Good afternoon.
I've seen it all, but very much of it is made me think that football was down the pan. But this is the first thing that's happened. It's made me feel that football is in danger. And it's this dreadful influx of high powered money from here and everywhere. To add to it is the inability of the Premier League to handle it properly. Because they haven't got clean hands either. Because some of the things they have done to our club, I've long argued, Steve, we should be pushing them to court for competition breaches. And yet we've let them, we've let it all go free. I think if this goes on much longer, I think there will be a backlash from Premier Clubs
entirely to have something new completely as a Premier League. And it wouldn't surprise me if we were involved in that. I wish it was finished, Stephen. I don't think for one minute it is. It's going to wriggle and wriggle and wriggle. As you've already said, they say they have evidence which clears them which hasn't been taken north of south. Well, they're going to present that and present that until the time runs out. And it'll go on for a while. The sad thing is, what about the football? You know, we love them ahead. We've had 10 years, at least, of a very, very fascinating city team. And challenging them has been up there is one of the important things that all clubs include. Now as we'd like to do.
I just find that all that now is lost in the mayer of financial school doggery, which is just so disappointment. The beautiful game is no longer the beautiful game in my view. It's become dirty money game. Yeah, I mean, Pat Godiola coming out today and supporting the club, of course, telling Manchester City fans that he is there for them. That he's there for them in this time of need. Basically saying he wants every single Manchester City fan across the world to know that he is here more than ever. I am always and always have been and always will be behind my club, my owner, my chairman, Ferran Serrano, the players, the staff, Endo, Maresca and you are unique supporters.
I mean, George, that in itself as well, I mean, we set it on here a couple of times, a couple of times that, you know, Pat must have been aware about this. I mean, we, you know, we, as time went on, there was a change in his demeanor and as the decision got closer, it came as no surprise to me that he stepped away. Yes, not at all. And you're right, his towards the end, his demeanor changed markedly. There wasn't the space, the space out of him, even on the touch lane at times that had been in the past. So, yeah, it's a heck of a statement, but that's all it is, I'm afraid, because he can do nothing. He's not involved in voiceless support, cost of nothing. I would expect him to voice his support because he's made a good living out of Manchester City. He's built a huge reputation out of Manchester City.
So, yeah, it's a great statement, but that's all it is that can't be anything else. No, certainly can't. Next question, Councilman Allen, he says, what do you think the atmosphere will be like at Anfield when the Premier League resumes and do you think it'll affect the morale of the City players going forward? Liverpool, of course, taking on Manchester City George. Well, that's up to the Manchester City coach and staff and manager. If the professionals, it shouldn't affect them one job because it's not going to, whatever has happened off the pitch isn't going to stop their wages being paid. It isn't going to lose their jobs overnight or even in the near future. So, I think if it does affect them, then they're job in their place as sailable assets as far as I'm concerned, if they can't cope with this on a professional basis.
There's no reason why they shouldn't go out against Liverpool and be as hate-bearers they would normally against Liverpool. And indeed, even a little more able just to add grist to the mill, you know, just sure that we're still there fighting for Manchester City. I would hope that that's what make the players would do. But with modern footballers now you can't tell who's going to react to. I mean, it just, some names bigger belief, but I think City set up this enough to keep them in order. Why is this going on? Everybody you want to talk about this today, as you can imagine, Alan says, I think the Premier League will press for immediate expulsion and appoints deduction when City Deb Bach, this might be the best outcome. I mean, is the reputishment that fits this claim? What do you think they will do, George? What do you think they deserve?
Two questions there to add to, Alan. Well, there certainly will. If they decide that's it, you know, we've come to the end and we're going to do the punishment, it's got to be severe. Because if you look at what David and God for there, Mr. Beener, what Nottingham Forest got for there, Mr. Beener and so on. And but that's the differently, isn't it? That's the Premier League having to show their teeth when in the past they haven't, like with Everton when they were saying, well, we're going to reduce your fame because you were nice, et cetera. I mean, no idea, George, about having the right biscuits on the coffee table. And that's what it felt like. So I'm same with other clubs that have had things thrown at them. The other thing is that some names, less a club, seem to get well and truly clouted.
And if you go down to the football league, the championship, not what the shirt really is, I mean, 35 million pound fine. It just beg us belief. So yes, they will decide if they've come to the end, there will be a punishment. What that punishment will be. It's got to be severe. Now in terms of Premier League, severe, that's got to be relegation, surely, at least relegation in one division. Those that are calling for relegation to the bottom of the Perubian, which I think is very interesting. The Scots did it to range as a few years ago and were praised for it, but I'm not sure it's going to happen against Manchester City. The other thing about it is, is that I can't believe the Manchester City aren't rallying
their friends in the Premier League because I'm sure they have some and trying to offset some this and some way. So yeah, right, there will be a punishment. It has to be so, yeah, because what's being done. And goodness knows what will happen, but I would imagine most people would expect relegation as the first start in what's going to happen. So it's going to be a very interesting period of time. I think, to be honest, a points deduction is probably what we'll see. I think we'll see a big points deduction, which will place them firmly in the bottom of the table. How severe that is will depend on whether it's considered possible for them to escape relegation, but I think that's what we'll end up with. I think we'll end up with the bottom of the table in some way, shape, a form, and then go from there. Will they take off?
The trophies will be, will they record in that period of 10 years being removed from the... Hey, Ryan Reynolds here from InMobile. Will it take away the league cook titles? Will the teams that were in that position be given those titles? Will Sunderland, for example, could win the league cup? They were beaten 3-1 by Man City in the final. Would they... What happens? What does happen with it? Tuchamess and the other thing, of course, George, is the financial scenario that we've
got to deal with here because there are some clubs that have been affected because of this. Leicester City, prime example. You know, and there are others who will know that they'll be looking for some kind of recompense from Manchester City for what they've done. Well, and others as well as I was seeing in the preamble before, if you just look at an evident and unfurls them in one or two others. There were screaming at us as we were the crybabies, but as soon as it happened to them, they wanted something else to happen. Unless there is a prime example. Look where they are now. And a lot of the others to do with what happened to Manchester City. So yes, they've every right to be expected some recompense. As to the deep points deduction, I agree it'll be a points deduction, but I may have been visaged, I'm visaged, it'll be a points deduction that it'll be difficult for them to get out of.
But on the other hand, if it's not, and they fight their way out of it, well, so be it, that's up to them. You know, the thing about trophies, trophies aren't warning boardrooms. They're one on a field, 11 against 11. And if we start, you know, giving trophies to the second place people and a third place people and these people and that people and leave the trophy thing alone, it's history now. That's, that's move on because I don't think. I'll be honest, if I was a player in those teams, I wouldn't want to meddle around me neck that I'd got second hand virtually. It just wouldn't be right. So I hope they don't mess about with that and just get on with the real business of sort now, the financial side. And if there is something to do for people like Leicester City because they really have been hurt very badly and others, then they'll never let them get on with it.
But, firstly, guards the trophies, I'd be happy to see them leave things as they are, move on and just let history deal with that. Rumors that Evan and Nastin Villas books on outright, there's also been reported yesterday as Darren, lots of people rightly point out, of course, that we can't just be relegating Man City to the bottom tier of football either because ultimately, you know, the football league have us here, the Premier League don't have jurisdiction over the football league. So it would then be down to the 72 members club of the football league to decide if they were willing to accept Man City and Italy. But yeah, I don't think it'll come to that. I've got to be perfectly honest. The team is at the beat. The team is at the beat in the first game or it's hard to unbiased the team in the finals. Leave the trophies, says Rob, they get an asterisk, they're next to them in the history books, which is probably what will happen as well. Yes, lots of great comments coming in folks. Yeah, what's the other one? Rob says the best thing about this city issue is the people are waking up with a corruption
and the red cartel, hopefully it will lead to changes. And George Dave says, ask George if he has, if he kind of hopes they go easy on City, which gives our owners the green light to spend. Well, I'd rather go the other way. I don't care what they do to City in one way. The other way is I want to say, you'll fight back. They're a cousin city of fraud and all sorts of things. Well, if we look at what's happened to our club, you know, the road, the set of rules to stop our club from spending money and denied that that's what there were four. But the next day, like everybody else was, we're calling them the Newcastle rules. Well, even with my limited legal knowledge, that must be damaging the competition as far as our club's concerns. So what I have, I have a hands to City, if it affects us, that's great in a positive sense. But I'm hoping it might, it might actually wake up the other clubs that have suffered badly.
Look at Villa and and and and others, have it. They like particularly. You know, the winner European trophy in Endopathy, the cellmost of the best players, that by any stretch of the imagination, that cannot be right. That cannot be sporting, never mind right. So I hope it wakes up other clubs. And if this room is about Villa's books and somebody else's books already floating around, well, is it not time for the whole of the Premier League, all the clubs to get the go and see, right? Let's stop, let's pause. Let's start again and see where we get from. You know, it's not exactly the same. Now, being around long enough to know when in the middle, well, after the war, late 40s and early 50s, there were three or four clubs that dominated everything.
Arsenal, yes, in India, with Tottenham, Chelsea, Sunderland for goodness sake. Sunderland were called the Bank of England Club. And they had far, they managed to raise far more, much more money than than any other club in the country. And were buying all the star players. So, you know, it's not new. The differences, the differences, the amounts. That's the thing. And in those days, people could manage to get money from somewhere and do things to try and catch up these people. Like, we did, say more, spend every penny could to get way in the cup. Because that's where the money was. The money wasn't in the league, the money was in the cup. And that's why I say more took us to three cup finals, you know, it was the money it was after. So, it's always been around, excuse me. But the differences, the amounts are huge.
And just, unimaginable, the most people, unimaginable, the most clubs. And it seems to me that the times ripe for the Premier League clubs to get around the table and say, hey, let's start again. Let's write a new set of rules. Rules that suit everybody. Not just the six at the top. You know, this notion of how they've written rules that benefit those people that are bringing in revenue. And yet, our billions of pounds in debt. That can't be spoken. There can't be an equity in that. Sooner or later, somebody's got to look at the debt and say, well, I don't. How about you can only spend as much as you can, as the debt you pay off next year, rather than how much you bring in? That would set a few haze running. But it's a mess and a mess that needs to clear out.
And I'd to go back to the question. I would love something that slips off the end of this for City to help us. But I would like to say, yourself and myself too. The rumors are that City knew the guilty verdict in July. Do you think this explains the business at a Manchester City did in the transfer of marketing the summer, George? Spending over £450 million. Yes, it probably did. They probably had a big influence because they they would want to make sure they maintain their team challenging at the top all the time. So there's a yeah, there's a link there that is difficult to deny that they didn't see it coming. So they decided to go whole hog, you know, we're doing. So that's spend what we've got and go for it.
And they certainly did. Over £400 million, I think it was, you said, Steve, yeah. It was, I don't think that's an accident. I don't think that's coincidental. And I think that's by design. I think you've got made a good point there. My author says with new rules that will bring more investment, charge premiership clubs 5% of the fee to go forwards in the EFL. Also, Richard Masters needs to go. It says Darren, there is no punishment rules, etc. If any club breaks the rules, Liverpool don't get punished for tap and no players, etc. I mean, Richard Masters, he's hung around, hasn't he, for years now. He was the man who became almost like the enemy of the Nicasoli United fans. You know, the man who was standing in the way of the take over. So yeah, I mean, doing Masters, Masters will exit stage left. It depends how this pans out.
And if it looks like, sit, you're going to fight back and bring more stuff to the interview. It may be Masters might have to go because one of the things I would like to see if we want to try and fight back is to have a look at some of the emails between Masters and the big six. And see some of the real gap room dealings that's gone on. Which I'm about to scrape the handle that teams as well. So I think Masters has been there for a long time and a shadowy figure. Very rarely have I ever seen an interview where I thought he gave upfront answers. And some interviewers got get my go because they give them an easy ride. They ask them questions. The answer to which he knows very well and trots them out very,
very adroitly when it when it when he needs to. But no, I would I would I would hope that some stage he he will be a casualty of this. He will he will go. Okay. Ask George on his opinions about Anthony Gordon's comments about him being underappreciated. Did he not just underperform, says Dave? Well, I brought my heart last night watching England. Watching him in the hall tear the defense of our opponents apart down that right side of the defense. And I'm not sure that that he was he was actually getting at Newcastle and aided. If he was it was certainly wasn't the fans. He knew the fans appreciate it. We need to go back to the January when he decided he was gone. Don't forget he he decided in the
January when we didn't do anything any business in that window to go to Eddie Howard. So well you told me we're going forward. We're not going backwards. We haven't signed anybody. So it's goodbye for me in the summer. He was up front with that. There was no no no any problem about that. Sometimes it looked like he wasn't trying. There's no question about that. Other times he was left sitting on the bench when he when he could have been earning his corn and much much more wisely than that. So his underappreciation was the aim and that the the club, the owners, the management I don't know. But I didn't get a sense that it was about about the fans. I think well he's he said it. He loved his tame at Newcastle. I don't think there's any doubt about that. So I you know I give him I cut him a bit of slack and after I see them last night. I thought good good. That could be that could be our left wing. But
never mind. So I think you know you take it as you read it but I didn't think he was having the go at the fans. I think he was he was having it having a general go at how the how the club performed after that January window. Okay halfway through the short time for the ad. Big thanks to all our sponsors. Okay, welcome back to Ask George. Plenty of questions coming in. We've got an email from John Ask You as well. And again, wanting to talk about the Man City story. It's a so city I'm not sure George can answer this, but it might be a decent debate anyway. It's acknowledged by some legal experts and indeed by George himself that the APL's financial regulations are illegal. Regardless of the guys they're dressed up in. So there's a problem. How can you be guilty of breaking a set of rules which are themselves? Lawbreakers could city have a case in the high court. And if it's established in court that the rules are indeed illegal, will that mean a win for city George? Well, it should if they are illegal. I mean, there's a couple of the rules that we've
fallen foul of have been found by independent tribunals to be unlawful. So that they fall, that they don't count anymore, but we did make use of them. I don't know why we didn't just go out and spend what we wanted on those rules. We just took it and sat back, but city won't be sitting back if they can get a loophole such as that. And so much of what the APL has done. As the Gallupy stamped all over it, whether it'd be to do with players, whether it'd be to do with sponsorship, whether it'd be to do with additional parties involved in clubs and all this sort of thing and who's paying wages and who's not paying wages. And it's all is so in the maya that I'll be amazed if some clever case cases couldn't find a way to dig a bit deeper
on behalf of city and have another go. It wouldn't surprise me. Now, that would please me because it means we would be able to do similar things ourselves because we sit back and what should happen. There must be a reason for that, our owners have done that. And I suspect it's just to do for wind addresses so that the Premier League can't say, well, look, we're told you not to let them in their bad boys from the Middle East. Don't let them in. If that's so then so be it. But I think there are some of the things that the APL and Richard Masters particularly have produced. I mean, a couple of things that they were found illegal, they took them away and tried to amend them over a weekend almost, only to be told by the same tribunal. No, that's not good enough. Well, you know, if they're fiddling like that, what else have they been fiddling? And I don't think
we're finished with this. It's got a, it's got a, it's got a weird arun I think. And the longer it goes, the tougher it gets for the APL and Richard Masters, I think. Okay, another question following in the same theme from Johnny says, in close at a home, that might mean that they'll need to come up with a new set of regulations to level out the playing field. And if so, how could that affect Newcastle United, George? Well, at least it would have to be a playing field we were involved in plowing. Nothing that we're running with at the moment. We had any say in. Indeed, the important ones that affect us were decided by the other 14, 15 clubs. We were left on the outside. We weren't allowed to attend the meeting. You know, our representative, Amanda, stayed at the event of the meetings and was told that she had to leave while I was discussing this. So, you know, if it means a new set of rules
and as long as we're involved in the production of those rules, as I hope wasn't, the Ella would be, and Evettin would be, and Forest would be, there would be rules that we could all sign up to. And they don't have to be draconian, don't have to be draconian at all, but they would have to be safe guards so that the very powerful can't just swamp the league as they see fit as they've done for the last 10 plus years. I'd like to say in any new rules as well, someone looking at how much clubs owe. It is just obscene. The Tottenham could spend all that money in the Christmas window in the summer window, and then suddenly announced that they're nearly 2 billion in debt. Now, that's not a football debt. That's the most the stadium debt because they're not just a football club, they're an entertainment club, they do American football, they do
music shows, they do all sorts of things, but that's still their debt and it goes on. So, if there is a new set of rules, at least we want to be in on it and help to write those rules, that would be my, the least I would expect. Okay, and another question from John, how might the UEFA rules play into the above scenario? Well, it's interesting that the UEFA have been very quiet, is my observation about whether this has been grown on, and it may well be that they might have their own sanctions which might cause quite a few rory because they've been terribly, terribly quiet. Hardly any comment at all about the Manchester City thing, and yet on other things, like recently with Chelsea, they found a phone for Chelsea and the phone for somebody else.
I think they found a phone for us somewhere, but in terms of this big thing, they've been very, very quiet indeed. So, I'd be amazed if before this is over, you would if I don't make some sort of statement because it must affect their rules as well. Well, it does affect their rules, you know what it does. So, I'd be in rest to see what they've got to say, and I'd be amazed if they don't have something to say. I've seen a few people worried in online that this could stir up problems for Newcastle, and a lot of people using the phrase, stay at owned, I've seen it, come up with a couple of times in the chat, and just to remind you, Newcastle united on stayed owned. Newcastle united that owned by a public investment fund. That is what the whole battle was about, right at the very start of the take over, you know, that they're saying that the country couldn't own the club, so it stayed in public investment fund. And it was proven that we
were instead owned that finally brought the cameras back, that masters at end and core, let the take over come through. Otherwise, they would have faced legal action about that, because don't forget that's West Keith's, Paulusons challenge was gone, if they'd kept going, they would have ended up in court on that alone. So they were glad to get rid of that, and we proved conclusively that we were in stayed owned. So let me get, Steven says 114 points deduction, if they finish this year on 90 points, they lose 90 points and relegated, and when they come back, they start on minus 24 points, plus a five year embargo on transfers, they have to sell to buy, that's Steven's suggestion for punishment. Okay, let's move on from the man's, at the case, some good questions coming in. Arthur says George, did you rate Alan Gaulan as a player?
Alan Gaulan was an underrated player. We call him from Manchester, just in a bit when he was, I think they thought he was doing actually, and he came, and very, very quickly formed a good partnership with one or two players in the front lane, and ended up scorned lots of very good goals. So I enjoyed Alan Gaulan as a player. A bit gangly, a bit long leged and gangly, but still quite good on the ball, and good shot in either foot. So yes, I like Alan Gaulan. Okay, good question from Rob Maltman here. He says George and Steve, Paul Dunlain was asking people to name a Nicarse-United Mount Rushmore, which four legends would you carve into a mountain? Some people have already come up with my main would be Peter Beardsley, Kevin Kagan, Alan Shira and Paul Gascon. That would be my four. And as I see, quite similar for Moza,
Jackie Milburn, Alan Shira, Peter Beardsley and Kevin Kagan. Rob's who asked the question, Kagan Shira Harvey and Milburn. Rob Maltman also says Colin Bettson, Huey Gallagher, get honorable mentions. Somebody else put one in his world that they are not. No, but there you go. That's the Mount Rushmore. Any any any advance on the names given, George? No, I would find room for Jackie Milburn, obviously. But one or two people added to their Moza's combination was quite nice. I like that. But certainly would have Jackie Milburn up there. Okay, Gordon was upfront, yes, but his performance as you in the last six months was Nicarse-United with the exception of the Champions League were poor best. Gary says, George, if you saw it, what are your views on the best? Give us a chairman's comment on Joe Willock in that they're going to wear a tagum in January, George. Well, they've been trying to take him since the summer since early summer. And it hasn't happened.
I think the question needs to be asked is Joe Willock really want to go? Because they've been trying to take him for a very, very long time. I think it was a if it had been him and Alanga, I think it would have been a done deal by now because Limon Alanga are great myths as are their wives, which may be important. But yes, I mean to have a club chairman talk about what only a player state like that is, is quite flattering. But at the end of the day, it's it's up the Joe Willock if he goes, he goes. And I think whatever we get for him, we say thank you very much and spend it very quickly. He's been a good servant and he's rewarded rice by coming back the way he has because he's performed very well and scored a couple of very important goals. So yes, I do suggest that he made disappear and as much.
Okay, Steven says Milburn Harvey, McDonald and Keegan are his, among Rushmore. Did you read Mickey Burns when he was at the castle, does Arthur? Oh yes, Arthur. Yeah, Mickey Burns was a little, a little, a little, but stoppy, a way we heard, character, never stopped. Go, go, go all the time. It was, it liked me to score from any angle or it's good on the right wing, but he could easily go up the middle as well, but he's, some of his right wing performances were outstanding. Drimler, good shot, hard tackler, full of energy, full of energy. Yes, I like Mickey Burns. Steven says I love Tommy Cassidy as well. How do great I for a past, what did you think of him? Gany, the nail on the head, Tommy Cassidy was, was good, was energetic, never give up, hard work,
good without a foot. He got the reputation to be one foot, he was, he's never such, so he could score just as easily with Warrens, he could be the other. And yes, I like Tommy Cassidy, he was a good foil for the, the more, how can I say, the more prominent attackers in the team like Super Mac and others that got the name where Tommy was the support role, but what a great support role he was. Yeah, certainly was. What did George think of Lewis Hall's performance last night? Outstanding. Man of the match for me, I mean that may be going too far, but man of the match for me, he, he, go long. No, I'm not throwing a football with my favorite son Charles. I'm talking to my new Duke Cannon Puck of soap. It's triple mill to last longer than retain its shape down to the last nub. In fantasy football terms, you could say this long lasting soap takes no buy weeks,

He was heming Gordon together, we're unstoppable almost, and here Tushia talk about the match was heartwarming, but slightly upsetting in the fact that they could both be playing for us. And even in defense, it was while he was doing offensive things, there were a couple of times he did manage to get back and stop them, because after half time, when they were down to 10, they're coached, I actually decided to go for a broke, to not just sit back and just absorb it, but actually have a goal, and they did bring out a couple of times, and those couple of times it was Lewis Hall that broke the challenge down. So I'd, I'd, man of the match for me, I may have be wrong, but I thought he was outstanding at every sense. His ball player, his tackling, his
interaction with Gordon, and others, when they came on on the left side, was just outstanding. Some of these crosses, some of these crosses, it's a sin that they didn't end up in the back of the net. I mean, I got a wonder what we do. If I was sent a forward and another forwards, can't put those in the back of the net, we really do need to think about what we're doing up front. Alan says back in 1919, Leeds City were kicked out of the football league, and forcibly disbanded for illegal player payments. The punishment was especially severe, because City refused to cooperate in wrestling, Alan, thank you for sharing that. Roger says, Go on, I was just going to say, the other two clubs so came close to it were having a Chappell Wednesday over the Beton scandal, but they saved themselves because the clubs cooperated instantly with the, with the investigation. They didn't, they didn't defend the players,
I didn't even try to defend the players. Whereas in the Leeds City thing that they obviously did, okay George, next question, what's your memory of Coventry City? Memory of Coventry City, well, Coventry City, my memory is usually a team that plays good football, but the big memories have got to be how their manager, Nurek, their a man called Jimmy Hill, turned football on its head by being a club chairman and matching the date, an ounce and all that sort of thing. He turned, he turned football on its head and Coventry City was at the front of it all for a while, but they've always had, in my opinion, the company City teams, I've seen teams that have wanted to play football, and that's that's no bad thing. They aren't enough with those nowadays, and yeah, I'd try and think how long it is. I mean, going back to when
we were both in the second division, Coventry City were, we even then played in good football, and then of course they got, they got open and in recent years of course they got involved with my Ashley, which give them a bit of a job down, but again still the football was good play. Yeah, I mean, look, we haven't got a huge history with Coventry, obviously I remember the Cup Final, Keith Owchens, Wundering Hall at Wembley, the Sorden Win the FIA Cup, but yeah, we haven't had many kind of run-ins with them to be fair, let's just hope the memories will have this season of six points in the in the bag. Coventry having all chocolate second strip says Arthur. The one extra memory I've got is that we took John Trude, Trude from Coventry, and that was a good buy. Well, good shout, Alan Harrison says Coventry City Memory from the 70s,
the Ernie Hunt Wilcoff Free Kick, which was late that outlawed, I'll have to look at that on Yes, on YouTube. Yes. Yes. Rodgers, when fully fit again, where would Jolenten fit into your 11? Well, Roger, at the moment he would struggle for all the other subfits, although I like how it was midfield with the Jolenten minute, and it would have to be as a midfield anger rather than anything else. I want to say him in the role that he enjoys and put himself about just to bolster, take some of the pressure off the young lads in the middle like store and in Miley, and of course to help our new friend, Niggos, in midfield as well. So it would have to be as a midfield break if you like or stumber.
The role it seems to like to play to take a bit of the pressure off the back fall. Okay, George, was there any manager outside of Newcastle who you admired? Oh, goodness, yes, I mean, depends so far you would back you want me to go. Bill Niggos and its burs have good at arstile. You can't go past managers without saying buzz beat man just united. And coming further north there was one or two of course in the north east, hard wicket, Middlesbrough, when he became their manager, he was the Englandler back and there, led back, but he was an excellent manager as well. And there were others, but they're names to conger with. In modern times, well, you or northern the emcee better than I do,
what you all are and so on. Can I go back to the older ones I've mentioned? The one thing that sticks to me made about all of them, the word gentleman, the word just, the word just football managers in their real life, the word gentleman as well. Niggos and Hardwood, after the match they came out in their suit and the tie, very smart, spoke to whoever they could and spoke in a very, very reassuring way as did some of the others I'd mentioned. So hard wicket, it was the same real gentleman. So yes, there were other managers, but we didn't do so badly ourselves, we didn't do so badly ourselves. Rob Moteman says talking a great manager, we were always excited about having Kenny Douglas, then we got him. Yeah, I got on my elbow,
Kenny Rob, I wouldn't have a bad word set against the guy, to be honest, he got a second place in the league and he got us to a cup final. He came in a difficult time I think, it's the onestancer. And me too, I wouldn't be too hard on Kenny, it was a difficult time to come and difficult time to make really big changes. Yeah, following from Keegan was always going to be difficult for anybody, let's base it. Last question, again is back on the man's set, you think, from John, not easy, but as this podcast is repeatedly pointed out over the years, the whole business of FFP, PSR, SCR, or whatever has proved to be a little more than bias shambles to favour a select set of football clubs at the expense of others. Can the current case involvement set the act as a catalyst for positive change, or is that just wishful thing in George? Well, it could be wishful thing, but I'm along with you with that. That's the least I want to come out of this. Whatever punishment sit he get, I hope the rest of the league get together and
say, hey, this can't happen again. It only happened because there was behind the door dealings between certain clubs and the Premier League and others. And that can't happen again, that can't happen again. So I, you're right, that wishful thing and that something better does come out of it and that's certainly what I would hope for is the least that we would get out of it. It's a brand new Premier League, brand new set of rules, brand new, a brand new look at how we were in our football. That this business about takeovers, you know, that it needs to be looked at why takeovers from America and other places go through on the node, but takeovers from elsewhere, like the Middle East and so on, seem to take forever. That can't be right. That can't, that cannot be right. It's got to be nibbling the board, got to be stopped. And yeah, that's the minimum I would
like to say, John, is a, is a whole new Premier League come out of this, a minus Richard Masters. Well, originally it was built as a whole new ball game. Will we see one? Well, we'll be finding out very soon once this comes to an end. This show is coming to an end. I'll be back to Mara, six o'clock. We'll talk with Tune with Pablo and Rob and then on Friday we're back with the amigos at 5.30. Look forward to that then. Thank you for tuning in. Good to be back live, George. Thank you very much. Thank you. Go Long! No, I'm not throwing a football with my favorite son Charles. I'm talking to my new Duke Cannon puck of soap.
