News talk breakfast with Anton Savage in association with air. In the UN, General Assembly is continuing with world leaders gathered in New York City. President Donald Trump gave one of the opening addresses yesterday. It was 35 minutes of just fascination for the rest of the world, dead silence in the room, and at one stage the guy who thinks he should win the Nobel Peace Prize, talked about annihilating an entire country if they didn't do what he wanted. Tisha Krihol Martin, we saw both as peacemaker and this week we also saw the war monger in Trump during the speech. A new stock political correspondent Sean DeFoe is in New York. He sent this report. And now the nations of the world brought to you by Yaku Warner. United States Canada, Mexico, Panama, Haiti, Jamaica, Peru, Republic Dominic and Cuba,
Caribbean, Guilandas, Abba, or two. Among them, Cambodia, and Thailand, Kosovo, and Serbia. The Democratic Republic of the Congo. Donald Trump's addresses to the UN are always slightly surreal and yesterday was no different. He started by playing to a domestic audience ahead of the midterm elections. Two years ago our country was dead. And now we have the hottest country anywhere in the world. Before moving his attention to defending his war in Iran. But I have a big decision to make. Will the deal be made with Iran that lets them rebuild and create a far greater country than it ever was before? Maybe one of the greatest in the Middle East or even the world? Or do I annihilate the Islamic Republic and do it quickly, never giving them a chance to kill and destroy people and countries again?
Do I drive them into hell with no chance of survival and no hope of future great disorganizations? But I believe we'll make a deal right after the election. Both with fuel prices surging in America and elsewhere, few believe the President when he says a solution is imminent after those midterms. Some attention has been given to the fact that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is due to imminently arrive in New York. He's addressing the General Assembly tomorrow. And whether or not he could be arrested on foot of an international criminal court arrest warrant that won't be happening under a Trump government. The United States is equally opposed to the out of control institution known as the International Criminal Court. They're an evil group of people. I call on all nations that are members of the ICC to officially resign from this rogue institution immediately. It is equally unacceptable that with all the genuine atrocities in the world, the UN's
top human rights officials spend their time criticizing the United States for protecting our children from transgender mutilization and transgender insanity. That's what area at least where Trump and the T-shirt don't see eye to eye. I don't agree with that. I think I don't agree with the comments that were said. And I think the ICC, we've been supportive of the ICC. I don't believe it's anti-American. That's the perception of the US. Donald Trump also kept up his habit of trying to rename everything he sees this time with AI. Here and after officially called super intelligence, changing the name and that the use of the word artificial makes intelligence fake. It makes it sound fake and it is not fake. It's actually amazing. And on that front at least, Mihal Martin agreed with his speech. Actually, it was kind of reflective as that went through. I mean, they are interchangeable in some respects. And there is a super intelligence aspect to it.
The US President is also under pressure from the White House press pool who have pulled his TV coverage and left him away from easy access to the nightly news for the first time in decades. The T-shirt didn't want to weigh in either way on that before being asked if it's something he'd consider doing to the Irish press. Well, look, I think there's an ongoing sort of engagement between media and President Trump. There's some matter here for the US. I'm not going to broaden myself in that particular issue at this particular point of time. What would you do with that? How could I do it to you? Though the note of temptation was very much there in his voice, today the meetings continue Trump is back in Washington to meet with the Chinese President Xi who is snobbing the UN by coming to the US but not to New York, Mihal Martin, who meet with the New York governor Kathy Horsill and will announce 90 grand in funding for a James Joyce Museum in the University of Buffalo. They also meet the New York Mayor Zoran Maldani, perhaps to exchange war stories of holding their collective noses as they try to navigate politics in the orbit of Donald Trump.
