It just happened here in the last couple of hours. The big story is, of course, that Secretary Nome, Homeland Security Secretary, is going to be replaced by the senator from Oklahoma. And that, of course, you know, is what everybody seems to be talking about. I guess I have to confess that I'm not surprised by this move.
I never thought that she was the best candidate for Homeland Security. She's a very talented woman. Don't get me wrong. She's a very talented woman, very talented lady, was governor, I think, of South Dakota. She was also a member of the Senate, also a member of the House, very talented, very talented lady. But I'm never felt that Homeland Security was her best option. I think maybe Secretary of Interior would have been better. Even in Secretary of Energy, because I know those are big issues up there. But I just never felt that this was her best position. I also don't think she communicated the issues as well as you need in that job. That's one of the reasons why I was happy to see Tom Holman get involved in the situation in Minneapolis because Holman can say the same thing that Secretary Nome was saying, but say it differently with a lot more authority.
So I'm not surprised that this change is being made. I'm kind of surprised, frankly, that she had the job in the first place. But you cannot, I don't know, I just didn't do that much for me now. I don't want to take some of her accomplishments away. A lot of good things were done during her term. The border is actually better than it was before. There have been deportations. We have treated some issues that had to be dealt with. I give her a pretty good grade as far as the job that she did. I don't give her a good grade though on communications, which is maybe where she got herself in trouble when she went before. The Congress like this last week and said something about $200 million in a promotion campaign or something that President Trump didn't like. So bottom line is she will be replaced by the Secretary of Oklahoma, who is a much better communicator. It's not really a change in policy that much.
I don't really see that because the policy here is said by President Trump and I don't see him changing the policy that much. But I think a better communicator is what President Trump needed in Homeland Security. I have to say with all due respect, I don't believe that Secretary Nome was good at communicating. Again, I don't want to be misunderstood. She's a very smart lady. I hope she stays around and maybe takes another job where she can bring her contribution to the Trump presidency. But that job I never felt was the best one for her. And let's confirm the Secretary of Oklahoma as soon as possible because I think he's going to do a fantastic job in communicating and explaining, which is so important. I think one of the reasons, for example, that Secretary of State Rubio is so popular is because he can communicate things very clearly.
I mean, he can explain to people very clearly what's going on. And people listen, you know, watch Rubio and go, okay, yeah, that makes sense. Secretary Rubio, you're good at explaining it, which is what I think a lot of Americans want to see. Unfortunately, I don't think she did a good job explaining. And I'll just give you a very quick example. When they had that incident in Minneapolis where that man was killed, in her press conference, she refers to the man who was killed as a domestic terrorist. I don't think that was very smart. I'm not defending the guy. I think it was a horrific thing that what this guy did to throw himself in, you know, against his agents. I mean, I thought that was very bad. And to some extent, he has to take some responsibility for what happened to him. But to come out in a press conference and refer to this guy as a domestic terrorist,
I just don't think that's a good idea. I just don't think that makes any sense. So, again, I don't think the policy is going to change, but I think having a different spokesperson, or spokeswoman, man, or whatever, I think is going to be better for that particular, for that particular mission. So we say thank you to Secretary Known for some of the works that she did. And I'm looking forward. I'm really looking forward to the Secretary of Oklahoma taking that job, or the senator from Oklahoma taking that job. I think his last name is Mollins. It escapes me right now. But, you know, I've seen this guy on TV a bunch of times, and he knows how to talk, which is something that is very important, being able to get through at times media bias, to be honest with you, and explain to the American people just what the heck is going on. Well, just a quick note about the Texas primary.
There were some interesting, interesting primaries in South Texas, and we had a chat about this with George Rodriguez in our last video. So I would recommend that you listen to the watch, the last video that we did with George. We went through a lot of different situations and votes and so on. So check out our last video. We got into a lot of detail with George about what happened here in Georgia. Well, the other big story happening is that apparently President Trump, by all indications, looks ready to endorse Senator Cornyn here in Texas. And in the interest of full disclosure, I voted for Senator Cornyn, because I always felt he was more electable. I always felt that he would win much better than Paxton. There's nothing wrong with Paxton.
He's done a very good job as Attorney General, I'll give him that. But he does have a lot of problems, and I also think honestly, the minute that he becomes the candidate, which would be late May, you're going to see the news media go after Paxton, because they don't like him. I mean, this is to be honest about it. They don't like him. And you're going to have all these stories, you're going to be spending half of the time talking about this or this or this or that that happens. And that's going to be distracting the state from the conversation we should have. I mean, look, this fellow James Halleriko has a lot of things that he needs to explain to people. He's being presented as a moderate, he's really not. He's a very liberal candidate, but he may get away with running as a moderate if Paxton has to spend so much time talking about himself for these attacks on him. So I actually think that even for Paxton himself,
it would be better to stay as Attorney General, maybe run for governor down the road, maybe run for governor down the road, or maybe, maybe President Trump has a position for him in the administration. You never know how these things happen as we saw today with Secretary Nome. Maybe there's something down the road that could attract Attorney General Paxton. I think, as I said, he's a good man. He's done some good work here, but I think given that you don't want to put the seat in Texas in play, you don't want to have a repeat of what happened in 2018, when looks at it accrues and it's all wrong, that thing was close, much too close, much closer than it should have been. And I don't want to see a repeat of that in 2024. I mean, I still think Paxton would win, but my point is that I think Cornyn would win a lot easier. I mean, I can see Cornyn potentially winning by seven to ten points.
I really do. I don't see Paxton winning by that. I think Paxton would win by maybe two or three points. Because Paxton would be the candidate that the Democrats, he is a toxic guy. If you're a Democrat, you hate Paxton. I don't think they feel that way about Cornyn. I think Cornyn attracts independence a lot more than Paxton does. I mean, that's just a fact. So anyway, so I hope that the president endorses Senator Cornyn. I think he will. And then I hope that Attorney General Paxton drops out, like the president was saying. And let's not have this stupid primary that we would have. We would have a runoff for the next two and a half months that is going to be as bloody as it gets. And all this money that is going to be spending trying to kill each other politically, why don't we take that money and use it against Salarico by starting the campaign earlier
and by simply defining or painting Salarico the way he is, a liberal. And if you go back to the 2022 when Governor Abbott ran for re-election and you ran against Beto O'Rourke, that's one of the things that the governor did very well. They took Beto O'Rourke and they painted him as a liberal very soon. And they had all those videos running around the state of who Beto O'Rourke was. That's what you got to do at Salarico. You don't want to wait until the end of Major do that. You want to be doing that in March and April rather than fighting each other. So I hope that we can have peace in the party and we can focus on winning the Senate. That's really the important thing as far as I'm concerned. And I think that's where President Trump is coming from by what we hear that he's going to be endorsing Senator Cornyn. Well, one quick thing here on this day in history, 1946,
Winston Churchill came to Washington. Now, he had just lost his election in England. If you can believe that. But he was defeated in the UK. He came back later as Prime Minister, but he was defeated. So he came here as the former Prime Minister of England. And he spoke with President Truman. And he delivered a very famous speech. And it was called the Iron Curtain speech, where he talked about the communist threat and what it meant to the West and how important it was for the West to take communism seriously. And it was really one of the great speeches. And it was not just the great speech, but it really set in motion the policy of anti-communism policy or the policy of containment. That was a very big part of the foreign policy of the United States beginning with President Truman. And really going all the way up to the first President Bush when the Soviet Union collapsed. So 1946, Winston Churchill, one of the great men of the 20th century,
delivered that great speech, the Iron Curtain speech, where he talked about this Iron Curtain that we were dealing with the Soviet state and all the real Soviet Union and all of their countries back then. Thank you for listening. This is a Soviet country in Dallas. And we'll talk to you later. Bye-bye, everybody. What's up, baby? It's Bretsky.
