The From the BBC, the adventures of Sherlock Holmes. It makes sense what some very dangerous, deadless now at Burleston House. In fact, to McDonald's here, sir. Coming! Coming with the Mac. I fear this means that there is some mischief of what? Great heavens. Why was it an earth's mirror? That paper's those names.
Just a little cypher. Dr. Watson and I have been amusing ourselves with. What I came here to tell you was that Amish the Douglas of Billowstone Manor House Billowstone was murdered late last night. It was a grim coincidence. Watson's, my name is Dr. Watson, privileged to share the adventures of Sherlock Holmes. I'll tell you about the Vanilla of Shire, which began with Holmes being a rather bad manor. If you'll see what I mean in a moment. I mean, kind of thing. I should do so, Watson. I come, I saw one of them as long suffering and mortals with them. That was my dear Watson. Well, Desiro, you're late to crying and time you sit there, I am breakfast untested.
It's poor, Oxford, right? There can be no doubt of it. The green tea with a peculiar tough fetish is distinctive. Then who is Polak? Polak? Oh, Polak Watson is an underpume. And their identification mark behind it lies a shifty and a basic personality. The new something in common, whoever he is, the point is taken. The Polak is an important man, well, who not for himself, but for the great man with whom he's in touch. You've heard me speak of Professor Mariati. Hello, I'm Mariati. He must be by his famous man Crookes. He's the greatest schema of all time. The controlling brain of the underworld. But look at him, you were talking about this chap, Polak. Oh, yes. The so-called Polak is my link. And this letter of his? Something of the same kind, I don't know. And only we have the key to the cypher.
Let me even look at the letter. Say it out. No, thank you. Oh, no, I'm a group of figures in terms of your name. No matter you standing a cypher message to someone who hasn't the key, is it? 534C2. 13, 274 Douglas. 17, 26 Burst Day. 46 Burst. Good. It's Kelia reference to the words repeat to some talk. Hello, why have you indicated what book it is? My dear Watson, your native fruitness, that innate cunning, which is the delight of your friends, which shall it prevent you from imposing both the message and its key in the same underlaw? Oh, have I should be surprised that our second person... You can do me just for that. I'm very sorry, I can't do this. I'm sorry, I'm sorry. I'm sorry, I'm sorry. I'm sorry, I'm sorry.
Thank you, sir. Thank you, sir. Thank you, sir. Nothing for you, Dr. Watson, sir. Thank you, sir. Thank you, gentlemen. My dear, your name is Watson. Dear me, this is very disappointing. I first pull up when it comes to any harm. Why, what's your name? Dear Mr. Holmes, I will go and do further in this matter. I can see that he suspects me. I had actually addressed this envelope to send you the key to the cipher, but he came on me quite unexpectedly and I was only just able to cover it up. Of course he is. Please, burn the cipher message. It can be of no use to you now, pull up. I presume the other always more yardier. When any of that party talk about C, you know whom they mean. Anyway, if you pull up as it is and you scare it out of his wits, it's pretty mad, isn't it, Holmes?
I think there may be an important secret hidden on this piece of paper and we have them the part of the pinnetry. Yes. But don't even wonder. Look here, the cipher message begins with a large pi-3-4. We pick it as a working hypothesis that 534 is the page to which the cipher refers. So our book has already become a large book. Well, what else is it? The next sign is C2. What you make of that? Chapter 2. No, hardly. If the page number is given the chapter number is in material. In any case, a page 534 only finds us in the second chapter. The first chapter must be almost intolerable. Oh, column then. Column 2. Brilliant Watson. You're scintillating this morning. Oh, thanks. So now we begin to visualize a large book printed in double columns. Well, have we reached the limits of what reason can supply?
Well, sir, of course you do yourself an injustice. If the volume had been an unusual one, he would have sent it to me. So, did you see he used the book he thought I'd have known to put it in finding for myself? A very well-known book Watson. Large and printed in double columns, a book in very common use. The Bible. Good Watson. Good. That's enough if I may say so quite good enough. Well, why? Even if I accepted the compliments for myself, I could hardly name any volume less likely to lie at the elbow of one of my heart's assertions. Besides the additions of Helioretto and humorous, but he could hardly suppose that two copies would have the same page contents. Now, this is clearly a standardized book. He knows for certain that his page 534 will exactly agree with mine. The Omanek? Ah, the Omanek. Excellent Watson. Excellent. It may be the other thing.
It has a large number of pages yet and it's in double columns. If I remember correctly, it's reserved in its early vocabulary, but becomes quite garrulous towards the end. Well, let's try it. Yes, not in. Now, here is page 332. It's sent a 534 column 2. Word number 13 is there, but it doesn't want to. There. The Word 27 is there is. Yes, that's some better. And next we have the danger. This is it Watson, I'm sure of it. Ah, the word Douglass comes next. Yes, I did that for 15, 16, 17. The 17th word now. 31, 2, 3, 4, 35, 26. At. Yes, there is danger, Douglass now at.
Oh, that burst and the word comes. Next, there's another number. Then, then, burst and again. What? 1434, 145, 146. House. It makes sense Watson, that is danger, Douglass now at. Burst and House. Burst. Wow. Well, Holmes, we did it. We did indeed, my dear Watson. We did indeed. Oh. Inspector McDonald, here, sir. Oh, come in. Come in Mr. Mac. Mr. Yolonel is here today. What's up? Ah, mornings, begger. I fear this means that there is some nistris of what? Great heavens. I wasn't aware, that paper, those names. Oh, who is? Just a little cypher, Dr. Watson, and I have been amusing ourselves, because we exhausted it, possibly, that it is just before you came in hell. I hate to spoil your pleasure, gentlemen, only, eh? Yes. What I can't hear to tell you was that I missed a Douglass of Bill Stone,
Manor House Bill Stone, was murdered late last night. What? Remarkable. Remarkable. And the reason I came to tell you of it is that Ron McCluse, so far, is a card from beside the body, with what appears to be a cypher written on it, the letters V, V, V, 3, 4, 1. And I know you are interested in cypher's, Mr. Ronel. Mr. Mac. I receive a communication from a quarter, which I know to be important. It warms with a danger, threatens a certain person. Within the hour, I learn that this danger has actually materialized, and that the person is dead. I was going down to Bill Stone in the small manor, which seems to be perhaps doing better working London fold. Trust her. Well, since I take it, that end of the blind airs, the one you have messaged the came in, and your ego lies, and it was first in the universe. They're exactly. Well, I have to tell you, once my correspondence name is, Paulop. It's an assumed name.
I promised him he first wrote that I wouldn't try to place it. Do you think there's someone behind him? I know there is. This professor of air dimension? Exactly. Oh, I might have known. And Mr. Holmes, I won't consume from you that we in the CID are inclined to think you may have a wee bit of a bee in your bonnet, over this professor's shop. Oh dear. Mr. Mech, you read about Jonathan Wilde, I take you to... When it's time to scale your business, it's time for Shopify. Get everything you need to grow the way you want, like all the way. Who knew ice cold drinks could be so... ...fired? Try them all only at McDonald's. Yes, yes, some sort of criminal in the old days. Everton comes in subtle, Mr. Mech, even Professor Moriati. Jonathan Wilde was the hidden force of the London criminals in the 1750s of Erbide. He sold his brains and his organisation on the 15% commission. The old wheeled terms and the same spoke comes up. At some time when you were year or two to spare, Mr. Mech, I commend to you the study of Professor Moriati. Very well, he'll keep in the meantime. Of what to really counts, is that remark to viewers about some connection between the professor and this crime at Billstone. Moriati rules his people with a rod of iron. There is only one punishment in his code. It is death. So we might support the first murder man, the Douglas, dead in some way but trade the chief.
Paul Ork would know he was about to be punished. Well, that's an idea. Or Moriati may have been engaged to engineer it on the promise of a part of the spoil, either as possible. But every time he could be something entirely different. But every time he'd be, we must look for the solution down at the bus. Then let's be going. Good lord, it's later than I thought. You've got five minutes to get ready, gentlemen. They'll do it. That's a big, good enough to ring for our boots. Right away, while I change my order, this dressing gown. Oh, what? Mr. Mech. I heard he had the temptation to form premature theories as a bait of our profession. So let's make a bargain about that from the start, shall we? No theories from me. So I can support them with that. Very well. A bargain with the Holmes push. Now, I can only see two things to certain, the present. A great plain in London and a dead man in Sussex. It's the chain between the two wagons of trade. Oh, I pass over that DS talker.
There's a good fellow. What from an idon get a trip into the country, everything? Waaahh! Waaahh! Waaahh! Waaahh! Stop here! Stop late 50, your lady. Hello, Mr. Holmes. I'm Mr. Holmes, Doctor Whaton. Mr. Wight's making Chief Detective of the Sussex Concerned Sub-Lady. How's the meeting going? How's the meeting going? Glad to have you with us, gentlemen. Very glad and good. Well done, right? Now that we have our hands here, no mistakes. Well, there's a carriage outside and a sergeant isn't waiting in. He's the local man down here, posting on this business. And he can give us the details as we drive. That's it. So we're going to get him and I'll leave the way. Excellent. Excellent. Well, gentlemen, it was 11.40, high last evening.
The first word reached me at my house. It was Mr. Barford, competing like Matt at the Bell. And Toby, there'd been a hoarded murder at the moment. It's Tobacco, greasy. And it's the Cecil James Barford, sir. Of Hales, Lod, Himes, that is the particular as I got. They've well known down here. I can come down to stand the manor with Mr. O'Mr. Douglas. Thank you, Zagin. The big ones. I yes, Mr. Holmes. Well, there was a little past 12 when I got there. The sergeant's whole staring above in the hole. Papa Shreik and they look at me. Well, just in, Dr. Witt and the village are right. Mr. Barca leirous into the room when the body ran. It was Mr. Douglas' study. You'll find your evidence straight into the hole. Just in my mind, Sergeant. When you say Mr. Barca leirous to the room, who means actually does the ass? The fur. Adjust me and Dr. Witt, sir. Oh, unhaves, the better. That he colored the harness and closed the door off. He'll be stopped the maze, sir, and see. They might get you, Zagin.
But he sees Sirel in the center of the room, sir. He was on his back with his arms and legs outstretched. He was wearing only a finger to his 19th century. There were carpet slippers on his bare feet. His head would then be only blown to pieces. You are, it have smudged the blood of our men. Well, it's only a fucking sir. Any weapon? I guess it. There was a shotgun lying across his chest. The bowels have been so off short, and the figures were wired together, so they'd go off together. Dr. Seyra, the locks stay in this place. Your sream. I'm asking women. The list job's here as you will see. Well, Dr. Woodward upstairs to see the liches, Douglas. I got my note book out in Aspistabark for a few questions. I got the notes with me here. Yes, this is it. No. First of all, I asked him whether anything had been touched since the business was discovered. Oh, if anything has been touched, since this business was discovered. Nothing has been touched in this room, sir.
You see it exactly as I found it. And when exactly was that, sir? That's half past eleven. How long from hearing the report before you entered the room? 30 seconds at the outside. 30 seconds. Quite dangerous line. Justice, you see it. His bedroom candle was burning on the table. Oh, you see the lampers burning those, sir? Black was lit later in the notes. The lampers? Ah, yes, sir. I let death, humans after I came into the room. Did you see anyone, sir? No one. I heard Mrs. Douglas coming down the stairs. And I rushed out to prevent her from seeing this. Judgeful sight. Mrs. Allen, the housekeeper, came and took her away. The bottle ends here, arrived. And we ran back into her room again together. Oh, I see. It ends, chain with your hands. Yes, Constable. Her hand sighed in the gira-moins. And no, sir. This moat that runs, roys well the house here.
Yes? With the graw bridge across the up or down of the door, you result. Do I know it is myself to come and fetch you, Sergeant? I see. Ah. You're wondering how anyone could have got away from the house after shooting, Mr. Douglas. Wow, sir. Unless Mr. Douglas shot himself? Oh, no. That is out of the question. If you step over to this window. Yes, sir. How long will it be? I call back this, Cadden. You will see the window is full of it. I just hope it ends in my heart. And here on the window, there's a smear of blood and this moat. I guess that's the moat made by the soldiers coming whose boot has been getting out. Why, she was so injured. God, generally, the world's feeling worried as a cross, you see. But you see. And I close the cabin again. Windows, ice, green dust.
No kidding, tell me, sir. What time the drawbridge would have been raised for the night? Hems could get out of there. And it was nearly six o'clock. If anyone come from outside, they must have got in across the bridge before six, and heard somewhere, so Mr. Douglas, come into the room. Man was waiting for him in here. He shot Mr. Douglas, left the gun behind him, and got away through the window. That's how I read his sergeant. Very, very, very, very likely. Ah, Dr. Wood, how was she? She's like this. Oh, she's bearing a primitive will in the circumstances, I'd say. Oh, hello, Sergeant, you found something? This far, sir. Under the dead man's shoulder. You haven't spotted it? Why no, I never noticed it at all. The footstep written on it. The three, four, one. Stabbing in him, looking at it.
Modern ask and that mean. Young me for the moment. By the way, Sergeant, this hammer on the rug here, and what me to examine it might just be a blood stain, you know. It looks quite keen though to me. It better put it back on the rug where you found it, please, Doctor. Oil custody of anything's got loom before it had been kept. It was dead, you're a boy. I'm sorry, Sergeant. I should have known better. I wasn't able to believe this during on the floor. Mr. Douglas was always doing the pictures yesterday. That's the hammer he was using, that's all. I see. Well, perhaps I'll speak a truth and look over the body. New marks of violence, see what they hid, Wood. You've been over. Ah, right. You are, Doctor. No. I've been to take a good look around this room, too. Yes, but I'd have thought. Ah, what is it, Sergeant? It is Master. Where? Here, with the heart of Master, what do you do? Joe, yes. What's the matter with these curtains, big old, last look? And the former clock start, when the lamps will lit.
And that means a bad argument here, doesn't it? A bad laugh, perhaps. I see. You've never seen a mark like this before. No, what have you done, Doctor? Here, before I let me see. Well, sort of tattooed. That's why I'm going inside a circle. Yes, sir. Many times I see that mark when the Master road just sees up to watch. He never told me what. Where? Strike me. M's. I do, big bad things, sir. Look, sir. The Master's waiting me. It's dark. Good Lord. You're sure about that, Mr. Haines? No doubt at all, Sergeant. Always worried. That ring with the rat neck is on it, was a puppet. Now, quite right, I am just a minute, no, just a minute. Did you, sir, the nugget ring was always war above the wedding ring? Always. Never changed. Of that means the murder of all where it was,
took that nugget ring off him to steal the wedding ring. And then put the nugget ring back on again. There's the nugget. The wedding ring's gone. Well, that makes us to know Mr. Waiver's truck. Meet the Red Bull Dragon Dairy Images. It's one of the many new drinks out now. Who knew ice cold drinks could be so? Fire. Try them all only at leopards. That's a real truth for the likes of me. And I agree for you, sir. And that's the way the fair is open for a few gentlemen. Red Mark. Mr. Mark. You know I can hardly recall any case in my experience where the features have been more matured. I rather thought you'd say that. Well, well, up with the times in Sattice, you can do. No, you can do. I arrived to take over from Sergeant Wilson between three and four this morning. I examined the gun. There is no complete maker's name on it. Just the first three letters on the fluting between the barrels.
The rest being cut off by the store, but three letters, three E.N. Can't think what that comes from. Pennsylvania Small Arms Company. The American first. I heard about Sir Lohl shot guns in the States. It might mean the chapel broke in and killed. I was an American. Sir. There is what I'll do. Yes. About America, sir. The system is worse, but a long time living there. In California. Now, that's interesting at home. Can you tell, Sergeant? Well, sir, just that Mr. Sir Fulbacher was an American too. He told me he was a friend of Mr. Douglas there. Oh, by the way, Mr. Holmes. Ains says he'd never seen a gun of this sort in the house before. The gun must be to conceal. It's pertinent to any box. But why would a murderer carry a shotgun in with him? If he had any sense, he'd choose to fly this weapon he could find. Something he can kill with and not make a sound. Be through the mountain. Woe clear of the place. I'll be for anyone find what happens. You're right there.
Ah! I think this is our destination. Ah, this is Boston Manor. That's it. About a place, eh? In the 17th century, most of it they tell me. Huh? That's our celebrated much. Yeah. The muddy loggy you need. The water brings down the clay. Don't worry about this color. You know, a chap can a drum in an incendi? Never started under there. That's the foot of the elephant. Not much likely other than not more than a foot deep near the edges. And true, we're the most in the middle. Hmm. Well, and here we are. Yeah. Sorry, we're listening, sir. You can take the carriage and get away home for some rest. Thank you, Mr. Mason, sir. Well, Mrs. Lohoney, we're all in both two scenes last night. All right, then. How can we get? All right. Are clothes that are, will you please aim? Yes, sir. In spectrum of download and Mr. Holmes would like to ask you a few questions. Ames, I understand you to have said that you often saw this mark on your late master's
forearm, three cronlycer. You never had anyone to refer to its meaning. Never, sir. I notice of a small piece of plaster at the angle of the deceased. And your here, you see, yes, I see it, sir. She cut himself shaving yesterday morning. Did you hear me? Mr. Talk would not be why he cut himself. It struck me he was a little restless and excited. Uh-huh. Mr. Holmes, anything to add? Thank you. Is this card with V341 scored on the start? I noticed within this room there is only black ink in the ink well, always. But this writing is published in colour. It's been done with a broad pen and the ones in here are fine. Obviously, that he wasn't written in here. That's a point. Can you make anything of the inscription, ma'am? No, sir. Nothing. It makes me think of one's as a soldier, or a bar. And I'm inclined to agree with you, Dr. Washington.
What about that, Mr. Holmes? An agent from this society gets into the house, wits for the gussets, chews and madeskates by way of the boat. But a leafless card, there, in so that's when the case is reported in the papers, the other members of the society will know the deeds be done, vengeance of something. Closable? But why this clumsy weapon? Well, and why the missing ring? And why no arrest? It's part two now. I think that since dorms, every customer within 40 miles radius has been out looking for signs of a wet stranger, where he certainly has missed a home, and this seems got a hideaway nearby, or a change of clothes taken hardly missing. And yet they have missed him up to now. Well, Ains, I think that is all. Thank you. Thank you, sir. Well, one moment, Ains. Yes, Mr. Holmes. What is this under the fire table? Those are Mr. Douglas's dumbbells, sir, for exercise.
dumbbell? I think you mean. There's only one. Well, there were two, sir. There must be somewhere about. I haven't noticed for some months. One dumbbell. Many better than Ains. That'll do. There in Tossar. Oh, Mr. Barker, sir. Nah, legs. Legroom in Dittelman. But by all means, Mr. Barker. I don't wish to interrupt you, but on all its own, your fellows have found a bicycle. Where? In a clump of evergreen, not a hundred yards from the hall door. Obviously, he is nice. And now that's a new line of writing. Come on, Meshneweep, better take a look at one. Yes. You coming with the hose? Of course. Now, what did the name of all that's wonderful? Makes the chap leave at the hand. And how in the world they got away? We don't seem to get a glimpse of light in this case. Do you miss the homes? Don't you miss the mail?
I wonder. I wonder. The venue's fear was one of the stories about shock homes by Sir Arthur Kernan Doyle. We are present here in three parts. You've just been listening to Part 1. In real life, my name is Norman Schelle. My friend Carlton Hobbs played Sherlock Holmes and I was Dr. Watson. Michael Hardwick read our script for this BBC production from London. We look forward to the pleasure of your company again very soon. For Part 2 of the Valley of Fear.
The adventures of Sherlock Holmes. I remember one thing in the story of the Valley of Fear. The Valley of Fear? Yes, he said more than once, I've been in the Valley of Fear. I'm not out of this exact. Of course, you asked him what he meant by that. Oh, I did. He would only show his head and tell me it was bad enough for one of us to have been in it shadow. He once said, please God, it's for never for a corner. He had for the beautiful Mrs. Douglas the shadow had fallen in the shape of murder. And it was still a mystery for my friend Hobbs. My name is Watson, Dr. Watson. And it was my privilege to share the adventures of Sherlock Holmes.
If I may summarize the case so far, I will then tell you what happened next in the Valley of Fear. I sat down exactly what Holmes said in my notebook. I hear what I can hardly recall any case where other features would be more peculiar. My friend, Sherlock Holmes, said to me, God, I'm baffling, I don't say. Holmes had received a warning from an informer that James R. said in the man called Douglas, at birth, in Sussex. Within a few moments, we had Inspector McDonald's gotten yard round to tell us that one dumb Douglas, at birth, and man had been murdered. And the sort of code message left on a card beside the body. VV341, as it said, just VV341.
When we got to Burst, then we learned that the dead man had been found with his face almost blown the bits and an American sawed off shotgun across his body. The murderer had taken the wedding ring from his speaker, but to do so, he'd had to remove another ring which Douglas had been wearing about it. And yet this other ring was still on the dead man's finger with me, so I... Well, there were other clues. The sort of brand mark on the dead man's arm. And Holmes seemed to be interested that one of a pair of dumbbells was missing from the room. County Wyver, and then Douglas's friend, Cecil Bacca, who found the body, came in to tell us that a bicycle had just been found hidden near the menor house. There was a murder that had made to get a well, it was... We had a little bit of it, but it was not even to help us. Call it enough make, not even to settle back. So we went back into the house and inspect our missing of the Sassist's Tabulary ring
for the Bacca aim of an officer. Oh, excuse me, Captain Man. Are you heard from that? Mr. Ames is relatively concerned about him for a minute. Can I do anything? Oh, this is Mrs. Allen. Meet the Red Bull Dragonberry Images. It's one of the many new drinks out now. Who knew ice cold drinks could be so... fire. Try them all only at McDonald's. Inspector McDonald, Dr. Limjard, Mr. Sherlock Holmes, and John Nelson, Mrs. Allen. There was a word with you later, but now if you've been... No, no, never mind for the moment. We'll speak to Mrs. Allen now she's here. But take a seat, ma'am. Yes, sir. Thanks, sir.
No, Mrs. Allen, take your time and tell us what happened here last night where you were, Captain. Yes, sir. Well, are you within my room when the bell rang? It rang very violently, so... That was the first time you heard. Yes, Mr. Holmes. I didn't hear the gun go off, is that what you mean? My room's right at the back of the house. I see. Did you notice the time in the bell rang? No, sir, not then. I came out to see what it was about. That Mr. A is coming from his pantry at the back of the house. Go on, then, Mrs. Allen. We came up to the front of the house together. Because of the foot of the stairs, the storm is his darkness coming down. In a hurry? No, just walking normally. Then Mr. Barker came rushing out of the study at this room. He rushed up to Mrs. Delvis and said, Go back to your room.
Poor Jack is dead. You can do nothing. Go back to your room. Did you think? No, sir. Did you scream or anything? Mr. Barker turned to me and told me to take her back to your room. And I did. Mrs. Allen, you're quite sure you have no sound of a gun going off. Nothing, but you might have thought of the time of something else. Nothing at all, sir. As I say, my wounds are long way back. And I'm a little hard of hearing. Quite a hamster. Have you seen something you've worn before? Look, a door slamming at the time. How long before? Half an hour before the bell rang. Oh, I see. Easily half an hour without a doubt. Any more questions, Mr. Holmes? No, thank you. Well, thank you. And I'm perhaps you'll ask Mr. Barker to settle this way. Oh, very good, sir. Hmm.
Sing you the ear. Well, thank you, Mr. Barker. The dozen times must have worked with all the archives from you, of course, but we have to... Our walls, I understand. Mr. Barker, I understand that Mr. Douglas integrated from Allen to America, and eventually reached California where you met him. You became partners in a successful mining venture, a place called the Nito Canyon. That is so. Mr. Douglas was a widow, I believe. He was. Now, when Mr. Douglas left America to come home, what is the Southern decision? Yes, it was. And the more I think about it, Mr. Holmes, the more I'm convinced that secrets of society ideas got something to tell us about all this, some full of fuel bags to grievance from the days of oil and many of them. Maybe, maybe, maybe, doctor. I understand that Mr. Douglas has managed to face in this country about five years ago. Have you returned here by then? I was his best man, I see. Did you know Mrs. Douglas took over the marriage?
No, I did not, but you've seen a good deal of a sense. I seen a good deal of him since. Mr. Barker, did Mr. Douglas entirely approve of your friendship with his wife? If you are not a man, I am not doing nothing. We only want to fight. Some inquiries are off-pants, they are not meant to be served. I must repeat my question, and I must refuse to answer. You can refuse to answer, but that might be taken as an answer to himself. No, did Mr. Douglas approve of your friendship with his wife? You can take it from me, gentlemen. No man ever had them all lying faithful wife. But I can say no friend of him all loyal and I was. Your wife said that the dead man's wedding ring has been taken from his finger. So it appears, under the circumstances, it wouldn't appear to most people that don't make this only between the marriage and the mother. I can't for thefts to say what it suggests. There is one more small point, Mr. Barker.
When you enter the room last night, there was only a candle lighted on the table, was it not? That is so. You'll rank and help at once. Yes, and you'll arrive very stegly, for the minute or so. And yet, according to Ames' statement to the police sergeant, would you write in the room the candle was out and the lamp had been lit? Why did you pause to do all that with such a starting strategy before you? I had... Well, the candle was very dark night. The lamp was on the table, so I met it and blew out the candle. Yes. The way that I see Mr. Douglas, yes, yes, of course. I'll fetch our foil. Have you filed an interview with Mr. Stewart? Nothing yet, ma'am. We are pressing ahead with our enquiries. In fact, every possible effort must be made. Oh, rest assured, ma'am. It would help us if you could answer a few questions, no? Please, I'm ready.
This job... Oh, thank you, of course. Mrs. Douglas, we've had from Mr. Barker that you didn't enter this room after the tragedy occurred. No, he turned me back on the stairs. He begged me to go back to my room. That's quite so. You had to have the shot and you had come down at once? Yes. How long would it be after hearing the shot that you were stopped on the stair by Mr. Barker? Oh, it may have been a couple of minutes. It's so hard to reckon the time exactly. It was all like some goodful dream. But can you give us any idea how long your husband had been? Don't stare before you have the shot. I can't say. I didn't hear him leave. He was dressing. He did the rounds of the house every night. He was so nervous. No, he was smart. No, he was a whore. Why a whore? Anything else? No, nothing.
What should there be? During the five years you were married to him. Did you ever hear him speak of anything that happened in America? Something that might still bring danger to him? Well, yes. I wasn't sure if there was something dangerous hanging over him. I was. It wasn't once that you wouldn't tell me anything. But you, I knew. How did you know, Mrs. Douglas? How did the woman know that something on her husband's mind? I knew it by the way. He wouldn't talk about the past of his life in America. I knew it by the way. He looked as I'm expected strangers. I knew it by words. He gets bold. My God, I asked what the words were. Mrs. Douglas? I remember one thing in particular. The valley of fear. The valley of fear? Yes. He served more than once. I've been in the valley of fear. I'm not as if it can't. Of course you asked him what he meant by that.
Oh, I did. You don't make sure you're here to tell me it was bad enough for one of us to have been in the shadow. You once said, please God, it will never fall upon you. Nothing more? No, nothing more. Mrs. Douglas, no doubt you have the purpose, strange business. Are you lately at husband's wedding ring? Oh, God, it's been taken to Miss Finger. Yes. Incidentally, I was extraordinary in question why you couldn't even get it off and so it was much too tight. It suggests nothing to you. No. Nothing at all. Well, Mrs. Douglas, we won't detail you any longer. No doubt you'll be some other points later, but we can refer to our golden years as they arise. Thank you, gentlemen. You have learned to stand on me. No, I'm not. Oh, thank you. I'd like to see Ames again, Mr. Mack, if you don't mind, or I'd miss her home.
I'll ring. Here's the stuff you have to do, lovely woman. Yes, and this fellow barker has been down here a good deal. These are mine who might be attractive to women. No, grand, isn't it? Yes, Ames. I'd like you to recall from the office of the park I had on his feet last night when you joined him in the air. After the crime, sir. That's right. Why, he had his bedroom slippers on, sir. I remember. I brought him his boots to go to the police. Where are the slippers now, you knew? Under the chair. In the homes to him. Saw them just a while ago. But, sir, it's important for us to know which mask nearly made by the tobacco speech and which are from someone else. Oh, why, sir. I may say, sir, but I noticed Mr. Barker slippers were stained with blood. So were mine when I looked at them later.
That natural mask, considering the condition of the room. Oh, by the way, where is Mr. Barker now? He's out in the garden, sir. Well, that just ain't bothering him. Perhaps you'd just bring the slippers in here before you go. Sir, and, sir. What's wrong with this about? You got an idea. We've mislead new. It's possible to un-cift it, but he wasn't. There you are, sir. Thank you, Aims. That will be all. We'll replace the slippers ourselves. They're very good, sir. Now, let's have a look at these slippers. Great. Meet the Red Bull Dragonberry Images. It's one of the many new drinks out now. Who knew ice cold drinks could be so? Fire. Try them all only as they're done. There is strange indeed.
And now, let's have a look at their windows. Five-dispy-bottles over a state. And... Oh, they didn't see the sacks there. They're looking, they're talking. No, they're not. Then their mark came from butter and slippers. What's the game, Mr. Holt? I'm trying, Mr. Holt. What's the game? And... Ah, I'm Dr. Wisconsin, sir. Ah, if my colleague stood for a little while, sir. I thought I'd take a turn around the garden. If it is the garden I'm hitting for. That's right, sir.
People only take to just down there. There they are. There, where that tree is. I see that a brick in the head's there. It's pretty good. Oh, it's pretty. Thank you. It's very good, huh? Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm. The post-cruise mood. That's not bad. Wait. Cut. Mm-hmm. I'm a doctor Watson. Mr. Barker. Mrs. Douglas, I have a doctor Watson. Mrs. Douglas and I were just sitting here talking with terrible business over there. But would you be so good as to come and have a word with a lady for a moment? Very well. If you wish. Doctor Watson, I have no doubts you might have a clouding, dressing up. Mm-hmm. I'm afraid you're thinking we'd tell us and how. There is no business of mine, ma'am.
You'll perhaps someday doctor you'll do me a more justice. Oh, it's only you realize. I do. There is no reason why Doctor Watson should realize. As he says, it is no business of his, exactly. And so I'll be going to you to resume my work. No. One moment, doctor. There's one question you can answer with more authority than anyone else in the world. And it may make a great difference to me. To tell you. I like it, settle. Doctor Watson, please, can you? Hello. You know Mr. Shadog Holmes better than anyone else, not supposing. Supposing a matter of wrong confidentiality is not it? Is it absolutely necessary for him to pass it on to the detectives? He would not conceal from them anything which would help bring a criminal to justice. Beyond that, ma'am, I'm not prepared to go. If you want fuller information, I'd refer you to Mr. Shadog Holmes himself.
Now, if you all be kind enough to excuse me, I'll be on my way. No, Watson. I want none of our confidence. No, I want you, wouldn't you? You act it quite correctly. No confidence is. And they can prove mighty awkward that they come as to an arrest for conspiracy and murder. Your thing is going to come to air, Holmes. My dear Watson, when I had exterminated this poor egg, I will be ready for put you in touch with the whole situation. Are you, you fell a little while ago? I don't say we fell a little bit, exactly. Ah, from it. But when we had placed that missing dumbbell, you see dumbbell. One dumbbell was. Consider an athlete with one dumbbell. That picture to be yourself the unilateral development, the imminent danger of a spinal cordage up to using one dumbbell.
Shocked. Fall in for a nice quiet pipe. Hello. Watch it all about them, man. A lie, Watson. What? Barker's whole story is a great thing, something of cruciate and compromising a lie. But it's corroborated by Mrs. Douglas. Therefore, a birth story. And in a construcet array, according to the story we've been given, the murderer had less than a minute after he'd committed the crime to take that tight-fitting ring from Douglas' finger. And that meant taking the toppling off first and putting it back again. He had to do all that and get peanut of it before Barker came in. I said it was impossible. But it's all all those and then. Impossible.
Now about the candle. With all the other things he had to do, with the murderer also blow out the candle and light the lamp of all living. No, hardly indeed. Barker is lying when he says he lit the lamp after he found the body. It was little ready. Wiser than Herms-Or. Yom. Except Ames. He was in the ventre, I'll say, Zer. We lack stuck that for the moment. Ames says he had no sound. We lack stuck that also. The pantry is a long way back under a several doors between it and his room. But the housekeeper's room isn't so far. I've been down to see it and there's no reason for not hearing the two bells of a shotgun fired here in the study from there. Yes, she's rather deaf when she's your daughter. Even so, she also told us she remembers getting a sound like a door slamming half an hour before the alarm was given. That would be a quarter to eleven. There's no doubt in my mind that it was the actual shot she had and that was the time it was fired.
It was quarter to eleven. I didn't crack fire. I was like, Barker and Mrs. Doug was admit they heard the shot. I did this half an hour before Barker gave the alarm. What were they doing all the time assuming they aren't the actual murderers? Exactly. What were they doing? Now, I'm hangin' and I can give them the minute of the doubt. What innocent woman would sit there laughing like I saw her and her a few hours after her husband had been murdered? No. It was badly staged marriage, but if I had been nothing else this would have been enough to suggest conspiracy to my mind. When you say, Holmes, Barker and Mrs. Doug is are indefinitely the murderer. If you put it up Mrs. Douglass and Barker know the truth about the murder and I can start into conceal it. Then I'm in full agreement. But just for the mental exercise, it's suppose that there was a gift his secret, a really shameful secret of some kind in this man Douglass' life.
No leads to his murder by someone from outside an avenger perhaps. Or service of an injured murder. Before he gets away Barker and Mrs. Douglass reads the room. The murderer convinces him that any attempt to arrest him will lead to the publication of some hideous scandal. They let him go. They may even have law the door which one was kept by him and raised it again. Yes. Well now after the murderous got, they realized that they placed themselves in a position where it may be difficult to prove that they were not the murderers. So they go to work quickly and throw the clums a little cover up. They marked the windowsill where Barker's blood stays shlip out to indicate how the murderer is supposed to have escaped. Then Mrs. Douglass creeps back to her room. Barker stays downstairs and raises the alarm half an hour after the gun was actually fired. Now Watson, how will that suit you? Very good, Holmes. Very good indeed.
The only thing to do after building up such an elaborate supposition of course is to prove it. On him's name when you will laugh. Well, I think an evening alone in the study will help me evening alone. Now while I've already arranged it for the estimable aim, I shall set him the study and see if it's at the stear brings me inspiration. Oh, my God. You laugh and Watson. Well, we shall see. Oh, by the way, you have that big umbrella of yours, but you had your loot? Yes, I have. I borrow it, if I may. I will mainly to collect it this evening before I shut myself away, will you? Certainly, sir. And meanwhile, you've got enough to do but wait for our colleagues to come back from tongue-blued wells where they've been trying to get that bicycle identified. I have a faith there shooting in the dark. I don't find the meeting we were taking a shot in the dark Mr. Holmes, but we've hit out target all the same.
No, I identified the bicycle inspector. We have Dr. Watson and got a description of our man, Grace. And congratulations. Well, we started from the fact that Mr. Douglas had been in tongue-blued well the day before the murder. He's seen the nervous the morning after he'd been there. I've seen possible that while they'd become conscious of some danger, very some reasoning indeed. Well, we took the bicycle over with us and did the rounds of the hotels. It was identified at once, yes, by the manager of the Eagle commercial. Said it belonged to a man named Hargre, who'd taken a room there two days before. The landlord had no doubt that chat was on the American. Well, well, you've done some really solid work. While I've just been sitting there spinning theories with my friend, I hope that just it was Mr. Holmes. Practical measures are what get the results. There's a remaining room with your theories, sir. Who's that maybe? Meet the Red Bull Dragonberry Emergizer.
It's one of the many new drinks out now. Who knew ice cold drinks could be so? Fire. Try them all only at Le Dau's. But let's hear the end. How about his descriptions, the next? Oh, I've got it here, such as it is. Now, usually, nobody seems to have taken much notice of them. About five foot nine in height, aged about 50 here, slightly grizzled, grayish, mustache, called Noon, or a lover for beatings on the face of the record. He'd been seen to wear a heavy gray suit with a refob jacket, in a short, overcoat, yellowish, and a soft cap. What about the shock gun? I know one saw that. It could have fitted in his valley short, under it overcoat quite evenly. Poor Mr. Mac, how do you think this bear is on the general piece? Well, I reckon he may have cycled over here that morning, maybe hung about keeping an eye on the house. Hoping Mr. Dau doesn't come out. You've seen Mr. Holmes, I reckon he'd intended using that shotgun.
Outside the house, not indoors. Oh, no one would say twice about a sporting gun going off in these parts. Very good indeed, Mr. Mac. Hey, what's this? Twin radar. Of your scoundering rigged? Well, Mr. Douglas didn't appear. What was hard to do next? He left his bicycle and approached the house at twilight. The drawbridge was down and nobody about. He took a charge and slipped across and into the first room he came to. No one saw him. All right, so far? Captain Dau, take him home. He got in behind the curtains and waited there till quarter past 11 when Mr. Douglas came in. He shot him and got clear. If the bicycle might be identified so he left it, it means straight off the london of some other place. Where he'd got a safe hiding place. Very good and clear. So far as it goes, eh? Who can I mean? Very questions just a different ending, Amos.
Oh, good times, is it? Worldlake. You did, eh? I remember our bargain, Mr. Mac. No theories until I have a text. The support of a buttonhole. Yes, Mr. Mac. I intend to go ahead with a little investigation of my own tonight. It's just possible that we can contribute something to our common cause. Want us to help? Anything to get us on the bit. No, no, no, thank you. My one-sister simple. Darkness. And Dr. Watson Zambrella. What's that? I don't know what you're talking about Mr. Holmes. Do you, Dr. Watson? I haven't completed this idea. No? Well, there's not much to it, really. Just a few lines of thought leading back to one basic question. And what's that then? Why should a mere psychic man develop his frame with so unnatural and instrumental such single dumbbells? Oh, who's real? Well, they have such a find out tonight. Excellent. Excellent.
The value of care was one of the stories that Sherlock Holmes, by Sir Aprican Doyle, representing it in three parts, you just heard part two. In real life, my name is Norman Schellin. And it was my friend Carlson Holmes, who played Sherlock Holmes. I was Dr. Watson. And Michael Hardwick wrote the script for this BBC production from London. I hope you may have the pleasure of your company again very soon, for that third and last part of the value of care. The adventures of Sherlock Holmes. Unpressed. No, I need to.
She might be so bad if you'd tell us what we've been doing here for the past two hours, Mr. Holmations, gentlemen, gentlemen, there's so much it is, that gentleman is what we've been waiting for. What's happening in life, are you? Yes. If someone started to walk about in that room, that's what you mean, Holmes. That's it. That will make us perish, for the matter of a star. Let's see what happens. Sometimes it was cold, whose words buzzing. Sharing adventures of Sherlock Holmes. What's in my name? Dr. Watson. And there'll be first some of them so far, and then I will tell you the astonishing solution to the value of care. What is, what is,
what is, what is, careful as I was, over the murder at birth to Manna in Sussex. A curbside, VV341, the side corpse, he's wearing taken, but there really been wearing a fabric definitely replaced by the murderer. There was something that he fishy going on between the wood ear and the deceased's best friend, Cecil Mocker. What soon Holmes said to me, they are lying. They're in a frisperous state of lie. It's all so much like me too. But Holmes wouldn't be going to spin in any more theaters, he got some more facts in his hands. He just kept on dropping hints about a blessed dumbbell that was missing from the murdered man's study. Well, no, it's what he was getting at. His latest idea, I was to spin the needle in the learnin' the study and think things out. Why do you need my umbrella, the open my gun, think? On the way to the local police station
next morning, he wouldn't say where to buy it. But I knew he'd found something out. I'd seen that look in his eyes before. Good morning to you, Mr. Holmes. Good morning, Mr. Holmes. Good morning, Mr. Holmes. Sir, you're a doctor, what's going on? You said it last, at least? What is the latest news of the rupture? Oh, what a pile of corresponds. Just look at it. Let us tell you, do you know what they are? I think I can guess. Reports of this murder are about being seen in half the towns of this country. Sir, please. Now, Mr. Mac and you, Mr. White Mason, I wish to give you a very early piece of advice. advice. What advice? Abandon the case. Now look here Mr. Holmes, your home takes something. Now now Mr. Mac, you know my methods. Once I've notified my details, I'll make my bar and return to London. My findings are the entire atrocities and the credit of the yours. I owe you too much for it to be any
other way. In all my experience I came from call of cases interested me more. Sorry I was shocked. But it's all cleaned beyond me. We talked to you when we got back from Tundraage Wells last night and your ideas seemed to match up pretty well with ours. That's right. What happens is going to give you a complete room of your idea. Well, since you've pressed me. Yes. Oh, by the way I've been reading a short but very interesting account of the men. Oh, I got it for one minute on the look of the back of this. Here it is. You know Mr. Mac, it had no end to the zest of an investigation when one is unconscious sympathy with the historical aspect of one's surrender. Oh, no. Oh, freedom looks so impatient. Even so bold and account of this can raise quite a big picture of the past in one's mind. It could be an example. Average minutes. Ah, tell me. Directed in the 50th year of the reign of James I, the man who has a burst and is one of the finest surviving examples of the lucid jack of the enris. Oh,
you're playing games with us, Mr. Holmes. Well, I've not read it verbatim since you feel so strong in your work. Thank you. Well, I simply tell you that there's some a class in here that came here the place by Parliament, Recurlan 1644, of the concealment of Charles for some days in the civil war and finally of a visit there by George II. Yes, me. You'll admit that I can't give interesting associations with the old place, but there are no business of ours. Oh, I'm not. You get your points soon or later, but you've had to sit around the corner way of doing it. Very well. I'll go past history and get another present day back. Goat. I left Watson with our hotel last night and visited the manor house. I didn't see our Mrs. Douglas O'Barter. I saw no necessity to disturb. My visit was made especially for the goodness of Ames who allowed me without reference to anyone else to settle down for a time in the study. What were you doing? Well, not to make a mystery of such simple a method. I was looking for the missing dumbbell. Oh, not that I get it.
It was always bumped rather large in my estimate of the case. I ended by finding it. Well, it's breaked in me. We're going to take you in your own terms. We know that, but when it comes to telling us to abandon the truth, at least don't trouble to trace the mysterious gentleman who's bicycle got left behind. He won't help you. And what do you suggest then? I suggest you take a nice cheery, country walk. What? They can have a June over the wheels. That's quite remarkable. Don't ask you to get now should some suitable pastorate. Though my ignorance of this path of the world would hence be to recommend you here. Then in the evening, Tarl, the headman, they're just getting past that joke. If you think based on the line, there's nothing better to do than sit here and listen to you. Going on over here, Mr. Mac, I'm sorry about that. Thank you. Well, I'll spend the days you like, but meet me here. Meet the Red Bull Dragonberry Emergizer. It's one of the many new drinks out now.
Who knew ice cold drinks could be so? Fire. Try them all only at leak-dumbs. For dusk without fear. Oh, now that sound more to the point Mr. Holmes. Oh, so with the rest of it. Well, I think it's just you take it. So long as you're here when I need you. A great, Mr. Mac. No, very well, Mr. Holmes. Now, before we part, I'd like you to do something for me. Well, I'll take a note to Mr. Bach. I want you to write it. Write your... ...begin... ...beer sir. And it has struck me... ...that it is our beauty... ...to drain the moat. In the hope that's impossible, Mr. Holmes. It hardly drains. Never mind that. Please go on, Inspector. I'm with you up to drain the moat. Drain the moat in the hope... ...that we may find something...
...something which may dull upon our investigation. Investigation. All right? Aye. The Wotman will divert the stream. Look, Mr. Holmes, it just can't be done. Drain the stream early to mother. Early to mother. So I thought it best to explain that... ...as before him. Before... ...and... ...there. That's all. Right, then. How get this... ...send us right away. No, wait a little, please. Send it by hand about four o'clock this afternoon. Not before. No, so it's me. Don't forget the assignment. And I think four o'clock would be an admirable contrast... ...all to meet share at the police station again. Oh, that says all beyond me. Share that, Mr. Mac. Take my advice. The day in this bracing winter air... ...do you mow with the worry over that pile of reports? But please yourself. Come along, Watson. Came for a brisk walk. Like nothing matters. Stay near. Then we'll see you here at four o'clock, is it?
... ... ... It's a chilly evening. And I don't know how long our expeditions get alasd. You better wear your warmest things for me. And what expedition may this be, Mr. Holmes? I'll ask you all to go with me now to the outer bounds of the man of her heart. That's a gap in the railings where we can get through to the shrubbery... ...neither opposite the main door of the drawbridge. That's where I'm afraid we must spend a good deal of this exceptionally chilly evening. Already? Yes. Oh, I see. Oh, so... Very well then. Then I'll stay on our way. Oh, I'm petting. There I am. Me too. Yes. Might be so bad if you'd tell us what we've been doing here for the past two hours. Mr. Holmes, the whole nation's gentlemen. The nation's... ...the nation's... ...the most of us it is, we...
...that gentleman is what we've been waiting for. Hmm? Oh, who more of what's happening like of you? Yes. ...and someone started to walk about in that lazy room there. That what you mean, Mr. Holmes? ...etc. That room is the study for the murder of his dad. Now, let's see what happens next. Mr. Holmes, we just come to the window. He's opening it. What are you doing now? He's been looking out in the white room. No, he's looking down. Down into the moon. He's leaning out. Down, down, down, down. Please. Mr. Holmes, please. This is your car, little one. Hurry! Where did you find the devil? Unext난! Where'd you find the devil inside? Look what you hit that little mouse...
...that had none of the, only the mouse on it! The guff. Hey, look! It could catch you on the Genau. But... An object behind you? This is the way. Come on, man. Come on, miss. Who leaves me, Mr. Barker? Holmes. What the hell is going on? It's funny. The bird did like this. But we can't find something in the heart. Here it is. You mean why in this bundle you just fished up from the bottom of the boat? We can't find it. With this dumbbell. What? Don't you? Yeah, a missing dumbbell turns up at last. I remember you know about this. Gold for the boy, I put it there. You. Well, I should say I replaced it there. You remember, gentlemen, I was rather shocked by the actions of the hammer,
with that dumbbell dumbbells. I did draw your attention to it. There were so many other things on your mind. You had harder than time to consider it. But how did you make war plays near and await this missing misdemeanor? It's not too far, it's to wonder if something is being sent to the water. The idea was what testing hadinerated. So what the help of aims were busy with this room. And the proper drop of Boston's umbrella. I was able to fish up this bundle last night and inspect it. Where were I? Wrong place. Of course, it was most important to be able to prove who had sunk it down in the first place. The accomplices by the very simple device of anancy, the remote would be drained tomorrow. So that whoever he was would have to act on the cover of darkness tonight to get it out before it was part. Very clever indeed. It's a thing you didn't know we couldn't have blamed the murder if we tried and just about that. Or wasn't the bundle remembered? I'll show you. Fuck. The dumbbell. We shall need that more. Now, sure, we have a pair of boots.
Note the toe caps. Just hit the American. Then this knife in its sheath. Not till looking objected. It's certainly yours. And finally, this plowing, a complete set. In fact, socks, underclothes, great wreaths, suit, common case, and up. Bar, the piss overcooks. This yellow overcooks. Now, this is full of suggested parts. Hello. What's that in the lining? Well, nothing in the lining is to make it just a special pilot. Long enough to accommodate that sort of filing piece where I already familiar with. And that is. And though here at the neck, if the tailors tab, me, outsider, the mister USA. The mister. The mister valley, I'm not mistaken. Now, what was it all that visiting for, besides the body? DB341. DB. The mister valley? I wonder. Hello, but I'm forgetting you, Mr. Watter.
I mustn't stand on the way of your explanation. That's so. Well, all I have to say is that if that is in your secret here, it is my secret. If that's the way you want to take it, it will be my duty. I'm going to have my damn right, please. Don't stand on the way of Cecil, please. This is a good idea. I hate it. No, no, please. Please, please, please, please, please. No, Cecil, you're dying up. Forever's going to come a bit. You've done enough. Enough and more than enough. This is Douglas. I think the members has come to me to ask you to take the police and your company. Oh, Mr. Ho. Perhaps I am at fault myself and not taking up the hint you passed through my friend, Dr. Watson, or you might have come forward then. The fact is I had every reason to believe you, but direct you concerned in the cry. Now, I'm sure this is not, sir. Just a moment, Mr. Ho. You may own this, Mr. Douglas. There remains a good deal that is unexplained in this case. I was strongly recommend that we should share it in his own words from Mr. Douglas.
Mr. Smith, the whole world is right, everybody. Oh, yes, I hate this, this way. I know it is. Mr. Douglas, sir. I am John Douglas. But what? How long now? If you've been looking towards the fact, where you should go, see yourself in the face of a man. I am Mr. Matthew. Would not read that excellent local compilation, which told the story of Charles, the second-scale healers. Would you? People didn't hide in those days for that for a reliable hiding place. I had persuaded myself we should find Mr. Douglas, and that is very rude. So you let a waste of time start to put someone on the one instant, who has wasted my dear Mr. Smith? I did not form my views of this case completely till last night. They could not be put to the proof until the evening. So I invited you and your colleagues to take a day off. What more can I do? Then do we understand that this man has been hiding just off this room for the first two days? That's correct. And that is the time I wanted to sing out some sexual rights.
Very considerate, Inspector. I understand what you must be feeling about me. Let me tell you my story. Very well, sir. But there's just one thing I'd like to know first from Mr. Holmes. Well, Mr. Smith, you knew Mr. Douglas was alive all the time, but how long do all the time by any means? Not until I found the suit of clothes in the boat. They were obviously those of the missing cyclists from Tumbridgeville. So, just fairly obvious to me at once, that the body of all today, Mr. Douglas, was really that of the missing man. I see. What kept you being disowned in debt was well Mr. Douglas could be. The balance of probability was that with the connivance of his wife and his best friend, he was concealed in this house, waiting for quieter times, when he could make his escape. Quite right, Mr. Holmes. Well, all right for the moment, then. Mr. Douglas, I hope to caution you, sir, that anything you say is right, sir. I think you were nothing but the troops. Well, beginning to beginning. There are some men who could call to chase me, or that's the way they see it.
It goes back to my days in America, before tied up with mining rights and my breaking the code of the brotherhood. Secret society? Meet the Red Bull Dragonberry Images. It's one of the many new drinks out now. Who knew ice cold drinks could be so soft? Fire. Try them all. Only a little less. All right. To the ancient world, we'll have three men, Lord three, four, one, the Mr. Valley, Mr. Holmes, guest right there. Well, then mind what we're all about. Labor, rackets, political intrigue, that sort of thing. Kind of dirty work we earn here, seeing its smithers for in this country. Over there, the stakes are so high, they'll kill to make things go their way. And there are some phonetics who hunt them and the world end to shut his mouth. But I give it to you in detail in writing. My sister will need that later, right? Well, it's gone.
When I left the States, I changed my name, my name, and brought my wife to live in this out of the way spot. After a while, everything seemed so peaceful. I thought they'd given me up. Then the day before all this happened here, I was over at Tundbitt Wells. I got a glimpse of a man in the street. I recognized him at once. A man called Hargrave. He was the worst of a lot. I'd known out why he happened to be in these parts. So what did you do? Simple came back here and stayed indoors all next day. There was still a chance he wouldn't be able to track me down to the house itself. No, he didn't. Yes, Dr. Watson. Nothing happened all that day, and once the drawbridge was up from the doors and windows locked in evening, I felt much more secure. But when I made my rounds of the house before going to bed, I always went around myself. I smelled danger, the moment I came into this study.
What did you know, Distensor? Nothing at first. And then I spotted the turnover boot sticking out under the curse of death. I just had one candle that was in my hand, but there was a good light coming through the doorway from the hall. I put the candle down and jumped straight to the hammer, I left lying after I'd hung some pictures. At the same moment, he's playing out with me with a knife. With colour of the little glass. Hargrave. This kind of man's making my peace. Come on, let's see your shine. Come on, let's see your light. Now! Oh God! Hey, Jack, what the blitz is up? Listen, Fredosh, straight in his face, where were we fighting? He managed to pull that gun out of his pocket,
particularly the polarity that was which was through this... ...whether it's a gas case site. Oh, what? What the hell? From America, huh? I knew that it had ketchup with me to grow later. Yeah? What? I think you're right, you know, don't tell me what the hell's this, Delphire? Oh, what is it, Jack? Listen, I want to do what I say. The man's been shocked. He's a terrible site. He's broken in, Jack. I promise I can't tell you about it as soon as I can. But I... You are, I'm quite alright. Now, go back upstairs. Please. And what works with so much, I'd be happy to see you. Well, yeah, well. But... The cows soon. I will. Jack, what do you make of this? Well, yeah, I just saved it enough. A brand-new ball for same jewels. A triangle on a set where it's not surprising, we all headed for it. Just read it. Listen. I can't hear anything.
It's just it. No one else is staring. No one but I didn't hire the shot. Well, no one knows what's happened here, but the chaos. Jack, we've got to work quickly. Your fans say what you're talking about. Don't you see the fellow space is unrecognizable. He's about to hide and do. He's got the same brand mark on his arm. Off you go upstairs. Get some of your night clothes and addressing them. But don't argue high. And don't get anyone to see you. It's always close. Wait until I'm done with this. Don't get. And drop it down into the mud. Where's that car? It has a disk box. The TV is C411.
It's C411. Get a put it down to the body. It's meant to run the idea for it to get an engine in the newspaper reports. So they have proof that a man did his job. Right. Yes. Ah. What about the rings? Rings? You're a ring. You're waiting even though one more than I do. I'm not believe it's you without those. Aim the shorter notice. I suppose I have to put them on you. And there's the nuggets. Right. Oh, I'm afraid this waiting ring will never come off. Hasn't been awesome since the day it was put on us. So. Two. Ah. Mother, what else did you work just the other one? Ah, nothing else. That's not a look at you. Ah. What is it? That pasta run your chin. It catches us chagin' this morning. Yes. And let me have it. Right. Oh. Right. Ah. Put it on him. I'll put it on him. Right. Yeah. How long has it taken?
Yeah, how long? Like. Now, Janet. You go into the secret room behind the fireplace. Then I'll give myself five years until I was all about before I was here long. Has no one else heard this short? It won't matter. There's only day here. It's time to be said to I. I'll have to thank you properly later. When all this is cleared up. I'm still pretty today. I think nothing of it. In a few days you'll be able to get away somewhere safe. I'll bring my baby to join you. You change your name again. Again, you think Harby did his job and disappeared off. Your wife's gone. Oh. I disappeared off. Well, that's how it was inspector. Oh, she. But perhaps you'll be here the rest from Mr. Bocca. Yes, please. Well, I just made a mark on the windowsill. And I had found it that first screw. I rang the bell like mad. And Mrs. Douglas came down again as arranged.
That's all, remember. Every word you heard is the truth. Yes, it's the truth. This matter will have to go forward officially. You understand, sir? It will get into the tables. Whoever they are, they'll know who's to know the liquor. I'll be tricked. I understand that inspector. We'll make our preparations leave the country. And the minute it's all over, we can get away. Oh, she's the best here forever, my darling. Hello, Holmes. They're no sale by now. And they were by our salesmen, Mr. Bocca and I were swatown. I wonder what's in there. I wonder. Oh, surely, Holmes, after all, there's the court and... To all intents in terms of his when he walked out of that assize called a free man near the earth opened and swallowed him up. Who had yet who were dealing with Watson? Professor Moriachi. It's my guess he was under responsible for tracking Douglas Dab. You've been the English Moriachi to help them and now you're asking to do the whole job?
You did very agreeing that they don't. You'll have read by now how his work has been wasted. Ah, Mrs. Hudson. There's a note for you, Mr. Holmes. I'm 100 percent of the street doof. Thank you, Mrs. Hudson. Thank you, sir. No, I'm cross over here. Hmm, looking at the jail pane on expensive paper, it'll be cultivated but disguised and... Oh, who's the problem? What is it? There's no signature. It doesn't need one. It simply says, dear me, Mr. Holmes. Dear me. Moriachi? Exactly. Can't you make any move against him? Of what, girls? Of what proof? Then must he always have the opening gambit while you follow a move behind?
That's it, Watson. But I shall beat him in the end. The bad luck there. There have been devils like Moriachi, who looks in the world since so long before our time. And there always will be. And someone's always got the better luck sooner or later. Who has been a shell of him's learning? And Dr. Watson. Complete, of course, with the vital umbrella. I'll come along with my dear Watson. They passed me my shredded areas. And you like the truck? Well, now you've heard Patrye, who now we're ending of the daddy of the year. If you've one of the stories of shell of Holmes, let me inspire him to serve off a human oil. My name, my real name, is Norma Lucelia.
My old friend, Carlton Hobbs, played shell of Holmes, and I was stuck towards. Michael Hardwick, great as scripted this BBC production from London. And of course, I look forward to the pleasure of your company again soon, for more of the adventures of shell of Holmes.
