We got a lot of text man, Tim is working his butt out behind the scenes. He's also an angry man today, all right? Yeah, I'm sorry. I'm trying to respond to his many texts I can. I'm taking calls and doing everything here. Yeah, we got the lines lit up. We got the text going, you know, that it's, it's, we hit, we hit a nerve here on this topic. It's been good. Tim is doing his best to answer all the text. He is getting to everybody. A lot of good text messages coming in. We're talking about, you know, whether or not the rays need to change the way they do things this post season. Should they rely heavily on the analytics like they do all year long or should they get? I don't think they should abandon them. I think that is what makes them a really good team. But I don't believe they should live and die by them going into the post season. Somebody pointed out on the text earlier that Dan Patrick made a good point about analytics are great for 162 game season. They might not be so good in the three or five or seven game series. Ryan and Tarpen Springs. I'm old school on this one. If you've got to run around second, nobody out, move them over.
I don't care what the model says. One run can completely change and in in October and I'd rather force the defense to make a play. That's not something we're going to have to worry about when it comes to the rays. They're going to continue to be aggressive on the base path. I trust them there. Dan and Roskin, no way. This team just won 98 games playing this style. They had the lowest strikeout rate in baseball and actually put the ball in play. Why would we suddenly decide that's not good enough once October starts? Well, I think because based on just past history with the rays and other teams that have the smaller payrolls that rely on the analytics, none of those teams have gotten to the mountain top, the world series. And people believe in post season baseball, it is different. And oh, by the way, it is. And so I do think you have to make changes once you get to October because how many times did we see the rays go on a four game five game skid, right? You can't do that now. You go on a three game skid. You're done.
So you you're going to have to change up your philosophy a little bit. Now, do I think they need to just part ways and throw the computer out the window? No, no, no, no, no. You still got to do what you got to do. The examples that I have given is if Drew Rasmussen is throwing out a lights out game. It's one nothing. And he exits the six inning with a hundred pitch count. I'm bringing them back out in the seventh. If he's pitching well, I'm bringing them back out even though the analytics probably say take them out. If I end up in a situation where say we're in game three and I'll say Johnny Deluca is just having a monster series. But Kevin Cash doesn't like the batting matchup and he brings in a struggling hitter who's still trying to find his way. Those are the moves I'd like to avoid. If Deluca's up at the play and Deluca's having a hell of a series, even though you don't like the matchup, I'm all for leaving Johnny Deluca in, right? That's just a hypothetical explanation I'm giving you.
That's where I would like them to maybe change the philosophy a little bit. But the moment that philosophy backfires and they go away from the analytics, you're not allowed to complain to Kevin Cash that he should have stuck to the computer. Let's go to Adam and Spring Hill. What's up, Adam? Hey, what's going on? Before you picked up the phone, analytics told me I was going to get stolen by a lost place. My bad. Hey, listen, I think the master should have stayed in the back a lot, honestly. But here's the deal. The analytics to this whole thing has nothing to do with your clutch gene like I was telling Sam. Some guys are going to perform much better than others under this kind of pressure. So a lot of times the analytics are not going to even pick that up. No, I agree. Adam, there's a lot of things analytics don't pick up. They don't have a feel for the game. They don't understand the magnitude and the situation. They just, it's numbers. There's no feel. And yeah, Tim, they're going to go up and play.
Yeah. We can send the numbers so much. Just go out and play ball and do what you do. Thank you for the call, Adam. I appreciate it. Let's go to Adam and Largo. Adam, go ahead, man. What's up, my friend? Just a quick analysis. I mean, like we look at analytics and we say, oh, you know, a team is go with money ball. Like Oakland, you know, made that whole movie about money ball. If money ball and analytics works well, they wouldn't win three titles with those lineups. Like me and your boy were discussing a couple of minutes ago. They would win three titles with analytics. They didn't. You know, looking at that game last night, you know, this one is an example. Land of versus Philadelphia. Breastheartper makes that bonehead play misjudging the ball. They go down three, one. I'm listening to the game live, watching the game live, listening to the radio, radio analysis for the brave. Now they bring in Lee, which analytics says the brave should do, right? They're going to go against Harper and Schwarber back to back. So they bring in Lee and the analytics says that's what you should do. The brave's analysis on the radio is saying that his stuff looks flat while he's warming up. I immediately pull out all my money on Fandool for the brave's winning because
Fandool is offering like 95% payout. I flipped it, put it all on or the bridge or the fillies to win because he goes out there. And he tosses an off speed knee ball that Schwarber just takes 447 feet deep. And then he decides to throw the same pitch to Harper and Harper takes it like 425. Now those are situations where like you look at the situation, you're like, okay, my guy's not warming up right. It doesn't look good. You know, let's go a different route or even after that pitch to Schwarber, where you have now Harper, who is, I don't care what anybody says. The guy is a top 10 clutch hitter. The dude's going to make a play and you pitch him the same way you pitch Schwarber. Like analytics has its place, but the managers get paid that huge money to have the fields, to have that baseball knowledge. Like you said, to understand situation, performance and who's going to make a play. All good stuff, man. Congratulations on that bet. I mean, they go back to back to back. That's a hell of a call by you. It was a 10 to one payout. I made $375, flipping that bet. Incredible.
Good, nice job. Well done, Adam. You know, one thing we haven't even brought up that game ended on a challenge. Philly threw a pitch. They started to walk off as they had won the game and they called a ball. They challenged it ended up being called a strike game was over. I don't know how I feel about it. Like it will be weird when a world series is decided that way and someday that probably will happen. Yeah, I think the challenge is all year. I've loved them. I think they've been great. I do. I did, you know, they're quick and they are kind of dramatic. At the end of the day, a game will end and it'll be the right call, which I like. I just, I don't know how much I know there's, there's mixed emotions. Everyone, no one's going to agree on whether or not they like it or not. But it was, it was interesting to see a game. That's the first one ever, of course. We'll see how it goes. Where are you going to say? No, I agree. I think it's when you challenge it and win off of it.
Or I think it's one of you challenge and lose. You know, like I say, you have a one run lead. It's late in the game. It's the bottom of the ninth. You think you get a strike for it. That would have ended the game. You would have won. But then you lose. Oh, how would that emotion is going to feel? Yeah. Like I guess most importantly, I'm just glad they get it right. When they first brought the challenge idea, I hated it. But I think it's been a success. I like it. I think it does add some drama. But it was weird to see a postseason game on that. And it's, it's going to happen to World Series. It might happen this year. It's going to Brian and plant city. What's up, Brian? But that time, like you're taking these colors in order. I'm just, I'm just picking them up, Brian. And we got a lot of calls to text. Yeah, but yeah, yeah. That, that's, I've been on a lot, I'm losing an hour. I appreciate it. Yeah, anyway, I don't like that Leo with that's the first thing. When they have a Leo, they never come back from it playing good.
And they had the all star game. How many games they came back in law street with seven or eight games. And they got this little and the same is set up for the Yankees to win it. I hope I'm wrong. But I think it's set up for them to win it. I just hope they don't go on a song. You and me both, Brian. Now the, the number is in the, in the, the American league, the American league teams with the buyer seven and one historically since this began in 2022. So the numbers are in their favor now. In the national league, though, it is a different story. The team with the buy since 2022 and when they started this little bracket, they're two and six. I'm talking about when they hit the all star game. Yeah, you know, you're talking about the all star game. I'm talking about, I'm talking about the, the, the, the, the. I understand that but still it's a layoff and they didn't do well when they came back from the all star game. They went on up to seven or eight game loses. Nope, that is correct. But I'm the freedom. No, I'm with you too. I think, I think baseball is Brian.
I appreciate your call as always. I think baseball is that one sport where I don't necessarily want a long layover. Baseball and hockey. Yeah. Hockey. I'll take the rest a little bit. You're right, though. I've seen plenty of teams. Let's say sweep a series, half the weight for the, you're not wrong. And then it lose. You're not wrong. Baseball for me, though, is like the number one just hitting because baseball is not as crushing on the body as hockey. That's why I put baseball like one where I need it. I got just just so important, but you're right. Hockey. We've seen it hockey too football. I'll take the buy all day. Absolutely. Unless Todd bulls is my coach because he's like I went five one and five. Let's go one and five. Let's go to Adam and Spring Hill. Oh, you know what? I think we already talked to Adam and it just never hung up on him. Let's go to, let's go to race fan. Gia, what's up? Gia. I got two things for you. One is here's the ultimate analytics comparison. Blake Snell had faced Mookie bats four times where it was his third at bat in the game.
And he was two for four lifetime off of snow and those at bats were in games that were in April and May. That is why the decision was made by coach Cash to get Blake Snell out of game six in the world series. Analytics is nuts when it comes to that type of thing. Mookie bats was ecstatic that Blake Snell was leaving that game and got a double off the next really picture. If you want to trick any Yankee fan and tell them this. The Yankees have five billion dollars. This millennium and only have one championship and then the stupid Yankee fans will say, we have two. We have two. The millennium started in 2001 and your last championship was 2000. That doesn't count for this millennium. Go raise Yankee suck. Thanks. Thanks, Gio. Yeah, they have a one since I lived in New York and that was in 2009. It's been a long time.
We got a couple of Yankee fans in the building, not that work at DAE, but that work here and they were there Yankee. I'm like, what are you doing? Like, why are you? Here's the funny thing is that in, like, I'm a transplant. So I can't hate on the transplants. But I think when you move here at like the age of three, you're not, you're from here. Therefore, you should be on the teams from here, I believe. Now, for I think if you move here as an adult, it's hard for you to give up your team when you, we've been with them your whole time. But if you move here at like the age of three, you can't say you're from New York and where Yankee has just my, my, my, yeah. No, I got them. But what if like your father is a fan of all those teams from back home? Yeah, I mean, I guess that's part of it. But the people I'm talking about, I don't even know if they talked to their dads. Oh, okay. So no, no excuse. No excuse. All right. You know, my dad, there's no excuse. All right. The show's going off the rails.
We'll be back.
