Good morning from the Fairbanks Museum in St. John'sbury. This is the eye on the sky recreational forecast. Another cool start to the day. Areas of dense fog will be burning off and we'll see plenty of sunshine today. Temperatures topping out 60s to near 70. There will be some increase in clouds, especially through New Hampshire, parts of southeastern Vermont, all part of a storm system that'll change things for the weekend. It looks like periods of rain, showers and some gusty winds, especially for southern parts of Vermont, southern New Hampshire, northward to about Lakonia and Route 4. Farther north, there'll be a chance of some showers, especially tomorrow afternoon. And then on Sunday, the raining showers continue through southern areas. Scattered showers will expand northward, staying mainly dry west and north of the Champlain Valley into Quebec. For the mountains today, hikers will have one more day of some sunshine, although high clouds will start moving in, especially across the southern green mountains, berkshires and into the white mountains, moderate northeast winds, 20 to 30 miles per hour at times, temperatures warming just a few degrees from yesterday.
The weekend features strong winds and some periods of rain across the southern green mountains, berkshires and white mountains, breezy but mainly clouds in the Adirondacks. At lower elevations, winds today generally light becoming north to northeast less than 10 miles per hour, waves on Lake Champlain less than a foot, but northeast winds increasing over the weekend. I'm meteorologist Mark Brin, with an eye on the sky.
