Despite a loss in Chattanooga on Wednesday, forward Madison, clinched a play-up spot with a 3-0 home win over AV Alta on Saturday. Today, Ethan and I talk through the disappointing loss, the relief of the win, and the fight to finish second. Then it's his padded characters tonight on Saturday, and we welcome Argus Rodrigo Carapia, the designer of the past three Hispanic characters jerseys, the talk inspirations, process, and butterflies. And in stoppage times, yet another reason MLS is not a serious league. It's the 6-0 8-Sockers Show, let's go! What is that, Flock and Friends? It's Robert Chappell with Ethan Maries, how are you?

Good, happy to be here ready to get this thing going. I hope my connection lasts better for our listeners this time. Yeah, folks who may not know, because we were able to... Riverside is great at stitching stuff together, but we had a little bit of connection issue last time, which is where the end part was delayed a little bit. But we made it, and it was all good. And connection or not, you always have a lot of great things to say, so we'll get through it. We have a loss and a win to talk about, we're a skip over the loss mostly. Couple things to mention, we did clinch playoffs on Saturday. We're hitting the postseason again. This is the earliest we've ever clinched in terms of calendar. My understanding, I think in 2024, we clinched on September 21st, which is the same part of the season, there were still five games left. But this is the earliest in the year that we've ever clinched playoffs. And I think the way I'm doing the math, and I might be wrong on this, but I think our

magic number to clinch a home game is three. Meaning any combination of four Madison wins and boys, he losses, and after three, would clinch us a home, no worse than fourth. I think that's the case. I'm not 100% sure. That's the next thing out. That seems close to that. Within two, three weeks, we might be clinching a home field match, which is great. One other thing to mention is Hispanic Heritage Night this Saturday. And we are going to speak in a little bit with Rodrigo Garapilla, who is the artist who has done several now Hispanic Heritage shirts, the warm-up tops for four Madison. So we're going to chat with him about his new one. Have you seen the new shirt yet? Yeah, I just saw a release on Twitter today. It's definitely too loud to be a match kid, even for four Madison. For sure. For a pre-match, it looks really nice. I really appreciate how symmetrical it is. I'm a big fan of a symmetrical kid. Yeah, yeah. And he actually, we'll talk to him out of it.

He mentioned in the sort of artist statement about the symmetry of Latino art. It's very important. The other thing we learned this week is that four Madison has told season ticket holders to plan for 20 home games next season. And the league has told clubs to plan for 19, which means a couple of things, which means probably four Madison must have another international friendly already in mind or on the books or something. But also what it means for the rest of the league is if we have 19 home games and two of them are league cup matches, at least 17 home league games. Well, there's the shirt. He's got it. If you're watching any of you, you can see the shirt. I love the blue. That deep blue is fantastic. The 17 home matches, assuming they're doing the balance schedule again, that means there's going to be 18 teams in the lead.

And this year we have 17. We know voices going up. And we know we're adding three or four teams. We know cascades. We know Thousand North California. We know Fort Lauderdale and we know Poins, they'll Lucy was supposed to start in 2027. They recently announced that they're going to open a new stadium in 2028. So the question is, are they going to play somewhere else for a season or are they kicking their suit, their launch a year? Don't know for sure yet. But if we're adding four, voices going up, that means there might be one or two that drop out. We've heard some rumors. I don't want to put any names on those, but we're probably going to lose a couple of our current teams to either the league two or just going on a business. It's kind of the reality of side growth at this level. So even after a Wednesday loss and a Saturday win, what are your, what are you feeling right now? What are your thoughts? Well, I, we're in a position that is as good as anyone could have possibly hoped for

at the beginning of the season. You know, if you would have said heading into September, you are going to be in, they're heading into October. You're going to be in third place. And only the best team in the league at Omaha are in front of you. I would have bitten your hand off for that. But I'm pretty excited about that. But it does really stink to go on the road and lose to Chattanooga. That whole franchise is just confusing and not my favorite opponent to play against. But that didn't kind of feel like it may have been throwing in the towel for the actual push for the players' shield. I was really surprised we played the back up goalkeeper. And I thought that he wasn't very good on the goal, but I did think that he was very good in a lot of other instances. So I'm not going to sit here and say always to back up goalkeepers fault. But that game was tough. That was possibly one of our worst games. But that's a bounce back and get a 3-0 at home to Alta. In the rain, actually, the rain is always an emotional multiplier.

If it's a sad night, it's even more sad. It's a happy night. It's even more happy and endearing. So that was a lot of fun. The flock was in rare form, I will say. But yeah, I mean, we're not quite hitting the two points per game that we really need to hit to be serious challengers, and that's OK. But home playoff game has always kind of been the ceiling for this team. And that's what we're on course for. Yeah. And once you get into the playoffs, anything can happen, right? You can, this team can go on the road and we could win a playoff game on the road if everything's lines up right. I think there wasn't as much rotation in that loss as I thought when I first stood to line up, because it was Roman Torres was out because of the yellow cards. That's not that's idea. And I understand you might want to give your goalkeeper a night off. Also you want to keep your number two sharp and fresh and engaged just in case.

So I can understand that. Like I said, the goal was weird. We'll talk about it. But not having a grind, Carmichael start was tough, but also I understand he's played almost every minute of every game. Yeah. Yeah. So I don't think there was so much that who waved in the right flag as just trying to rest some guys and get some minutes for some other guys, whatever. I think we did make it through. It seems to me that as if we made it through a tough stretch, right? We had that crazy month in July and then like August and the first part of September was just kind of a slog. And we made it through. We didn't collapse. We didn't, we're not losing every game. We're we get some draws that we should have been wins. We want a couple that we should have won more decisively. Yeah. You know, that kind of stuff. So I feel like and I feel like the performance on Saturday and we have nothing but Saturday games now. And this home stretch, it's until like we made it through the tough patch and now we

just got to keep pushing to the end. I will say, you know, you kind of you kind of actually the last couple of times after the match is like, is this the best team we've ever had? And it occurred to me that this team is playing 10 more games than the 2020 2014. That's right. 24 was the previously the best team with that question that we had. Could those guys have gone 10 more games at that form? Probably, I don't maybe think maybe, but maybe not. You know, would we have would we have fallen off in the last 10 games? I mean, this team has already played five more games and that team did all whole season. That's true. The regular season. And there's and we're still in this form. I think that's that speaks very well of this particular team. The other thing to note is that this team is very good when it scores first. Yes. I did a quick count and I'm not 100% sure of this count. I did it really quickly, but I think we're 14, 1 and 3 when we score first.

Three draws. We've only lost once when we score first and three. We've given up a second goal to take a draw. One of those was Cosmos. We gave two goals in like three minutes. And then we are one, five and three when we can see first. Three times we've come back to get a draw. Five times we've lost. We can see first. And then once we come back to win. And we're really because we're really good at defending a lead. This is not a team where you're really worried about a stopper time equalizer. Yeah. And the other thing we do really well and what we did on Saturday is once the other team is chasing, you know, they're leaving gaps and we're much better at exploiting those caps and they can pay and getting those sealer type goals at the end of matches than in previous teams have been. So what we're now so good at is chasing games. So thankfully we usually score first. So we got to keep that up, right? Yeah, that's really good research. And for the folks, the folks watching on some sort of video platform,

seeing me shake my head when I thought that when we talked about the 2024 team, being able to go 10 more games, we really limped into the end of the season. If you remember that, yeah, it remains to be seen whether this forward team does that. We've been a little bit cold in our last 10 or 12 just looking over the schedule. But that's because the 10 or 12 before that were like 10 wins and two draws. And big wins, like five one wins. Mm-hmm. Right? So it feels like a pretty normal stretch of games feels like a rough patch. Right. It feels cold. Exactly. Because there were legitimately several home games, those three consecutive home one one draws. That felt like it should have been wins. Yeah. And then you go to Chattanooga and there's no, as many excuses as you want to give about fatigue and rotation, except that was just a bad performance. Yep. And you have felt like, is this it? Is this where we started to collapse?

Right? Is this where are we going to limp into the playoffs again? And so this three O and AVLTA was a really, really important game. Yes. And now I believe we're also done with Saturday, Wednesday, Saturday games. Yeah. Five games left all on Saturdays, three of them at home. Yes. Yeah. So this is what we need to get into the playoffs and we still have that one game. It's not necessarily a game in hand on Omaha, but that one game against Omaha where if we could take three points off them and make them draw three points, we could have deep in think about leaf frog in them into second place. And we do actually have a game in hand on them. I don't know when they don't, I don't know. They must have a Saturday off because they only have four games left to play. We have five. And one of one of those games, I can say is the last game of the season. I, my feeling right now is that that might be the decirmerant for second place. If they got to lose a couple before that it might end up in a home or medicine. Are playing for second place.

Yes. Yep. Which would be fine. Yeah. Let's, let's talk briefly about Chattanooga. We can't, we've actually kind of touched on all the notes I've had about Chattanooga because I didn't, don't really, not much to talk about. The, um, their goal was early and it was a little bit lucky. I feel like it was a short corner. We didn't respond quickly enough. Two guys came up to try to set to the ball. And our Hernandez just hit it and it sort of scooted through a bunch of traffic. I'm not sure how it even got through all that traffic. And that, that's key was. Carving the near post. And it got past him to the far post. And, um, just the highest fought my rating on our team was Chattanooga. It was 6.9. Like you're not going to win a game if nobody's over seven on five. You know, right? Right. Our midfield was just a little bit weak of all the three midfielders. None of those guys started as midfielders. I think any of the season.

All right. So, Seggers was a midfielder. But no Jackson Castro, no Roman Torres, no Eddie Magyoma as well. So, oh, that's right. Now, missing some pretty key players. And then I only lost one. Yep. And Ben Oggy got his first start and it's right. Wasn't, wasn't great. Wasn't bad. I thought he was much better on Saturday when it came in as a sub. Uh-huh. And, uh, yeah, just nobody, nobody really grabbed that came by the scrubber and that can, the way Roman Torres would have could have or even rank Carmichael would have or could have he came in late. Um, Carmichael did, but, uh, yeah, just, you know, it's, you're off some nights and again, that was another Saturday Wednesday Saturday. And that's the Wednesday and you're saving some for Saturday, which, you know, you say you're taking one game at a time, but you're saving something for Saturday. Right. You know, no, no doubt about it. So, just a rough night. Uh, just fell off and, uh, the nice thing about a short week is that you could bounce

right back and you don't have to stew in it. Exactly. For a whole week. Right? Yep. Um, so we get to Saturday. And we kind of, um, we talked after the game that this three, no win over all to again, two late goals, exploiting their lack of a guy, first of all, but also they're pushing to try to chase the game. We take advantage of that. Um, and, uh, it's just, um, it didn't, it didn't feel in the moment like it was a dominant win, but watching it back and looking at the stats, it kind of was. I mean, we, they didn't have a single shot on target. Yeah. When I was telling my friend about this game, I said, we scored first and then Alta had a position, uh, spell of play where you could tell they were winning, but they couldn't score, which was a thing that used to happen in the Mingles all the time. You know, we had the ball and we were dominating the match, but you can't get the ball in the net. And that's a little bit what Alta did and they didn't get paid for their, their

strong play. And then the second goal, I think, really killed them off. Um, it was, it was an important goal for us to score and it was good for Carmichael to get back on the score sheet. I think he's only had one in the last couple of games. Uh, yeah, that was really great. Um, we should mention, uh, the lineup was much more. The usual, the group, you know, everybody's kind of back except the injured guys, of course, but then, um, we should know that Avialta was without their top scoring threats. Jerry just tuned in at a mommush. We're both out. Um, the, the whole game felt like it was kind of a real scrap between the boxes, right? And either team could really maintain much possession in the midfield. Uh, and it was, which was, it was fun. I mean, it was, I like a scrappy match. You know, it's kind of fun. Um, and, uh, we, we, both teams also had a hard time breaking down a little block, which, I mean, I mentioned that to you after the game and you said, I don't think anybody

in this league can really break down a little block. Is it tough skill to do? And that's why they call her an attack team's score so much. Yeah. And our, our, our first goal was on a, was on a turn over from a press. Our, uh, their red card was from a counter attack. Our second goal is from a counter attack and our third goal was from a, a short step piece. Um, yep. So that builds up breakdown of all the boxes and not thinking we do and that's okay. Um, and that is, you know, what Matt said after the game, we find a lot of different ways to win, which is really important. Um, I thought Eddie Majomo was great again overall. Yeah, he was a lot of fun to talk to at the end of the match. Yeah, yeah, because of that, if you haven't yet, he's a really, really good guy to talk to you. Um, I thought Cladon Google had a terrific game and it's really unfortunate that he had nothing to show for it. Yeah. He's definitely taken a step forward as a player since the beginning of the season. We might have even taken two steps forward. Yeah, I think so. So let's talk through a couple of these, um, moments, uh, early on, um, Eddie Majomo gets another goal. His second of the season, which is fantastic.

Um, as I mentioned, this was on a, on a press. It was, um, a central sort of restart. And we've kind of forced him back, um, room on torres being pesky as he always is, by the way, as well as a lay pushing it back inside. Um, Majoma actually started this by dispossessing afraid or tease. And then he chased it, beat lay to it, um, they started ricocheted around and, and a little bit lucky that it fell rates around Carmichael when, when, when Majoma and late kind of came together, um, but Ryan was able to settle it. And Majoma made a really clever run, a, a day went running to the box and, um, Carmichael slipped them through and just the, the one touch. With his right and the chat was left without, he didn't take much time to, like get himself sorted or set or anything. It's still put a lot of power behind that ball with his left to get a pass down. So Smith, who is, we should mention a very good goalkeeper. Yeah. Or really top goalkeeper. That was one of our biggest problems against Sarasota is that we couldn't get any defensive turnovers and turn them into offensive chances.

Yep. So great to rectify that in the first 20 minutes. And just like you said before, if we score first, we win. Right. Because once, once we have that lead and they're chasing and we're, and we're holding it, but, but the nice thing is we're not a team that's going to pack it in. We're not going to sit back. We're not going to park the bus until very late if we do it all. And it's getting, we didn't, um, you know, I mean, Ryan Carmichael had another chance very soon thereafter. It's kind of a counter attack started by Mark Seigberg's actually, um, down in there. And, uh, it sort of stepped over a little cross and, and back healed it out. And then McCami cleared it calling McCami, but he didn't just clear it. He actually made a really nice pass, uh, to Ryan Carmichael. And he's off to the races. And I, he had Boama and then Gooba with him. He probably could have slipped it over to Claude. Um, but I think he kind of wanted it himself, which is fine. If you're number nine, I guess okay to be greedy once in a while, uh, especially on Carmichael night.

Yeah, right. It was Carmichael night went in Rome. Carmichael. Right. It was the Carmichael when they're singing. We all dream of a team of Carmichael's. I want to want to score. Uh, but again, we mentioned this. I mean, terrific save from him. Uh, to keep, to keep Carmichael out right then. Um, and then one and a half time feeling pretty good. Right. Uh, we had a couple of chances early in the second half. Uh, Claudel, um, had one, uh, uh, it was actually a goal kick. It came all the way up and go ahead and it down to Boma. Um, he played it kind of forward and kind of knocked down a little bit and come right. Carmichael actually picked it up and played Claudel through. And I was on the inline down there trying to get video of it. And I honestly got thought it was in. I was like ready to catch the celebration. It was that far wide. And yeah, I want to give a little bit of credits to Danza Smith because you know, he's a good goalkeeper.

You know, you've got to take it as wide as you possibly can to get to tuck it in the post. And he just tried to wrap his foot around it and just it just went that far wide. Um, yeah, rough night for Claudel. Yeah. Well, and I think that really illustrates how Ryan Carmichael is a lot more than just a goal scorer. He's a great playmaker. Yes. Because he attracts all the tension of the defense, that means guys like Claude and Steven are able to have much freer lanes to run into. Uh, yeah, speaking of Steven, I mean, he had his own peg. Very near chance. I went out to crossbar. Um, and again, it was, uh, it was really one on account pressed by Ryan Carmichael. Uh, and it kind of bounced to Steven and a comical actually made a diagonal run. I was actually asking for the ball, but also that drags some defenders. Uh, why to give Steven a little bit more time and space. Um, and he put a good shot on it. Danza Smith was really shut the ground completely frozen.

Yeah. And, and he was, Danza Smith was just open. You know, and it went off the crossbar. Unfortunately, that's kind of been Steven season. Yeah. A little bit. I'm lucky. Um, they, uh, go down a man right about the, uh, but the 80th minute, I think I did not know that they had a 16 year old on their roster. Did you know that? Oh, I didn't realize that. No. Yeah. Well, Elliot, Elliot John is, uh, is born in January 2010. He's two months older than my third kid. Wow. Yeah. Um, but it was actually, he got fouled actually to earn a free kick. Um, maybe like 30 yards out maybe. Um, and if we kick comes into the box, Mark Seggberg's intercepts it and clears it. And then, uh, Josh Poma picked it up and just brilliantly scooped it forward into the run around Roman Torres. Just perfect. And, um, in John's snagged Roman Serzy and pulled him down.

And, uh, it was, you know, I often see a dog, though, in your own half, but at 100% was, right? Oh, nailed on. Absolutely. Yeah. No question. No hesitation from the referee and no real argument from Elliot John or from anybody else at all. In fact, Jimmy, Jimmy Lubos was kind of getting on Elliot John. Like, what are you doing? Like, he wasn't mad at the rap. He was like, you got his head. You can't. I, I think it was a fine foul because if not, it's one on one on goal. I don't think any other player was catching up to Torres. Um, no, you're right. You're right. Uh, and I get it. I get my comes from him and he's, I mean, it's risky take. Right. Uh, and that situation, but it's also, you know, you have really good go cater back there. You might be able to catch up to him. You're probably not going to catch up to him honestly, but. Yeah. But, you know, when, uh, uh, Roman sitting in the center circle going, that's a red. That's a red. And it was. Yeah. I mean, this is no, no question about it. Um, and, uh, and it paid off. Um, we took about five minutes for a rank, I'm like, I'll dig at his goal.

Uh, this was a off of a corner. Uh, this is a, uh, an alter corner, I should say. And I think it was Kevin Carmichael. It headed it headed the corner away. We are dream of a team of Carmichael's. And again, it's Josh Bolman picking it up. And what I run this was up the left hand side. Yeah. For Josh Bolman. It just kept going. Well, and they, we did that to him for the red card five minutes ago. So they kind of spent their last chance red card denial of an obvious goal score. So you can't do anything on this one. Right. Um, yeah. No, you got to let him go. And he had Torres and Carmichael with him. And, uh, played it square. Played square, like in front of rank Carmichael, but rank caramel didn't pick it up. He let it run to Rome Torres, which is really smart. Uh, it said he, he, he running in Roman just first time, just first touch right into the path of rank Carmichael. And he's through like that's all, he's just bang, bang. Um, and he had missed the chip earlier.

It went over. Uh, so he didn't quite chip it up this time. He just elevated it enough to get over Denzel Smith's sliding and trying to stop it. Really nice finish for him and good for him to get his goal on Carmichael night. Yeah. Yeah. I'm really proud of that. Really happy for it. It was a beautiful goal. Honestly, it's not going to win goal the week or anything, but great to watch. Especially if you're in the grandstand, I bet it just looks great developing. It looked great developing from the end line. I mean, you can see it coming. You can, and it was just like, it was just beautiful. Uh, you love those that are really fast and downhill. And they're poor. Also guys with their facing their own goal, just spending as fast as they can. Trying to get some to it. Rough for them. And then we, we seal it off a charge ball, Ma. Very simple research is to foul restart, which this one, I don't think you can attribute to them chasing because it was a restart in their area. They had every opportunity to get back defensively. Yeah. But it was Ben Argy gets his first assist for us. Yeah. I think right?

He has an assistant, has he? I don't think so. And his first 90 minutes as well, right? He played the full 90. Not this one. He played most of the game on Wednesday. Okay. He started this one. He came in. Oh, you're right. He came in for segbars, I think. But I thought he played really well. I thought he was really good as a substitute. He's pretty bright. Like, Ben Argyllic. He's trying to emulate Roman Torres. He's trying to be our Devon voice, I think, a little bit. He's trying to be pesky and bothersome. Yeah. And, you know, we'll take that. But this touch that he makes into, it was like four defenders. Kind of collapsing on him. And Bulma's kind of scooting through. And he just, the weight of that ball to Bulma was just absolutely perfect. And then to get, to just unlock that, just take those four guys out of it. And then there's one I'm on with with the goalkeeper again. And Bulma just on the outside of his boot pops it over and in. And that closed the door. Yeah. I thought Ben Argyllic cook up a really good position to receive the ball.

Like right in the center of the channel. If you will. And he had so many different options. And the option that he took played beautifully and paid off. Yeah. Beautiful. Couples test. We'll throw out here. As I mentioned, all to head nine shots and none of them on target, which is pretty impressive from a defensive standpoint. We had 10 shots. We did that. Yeah. We only had 10 shots, which is not a lot. And five of them were on target and three and more in. So that's very efficient. We only had 43% possession, which again, that's another indication of Matt's claim after the game that we have lots of ways to win. They don't have to have ball. We completed 247 passes, but 149 of them were in their half, which is, I mean, that's a tilt of field. Which is good. And so that leaves us, as you mentioned before, seven points behind Omaha for the Shield with one game in hand. And we're also five behind Charlotte.

So as you mentioned, like, I think the shield is not going to happen. Yeah. I don't think both of those teams are going to collapse completely. One of them might, but I don't think both of them will. Yeah. So all we got to do is try to keep pace and try to stay in third. And maybe maybe jump up in the second. Yeah. But it was a boy. It's so incredible how a win of any kind can wash the taste of your ass out of your mouth. Right? Yep. It's like, whispering after an hour after cup of coffee. It's just like so refreshing and so nice. So now we have, we have Spokane on Saturday. And we go to Fort Wayne. And we go to Westchester. And then we finish the season home to Portland and home to Omaha.

I think all of those games are winnable. We beat Omaha once in the cup, right? When we had nothing to play for, they had everything to play for. And we beat them four to three. And then we miles one. I think all again, all of these games are winnable. And I think we will. Will we, you know, second or third? I'd come to the end of the season. Yeah, I hope so. But Knoxville is also, I mean, I wouldn't say they're looking strong, but they're in every position to compete as well. But they've got Westchester and Richmond and Cosmos yet to play out of their five. So. Yeah, that's it. That's the other thing is we do have to try to, we're not just trying to keep pace ahead of us. We're trying to keep ahead of Knoxville. And Boise for that matter. Knoxville's four points behind us. Boise is five points behind us. So if we drop in points, we're given them a chance to catch up. Yeah. So it is, it is a little tight at the top of the table. And we're in a good spot, I think.

All right, we're going to take a short pause and we'll come back and speak with the Hispanic Heritage shirt artist Rodrigo Carapia. This is Eric Winer. You're listening to the 608 soccer show. And joining us now, the artist behind the Hispanic Heritage shirt for for Madison Rodrigo Carapia, how are you doing, sir? Good, how are you? We're doing great. I think we're here. Well, thank you so much. We're happy to have you. Thank you for the invitation. Yeah, you're welcome. Thank you. Thank you for the invitation. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. You're welcome. Thank you. You're welcome. Thank you. You're welcome. Thank you. Thank you. Yeah, you bet. Thanks for the making the time. Tell us first of all, just introduce yourself to our to our listeners. Your year, your Madison based, uh, primarily muralist, right? Tell us how you get to Madison and sort of what's your art journey?

Yeah. So I'm from Mexico City, but I've been feeling Madison for 16 years, around 16 years. So I've been here for a long time. I moved here, uh, yeah, when I was 17, so half of my life has been in Madison. And I am a muralist. Um, I've been painting murals around the city for many years and, uh, doing collaboration with, uh, with different organization and, and, uh, support teams, yeah. Uh, and this is your third, uh, jersey for four Madison. How did you have that relationship start? Uh, yeah, it's my third year. See, I start doing, uh, designing posters for them. Uh, you know, they have like a game posters. And I did like two every year and then I, when I had like seven posters already, uh, they asked me if I wanted to do a jersey for the Spanish, uh, uh, Hispanic Heritage Month. So yeah, it was, uh, a big change for me because I had to do a little research and, uh,

to be able to do it. And then after that, like, everything was, was good. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah, I'm really happy with how it turned out. You really put a new spin on the classic four wood Madison colors. This isn't, you know, pink stripes and blue stripes. There's all sorts of iconography about it. I think the most, the most predominant thing on the kit is the butterflies. Why, why did you pick to put the butterflies on there? So, uh, as I immigrants, we use a lot, a lot of the symbol of butterflies to represent ourselves, uh, to represent the community. Uh, yeah, I, I guess that's the main part why I use butterflies, but also it's a symbol of beauty and, uh, and our resilience and also it's a good balance to add to the design. I always use butterflies in my designs. Okay. Yeah. Um, tell us a little bit about the, some of the other, um, the other design elements in the

certain and, uh, where they come from. Yeah. So we have, uh, the design we have a music elements and dancing elements. And that this year I wanted to do a, uh, performing artist and kind of like focus and, and the, and the beautiful art that we have in Latin America. And the amazing musicians and the music, dancing, folklore, the beauty of everything combined. That's why I, I wanted to use those elements as a representation of all community this year. Yeah. That's awesome. And tell us about the process. So when you're, when you first sort of conceptualizing, uh, a jersey like this, which is different than what you normally do. Like you said, you had to kind of like learn how to make your murals into a shirt. Uh, but are you, are you sketching? Are you painting? Are you just, is it all digital? How do you go about taking the idea? Put on a shirt. Yeah. The good thing about working with forward management is that they give me 100% freedom, artistic freedom. Oh, yes. It's awesome.

They use to trust my work. And so that's, that is good for an artist too. Uh, you know, I start designing, you see, in a paper, in a piece of paper, a sketch, sketching. And then once I have a kind of like an idea, I start working on the digital part. And uh, this, this, uh, these jerseys are a 100% design. So I designed every corner of the jersey, every detail, I pretty much give it to them. It's really used to print. And um, so I, I, I guess the process is something step by step, uh, working on every element, working on every detail. That's why I add a lot of details to the design. And I would like to, to, to, so the fans to, to see every detail in the jersey. And then, uh, to kind of like enjoy the, the elements in it, because it represents a lot for us. Yeah.

What do you, what does the, the triangles represent? The triangles going up and down in the middle of the shirt. It's all the, the textiles of, uh, Latin American textiles and symbols that we use and all ancestors use, we used to use it. So it's a representation of, of our ancestors, um, and the, the beautiful textiles that we still have. Mm-hmm. So yeah. So yeah, I have a review. Thank you so a little bit. So the best part is I love the back. Kind of like, uh, yeah, you know, I, I, I always add something different in the back and then I have the front like, you see the, the growth dancing, the butterfly and then the music instruments and the piano. So it's, uh, it's, and for the colors, I use the colors, uh, the team colors, you know, the, the four world medicine colors, the blues and the pinks, which is normally the colors that I use in my mirror. So it's not, it was not a big change.

That's okay. It's, it's, it's really, really vibrant and it's just going to look a lot. Well, what was your relationship to football, uh, were you a soccer player? Were you a fan? Yeah. Yeah, since, you know, little kids, we start watching soccer, uh, football and, uh, it's our practice in playing teams and, uh, and Madison, we have, uh, different leagues. So we can play in different leagues and different sports clubs and now. So yeah, yes, you'd something, uh, I was, our number one, uh, sport to play in Mexico. So every kid, every kid plays soccer or football in Mexico and it's something, you know, natural for us that we love to, to do it. And when we find out about, uh, Madison having a professional football team, we're like, oh my god, this is amazing. So the community is very happy to, to have a, a football team and to visit to every game

and to enjoy the team, you know, I guess it's just beautiful for us to have something to celebrate. Yeah. Yeah. Um, Rodrigo, do you have any other art on display around the city going on right now? Yeah, Bob, most, most, most of my murals are in, uh, schools inside the school, but I have some public art. Uh, right now, I have three, three murals and, uh, new, uh, Madison public market. You know, they used to open a few weeks ago and, um, I have two more murals and mononadrive. And I have murals in the university and different libraries around the city. I have like around 50, 50 murals around the city. But, uh, it's only indoor, so it's kind of hard to find them. Yeah, you see them around. And, um, and you mentioned before we started recording, you have a solo show right now in Milwaukee.

Uh, I thought you want to make the drive over or if they're listening in Milwaukee, how do they, how do they see that show? Yeah, the show is in the Latino art gallery. Latino art gallery in the South Side of Milwaukee. Okay. And it's, uh, my first solo show is, it's a good, uh, it's gonna be the, thank you. We're gonna be there till October 9th. Uh, okay. From Friday, from Monday to Friday, uh, eight, eight a.m. to eight a.m. I think it's around those hours and, um, yeah, it's still there till October 9th. All right. So you got a couple weeks to see, uh, Radio Carapia in, uh, first solo show in Milwaukee. Uh, again, it's really, really wonderful. Sure. I love it. Uh, and I'm happy on that and everything and really appreciate your time today. Thank you. Thank you so much for the invitation and, um, and please visit the store to, to see the, the, the, the, the, the shirts and person because there's a lot of videos and, and yeah, I was also, we, uh, I was telling you before about, um, my youngest kid,

just fell in love with your first shirt from two years ago and had the human heart on it. She's like, that's a human heart. I have to have that shirt. And, but, but looking at it and getting at home and like, you still noticing little details on it, weeks later. So, and that's the kind of thing you gotta do. So these will be available Saturday in the, in the team store. And, uh, so yeah, pick one up. Uh, again, thank you so much. Thank you. One more thing, uh, you know, 25% of the, of the, of the sales, um, is donated to our organization, who help students and latino students and the community. So, uh, you know, is when you buy the shirt, uh, you help in students and the city. Um, wonderful. Thank you. Appreciate you, appreciate you adding that. That's really important. Thank you. Thank you. All right. Very good. Thanks a lot. And, uh, we'll see you soon. Thank you. We'll probably. All right. Sounds good. Bye. Okay. Bye. Thanks.

All right. All right. It's going around the league. A lot of games this week. So we will keep them short on Wednesday. Uh, Corpus Christi goes to Greenville. It's a one-deal win. It's Dominic Boxstein with the only goal in this one. I tap in the deer post across from Thomas Pandica. There were two red cards. One for Arthur Medina. Corpus Christi. They got up a second yellow in the 79th. For running into Goldieberg. And then Greenville's Chava Herrera getting sent off in the 90th. For a dog zoo. But if it is 10 on 10, the Corpus Christi gets all three points. Yeah. Omaha defeated Spokane. Three, one in Omaha. Again, which is Omaha Square first. And Spokane go down to 10 men before halftime. And it was finished off by a 93rd minute goal from Gabi Cabral. And Westchester gets a big five, two win of a Richmond, a wild first half in Montvernan. It's Tim Tchenko opening it up with the blistering freak kick.

Then Conor McGlin added a second just two minutes later. McGlin got his second on a penalty in the 34th, Big of three now. Three minutes later Jonathan Hemenas makes it four-neil, lovely soul efforts from him. And then two minutes later, it's Hemenas again to make it five. Richmond did make it interesting for a couple minutes. Squared twice from Neil's Cypher and Tarek Panhalzer. In the first six minutes in the second half, it felt like something might be on. But Westchester locked it down after that and it finishes five to two. Yeah. One Knox was down to 0-2, but stormed back with three goals after the 70th minute to win in Fort Wayne. Fort Wayne opened the scoring in the eighth minute and doubled it in the 39th. But one Knox got a headed goal from Mohamed Diop and equalized off a back heel assist from Dennis Crachenkov to Teddy Baker. And then one Knox secured all three points on a breakaway assist from Crachenkov past Bern Shipman for the win. Wow. Two-neil was the most dangerous lead in sports.

Boise and Charlotte played to a one-one draw. Charlotte was down a man for most of this one. Sega Kulabali managed to get two yellow cards in the first 11 minutes. But Boise were unable to take advantage until Dennis Cosserson headed in a lovely cross from Tom and the Gasso in the 58th. Charlotte responded just four minutes later, renewed Manin, involving a free kick from John Baccaro. And that's how it would end one-one. And then we go to Saturday. Yeah, on Saturday, Westchester won in a New York Dirty. Going down to the 98th minute, it was all squared. But Conor McGlin set a league record for most goals scored by a midfielder, scoring a great goal going around the goalkeeper. Cossumos had a bit of shambolic defending. How do you only have one defender back to defend a Conor attack in the 98th minute? But that's how they chose to play it. McGlin went right around him and scored and took all three points to the north side of actual New York and not. And one that we had our eyes on for short, Omaha beat Knoxville 2-1, Omaha struck first, Diego Guthieres

converted a penalty in the 8th minute. And Knoxville again went down a man, Danny Fernandez, sent off in the 24th for a talk, though. Pretty bad call, I think there were other defenders in the vicinity. And Knoxville had coach Ian Fuller expressed that sentiment to the referee and was also sent off. Even short handed, though Knoxville leveled it in the 49th through John Murphy Jr. The terrific finish for him. They couldn't hold it. Omaha played a short corner. The initial shot was saved in Sergio or Navarro, hammered in the rebound to make it 2-1 and to put Omaha on top of the table. There you go. Fort Wayne stole a point drawing Naples in the 90s second minute at the Rue, their home stadium, Ruef, mortgage, whatever. Ryan Beacher, formally of Omaha, and also the Lillian recalled replacement after Fort Wayne let their top striker leave in the middle of the season. Ryan Beacher scored a winner and Fort Wayne clings to its eighth place spot. It does hold it by four points, but they headed it by about seven or eight at the beginning of the week.

So. And what happened here is a score of the week. Sarah Soda beat in the greenville 6-0. Sarah Soda scored early and often starting with Anderson Rosa. The fourth minute for his seventh goal as the most by a defender in league history. Then it's Brendan Kudra in the 13th to happen in a rebound. Then Roman Gal in the 42nd on a world D from well outside the area. And Soda rode in first half stoppage time, heading in across from Roman Gal. They didn't let up in the second. They got goals from Jonathan Bolognaus in the 54th and a rocket from almost 30 yards. And another from Soda rode in the 59th cheeky little chip to make it 6-0. That was plenty to get all three points. And finally on Sunday. Yeah, Jesus Borrea scored twice for AC Boise, but it was a match by Spokane who got goals through Luis Heal and Derek Waldeck. Both of those teams will be putting pressure on the third place spot as the season comes to a finish. So neither team getting three points is big for the Mingoes.

And we're going to head to this weekend. There are no Wednesday games. I don't think there are any Wednesday games there's the season. I think everybody is I'm not wrong about that. I think everybody all the rest of the games around the weekends on Saturday the matinee at 1 p.m. Charlotte Independence hosting Fort Wayne. Then at four o'clock it's there's Soda Paradise going to Portland. Then our game is at five. It's an early start this we didn't mention that before it's an early start this week at the five o'clock match on Saturday for us. And then at six o'clock it is Naples hosting Chattanooga Greenville hosting Union Omaha Cosmos hosting Richmond Kickers in the battle for the wooden spoon. And then at seven thirty athletic club Boise goes to Corpus Christi and finally on Sunday at six p.m. its Knoxville hosting Westchester. And a stoppage time another in the series of YMLS sucks. We can plan about the referees a lot. I don't know did you hear about this about the MLS next pro? No. Referees at our level are often not great so we complain about them a lot. But imagine one of our coaches.

And it sort of handshakes after the match. Is yelling at the ref after the match is over. Shake in hands. It's a woman ref. We will not let go over hand squeezing her hand until she says three times let go. And then before you let go you say just remember this is a man's game. I would that I would not want that coach on my team. No they gave him a red card for that obviously. But then MLS MLS MLS next pro gave him a two game suspension. And that was it. The that's Federico Eguane for Corpus Crew 2 after their August 23rd match against Honest of the City. He like I said he got a red card in the moment and has already served the two games suspension. The professional soccer referees association put out a statement Saturday saying they should have gotten according to the rules. He should have gotten three games for the squeezing of the hand and three more games for the sexist remark. So it should be only six. But I don't know why PSRA waited until the suspension was already done to say anything. I

feel like they should have spoke up earlier. But I think they're trying to correct I think if I'm a less had an integrity it would ban them for the rest of the season. I think that's just complaining about the reps is one thing it's part of the game. But actually physically intimidating somebody like that after a match. When she's a third division ref also she's learning. You know what I mean? This is unacceptable for him and I can't imagine even our front office early wedding and coaches get away with that. So I mean Matt Glaser got two games for kicking them all away. Yeah. You know I mean which you know he probably deserved. But like MLS is just not a serious lake if you're gonna let coaches get away with that kind of behavior. Yeah. Yeah. All right on that note we are very much looking forward to these last five Saturdays. It's gonna be a wild end of the season. It's gonna be a lot of fun. We had the the I just had the fog was in rare form on Saturday and

we'll continue to be one hopes if those fracas come back that would be great because they were very fun. So we'll see you there on Saturday until then have a great weekend up the goes. Here we go.
