Okay, Acts 4, verse 15. My subject is on your lesson. On your lesson. At this point in the text, Peter and John have had the upper-room experience. They've gone to the temple. They ran into a man by the gate called Beautiful Elaine Man who they have healed. Peter has preached thousands have been saved. And the Sanhedrin Council at the time are concerned that they're going to have another Jesus issue, one of these issues where you've got a revolutionary upsetting the standard in the status quo of how things have gone. And yet they're in a predicament because they understand coming fresh off the heels of crucifying Jesus that they can't just go and chase any and everybody.

When we enter into the text, they have called them into the council to try and threaten them. And then they ask them to leave so that they could have a minute to confer amongst themselves. In verse 15, it says, but when they had commanded them to go aside out of the council, they confered among themselves saying, what shall we do with these men? For indeed, that un notable miracle has been done through them is evident to all who dwell in Jerusalem and we cannot deny it. Verse 17 says, but so that it spreads no further among the people, let us severely threaten them that from now on they speak to no man in this name. So they called them and commanded them not to speak at all nor teach in the name of Jesus. But Peter and John answered and said to them, whether it is right in the sight of God

to listen to you more than to God, you judge. For we cannot but speak the things which we have seen and heard. So when they had further threatened them, they let them go, finding no way of punishing them because of the people since they all glorified God for what had been done. For the man was over 40 years old on whom this miracle of healing had been performed. Holy Spirit, I need you. God, we acknowledge your presence, your sovereignty. Jesus, we invite you to take your place on your throne. We have gathered here, yes, to be with other believers, but we have gathered here, sacrificed to be here, taking time to connect with you because we live by your word.

And so God, I pray that you would speak a word in this room as only you can do, that you would allow your presence to be so full in me that it overflows into what comes out of my mouth. God, I offer you my studies, I offer you my meditation that I may serve these your great people. God, let it be you and you alone. And I thank you God that you've already seen this moment in heaven, so we surrender, we sacrifice, we lay down our vision to pick up your own. No nerves, no fears, give me pace and patience in Jesus' name. Amen. Amen. I often wonder, though I see in Scripture, especially in John over and over again, where John goes out of his way to say that he was the disciple whom Jesus loved. And I often wonder to myself whether or not John was true in his perception, not that

he wasn't someone who Jesus loved, but to go out of his way to say he was the one whom Jesus loved, suggested me that he felt a little bit of favoritism in his relationship with Jesus. And while I certainly believe that that is the birthright of any of us who are believers, we should feel like we are the favorite one. You know, on the outside looking in, I do wonder, though, if he and Peter had a unique bond that has not fully been explored. Because when I look at the dynamic between Peter and Jesus, I see over and over again how he allowed him insight and access, that he didn't necessarily give to the other disciples. When I look in the Scripture and I think to myself, what is the most powerful interaction between Jesus and Peter? There are so many different moments that come to mind. He healed his mother-in-law. He went out of his way to make sure that his mother-in-law was healed.

He also allowed him the opportunity to exercise whether or not he could walk on water. He often talk about how Peter failed at walking on water as if we have jet skis on our feet. But the fact that Peter even had the audacity to ask whether or not he could do it. And Jesus said, if you have the audacity to ask, I'll create the opportunity for you to do it. To me, there's something powerful about their relationship that he knew that he could ask something of Jesus and that Jesus would fulfill it. Now maybe he didn't keep the faith and maybe he could have worked harder. But he had a certain audacity that I don't think we can underestimate what is the most powerful interaction. Perhaps it's at the Mount of Tabar when he has the Mount of Transfiguration moment. And suddenly this Jesus that they have been following is now dazzling, white, and shining. And it is undeniable that Jesus is not just a good man. He's not just the anointed one, though they thought that he was.

But this is something that you've never seen before. This is a glory that the world has yet to behold. And he allowed Peter to be a part of that moment. Was that the most powerful interaction? Maybe. Maybe it was the moment where Jesus asked Peter, who do you say that I am? And when Peter responds, he receives a new name because at the end of the day, Jesus tells him that this revelation is what I'm going to build my church on. And flesh and blood did not reveal this to you. Peter and Jesus had a thing. I like Peter. And not just because they say he had a cousin spirit on him because I am delivered. And not just because he cut the ear off because I too am delivered. One of my favorite moments, I think perhaps the most powerful moment between Jesus and Peter is in John 13, though there are other moments in this synoptic gospel that also covers

it. This moment in John 13 sticks out in my mind because it is the end of the last supper. And Jesus has made clear his journey toward the cross. They have had the first communion. And I imagine when I try to depict what it was like to be in that room, that there was a real seriousness, a real sobriety between Jesus and the disciples at this moment. And I think the most powerful interaction that we see between Jesus and Peter takes place when Peter asked in John 13 whether or not he could follow Jesus where he was headed. I didn't give them this scripture, but I want to read it to you for the sake of you fully understanding. It's in John 13 verse 37. And it says, Peter said to him, Lord, why can I not follow you now?

I will lay down my life for your sake. And Jesus answered him and he says, will you lay down your life for my sake? First of all, y'all better. Okay. Most assuredly, I say to you that the rooster shall not crow till you have denied me three times. To me, this is the most powerful interaction between Jesus and Peter. Not the moment where he had the opportunity to walk on water, not the moment where he was at the mount of transfiguration, not the moment where he healed his mother and long, not the moment where he gave the revelation. This to me is the most powerful interaction because this is the moment in which Jesus tells Peter something about himself that he did not know he was capable of. This is the moment where Jesus gives Peter insight about Peter that Peter himself doesn't

even know exist. We love these moments where Jesus sees us as greater than we see ourselves. Our future, our destiny and our gifts and talents are more powerful than we can even imagine. We feel like we have been asleep on ourselves. But very rarely do we dig into those moments where Jesus tells us something about ourselves that doesn't quite measure up to who we see ourselves as. Like I'm loyal. Like I have integrity, like you can count on me. This is the most powerful interaction because Peter thinks highly of himself as a disciple. He sees himself as one who can easily follow Jesus no matter where he goes. I don't care how dark the road is going to be. I can be with you. And yet Jesus says that you cannot live up to your own intention. Yeah.

Because who we intend to be and the impact of who we actually are sometimes have distance. You're in tension and your impact. First thought is like, wow, how are we going to do all this? This is Oda copy from Joy 101. That's Alan Goya, a planning engineer at AT&T. He's talking about into it. Don't. Home of the Los Angeles Clippers where every seat, screen, phone and transaction is connected with AT&T fiber and 5G redefining the fans experience. And Alan's master plan made it all possible. He was could arrive on anything that was already built. And that takes quite a bit of people and different teams to all be on the same page. That includes field services manager Drexel Jones. His team made sure it all came together and held up on game day. Through what Alan's whole crew design, we connected the event visitors to the world. And after years of hardworking collaboration, it was opening night.

To actually see the whole stadium light up and date is flowing, it's a beautiful thing. What the fans experience. It's incredible. He gave me a lot of pride. AT&T connecting fans to what they love. We are responsible just as much for our intention as we are for our impact. So it doesn't fully matter what you mean. If what you mean, it can come out in the way that you delivered it. Which is difficult for us to comprehend because yes, you cannot control the way that a person experiences you. And yes, they need to do their own work. But that does not give us license to just do and say whatever we want to say.

Well, I didn't mean it that way. If they took it that way, that's on them. No, no, no, you are responsible for making sure that the way that I impacted you, the way that I said it, that I can stand by it in my intentions and in the presence of God. I am responsible for making sure that my intention and my impact align. Which is why relationships become so challenging for us. Not just our relationship with Jesus, but also our relationships with others. Because there's a certain level of humility required for us to make sure that our intentions are constantly aligning with our impact as much as possible. When we're parenting, I like that. When we're loving on one another, I have a responsibility to make sure that this all aligns

because I recognize that in this season of my life, in the influence that God has given me and everyone, if you know one person, you have influence, that that influence could be the very thing that makes sure or breaks who God is calling them to be. I am responsible for my impact because I never want to say or do anything that robs you from becoming who God has called you to be. I recognize that when you recognize that you have been the villain and somebody's story it changes. Everyone has been the victim and we can shout out to you about who did you wrong? But if we were really honest, there are some of us who have been the villain in other people's story and not because I meant to, but because I was so blind to the way that my words come out. I was so blind to my own brokenness that I hurt you in the process. When you become aware that I can sometimes act in a way that even I don't agree with and makes you listen differently when someone everyone is saying the same thing that you don't know how to talk to people.

Maybe it's nothing wrong with their ears. Maybe it's something wrong with your mouth. And you mean well, but you're not always doing well. I think that Paul unpacks this in great lengths in Roman 7. He says, for I do not do the good I want to do. But I do the evil I do not want to do. Wait a minute. I don't do what I want to do. My intention is not showing up in my action. I do the very thing that I don't want to do. My impact, there's a distance. This I keep on doing. Now if I do what I do not want to do, it's no longer I who do it.

But it is sin living in me that does it. This word sin, when you look it up in the Greek it means hermitia. It means to miss the mark. Okay, I'm going to say this. Sometimes in church, not this church. Other churches. We'll talk about other churches. We reduce sin down to maybe who you sleep in with it and whether or not you lie. But when we see sin as missing the mark of who we are caught to be, it humbles us because we recognize each day that I wake up. There are moments where the thing I want to do, I don't do. I don't want to talk to you crazy. I don't want to shut you out. I want to be open. I want to be honest. I want to be vulnerable. But the thing that I want to do, I do not do.

And it is sin that is doing it in me. What if we saw those moments where we miss the mark as not as just being human. But as it's actually sinning, missing the mark on who God has called us to be. As a partner, who God has called us to be. As a parent, who God has called us to be. As a leader who God has called us to be. As a friend, I know it's not one of those sexy messages, but I'm telling you that you have to recognize that there is a possibility that you are missing the mark. And if I'm missing the mark, what is it that needs to happen within me, where I do not compromise the mark, because it requires too much communication and it requires too much humility and it requires a skill set in quite frankly. They don't even deserve the version of me who I would be if I actually met the mark. So now I'm meeting their mark instead of his mark and they have become my Lord instead of him,

my Lord, I am who I am regardless of who you are. Sometimes I apologize not because you deserve it, but because I didn't deserve to miss the mark in that way. You may have deserved that cousin, but I didn't deserve to abandon my mission in order to get down on your level, because when I get down on your level, I am no longer the mark. And I can't miss just because you missed. There are some people I don't want to be even with. I'm sorry. I don't want to be on your level. I tried that. It didn't work for me. I don't want to be on your level. I didn't like who I was. I don't want to be on your level. It left me bitter. I don't want to be on your level. It left me angry. I don't want to be on your level. The generational curse can't get broken if I say on your level.

They've been doing this and my family for generations. God has called me to a different mark. So yes, I'm sorry that I abandoned myself. And yes, I repent God because I missed the mark when I went off. And I read them for filth, but I came home dirty because I missed the mark. Paul doesn't just leave us there in Romans 7. He tells us in Romans 8 that yes, it is sing dwelling in me. I am missing the mark because of the sin that is dwelling in me. But in Romans 8 and 2, he lets us know for the law of the spirit of life in Christ Jesus

has made me free from the law of sin and death. That means that though I have missed the mark because sin is dwelling in me, there is also something else dwelling inside of me. And the spirit of God dwelling inside of me is going at war with the sin that is living inside of me. You can't tell it, but you say next to somebody in a war zone because the sin that is dwelling within me is at war with the spirit of God that is in me. And I just wanted to let you know that you may be in the midst of the battle, but the spirit of God does not lose and sometimes God allows that sin to come to the surface so that the spirit can get it on the front line because if you get your sin on the front line and you release the spirit of God over that sin, now God can go to war with the thing that is going to war with your destiny. Now God can go to war with the thing that is going to war with your family. Yeah, bring it out, bring it out, bring it out because I got filled with something that's bigger

than the sin dwelling within me. The spirit of God, that's why I don't want to just be in a room with the spirit. I got to lift my hands and receive it. That's why I don't want to just be around the spirit. That's why I say things like fill me up until I overflow because I recognize that there is some stuff in me that's got to get out of me if I'm going to be who God has called me to be. I realize I got some abandonment issues. I got some rejection issues. I got a pride demon to fight. And I can't do it on my own. Some of y'all sing, fill me up, you singing the song. I'm making a request to God. Fill me up God until I overflow. I want to run over if I can sing out and run you out of this building because we would take about 10 seconds to ask God to fill us up until I overflow because I got sin dwelling in me.

I got pangs dwelling in me. I'm carrying generational sin. The sin didn't even start with me. I got my great grandmother sin down on the inside of me but I got a spirit of God that can change it out of my bloodline. It's called overflow. It's called overflow. You get filled with the spirit. Sometimes I lift my hands. I don't even feel like it. I'm tired. I'm depressed. I'm worried. But I lift my hands because this spirit makes others on my behalf when I can't say a word. I just lift my hands because it's all like that. And it's all I need. This is a job for the spirit. This is not a job I can think my way out of. This is not a job I can play my way out of. This is a job for the spirit.

This sin is a job for the spirit. This addiction is a job for the spirit. This less is a job for the spirit. Now when this spirit gets finished with me, I might be in rehab. When this spirit gets finished with me, I might be in therapy. But no matter where I go, it's kind of starting this spirit. Because this spirit is going to finish this thing. Because I got to be free. I got to be free. I can't do it bound. I can't do it in bondage. God says some of you, I can't promote you. Because I'm going to be promoting the bound version of you. And where you go, you got to be free to create. You got to be free to think. You got to be free to speak truth to power. And if I send you in there bound up, you'll mess around and compromise when I'm calling you to set a new standard.

Before you stay through the moments in between and after your trip. Because a great trip starts with peace of mind. And maybe a good playlist. But we've got the peace of mind part covered. What I love about Jesus. Is that I am not just in relationship with him as someone who goes to church on Sunday. I'll be trying not to say things is going to get me into much trouble. Not too much. I've been in trouble. Not too much trouble. You know what I mean? Church is not the center of my relationship with God.

It's the icing on the cake. I love it for sure. But I am in relationship with Jesus. So when I come to church, it confirms what happened in my relationship with Jesus. Church is a good place to start if you don't know how to get your relationship with God. But if you're connected to a church that doesn't build your relationship with Jesus, you just got a different dealer out of a different corner. But you need to be a part of the kind of church. This is now when you go out of here. You need to make some disciples. When you go out of here, you need to rest shop when you go out of here. You want to be able to change something because I am not your dealer. I am one meant to thrust you into the world. My relationship with Jesus, it sets the mark for me. How do you handle power?

How do you handle failure? How do you handle betrayal? You set the mark. He sets the mark for me. I'm a terrible mark. Don't let me be your mark. I've got to point you to him. He sets the mark for me. How do I speak to people? God. Jesus, help me to understand how do I deal with this when they're talking about me. Jesus, you set the mark. I want to go off Jesus. You tell my turner that cheek. How exactly does your neck move in such a way? Because the way my hands are set up, Jesus, you got to help me. Because I'm so used to defending myself. That I don't know if I can trust you to defend me, but you set the mark for me. That even when it looks like I'm on the cross, even when it looks like I'm lost, God, I believe in your resurrection, powers for Jesus. You set the mark.

And because Jesus sets the mark for us, we have a parameter. We have boundaries. We have a template. And we have a high priest who understands exactly what we've gone through. I know what it's like for someone you trust to be trained. We got a high priest who understands that. How you're promoted one minute than talked about the next. I got a priest who understands that. I serve a Jesus who understands. He is my kinsman redeemer. That means he became like me in order to redeem me. He is my mark. And to be in relationship with Jesus is to not just lust after his power. It is also hunger for his correction.

It is to know that this is going to be a cycle of me hitting the mark and missing the mark and hitting the mark and missing the mark. And so when Jesus and Peter are having this conversation to me, it is the most powerful because it is one of the only times I think in scripture where we see someone who says, no, I can meet the mark and Jesus says, no, you can't. You can't be who you want to be in this moment. And part of the reason why he has to trust him is because Peter is walking into something he's never seen before. You've never seen what's about to happen. You've seen me cast out devils. You've seen me talk to this adriacy and the Pharisees. You've seen me heal people. But what you're about to see. You've never seen before and you cannot trust that that version of you will show up in this mess.

So when you're walking into something new, it's a mistake to say you got this. He's got me. But I don't know if I got this. So I move with humility because I'm probably going to mess this up. But he's still granting me an opportunity to move with him. In spite of the way I'm going to mess it up. So I move letting him lead the way. You don't know how you're going to act on that job. You don't know what marriage is going to be like. You don't know about raising those children. You don't know about retirement. You don't know about starting a business. And don't let Instagram convince you that you such a boss that you don't realize that you also go fail a little bit. And that's okay. Because the journey is hidden in the mark and missing the mark.

When Jesus is crucified and resurrected, he walks the earth for 40 days. I can imagine considering that he would ultimately be ascending and taking his seat at the right hand of the Father that he had a lot to do in 40 days. But Jesus goes out of his way to go and get Peter. I won't touch this too much because Bishop Jake's preached a message called and Peter that is so memorable. You should just don't stop watching this message. You're going to see it. But it's a good time. He goes to get Peter once he's ascended because Peter is so disappointed in himself for missing the mark that he's gone back to fishing.

Because when we miss the mark, we quit. Some of us silently quit. But we back out. I love that Jesus goes out of his way to go get Peter because it shows us so much about who Jesus is. Because when Jesus says, follow me and I will make you a fissure of men. He didn't change his mind just because Peter missed the mark. And you don't get to quit just because you missed. You don't get to quit just because you missed. You changed your mind but God didn't change his mind about you. I came here to preach to somebody who's thrown in the towel because you missed. Yes, you may have lost the marriage but that doesn't mean that you get to just quit living

with integrity. You may have relapsed but you don't get to just quit because you relapsed. You don't get to just quit. You don't get to just throw in the towel. You don't get to just say ministry is not for me. You don't get to just quit because you messed up. If he called you to it, the phone is still ringing and it doesn't matter where you hide. And it doesn't matter where you go. You don't get to just quit. I don't know who told you it was okay. But I came here to tell somebody if I don't do anything else in this room. I came here to let somebody know you don't get to just quit. You don't get to just back out. You don't get to just let somebody else do it. God says I called you to do it. Peter says there's other disciples. Why would you need me? I'm not worthy enough. I don't have what it takes. I messed up too bad but you don't get to just quit. You won't have to put on your big boy draws and get back out on the front line because I'm not finished with you. Yet I'm not finished with you.

Yet, Dean is a heart-done trembling. The devil is not done being destroyed. And I called you to break something in the earth. You don't get to just quit. I know you tired. I know you bruised. Maybe I'm tired too. But I'm called to this. And I don't get to just back down. You don't get to just quit. Yet, they probably talking about you. Yet, you probably impairs. But we don't have a high priest who doesn't understand what it's like to be talked about. To be humiliated. And if he didn't get off the cross, you can't get off yours. Sorry. But not sorry. Because how can we go to war for a generation if we're teaching people, if it gets hard, you can back off. If it gets hard, do something else. You don't get to just quit.

I gave you that child. You don't get to just quit. I gave you that. Remember when the mayor started? And you knew it was me. And you knew it was God. You don't get to just quit. Remember when you were starting the book. And it made sense. Now you got to write us, but you don't get to just quit. I called you to this. But I didn't call you. You could back out. But because you felt something when I said your name. Oh God, I prophesy right now in this room that somebody's feeling is coming back. That feeling of that first salvation. That feeling of the first time you called me. That feeling of when I first thought that I really can do all things through Christ. Who strengthens me? I hear God saying that old thing is coming back. That old school anointing. That old school breakthrough. That old school trust. That old school faith. I hear God saying this coming back. If it's coming for you, I want you to lift your hands

so that when the glory falls in this place, it doesn't just hit your heart. I wanted to get down in your bones. I wanted to get down in your womb. Until you start birthing again. I wanted to touch your lungs. Until you start breathing again. Hand these dry bones live. God only you know it. But if you breathe in this room. We going somewhere. We going somewhere. I feel you God. I feel you breathing. I feel you moving. I feel you shifted. I feel you breaking. I can't just go on as normal. I got to take a minute and acknowledge when the King of glory is here. Because I know when the King of glory steps in, there's something's got to break. I'm trying to break somebody out of being numb. I'm trying to break somebody out of pain. Break it. Break it. Break it. Break it. Break it.

Break it. Break it. Break it. Break it. Break it. Hey, break it out of my secret. Hey, shake it out of my secret. Shake it out of my own. Steed it. Hey, it's Ryan C. This is not the time to quit. This is not the time to quit. You think all the enemy has to do is get you. You think all the enemy has to do is weight war with you. All the enemy has to do is make you indifferent. Because if you are indifferent, you will be stagnant. And if you are stagnant, you have no power, you have no authority, you have nothing to reach towards. Peter, doesn't get to just quit. When we find him in my text, Peter's back is against the wall again.

Probably very similar to the way it was when he first denied Jesus, where he recognized owning his identity could be life for death. When we find him in Acts 4, he's having to pull from the lesson. That Jesus said, you don't get to just quit. I wish I would have put all these scriptures for you to look at. But when Jesus tells him you don't get to just quit, he says, do you love me? Peter says, yes, I love you. I miss the mark, but I still love him. I miss the mark, but I can't deny he's been good. I'm not good, but you're good. And you're too good for me. So yes, I love you. Jesus says, if you love me, feed my sheep.

Do they think I called you to do? Three times he does this. The same amount of times that Peter denied him. Jesus says, I want to give you a chance to own me. Do you love me? Feed my sheep. Do you love me? Feed my sheep? Do you love me? Feed my sheep. No, no, no, no. You don't get to just take this loss. You got to eat this loss. Until this loss becomes a lesson. Because if you eat this loss, until the loss becomes a lesson, when you get tested again in this area, you won't make the same mistake twice. Because you see, I ate a loss like this before. And I learned my lesson that even though I ate this loss, I'm not going to do the same thing over and over and over again.

God, I may have failed you once, but if you tell me you're calling me again, if my back is up against the wall again, I'm going to own the lesson that allowed me another chance. God is not just testing you to fail you. God is testing you so that every loss becomes a lesson. And when that lesson becomes yours, you can own it in front of the very enemy that made you lose it in the first place. And when we see Peter owning this lesson, it's so powerful to me. Because he's standing in front of a council that is trying to teach him a lesson too. They're trying to teach him a lesson to keep his mouth shut. They're trying to teach him a lesson to stay out of the way.

They're trying to threaten him. So you got to know that there are many people trying to teach you. And not everybody trying to teach you is trying to get you closer to who God has called you to be. So you got to be careful who you allow to teach you when you're trying to own the lesson that God gave you. Because somebody's trying to strip you from the lesson that you need to own. And Peter has enough wisdom and insight to understand that you're not even the person giving me the test. You just look like the person testing me. But I know because I know that this isn't even about you. You got to look beyond the circumstance and understand that this looks very similar to something that I failed at before. This looks something very similar to something that God didn't before. And I could take on the lesson of my enemy and shrink. I could fall for the lesson of my enemy and be prideful and boastful. I could fall for the lesson of my enemy but lose my family.

Because the real test wasn't whether or not you could be like the fellas. The real test was whether or not you could be a husband. The real test wasn't whether or not you could be successful. The real test was whether or not you could maintain your integrity. That wasn't the real test. You got to make sure what's the real test here. Because I want to own this lesson. The Sanhedrin Council doesn't understand that they are testing someone who had been robbed before. Some of you, you all learned your lessons the first time. But some of us, we learned by losing. And when God gives you the grace to learn again, after you've lost, you don't just give that up without a fight.

When God tells you you're still worthy regardless of what happened to you, you don't just give that up without a fight. I'm not talking about when you heard it. I'm talking about when you learned it. When you own it, when it becomes a part of who you are, you see I fought for this lesson. Somebody does think you're arrogant. You're not arrogant. I just fought for this lesson. It's not that I don't care. I just fought to finally believe that I am who God says I am. It's not that it doesn't hurt me. It's just you can't have my lesson. I'm trying to own this lesson. My family's depending on me own in this lesson. My children are depending on me own in my lesson. You just can't take it. You can leave me, but you can't take my lesson. You can hurt me, but you can't take my lesson. I may be crying, but you can't have my lesson. I fought for this baby. I beled for this baby. I cried for this baby. I spent 10 years depressed for this baby. I tried to blow my brains out, baby. You can't just take this lesson. I believe that I'm fearfully and wonderfully made. And yes, I went through the divorce. And yes, they may have touched me, but I fought for own this lesson.

And you just can't take it when you walk out the door. This is my lesson. This is my lesson. God gave me this lesson. Jesus went out of his way. He had anything he could be doing in 40 days. But he went out of his way to teach me this lesson. Nobody in your family was saved. But Jesus went out of his way to make sure you know that I love you, that I call you my own. So you can't just take this from me. Because I've already lost it once. God says, I want to give you a lesson. That cannot be easily broken. I want to give you a lesson. That cannot be easily taken away from you. And in Acts 4, we see Peter

owning this lesson. I'm owning this lesson. You got the power to kill me. You think. Don't let the illusion of power misrepresent who actually has power. Because even if God allows you to be the one that takes me out, it's because that was in his plan. Not yours. If God allows me in front of this enemy, he still has the ultimate say so. You have the illusion of power over my destiny. But you do not have the real thing. And I am sorry that I gave you license to believe that you had the authority over my destiny. But I'm telling you right now that I know when it's all said and done. Who holds my tomorrow? You can tell me you're going to try and kill me. I'd like to see you try. Because if you can get past, it's because my God opened the door. And even when he slaves me, I'm still going to trust him. Because whatever dies in me, he knows how to bring it back to life.

You didn't hurt me. You were on assignment. You didn't hurt me. You were working for me. You didn't hurt me. God was suzing you to show me what was in me. And now that I know what's in me, I know how to send them to the next version of who you are. I feel like preaching in this place. I eat. I eat. I eat. I eat. I eat. I eat. I eat. I eat my losses for breakfast. I eat my losses for dinner. I celebrate my success. But I eat my losses. Because I'm trying to figure out what is the loss trying to teach me about who I am, about who God is, about who you are. I gotta eat. I ate them. I ate that. Okay. Okay. Okay.

Wow. Wow. Wow. X4. We see Peter. We see Peter. We see Peter. Standing in front of this council. I'm going to read this. We out of here. Take my time. Take my time. Says. Peter says whether it is right in this side of God, to listen to you more than to God. I know who really holds the authority in this situation. The same Peter who denied is now standing up to this council.

Because he has decided I won't miss the mark here again. I love it. I love it. They thought we'll threaten him again. Yes. I wish I knew he had further threatened him, because I don't even understand what you just said there. I'm threatened you again, but the truth is, they didn't have a way to punish him. Because of the people. Hey, it's Brian C. This is Bioma.health slash GLP1 code CR show for 15% off. And I know we like to be islands. And I know we like to believe that we don't have to be in community and relationship. But there are moments where yes people talk about you. But then there are other moments where people affirm the gift of God down on the inside of you. And if you throw out all the people, you'll miss the people who God's going to call to the witness stand on your behalf. This is so the people in verse 21, can you put it on the screen for me? Because of the people since they all glorified God for what had been done. You'll know that you're owning your lesson appropriately. And the people are glorifying God for what happened through you.

No, no, no, that's better. That's better than we're giving credit for. Because what this says to me is that it started off. Peter was concerned that he couldn't live up to the call because he missed the mark. But when Jesus got finished going out of his way for him, he got back in position. And God let him know in the moment with the people that because you own your lesson, you are living up to the mark that I had in mind for you because people are glorifying God because you hit it out of the park. I want to let you know before we get out of here that there are some things in this earth that only you can do. And there are some lessons in this earth that only you can own. And sometimes those lessons they look like loss. Don't let a loss scare you out of position.

And you don't have to know how you're going to win. You don't know how you're going to own after this loss. But if you dare to trust that Jesus went out of his way so that you didn't quit in the area where you have been called, don't give up. In the places you have been called because it's not just about you, my glory is connected to this. My glory is connected to this and my glory must invade the earth. When I was praying about this message I have to tell you, these are the kinds of times that makes young preachers say I don't know what to say because I've never seen this

before. God says you own who you are in every season. Even when you don't know what to say, even when you don't know what to think, even when your opinion you got to own who I called you to be in every season. And if you own your part, I'll take care of mine. Peterson, I can't help but to speak about what I've seen and what I've heard. I'm not asking you to make nothing up. I'm not asking you to be more eloquent than the person beside you. I'm not asking you to go back to school before you say anything. God says I just need you to speak what you've seen and what you've heard. That's your lesson.

For everything he's allowed you to see, not just the pain that keeps you up at night, but the ways that he made through the pain. Not just the fear of success, but preach about how he's a keeper, how he protected you. Not that it was dangerous, but I kept you. Just preach about what you've seen, what you've heard. And I don't mean you got to preach it like I'm preaching. I'm saying the next time somebody says something to you about their broken marriage, about their pursuit, about their purpose. I don't need you to make nothing up. I don't need you to be the next influencer. I just need you to speak what you've seen and what you've heard. I want to pray with you. This is a moment more than ever where each of us have something to say.

Yes, we have to qualify it. Lay it before the Lord, but quitting can't be our option. Maybe you did fail. I can't even preach. You know, sometimes we really like those messages where it's like it was them, it was them, it was them, it was them. You leave him. You're like, it was them. But maybe it was you too. And if you can own your lesson, maybe I wasn't. I didn't have the most integrity. And now I'm scared to be in a situation that would make a demand on something that I failed at before. Couldn't be present the way I wanted to be present. Couldn't communicate. Couldn't be vulnerable. Couldn't be a safe place. I failed. So now I distance myself from it. I want to ask you to come to this altar.

If you feel most safe at a distance, because you recognize that I didn't really do it right. I didn't really win. As a matter of fact, I didn't just disappoint them. I think I may have missed the mark. I think this was the real sin. Maybe I'm not sleeping with somebody. Maybe I am, but maybe I thought, as long as I'm not sleeping with somebody, I could talk to somebody in any kind of way. But maybe just maybe the real sin was that I haven't been careful with my words. Maybe I've made my relationship with God about performance and checking off boxes.

But Jesus wants to be in relationship with me. And such a way that I start apologizing because I missed the mark. Before you make anything right with anyone, you got to repent for missing the mark with God. God you said it's standard for me. And I feel this for somebody. Some of you missed the mark by accident. By this I mean, you didn't even know where the standard was. Because you didn't have a role model. You didn't have anyone living in front of you in such a way to help you understand where the limits are, where the boundaries were. And you missed the mark. And you have been vilifying yourself because you recognize now what you didn't know then.

And you are not sure whether or not you can actually recover. But we do not serve a God who lives in the dimension of time. Which means that you can repent today for something a version of you did years ago. And you can release relationship and connection in your relationship with the Lord. I want you at this altar because it is a sign of humility. In the room this size and a parking lot that big, we could say to ourselves, you know what? He'll find me right here. And you won't be wrong. But what happens when we come to the altar is we say, I'm going to partner with you. You've already gone out of your way to make sure that I receive this word from you.

I'm going to acknowledge that you went out of your way by moving outside of my comfort zone and outside of my safety and risking the people around me wondering who was going, no, no, no, it's not about that. This is about me aligning myself with the mark who knew how to humble himself to make himself with no reputation. In this room and maybe you don't know Jesus. I hope that I have said enough in this sermon to help you understand that Jesus is not just about church rules and church politics and Republicans or Democrats or gospel or CCM. It's not about that. This is about relationship. And there is something powerful about being in relationship with the mark that helps you understand where can I grow, how can I change what power is available to me, what authority is available to me, what can I speak to disease, what can I speak to principalities,

what can I speak over my child, what can I prophesy because I am relationship with Jesus on my own, I cannot do it. But with him, he gives me access to God in a way that just coming to church doesn't do. I want you to come to this altar if you want to meet Jesus because Lord knows he's been waiting for you to turn towards him. Family I want to pray with you. If you want to meet Jesus, just come while we're praying. I see you moving. I see you moving. Thank you Jesus. Thank you Jesus. Let me just for 10 seconds before I pray. Just take a minute and worship pray. Reflect. Hey, it's Ryan C. Crest for Albertans, Vaughn's and Pavilion. It's stock up sale time, which means you can save big by stocking up on all your personal

I know that everybody's been in charge their whole life. This is an opportunity for us to open our hearts and say, God, I think this message is for me. God, I hear you calling. I feel something in my heart.

I feel something in my spirit. Maybe you're not done. I feel like maybe you're trying to give me another chance, but I'm afraid. I'm nervous. I don't want to mess it up. I don't want to make any promises. I can't keep. But I thank God that you are a promise keeper. So even when I don't keep my promise, God, you'll keep yours. And then you'll teach me how to do the same thing. God. I want the mind of Christ Jesus down on the inside of me. I want to set an atmosphere for glory. I want to set an atmosphere for breakthrough. I want to set an atmosphere and I want to lean into it for my own. Because when I walk out of this place, I won't have a ban. I won't have a multitude. But what I will have are my own lips. What I will have is my own heart. What I will have are the meditations of my heart. And so God, I recognize that this is a holy moment. I thank you, God. Forgive me a word for these, your sons and daughters.

Lord knows, like them, I'm learning how to hit the mark and miss the mark and hit the mark and miss the mark. But I thank you that they are not relying on me. They have a greater priest in Jesus. But they have come to this altar as a sign of surrender. They have come to this altar as a sign of activation. And certainly at this altar there is uncertainty. Perhaps there's even fear. God at this altar, they're nursing wounds, they're nursing hurt. Fatherlessness, motherlessness, no community. There's a reason why they quit. But I thank you, God, that you are all the support that they need. I thank you, God, that you will never leave them nor forsake them. Even when they turn their back on you, God, I thank you that you were yet there. You were present with them. I thank you, God, that because you kept them alive, it was not so that they could be a

viewer of what you will do in the lives of other people. But you kept them alive so that they could understand that I am not finished with you yet. And so, Father, God, I call them back to life. In the area where they are buried inside, in the area where a stone has been rolled over their passion, over their innocence, over their creativity, I speak to that dead thing on the inside of them and I say, come back to life. I speak to that dead thing on the inside of them and I say that Jesus has overcome death. That means that the wages of sin was dead. But thank God for Jesus, somebody's coming back to life. I think you got that when they betrayal them, that they didn't change them. I think you got that when they left them that they did not take anything from them. I think you got that you know how to restore what the locals have eaten. I think you got the confidence is coming back. I think you got that power is coming back. I think you got that vision is coming back. I think you, that ownership is coming back.

I think you got that business isn't over. I think you got the book is killing them. I think you got that the music hasn't been released, I think you that there's a gift on the inside of them that will undeniably kiss you glory. I think you got that you still have love for them. I think you got that you still have hope for them. I think you got that they're going to be fulfilled. I think you got that your word will not return for it and that everything you spoke over them is yet alive. So we say, spring up a well in this place is only you can do. Spring it up, spring it up, spring it up, spring up a well o'clock until they start living again. Until they start fighting again, until they're hungry for the things of God again. I think you got for marriages being healed. I think you got for children being saved. I think you got for health coming. I think you got for strength coming. I think you got for power coming. I think you got for generation don't break through. I think you got it. They are brand-plipped out of the fire.

And because we come into agreement with your word. Because we come into agreement with your call over our fears, over our insecurity. Somebody's having to reach to lay hold of it. But God you're worth reaching for. Somebody's going to have to stretch over generations. But God you're worth stretching for. Somebody's going to have to be someone. They never thought that they could be. But I hear God saying I'm going to be with you. I'm going to show you how to speak. I'm going to show you how to change. I'm going to show you how to walk. I'm going to show you how to love. I'm going to show you how to communicate. I'm going to show you how to leave. I'm going to show you how to step butt into a room in the own room because I'm going to go ahead of you. I think you got for tarotory. I think you got for breakthrough. I think you got that they're generations are going to experience breakthrough. This moment, I believe you're for it. I lay hold of it. God, you're not wasting their time.

If you're not wasting my neither. If you pet me, it's because you want to slay me. And if you want to slay me, God, I want to be ready. I want to be strong. We believe you. I want to be fit for the battle. So I thank you for these soldiers and for these warriors. I thank you that tools are coming their way. That peace is coming their way. Give them the faith to receive this message, to allow it to take root and produce fruit, even when it hurts to believe. I see you. I see you. Thank you for coming down here. I even know it was a sacrifice because belief hurts when you've been hurt. But I thank you God that you see their sacrifice. Hey, it's Ryan C. Crest for Albertsons, Vaughn's and Pavilion.

Our pastors are down on the left. They want to meet with you. We want to know about your family. We want to know how we can help your marriage. We want to help you build that business. We want to give you your kingdom, identity. We want to serve you well. And we are constantly meeting and collaborating to make sure that we can do so. It doesn't matter how old you are, how young you are. But I love about this church is that it is an intergenerational community. And it is our distinct privilege and honor to serve the DFW Metroplex and beyond. Because if you're watching going online, you already know you stuck like Chuck with us. You're watching going online. There are instructions on this screen where you can learn how to become a member, a digital member, an e-member of the Potter's House Dallas. We love you. Please click that button. Get plugged in. We're growing. We're reaching into new generations. We want to learn new methods. And we want to make sure that you come into this space. And we learn about the gifts that you bring that can make us better.

If this is your church, can you just celebrate what this church has done for you and your family? All right, family, let's stand. We're going to prepare to get out of here. We going home. We don't know what this week holds, but we know who holds this week. We don't know what phone calls we're going to get. We don't know what emails await us. What stretching we're going to have to do. But we won't have to do it on our own. Can you just hit the shoulder of the person beside you and say, you got this, you got this. Whatever the week holds, you got this. You got this and God's got you. You got this. You never forget what you felt in this room when your church family said, you got this, you got this, you got this. You got them kids, you got that job. You got those parents. You got your health.

You got this. You got this. Spirit of the living God, we thank you that we have somewhere to go when nothing in the world makes sense. We thank you that you know how to lift burdens and change our minds. You know how to touch our heart from beginning to end what a gracious savior you are. God as our friends, our families, our brothers and sisters depart from us, but not from your presence. I pray a special blessing over their week. God let them have rest in their bodies. God give them rest in their mind. Someone who hasn't been able to sleep at all. I pray that tonight will be sweet rest. I thank you God for dispatching angels over them. That wherever they go, angels will encamp around them. I thank you God for the head of protection that is around them. And when I say them, I mean everything connected to them. God, I thank you for angels and bank accounts. I thank you for angels at the school.

I thank you for angels at the hospital. I thank you for angels connected to everything connected to them. And I thank you God that some of them are going to hit the mark more this week than they have in a long time. Yeah, somebody back at it. And I thank you God that there will be no shame and no condemnation for those moments where they miss. That they'll feel your love and compassion saying, I knew that would happen. But I'm not finished yet. So you don't get to quit either. You receive your sweet presence, God. We receive it. We thank you for it. We'll abide in it. In Jesus' name. Amen. I love you, family.
