Peaky Blinders New Series: Jamie Bell as Duke Shelby

0:00On April 3, Netflix just dropped big news on the Peakybinders front, with a brand new series jumping ten years ahead from the movie, The Immortal. Man, Jamie Bale steps up as Dubes Shelby, the son of Tommy Shelby, originally played by Silly and Murphy. Barry Kio can have the role in that flick, which hit screens just over a week ago. The cast is stacking up strong, too, with Charlie Heaton from Stranger Things, leading alongside Jessica Brown Finley of Doughten Abbey fame, Lashana. Lynch from No Time to Die, and Lucy Karchewski, making her TV debut after shining in the play Sterephonic. Creator Stephen Knight is hyped, calling it a fresh era set in post-war Birmingham during the early fifties. He says they're lucky to snag Bale for Duke, and Heaton up front, and teases even more cast reveal soon. Bale brings serious cred from Billy Elliott back in 2000, where he snagged the Critics' Choice Award as a kid, plus Rocket Man, Snowpiercer, and Fantastic Four. The original Peakybinders kicked off on BBC2 in 2013, pulling from the real World War I street gang bives.
