Give a little time for the child within you. Don't be afraid to be young and free. On to the locks and throw away the keys and take coffee shoes and sex and run you. It's Jordan Jesse Goh. I'm Jesse Thorne America's radio sweetheart. Jordan Morris, boy detective. Jordan, how come you're not at the Cholo Rap Concert in Pershing Square right now seeing Baby Bash, Frankie J and Lil Rob? Well, because I just, I love our fans too much. I would love to be watching MC Magic Baby Bash, Frankie J, Lil Rob and Amanda Perez in Pershing Square. One of the concerts that's been going on for the past five or six episodes. Yeah. I just, I love our fans would be so disappointed if I didn't show up and give them, give them what they need. No, no, it would be, let me finish. Yeah. To come. They need it. They're going to get all pett up. They're going to be our fans. Our fans, Jordan. Full of juices.

Our fans told me that it would be fine for you to go to the concert because Lil Rob is going to stop by after his set. Oh, okay. To be on the show. To be on the show. He'll fill in for me. No, he's replacing it. Oh, wow. He's going to be a permanent replacement. Jesse, I'm so excited for you. The show is going to be huge. It's going to be incredible. He's going to get a real as about his casual hip hop fan exists. Yeah. I do not recognize these names. Is that Lil Rob there? These are like, these are guys who, baby bash and Lil Rob had minor national hits. But they're basically only famous in the show. Okay. But they are gods. Like, when I went to see a concert that I did not know was a cholo-themed classic soul concert. Are guests here? He's a beloved regular.

Let's get the guest in here. He had stuff to say. I don't want to be presumptuous. This isn't Johnny first-timer. Our guest is one of the stars. He's one of the stars of the show. Stuart fails to save the universe, which if you have not yet seen on HBO Max is absolutely the sequel that Stuart saves his family deserve. We like to think so, yeah. John Ross-Bowell, hi John. Hi, nice to be here. I'm, congratulations on a great run here by the way. Thanks man. Yeah, I'm looking forward to Lil Rob taking over the second half of the interview I'm assuming. Yeah. Not an interview, more of a chat. Okay, great. Yeah, no, I didn't want to put it around for a while. Yeah. Yeah, so I think you had a... I think I'm a Glock Loughlin group. Fantastic. Fantastic. Yeah, I would swing by the thing after I'm done here. The concert in Pershing Square, but you just have one of those nice readers.

Don't feel like running into anybody you know. Yeah, I know. Yeah, that's just where I am right now. And I just kind of want to just hop in my car and head home, I think. I went to see Brenton Wood in Long Beach at the Long Beach Auditorium before he passed away. And he is like a guy who had a couple of national soul hits in the 60s. The Uggum Buggum song is one of them. Uggum Buggum Buggum Buggum Buggum now, baby. And I did not know when I bought tickets to the show that he is an absolute god in the like low rider oldies community. Right. Oh, wow. And so when? What was that parking lot like? It was incredible. Yeah, must have been fucking amazing, right? John Ross Bowie, I'm not fucking with you. I don't think you are. It was unbelievable. I asked a leading question. It must have been insane. Did you get the little bit of a contact high from Airbrush Fu? Yes. Like as soon as I stepped out of the car, I could see that I was surrounded with like families that going from like age eight to age 68

where everyone was wearing a pedal to shirt with only the top button button. Right. And it was incredible. Please tell me you took like a Honda Odyssey there or something like what's the square in my hand? I drove there in my Hyundai. But when during the course of that, to be fair, your Hyundai does have a bounces. It's got some bounce. I was gonna say a topless woman holding a snake airbrush on the hood. That should hope. Barbara Mason was also on the show. I'm trying to remember who else. Who's no parking on the dance floor, Christian? They were great. I can't think of who that is. Oh, no parking on the dance floor. Is that, um, oh, is that a home god? It's not the dash band, but it's in that era. No, it's not the dad's post-dash band. Midnight star. Midnight star. Midnight star. You are. Because it just look like a bunch of people that work at your post office. But also they're all wearing matching outfits and doing choreography. But anyway, baby bash. It was a surprise guest on this show. I'm gonna conservatively call it four hours.

Okay. There was so many acts on this show. Fantastic. It was being the Long Beach Civic Auditorium Big venue. I mean, like, uh, the Long Beach Arena. It's 2000, probably 3000, 4000. That's somewhere in there. And, uh, it was hosted by a DJ who was not qualified to host it. But did a lot of time. Oh, no. I think he was per the promoter. Oh, no. I think he was the promoter. But there was so many acts on it, including like a woman who may very well be it. May very well have been Amanda Perez, who is like a like Gen Z. Chola Low Rider, oldies, soul, cover singer on Instagram and TikTok. Okay. Okay. Okay. Yeah. So she's, and I looked at her. So that's what's taken her video. I can not even try to. Her videos have like a million views on them. Yeah. And it's all just her singing.

I'm ready to learn or whatever. I wanted to do that. But then I found that she was doing it. So now I'm just complaining about Star Wars. Yeah. Oh, all right. Oh, great. Oh, by all means, good work. Yeah. Yeah. Finally, voice to the voice. Thank you. Yeah. And when they brought baby bash on to do one song, maybe two songs. Right. Uh, the joint melted. Yeah. And they just walked down, melted down. And you're just like the like squareness with which you are hitting the demo. Like they just know exactly who, I mean, like this show, none of these, you know, we just, last week was too short. Right. Like none of these people are famous people, you know what I mean? Like I said, baby bash and low rob minor national hits, maybe Frankie J had a hit. But like in person square, these people are heroes. Well, it's the greatest musicians of all time. It's, it's that, oh, it's the, the constant artistic dilemma of you want to be something for

everything, everyone or everything to someone, you know, and, and these guys have, have done their thing. John Russ Bally, I have a question. I have a follow up question about that. Yeah. Would you consider your current television program to be the weirdest regular television show or the regularest weird television show? That's a really, really good question that somehow has not been posed to me yet on this entire press tour. I think it's the weirdest regular show because we come, you know, we have fairly mainstream DNA, you know, it's a Chuck Laurie show. It is a spin off of an enormous hit sitcom that ran for 12 years. It's also sometimes you say mother fucker on it. Yeah, but there's those little turns there. Yeah. So we have the Liberty of being on HBO Max so we can curse and shed blood. It has a very interesting aesthetic that combines prestige television and audience sitcom. There's no audience, but it is really sits in a halfway point between the two. It really does.

And I honestly can't, and this is going to sound like I'm tuning my own horn, but I'm not. I'm viewing this as a, as a student of the medium. I can't think of another time that has been off his gone this far off the fucking rail. I really can't, you know, I really can't summon a time. Not even the tortellies. The tortellies. Well, there was that Frazier where there was the misunderstanding about the dinner party. There was too. You guys, that I was like, are they going this? They, okay, yes. What were they smoking in the writers? That was something else. Yeah, that was, that was when that was the Kelsey grammar, Iowaska period. But I, I, no, but I really can't like, I don't know if you're old enough for this reference, Lou Grant. That's one of the characters, of course, from televisions, the Mary Tyler Moore show, who got a spin off of his own that was no longer a multi-cam live audience sitcom. It was a single cam one hour drama. Okay, sure, that makes perfect sense. And he was running instead of a news department, he was running a newspaper.

Okay. And that was the, so it was like an hour long sort of quasi-bripped from the headlines thing that ran for a couple seasons there. Is that Ed Asner? It is Ed Asner, yes. Did you think that was just Ed Asner? Was like, I'll do it, but... It might have been. I'll do it, but under these very specific circumstances, it might have been that. Yeah. But what we're doing over on the Stewart show is, I mean, when you try to explain it to people who don't watch Big Bang, but you try to frame it in terms of friends. And you're just like, okay, Gunter and Janice go fight dragons. Yeah. And that's kind of what we're up to. And yeah, it is the weirdest regular TV show. My wife turned to me. We watched the second episode this evening to get with the buzzers in the back of the neck. Yeah, watch the first episode with my daughter, second episode with my wife. My wife turned to me and she said, so what was that? Excellent. Great. She said, those are from those, were they on the Big Bang Theory?

We were. Yeah, Peripher, you know, sort of on the periphery, but we were, yeah. Yeah, it's, it's... It's real funny, by the way. I'm glad to hear that. You know what I know before you came, we're talking about how great it is that it's funny. Yep. Sometimes we talk about how much what our guest is coming into plug sucks. I, that must happen. In your position, I don't see how you would not. No, we weren't genuinely talking about how funny it is. I think it has three things that I think TV viewers might be missing. The big three. Number one. The big thing. Funny comedy performers being funny. Like trained comedy people, like, you know, sitcom people, you know, Brian Post, saying it's on this thing, Lauren. Lapkiss is on this thing. Brian Post has been killing it on sitcoms for 30 years. Yes. And I think this is the show that best understands what to give Brian Post saying to say that will be funny or coming from Brian Post saying that it could be from anyone ever. With all apologies to just shoot me, which also did a good job using Brian Post.

Of course. He's, he's great as an office weirdo, but if you dimensionalize him a little bit, he, there's a lot there. Yeah. There is a lot there and he's been a delight. I've known him for years. If you just get to watch him run. Just watching Brian Post saying run is great. It's a good time. That's something we haven't gotten to see before. No, none of us ran on the old show. No. There was no running on the old show. Not a lot of room to run. Not a lot of room to run. Actually, you know what, I beg your pardon. There was one pre-shoot we did where we're sheldon and I have to attempt to play basketball, but that was the most running I did in 12 seasons. And laugh all you want. It's the truth. And I, on this show, on the new show, I, I have run more, I got all my cardio in on the first two episodes. It was insane. Yeah, it's, it's very kind of action packed considering it's, you know, based on a guy who usually writes, you know, sitcoms that are built around a couch. Sure. Yeah. Allison Janney sitcom mom.

Yeah. Yeah. Great couch. Okay, so this show has actually funny people appreciate that very much. Lauren Lapkiss is a nice show. Yeah, definitely. Kevin Susman. Yeah. It has great classic sturdy sitcom set up punchline jokes as jokes. Jokes. Jokes. Joke, every other line is a joke in this thing. Yeah. Pretty heavy. And three. Good jokes too. Specific references to Pasadena. Specific references to the geography of Pasadena and the surrounding area. I think for appreciating that. Yeah. Surrounding areas is the part that I think a lot of people have been missing because I think we've heard Pasadena jokes on a lot of networks that come. Kind of a funny sounding word in some way. It is, especially because we're all we're, it's probably Pasadena. Pasadena. We're probably pronouncing it in a very regular size. It's cataloging and it's half a demon. Yeah, right. So, so given that it's probably it's just a great sounding word anyway. We haven't heard before our mon-mon-mon-rovia.

It was going to say mon-rovia. The mon-rovia moment was great. Can I jump in with Lachanyata Flint Ridge? Yeah. Yeah. No, wait, now granted. Jordan and I have been doing Lachanyata Flint Ridge material for some time now. Yeah. This is on on a big streamer. We're not on a big streamer, you know. We've had offers, but we've turned it on. We're going pretty mainstream with that. There's an entire shout out to the the the San Gabriel Valley writ large in our first episode. Yeah, it's it's fun. There's a couple of moments that are very L.A. specific L.A. County specific that I am delighted by because you know the show moves quickly enough that you know they're they happen and they're gone. But there's a Thomas guide joke in our first episode where they're back to using the Thomas guide because the apocalypse has happened in nobody SGPS. And if you lived in L.A. 20 plus years ago, the Thomas guide was how we got around. It's how we it was this enormous like phone book that I have like 18 months of Thomas guide when I moved to Los Angeles.

Jordan, you had a Thomas guide life when you were a yes. So that's my first job when I moved to L.A. as I was a PA and you had to like say in your interview, I own a Thomas guide. Yeah, I have to buy me one. And I remember the first time the Thomas guide started coming with a CD ROM. Oh my God, that's right. That was them going like the Thomas guide has entered the future. Oh my God. Yeah, and you had certain pages. Yes, but there were certain pages that that were basically torn out because they were they were this one tour casting office out on the west side. Yeah, yeah, it's a very L.A. thing. And they apparently used to give them his rap gifts back in the day. Like it was a really popular rap gift. You'd get a Thomas guide with your show's logo on. Like if you had a freezer Thomas guide, you would I mean that I bet you could find those on eBay. And I would I would price them. Would I buy them? I might price them. Chris, could we go on eBay right now and find me a good Herman's head Thomas guide? Jordan, can I mention something regarding us being on streamers? Uh-huh. Remind me after this show, I'll show you the offer we got from Acorn. Okay. It's probably my pitch perfect British accent that got us that offer.

It alerts me. I like to be on Acorn. I'm an unusual detective. I am. I'm also a veterinarian. I am a pesca pun in the sleep all the little quack we do. Oh, the quack. Where? Warm off to a bar, shaman teaks on I. Yes. I am by the way, I want you guys to have six seasons of this for a total of 12 episodes. Yes. And one longest running British TV show. It was misspecial. And one Christmas special, exactly. I want the absolute best for this veterinary detective. Thank you John. And we for your little show and we for your little show. John, what's the doing the show? Because yes, same character, but very different context. What's the most like sci-fi action star thing you've gotten to do filming this? The one that just streamed this past week, I had my first mocap scene. I did a full mocap.

The ball suit and everything. The ball suit, the camera in front of me and everything. You might be the first guy I have ever met who wore the ball suit. What a throw for me. I got to wear the ball suit. I bet you know people who've done mocap for video games. I know you. I bet you. Yeah. It's calling you a nerd. I'm calling you a fucking nerd. Come closer. I'll break your glasses. Sure. But I got you some wirework. Okay. I got to do some wirework where I am plunged 23 feet through this void, which was really intense. Because you're surrounded. You know, it's universal. You're not on some weird little like hinky indie movie. You're on like a big, you know, big set, big sound stage. Everyone's a consummate professional. You know academically that you're totally safe. You've got a master's degree in that. And you're, but you, you, you, when you start falling and they want you to look like you're really free falling.

It's really hard not to just take account of your life and just really taste your mortality a little bit. And there was a few moments where I was being plummeted on various takes being plummeted towards the ground. The ground is just rushing up towards me where I was like they are going to dedicate the sepus hood to me. That'll be, uh, that'll be it. Um, this was a good run. And, uh, what a way to go, huh? Doing what I love. Um, so yeah, there's been all sorts of this. We're in a plum plummeting. Yeah. Um, there's been some green screen work. There's, um, I, I was, um, very close to some actual pyro. Um, it's been every, honestly, every week has had some sort of like. Bit of bad assery that like I never thought I was going to get you doing my career. Right. The thing that I noticed in the second episode that I watched while I was eating supper, which as you mentioned involved the premise that everyone lives each, each episode of the show, you go to a new universe, a new parallel universe with its own sci-fi rules and sort of like a star Trek planet.

But it's a, it's a parallel universe. Yep. And, uh, one of these is, uh, there's like a little thing at the base of the neck, at the, at the, at the base of the brain, a little green light. And if you are disagreeable or angry, you get electrocuted or zapped. Yes. And your character gets zapped over the course of one episode of television. I'm going to say 14 times. It's around 10. Uh-huh. And that's, by the way, that's not counting all the takes that weren't used, obviously. But in terms of the story, I get zapped about 10 times. And yeah, it was, um, a lot of falling to falling on the mat that was just off screen. It was a very, again, it's a very physical job. Did they, what I was going to ask you is, do they go down to the Elysian theater, find a John Ross Bawi-sized contemporary clown, and then, uh, do all the behind the headshots with the clown? I will say this. If it's a lawn shot and you see me falling on a hard surface, that is my stuntman, Chris Patton.

He's got a stuntman, Jordan. Which is crazy. Um, but all the close-up stuff, that's, that's me at my most, uh, at my most clownish. Wow. That is all the, all the, a lot of that stuff is, is John just clowning it up pretty hardcore. I mean, that's good. Chris Patton got a shout out though, because Chris Patton jumps from car to car in Fury Road. He's an Australian guy. Oh, wow. And he does some of that in that big chase at the beginning. And I found the, I found the scene and I got it on my rear. And he has, yes, he has, he has really, uh, really upped his game having gone from one of the finest pieces of cinema of the 21st century to being my stuntman. Chris, if you're watching, I love you. Um, but, uh, yeah, it was, um, we're big in the stuntman community. So probably is. I used to probably watching, right? Um, the, uh, but no, the close, the close up, uh, shocking. That is, that is me at my, at my most clownish. Uh, and I worked with the stunt coordinator to figure out like, okay, what does it look like when you get electrocuted? What do I look like when I'm being electrocuted? How will my electrocutions look different from the other cast members?

We age sort of distinguished ourselves. Um, uh, there was process. Jesse, there was process. You have to have an actor's secret when you're getting electrocuted. Exactly. What's your secret that not everybody knows? Ow, what? This hurts. Yeah, this is in my spine. Um, the like promo stuff for this show has been read. You guys are on like all these DC comics, like drawn by Jim Lee and stuff. Fucking crazy wild. Isn't that crazy? Yeah. So they, they did a one off for, um, basically a comic version of our first episode that they gave away at, uh, Comic Con. And signed copies are now going to go. That's the one. Yeah. Um, and Raleigh, Raleigh Comic Con. Yeah, we're all the big announce. Starts mall. And most of the announcements have an adurham comic. Oh, yeah. Um, I, uh, listen, I can't get into these mid Atlantic turf wars. Um, uh, but then, and we thought, guys, I gotta go to Robe with comic. A lot of research scientists are gonna come for you. Oh, if it's, if it's, uh, if it's Monday, it's must be Roanoke.

Um, we, so that was cool enough. Like Jim Lee did the cover for this incredible issue. We're looking at it on screen. No, this is a different one. These are the ones for the, for some DC variants that are coming at the end of August. So that's a bunch of the Justice League looking at us at the Comic Con panel. Is that not the most meta god damn thing rules? Isn't that crazy? There's a, there's one where I'm having Chinese food with Batman. Do you get all of these? Are you having to like track these down on eBay? Oh, um, these I'm gonna have to go by. There's the one where I'm, I'm sharing Chinese food with Batman. And we look annoyed with each other. Yeah. I don't like rich people class war. Um, but, um, yeah, no Batman secret identity. Our friend, our friend, NATO Green has a new special out called the darkest hour. And, uh, he divides all of America into the left wing of the left wing and so on and so forth. He puts Batman in the right wing of the right wing. Oh, he says. He said, he said, he's a millionaire vigilante. Where else is he gonna fall politically?

His joke is that he said, he said, he said, he said, he's a billionaire who punches the product of his own greed. So wow. Good lord. I think that's socially, socially liberal. Maybe so. He's gonna be conservative. So then they're prone with the game. Sure. Doesn't have a big thing with the game. He's okay with legal weed. Yeah. Um, but yeah, so it's really kind of exceeded all of my expectations. Um, this rollout has been insane. And it's all kind of like, it's sort of appropriate for the show's fan base. You know, it feels like, oh, this is something will actually be enjoyed. So I have the Jim Lee cover. I have it signed by Jim Lee. Oh, cool. Which is pretty awesome. But I'm gonna have just, I think I'm gonna just go get these, uh, at my local. Did Jim Lee give you any like guns on your calves or anything? Any miscellaneous straps? Again, you see, I'm in, I'm in lawn pants all the time. Yeah. You know, which is shame because my calves are not embarrassing. They're not bad. I mean, from here, I can see they look, they look nice.

Yeah, that's some definition. There's a little bit of definition there. What now we, short talk has been something we've done a lot of on the show recently. Sure. Why no shorts, John. Um, and you have it, you have the calves for what our friend Jimmy Parto would call the at-home listener. It was 95 degrees today here in Los Angeles. And even in this studio at nighttime, it's probably 80. It's a really good question. Do I regret not wearing shorts? Absolutely. I should have. I absolutely should have put on shorts. But you know what? I always get a little self-conscious about how I'm going to dress in front of Jesse. I'm not going to lie to you. Sure. I always get just ever so slightly self-conscious. You don't want to get red. You don't want to get red on podcast. I would hate to get red on the podcast. Yeah. Um, uh, even though he is dressed right now like he's going to sell me skunk weed, I, I still feel like I should up my Sartorial game. Do you not want to hack the sack? I don't want to hack the sack. And I, I have a class in three minutes, so I can't join your drum circle. Oh, got it.

I was, did you see this picture of John Ross Bowie that, uh, with these pictures of John Ross Bowie that he posted on his social media the other day that were, uh, him as a like 15 year old in T-shirts for various still cool bands? No. Um, I posted this on Friday. Um, it is on my Instagram, uh, a friend from camp sent me three photos, only one of which I had ever seen, which is mind blowing, right? Because we're so well, our kids are so well documented now. You know, you think of like how like our kids have seen every picture that exists of themselves. But for us, they're still an area of mystery, you know, because these were pictures that were taken at camp, then taken home and then developed by whoever took them. Right. The one picture that you had seen was the one of the service member and the woman kissing on VJ day. That was, and I'm in the background. I'm right behind that guy. Yeah. Um, but it is a, um, it's a doozy of a photo. It actually is over three different years.

I'm 14, 15 and 16 in those photos. And the shirts are in order. Ramones, cure bad brains. Cool. I mean, you got a hand at this guy. I mean, it's pretty, it's, it's pretty badass. And, um, you also, I'm going to say in the pictures, appear to have an adult head on a child's body. Yes. You're not the first person to point that out. Yes. I, I don't all of, I have those pictures, but it's all cherry pop and daddy. So, yeah. Oh, that's, oh, wow. Christian is a punch. But Christian is wearing a t-shirt that he bought at Hot Topic today. It's a day at City Wall. It says nine-inch nails. Yes. So it does. Have you seen them live? I trust. Okay. Um, I do try to have, although I will say this, when I, the picture of me with the Ramones shirt, I hadn't seen the Ramones live yet. Um, at 14, you hadn't seen the Ramones. I had not seen the Ramones. I was a fan of it. You'd seen D.D. Ramones rap act. I, it was, I, I hate to say that at 14, I'm, that's before D.D. King.

I'll have you now. Can we just stop everything from when I talk about the fact that like all over radio and TV for like six months, there was a band called Cherry Pop and Daddy's. Yeah. Can we like just pause and their light hearted hit song is about tribute to a famous race war. Yeah. That was their, their big banger of, of, of, was about the, the actual Zoot Suit riots, which Google them, um, clear channel radio approved both those things. All of it, just said fine. You know what? Go ahead. But have you guys seen them live? I, I, you guys seen them live. No, but you have Jordan. Go ahead. Oh, I mean, it's a totally different experience. Okay. All right. Cherry Pop and Cherry daddy. Daddy's daddy's. They just seem like cool chill guys to me. Run a comb through your cold black hair. Yes. There was a, there was like a summer of the daddy bands. That was what were the other daddy bands. Big bad food. Big bad food daddy. That's right. Maybe was just the two. Maybe it was there another daddy band daddy Yankee.

Daddy Yankee of course when, uh, when the swing Revival morphed into regga tone. Uh, it's saying you know, you can understand how it would do that. Sure. Maybe it was two prominent daddy bands. We had a smaller swing revival in New York where I was living at the time. Uh, and none of those bands broke national. Um, and it was also a big overlap with the, uh, the rock ability scene. Yes. But it wasn't as big in New York as it was out here in L.A. And like you couldn't have really made swingers in New York. That's such an L.A. Right. Time capsule. I remember seeing a band called the Blues Jumpers that did a pretty credible mini the moocher as a closer. Okay. And I was like, this is fun. I used to go to a, when I was in college went to a lot of rap concerts. And in Santa Cruz, you would get real solid headliners for the size of venue and town that it was because it was part way, it's far enough from San Francisco that you're not breaking

your contract with your San Francisco promoter to do a show there and north enough of L.A. That same exactly. So it's sort of halfway in between. So, and it's, you know, and killer college town too. Exactly. And also it, because I went to Ithaca and we've, I think we've talked about the comparisons between those two towns. Ithaca is Santa Cruz city, whether it is, um, but it's a very similar vibe. It's a very like it's, like the, like the college is the town's economy on a big, and also there's Cornell across town. So we would get fairly enormous bands as well come through and play like the local bar. Yeah. So we would be like, well, I mean, the one, the one in genuinely enormous band that would play who I can't say I ever did see is Smash Mouth, but that was because they are from San Jose. Okay. So it was just over the hill. Right. You know, it would be by some black eyed peas and, uh, common and flib quality and the roots and so on and so on.

You're in college like late 90s early, uh, early, uh, early, uh, early, uh, early, uh, early, uh, yeah, into the 90s or yeah, 99 is when we, when I matriculated. And but the thing is, terrible word, these bands, the bands on quantum projects, your black, delicious, and laterxes and stuff, they would tour together. So they would, you know, some combination of them would be, would be opening and some combination of them would be headlining and just switch around at different times. Got it. But most of these acts were not touring with openers. So you would just get an act that had been booked in Santa Cruz. Oh no. And mostly it was a band called the B side players who, uh, I think still exist and are just like a band that plays war songs. You know, right. I got it. And like, uh, perfectly competent, et cetera. But then once in a while you would see like there was a band called a hip hop group called Blood of Abraham, who had been an art slash discovered by I'm going to say easy e, but

their hook was that they were like paranoid apocalyptic Jews. Like, uh, big beards like House of David, like full outfits. And they, I remember their album was called I Dollar Tree, uh, EY E because it, and it was an illuminati eye. I should hope so. In a cell phone tower disguised as a tree. Fuck yes, it was. Um, oh, you're just checking a bunch of fun boxes there. But what's interesting about that is that guys like that usually are the first to blame the Jews when you get into the guys who are, you know, uh, you know, going after the cell phones and, and, and they're usually the first people who are like, you know, well, the Jews made COVID and like that's, it's interesting that they were actually Jewish, right? Right. I find that oddly soothing. I'll say it. Yeah. And then there was I did see a swing rapper and fuck if I can remember what a Christian do some research.

Find this swing rapper. It was like a big brass section. He had a DJ. I mean, like, but the, but the all the, all the tracks were samples of like, you know, Pennsylvania, six, five thousand or whatever, uh, take the A train. And then he wrapped over somebody's finally wrapping over pennies from heaven. Yeah. He was a white guy. Okay. Um, and he wore the outfit, the swing outfit. Sure. Um, and he wrapped on top of the big, big loops. I mean, like big loops of famous big band songs. Okay. Wow. Um, I think swing was a swing was a pivot for a lot of people. I don't know that like one of the big LA swing bands when it was happening was Royal Crown Review. Yeah. Yeah. That was a youth brigade. That was like the guys from youth brigade, which is like a Stern brothers. Yes. No kidding. Both Stern brothers are in that band. I have to get a band out. I have to get my band out.

I have to stop it. Um, uh, Daniel and Howard. Fuck off. So yeah, and I think about that a lot of scop ends were like. Uh oh, uh, uh. Somebody else has a horn section. Oh shit. Yeah. It really was like the last gasp. The late 90s were the last gasp of eclecticism on top 40 radio, you know, I mean like because the 80s were known for the 80s. You know. It is flawed. As, as they were, top 40 radio at the time was like, here's a minute work. Here's quiet. Here's Jam on it by Nucleus, and that was literally like the morning drive. And it was amazing. It was so goddamn, you know, musical youth had a hit, madness had a hit. By the time we were in college in the early 2000s, it was only Nucleus, Jam on it by Nucleus. It was just always Jam on it by Nucleus. You wish. Once in a while, at holidays, they would play Haunted House of Rock by Houdini. Okay. But nobody, you know what I mean? Like there was a sense of like, in the late 90s,

you had a Scroonuts Ippers, had a hit, which was really, you know, and they're not quite swing, but they're using similar recording devices, you know. Part of it is part of it, I let me ask you this, is part of it that in the post-grunge era. Yeah. So like after the, you know, the Pearl Jam is crested, but you know, as I guess Green Day is emerging and stuff, you know, is it possible that there was like a room that had been opened up for shit that was soft, but they had not figured out what that could be. White people being Pussies was available. Right. But they haven't, hadn't quite figured out how to define that all the way down to the Dave Matthews' and Jack Johnson's. Okay. So I think you're really close. I think, and I could absolutely talk about this for hours, because it is fascinating, like what breaks when, in terms of music. I think it's even more cynical than that. Okay. I think there's a sense of when Nirvana broke

and they were on, you know, that, that album never mind is a co-release with Subpop and DGC. Like David Geffen and Jonathan Pohnman had to like have a phone call for that album to come out. And I think there was a sense kind of like Hollywood in the early 70s of like, fuck it. I don't know what works anymore, try anything. And that's how you ended up with, you know, helmet releasing records around the same time as the Skrownut Zippers and both of them getting a little bit of MTV play. I think there was a real, let's just throw everything at the wall and see what sticks kind of thing. Matt Pinfield can talk about it all. You know, really, that is kind of the case, you know, and it is, it was fascinating. It was a brief shiny moment. And then I, you know, I don't know what to, I guess you blame downloads after that. After downloads, you could absolutely track what people were listening to more. Like a sugar ray and a third eye blind, just kind of like defined the aesthetic of soft pop rock. And then you couldn't miss. Smash mouth is in there too. Certainly, a matchbox 20 will go in there as well.

But there's still a little more variety in the late 90s because you've got no doubts doing their thing. And again, the Ben Folds breaks around that time. Ben Folds brick, that's what, 97 and 88, somewhere in there. I don't know, it was a very, it was a very eclectic feeding ground. I think if you were an indie artist, you had a chance to break through and do something else at that time. It's kind of fascinating. What kind of T-shirt were you wearing when you were 14? I told you, cherry pop and daddy's. I have no doubt. Yeah. Do you have a cherry pop and daddy's T-shirt literally? No, did I, I had to have. Yeah, I think if you got my three John Ross Bally photos for you have the cure, Ramones and bad brains and bad brains, and bad brains. Mine probably are cherry pop and daddy's real big fish in the aquabats. Okay. You're okay. And nothing you can listen. Sounds like a good time to me. Yeah, that's a great bill. You like a horn section. Thank you. You guys are being very sweet.

You guys are being very sweet. I love a horn section. Sure. You all love a horn section. But yes. What was the first hip hop show you ever saw? Gosh, I don't know. The first show I ever saw was Aerosmith. And I didn't go to that because I liked Aerosmith. I went to it because my friend Gabe loved Aerosmith and he had two tickets for kids and one for his dad. Okay. So he invited me and I went and I did not really understand it. Okay. It really Aerosmith, when I was 13, hit real different without babes on MTV. They had really figured out that to make it work, they should instead of showing their old ghoul bodies. Right. They should show their sexy children. Aerosmith was like kind of a confusing thing. You're like, how old is this band? When you're 12 or 13, you're like, how long have these guys been around? Anyone, they're amazing. They're amazing. They've been in the 90s.

They looked like five pieces of beef jerky wearing scarves. Sure. Even then. Yeah. And they had had that weird hip hop inspired revival. Oh, yeah. You know, we're both bands broke a little while, but Aerosmith was able to sustain the revival more than Rundy MC. I definitely, I saw, I saw a Rundy MC when I was in high school. I saw a bill that was Rundy MC, the Sugar Hill gang in Houdini. I saw Rundy MC with EPMD opening up in college. So this is like 91.92 and at Ithaca, but they show started very late because they actually went to Utica, which is a good two hours away from Ithaca. But only a couple of letters away. So what are you gonna do? Sure. Did they like come on stage and be like, sorry guys. No, they did not. No, they just came on and did a really good show. Let it be said, a really, really fun show. Was there a Utica, Ithaca rivalry? Is that one of those things? Like, oh, we hate that other one. I mean, sort of, I didn't really, we were division three football.

I can't even name, I don't even know if there's a SUNY in Utica. I don't know. There should not be division three football, by the way. That is a bad thing to do for no benefit. Well, listen, you get a chance of getting a concussion and then coaching another division three school eventually. Yeah, that's a good point. That's kind of where you level off there. The thing that I remember most about that, old school concert that I went to, because they were all old by the time. Sure. This was like, you know, 91.92, that's the end of Rundy MC being a mainstream force, but they're still a mainstream force. Right. I remember, you know, I knew the freaks come out at night. Yeah. The freaks come out at night as has been discussed on this program. One of my favorite songs when I was in preschool. One of the, it was that time after time and jump for you love by the pointer sisters, where my big three, that I can remember. Time after time, Sydney Loper. Yes.

From like six and under, those are the big three. Okay. So I knew who Houdini were and stuff. Right. But what I was not prepared for was the fucking title wave of pussy juice when they hit the stage. Oh wow. Women losing their fucking minds. Wow. And needless to say, the sugar and so delicately phrased, Jesse, let me say. Well, sugar, healed with words, my friend. So sugar, healed gang went on first. Okay. And in 1978, that was just three guys that the lady who ran the label knew that worked at a pizza rear near her house. Yeah. And so by the time it's the year 1998 or whenever it was on the saw this show, they're still the three guys who worked at the pizza place. Yeah. In fact, they still work at the pizza place. Right. I've returned to work at the pizza place. I've understood. Yeah. And so that was, I mean, but you know, who's going to complain when somebody's doing rappers to like? No way. It's going to be a great time. Yeah.

Hip hop to the hop. They do the 12 inch mix. It lasts for 15 minutes. I'm in. Then who Deany came on? They're wearing their leather. They're wearing their leather hats. Uh-huh. And the place, it was an outdoor concert venue. It was at the at the at the Greek in Berkeley. Okay. And it was like fucking tearing off their shirts. No shit screaming and crying. And these women must have been, I mean, they seem very old to me, but maybe they were only 30 or 30. They might have only been like 35. I have terrible news for these. Those old women were probably only around 35. Those were my mom. Yeah. But like truly, who Deany went on? And like by that time, like much more so than, like, Rundy MC were such a huge cultural force. When Rundy MC went on, they were a big deal because they were still a big deal. Right. They still were in like TV commercials and like, you know, whatever.

And they were also never coasting on sex appeal. Exactly. Yeah. With all due respect, they were adorable, but they were never coasting on sex appeal. Those guys. Right. And so like I understood what Rundy MC meant in a way that I didn't with Houdini. And Houdini fucking came out. Yeah. In there, I mean, Christian is showing his pictures of them in red leather shirts. Uh-huh. And it was like the only hornyness I've ever experienced that matched it probably was DeAngelo and the Voodoo tour. Oh, that was supposed to be a thing. And I want to be clear. It was greater hornyness than when I saw Usher right, right before, right as confessions came out when he was about to become at like $12 million seller. $12 million copy seller. Uh, like that was very horny. Yeah. Not as horny as when Houdini MC was like. It's funny. I often give LL the bulk of the credit for bringing sexy to hip hop because he took a shirt off on that second record when he's promoting bigger and defer

record that I genuinely adore. Any ladies love him. Ladies love him. It's right there. And I always think of him as like the guy who was like, oh, you know, hip hop doesn't have a sex symbol yet allow me to take off my shirt and correct that. But I don't give Houdini who predate LL a little bit. Year maybe, year or two. Yeah, that seems right. I don't give them the credit. I think they deserve. Are they friends? How many of us do have them? Yeah. That's them right? Yeah. Yeah. And the freaks come out at night. I don't know that obviously, but I wasn't sure about friends. How many of us have them? Now, I would love to keep chatting. I am worried that we will cause a title wave of pussy juice. Wait, Jordan, I would love to see what it is. Before we go to the break, what's the hornyest concert you've ever been to? Well, it's okay. Horny is concerts. I, we had a, there was an outdoor venue around where I grew up in Orange County that we learned how to sneak into. Oh, nice. It was the Irvine Meadows Ampitheater. Oh, yeah. Then it was the Verizon Ampitheater. Yeah. It's still there, isn't it?

But we would, yeah, we would, you know, we would go in the parking lot when no one was there like the morning before the concert. We would hike up to where the fence was, and we would cut a hole in the fence if there wasn't one already. We would find the holes and fix them. Right. But we would, and then we would just go to see whatever, because, you know, we were teenagers and it was free. Fantastic. We snuck into Barry Manelow, thought that was real funny, a real funny thing to do. But yeah, when he played Copa Cabana, it like the, the shrieks, the, yeah, the shrieks that came up were, I still remember them. Yeah, and that was, and I think to me, I'm like, oh, these old women are horny. But yeah, they were probably like, they were maybe like 45, 50. Yeah, at that point for Barry, for Barry, they might have been actually kind of old. But I mean, you were like 19, so you, you got some of that, right? Oh, yeah. You closed some of that. No, guys, I did not. I tried. Oh, oh, oh, oh, I tried.

Okay, we're gonna say we're not going to come back. We're gonna hear about John Ross Bowie's horneiest concert. We'll be back in just a second on Jordan Jessica. Love me, love me, love me, love me, love me, love me, love me, love me, love me, love me, love me, love me, love me, love me, love me, love me, love me. Hello, I'm John O. Roberts, and I host the SoundTeap, and I'm here with Max Fun, member of the month, Ryan Adams. Thank you so much, Ryan, for being a listener and supporter of our show, and congratulations on being this month's member of the month. Hi there! If you were recommending SoundT to a new listener, how would you entice them to the show? I'm making notes on this, by the way. You have all sorts of podcasts and different topics or whatever out there. And you have a lot of fictional ones. It's a podcast, but it's not really a podcast, but it's, I'm not describing it very well. No, you're describing it almost as well as anybody could. It's a podcast, but it's not really a podcast, but it's also an infinite number of podcasts. That's what I would. That's how I'd put it.

What would you say to other people who are considering supporting the show? If you like podcasts at all, and you like humor, supporting, sound heap is a good choice. Is that anything else you'd like to add? Support Max from Fun and SoundHap. God, that's perfect. That's absolutely perfect. Support the shows you love, including this one. Check the show notes for a link or go to maximumfun.org slash join. It's Jordan Jesse go. I am Jesse Thorne America's radio sweetheart. Jordan Morris boy detective John Ross Valley eager participant. John, what is the horniest concert you've ever been to? I had the entire break to think about it and it's tough. I saw Morris see it. The Hollywood Bowl a few years back. Pre pandemic. He did not cancel. He finished the evening or reasonable question, Jordan.

But I he didn't have to cancel. No one met his gaze. But he opened his shirt and he didn't smell a hamburger before he went in. So he was fine. Yeah. When he took off his shirt, things went pretty, pretty apeshit there. I would see a cover band where the lead singer is known as the Mexican Morrissey. Is that sweet tender hooligan? Yeah, yeah. Tom Lennon is in the face. Tom Lennon plays guitar. Yeah. Tom Lennon invested in a Johnny Mar guitar. Really? And like a Johnny Mar signature. I can't remember what kind of a Gibson I think. But he invested in in like the kind of guitar Johnny Mar plays. It's a great investment. Beanie Babies level investment. And yeah, that was that was a wild night. And the coolness at that was he like had a just a bouquet of roses and was hurling them at women overhand fastball. I gotta see those guys. I bet that's a funny evening.

Yeah. Joe Escalante from The Vandals. Yeah. I mean, you got to figure what better setup could there be for a cover band than to be covering music that remains really essential to people's lives and identities. To be able to reflect their identities better than the guy who sang the songs originally. Yeah. And to have the guy who sang the songs originally become just problematic enough that you wouldn't want to support him. But not so problematic that you couldn't go see a cover band singing his songs. It's a it is a really impressive needle to thread and they have done so. I salute them. Yeah. I'm going to go check those guys out. Yeah, because those songs are great. I love smash material, man. Queen is dead is a perfect fucking album. You be shocked to learn this a 55 year old white guy who feels that way. But I really am incredibly fond of that record. So yeah, the Morris you show was pretty horny. I saw LL one time that got pretty horny because he's still in great shape.

He looks terrific. He's taking care of himself. God bless him. Was this recent pretty pre pandemic, but like eight, nine years ago. Does he does he play the theme song from Deep Blue Sea? Deep is close. No, no, I had it like a shot. He does and it's a drag. My head is like a shark's fin is a line from I'm bad. I know he repurposed it later, but it's it's original appearance is on is on the single I'm bad from the the bigger and deffer record. I did not know that. Yeah, yeah. Deep Blue Sea, which as we all know is actually called the smart shark movie. Right. Deep Blue Sea is a Terrence Radigan play. The smart shark movies what we're talking about with the greatest jump scare death in the history. I was talking about the Terrence Radigan play. Is his song Deep Blue Sea not from the play? No, I'm sorry. I don't know. It's not about. Yeah. It's not actually about post war malaise in Britain. No. You know how in the 90s plays would have a rap song about the plot over the credit. Particularly British plays.

Particularly British plays. Yes. So that was pretty horny and then on you know on you know for me. You know when I saw the go goes my first concert was the go goes in 1984 and I was that was pretty horny for me. I mean good lord. The go goes all like hovering around 26 and I'm a 14 year old boy entering puberty like a freight train. That was Jane Weedlin. Come on. Yeah. Well, I mean, you know, a couple of years separate us, but she I think she hit Jesse and I pretty hard as Joan of Arc and Bill and Ted. Of course. Yeah. Of course. Maybe the boxiest anyone's ever been on camera. I almost had a meltdown not that long ago from from my own hornyness at a concert when I were to see Eric Abadu. Oh, yeah. I'm sorry. Eric Abadu. I'm like, uh oh. I'm crazy horny for Eric Abadu. Is this what middle ages? I guess so. Yeah. Well, we could do worse. Um, yeah. We all should be horny for a doula. We absolutely should she do. She's a doula. Yeah. That's fantastic.

Yeah. She sells t-shirts that says I let's say I shoved a crystal up my snatch at the Eric Abadu concert and all I got was this last e t-shirt. What which size did you buy? I know, right? Oh. Okay. We I have in the break. I have identified the swing. Oh, great. Rapper. Amazing. Who I saw live in concert in Santa Cruz, California. And not only did he put out an entire LP on a major label, he had a song on the soundtrack of the movie go. Wow. Oh, that's a fun soundtrack though. It is. Yeah. You got new from no down on there. John August, right? Maybe John August. John August, right? Coming up. Booked on the show. Well, I hope it will have to ask him if he met Jimmy luxury. Jimmy luxury. Oh my gosh. Jimmy luxury and the Tommy Rome orchestra. In the late 90s, A&R guys were just throwing money at the fucking wall, man.

Yeah. And on a major, you say on a major that isn't incredible. Speaking of throwing Sony records, EPK on YouTube. Oh my god. That's his logo have Dyson it. Yes, it does. If you were wondering where the other had his logo had Dyson it. Edge of my seat. Please tell me he's got a wide-brim fedora. Oh, good lord. He does. Yes. Christian, are you going to play this song for us? Are you going to play his song for us? I'll stay well directing and connected, make it create and develop in the center methods of making records. I roll it out like movie credits on the big screen. I mean, it is luxurious. It is luxurious. I mean, I'm going to say this about Jimmy luxury. Yeah. When I saw Jimmy luxury in concert, as with when I saw blood of Abraham in concert. Yes. In both cases, I was genuinely impressed at how well they carried off the horrible idea that was their act. You know, sometimes I like a bad idea perfectly executed.

I really, I, I, I, I, I, snakes on a plane. Stakes on a plane. Uh, that Mac Sabbath band like Stalk Tours, the McDonald's Black Sabbath cover band. Oh, it seemed to have thought of the name first and are still going with it. Dred Zeppelin had a really good run there. Dred Zeppelin did all, uh, Dred Zeppelin did all reggae versions of Zeppelin songs. Oh, boy. Um, and they were huge. They, they overlapped on the jam band circuit a lot. So they can't say. You don't say. You don't say. Um, so that sounds like honestly, I'll buy that for a dollar. Yeah. Not a bad idea. You know, you already got dire maker anyway, sort of ramping you up as is. Yeah, there they are. And oh, and I forgot to mention the lead singer dressed as late period Elvis. Um, sure. Oh, okay. Yeah, so they would come through ith ago all the time. Um, again, you'll be shocked to learn. Um, but yeah, uh, that was a, this is like the confluence of my father and laws musical instruments. Yeah, there was a certain kind of dad, uh, uh, who really just leans into something like that wants to like,

one stop shopping for like Marley legend and houses of the Holy. My father and law likes heavy sounds. And there you go. Yeah, so that's what makes heavy sounds. Dread Zeppelin was your move. Yeah. Um, should we listen to some phone calls? Yeah, why not? So basically when something momentous happens to you, we ask you to call us at 2069844, or just record a voice memo right there on a little microphone that lives inside your telephone. Yeah, email it to us at jjgoatmaximumfund.org. That's easy to remember. Here's the person who's done one of those. Hello, Jordan, Jesse and guests. I'm going to go with David Bore. This is Chad from Providence, Rhode Island calling in for your long running segment. Some big ass rodents I met today. Uh, I'm visiting some friends in Taiwan and we went to an amazing petting zoo, where I got to meet and feed some little baby capy baras. And there were also some maras in there and some scary geese. So I'm floating on cloud nine.

Love the show. I'm just out here, living my life. Yeah, just living his life. Is a goose too dangerous to have in a petting zoo? I'm scared of them. Seems like a bad animal to have in a petting zoo. Is it safer than an ostrich? Did he say ostrich? No, I'm just saying it would be safer than an ostrich to have in a petting zoo. Oh, okay, yeah. So I mean, it's at least, when I sort of reframed it, at least it's not an ostrich. No, you're right. I think a goose cannot kick you to death. I've never heard of a silly ostrich to shade. It's true. Oh, point counterpoint. This is the Blocling group. Holy shit. Can I ask a question? Hi, I'm David Brooks from the Atlantic. Here's my question for you guys. You've met my dog, Jr. Yes. Jordan and I. Jordan likes to occasionally join for a little dog walk, which is very nice. Very nice, yeah. But you haven't met my dog, Jr. I've come on with no dog. It's nice to interact with a dog.

I have two dog. You have two dogs. Oh, that's a great dog. I like your dog. My dog is a half golden retriever, half many other things. Right. Sort of a scruffy golden retriever. Here's my question. Sometimes I will take him to Lincoln Park here in Los Angeles. The Horniest Concert, I've ever been to. Of course. Nope, nope, nope, nope. Nope, nope, nope, nope, believe it. We'll go to Lincoln Park here in Los Angeles, which is a nice park with a big lake. Yeah. I mean, Lincoln Heights and the lake attracts waterfowl, particularly geese. Lots of interesting, lots of different weird types of ducks sometimes. Yeah. But I'll big bunches of geese. I mean, like I'm talking about, there'll be 50 or 60 geese out there at Lincoln Park in the morning. Yeah. Should I be worried that my dog might catch one of the geese? Because he does go after these geese. Do you let Jr. catch? Yeah. I mean, don't tell anybody on Reddit. No, I wouldn't dream of it.

I mean, it's, here's the thing about geese. They can fly. I've not met you here. Sometimes it seems like they're waiting too long to start flying. These are soft, L.A. geese, you know? They're getting smoothies at the air one. They don't read. I'm going to pack comedy about this. They do, ironically, they do goat yoga. Right. They're just doing it for Instagram, though. Yeah. I think you're probably okay. I am curious, aside from the sheer horror of the moment, to whom would you have to answer, should Jr. take a geese as a prize? Well, the goose's children will want revenge at some point. Well, given, yes. And I imagine the entire goose dojo will seek vengeance. I'd be concerned about the entire avian community. Yeah. I don't know. I mean, I mean, carousel, prejudes. Yeah.

John, I didn't know you had two dogs. I have two dogs. I have a, well, here's what happened. We got a rescue years and years and years ago. And, um, wait, hold on. Who rescued him? That's a good question. It's a good, we rescued him. Okay. He's far better off than we are now. Yeah, don't be cute. Um, he was found running around Downey with a broken tail. I'm pretty sure he's at least tried meth. Uh-huh. He is teeth are all jacked up. We rescued sunny. Don't get it twisted. Yeah. But sunny is great. Sunny said, terrier mix. And about five years ago, it really kind of, we, we was the height of the pandemic. It really kind of felt like sunny was on his last legs. My wife really wanted a pug. So we went and got a pug just so we would have some overlap. Uh-huh. Sunny hasn't gone anywhere. Sunny's got cataracts. Oh, we got a pug on screen. Is this the pug, John? That's Mabel. Yeah. That is Mabel, my husband. Your dog is also named Mabel. Yeah. My other dog's name Mabel. No kidding. Of junior and Mabel. Yeah. Yeah.

Mabel is, um, actually Mabel is, um, the kids named her, uh, it's Kristen Shaw's character on Gravity Falls. That's how my dog knows what it came to be named Mabel. We got a, we got a, we got a call Kristen Shaw. That's amazing. Um, uh, yeah. We were, we were like name, there was the only name they could agree on was their favorite show. Which I, if you, this is, listen, you're not missing anything. We're not having kids. You're fine. But Gravity Falls is a great fucking show. And it would easily fall off your radar if you don't have children. But it's one of those shows where you're walking behind the couch and you hear something and you're like, wait, that was actually legitimately funny. Right. What the fuck is happening here? And it's this great like ex files primer for kids. Um, it's only two seasons. Alex first is the creator terrific show. I've, I've watched a couple like that and it's been a long time since I've been here. I've, I've watched a couple like that and adventure time. I do, you know, as, as a, as a, you know, kids animation professional, I kind of like, hey, let's, I've watched a Phineas and Furb. Phineas and Furb is really good. Yeah, it is amazing like how I, I remark often on this show how like kids animation is so good now. It really is striking. It looks like cool alternative comics.

Actually funny people write it while. And, but it doesn't talk down to the kids. Yeah. It's enjoying it. And what do you compare to our like toy commercials that we had growing up? Oh, God. I know how much better. Oh my God. Or compared to, you know, ThunderCats as you cited earlier. Sure. Some of the craft that was on TV. Because it was either like the new garbage or the great old looney tunes. But we had nothing contemporary. Right. When I was growing up. And these kids are spoiled rotten with really smartly written cartoons. You were about to say. Well, my daughter Scarlett was now 12 when she, she got obsessed with gravity falls when she was 10 maybe let's say. Okay. And she has seen every episode of gravity falls 11 times. I'm sure. I'm sure she's watched the full run of gravity falls 11 times. Keep a track too, huh? But it's joke heavy. And you do, you know, it's like coming back to a 30 rock. I forgot that bit. That's a great bit. Oh, I forgot about that. You know, when it has a similar pace to it. But yes, we got Mabel because we thought like, oh, I think sunny circling the drain.

And he is still with us. We just walked on and he was flying. Sunny is up back. That goes sunny. Just at least mostly cataracts at this point. How many years has it has tail? How many years has he? You know, again, he was a rescue. He said with a certain amount of sanctimony. But he is probably like 14 or 15. And not like a, you know, a sharp look in 14 or 15. But he's a terrier mixed with a broken tail to begin with. Yeah. But he gets up on the couch by himself. He's, he's so pretty agile. He's blind and I think he's going a little deep too. And you, you can tell that he's agile because you're fire tennis balls at him. Yeah, all the time. Yeah. Just at his toe so he can dance. How do he and Mabel get along? Initially, terribly. And then it was like, uh-oh, the trophy bride has given him a new lease on life. And it's, they're very protective of each other. It's actually, it was similar to the relationship my, my children have. An initial mistrust followed by a deep affection. At some point my, my two former dogs, uh, now late dogs, my like, uh, special love dog Coco was a, was the older.

We had another dog named Sissy. And Sissy was maybe three years younger than Coco or something like that. And at some point Coco got old. Sissy realized she was the boss now and just how did Coco go into the grave? Just after like fully like eight years of it being fine. Right. Like Sissy was like, I sense weakness. Oh my god. And just bullied Coco until the day she died. Oh no. And it was hilarious because like Sissy was like a, Coco was a Chihuahua mix. But like Sissy was like 70, 30 with 70 being Chihuahua. Like she was very little in Chihuahua. And just was like, oh, it's on now, bitch. It was like, yeah, just absolutely drove Coco to death. It just occurs to me that when I did after midnight, uh, there was a bit on the show where, um, uh, Maya Hawk had talked about how she was perfectly comfortable being called a nepo baby. Uh-huh. And everyone was like, uh, oh, that's so refreshingly honest.

What are your refreshingly honest takes? Uh-huh. And mine, which went like, not quite viral, but a little more viral than, uh, uh, something like that. Usually goes. Sure. Was my elderly rescue is taking forever to die. And that was like three years ago, maybe four on television. I said that. Yeah. And Sunny was curled up next to me this afternoon. Wow. Fine breathing, taking in air. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. No, he said he might be a highlander. Some dogs lived to be 20. So Christopher Lambert's going to show up at the door at some point and take his fucking head, clean off. Um, we got another call. You got another call in there? Hey Jordan, Jeffy and Jeff. I'm going to get a Tristan Farnin close. Um, Mrs. Stovia, she heard her phone out. I just want to say I just used the women's restroom alone without a body for the first time. And, uh, I feed and nothing else of note happens. Um, yeah. Love you. Bye. Love you too, Sylvia.

Love you too. And, uh, you know, we've been, uh, debating on this show for a few weeks now as to who the piss queen truly is. Yeah. It's been a big question. We've been what? Who is the end? I think we have our answer. We have our answer. I mean, Sylvia has been crowned. Sylvia, Sylvia came in hot, guessing a guess to I think if I am not mistaken is one of the characters from all creatures, great and small. I was going to say I did not know who the guess guess was. Yeah. Tristan, I think is actually a British show about a veteran area. Yeah. See, it's all life is a slow, herald guy and the beginnings, the end. Christopher Lambert's going to cut off our heads at some point. We don't want to. You know, I'm cisgender. Mm-hmm. And I actually just the other day used the men's restroom without a buddy successfully for the first time. I know. I usually need help holding my giant dick.

Mm-hmm. Any excuse to tell that story. Yeah. Well, you know, that's why he's got the placard on the car. Sure. Right. Dick, too big to drive. You've got to park close to my destination. Yeah, right. Don't make me walk all the way across this parking lot with this massive unit. Right. No. Show it on board. No, if you like your ass. Everybody. Sure. The joke on board. Why not? I mean, it's a show, right? Yeah. You just say things on a podcast. So a lot of times, if anybody out there is a young person, you're thinking about becoming a podcast. Right. We could probably help you give you some advice because we're coming up on our 20th year podcast. There are, baby. Here on Jordan Jessica, so we've really learned a lot. So one example would be, if it seems quiet, say something. With words in the language of your preference. Yeah. So it really, at the end of the day, quiet people are going to worry if they're phone or they're

a stereotype or something. They're a kind of service or something. Or computer or broken. Right. Right. And that's what you're trying to avoid. So say things. Go for 75 minutes or so. Waste somebody's time. Like a famous person with a real job in show. A guy who jimbly. Where's he? Yeah. Find a guy on home box office. You and Shatterstar. This is the only. I love that you're still calling it home box office. I'm trying to bring that back as well. Right. Yes. We as well we should as well. You guys in boxing, right? That's what's on. That's pretty much it. Yeah. And then smoking the bandage. Yeah. And red shoe diary. God. After the kids go to sleep. Yes. Indeed. We'll men king. We tried to get on HBO and they told us dream on. Wow. Sure. Wow. From the show dream on. I got it. No, I got it. By the way, by the way, dream on. One of Bill Brady, the creator of Big Bang Theory's first credits.

Really? 100%. He wrote on a dream on starring Brian Benben. How about that? Yeah. That show was clips of old sitcoms tied together by a series. Clips of old movies tied together by a sitcom. And it was part of his like fantasy was that he would go into. It was sort of like it kind of. Do you remember dead men don't wear plaid? Yeah. Yeah. Okay. It was kind of that. But it didn't quite have that much of a cohesive vision necessarily. But yeah, it was Brian Benben was a sports. No, he was a film. I was in all movie buff. And he would have these little moments where he would fantasize. And he'd find himself interacting with old movie characters, I think. Like was the gist of that. Yeah. And I think I have to go home and check my blue race. I think we got a network TV version that cut out the nudity that was on H. Because I like watched it on Fox, I think, after the Simpsons or, you know,

Simpsons, two other shows in then Dremont. Right. But the legend was that if you had HBO, there was a nudity version of that. Almost once in episode. Yeah. Almost once in episode. I mean, and that's, you know, some of the stuff didn't make it to HBO. Simpsons, whoops, Herman's head and then Dremont. Yeah. Maybe rock. I don't remember. Yeah, rock live. I remember that season, sure. There was a period where I saw the Chris Isaac show on Channel 44. Maybe after Saturday Night Live or something like that, they would show the Chris Isaac show. That's right. He had like a, like a, like a curbure enthusiasm type of thing. Yeah. He played a version of himself. Yeah. Right. Oh, that's another horny concert we snuck into in high school. Oh, Chris Isaac. Yeah. When he played Lady and Red. Ooh, boy. Gush City. San Francisco legend. Isn't that Chris DeBurg Lady and Red? Oh, I don't know. Maybe I... Chris Isaac is wicked game. Chris DeBurg is a wicked game.

Maybe I, maybe it was wicked game. It's entirely possible. You might be right. Chris Isaac covered Lady and Red. Sure. And Chris Elliott is get a life. Chris Elliott is get a life. Yes. That's right. Let's take a quick break. We'll be back in just a second on Jordan Jessica. You know, we've been doing my brother and my brother me for 15 years. And maybe you stopped listening for a while. Maybe you never listened. And you're probably assuming three wide guys talking for 15 years. I know where this is ended up. But no. No, you would be wrong. Where is shocked is you are that we have not fallen into some sort of horrific scandal or just turned into a big crypt of thing. Yeah. You don't even really know how crypto works. The only NFTs I'm into are naughty, funny things, which is what we talk about on my brother and me. We serve it up every Monday for you if you're listening. And if not, we just leave it out back and just rotten. So check it out on Maximum Fun or wherever you get your pie gas.

It's Jordan Jesse Goe. I'm Jesse Thorne America's Radio sweetheart. Jordan Morris Boy Detective. John Ross Bowie just happy to be here, you know. You know what? Happy you're here. It is we who are happy you are here that you have come to see us from Homebox Office. I'm very glad to be here and not on showtime or USA. It's great to be on Homebox Office. You know what? I say, Christian, I'll write you the check for $200. Submit this for a cable ace. Okay. I figured it out. Yeah. We're going to submit this for a guy. We're just going to lose to Arles again. We're always losing to Arles. It feels like no matter what we do, we lose to Arles. He's a juggernaut. He's a juggernaut. Yeah. The S's are dollar signs. The R. You think we haven't met Patrick Ewing? I mean, maybe you can let, you know, Zazzlava whoever know that a lot of people, when they

subscribe to HBO Max, they really like a lot of the content. Stuart Field, Save the Universe, people like that a lot. Appreciate it. But they do want more HBO 1.0. We want more. They got Larry Sanders, but we want to see, we want to see the fables bring on, bring, dream on episodes with boobs. Sure. We want to see the boobs. We want to, in general, we just want to see boobs. Yeah. For a minute, when you first subscribed to HBO Max, you could watch TaxiCab Confessions. Oh, the best. Which was a treat. The best. I learned a lot about acting watching TaxiCab Confessions. That's how. No, because, because it was, it was the dawn of reality TV, except that those guys didn't sign their forms until the end of the TaxiCab ride. And as such, had no fucking idea they were being filmed. So you got the most unfiltered fucking realness on that show. Granted, it only tells you how to realistically play shit-faced.

But there's value in that. And there was just something like you want to see this, you know, as, as voyeuristic and creepy as it is, there's something very unfiltered about it. Because now a day, everyone who's on reality television is fully aware they are on television and they go through grooming and they have, they, they, they tell them. Yeah, somebody's feeding them lines off-cans. They develop their own catchphrases. It's nonsense. But there was something very, very, very, very, very, about what was going on on TaxiCab Confessions. Was first in 10 in HBO show, the football sitcom. I've aged myself out of this conversation. I watched it happen. I don't know, but that's what we need to be on HBO Max. Yeah. That's we, you know, and boxing with Buster Douglas. That's what we want. Yeah, first in 10. There we go. I'm not making this up. That was a, I think it was a, yeah, a woman ran a football team. There's a manager, owner of football team. I don't know. Reliable source of boobs, first in 10.

Do you remember it? And I don't remember it. I think they just enjoyed being able to curse on a half hour. I think that was defensive lineman had some, yeah, some, we have no nudity on Stewart yet. There is as of yet no nudity on this season spoiler. Okay. No nudity. Yeah, may though, you could dump them out. We could, we do like one fucking episode. We actually were, does I ad lib one one time? And I was not scolded, but I was like, yeah, we can't. We have ours already. Bert has one earlier. Can't do it. And I was like, oh, shame. Well, how do you, how did they, where did they, who decided what did Chuck Lori come in for the day and just and draw the lines for how many swears? No, I think it actually comes from HBO Max to a certain extent. I mean, I know that it like so everyone knows the PG 13 role. You can have one fucking in non sexual context, non sexual context. It can't be, you know, I, I, I fucking, I mean, fuck me harder. Shrek. It can't be that. It has to be like when Bono said it when they want to Grammy and the fine got overturned

because it wasn't sexual or expatory content because it was exclamatory. Exactly. And even go fuck yourself. San Diego works in Anchorman. Okay. That's, that keeps it at PG 13. Interesting. It's a weird, but it is a thing. Right. And I think we're following some sort of similarly arbitrary guideline. Okay. And that we are allowed an exclamatory fuck per episode, couple of shits, pepper here and there. But they are leaning into the violence. The first episode has the, the, the horror foam classic of blood on the lens if you'll notice. Yeah. I could see the blood on the lens. Yeah. We're really happy about that. So, and there is an episode seven, I think, is cartoonishly violent. It's like an itchy scratchy cartoon basically. It's really, it's really raw. Um, so we're enjoying the freedom. But I don't think we're abusing the freedom. It's a genuinely hilarious show. I think people, people out there should, should watch it if they like funny stuff. Regardless of how familiar you are with the Big Bang Theory, you should watch the show.

I think you need to be. I think a lot of people are enjoying it having not watched the old, the mothership show as well. John, I just want to say that I respect and value all your work. And you know how much I love your gifts and your hard work and so on. I have not seen the Big Bang Theory ever before, but I did watch and enjoy two great episodes. The two that were available to me as I turned on my HBO of Stewart Fales to save the universe. Now I have seen Stewart saves his family. Yeah. So I knew a little bit of the backstory. Okay, but again, we're not actually related to, you know what, I'm glad you enjoy all of it. Yeah. I've seen Andy Richter control the universe as well. Does that help? That's fun. That was a funny show. It was. It was. It was really funny. It's Stewart saves his family. It's really good. It's in that weird pocket of 90s SNL movies along with its pat where they're really hard to find. But you know what, Stewart saves his family is a shockingly rich and heartfelt film about

family dysfunction and alcoholism. And I believe it's Al Franken to do that, right? Yeah. Yeah. And the former senator from the great city of Minnesota and the its pet movie has a cameo from Wayne. Weenery in that. So both are art. I mean, I am actually with Wayne Julian Moore is in the ladies man movie. Wow. As a horny clown. Look it up. Look it up. You know what, John? Ladies man with Tim Meadows. I'm going to save looking that up for later. Oh, yeah, you are. Oh, oh, oh, oh. Once the fellas after the kids have gone to bed. In here in this room, John Ross Bawi, what a pleasure it is always to see you. So glad to be back guys. John Ross Bawi, go watch him on your home box office because it's going to be great. You're going to laugh your little butt off. Sure. Well, just not if you're too sensitive to blood on the lens. Christian Dwayneus is the producer of our program. And someone dreamed that waiter named Order Up in the world's fanciest McDonald's that was had sit down table service wouldn't let them order Dr. Pepper because he was going to bring them the good stuff. And the good stuff is Dr. Pepper with Apple juice. Yes. I haven't had that dream. I did have the dream where my body was covered in sores that look like kiwi fruit.
