Welcome to the Dominic Fox show. I am Dominic Fox serve. That is Charlie Kravitz in a beautiful new shirt. You look nice today. Thank you. We are joined by Mina Kimes as we often are previewing games. What up, Mina? Hello. I just realized I haven't worn a tank top and thus haven't been able to show off my guns lately. Y'all know I've been lifting. That's right. I remember when I was when was out there. Oh, out there for jeopardy. I mean, I had just started lifting. I've been lifting. Yeah. I got up to 60 pounds on the dumbbell chest supported row. Yeah, yesterday. I remember. It's your first. I know you were saying at the time you never really like lifted before your row. And I also remember like the pandemic when Beaumonti first started lifting. There's nothing like that. When you first started lifting those first couple of months. It's just your body changes so fast that you're like, oh, am I going to be jacked? Every week you hit a new high. It's amazing. I'm like, am I just the best at this ever? You were like, no, you're about to plateau. And I'm like, oh, you're going to play it so pretty soon.

55 pounds on the goblet squat. Tell the plateau that. Oh, Mina, we I've lifted it with Dominique a few times. Oh gosh. He's still a competitor. No. Yeah, no, we just couple of couple of bros just getting the old guy lifting. Yeah. What's your favorite? What's your favorite exercise? I don't know. I mean, I'm just like, I like a good pull up. I think that's a like pull ups a good exercise. Pull up. Yeah, it's my favorite. Okay, old man. Who says pull up in response to? I do. No, no, no, no, no. He's a gatekeeper too. It's like I could see. Dominique, you have no respect for someone who can't do pull ups. I got a little respect for it. Like, you're ripping him out in greenie's face at the draft. Yeah. Pull ups used to be the one thing that kept me from getting presidential fitness every damn year because I could I could run the fast mile. I could sit and reach and then I'd just be hanging on that pull up bar like a dead fish. That's why I like to pull up. Yeah. It's a separate. I know, though. Talk about you got a full. Okay. All right.

Let's talk football Mike Tomlin. Okay. Can we start here because this is the most important story in the NFL. Did you guys watch the 20 minute YouTube video of him breaking down? I saw some of my craft stuff. I feel like I got enough of a gist of it. It is a very elaborate Minecraft city. I've seen clips and I have family so though. I guess people watch it with their families because these kids are Minecraft. So I didn't know anything about Minecraft and I found it's you just like you build cities you can build whatever it's like a Lego style brick by brick thing. The amount of detail that he put into this had to be so therapeutic when he was dealing with those dealers teams. It is it is like it makes perfect sense. Like anything Antonio Brown did. I'm building a new stadium and building a tower, etc. Oh, Lavinia Bells. Do you think when he looks back at those cities he thinks about the stressful times is like this this was built by this playoff loss that I needed to work through some emotions this way? The clips I've seen he's only talking about things in his personal life like decisions

he's made that reflected like where his kids went to college or like the Jack and Jill bathrooms when he had you know, he hasn't. I haven't seen any clips of him connecting it to football career. I have seen people try to do before and after Minecraft stats which are hilarious. It's very funny and obviously silly but the attention to detail is really astounding. It was that the tweet that his son put out being like I would come home and my PlayStation was gone when I wasn't in trouble. Was my favorite thing about this. He's like I never knew why until this until he announced this this city. Yeah, I've never played it. My kids played it. Of course they don't play it anymore and I remember it but I could see myself if I were to do something like that because there's something cool about actually finishing something that a lot of our work does not include where it's like I'm studying tape and talking about like it's really nice to be able to like put a puzzle together or build a thing and be able to say look what I accomplished. I'm not a puzzle guy. Anyway, let's move on to the games Jaguar's Bangles.

This game is awesome. I'm like okay, so we're not going to talk about this necessarily match up to match up. I want to talk about each team individually and some of the storylines that are floating of it above them. And I want to start with the Jaguar side of this because I'm really sucked in by this team. I think we talked about this after week one and other than that half against the Broncos like they have looked awesome Trevor Lawrence is a different player than he was but I think so much of this is about Liam Cohen and the program that he's built and the offense he's put in place and we've started to we put Ben Johnson in the group of the top guys with the McVase, the Kyle Shanahan's, etc., etc. Do you start to think that Liam Cohen kind of fits in that group with how he's built this program and how that offense and how that team is looking? Well, I mean, I think that you have to what do you're including Baker Mayfield in Liam Cohen resume because I think that's like a little levy. It's my guy. That's like the guy you my guy. He made will levy us into a top two round pick. I mean, that's the quarterback whisperer like thing, right? As you have to have multiple in college doesn't quite feel the same, but like you have

that multiple NFL guys that their best football was with you. Whether he's considered quarterback whisperer or not or he's just like an offensive innovator or just a quality coach like I think that which are getting out of Trevor Lawrence seemingly pretty consistently now in the running game. Like that's it. It's not we focus so much on the quarterback in the passing game and of course with the BTJ drama and how they've manufactured passing game despite the fact that the people that we thought including Travis Hunter were going to be big parts of their offense or not there. It's like Trevor looks really good and like he hasn't looked this good. There's abilities or his willingness to stand in a pocket. His willingness to take the the check downs and attack deep down the field in the middle of those zones. Like he seems to me most comfortable attacking zones and yeah, I mean, I guess Liam Cohen deserves a ton of credit for that. I'm not sure how to categorize them, but other than good coach. So make sure of things though, right with Liam Cohen. Maybe this is why he's getting a little bit less of I mean, Ben Johnson. It's hard not to isolate him after he took a third string quarterback is shredded big

Vanche's defense. But Liam Cohen the offense looks amazing. As Dominique said, the run game is improved. But when you watch it on tape, you also see a quarterback making some incredibly aggressive, ambitious and difficult throws. You also see, I think skill players who like James Gladstone, honestly deserves some credit to the I can't go there after the Travis Hunter trade. They have a funny name for nickname for him. Jimmy stones. You know, is that it? Jimmy stones. Yeah. But my point is like this, the skill players also, I think deserve a lot of the credit in Jacksonville. It just feels like a really good match with the scheme and the quarterback and then the defense is extremely well coached. Good defensive coordinator. They're just a complete team. I think that's what makes them such an obvious Super Bowl contender. Dominique, we talked about this before the season. As we're looking across the NFL, we saw a lot of teams with a great offense, maybe not a great defense, vice versa. The Jags legitimately could finish the season with top five units in both marks and I wouldn't be surprised. Absolutely. That is one of my preseason takes that I welcome everyone to go back and revisit, consume

that one. And that's the only one that matters because we did. We had them on the, we did a power rankings pod on my show. And I think we had them like top six at least. Look at us. I don't want to look back at the other five because I feel like I might have really been off on some of these teams. Before we get off Liam Cohen, I told a story speaking of Bermani earlier today to Bermani about Liam Cohen. And of course, like you go to these Super Bowl parties and I really talk about what happens in the parties most of the time, it's just like a party, whatever you move on. But I remember being at, we saw in the New Heights party. Yeah, it was the Kelsey party. I saw him at the Kelsey party and he had Solomon Thomas in the corner. And I just walked over because I was worried because he, we're not worried. I was interested in what was happening. I didn't think Solomon Thomas was in trouble. He's walk over and he's talking about how to run duo and the importance of duo in a double team. It's like midnight at a Super Bowl party and he is cornering D Lyman to tell them about duo. Man loves football. And he was talking about running plays, which I thought was interesting.

This under appreciated thing about like a lot of the best offensive coaches is they all are pretty good at designing running plays or designing run game. Like, of course, Ben Johnson gets a ton of credit for it. Liam Cohen has improved this running game here in Kyle Shanahan. I think all the way back to Mike, it's like the engine of everything that you did well was like innovative in the running game. Not to move off of this game, but I want to talk about the Bengal side of it a little bit. So we're going back to takes ahead. We did like a how fantasy football can tell the story of the adult season. One of mine was that the platonic ideal for the bangles was that Joe burrow needed to be between quarterback eight and 12 in fantasy. I take it back. I miss like when he actually was. It sounds like it ripped to chase and Higgins down the field. The offense was ultra explosive. Not like I don't want to overact to one week of this, but I just want to see them like in full flight. I feel like we have not seen that yet this year. Yeah. It sounds silly, but I mean, I think at the time your justification was that is. And he's currently exactly. QB 12 and fantasy.

It's underpass. It's just. Yeah, just the case was that it means that the defense has improved. Right. And he wouldn't need to put up those numbers. But yeah, I think that honestly is the that leads us to the most important and interesting thing about this team is like, who was their defense really? Is this D line going to be the dominant one that they started out to be or are they going to be the D line that. This is why that early part of the season is so goofy, right? Because watching the kids the Texans and it was like, forget average. Yeah. This will be an elite defense. And then after this week, last week, it was like after Aaron Rogers and company shredded them, it was like, maybe the Texans just stuck in the run game and I'm like, maybe this isn't the greatest run defense on earth. I mean, I think the truth is somewhere in between. Like I still think this is a better defense than like Dallas, for example, right? Like I do think that the free agency additions have largely worked out. I just think it's going to be very game plan opponent specific. And that's where I think they could run into some trouble in this one to take it back

to the game for a minute because if this defense has a clear weakness to me, Dominique, it's the middle of the field. The pat seals did a great job with play design attacking that, attacking them and mancov original that. And as you said earlier, Trevor Lawrence looks at the middle of the field the way my son looks at ice cream. He is just like flicking his chops thinking about these backers in safety. So I think this could actually be just a matchup advantage. That favor is Jacksonville. I watched a bunch of Trevor Lawrence this morning and that was my biggest takeaway. It's like he destroyed the middle of the field. And they also like, I think you brought up the skill players. I think that matters because you can find them creating angles for Trevor Lawrence and creating windows for Trevor Lawrence. It seems that they all and this might be a function of being well coach, but it does seem like they're all on the same page and understand the overarching concepts. They understand what they're trying to execute on each play, especially in the middle field because that's a dangerous place to throw the ball and it seems like it's the safest

place for them. It's a shorter throw downfield and Trevor can use that arm strength to rip down there if he trusts the people are going to be where they're supposed to be. Back to the bankers defense for a second though. The thing that I've seen in their defenses, we focus a bunch on the defensive front. I think that's important because that's where their biggest additions were. But when you have that under the control, it seemed like they exposed the back end issues. The issues weren't solved. I think that's going to decide to your point. It's going to be matchup dependent. If they go up against a team that can scheme or just straight up protect or block their front four, I don't think that they've got to figure it out at the second and third level. That is why this defense to me is like to your point, it's like fickle. One week, we're going to see that they're going to come back and completely demolish somebody up front. The quarterbacks are not going to have enough time to attack their weaknesses in the secondary. They're not going to be able to force them to tackle on the second level.

All those guys will be protected if that D line can win. A lot of good teams normally have figured that out. That's the worrying part for the bangles going forward. This week has like 5 absolute bangeries of games that we'll just work in a focus on. Rams Eagles. These teams are really interesting to me. And I just want to start here and we're getting to the games, the matchup, etc. I know I know like an Eagles Twitter, the sky is falling, but what else is new there?

But like which of these teams do you think is getting too much of the benefit of the doubt for how they've played so far this season? I mean, I think I agree with you. If you look at what the Eagles have done so far, especially defensively and I'm shocked and appalled at the number of blown coverage from veteran like you just look at their, look at all the man coverage cut ups. And there's like four or five times where a guy just is cut loose. And it's like this, we're not looking at a bunch of rookies, which I guess maybe Christian Parker is was the best secondary coach ever because like they just blow coverage and it's man. Like it's not like some confusing concept. If you put one of them is on it like was playing zone half the time like a treat, recoil and thought they were playing zone after the entrance. I was about to say mean this is the you know this recoil and experience.

And he just that he just am done to Dominique's point. The state will say these are a legitimate issue. Dijin. It's going to be a real step back for civil rights when he has to go safety. I think he's been hurt. I've heard that so he but he looks a step slow. I thought I was shocked by Zach Bond in this last game. So he had to rule it out the bad penalties and a couple of busts. But like it was a problem. I could not believe how badly they handled motion in that game. And then you look at the schedule and you see the Rams coming up next who are like the motion offense and they got to get this figured out quick because you asked the Charlie's question was who gets them in a for the doubt. The Rams have been missing their best offense of player and their best defense of player. I'm not saying that they deserve to be seen as a super team and all that. But like there's a pretty legitimate excuses for them. Well, that's I think it's one of the interesting. What are the Eagles excuses? Yeah. Well, I think it's actually one of the interesting things about the Rams is that like there's a shroud of uncertainty about when and what we're going to get from their best players

when they come back. Just because the words degenerative, like trying to be preventive about that condition from I was Garrett who could miss six, eight weeks coming out of it. Pukin to Kua. We don't know why exactly why it's not responding the way we thought is a sports tournament. Is it a groin? I know he's back to practicing. And he's likely going to play this week. But I think the expectation of a scary too because it's like a question around surgery that pops up like. I don't know. I need that to be definitive. Either you need it or you don't. One thing before we get to the Rams stuff, just so Dominique, you know this. There's a senior cornerback who could be a highly drafted guy named John, not John Nester who's a white guy for Minnesota who has like the JJ McCarthy haircut. Like he's got the same Cooper to do with JJ. All right. Well, to be clear, we'll be good. To be clear, me and Riley had a talk. We put Coup out a while ago. Okay. He don't play on the outside. He's a slot, not a gadget. He's a slot corner, which is fine. That is a step forward. He might be the only white slot corner, but he's like a big nickel.

This is tough. This guy's 6 1 2 10. My feet, that is called a future safety. Yeah. Well, I can't believe you just conquered like Cooper to Jean. You can go now. No, no, no, no, no, I would love for Cooper to stay. He could stay. You got to move outside and get with my man, Riley, play man coverage, all damn game long. Get absolutely toasted. No, not a month feel. I'm done with you. All right, back to, so don't pick on my boy. Back to the ramps. You just jogging down the field. We have company. We have company. Okay, good. We have company. They were zero coverage, double move. It's not allowed. Not allowed. The blitz got to get there. That's on you. I'm trusting you to get home. Get home. I'm jumping this. Get home. You got me mad for real. Anyway, okay, back to the ramps. Sorry, Mina. The ramps. Yeah. The ceiling is so high because they are to me. It's point they play without to future Hall of Famers that are playing in their prime. And they still like our competitive against teams that we think are good like the Broncos.

And they, I mean, that's one of those games. They got to be scammed out of the Broncos. Yeah, but I mean, yeah, if they get the play call right, we're having a totally different conversation about ramps. Yeah. Right. And whether they win or lose that problem, yes, Terri. Totally. Where they win or lose that Broncos game is like, it's a, it's a one score game. Those go either way like the point is they play them to a draw without their best two players. And so like the question to your point is when these players come back, if they come back, how good will they be? If they're anywhere close to their good version, the thing that we dreamt about the ramps being, it might actually come to fruition. If you get a full Pukinakua and a full version of Miles Garrett. And honestly, I kind of feel like the Miles Garrett stuff might be more impactful. Would he could do for that defense? Like, I know how valuable I did. Oh, I thought you were looking at me like I was wrong. I know how valuable Pukin is, but like, I feel like there are ways to scheme and manufacture offense that you can't quite do on defense. There's no way that you can manufacture the type of impact that a Miles Garrett can have.

Doesn't it feel like we almost underrated like that that he's just been gone? He's played like a part of a game. This entire season where him being there wouldn't have changed the all the way. The offense looks right now. This offense lives and dies by whether or not Matthew Stack was under pressure, which it was last year, but it was this is a more extreme version of that. His blitz are incredibly dramatic. If you can get him to third down, you can beat this offense. If you can, there's been, I texted Dominique about this because the Broncos did some interesting stuff in terms of blitzing their early downloads when they were under center at the play action. I think we're going to see more of that. But I don't think Pukinakua would have made a difference in that regard, right? If they're going up against a team with a really good pass rush, yes, he helps. He's also helpful in the 11 personnel run game, which I think we will see a lot of against Philadelphia, by the way, but that's just it with the offense. Miles Garrett is a transformative player on defense when he's healthy. That's a wildly different pass rush. So I'm with you Dominique. When he returns, if he looks like himself, that's a game changer. Yeah. So I mean, I think the Rams deserve someone to benefit it out that we're offering him.

The Eagles are getting some benefit of the doubt that I mean, I guess their defense deserves to benefit it out, but it's been enough weeks of bad defense that I'm like, nah, like to hug Campbell, you mentioned a lot of guys. He's gotten hooked to how a Campbell man is getting torn up and he's not like that. It looks like he looks like a rookie. He's not. No, so I guess it's the benefit of that for different things. It's the ceiling because like I said, obviously the Rams are really good, regardless. They're a good football team. They're going to be well coached. And to me, obviously, me and a tier point like a so much of it's going to fall on Safar and how that offense plays. The Eagles won like, I don't know if they're a good team, but I still think they're probably going to win the NFC East, which is like, it's just like kind of a different thing that they're getting the benefit of the doubt for. Does that make sense? I mean, that's that's about that. Yeah, I was going to say that's a criticism of the NFC East. Can I throw out a theory to you guys? Don't you think Jerry Jones was watching my deny football and was like, less trade for a quarter. We can win this division. Absolutely.

Meena, we were at dinner last night and I don't know if you've seen this flowing around the internet. There's a theory that there's a body double for Jerry Jones and he's like, because he's been so quiet, he's actually has, it's like a melani situation. He's not there. I think it's real. Anyway, Jerry Jones very much alive. But I don't believe in the Cowboys defense. Yeah, yeah, the Cowboys defense is not better. We're talking about the Rams Eagles. Yeah, the Eagles. I think they're still like the thing is, Dvontes. He's got to be a next game. Dvontes is great. He of all, when you watch these games, you're like, he's really good. He could have been a number one this entire time. We all know that, but like seeing it in practice without AJ Brown is impressive and is super impressive that he's doing it while the offense still kind of sucks. And he's jumping off the screen like, I know this office isn't good. But that guy feels like they're offense for the rest of it.

She just feels so stale. I know we talked about this early in the week. They aren't blocking the run the way they have, certainly not two years ago, but even compared to last year. And there's sometimes where it's like, I don't even think Sequon looks fine. It's like the offensive line looks like it's because they've got a cowboy collar on. You can't respect the running back what it got. He looked down the first half, man. He was running and they just started those early down pressures and they didn't have any answers for it because their screen game sucks. Which is the same player too. I mean, you ever do this is like, it's probably a fruitless exercise, but I ended up doing it by mistake because I was like separating all of Hertz good passing plays like successful plays from unsuccessful plays to see if I could like figure out something, some sort of differential there. And what I ended up realizing was it's really just about pressure. Like when Hertz is not under pressure, he looks incredible. It is under pressure. It's like it's varied. Yeah. And that's that goes blows down to the point for them is like that's he's that type of quarterback

that you have to be able to protect him and support him when you don't he. And there's some plays where it's magical break tackles or whatever, but that's not a consistent offense. And yeah, I think when he's under pressure, but he knows what his rest read is that like when they kind of stopped the blitz a couple years ago. And then that's this bears game. There was a couple blitzes that he took into face and completed a pass. But you're right. When he has a he's clear about his decision making. So like the bears Dennis Allen started in the second half really aggressively. I alluded to this blitzing their under center looks. And that's something we're seeing around league a lot more by the way. The Broncos did it to Matthew Stafford too. Obviously multiple times with telenoho Fonga, but it completely nuked the run game. And then Hertz would turn his back and just a guy in his face and then suddenly you're in second and longer, whatever. So that actually I feel like is on Sean Manion more than Jalen Hertz to solve because that's something I think they're going to see more of in both the run and the past game. And he's got to find solutions. Yeah. I'm kind of lemon is 38 yards this year.

Not enough. Yeah, I don't think they've fixed the middle of the field past the game in Philly. Anyway, next game Cowboys Texans Jerry Jones very much alive. Do you think that this game is about the teams, both these teams strengths or their weaknesses? To me, it's obviously about the weaknesses. I feel like the deciding factor for me is which one of their bad units is going to prevail. And I don't know which bad unit is the worst. And so like if you don't know like the Texans unit is the offense. They aren't very good. And the Cowboys defense is just as bad as they were last year with new people though. It's like they got new players everywhere, new coordinator. And they're still pretty bad at defense. And I don't see where the answer is I know Nico's Nico Collins is coming back for the Texans this week. But who knows? The receivers have been so bad. Like last two weeks, CJ strad 17 for 41 trying to throw the ball to his receivers. Where it's just like in some of the obviously a ton of those are drops and it leads to

frustrations and that fact alone that Nico's Collins is coming back. Like I guess if I'm looking for something makes me lean towards the Texans. But of course, I don't know what what level Nico will be at. That that was the decisive factor for me. I said if Nico plays, I'll pick the Texans. Because I will remind folks the first week of the season when Nico played against Buffalo. This offense was moving it. CJ Stroud is playing really well. I think the offensive line is often run blocking still, but they look decent in past protection. You know, not that Buffalo's defense is great shakes, but neither is Dallas, of course. So I just feel like with Nico, the way the quarterbacks playing, they'll be enough for them. You assuming the other side is a bit of a wash. And if not, if Nico doesn't play or if he's limited, they'll probably lose. I'm going to tell you, I'm going to tell you guys this. Like if the Texans can't move the ball against this Cowboys defense, Nico Collins or no, Nico Collins, I'm so out, dude. Like you were like a trendy Super Bowl pick team.

This it would be disgusting. It would be repulsive. I would be livid. Yeah. I already did that to the Cowboys because the Cowboys had me all believe in they fixed everything and I was already. The same thing. Cowboys defense and that doesn't play well against the Texans offense. Yeah. I mean, I think that this is a loser leaf town like both of these guys were unserious about, unserious teams that they can't succeed against these opponents. Porter Jr's back miraculously healed. Very nice. A love of money back down and touched him. So he's played that's, but it's interesting. He's playing this week. Yeah. That's awesome. So ostensibly you would be on Collins. If I'm Houston, I'm putting Nico in the slot a lot or I think he's great anyways. And daring them to, if they're going to, I don't think they'll move Porter Jr. in to put him up against him. So I would try to play the matchup game with Collins if I'm Houston. Yeah. It's no way they can move him and just like that because I feel like he's not a,

he's not like an inside player and the schemes get more sophisticated or at least the responsibility is getting more varied in there. In an outside corner, you don't just up and go to a new team and play Nico. But I guess if it's man, you can follow him anywhere. On the other side, do you think that like we saw Josh Allen create a bunch of explosives against Houston's defense in week one? Like do you see that for DAC in this game? Like I, with Pickens and Lam, like I know Pickens hasn't totally got going yet, but like it's, it's there. It's going to happen at some point this season is like, is this a week where those guys could actually find success down the field? I don't see why not. Like I think that the, the, the DAC, the thing that DAC does really well. Of course he's like the seam route guard and he attacks, which they play a decent amount of cover three. So you'll attack the hell out of that stuff. They are do what we do type of defense. So I don't see why DAC can't create explosive plays, but I guess I do see why. It's the edges. Depends on how they compensate for the past rush edges. If they can protect those guys or if they stay, if they're able to attack deep down

field on early downs and run downs, I think that can potentially create those plays. And they keep this score close enough that they have a two way go. I think they'll be fine, but that past rush kills the tackles they're done. No, I was looking for the last time Dallas, if, because sometimes when DAC faces really elite past rushes, he just goes super paper cut, quick time to throw, try to mitigate it with his brain. But and I was looking because he's done that against New York. I thought for some reason he had done it against Houston, but the last time they played him, it looks like it was Cooper rush. So it's not pertinent. But I think like to Charlie your initial question, the deep offices have seen. That's how you beat them, right? Like this, we've seen that you have to be aggressive. You can't play the game that they want you to play of Dink and Dunk. And I think he's going to have to. Yeah, they have the capability. The offensive line, despite the absence of their guard, their best player has been OK. But I do feel like they're going to have to find ways to manufacture time for DAC the way that the teams with.

Buffalo, it was a lot of, you know, putting bodies back there, chips, moving Josh Allen, Joe burrow hit almost all of his explosives like on the move, extending. Dallas is going to have to figure out a way to do one of those things. But you know, that's on Brian Shaw and Imer. One other thing about this, Marcus Mosher tweeted out like that Dallas is, you know, I think yet their second end points per drive this season. And his theory was that now what Joe reported junior Dallas should play much more aggressive on defense and just trying up the amount of possessions and that works in their favor. Dominique, is that like, is that something you think that they should do is this like a team that adds high variance. It makes them with the way how good this offense can be. It makes them way more dangerous. Yeah. I mean, I feel like we talked about this, this off season when we were talking about them. And he put some numbers to it. But the bottom line is you want to get, and we talked about it with the, um, the bear is also is like, if you don't think you have the answer defensively, then you want to get your offense on the field as many times, which you're

essentially saying is like, um, we are better here. So let's get it on the field as many times we play aggressive on the other side because if you score on us, that's fine. The worst thing you can do is what the giants did to them. Yeah. Is where they keep the ball away from us. We think that deck in our offense will be more effective more times than you, in your offense are. So like I, I think that's fine, especially if you start hitting on some of those gambles. The problem with that is you have to be sound. You know, you don't have to be good, but you have to be sound before you can gamble because like there's no way to be an aggressive defense. If you can't stop the run, like that was the thing against the, the giants is like, yeah, we can blitz all we want. But if they push us back, like we're not going to create the turnovers, you have to win on first down to get into these situations. You can blitz to stop the run, but they weren't able to do that either. So yeah, it's, it's never a bad idea to be more aggressive on defense if you have the offense that they have. That makes sense. We talked a lot about this chiefs offense and how much better they look being able to run the football. But one of the things that's notable is that my home has been like really, really effective during the deep ball, but he's still it. He doesn't throw it a ton. It's still it's everything's flowing out of the run here. Do you think that this offense is going to be is like continually evolving and we're going to get more vertical game from them or is this like sort of a fully formed thing of who the chiefs are? I think that the personnel will always limit that to some degree. I just don't think Xavier Worthy is ever going to be live up to his draft capital and reputation. You know, I mean, I think Thornton has better chemistry with my homes,

but this isn't I'm it's funny because there are rumors about Tyree kill joining them. They don't have the sort of deep throughout receiver that will lead to an incredibly prolific and productive. Increasingly, I believe the deep ball is as much of a receiver stat if not more than a quarterback stat. When you look at the quarterbacks who are really, really good at it, they have receivers who are extremely good at tracking it. So while I do think there's going to be more opportunities from a homes and he's playing really, really well and because of the play action game clicking that opens up things, certainly opens up yards after the catch and space over that, you know, it'll be better than it's been, but the receivers are still limited to some degree and you know, it's a specific archetypes that just make me doubt that. Can I interest you in some Brian Thomas Jr. Maybe man, I mean, he's not being used at all like that feels like if he's just going to run clear out routes in Jacksonville, like he can do a type one Thornton does. But if you're Jacksonville, do you do that? You're a super bowl contender. Do you trade him to an AFC team? I don't know man.

He just immediately starts torching people with my homes. I don't know. The thing about the Chiefs offense is while it's not explosive, I guess I'm wondering if like you, I wanted to be explosive and of course we all are believed that explosive plays have to happen and they get him on the running game. And with, and with, and with Rack. Yeah, and with, yeah, yards after the catch, but I don't watching them has felt like they're playing chess for a long time now where they don't really feel like they want to be aggressive and then you look at like the effectiveness of their offense. It's like, yeah, it's still at least this year. It's still really effective. I think maybe I'm arriving at the same places. Meena just going about it a different way. It's like, no, I kind of don't think they're ever going to be that, or not ever, that they're going to be that offense at this point this year. I know we made the, we started to talk about Kenneth Walker's impacts might lead to opening up more effective deep passes, but I'm not even sure that they're

trying to blow the roof off the way that they were in the pass. And maybe it's because they recognize that they don't like Tariq's, it's a Hall of Fame level talent. Yeah. Like it's okay to be like, we can't do that anymore. I was just going to say, Charlie, there's a second in a third in EPA per play and fourth in yards per play. It doesn't matter. This offense is absolutely good enough. Right? Like this is, and that really, that doesn't ask you is like, did you think Kenneth Walker had the same with how he was using Seattle? Through the early parts of the season, he's been better than he ever was in Seattle. And it's funny because I thought he would go to Kansas City and like the interior of the offensive line is better. And that would maybe get him more, you know, obviously more room to run and his numbers might look better. But when I watch him, it's not like he's getting incredible blocking. He's right now to me the most creative back in football. Like he is forcing so many missed tackles. And it's cool to watch. I do worry a little bit about the sustainability of it, though for that reason, right? Like this is a run game

where the back is very much the engine of it at the moment. But he looks awesome. And right now, it definitely looks like one of the best free agent signings of the entire off season. Do you miss him? Well, I mean, the T-hawks drafted a back in the first round. He can't hold it. Don't even use him at the goal line. He fumbled at the beginning of the commander's game. And then they gave him two carries after that. So I know like there's a, I'll take that as a yes. You miss him. Well, it's it's also just like I'm very much so questioning the draft pick and how the Dairy and Price has been used right now. But yeah, still early. Yeah, that was an awesome game. Should we talk? We didn't mention the Raiders all about this. Downing, one of the conversations we were having before the show was just about Brock Bauer's and like, like you watch him and he doesn't feel like any other tight end in the NFL with how easily it seems like he can get open and they can feed him the football. And you know, Orlovsky went on TV and

said that he plays a lot like Pukinakua. There's so much to talk about this Raiders team because I don't know if they're probably not like they're three and oh now, but they're not like an elite elite team. But what we think of them has changed significantly. And I just wonder what you think about like Bauer's and that offense and this. Their defense created a bunch of turnovers. And I think their defense has been like one of the driving forces or the probably bigger driving force than their offense in their early season's success. But Bauer's is back now for the first game. And he looks great on offense. And the Puka comparison to me seems more apt than like the JSN comparison that everyone was making prior to that because like the he might be running similar routes to Jason. However, I don't think you can build an offense around a Titan as a number one receiver. If that makes sense, like you can build an offense around a running back. You can build an offense around a Titan. You can build an offense around a true number one receiver. But I don't think you can build an offense around a true number one receiver. If he's a Titan. Maybe

that's me being narrow minded and it but like like I think a drunk as a Titan that that offense was somewhat built around. That's because he was a hell of a blocker and a hell of a contested catch winner. But for Brock Bauer's to essentially replace JSN in the offense, that's the thing that throws me off. So they could potentially build an offense around Brock Bauer's. But it's really hard for me to accept it. Then building offense around him where he split out and he's in the slot. Because that's what they're doing with him. Go ahead, man. Go ahead. No, no, I've been thinking about this all week, right? Because so I said on and if I live on Monday that like they're using him like prime Kelsey, I wasn't actually comparing the players. I was talking about his utilization, right? Which is a little put them on the backside. Yeah. Like a three by one or and and in the same game he was cooking corners. Yeah. Corners pardon me. To Dominic's point though, the question, can you build a passing attack around an elite pass catching tight end as opposed to a complete tight end all on kit ear, Kittle? I cannot f'ing wait for this team to play the Denver Broncos.

Oh, you cook Kool-Aid in the Kins-Tree? Yeah. Yeah. Cook Sanker in the slot. Okay. Yeah. Give me PS2. And let's see how this plays out of it. Because I don't actually haven't fully decided. Like I just think that it's like I think he's just unbelievable. But I think that will like kind of test your premise. You know what I mean? Like which is like how much can you put on a single tight end split out? So I can't wait for that game. I could be wrong, but I fully decided that Brock Barras can be an incredible weapon and they can find a way to build an offense around him. But you cannot build a successful offense around a tight end playing as a receiver. They have to do something else. But like the concept, this arrived here because they're like he's running a JSN routes. He's going to put up JSN numbers. That's a good move like that. Like you just can't. And as he is incredibly athletic for a tight end, he's not a receiver. Right. And then of course, like 2018 and 2012, he had Tyree Kilt, right? So like to tell he's unbelievable. He's one of the

best to ever do it. He's first ballot hall of Vamer. But there's a missing component in this offense. And that's the thing is just because you refuse to change his designation and the media guide doesn't mean that the opponents won't change the way that they think about treat and prepare for him. This was his first game back. Let him keep doing this. When they start game planning for him, you're going to be like, all right. But JSN can freak these guys who they double cover no matter what they do. I don't think that tighted. I just don't like that. That's a quarterback. Someone didn't like watching corners get cooked by the tight end. I was I was in the face. I was in the face. It would also to be fair. He's great. It would also help if their top 10 pick running back could average more than 3.3 yards. We were talking about explosive players around. I mean, I feel like I'm coming across as very negative rock barrows, which I'm not. I really believe in rock barrows. And I think he's super talented. However, if you're going to treat him like a receiver

as a coach and then the defense start treating him like a receiver, you have to be as good at doing receivers as receivers are. That's right. That's what the Pugat comparison is interesting. Right. I think that shattered your ceiling of what you thought that type of receiver could be last you. Well, too. Also took another let like another step. Right. Yeah. In terms of his route running, his dad feels like, but again, like to Dominic's point, like we're having this conversation because the question isn't can is Brock Barrow is one of the best. If not the best position. It's what doesn't mean for your wide receiver one to be a tight end. Thus far, we've seen it means you can beat corners. Can you beat elite corners? That's why I was like saying, I'm so excited for like some of these upcoming matchups. But like, and can you be double teams? He can beat Lajerius. I don't I'm not saying he can't win in those situations. I think it's the JSN comparison because that offense was so predicated on the explosives created by JSN, which were deep down field explosives. And that's what I'm thinking is like, we can't do that. And JSN also like JSN is like,

yeah, I think he looks like the best. Yeah. Yeah. Oh, for sure. So we yeah, we have a no. It's pretty clear. And I yeah, and I also think that like the the the value of having an awesome pass catch and tight in is multiplied by him actually playing tight in is like if if you treat him in the way you treat him last week, or you just put him in a slot and you put him outside, you put him around, we go and treat him like a like a receiver. Have him come on the back field. Well, but the Raiders have an extremely good all around tight end and Mike Mayer. That's what makes it so interesting, right? Like, I think if they didn't actually that would be very limiting to what they can do. But they're rolling out in their it's funny. It's similar to Puka where when he would come out there, they would actually call it 11 and a half personnel. That's kind of what the Raiders are right now. It's 11 and a half personnel, but they've got a tight end who is actually quite complete in Mayer and the combination of them can create some interesting matchup issues. I already know what's going to happen is he's going to have an incredible offense based on it. He got to cook those corners. And then you're going to come back and say see,

and I'm going to say he didn't run the routes that Jason ran. So it wasn't what I thought. And I'm going to hold on to that. So I'll always be right. And glad you we've already clipped it. Glad you're glad you're picking up on that one. That man, I just love watching the lead players. Like I was just giggling watching his. He's so good. It was also that was one of the ones like even beyond like watching the all 22 of it. Like during the actual broadcast. I like, all right, Bauer is lined up here in the slot. They're going to get him the ball on this play. And it was like clockwork. It was every single time. And he gets, he's coming back from knee surgery. So, Miniscus or Miniscus trim. He's awesome. Big pat and going on. No problem with that though. Yeah. I don't know. You got cooked by a little defunding. It's going to hurt your. I love that though too. What a doubt. It's just. You think you think Brock Bauer's moves as good as Devonte? Yes. Yes. I know. That's what I was going to say. I don't think it's the movement. It's the savvy little things. I think if they if they lined up to around 40, I think you'd be even 40. And pro pro agility, all the shuttle trails, you're going Bauer's. I don't know.

I do want to ask you about the Broncos. You're going to be so hurt by the way. If you get smashed up with Riley Moss and absolutely cooks him, that will be so. I won't be hurt. I won't be hurt because it won't happen, Riley. Locking them down. So Broncos 49ers. The last game we want to talk about. I'm just I'm just I saw this tweet that said that Bonyk sucks. I just can't prove it yet. And I don't know to say about this Broncos team because like I there were like I knew all the one score game data from last year. I thought that like that will regress. But like I think they're a better team this year, et cetera, et cetera. But I watched this. They just feel like a slightly worse version of last year. And I'll just ask it. Are we are we aligned this the Broncos are their scam? I don't think the Broncos are a scam. I think that's too good. Come on. Yeah. I mean, I think the defenses Broncos offense a scam. The bro the defense is is really good. They're keeping them in the game, even without Cooper or they're keeping them in the game. But I mean, I guess in the game against the Jags in general. But yeah, this defense is no Jonathan Cooper.

There's a huge deal. Yeah. Second at Dr. Shirt feels like they I mean, I think I had higher expectations for the offense. And I think part of it is colored by the fact that there the last time I saw them last season, they were awesome. And like that normally only happens for the super bowl champ. And so like my memory of them was was Bo Nick's doing all the things that I said he couldn't do like in that game. He attacked the intermediate. It wasn't just screens and bombs. He was like seem like a like a really good quarterback that was hitting everything. And I thought we're bringing it all back. They added Waddle. And I was like this O lion is still back like I thought they be better than they are. But I still don't think they're a scam. They still have a lot of really good parts. But next isn't great. He's one of those quarterbacks that fits in the category where it's like just around them and you take care of him. He gonna play better. And you put too much pressure on him and ask him to do too much. It's not going to be great. The thing I don't love about this game for Denver is going back and watching there as I had a Cardinals against San Francisco reinforced

what I've been kind of thinking, which is this is still not a good run defense. Yeah. Problem is Denver for absolutely perplexing reasons despite having to cut off his lines. Still can't run the damn ball. If they had a even an average run game, I might be tempted to pick Denver here. But they can't they did that. And then you got to give Gronix a little bit of credit there. The run game being bad also makes life harder for him and leads to some of the things Dominique described. But they I was a little hopeful with Jonah Coleman. But then he got hurt and it's just from a matchup perspective. I think with San Francisco, I feel will feel good about teams that have good run games when they go up against them. But Denver just doesn't. I mean, is there any chance that we're wrong about the 49ers? Which part? Just I mean, I feel like we are all like feel like we owed 49ers a lot more respect than we had given them because of their start. Doesn't it feel like a health question though with like so much of it? So doffens games don't count. Yeah, that's

what I mean. You got you got the Rams. I was asking you you guys love to just take credit away from my man, Brock. Here we go. We love Brock. We're all. It's all goes back to that 49ers. 49ers Ravens game on like Christmas couple of years ago. Well, I mean, last three Cocks games literally last season, including I mean, you know, he was down everyone. I'm I am very excited to watch Brock Pretty against his Broncos defense. The other side of the ball I was talking about. But that to me is I think the prom for Denver again though is the Niners. I said like the Broncos don't run. So that doesn't align with the Niners weaknesses. The Niners strengths align with the Broncos weaknesses on defense. Although I got to say, tell him who Fonga. He comes away with one and I could complete save this because I could absolutely see him picking Brock Pretty in this game. And then that could change things a little bit. Yeah, he's a really smart player and I seem to take the risk. Yeah, I've grown to love him. I isolate him in coverage. It doesn't always look pretty. But like,

he's a smart player. He's found ways to compensate for it and make big play interceptions. But yeah, he's player to game and that is amazing. And last game, yeah, play after play after play. It's the Shanahan ball for the Niners versus Broncos. All right, that's enough football talk. Thanks, me and you're the best. Have fun. Thanks for having enjoyed the games this weekend.
