and they both get hurt immediately. Last year, my homes in Minchue, I had Minchue. I didn't even get one play of Minchue. And now we're here like five weeks later in terms of fantasy football weeks.
And the exact same thing happens to me again where the starter gets hurt in the backup despite playing for like one minute has instantly gotten hurt. And of course, I don't have case kingdom. And I'm salty about it, but I will be taking the Eagles and project them to stay hot versus the Bears. I think the defense is going to be tough sledding for a case. Yeah. Yeah, I feel you. It's tough. I wouldn't bother trading for a kingdom to be honest with you. I think I would just hold out. I mean, it's just a week. I should have. Yeah. I think I could have done it. No, I don't. I think there's a point where the roster is just like. Yeah, the roster spots, the roster spots are tough. Like you can't just go quarterback three and quarterback four and all that crap, you know. Do you got another pick here? Oh, yeah. If you want. I feel really good about these two. I think I might just stick. I think the chiefs and the. And the Eagles can get me through.
I'm. Maybe I'll get green. I'm going to get a little greedy because it's just my way. I'm going to go with. The bangles over the Steelers. That's one I would have taken to. I'll go with those three and then I'll be out. Yeah, it's still out with my two. I'm terrible. Yeah. It does. It does. It does. I guess I'll be out with my two also. So I feel at risk of going negative two, but I didn't. With the bills and the Panthers. I don't know if I am. Chargers upsetting the bills would be a crazy get right game. But I don't know if it would have been my first box election. I have to stop dropping the ball. And of course, like both their technical. Colour and in Joku being done is crazy. They can act that right. And they it's just all of all of the cute moves that they made essential air done.
Yeah. And we going into week three. It's over. I overrated Herbert. I'm guilty of that because I should have known that this roster was at high risk of a failing like I should have known when they were on their preseason broadcast with the GM. And he said, well, we got the biggest fish. We felt there was in Mike McDaniel. Like who cares who the offensive coordinator is if the talent sucks, I don't know. But I could have worked better if any of the talented state healthy to be honest with you. That's I mean, first off, like, you know, losing the interior offensive line edition that you made sucks. And it's hard to see that coming. I'm a little surprised with how weak it's been so far regardless. I mean, I did have them third in the AFC West, but it wasn't by enough as things look right now. So I think they can rebound some like away from just the bizarre drops that they've had for sure, but their defense might. Their defense might be really bad.
Yeah. Yeah. And that thing is it like the bills defense has been kind of keeping them in the shootout. But I don't think the the charge is going to have a lions moment where they're able to like lock in and access their elite wide receiver in the second half. They just don't really have that that button to press. I think I think the charges have a path to victory though, because I don't know if the past rush for the bills is guaranteed to be good. Their defense hasn't really graded out very well statistically over these last couple of weeks. So there could be a get right. Oh no. I mean, I think the game for the charges offense, but I don't know either Dion Walker versus whoever's in the middle here. Right. The big. That's the thing is like the one thing that's good about the one thing that's good about this bills defense is like the interior. I feel like more than anything else. And it's like that's where the charges are extra weak. I don't see the vision here at all.
So yeah. I'm the patriot. And I said to play didn't like against all the horrible teams. It's going to look at the exact same for Herbert as it does against the great teams. So like maybe they're like equipped to like beat somebody as an underdog because like playing the Ravens or playing the Raiders and playing the Rams is going to like look the same to him. Man, I don't know. These are some theories we got to cook up. Sure, but man, this sucks. Well, it's all level five star difficulty level. So like maybe it won't matter. You're putting it in. Yeah. When you're playing against the charges, it's kind of like all your players have like 99 speed and 99 strength and 90 awareness. So what differences like the actual? Okay. I see the vision. I see the vision. Yeah. They have an equal chance to be any team.
So I think, okay. I think David Lloyd's going to pick the shot Watson off five times. But probably probably true. Okay. And a ward will be jailing coakers son and let's see. I think verse will get a sack. How about that? Yeah. Trust you guys have. Versal goodness fan and will not do anything. Boston will be bored. We'll go home early. Got it. Okay. So the stay out locks this week. The osigin the chiefs, the Eagles and the bangles. Matt's got the sea hawks and the 49ers. I've got the bills and the panthers. We're all still at zero points. And the rules are well, there were no challenges this week, right? So no double points, no underdog picks. So no double points there as well. And that doing the underdog picks. Oh, yeah, we are ready.
We have played in the late and I got to say you make me lose my mind every time you try to explain the rules. You don't you like you have to start from the beginning. You always are like you're like so you can challenge and then that would be double points. We pick teams to win games when you pick a team to win a game. It's worth one point if you get it right. We draft the game so you can only pick each team one time. But the reason why it's the locks, the gimmick is that you have to get all of your picks right in one week to get points. So if I pick three games, I either get them all right and get three points or I miss them all and I get zero or I miss one and I get zero. I should say yes, right? And the gimmick that we're doing this year now, the new fold, I guess, I should say rather than gimmick. So we got to start we got to start moving away from gimmick, I think. Yes. But the new fold that we're adding is that if you get all of your picks wrong, you lose that many points. So if you go over three, you lose three points. We're moving to one to fold.
We're either getting transferred. I think so. No way. Because gimmicks using the blitzing fold. I think so because gimmick, it carries this idea that like, you know, I don't respect the twist I'm putting on thing. Oh yeah. It's my new fold. I do respect my twist and I do. Oftentimes I like my gimmicks. Like I was thinking about the overtime rule thing and I'm like, I'm going to start telling people, this is my new gimmick. It's like, no, it's not my gimmick. I believe it. I believe we should stop allowing themes to kick and college up all over time. That's my new fold. I don't know. We'll have to workshop that, but it's really good already. No, I think I think it's got we I feel the aura when you spawn our week full. We badly need you on the on the interception food. Like think tank to think of something else to. Oh my God. No, it's it's it's the worst. It's ever been. It's it's it's it's so bad. It's it's over for food after week two. It's over and and you've been on this for about a year, I think, is that hamburger has
has is as far as it ever needed to go and we're so far beyond that. It's it's added on. It's just you'll app. It's we need but we need an alter. Actually, maybe we don't need an alternative, but it's it's top mind. I think the issue now is that anytime you try to come up with anything silly to call an interception that it it sounds like you're making a plan and it doesn't work. It really is something that needed like a careful touch of only not always calling everything a hamburger, but like pulling it out at the right moment. And then instead we're like, what if there was pickles on the hamburger? We need we need a different thing that can happen in football to get a silly name like intercepts. Something else needs to be something else. I don't know what that is and I don't know what we should call it, but the real real comedians got to be looking for opportunities in different aspects. Maybe you have special maybe you can look at special teams, but it can't be interceptions
anymore. Yeah, I mean, I've been trying to think of like I've been trying to think of a second funny nickname forever that plays off of like not even play off, but just like to try to top enrolled city route artist and you just can't do anything like that. It can't be in the same format or cadence whatsoever. The only other really funny nickname is white bison, which is awesome. And that was awesome because people get mad at it on the letter and play. I had white bison, bro. Those fans are so on edge. I mean, if you say bison, they'll get all the pride bullets you. I said that Josh Allen was the eye in team because he had tired. Played out of this. I got no, and I was an innocent party. I was I was just calling calling, calling basically calling him the MVP and people are like mad at me. They're on edge. So I don't know. We got to build fans and not like white bison. I don't know. They might not anymore.
I think they're sick of the Josh Allen slander. And I think if you say white bison, they might they might they might. Is it gotten to the point where a nickname is like almost becoming a slander name by default? It we can't. That's interesting. That's interesting. I really like Sherbert for her. But like that. That's funny. It's great. It's funny. It's great. I don't know. I'm trying to think about it. I'm trying to think about a nickname that the issue the issue is that like, okay, here's the problem. You know how you can't give yourself a nickname in the same way. Like the fans of a player cannot give that player a nickname anymore just because of like the dynamics of social media and like Stan football or basketball, Twitter. I think you run to the same problem where it's like they just don't sound natural.
And I know that's not always a case because obviously there's plenty of people who have like very positive nicknames and I'm sure of come from people who like to them, right? But there is something about it where it's like if you're, you know, Jaylen hurt something or other on Twitter and then you try to give like an Eagles player a nickname, it just doesn't quite work the same as like somebody goes up to you at Super Bowl Media weekend says, what do you think about the Emerald City round artist buddy? And you're like, yeah, I don't know. Maybe it just doesn't play the same. Yeah. I think that's why I'm trying to give them silver surfer. It's like, no, dude. Yeah. Sorry. Sorry. But, Theo, do you have any double picks for us today? I do. I do. My double pick is the following, Taekwondo more than 24 and a half receiving yards, KC versus Miami. That's going to, you'll get that in one, one play. Yes. Josh Oliver more than eight and a half receiving yards versus Tampa Bay.
Don't even, don't even talk to me about that one. And then I got Jalen Hertz and Devonte Smith over 216 and a half and over 72 and a half versus the Bears because they've been hoopin. I feel like, and like we said, they're kind of the Eagles entire offense. So those are all overs. And I'm just, I understand people, there's always a stat that like, people, better is always take that over, right? Like, the vast majority of bets are overs. And I always like to be kind of thinking outside of the box and I like to, to try to approach things in a different way. I cannot think of unders to hit, dude. Like, I just cannot bring myself to, to, to fade anybody ever. So I've, I've just leaned into that. I just went with more. You can fade the browns. You can just fade the browns. You're right. You're, you're, you're, you're, you're, you're, you're, you're, you're, you're, you're, you should be, you should be taking the under on Judkins every single week. They cannot run the ball at all. No, they can't.
There he is. He's got like the lowest rushing yards over expected by a lot in the NFL right now. It's bad. Yeah. You could probably do that for the Packers as well. True. What are your yards per carrier right now? Damn, 24 carries for 54 yards. That's tough. He said, couldn't be me, dude, but that is bad. It's bad. It's, it's really bad, dude. It's like, it's 2.3 yards per carry with the longest of nine yards. True. Yeah. Yeah. Don't, does he have fumbles though because Bar Shahn Lloyd is at 19 for 57 and he's got a fumble as well. Judkins does not have a fumble. All right. Is this not have a fumble? Lab that by Lloyd. Is it the fumble? Yes. I see the vision. I see the vision. But those are the stay hot locks brought to you by our good friend over at Dabble Fantasy.
Thank you all so much for tuning in to another episode of stay hot. Super excited for week three of the NFL season. And until next time when we recap it, we'll catch you on the Flippity Flop. You
