3:04We break down the first two weeks of the regular season but tonight at the flagship show what happened in week two Sunday? Dan Hanses, Mark Cecilor Conor or Justin Graver on the ones and twos. Wow. This was a wild Sunday, Sessie. A wild one indeed. It was. I think each week looks back at the previous week slash weeks and calls them liars as we gain more information. This was a little off. This was a little bizarre today. I thought in an enjoyable way but like I mean the results are just all over the map. I don't know if we're flipping coins up in football god territories at this point. I don't know what they're doing. I'm left I'm left at a loss. I enjoyed it but I am left at a loss with some of the results in what I witnessed. Conor, how you feeling? I need four weeks. Like I just I wish we could start in week four. That's the sample size that most coordinators work off of when they're doing their tendencies

4:05during the week and head coaches when they look back at their opponents. And so that's what you know you can't not have a show for the first four weeks of the season but week four I'm going to feel really good about all this. Yeah, I could count maybe four or five, some of the shocking outcomes that occurred today. So we're going to go through as we always do every single game and thank you for joining us for the flagship program. Let us start today a game that was hyped up all week as a battle between an offensive genius and a defensive mastermind. Ben Johnson versus Brian Flores. One side got the better end of that but it was unfortunately an injury that became the biggest story coming out of that game to soldier field we go. Vikings lead nine three final play of the game. Agent takes the snap Vikings rush five turner push he pushed Lovelin into Beijing and now you can go home. The Minnesota Vikings have won seven in a row at soldier field the final score nine three.

5:13No, baby. Go figure. Score 59 points one Sunday three the next. What in the hell Paul Allen with the call Vikings radio network KFAN. Dallas Turner threw down Tyson Beijing in the game for an injured Caleb Williams. It was the decisive play and a nine three win for the Vikings now two and a two and a three. So and they continue to do the thing at soldier field as you heard there seven straight wins. Four sacks for Minnesota who as we expected Mark blitzed constantly in this game. I believe close to 80% once again similar to last week and William struggled with it. Beijing obviously couldn't get going and push that final score into the end zone but they kind of a shocking outcome here with the Vikings defense and Flores being the big victor. Yeah, I think when you look back at week one you're thinking, you know, I'm trumpeting the bears

6:17as a team that like could they be one of the best offenses that we have ever witnessed. Now you lose Caleb Williams in this game. Obviously we can get into that but I mean, you know, I think it could become a bit right each week when we talk about Brian Flores filling the versus fill in the blank coach or coordinator. But it's not though because this I think might have been one of the best performances by Brian Flores of his career and like if this guy's not a head coach next year, I know that that's controversial for some teams but it shouldn't be what he did today and how he got his players to play against this bears offense was masterful and it's every week it's guys like Dallas Turner's had two great weeks in a row. It guys like Andrew Van Ginkel guys like you know stepping up like the Viking secondary in general, the red zone defense. Jalen Redmond like they just completely got the job done and I it was before Caleb Williams went out of the game as well. I mean, this was a master work by one of the greatest defensive minds in the game and he does it week after week like he saves the Vikings when they only score

7:21nine points on offense and they're they're dealing with their own backup quarterback scenario. But Brian Flores keeps getting it done week after week and I think he's the biggest difference in the entire NFC North. So that play that the radio call depicted watch that and you can see Brian Flores in a nutshell, right? You had Dallas Turner who like Mark said has been on a heater the last two weeks being blocked one on one by Colson Loveland who is the worst of the two bears blocking tight ends right or worst at blocking of the two bears tight ends and then you have the bears best offensive lineman on the other side of the field blocking nobody and this is just what he does it is I've heard it described to me as a scrambling of communication. He just gets into the offense and just pulls all the wires out and even when Caleb Williams was in that game, the amount of work he had to do to gain four yards like I think he had one of the coolest four yard gains that I've ever seen in this game, but the amount of effort that it took him just to scramble out of the pocket and gain four yards was unbelievable. I mean the Vikings only ran 51 plays in this game.

8:25They gained 246 yards of offense. Neither team crossed 300 yards of offense. When's completed just 11 passes. He did get help in his running game. Aaron Jones is like a very spy version of himself early on. He goes over 100 yards to keep the moving on some level. But yes, it was doing just enough and then the defense with timely stops. They get a huge massive game swinging DeAndre Swift first and goal fumble at the goal line when it looked like the bears are about to punch it in and kind of get this game under control and take the lead. That doesn't happen and you get an interception of Caleb Williams when again, Flores brings the pressure and Williams rolls out right and it kind of reminded me of his rookie year where it was like yes, you can do this but should you do this Caleb and he tried to whip one in there and it was picked off. So they did a great job taking advantage of turnovers when they could and the offense while not special stayed out of the way and let the defense win the game. Here's Carson once afterwards.

9:29Yeah, you guys are two and only. Yeah, it's fun. Football is fun. Football is fun. It's been an interesting offseason for me personally and everything but you know I knew I was here for a reason. I knew if I called upon I could help this team win games and the teams rally. The teams rally, the defense is rally. I've just tried to just steer the ship and not do anything crazy. You know, just play my game and the guys have rallied around me which has made it fun and it's fun to come out too and all these left to me. Charisma machine that Carson went. Now here's the Caleb Williams situation. He left without right hamstring injury midway through the fourth quarter. Kind of a shock fell over soldier field. It was a rainy, miserable day there. He's carted out. It was a non-contact injury. He's got the towel over his head and I think me and a lot of other people are thinking did he just blow as a kill is he gone for the year is he done right and I think Caleb Williams even caught himself on that a little bit because as he's heading toward the tunnel with the towel over him, he kind of realizes I need to change the morale here. He whips the

10:29towel off his head and starts like in you know giving thumbs up to the crowd and getting him all fired up. So the reports afterwards are that it is not an Achilles. It's a hamstring and some pre-limit preliminary reports suggest that it might not be a serious hamstring. Here was Ben Johnson after the game. Yeah, I just saw him second ago. He's in good spirits and team player. Yeah, I mean you could kind of see him real time. I'm actually happy it's nothing with the knee. You know, that was my first inclination but yeah, the hamstring could be pretty damaging as well. So we'll see we'll see how bad it is tomorrow and you know, we'll go from there but yeah, it's it's quickly you got to turn the page and particularly when you're right there, we need to point desperately at that point and you know, no, it's fine. That wasn't that wasn't scary. That was very informational from a head coach. Any other thoughts on this game boys? Well, so Mike Floreo just recently before we jumped on here called it what sounds like a grade one hamstring. So

11:35basically it's like the bear season is over or it's not over and I mean, it's about the best news they can get on a very rough Sunday that that's the situation. It's incredible news, right? The way he looked, he was being carried off the field Connor and then put on a card. He's got the talo reset and now we're learning two or three hours later that it is the it is the least serious hamstring strain. So I'm sure they're going to play it smart. You probably will see badgent next week but this does not sound like a long-term injury. So great news for the bears. That's what you take out of this game. An interesting moment incoming for Ben Johnson because I looked this up and in 2022, 23, 24, he almost exclusively used Jair Gough. There were no situations where almost no situations where you saw backup quarterback on the field at all. I think in two of those three seasons that he was the offensive coordinator, the second most passing attempts were the punter for the Detroit Lions, right? He had incredible health. And so you look at what Sean McVay did, Kyle Shanahan did, Kevin O'Connell. They made their bones as the elite play callers and the NFL by

12:39having those seasons where something went wrong and you had Mac Jones and you had Carson Wens and you had the pastor not and all these random guys that are coming through. This has been Johnson's chance to say I can still dial it up with an undrafted former undrafted rookie free agent out of Shepherd College. You know, a beautiful college. What a what a place that is. I love shepherd. What a party school. But let's just before we go on, you got to give ton of credit to the Vikings here. It's not just not just the defensive coordinator like the whole team. You're playing with your backup quarterback who is Carson Wens as we as we know. Kyler Murray was not cleared obviously for this game. Sounds like he could be back next week. You don't have your number one running back either. Jordan Mason, he's on injured reserve with a thumb injury. You go to Chicago and beat that team when they were just like flying high. A huge win for the two and O Vikings and we'll see what comes next. All right, let's move to Houston where the super bowl favorite Texans in the eyes of many

13:45continue to struggle out of the gate. Unbelievable. 32 yard touchdown reception. He's in contortion. The body control. The concentration. That one's dragon. What a play. One of the better catches. Yeah, you'll see. Connor Oars SI profiles aging like spoil. The old SI jinx. The Cincinnati bangles. Our two and O how about that? We all talk about stop making life hard on yourself. Get out of the gates. How about you go to Houston and you ball out and for the second straight

14:46week, it's your defense that defines your victory 20 to six over the Texans and yes, Jamar Chase, we talked about this on the Thursday show. When he was shut out in week one, don't be surprised. He's so damn good. If he just takes over his next game and he did with two touchdowns, including that catch, which again, there's a short list of receivers ever who can make that catch. And Jamar Chase happens to be one of them, which is good news for Joe Burrow, who manages a back issue. Justin that it was a tight back, but he plays through it. But it's the defense that stars for the bangles. No doubt about it. It's crazy too because Houston actually was able to move the ball in this game pretty well. I don't know why it's funny. I got to start somehow. I haven't been off screen. No, because it's just like it's your only person on our show. Let's just go over the mechanics. I mean, you drafted the game. Okay, you know that the way we work, I set it up, then I'll throw it to the person who drafted the game and I tee you up directly.

15:47You don't have to hit the grave during their drop because I already threw it to you. Fair. This show is a little different, Justin, than your normal jump in from left field appearance. And like I do question why Justin is the only individual with a sound effect, a glamorous sound effect every time he speaks. We don't know unless he's interrupting me with a sound effect of some other nonsense. There was a time where you guys would pretend to not even hear me if I didn't hit the drops. So now I'm confused. Don't listen to the outsiders on this one. Justin, the drop is needed when it's needed. In this case, it isn't get into the game. What'd you think? So the Texans outgain the Bengals 374 yards to 267. I think the score is a little deceiving. Like this wasn't a, I mean, it was a 14 point win, but it didn't feel like a two touchdown win. The Texans defense was also getting after burrow. They brought him down five times in this game. But the Bengals defense came up with clutch stops when they needed it the most. They had a fourth and inches,

16:50rush attempt by David Montgomery, the Dexter Lawrence just swallowed and they turned it over on down deep in Bengals territory. They had a botched field goal deep in Bengals territory. They had a missed 50 plus yard field goal. Like if you add all those things together and you convert in those situations, it's a close game. And then when it was getting out of hand and it was getting down to the last chances. Stroud gets pulled down and tries to throw it away in its intentional grounding. And it's like there's the defense coming up with another big play. So it was not so much like smothering. It was like timely stops when they really needed it. So it's two weeks. So this is one where I can say you could say you see some stacked evidence of a unit that's changed because last week, they victimized the bucks with four takeaways off fumbles. Baker Mayfield had a bunch of those. And then this happens today. You hold them to see hold the text into 60 yards on the ground. Dexter Lawrence looks like a trade that absolutely works. You're not missing tray Hendrix in the way that you might you feel they might. They look

17:51like a different defense and a team that starts typically one in three or two and four and it's like get out of your own way for once. Here they are two and oh and that is an impressive win on the road here in week two against what we thought are is a super bowl team in the Texans. I remember talking to a head coach of a team a couple years ago who had a terrible defense. And the complaint the central complaint is that when your rushing game is non-existent, it's very, very hard to sustain a great defense. And this is exactly what we're seeing in Houston. I think it was eight carries for eight yards for Woody Marks and then six carries for ten yards with David Montgomery on drives where they started with a rush. The success rate was 40%. That means that you know they're leading to a situation where they're going to get a new set of downs. This is just an embarrassing state of affairs for the running game and for the past

18:53protection they were getting clowned both tackles in this game and I would pay attention to what Domingo Ryan is saying about the running game in post game press conferences because when this guy gets hot and decides he's done with something on offense changes tend to happen. You know talked about it in the preview and it just so happened bad timing but I talked up Nico Collins and how great he looked in week one and how this could be the year where he becomes just that dude in one of the top five ten receivers in the league he just has to stay healthy and then what happens during a midweek practice he pulls his hamstring he misses this game and you you can see it here like we've already down jaden Higgins the Whiteout group today without Higgins or Collins was Jared Wayne Xavier Hutchinson Jalen Noel and K. Sean Bouday Bouday and then you're targeting and he had a great game to his credit Dalton Schultz he went 12 for 140 in this game but the weapons are just not really there and if the running game isn't going to be where it needs to be it was

19:55last week of course but not today the offense looks very meager I guess the only the only positive to take out of it and I need to watch it so I'm not going to pass the judgment I'll throw to you Justin is sometimes when Stroud gets into these spots he'll just start throwing the ball for grabs and we've seen that in some of the playoff struggles at least he protected the ball for the most part and he was highly productive he threw for 353 yards today and you mentioned Schultz I mean he was looking for Schultz often I think you miss Nico Collins the most on third down the Texans converted five of 17 third downs and zero of four fourth downs that's not gonna you're not gonna win many football games like that and they didn't run the ball last week either by the way I mean David Montgomery had two touchdowns so fantasy owners were like yeah he's good but he had 60 yards on 20 carries so it's not like they've been able to run the ball this new newly made offensive line maybe it's one of those things where as the season progresses they'll start to gel better but right now it's not working and they're already missing guys like Wyatt Teller had to play

20:59Mark knows why it teller this week it because he had to step in for injury and he didn't he wasn't even a starter last week and he's kind of old and getting a little broken down in his body so it's tough spot for Houston by the way Montgomery had three touchdowns last week but yes his efficiency maybe wasn't there just his red zone prowess was two two rushing sorry one receiving one of us was a wild idiot who picked who locked the Texans and that would be me oh geez I you know what you guys I think I also in a different segment you asked me to predict the defense that would stun the nation and have a big bounce back and I picked the Texans nice so it's just like when you can come when it's Sunday early evening and you've already been defeated on multiple fronts it's an enjoyment all right well listen we're gonna get to some positive things in your life later in the show so don't don't take don't be too doubty I don't know any other thoughts on this game or can we move on let's move on all right the commanders and cowboys doing

22:03battle and another unfortunate quarterback injury here's Prescott go and see Kevin Burkhart with the call Tom Brady's in the booth there too and we'll get to Tom because he had a wild game in the booth it was like what is going on but Tom Brady but anyway that was the second CD-lamp touchdown in the game it also moved Dac all alone first place as the cowboys all time passing touchdown leader I that kind of surprised me so there's been some big names of cowboys history and Dac is above all of them after that last touchdown it was the icing on the cake for the cowboys who get off the mat after their ugly week one showing against the Giants they defeat the commanders 37 to 20 Dac was brilliant the offense which struggled so much against the Giants was

23:12completely locked in in this game even you know Dac did it without a running game they didn't move the ball that well on the ground but CD-lamp Jake Ferguson you know a summer hype bunny at two touchdowns in this game pickens was a little more quiet but Connor you know one thing I talked about in the summer and I I think people sleep on like how good CD-lamp is when he's healthy which he was never healthy last year it adds a different dynamic to this offense and it's interesting watching in the first two weeks how lamb has kind of taken back over that number one wide receiver roll yeah I mean it's it's similar to Jamar Chase right where he can make any catch at any time he was lining up out of the backfield in this game I think you know Clayton Adams them they've had some creative packages for him and the just the way that he can dictate coverage his body usage I think for a wide receiver is better than almost anyone in the NFL and so just to have two of those guys and then at some point pickens will have his games for sure but like better be soon you know what I mean but pickens might not have it might have an issue if it's not next week but we knew

24:16that going yeah right pickens is a better isolationist he's better when he's the only target on the field that's how he heats up and so I think that there was always probably healthy skepticism as to how the two of those guys would play together when clearly this is CD Lam's orchestra but again I think the running game is the thing that we have to keep our focus on and our eyes on because that was abysmal again and that's not going to do it for them in long term I don't really feel like they have that guy in the backfield I didn't feel that way last year and like um so you're imbalanced um you might have to deal with that a bunch but it does wipe away um it doesn't it feel like a refresher after last week to watch what they were able to do the fact that like yes this is a good offense um they're going to win games with their offense no matter what and the defense was a little better now they're they're playing the commanders and a commanders team Dan that lost the quarterback yeah that's the other big story in this game by the way I just want to shout out to Javante Williams who had two touchdowns last week and uh was over 1300 totally yards last year's I know he's not a star but he's no chop liver in the in the backfield for the Cowboys but anyway so

25:19yes David and Daniels uh just an absolute devastating moment at 1710 uh commanders on the Dallas one yard line with three seconds to play in the first half uh Daniels snaps the ball or left guard uh Chris Paul steps on Daniels's foot as he backs away from center and as Daniels goes to kind of steady himself using his uh non throwing elbow it bends the wrong way the same elbow that he hurt and think about it this is the type of hat trick you don't want he dislocated this elbow in week nine last season came back and then a week 14 aggravated it and they shut him down for the season and now in week two he dislocates it again he gets carted off the play ends with a um you know disaster incomplete pass and that was as close as the commanders that would ever get in the game and you just you just wonder now and we don't have an idea right now how serious it is although we know that this is not good it just you it just makes you wonder if surgery is on the table um or it's uh or if it's another you know extended absence and then uh he wears a big bulky brace like

26:25how are they going to handle this because clearly they miscalculated Mark how um serious the or act you know how chronic this elbow injury is it's messing up with his his whole career right now it's i mean it leaves me in a place where if i'm high up in that organization and building this roster like i have to be concerned about the year to year physicality of jaden danielson if he can survive um this brutal war that he's got to go through a game after game like i i just i don't know if he he doesn't look like certain quarterbacks that are much bigger like he's certainly um a lighter frame type of guy and this to have this repeat injury over and over i mean i think if your Marcus marry moira moira you're like i have to go do all this work now i thought i was going to get to see you and do nothing i already know that last year but the worst part of a conner is i thought Daniels look great before this play happened yes because he didn't look this way in week one but he was running with the ball he was throwing the ball downfield he was being dynamic so it was

27:26kind of cruel to see him struck down again this way news on pace for like 130 rushing yards in this game i need it 67 i think before he got injured but the interesting question that i think lingers now is that the first time daniel's dislocated his elbow he was in the game in a fourth quarter of a game where they were getting blown out by 31 points last year right and danquin kept him in the game but he said we took zone read off the table and then everyone's like well if the game was so bad that you took zone read off the table why is he in right now you fast forward to this one this is a fourth down decision where you know you're not getting the field goal you can't run a two second play but i thought based on the flow of the game and how everything was going a field goal would have been a perfectly acceptable decision there by danquin i wouldn't have accused him of folding in the wings there but i think that the chorus of daniel's mismanagement or daniel's being on the field when he doesn't need to be on the field is certainly growing to a point where it's got eerie rg three vibes to it right he's now exited four of his past five games with an in with an injury

28:30and then you it's all compounded by the defense has been really bad they've allowed seven touchdown receptions in the first two games four in this game from press got they get robbed by the officials on a what should have been a touchdown was it from mario to the brown i believe it was uh... where he made a really nice catch landed on his knee i i took my eyes out of it they went to breaks they were you know they threw the red flag and i just figured out this will be reversed and then i saw that they didn't give it to him but that didn't matter because they were never going to get the stops the the commanders let's face it they're in a lot of trouble their defense seems not ready to answer the bell and now the guy that's their x factor is back on the shelf i don't know what the argument for danquin is i i i i worry that this is i mean his whole i i'm not danquin apologist but like he goes through the nfc title game in his first season and now jayden daniel's can no longer stay on the field and now it's like here's a average to bad defense and a Marcus mario to lead offense it's like what are we what are we expecting now we're here already we're

29:35bet exactly by the way tom Brady i like i kind of like this and and Conner is going to share why this is kind of crazy and i was wondering right Conner was so like he's in text like slamming yeah text to us like who said the bad word who said the bad word um here's tom Brady when he saw in real time uh the the jayden daniel's elbow injury get stepped on the right guard foot i think comes over was that his center alebretti oh shit oh excuse me he's not expecting to see that i mean we're not not laughing at the jayden daniel's injury but you can't you can't use the brown word on broadcast television but tom Brady he doesn't really follow the rules Conner you had predicted in your season predictions column uh months ago that tom Brady would use the s word on a telecast which is pretty crazy before his first season is a broadcaster every i write uh a hundred days before the season i do a hundred bold predictions and number 19 was tom Brady will accidentally say the word shit

30:39will broadcasting an NFL game and when it happened i just i i i want i know him was home and i just wanted to tell someone i was just like looking around like this is one of the most monumental moments in my career highly impressive you are you're a savant that's who you are who ever said that counter or is a savant what happens to you if you drop the s bomb in that broadcast if you're tom Brady if you're just reading nothing right nothing nothing and nothing beyond that the producer doesn't even say anything because even later in the game and the cowboys finishing drive um there's a beautiful turkey shot i love that you sometimes you're working in the pivot on the line but sometimes quarterback drops back and he drops one over the corner back and before the safety you can get there that's called a turkey shot that ball lowers no that that's why i said it because i'm a ball no uh anyway besides the point tom Brady was very impressed by that throw and then he just lets this rip he doesn't give a shit absolute piss missile up the sideline samersville sticking

31:41banging that piss missile you guys i enjoy it and yet that was not the greatest broadcasting moment of this game oh yeah play that okay we got to get to this yes the last thing before we move on so unfortunately kobi derands down on the on the ground face down in the end zone and then he gets stomped multiple times by a teammate who's back paddling and unable to control himself one of those stomps like catches him in like the butthole or the balls or like the grondole area like his paint like it the whole it just gets stomps that whole undercarriage like the most sensitive area of a man sure um and let's listen to this part of the telecast see if we can see what happened on the play oh oh oh no explanation needed yeah hey hey hey take your time kobi yeah take a minute for all of us

Yeah 17 of 29 189 no touchdowns and interception and overall Jacksonville's offense was kind of held in check through this game they finished with just a let's see they finished with 268 yards of offense in this game Denver had nearly 400 and Cohen you could tell man he was feisty he got hit with a personal a personal foul for you so you could tell maybe I don't know if it's like the atmosphere everyone was just a little dragon ass but you could tell he was on one today. Yeah and you know if Denver doesn't figure things out in the second half they're own two and then they have a I believe a trip to LA to face the Rams in week three so I mean it's just like it's an important win and you know you know that if they didn't figure this out

47:43uh and Schuck was asked about that after the win yeah I saw it um all our bunch of the coaches was was telling me about the whole times call me poor man and um I love it it was um I knew when he meant by it but um yeah obviously he's an elite player but far as me up all right there you go dude he's got this team is tough as shit like Valle Olave Schuck like the amount of difficult plays that they made down the stretch and again I'm looking lucky with the goal line sneak you get lucky because the Ravens committed a penalty on a two point try when they were down 15 17 and then they got another crack at that and even then I don't think it was a great play call but it was those third downs right where you needed to make a play and you know the tested ball and Valle Olave made those catches and Schuck is just he's fearless and Schuck was hint today yeah

51:56and it's it's it's like to go do this with Drew Lock who played very I thought he played fine like good teams like this win with their backup quarterbacks and they dropped a bomb on the Arizona Cardinals who did not look like they belong today compared to a week ago it was a bit of a freak show on the Seahawks defense is is just smothering like they're well coached this team is wild and I don't think that there are any different than a year ago and I don't think we should just point to other teams in the division other than them and say look out the Seahawks are going to take a step down like to me they looked as powerful as they looked at any point last year today I mean I really thought he's out and he's good backup and he's doing the job right a quick Marvin Harrison junior sidebar again now it's now it's getting to the point where it's not a surprise anymore but you have to understand when Marvin Harrison junior entered the league he was as hyped up a wide receiver as there has been this decade and now we're at a point where and Trevor Sikama is a Sikama I want to get that right he was he's great um he uh he tweeted

53:01this during the game prior to now entering must pass territory for the Cardinals down 24-7 to Seattle Marvin Harrison junior had run 22 routes one target zero catches he ran 33 routes for three targets in one catch last week he's not a part of the game plan and I think that's just like you think about that that the Cardinals Conor do have playmakers and we talked about that when they surprised the charges last week like maybe it's not so crazy to think that they could score points but we've gotten to the point where Harrison is probably best left out of that conversation and maybe he needs a fresh start ASAP uh and maybe as soon as next year yeah I mean the trade deadline might be interesting for him but you saw where Arizona was telegraphing all along I mean they strengthen their offensive line they went after a bunch of backs this off season I think that they saw the personnel is constructed and said you know really the only way that we're going to get Marvin Harrison involved is if we're so good off of play action that he's so open that he doesn't really have to think about it and I just don't think that they've played those kind of games so far but he's over

55:07of that team we saw it in hard knocks how well put together the team was and how McDonald's on top of things he did a great job obviously or it looks so far um finding a new play caller once kubiak went to uh Las Vegas locked 19 of 26 three touchdowns no turnover 235 yards that's I mean that's as good as it gets like for a backup quarterback where you can get you could still run your offense like Arnold was there right and they're not playing around lock and I mean in locks had started an experience it's like a good backup to have and you know it was like like Schneider went and actually like sought him out is like I want this guy back in the building but like um they're not having to change everything they do they had a bunch of different running backs a manual Wilson today ran for 92 yards they used a lot of different players and then you've got a star at whiteout an absolute star who's winning people their fantasy leagues um already so it's like it's a nice situation and I really love to see a coordinator step up the way that flori has this quickly that is why they're the number one team in the heath to call power rankings all right let's move to the metal hands where the jatsad had chance to get off to a two and

56:10o's start for the first time in 12 years 11 years couldn't finish could not finish packers and overtime we're rookies smack from 26 yards out after trailing 177 to the fourth green bay with 13 unanswered points oh tough one for gangrene and a big win for the packers as you heard there from Kenny Albert I mean hell is your team blowing their home opener with Jonathan Vilma just bumbling through another floreena half hours and yet I digress the jets are unable to close out the packers who do what's been done to them too often come back in the fourth quarter and then after getting a stop

57:11in overtime drive down the field chip shot field goal and they get a big victory final score packers 20 jets 17 this is a game that the jets had no business losing they're offense absolutely cratered down the stretch and up but I thought that the what really stood out in this game was how coaching can make such a big difference and when you see a stat like this the packers are the first team to win a game in the Super Bowl era with under 200 total yards 10 plus penalties and zero takeaways teams were 0 and 38 with those numbers then you have the pop the hood and be like okay so how did this happen I'll tell you what happened Aaron Glenn had a terrible game and I'll just go I'm going to cycle through real quick how this happened so the jets are up 14 seven in the fourth quarter fourth and one field goal range they have a chance if

58:14they go for it they could really they could put this game away instead they decide to kick the field goal if you run those different you know models it said they should have went for it so they they kind of blink there and that happens a lot when you have a defensive minded head coach at the end of regulation he allows Matt LaFlore to run out the clock and they even get a Hail Mary opportunity out of it instead of using timeouts to force a punt and maybe something crazy happens on a wet rainy day in the metal ends then they win the toss and overtime the jets and they elect to receive which is kind of unheard of now because now because both teams get the ball you typically defer so you know what you need to get when you get the ball and it's just like these operational things and the jets had a really bad time management issue in week one against Tennessee before the end of the half these are all signs of a team that doesn't have things buttoned up and won't be ready in close games like this and that's what I took out of it so the Packers deserve a lot of credit for on a day where they didn't play well and struggle to move the ball

59:15finding away but I think the jets blew this game more than the Packers won it and it's damn frustrating are you not encouraged by the jets overall arc so far I mean they're competitive which they've not been for so long I mean I get it's a loss but um yes I'm seeing more than I've seen from the jets in a very long time I mean just the fact that yeah they went down to Nashville and kick the Titans ass last week and this game they really stifled Jordan love and they actually forced four fumbles in this game recovered just one still no interception by the way but they did everything right except for close the game and the I guess the positive way to look at it is like the jets were so bad under under glen last year they don't have they didn't have Connor a lot of experience or opportunities to to navigate like a close game going down to the wire like this or an overtime period and so I guess you could chalk it up to okay it's experience and they have to learn how to win but that's it's just hard when you're reading stats like this has never happened before

1:00:17right it's hard to look at it as any other way then kind of a meltdown and a missed opportunity for the team that's what it makes me curious about Glenn in particular because he brought over John burger from the giants who's like a 35 year game management professional and John also worked I think for the NFL's replay so like he has such an immense knowledge of like the inner working to the game and yet there was last season where there was the timeout snafu going into the half and then there's this one in this game I know he has a great game management coach is he not listening to this person is he just blowing past all the stoplights or is what's getting lost here in the chain of command because I it feels like he's taking a bigger hand in the defense and you can feel that and you can sense that I know that we were talking about that a lot today on text but like it's the other stuff that like that's why Sean Peyton took a step back right you got to realize that like the flow of a game like this can absolutely kill you if you mismanage it yeah here is Glenn after the game when it comes this game I'd be honest I'm highly upset

1:01:21that tough way to to lose a game there's a number of things that go to my head that man we have to fix and it's always tough you know when you feel like you was right there in the thick of it and then you didn't overcome and you let the other team overcome in and win yeah that's absolutely right I also want to point out you have to find a way to lose this type of game and if you're not doing with turnovers which a Jetson and have Frank Reich who I gave a lot of credit for his game plan against Nashville they had the ball tie game near midfield third in short two minute warning and I think I even tweeted I was like this is a perfect opportunity for Reich to reach into his bag of trips something like a misdirection get Ken Yitzendique back involved he had done nothing in the game catch catch them off guard and put this game away with a huge play and he just runs it into the line

1:02:23once gets it to the fourth and one then they line up and shotgun and they hand the ball off again stuffed at the goal line now to the Jets defense credit they stand up and are able to force a three and out and or four and out to go to overtime but I just thought that in general the Jets they puckered up in the moment and that's the frustrating thing about it because that was a game that they could have won and they let it get away and and Mark we I know you picked the Jets for the playoffs like the margin the margin of error for the Jets is so thin that these type of games like these home games where you got a you got a lead in the fourth quarter you can't let slip away but they did I think you made a good point out they haven't been in these situations so if you're Aaron Glen and you've got your strategy guy from the Giants and all this other business like what do you do with this what do you do next week how do you learn from it I mean it's a kind of a broad question but like Aaron Glen are you a great game manager or are you not today's concerning from that angle but the team looks better than they've been then in the past let me give a shout out on the other side

1:03:25to Lucas Van Ness who was an absolute monster in the game nine tackles four tackles for loss a sack and a half four QB hits he had the fourth and one stuff I just referenced late in regulation and then he had a half sack and overtime by the way when the Jets elected to receive they then Membu got back beat on back to back sacks that put them in third and forever and set up the final drive but a gutty win for the Packers and ugly win tons of penalties like I said put the ball in the ground four times lucky that they only had one turnover but they also survived Laflora after after the game said there was a time when we were down to four O lineman we were talking about having to put Tucker Kraft in a tackle when Monk was getting evaluated I've never been part of anything like that and you know they lost the right tackle and and this is important because it looked very serious at first on the first drive of the game they go three and out and they lose their right tackle and then Jaden Reed gets strapped to a backboard and taken out off the field with

1:04:26a neck injury he looks like he'll be all right so survive in advance game for the Packers and Jets let one get away. Did they have two people carded in the in the first three plays I think I read? Yeah yeah so kind of a started worse they they looked like it was just going to get away from them and to the Packers credit they beat a team that wasn't ready to close out a game like that so can I can I say that in particular though right like a situation an emergency situation that's so bad that you almost need to play your tight end at tackle for any other defensive minded head coach is is the old country buffet like you're feasting on that for hours on end and you know you can build game plans around that and you can make a team look embarrassingly bad and you know I think on one hand it's a weird thing to be like it's great that they were close and plucky but it's like Aaron Glenn did get a lot of upgrades on this defense and they probably should have kicked a shit out of this team. Yeah I mean it should be pointed out that in this crucible the crucible moments of this game where the Jets came up short on the defensive side of the ball the pass rush
