Welcome back to Challenges and Faith Radio program. I'm Gary McCamp. Thank you for joining here on Save Light episode 3419. Not the children. Nabilia CEO Jensen Hun says that sacrificing our children's minds to AI is a price he's willing to pay. Joe Wilkins over at Futurism he wrote an article titled Does It Matter? He said with so much hype about the future of AI safety it can be easily to overlook the harms AI is doing and to hear it now. On the consumer side the impact AI has on a developing mind has become increasingly clear. Students are losing critical thinking skills as chatbots become causative thinking skills as crutches, spreading human friends and favor AI companions and
even turning to sell harm when their AI relationships go awry. Few tech executives have acknowledged these. Urgent harms instead of choosing to push a narrative around the hypothetical breadth of a runaway superintelligence which humans can no longer control. That's why it's notable that Jensen Hun CEO of the AI chip making tight time. Tightened the video was recently grilled on the harm AI is inflicting on students. Unfortunately it's responsible as far from reassuring providing further proof of the AI industry's blatant disregard for the well-being of ordinary people. Huns and celliniians came in an interview conducted on the Ezra Client Show. Early into the conversation Client brought up a Chinese study on AI in schooling which examined 26,000 students who began using AI and staggered intervals. Client explained that by delaying AI
adoption for some research was able to directly compare the impacts of AI on student performance. Those students were able to complete work faster with AI, the study found compelling evidence that the skills needed to complete schoolwork melted away. Resulting in more exam scores in long term in response, hungry, the student is getting much worse. Excuse me as I slow down. Try to get a kid to do long division right now. The multiplication tape was starting to be forgotten. Doing square roots, my goodness, Huns said, basic math is being forgotten, does it matter? That's my question for you, Client reply. Yeah, I don't think it does. I don't think it does. Huns said in response, we're going to discover new skills to see you continue, just maybe not those. The interview then took a bizarre turn. We're on the meeting that he lacked some surprisingly
basic life skills themselves. There are a lot of skills that don't matter, he said, my first confection. I actually don't know my address. One day I had to pump gas. It was a few years ago. They needed my zip code and I panicked. I didn't know my zip code. I don't know my telephone number. I forget these things. I can live with it. Huns point after some pushback and climb is that we're going to lose some finer intellectual dexterity. We're going to be better system thinkers because they would take care of those mundane details like remembering your home address for you. Say what? If you were ever curious to know what kind of future our tech billionaire overlords have in mind for future generations like you and you and you. Now you know a future where it's fine and nobody knows your phone number because your AI system, oh AI system, would know it for you.
Say what? According to Mindstream News, they run away at half Australia's government portal. There's been a plenty of headlines about AI agents going rogue, same story, different day except with this one because it was the first to infiltrate a government system entirely on its own. Last week, Australian Prime Minister announced that an open AI model reached the country's universal healthcare system. The Medicare Statistics Reporting Service Portal contained both public and non-public files, all of which are unfortunately considered non-sensitive data. What? To make things worse, open AI is set on incident for months before telling anybody that's because the discovery was buried in the routine review process for misaligned model activity. But wait, it gets messier. Open AI revealed that its models have also access US sites including the Census
and SEC. On top of that, three more Australian government agencies may have been affected. Dr. Hammond Pierce, a senior lecturer at UN SW Institute for Cybersecurity Warns. But these kinds of attacks will keep occurring and will grow in severity and infrequency. Did you hear? Think of the timeline. In June, open AI's Asian access, files and Australia's Medicare Statistics Reporting Service. August, the lab discovered a breach while conducting an internal review September the 10th and open AI rep alerted services Australia via via email through a general government inbox. The notice was escalated to the Cybersecurity Center five days later. Now you pan attention. CEOs put on notice. Australia's Senate is demanding answers summoning both Sam Altman and Dereo Amadi to testify on October 1st.
Now you already know when October 1st is. Let's see now is it now? Chair, Sarah Hansen Young made her position clear, AI companies need to earn their social license. That starts with transparency and accountability. Australia joined a coalition of 22 nations insisting AI stay under human control. So the same week world leaders demanded oversight. Rogue agent proved exactly why that declaration was overdue. I still wonder what COVID-19 due due. Over、 Queue.
