And I believe the Browns have won maybe one opener during the 17 years. And if you see a smile or even the suspect version of a smile on my face, it is because I am a clown. Well, let's just remember you're not a clown. Your team doesn't reflect on you. And also remember that did say Thursday night when you're at maybe your highest point of your life. Enjoy it because it might have been the high point of the season. I am believing that I'm only trending downward from that evening. So yes, we'll get to the Cleveland Browns and every other team that played football on this glorious Sunday, Connor, or of course with us Justin Graver on the ones and twos.

3:04Hey, Justin, nice jersey. Cute. No. No. No. Get out. Get out. We'll get to that game too. Yes. Well, it works. The flagship show. It's all goes back to inside the NFL with Lendos and a Nick Bonacani. When you had a team, whether you were a superpower or you were at the bottom of the barrel, you could trust Nick and Lend to cover every game. And that's what we've been trying to do since 2013. We will continue to do it this year. So with how further do Connor, how are you, buddy? I'm great. Really, truly a great day. And I've been trying to wipe out the inside asshole part of me, not like the physical, like the person who acts that way, not the body part. And this day has such a body part. Yeah, I need the body part. But this day has such a cleansing aspect to it.

4:06And I feel like even the grittiest games and some of the real bleak stuff, I truly enjoy. I also like that anytime I check in on Connor, it turns into like a look within like how the two sides good versus evil, like one trying to win out. It's very Catholic when I check in on Connor and what's going on in the soul. That's absolutely correct. The angels are winning. We're doing some Catholic guilt and some Catholic feelings from our kids. Without further ado, let's get into all the action here and week one. And thank you for joining us on the ride once more. Let's start with a game that very well could be a preview of the AFC title game and it lived up to the hype. Troub, bubbles the ball and tree. And it's over. Russo knocks it away, burnard on the recovery and Buffalo slams the door shut in Houston.

5:07Maybe this year will be different and Buffalo. Yeah. Connor locked it up. Fuck. Yeah. And this is what I mean by that. Buffalo down by a point, driving late in the fourth quarter. Josh Allen is telling the story to anybody that will listen this summer. I'm going to be a smarter quarterback this year. I'm going to avoid the mistakes that killed me in January's playoff loss and throughout the year before another lost year for Buffalo because every year now that doesn't end with the Super Bowl is a lost year. And yet he makes terrible decision. It's going right to a deep pass is going right to Kamari Lazzeter. Clang's off his hands. He gets another chance. And Allen splits two defenders to find his receiver Palmer for a touchdown. And then on the other end of it, the defense steps up.

6:08They bend. They don't break. CJ Strauss stripped. They fall in the ball. Maybe this year is different for the bills who triumph 36 to 31. Slaying all sorts of demons, getting the season and the Joe Brady are off on a tremendous foot corner. And we talked about it in the preview. And yes, you did lock the Texans and it was not a bad lock. It's a risky one because you were locking against a very good bills team. But Allen's history in Houston was legitimately terrible. And he played like a bad ass mother effort in this game. He really did. And then I thought one of the sneaky most brilliant moments of that game and it kind of shows the bonafides of Joe Brady in that spot is after Kamari Lasseter drops that pick. And everything is at a standstill. You can tell he's gutted emotionally. What do they do? They recognize the Texans are in man coverage and they throw right back at Kamari Lasseter who gets beat by Palmer on that touchdown.

7:09So that's the credit crafty veteran stuff that sometimes we miss in the NFL when some of these quarterbacks age out. So it's nice to see Josh Allen in his bag in that moment. This is the game that I don't want to overreact to. But I come out of it startled to some degree that the Texans defense, which to me was shiny in terms of super bowl worthiness, gives up this amount of points and is victimized the way they were by the bills. It's an incredibly encouraging performance for Joe Brady, for Josh Allen, for this offense and for General. And for those who maybe wondered if the Buffalo bills would be a little different, they'd fall off a cliff a little bit. This was a huge win. It's a huge victory. And it's whoever lost this would be very painful. But I'm sort of just left wondering about Houston in general. I mean, Stroud had what two fumbles in this that were lost as well. I mean, you're going to have to deal with your imperfections.

8:10And is this defense going to come out of this and rise up if you're Houston? I suspect they will. This was a lashing. Yeah, sometimes I feel like we don't have to ask what's wrong with this side because the other side executed beautifully. And I think that there's a rich Josh Allen is literally MVP. He's the defending MVP and they came out and played really well and delivered in crunch time. And I think back to that Tyler done conversation we had over the summer, you know, when he really banged the drum that it was time for Sean McDermott to go. And one of the things that the bills routinely struggled at in the McDermott era are the crucible moments and moments just like this in Houston crowd going ape shit. You just lost the lead. The walls are falling in. They're able to score that touchdown. And now here comes Stroud in the Texans offense and they're able to just get enough and then collapse that pocket and get the the strip sack to end the game. And that's how I'll remember this game.

9:11This was it's been a long time since Houston gave up 30 points in a game in which their starters finished actually have to go all the way back to Christmas day, 2024. And I just I put so much of that on what Joe Brady's game plan and Josh Allen looking at a quarterback playing a Hall of Fame quarterback in his prime playing at the height of his powers. He went six for seven for 149 yards and a touchdown and throws that traveled more than 10 yards down field according to ESPN 11 completions of more than 10 air yards tied for the most in a game in his career. And again, Connor, this is not against an average defense. This is against the Houston Texans who pound for pound might be the best defense in the league. Certainly the AFC. So it's that much more impressive to me and look at how the game started. Joe Brady dialed up what I thought was a really ill advised QB bootleg on that first fourth down in short, but they were going to go for it and ran right at Lassiter, who's like one of the best tackling corners in the NFL. He liked deep enough offensive tackle got in there and just blew up the whole play.

10:13And you're thinking this is the Texans defense that we thought the bills were coming to play. They just had gaps where, you know, I don't know inexplicably they can't cover tight ends today. There was a lot going on with that defense. Definitely a wake up call for them for sure. There been a lot of whispers that Dalton concade was going to be a big a primary part of this offense. And to have him come out of this with five catches for 130, but also DJ Moore for 100 yards as well. It's like if I've ever had any suspicions about the bills, it's like I just don't know if you have enough on offense to go be this team that we that we label you as. This was really encouraging. I mean, it's really encouraging. If the Joe Brady thing works or if it works better than the Sean McDermott scenario from a year ago, I mean, arrow up on the bills in this situation. This is a tough place to go play. They handled their business against the best defense I think in the NFL. Look again, to Dan, to your point, I don't come out of this like freaking out about the Texans. But like if you're the bills and you can do this, you could do this against anyone.

11:15You could go down there and win. You could be anybody. Here's Joe Brady after his first NFL win as a head coach. We didn't care how pretty. There's no such thing as an ugly win, right? And just find ways and we want to ball in our hands with the game on the line offense at a great job with that and look, they moved the ball a bit defensively. But we're just going to keep putting the ball down. And so proud for those guys in the locker room. And we got a short week. And if the first win, you don't get much time to think about it because Detroit will happen really quick. Pretty cool. I thought on the other side. And Dan, that's a good point too. Like to get this win because their schedule is really rough. Yeah, yeah. Like to come out of this with this with to be one and a. Like this is a major day for the bills this season. The Texans offense. Some good things to take away. David Montgomery looked exactly like the guy they were missing last year. I think he scored three touchdowns in this game. And that's a positive. Also CJ Stratt, he did put the ball on the ground twice. It led to two turnovers, including the game, clinching loss.

12:17But I thought he looked better in this game too, Connor. And overall was better with the football. At least when it came to throwing in terms of ball security. There were positives to take out from Houston side of it too. Right. And I think that in between those two things, because it was bookends, right? I think it was the fumble right at the beginning of the game to close out that first drive. And then a fumble at the end of the game. But really it's the last play. So it is technically a fumble if it's like, I don't know. But the moments in between, like that throw down the sideline to Collins to set up that touchdown. I thought was one of the best throws that I had seen all Sunday. And basically that second drive of the first quarter to the middle of the fourth quarter, that was some of the best shroud that I'd seen definitely last year and maybe even the year prior. So I think there's a lot to look up to. The problem is that still Trent Brown on the right side, a 33 year old Trent Brown trying to stop a pass rusher in obvious pass rushing situations.

13:18So you improved a little bit, but I think clearly some of these issues are still present for him. That's a regular dude. He's looking sick though. He's working on things and he's getting there. We like it. We like it. Good job, Buffalo. That's my super bowl pick, by the way. So that is flying high through the sky as Connor wonders, will he ever lock a game correctly ever again? All right, moving on. How many is that in a row? I'll get to it.

14:18It's a lot. We're approaching double digits. Yes. We're fast approaching. This is so humbling. All right, let's head to Philly where the Sean Manion Jalen Hertz marriage got underway. Daniels, little shuttle pass inside. He is stopped. Not going to get there. War of Joe, with the big play and the Eagles make the stand they needed. So it came down to a two point conversion. And when Tom Brady wasn't casually admitting that he doesn't even follow the Raiders, the team that he's ostensibly running on a day-to-day level, I was surprised he missed on the two-point attempt that sealed up a 24-22 win for the Eagles over the Division rival commanders. A receiver wearing number one wide open in the flat. Data Daniels didn't see him and that was that.

15:20As the Eagles do what they do, and they often have done to the credit of Nick Seriani. Remember, I'm turning over New Leaf, Nick Seriani. They win a lot of close games, including this one. As I said, 24-22, Eagles get the job done. But Mark, the commanders are a team that you are not very high on. Did you feel any better about the commanders being able to hang in this game to the very last minute? I mean, I come out of the day entirely looking at myself. I spend all of them sitting there on a couch, most of them realizing I'm wrong about this. I was wrong about that. I'm incorrect about this. I was off base on this topic. No, Mark. No, but they pile up. I would say this, if you're a commander's fan, you got to come out encouraged by the defensive effort. After what this defense was a year ago, the only reason Dan Quinn should even be there is because the defense should be a deciding factor. I thought the defense was much better than I expected. You're talking about Rashad White on that final play. I don't know if they're in that same position with Rashad White sitting.

16:24It's hard to watch a play like that, right? When you could just see that was the move. You throw it to him. He's completely wide open. There was a breakdown there covering him and he's sitting there and number one on his jersey. You also don't need Stefan Diggs. I don't know what he was doing. French kissing or hugging the goal post. I mean, it's not even original. He didn't invent that. That was the move people were doing 20 years ago. I'll say this, Stefan Diggs continues to be a guy that's worth having on your roster because he gets open even as he gets older. That was a big touchdown that pulled Washington closer. In a situation where they had a chance to go for two and tie the game, he commits an obvious, we know that's a personal foul that takes the two point conversion out of Dan Quinn's hands. That's why if Stefan Diggs wondering, Stefan Diggs has anyone in his life that can be real with him. Stefan Diggs, the reason you need to keep changing addresses every damn year is because you do dumb shit.

17:24Yes. That was some dumb shit. I'm saying that the commander wanted to won that game if he doesn't do that. The fact that he's still doing that stuff at his age, it's pretty wild. Don't take it out of your team's hands. Don't take it out of the coach's opportunity to go for two in that situation because look at I mean, I think they played a better team than they are in the Eagles and the Eagles answer some questions from me today. That kind of thing, when you're a veteran, an unsportsmanly conduct penalty that refused that takes away the chance to go for two in a critical, critical, divisional showdown like that. Stefan Diggs, and we all spend all off season, we like him as a player, but he's a little bit crazy. He's going on boats with all these ladies. I don't hate the concept on some level. Tonight, but this is exactly what you don't want out of a veteran. It's your most veteran receiver. Let's talk about the Eagles. Let's talk about the Eagles side of it, Mark. Because I watch this game pretty closely and I thought it was a very good start for

18:25the Manion Hertz marriage. I thought Hertz played really well in this game. There were pockets of the game where things got really bogged down. It wasn't a full on party, but he ends up throwing three touchdowns. Before the touchdown that gives them the win, essentially, he had a third and 18 scramble. I was talking to our buddy, Super, Dan Campbell from the Wunder years. We were texting. He's a huge Eagles fan. He was pumped up by the way Hertz was playing with confidence and not being afraid to take off and use his legs, which is something Connor that had slipped out of his game a little bit in the past season. I thought it was a very promising arrow up start for this version of the Eagles offense. I would say arrows three quarters, because it was the first four drives of the second half and you only got one first down. The breakthrough was Hertz having that massive 22 yard or 21 yard run. The Goddard one, which was just a huge yards after the catch play. I think the PTSD for Eagles fans here are the second half where these drives have just

19:30completely dried up. I think that was a little bit of a flashback that may have been unpleasant for them for a little bit there. Connor, someone that is, you're plugged into these coordinators like, and they've had so many. Hertz has dealt with a new one every year, but I liked seeing Sequan Barkley. He didn't have a great box score, but to rip off that 42 yard big run. I feel like that just didn't exist a year ago. To have Don Tavian Wix have that huge catch that he did. Devonte Smith with like a 31 yard catch. There was an element and an aggression and a yearning for big plays in the offense today. I thought they were largely successful. I don't know what that means against Washington's defense, but like I said, I think this was a better version of the commander's defense. It's the first time that Manion and his quarterback and his players are doing this and there were results. Yeah, it was a little bit of a Rorschach test really for the offense because it was really stilted. Like for Sequan Barkley had that big run, but there was a lot of 2005 flashbacks with being

20:33hit in the backfield a lot. And I give Washington a lot of credit in this game. Jaden Daniels, I think late in the third quarter, it thrown for 65 yards in this game. It's clear like that's a work in progress. Terry McClure and he's your number one wide receiver. It doesn't have a catch until five minutes left in this game. He finished with two catches on four targets. So the fact that Daniels still isn't looking like Daniels yet, that's a problem, but that's something you have plenty of time to work on. The blue hearts are going to be hard at work on that. But the defense I thought really did for most of this game really do their job. So it was a mixed bag for Washington, but it could have been a lot worse. I think a lot of us, and Mark, I know you're one of them. Like wouldn't have been surprised if the Eagles just blew the doors off of Washington team that didn't have the same level of talent, but it didn't go that way. Yeah, no, I, it's so far I stand corrected. I think that they're competitive. More than I saw last year. So I don't come out of this if I, if I'm a commander's supporter, um, um, you know,

21:34like ripping my clothes off, running down the street naked. I'm going to survive to see another day. I come out psyched about sunny styles, whacking the crap out of a sacron bar. Thank you, Colin. You know what he is? You can just see it with him like he is special. I think I absolutely love him. I think he's a good dude's and maybe styles. The first run pick could be that you have that Brady sound. He made kind of an illusion to his raiders gig. You ever watch any raiders games? I should I go to day job? No, excuse me. I like Birkhart, at least saying like I'm going to bring it up, you know, you know who I kind of missed today. I missed Tony not being around. I thought about it. Did you? I thought about it. I don't know if it mattered. I thought about Tony. It didn't matter to me too. I thought about Tony. It's a wild. Yeah, there he is. It's a wild, weak one's always wild and there's so many things happening and I got triple TVs on and a laptop in front of me. But you know, maybe it was also like Adam Schein when did the updates. He's like, Tony?

22:35Like not having that. Like I kind of missed that. I think like as a football fan or sports fan you become a creature of comfort, wherever Tony is, I hope he's doing okay. I'm like, hey, Chris Collinsworth, maybe you could have a couple drinks and get behind the wheel and we can replay. I just like, why not someone else also? Let's start to remove people from the milieu. I like this. Like a new game on the podcast. Like is there a line where people would get on Sessler for something he said? Let's use this one as the latest test. I think our last Friday fun show maybe achieved that based on some of the results that I don't know about that. Let's head to Indianapolis where Peyton Manning built the skyline. Did you know that? Well not physically. Henry.

23:36And he has another touchdown. That's three for Derek Henry. Wavon so long to the Colts fans. He's selling the fans by by. I think that could be the final draw right there. Oh yeah, that's the Colts who surrendered their first round pick in the 2027 draft to the New York Jets. Track it. They open their season at home with a thorough trashing. But they didn't deliver it. It was the Ravens who delivered it. And it was Derek Henry being Derek Henry rushing for three touchdowns. Mark Jackson lights up the Colts second area as well. 41-23. The final. Derek Henry, he just keeps going. He just keeps going. You heard the call there from Andrew Catalan. And you're 32.

24:37You're not supposed to rip off a buck 44 and three touchdowns. He moves into third place in the NFL career list for touchdowns. And in general for one day at least in Jesse Minter's debut Connor all looks well for the Baltimore Ravens and you got to be excited. Oh my goodness. Where to start in this one, right? The Ravens. This is the most that Lamar Jackson's ever been under center in the history of his NFL playing career. Interesting. And right off the bat, you saw one of these massive kind of sweeping bootlegs. It was a classic staple of that Ben Johnson offense that Declan Doyle, their offensive coordinator, came from that guy's going to get a head coaching job. You know, I mean, he's going right to the top beer. But Lamar looked great. They still kept some of the split zone, the inside zone stuff that Lamar Jackson does really well. But to kind of marry those two things together, I thought was the real genius and then on defense. I mean, Jesse Minter plays defense like we played NCAA football 2006 on PlayStation

25:41two. Like it's just like, what if I took every fast guy and just put him at the edge and just blitz the Christ out of Daniel Jones. Like, let's see what happens. Turns out it had Daniel Jones on his heels. He had a terrible day through an awful pick that I think at that point just set the Ravens off on a track race and the Colts couldn't catch him. I mean, this is a huge moment for Connor because you've been the Jesse Minter guy. As far as I would rank people, I love seeing like Zay flowers have the kind of day he did. What was it? 150 yards. I mean, I didn't love him going out in the middle of the second quarter. Right. I'm sorry, injury. I mean, I feel like he's sort of this kind of Ravens guy that they're like, he's our number one dude, but he's not he Todd Munkin was the Rocia year ago. He wasn't unplugged. And today he totally was Derek Henry. Am I crazy? It's me more slender and youthful and powerful physically today. I just was like, this guy just does not age. And this is we can talk about the bills, but this was pretty dominant.

26:41I'm excited about a few things. So let me hit on the Zay thing really quick. This is something that just amazes me when you change coordinators and you change head coaches and someone tries something that the last guy didn't. And you're like, why the hell weren't you doing that? Like Zay flowers was a stationary player, a lot under Todd Munkin. And what they did today was they kind of match up on it and they got him on some really bad Colts corners. And they were just kicking ass by moving him around. And you're just like, why did it take so long for someone to figure out that that was a good idea? They looked awesome doing that. So the Ravens out game, the Colts 506 yards, the 251 man. And on the Colts side of it, Connor, this is this was supposed to be the fresh start. And this was you talking about picking on corners. You know, they have sauce gardener back there. I'm curious how he did in this game. Daniel Jones, like did he look healthy to you? And by the way, Zay flowers keep an eye on that because it's the same hamstring. Florio reported this on NBC before Giants Cowboys.

27:43It's the same hamstring that he tweaked in a joint practice this summer. They anticipate him to be questionable going into week two. They got to be careful with that. But just look at his numbers. I think five catches for what, a buck 50 and a touch in a quarter and a half. That's, that is pretty exciting. But not so exciting in Indiaapolis tonight. Yeah. And it was, it was Daniel Jones played poorly. But I think more than that, it was, they got into bad spots. They got down a touchdown. And then in that ensuing kickoff, you commit a penalty. And so all of a sudden, it's first in 20. And first in 20, I think what we're going to learn with against Jesse Minner is just a death sentence. You know, if you're telegraphing the fact that you're going to pass against this guy, you're dead. And what's weird is it was still a classic Shane Steichen, Jonathan Taylor game. I mean, it was like 98 yards. I think it was close to five yards of carry, if not a little bit more. But it was all the little things in between. They just could not sustain a drive. They were committing bad penalties. They were putting themselves behind the sticks. And when you needed to rely on Daniel Jones, there was that Rokwan Smith pick.

28:46And everything after that just kind of cascaded. So though the second half of the season calls from a year ago, not the first half, it would appear that way. Uh, the cornerbacks that were struggling in this game included Justin Wally, safety, AJ Halsey, both a guy starting for the first time. And that's a good offense. Finds guys that aren't ready for the moment. And they go after him. Let's give the final word to Jesse Minner after his debut as a head coach in the NFL and Kravie is right on it, baby. Yeah, it's a surreal a little bit, honestly. I don't know if it's actually hit me yet, but it's a blessing to be where I'm at. Again, such appreciation to the opportunity given to me by this organization and to have a ton of family here, obviously my dad on the sideline there at the end. A really cool, really special moment. He kind of looks like the guy from Flight of the Concords. He's Nate Bargetzi. He looks like Nate Bargetzi. He's got a little Bargetzi in him too. You mean the Flight of the lesser of the two, like the lesser, larger individual, not

29:48of the Flight of the Concords individual? You mean like the physically smaller? Yeah, the friend, yeah, like right. He does the lesser. Brett McKenzie is the love those guys. That 95 point ball game. 58 points from the Chicago Bears offense. Incredible. What's that Stevie Nicks on? They attack on one more via PAT. The Chicago Bears put up a near 60 burger to open the season 59 to 37, scoring 14 in the

34:53first, 17 in the second, 14 in the third, 14 in the fourth. I haven't even looked at the team stats, but let me look at this 26 first downs, 70 total plays, 552 yards, nearly 300 yards on the ground. Any punts? We punted today? Probably not. They punted a couple times. They fumbled on the third play of the game. They went for it on fourth and won from their own 21 yard line and failed. And they still scored 59. It's a bad 59. Everybody watch out. Ben Johnson, gravy. What the hell was going on in Charlotte today? I mean, it kind of reminds me a little bit of Mike McDaniel in his second year with Miami. Week three goes to Denver and drops a 70 bomb on Sean Payton's Broncos.

35:54And I kind of feel like Ben Johnson in year two has leveled up, which I didn't know was possible. Caleb Williams has also leveled up. They were just, it was crazy. This was a really fun game. It was super back and forth. Bears go down seven. No, they jump out to a 21 seven lead. It's tied 24 or they go up 24, 21, 24, 24 and a half times. What I meant to say. And then from there, second half, the bears just, they started getting more stops on defense and their offense was completely unstoppable. And they ran away with the game. Really fun, explosive one to watch. It feels like 60 minutes is too many minutes to give Ben Johnson. Yeah. It's too many minutes. And the balance like you mentioned it, Dan, like to rush for almost 300 yards. And our concern was that this may not be a very good defense. And it may not be a very good defense. And it may not matter. They gave a lot of yards. I think they gave about 460 in this game, but they have the ability at least against

36:59teams that are, they are better than and have more talent than. That's certainly the case when you're playing the NFC South, where you could just outscore your mistakes. And it did make me think about Justin, the wide ranging profile Ben Johnson and the athletic during the summer. And you know, he puffed out his chest and spoke about his goals for this offense. I'll just read that in light of what we saw today. You've got 31 other teams coming to training camp saying, our goal is to win the Super Bowl. I want more than that. I want to have the highest scoring offense ever, which happens to be the 2013 Denver Broncos. I know how many points per game they scored. It's over 37. And I want to surpass them. I want shutouts. I want blowouts. This is the type of stuff you don't hear too much in the NFL. And I'm here for it. Here is Ben Johnson after today's blowout. That, listen, that'll always be the goal is we want to be the highest scoring one. I have the most wins. We want them with super bowls. We want to, that's what we did. We didn't get into this profession trying to be, trying to be mediocre average.

38:01And guys feeling it right now. Guy, you know, you could see that, you know, it's like it's oozing out of his pores, just the confidence. That's the most important thing. And that's that goes into everything that we do. If this were my head coach, I would waltz around town, pantless. Yeah. I mean, it's like watching football games for my team is scoring eight points or seven points. And this guy's saying, let's become super human. I'm more in line with his wishes. And he was, I don't remember, actually no, because you still had your guy, Stephansky at the time. But like, yeah, my team was looking for a coach when he was on the market. But the bear is very smartly identified him as their number one target. They went hard after him. I think everyone thought Connor and you are all over this stuff with your coverage of coordinators and their ascension. They felt like a good hire in the moment, but there was also questions about if he's built for the head coaching chair and all this stuff. You cut to where we are now. And I don't think if you're a bears fan, you could be doing anything else, but like leading

39:05a parade down the street like Ferris Bueller right now. That mean the excitement that you should have a team that's never had a 4,000 yard quarterback. This guy's so crazy. He might just put in two quarterbacks and get 4,000 twice this year. That's what's going on with the bears. I think the ceiling is the, to quote another Chicago legend, the roof is the ceiling with this offense. And credit to Ben too, right? Because Ben would not have taken an interview with the New York Jets. And I think he declined an interview with the New York Jets or the Jets knew that he wouldn't didn't ask him, right? I think that was one of those situations where Brady couldn't even get him. Right. I mean, Tom Brady tried to court him, right? But Ben knew exactly he had years to think about this. And remember, and I think it was 2024, when the commander's plane was on the way to Detroit and they were prepared to make that final run at Ben Johnson and Ben Johnson got on the plane on the way home from that playoff loss from the lines. I said, I'm not going anywhere. And I don't even want to meet with you guys when you get here. He had a vision of how this was going to go.

40:06The personnel, the GM, all that stuff aligned for him in Chicago. And he hired the bears as much as the bears hired him. And you could tell. And don't forget, like part of his decision making again is also, he liked the idea that Caleb Williams coming off a rookie year where he was paired with the wrong coach. He saw the potential of the former USC star. And what you saw in this game was that he is, I think people kind of sleep on it a little bit. His two way ability, 21 of 29, 269, two touchdowns throwing. But he also ran for multiple touchdowns for the first time in his career. He really escaped pressure in the pocket, hit on his throws, ended up with 65 yards and 10 carries. It looks like a complete quarterback in this offense. And I don't know, like we all, I don't want to say we all, but I think we did like deflated a little bit some of the Chicago hype when we were making our predictions. But this game, none of us had them making the playoffs. Yeah, I was going to say this game has a way of, you know, making you think otherwise.

41:08Is the Panthers, right? Is there anything on the Panther side corner that you want to talk about here? Yeah, the Panthers, I thought they're offensive. I mean, maybe it's a Bears defense thing, but I thought their offense looked good. And especially Bryce Young looked pretty good. He was making plays outside of structure. He was stepping up in the pocket and evading pressure. Jalen Coker was an absolute monster in this game, 138 yards and two touchdown catches, including us 51 yarder that put the Panthers back in the game in the first half. And they just, at the end of the day, I mean, you put up 37 points. You shouldn't lose by 22 points at all. At home. They did well to keep pace with Chicago for a while until they just like, I don't know, ran out of plays on the play sheet or ran out of steam. I don't know. It's crazy. Um, right. Did the Bears go for it on four down from their own 20? Did I read that correctly? Yeah, yeah, they believe it. That's been, the man is sweating and they didn't get it. And the Panthers turned on a touchdown right afterwards. Wow.

42:08Imagine if that defense just gets to mediocre. Like middle of the pack, that's how you can win a Super Bowl in Chicago. You heard me right. All right. Let's. Yeah. Roman Dunze had the catch of the year in the first half and I not only weak one, but for so far, it was an incredible catch. Great catch. Yeah. I think it's like, we have an early contender for catch of the year. I think that's the way he said that one. Yes. One of those things. All right. Let's head to Minnesota. This was a wild one. Third and five. He still has it. He's got Jefferson over here in the flat. Jefferson going for the orange. Time for the pi-ron. Swarves to the air. And it's a touchdown. Oh my goodness. Want to play it by Justin Jefferson. He didn't want the first down. He wanted the touchdown and he got it. That's a superstar player making a superstar play to seal the game for the Minnesota Vikings. Missy Tony. Jim Nance and JJ Wad on the call for CBS.

43:11Very happy to see that version of Justin Jefferson. We'll get to that a little bit later. But let's focus on what happened in this game. Kyler Murray goes out with a concussion and a scary one early in the first quarter. It's one of the ones where you get hit and he's immediately in the fencing posture and everyone knows what that means. In comes Carson Wentz and he steps in and he does a really nice job. Fencing Minnesota in the game until they can absolutely overwhelm the Packers with 22 unanswered points in the fourth quarter. The latest hideous meltdown for a Mat La Flore team who blew a lot of games last year as well. So 39-22 Vikings shocked the Packers. Connor and I mean, when I say shock, I mean shock because I was watching this game pretty closely too. And it was going along a certain path that made sense given the circumstances where Minnesota is a very good home team. So even though the Packers were ahead, Minnesota was kind of hanging around because they kind

44:12of do that at home. And then something just switched. And I think maybe the place to start Connor is a huge decision by Mat La Flore to take points off the board which swung the game entirely. So 13 minutes about left in the fourth quarter and the Packers kick a field goal to go up eight. But then all of a sudden, there's an off-sides penalty and it brings it to fourth and one. And so a long one. And a long one. Yeah. Right. And a long one with an offensive line where you only had one of your players that has had a tenure at that position. The rest of them are either new starters or in their new positions. And so you decide to do the QB sneak on fourth and one. And immediately it was one of those things where Wat and Nance clocked it. They were uneasy about it. Just the optics of taking points off the board, I think, in a tight game. And then love gets stone walled. And then this just blew out from there.

45:13I mean, the Vikings went down and scored. Now there was the other controversy where I think that they were aided where Wens just through a meatball that got picked. And then there was a holding call. And that was its own other thing there. But I mean, this was the central point where everything the earth just broke open and the Packers fell through. And if I'm Kevin O'Connor, I'm buying a large bottle of any alcohol that Brian Flores would like to drink tonight. I really think this was a special, special performance by Brian Flores, by guys like Andrew Van Ginkel, who are as a Flores guy. This is why I kind of look at the Packers and think this could get very dark. This could get very dark and disappointing and there could be a lot of changes ahead. I mean, there's 13 minutes to go when they take the field goal off the board. As Conor said, it would have put them up eight, which means the other team has to get a touchdown and converted two point conversion. And that other team has Carson Wens in 2026 as your quarterback. I understand the idea like, oh, we're going for the jugular and all this shit.

46:14And it's like, no, man, like in that case, I think you have to live. You take those points unless that offsides gives you the first down or puts you inches away, which it didn't. I think take the points and then you count on your defense to be able to beat Carson Wens. So we know Green Bay is not Green Bay's top level defense because Michael Parsons isn't there. But I thought it was strange. But after that, the other thing that you do in that situation, I talked about leading into this game. I've said it many times. That is a great home field advantage in the soda. That is a building that gets on fire. And you brought that building back to life by get the after the fourth down stop. And after that stop, immediately nine plays, 83 yards touchdown. Packers take the field, fumble the ball away on the third play. Fikings go in one yard out for a touchdown. Two plays later, interception, Jordan Love. Three plays after that. Minnesota three, uh, 14 yards in touchdown. And then the game is over 39 22, just like a stunning turn of events.

47:15Yeah. And I think too, uh, and you saw the sideline. I hate to belabor the holding call, but in the end zone, but I think you saw the sideline of Green Bay just absolutely deflate because they had the interception. They kind of recovered from that moment. And you felt like they were going to go back and pull away because leading up to this. I mean, I don't know if you had the same takeaways. Me, Dan, but Jordan Love was playing phenomenally well. And right in the teeth of that Brian Flores defense, because he was getting drilled and throwing like with timing and placement, like the balls out of his hands and he's getting drilled in the receiver hasn't even turned around and he comes to it. It's right in the numbers. He had that kind of game. And I, I thought this was the beginning of the big Jordan Love season where we recognize him as that top five quarterback, but it was just everything that happened after that moment. You know, I think the that drive that immediately led after the stop on fourth down and Conner's hit on it. But I watching it was really stunning.

48:16There was three plays where the officials, and I know Packers fans are going nuts. It's Hawkely's son that was involved in all these. It was the illegal contact that wiped out when sack on third and 11 when they're getting off the field. It was a third in three. Went in complete pass, but a 15 yard penalty for roughing the passer. And then there was a interception in the end zone that was wiped out by what was the penalty call. It was defensive hold. That was a defensive holding. Yeah. So like three major like end of drive, place snuffed out, carried that drive into the end zone and Packers. It's like, I don't know, Mark, there's like, there's bad losses as a fan base and then that losses like these where you just can't leave. You got the starting quarterback out of the game in the first quarter. Same thing that happened with the Patriots in Seattle on Wednesday. You're in control of the game and then you let it slip away and then it feels like the walls are falling in with the home crowd against you. Officials calls are going against you and you blink and you're like, wait, I lost by

49:17three scores. How did this happen? And I come out of it to absolutely. It's relatively inexcusable. And I come out of it thinking like, wait a minute, we're one of these teams where when Jeff Hathley leaves and is no longer controlling. And Jonathan Ganon is now controlling our defense. It's September 13th and I have questions and they aren't pretty questions. Like I think there is, that's a talent drain right there. And like that brought control and I thought a level of like comfort and ease to the Packers on defense and it's gone. And I'm concerned about this team and I'm concerned about whether this head coach is, I don't want to overdo it. But like, I'm concerned about the Packers. Well we talked about it on the Hot Butt Show with James Palmer. Like I was trying to push for the bearded boy to be a little bit more trouble. But at the same time, it was rightly pointed out. No, they just gave him an extension. Like they're not going to do anything. But these losses and now this is five dating back to last year where they've blown second

50:19half leads and that used to never happen. It doesn't reflect well on the coaching staff and the ability of the team to kind of buckle down and again, like a crucible type mom, what kind of. The other thing and I know you're going to get mad at me for just mentioning this because I brought it up about 67 times. Is it about Australia or Israel or? No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, I'm dumb with that. But if you're the Vikings, Carson Wentz a couple times got up like holding his back. Like he looked really uncomfortable at different points. I mean, he essentially had his shoulder obliterated last season and was playing with it hanging out of his socket for the Vikings. Is this the team that finally calls Jimmy Garoppolo? Like somebody's got to call this guy. And if you're the Vikings, you can't with the, I don't know, I think that's crazy. And one more thing before we get out of here. This is actually get to Jimmy Garoppolo. Okay, go ahead. One more thing. This just made me laugh and I asked Justin to pull the audio for it. They were talking about Harrison Smith coming back and they were talking about how he trained

51:21in the off season and this just made me laugh my ass off. We asked Kevin O'Connell, you know, how is he in shape? And he said, well, I meet with him every Friday. We have a little coffee with coach and he brings in a French press. He's a coffee snob. But he told me that to stay in shape, he does 40 dunks, 20 on each foot full court. So he dunks on one end, runs to the other end, outstumps on the other end without stopping. Kevin did say, you should probably call him on that because I don't believe that is insane. What a lot going on. Just picture the optics of like an empty gym and there's just this 38 year old white guy wind sprinting from end to end and just slamming dunks down and not stopping. I'm just like picturing them like screaming in the gym like daring as a killee's to snap. He's like, I dare you. I dare you. We also have people drinking French press coffee. I mean, there was a lot going on there. All right, let's move on to Cincinnati where let's see if the Bengals can just be fucking normal. First and five may field under pressure.

52:25Shrump's away may field on the run. Look at him get free. Baker fumbles into the in zone. It's recovered by Cincinnati. Oh, everybody loves Baker. I love Baker. That's the analysis. Like, there's already to do like, Baker may feel he has so much heart. If they have every player and half the heart of the Baker may be like, balls on the ground. Bangles on it. Mega turnover. An important turnover in a close game. Final score. Bangles 33 bucks 27. And yes, it was a normal day for the bangles because, you know, Joe burrow plays four quarters. Doesn't even play at his highest level, not nearly at his highest level. Jamar Chase cost me my fantasy matchup in week one. Let's focus on that. Two catches for nothing in this game. But that new look Cincinnati defense had four turnovers, including its first fumble recovery for touchdowns since 2022.

53:27So all the talk, Sessie about Cincinnati's defense being different this year. Well, for one day it was. It was that's the difference. Four takeaways. That's the difference. Like because this could have been a disaster, but you paid boy and mafia a bunch of money. 20 million. He blew up Mayfield on a sack fumble. Brian Cook, they paid a ton of money to he had a forced fumble in the first half. Jonathan Allen had a big sack on third down that forced a field goal. Dexter Lawrence, probably the quietest of the group to some degree, but that's okay. That's okay. I mean, he's a presence and he's there. So that was the difference for me with Cincinnati. Like this defense, what created problems for Baker Mayfield. It looks the score at the buy that it got too close at the end, but they were up 21 to three at one point. And that's my one concern with the Bengals is like, they're just going to do things that are going to be slightly annoying. But they handled their business. Like I don't really, I don't need to, I don't need to look too far into the game beyond

54:28the fact that like if you're going to create turnovers with these defensive players that you've added, you are, that's the difference between this Bengals team and what we've seen for years in a row. Because I have no issues with the, with the offense, I'm with you. I have chased on my team as well. And that was unrewarding. I would say when I looked at that, how did that happen? It was, it looks like he wasn't really even targeted that much. I don't think it just, I think it just happened. Like I don't think it was like a wow, like he's not, he's central to everything they do. It, like to me, it's like, I don't think they had to flex their muscles too much. It is a very frustrating game. I know you, I know you, like you're doing a little bigger thing and I, you're probably slightly aiming at it me. Little bigger thing. Well, you're slightly aiming at the fact that I find his personality engaging and enjoyable. No, I'm being, I'm just, he's got all the heart in the world and he's undersized in this stuff. That's what I'm more kind of like it. But this was frustrated. This was a, this is kind of like, OF. But this might be the, we might know what the ceiling is with a Baker-led Buccaneers

55:33team. And is it this? Well, just why I was saying I didn't agree at all with that contract extension. But now it's true. Like because they've just locked in for three more years with them. But this was, this was a frustrating Sunday corner for the Buccaneers. Absolutely. On the deck's front though, you're right. He was a little quiet, but there was that, that play where Baker fumbled into the end zone. He basically took the center and like hurled him ten yards backwards and that's what flush may feel in the first place. I actually liked the, kind of the underpinnings of what he can provide there. And I think once we actually kind of get a really, really good look at this, I bet he did some great down and dirty work in this game too. Yeah. This game was made closer because Rookie Linebacker, Josiah Trotter, the first Sessler boy. Yeah. Remember, Ossessie, that's what, that's where you can get him, buddy. Well, and that, that's the one thing is like, hey, Joe Burrow, I know we're all, we always, we're put a crown on you and sit you up on the mountain top, but like, don't make that play. He was the first NFL rookie with a pick six and a sack in his NFL debut since, sacks became

56:35an official stat in 1982. According to the Elias Sports Bureau, all right, Elias Sports Bureau, getting off the mat. You know, it's been, I feel like it's been a tough ten years or so for the Elias Sports Bureau. A little bit tough for the Elias Sports Bureau. It was a dynasty, it'll end all dynasties in the like stat collection and dissemination game. And then you feel like a lot of people came up on their corner, but I think maybe the dismantling of the American business structure is maybe leading to Elias having a shout at this. This is very obtuse, but I'm enjoying what you're saying, but it's very strange. Let's see, let's see, let's see. Any other thoughts on this game? I really, I don't, I kind of just, I, I want the buck in years to go to the NFC title game. On the game, though, Sessie. That's straight me. No, not a ton, not a ton of other thoughts. No, Justin spinning his hand saying, let's move. Well, yeah, if there was something in the game, we all, we're all rooting for the, the bucks, but you know, there's a limit on it all. There certainly is. All right. Let's move forward. Yeah. Two Ford field with a Lions got a bigger fight than maybe we expected.

57:39Chuck Lutkin, he throws to the end zone. In complete. The Lions win it. Yes. Over time. They finally got overtime right. Took a long time, but we hear, baby, because in a game that was tied at 24 after regulation, thanks to a spirited New Orleans come back in the second half. The Lions take over. They take the ball. They go right down the field. Goff to a Mont-Ross Ambrane. They kicked a P.A.T. in one of the old versions of the rules. That's the game because the first touchdown's going to, no. Now both sides get a chance. And Tyler Schuck, who started out really poorly in this game and closed very strong himself, he leads the Saints back the other way for a touchdown.

58:41They do the thing that real men do. They go over to for the win in that spot. Unfortunately, as you heard, Kenny Albert with the call. The Lions make the stop and the Lions escape with a 31 to 30 victory in this game. Fun one to watch. A little bit of a weird one. Football is a weird game. Jared Goff said after the game, but the Lions find a way to make it work. When you look at the box score, a lot of this on the Detroit side, it makes sense. Goff was his usual efficient self throwing two touchdown passes, one over 200 yards. Jamir Gibbs is the best running back in the world, depending on who you ask of course, but he made his case stronger here, ran over 150 yards with two touchdowns, added five catches through the air. But I really came out of the game, impressed by Tyler Schuck quite frankly and what him and the offense were able to do down the stretch in the second half and over time.

59:42He throws for over 400 yards in this game with three touchdowns. And as much as we talk about Mark about the Saints being one of these teams that doesn't really know what their long-term plan is a quarterback, this type of game, even in a loss, makes you feel pretty good. Look, if you kind of back up into the concept of like, we drafted Tyler Schuck's like, we don't know what he is. And he could be the answer. I come away with this with just this more evidence. I don't know what all these things are. Like, Kellyn Moore is a good coach. He's a good coach. I think he's super ballsy to go for two and over time at that point. And I kind of have said the Saints have been spiced. I only moved off it. I moved off it. And I regret that I moved off it because I think there is a spicy kind of team. Like they took the Lions to the brink here. The only thing I'd say about the Lions is that I think Jamir Gibbs might be the most exciting fantasy football player in a decade. He might turn into that very quickly. It already has. After one of his electric plays in this game, and he's, you know, wearing the Lions home

1:00:45uniform and it's like, man, this team had Barry Sanders. And now they have this guy who he became, oh, it was a some type of crazy stat. Let me see if I can find this today. He is on a very short list of players who have scored 50 touchdowns in their first 50 games. Like he's, he could be talking about like an all time player here in a spin. What was a split backfield up until now? Yeah, right. Exactly. Yeah. His second touchdown in this game was his 51st score in 50 career games. Six player and NFL history to do that. And the other guys are just Hall of Famers. I mean, you guys like Chuck Foreman, Stan Van Buren, Jim Brown, Marcus Allen, Larry Johnson. Remember Larry Johnson? He was on that list. Yeah. Here's Jared Goff after the game. I don't care how it happens, man. I mean, if we're up and they come back or we're down and we come back, it doesn't matter. Yeah, of course we'd love to keep scoring and win 49-0, of course. I'm not saying that, but listen, it's NFL. This thing's hard.

1:01:45Week one's very hard and we're happy to get a win. Connor on the negative side for Detroit, they really need their defense as much as we get excited about what Ben Johnson and the Bears are doing. And maybe they can outscore their mistakes. Like the Lions goal, I guess like the Bears goals, you know, win the NFC and you're just going to need to do a little better than giving up 24 points in the second half. And to their credit, it was a tale of two games because Detroit, while their offense was kind of going through it, they created three turnovers on defense and they were up 21-0, but they couldn't finish the game. So it was kind of an incomplete effort from their defense. Incomplete effort, despite some freaky stuff from Aiden Hutchinson that we saw, but I think most encouraging to me was the fact that really, HN and Miller, it was the long of 18 for Travis HN and then Miller had the three and a half, 3.3 yards of carry. And that was the lifeblood of, I mean, that's always what Kellymore is going to try to do.

1:02:46We saw him in that super bowl season with Philly and he's always going to lead with that and try to use it to set other things up. So I think they did a nice job there. And if the front seven is good, I think it's going to keep the team at least good enough to stop some of these breakdowns. I mean, one quick note, like Chris Alavi, what are you 182 yards? And I like that he's wearing, even though it's not the coolest looking thing, he's wearing the padded helmet for concussion protection for a guy that said, I feel like everyone should be wearing this helmet. Yes. You think so? But it does look slightly absurd. I know, maybe that's something they could get in the lab and figure out how to not make it look so goofy, but like if it's going to help these guys protect their brain health, absolutely. But yeah, he, he looked great. I need to talk about a play in this game that turned out to be massive. Jared Goff gets drops back to pass. He gets hit. His arm's going forward, but the ball comes out. It's going backwards. And we know it's scooped up by the Saints and running for a touchdown. And we know that when a quarterback drops back and he pivots and he throws into the flat

1:03:50if it's going backwards, it's a live ball and it's a fumble. It could be picked up. So that, for instance, in the AFC championship game Denver and New England leading to a huge turnover. But the rule is different when you get hit in the arms going forward. It doesn't matter where here's Mike Pereira trying to explain him because long, long story short, it went from a scoop and score for the visitors to an incomplete pass. And obviously it didn't pass the sniff test for how it looks and it played a big role in a game that ended with a one point differential. Here's Pereira explaining it to the audience in real time. He had started his throwing motion. Now throwing motion is bringing the ball up. Forget about the hand at this point going forward. Throwing motion starts hand going up. Then his hits. Ball comes loose. His intent was to throw it forward. And since that motion had already started, that's going to be a forward pass, no matter where it lands. And there's a pool reporter counter that spoke with Vice President of Instant Replay, Mark Butterworth.

1:04:51He's probably in Cahoots with Far Book if I had to guess. Or Mrs. Butterworth. And they give a plural. He's married to someone named Mrs. Butterworth. That's crazy. Exactly. But like they go as a long explanation that's given and it's like, so they got the call right. But you know what? Like Nick Underhill wrote on Twitter. Still doesn't make sense to me. Here's one of those things. Maybe we've got to get the common sense police in the room, just straighten this one out down the line. Yeah. I mean, I threw this in the rundown as soon as I saw Butterworth, I know that's your guy. I'm anytime there's any Butterworth action out there. But the poor ports always take on a portal over us. One better where it's in the rundown. The poor port always takes on like a similar rhythm where it's like, hey, what the **** happened? And then the refs just talk for five minutes and like, yeah, you're a dumbass. You just don't know the rules. And then you just go, okay, **** me and you walk away. Like there's just no, there's no like, like, you know, we should riot more. Like we should burn things down when they don't go our way. Like the super dome on fire. See what happens. There's no accountability around officials. Can we just leave the super dome alone?

1:05:52Fair. All right. Yeah. Actually, let's do a test. Let's do a Tesla test. Tesla say a bunch of bad stuff about New Orleans going. So I love the city on some level. But when we were there, like it's like the biggest event of the city's lifetime. We're having a massive super bowl. And the electricity goes out. It's like, there's no accountability. It's like, it's gone. That's pretty tame. That's not going to get. That's not going to move the needle. But that's good. We don't want this. I fell over and nearly I'm still thinking about the fact that I'm going to be a fact that I was on heavy blood thinners and who knows what else. And like fell over and nearly smashed my head into a glass table in New Orleans when we went there for the super. How that happened? I might have died that night. So I wouldn't have been a fan. Right. I'm more of a fan of the city than I might have been. That feels like more on you thing than on the city or the table, even. But we digress. We have so much to get to. I'll take the blame for that. Let's take a break and we will continue on because I really got to talk about this Jets Titans game. I didn't really see what happens. I want to talk about it and find out. Stay right there. 1:09:05And if the Jets, because I was very bullish on the preview show that Jets would win this game, if the Jets lost, Justin would be able to play all that audio back to me and make me feel terrible. With that said, let's check out the highlight from this game. Little Mr. Reckon and the Ramplay said, big bangs it in. Put a Jets touch down. As they throw down the gauntlet here in Nashville. No, we threw down the gauntlet gravy. Oh, how did we? First of all, we storm the gates. We fill up that building with green. Put a junk down in Nashville. You can't even fill out your stadium and the weak one. And that was just the beginning of the problem for the Titans who get thrashed at all levels in the trenches, especially as the Jets in this new fresh reset with Aaron Glenn, get the victory they desperately need. 23 to 10 over a lifeless Tennessee Titans team. Oh, this is the Mortal Kombat song, right?

1:10:06Turn this up in my headphones. Well, it's being turned up in all our headphones. One, two, three, go! Oh, Justin and Streams were crushed by my favorite team. By my favorite team. By my favorite team, Pam Moore's a hubbust. Justin, I told you, I try to warn you. I look at myself as like a unk to you, right? And I said so much about this Titans team reminds me of so many bad Jets teams in recent years. And the Titans will lean into it by hiring a failed Jets coach. They didn't feel like they would be a team ready for the bell. And the Jets conversely with their influx of new veteran talent looked like a team ready for the game. Influx. And that's where we're at.

1:11:07This is a jet team that was ready for the bell and a Titans team that never showed up. Totally. The Titans were completely flat. They came out in lifeless in this game. They couldn't stop the run. They couldn't protect the quarterback. They were an abomination. It was embarrassing. It was terrible. I mean, we got this fun sound from the middle of the third quarter. And the Titans offense boot off the field here in Nashville. I mean, give me a break. It was. It was ridiculous. Can I tell you like again, I'm not trying to be mean, but so many of those like third and longs that led to. I hate to say this, dude, because I know you have a lot of you're wearing his jersey right now. But the third in longs where the young quarterback takes the snap back pedals, scrambles out toward the sideline. All of a sudden, he's 14 yards away from the line of scrimmage and then sales it out of bounds. I was like, this is Zach Wilson that I'm watching right now. But I'm sure Robert Salis think of the same thing as like, wait a second. Like, do I have this type of quarterback again on my hands?

1:12:08And I'm not going to blame this game on cam ward because they really did get their asses kicked in the trenches. The jets past rush overwhelmed the Tennessee offensive line. And the special teams wasn't great. The punter did a bad job. The defense left a lot of wide open receivers and Gina smithed a nice job picking picking out those wide open receivers. But cam ward did not look special in this game and not even close just. And it's your two now. So it's time to start going. I agree. Cam ward didn't do anything to get them going when they needed somebody to get them going. But neither did anybody on the field. This is what I harped on on the good kind of smile. We haven't heard from counter yet. On this just in on the other guy to podcast, I harped on the fact that the Titans playmakers do they have any? Do they have a single playmaker because not a single player on the team throughout the duration of the entire game made a play the only play they made? What about all those text I was getting this summer about carnal tape? Is that got was he playing today?

1:13:08I mean, cam ward. I don't have a look at the advanced stats on this, but off the top of my head, cam ward was 0 for 5 on passes that traveled more than 10 air yards just from my watch. I'm pretty sure that sounds good. That sounds positive. Four of them landed out of bounds along the sidelines and then he missed tape on that crosser over the middle. It would have been a big play in the second quarter, I think. But only five attempts even down the field because every time he dropped back to pass, he was under instant pressure. And I thought he actually did a good job making decisions, using his legs to pick up yards. He just didn't have anything. The few times he had time to throw, there was nobody open. Yeah. Early on, early on, he did a nice job where the jets would leave the back door open on scramble and he would pick up yardage. But once the game really started to take on its full form and you know, you go into the half and you're thinking, maybe my coaching staff, Ryan Davies, that we make adjustments. It got worse when they came out of the tunnel. And there would just be this white flag that was going up. There was a stat, you know, they have that, it's like, I don't know what they call it,

1:14:08but it's like essentially, it's a cowardice test where it's a reason you go for it. Surrender index. And they had a punt where they were down what, 17, three or whatever, 23 and it was fourth and medium right around midfield. And they punt the ball. It was a 100% surrender. Yeah. Yeah. And it was like in the top five highest surrender rates in like what, 30 years or something. And it was just like that was such a fitting way to paint the picture of this game and the performance by the home team. It wasn't a terrible decision to punt. I didn't think, but it was a terrible punt. They end up gaining 24 yards of field position that New York immediately gains back in like two plays. Well, you know what? Who cares about the Titans? Because there's about the Jets today. The Jets look good. I mean, the Jets. I want to hear from Keith Hansess right now. Get me Keith Hansess on the line right now. Woo. Woo.

1:15:10Woo. Go, go, go, go. Go, go, go, go, go. I love that song. Great wind today by the Jets. I opened up the season in Tennessee in great fashion. The offense played very well. Geno Smith 19 to 24, which was surprising, but great. Hall once again consistent with his running. That was also great. Yeah. Biggest thing, the offensive line, which has been a trouble for them for the last couple of years, was outstanding. On defense, the defense was right there stopping Kim Ward and the rushing attack and putting tremendous pressure on the pass rush on Ward, which I thought was really good. Okay. I was happy with the performance by the Jets. And one was the last time that the Jets had three things working together.

1:16:12Their offense, defense, and kicking game. And that all worked together and I produced a win. Go Jets. Yeah, dad. Case closed. You made my dad happy. Shout out to Stiggers who had an incredible game on special teams as well. It was a really strong effort. And Connor, like talked about going into this game that this is a major game in the Aaron Glenn era because with a tough schedule ahead after a summer of hype about a reset for the team, if they go out and get beat by the Titans and look bad doing it, a lot of bad energy is around this team. Instead, you have the opposite. Yeah. And I think it's just, I mean, you would know you've experienced it on a far deeper level. When you look back at the recent past, just the sheer depths of the quarterback play that they've had to endure, right? The Chris Strevler Knights, you know, the dark Zach Wilson era, you know, the Justin Field's era where he's benched after a couple of weeks, you know, all of this stuff leads to the capable Geno Smith.

1:17:12And it's just like the simple stuff running the plays is designed, understanding what the coverage is giving you, getting guys like Garrett Wilson to just show you why he's Garrett Wilson. Like, you know, it doesn't feel like asking a lot, but for Jets fans, you're starved for this kind of competence. And so in a way, it makes it a lot sweeter. It's like a, it's like a hungry person finally making it to McDonald's. Only a clownish, only a clownish idiot would not be happy for your father in that clip right now. What about Kensington Kensington the fourth? Well, I think he's probably changing his tune a little bit tonight. What was that Kensington? I laughed this team. One more. I laughed this team. Okay, that's probably my key hand right now. May Kensington happy. Immediately old Zeus are happy. Yeah, everybody's happy. And I would say one thing to you, Justin, but we're going to be totally happy. Well, no, as someone, I have a bit of an experience of watching football outfits with lacking quarterback play problematic head coaches that you just hired and everyone in between.

1:18:13And I'm a little concerned for your experience as a Titans fan. Good luck to your podcast though. I mean, it's, you know, everything like you're telling there was amazing work. Cam Ward was pressured on 42.1% of his dropbacks. That obviously includes like the really quick passes where there's no chance to get pressure. I mean, he didn't say a chance. He also didn't look great. He missed throws. I was going to say the dreaded two things can be true. Like they did a bad job taking care of him. But when he had opportunities, he didn't look great either. And in general, the vibes didn't feel great. Like they threw it to a deity at one point. And he was like, you guys aren't going to believe it. Cam Ward just pulled everybody aside and say, this game's not over. Let's get going. And then three and out like immediately after it was just like, there's no juice on the sideline at one point. I totally agree the juice. Like what the hell, man? God, I'm pissed. They were flat. They didn't show up. I'm pissed. They weren't ready to play. And I guess it all say we could one is a liar. Patriots lost to the Raiders are going to the Super Bowl.

1:19:13Well, plenty of great teams also won. And to say that for this just in and the other one to podcast all week, wherever you get your podcast. Welcome back to this just in and the other one to. 1:20:13All right. You want to talk about the brands now, Mark? I guess we got it. Okay. Watson under pressure shift. He closed to his left. Intercepted at the 20 yard line right out of the gates. And the Jaguars will get the football. The Sean Watson was leading a comfortable drive. But Oluokade was able to come in and snuck that one out. Here's the good news. Tom McCarthy on the call for CBS. It says in a rundown that that was a pick six. I don't think it was a pick six. I think it was just an interception. So that's a positive one. Okay. But other than that, it was a tough season opener for the Cleveland Browns and a very, very successful one for the Jacksonville Jaguars who take a 24-nothing lead into the half, proves to a 34-10 victory. Trevor Lawrence looks great throwing four touchdown passes on just 23 attempts.

1:21:14And to Sean Watson, you know, that was the only interception he had in the game. But if I am to believe both texts coming from Cessler Manor during this game and some tweets I saw out there, Cleveland's offense looked pretty lifeless. Nobody looked great in Cleveland on either side of the ball. It seems like Mark. It is already dead. The Cleveland Browns have already died. The bigger story is how great Jacksonville looked. I thought they looked. They're offense. It felt like a complete and total continuation of what Liam Cohen and Trevor Lawrence have built together. They were on point. I am actually a little surprised by how bad the Browns looked. Because if there's one thing that we could kind of have hanged our hats on, Miles Garrett or not, that the defense under Jim Schwartz, who's now gone obviously, was competent. And keeping them in games they had no business being in. This was a visual feast if you enjoyed disasters.

1:22:17It was embarrassing. I am embarrassed to be a Cleveland Browns fan today. That is how they made me feel. I don't think a single team looked worse than the Cleveland Browns today. That is saying something because I think there's talent on this team. I kind of like the coach or I want to like the coach. It was an embarrassment. I'm embarrassed to have asked anyone to marry me. I'm embarrassed to have had children. I'm embarrassed to be anyone's friend when I walk around as a fan of this team. I am done. It is dead. You are not going to do this to me every week. Good job, Jacksonville Jaguars. You went out there and kicked the ass of a team that looked completely directionless. I am at the point now where my irritation is even fading away. I am feeling nothing. I am starting to feel nothing. You brought me to this point. How dare you start this quarterback and do this to your fan base.

1:23:17Some of the best fans in sports. It is an embarrassment. It's bad. No. No. Not good. This is more? Winner has to complain. There are a few. And, after this top market after the game, As is, this is always this way, whatever the team is. When you have a quarterback, that is not any good, They decide to pick the quarterback. You will get the prep game report. Not only is the Shawn Watson The QB path. The head coach says that is going to stay that way. And this guy is loved in the locker room. actually to do the thing called play football. Here's what Malkin said about the quarterback position after thumping. I'd rather just talk about today because I haven't had time to even look at the tape. I mean, I'm sure it's hell not firing me. I'm not firing our staff. I have to hold on on players. So we have to be one of 53. And I'm going to go in there. I'm going to go in there. So guys, we got and our staff. He's one of that. So we'll evaluate everything. But to just say that emotionally here at the end, when we're, you know, I mean, he was didn't play good enough.

1:24:19They didn't coach well enough. Sweet wine. Good afternoon. And thank you for holding. I have Mark Cessler on the line from quiet storm crisis management. We're patching Mark through right now. I mean, do we really think Mark that Todd Malkin's going to be able to weather the story? This turns into what it certainly feels like one of those two and 15 death bombs. You've been on this beat for a long time. And I think the problem is the pain so many coaches that have not finished their terms with the Browns at this point. And they're a billionaire owner who doesn't care about the fan basins about to create a new stadium where the tickets are going to be the price for tickets for season ticket holders. We'll take normal Browns fans out of the picture of going to those games. And what is the product? The product is a dark disgrace. Connor, I have never seen. I have never been more disappointing with a football team than I am right now with this team. And it's been a long journey to get to here. Two things. There was a moment in this game where there was a delay game in Dishon couldn't get the play off.

1:25:20And it was 31 to nothing. And Munkin just dropped his head like, you know, if you're toddler, just spilled a bottle of milk all over the floor. And it was one of the funniest things that I'd ever seen. But to your point about this, right? We just watched Justin's Archman and come back and Bito Hiho stayed in a thrilling game on Saturday. He looked real as real. OK. If this team has the number one pick in the upcoming NFL draft, we are going to have real discussions about whether this kid wants to go there or whether anybody wants to go there, right? I mean, it's becoming that bad already. And this is week one. And Todd Munkin is saying, well, I'm not going to fire myself. This is week one. You know, I mean, I think the Browns have always pegged themselves like, oh, we're smarter than everybody. We've got the long plan. But like, at some point, you have to show some base level of competence on the field to make other people want to come there and play for you. Yeah. And before we move on, Mark, I know you had added the Guns and Roses song to our run down.

1:26:21I used to love her, but I had to kill her. We can't play that for copyright reasons. But I understand why you added that to the run down today. And it's a nice little lie. I think it's a great B side of it. Maybe it was on, was it lies? G in our lies? Good so. I'd have to confirm, but that's how I... Those are the words of how I felt for most of the day. So yes, that's why I added it. All right, let's head to... Oh, we were trying to figure out on Thursday what makes no sense game would be. We found it right here in our own backyard. Second down goal to the end zone. They said cut, touchdown! It's mid-bride! They're 39-year-old head coach making his head coaching in a fell debut. Pehoko comes up with a block punt of scot, and they conferred with reset throwing a touchdown pass of three yards to the tight end, mid-bride. Yeah, Matt LaFlor 8-shit today. But Milf, Mike LaFlor, had a wonderful Sunday.

1:27:25NFL debut as head coach ends with a 26-to-14 win over the chargers right here in Los Angeles. And good for the Cardinals and just and good for all the people and I was not one of them. That were like, hey, pump the brakes on this Cardinals being like the worst team in the league potentially in that bad-ass division. They proved, and we'll get into the charger side, but going on the road in week one and outplaying the chargers. This was not a fluke the way this turned out, right? I mean... I don't know. It was some big picture. This game itself, I mean, yeah. There were some fluke aspects to this game, like a fumble, a blocked punt, the kind of thing that can swing the outcome of a football game where the ball bounces weird. I don't know if a blocked punt counts as fluke. Well, it's something that you're not going to repeat every single week. Got it. Got you. But at the same time, the Cardinals gained 393 yards of offense compared to 268 for LA.

1:28:30LA started pretty good on offense, but they also kind of looked at a sink from most of the game, just like, misq after misq, sacks taken when they needed a conversion. And they couldn't stop for the most part. This Cardinals offense that I said on our preview show, nobody knows what Michael Floor's offense is going to look like. And week one is the time they can go take advantage of that. They have Jacoby Berset, who's not like, sure, he's not your top 10 quarterback or whatever, but he's not a bad quarterback. He's a fine starter as a bridge guy while you're trying to build up the rest of the roster. Yeah, that's a bridge guy. Yeah, better than a bridge guy. He played well today. McBride is obviously a playmaker. Michael Wilson is their White receiver one. Marvin Harrison only had one catch, but it was a really nice sideline 33 yard grab. And I just ran a Marvin Harrison, by the way, in year three, it's like, yeah, I had one catch, but it sure was a great one. It was a nice catch, but I'm in germ, I love, looked electric every time he got to touch the ball in this game. And so I just feel like they are building something here that when they're ready for their franchise quarterback to come in, he's going to walk into a pretty good situation.

1:29:34The problem becomes like how many games do you win and do you take yourself out of that at the top of the draft, but well, yeah, we'll see. I mean, over four and a half look in pretty nice after this one. They don't they have they have they have they would win this game when we did our over underdraft. They have a they have talent to do for offensive skill position. Yes, they think that we want to see too. Yeah, okay. I mean, it's a it's a mess if you're the one just that needs a W today and we're going to have a team this year in the NFC that one. Any misery. That's not what we want. Yeah, I wonder what the because I'm kind of fascinated by the Jim Harboh Mike McDaniel marriage and everything is hunky Dory in the summer when everybody is hugging each other and giving press conferences with their sunglasses on, but you know, 268 total yards against that Arizona team again. We don't know this Arizona defense Connor isn't last year's Arizona defense, but you certainly expect again at home to be more representative than that.

1:30:34And I guess I would think especially for Justin Herbert coming off the worst game of his career. The last time we saw him on the field in the playoffs last season, this is not how you wanted to get your year off. No, and I was just surprised of at how very un mic mcDanieli this whole operation was. I think we had an idea of how this was supposed to look. You know, we had a sample size in Miami. But then you just look at the box square after this game and like nothing went right. I mean, Justin Herbert was your second leading rusher. I'm Ariane Hampton, 3.6 yards of carry and then Keaton Mitchell, the one that Mike McDaniel was banging the table for and saying, this is going to be our home run hitter. This is going to be the guy that breaks open the offense. I mean, what did he have something like nine yards on four carries and they were kind of shoe horning him into weird goal line situations to in this game, which I thought wasn't the right place to use him. So I don't know, this is very, very unchargers like performance, but maybe a preview of things to come. Anything else on this one, Justin? Just a quick button for Chargers fans to take away is like, this is the type of week one

1:31:38game that I think is a liar. I mean, they're all learning a new scheme. Hampton didn't have a ton of room to run. He did have a couple of nice looking plays. I think this is the type of team that's going to get better at the season goes on. Well, that's why they call it a makes no sense game. You know what I mean? You know what I mean? All right. Now. Tobagus. This is coming. For the Arizona, the government, high for Jesse, who's going to get into the zone. And as to Jesse has his second touchdown of the day. Speaking guys, you know, you want to see just like Jeremiah Love in Arizona, what does Ashton Jettie look like, you know, an ankle issue and he's coming off a very frustrating rookie year, even though he was pretty productive, even in that slop less year. Anyway, new year and the Raiders get going and do the thing that a lot of teams are going to do this year, which is beat the dolphins, Handley, 27 to 13. I think this is the scariest thing and this is in no way a pile on on the dolphins because

1:32:40it's going to be a tough year for dolphins fans. But I didn't even think the dolphins played terribly. I would imagine this is like a representative effort when things aren't going terribly. I think there's going to be shit, things are going terribly, weeks for the dolphins where it's going to get grisly. This was them kind of being able to hang around a little bit before the Raiders pull away. But if you're like, if we're actually going to be talking about the who's going to get the number one pick and maybe Archman or whomever, look out because the Raiders, it's a game where you're watching it, Connor, and it's like, all right, like, are the Raiders just a lot better under Clint Cubiak this year? Or the dolphins just absolutely wretched. Whatever it is, it could be both Raiders crews. Another game, too, where Ash and Jenny, 100 yards and then kind of a monster in the receiving game. And it just makes you wonder, like, what the hell everyone was doing there the year before with like, now, Grant, you upgraded the offensive line.

1:33:41You got Tyler Lindbergh, Linda Balmissoff, season Kirk Cousins. There are differences with this team last year, but even like Jack Bash, you couldn't see the field last year with this Raiders team is getting some action. And so again, it's like the, it's like the same thing with the Ravens. What happens when you just change your perception just a little bit on talented players? And as Clint Cubiak, like, you know, I mean, how, what coaching families are closer than the Cubiaks and the Shanahens? I mean, the older Cubiak was literally the backup quarterback for Mike Shanahan. He got him into coaching Kyle Shanahan got his first job from Gary Cubiak. I mean, there's a lot of shared information and knowledge there. And like, if Clint Cubiak is just this guy that's going to be a great coach, we saw the last year, we saw it with Sam Darnold. Um, I feel really different about the Raiders, not just based on this game, just that like, they might finally have a plan for the first time in my adulthood. Yeah, the, uh, Kirk Cousins threw two picks in this game, but also through a couple touchdowns and three

1:34:43touchdowns, I think actually. And, uh, now has more touchdown passes in his career than John L. Way. Like for the guy that was drafted three rounds after RG3, um, by Washington, all those years ago, if you would have told me that, oh, that guy who's buried on the depth chart behind Robert Griffin, who's going to be the starter in Washington for 15 years, he's going to throw more touchdown passes than John L. Way. I would say stop doing crack. It's bad for you. Um, but that's where we're at. Um, so good for Kirk Cousins. And, uh, I thought the biggest difference. And if we remember watching the Raiders last year, the offensive line was competitive. And it actually opened up holes for Ash and Gentie and gave Kirk Cousins some time. We know Kirk Cousins cannot move. So the ability, his ability to hang in the pocket and make some throws, um, all shows progress. And it's a new scheme, obviously with Kubiak as well. So great. I was a perfect landing spot. Great way to start your season for the Raiders, having that opponent at home, uh, it gets

He's saying, now, man, I'm just on my 13 winning ball games. And you could, I know we're literally were one stub toe away from Matt Ryan as

1:40:54quarterback of the Falcons this weekend. I don't care. The Steelers took care of business 20 to 13 over Cooper Rush and the Atlanta Falcons, getting a new era in Pittsburgh off on the right foot, Connor. I loved this game. There were like three insanely awesome stats or occurrences in this game that just made, they just wore my heart. The first. So Sumer Sports is like an analytic sports side. It's very good. They've cataloged so far, 1,097 games. Okay. That they've broken down of historical NFL football. This ranked 1,069th in terms of EPA per play offensively. One of the worst games of the paper play it off its ever. Nick Folk missed two kicks. The Steelers blew up a field goal. TJ Watt, the pick six that really kind of turned the game around for the Steelers. Just no one touched him. Yeah, he tumbled down and he never said time someone taps him and there's nobody tapped them.

1:41:58Right. T there was tons of wide receiver drops. I don't know what's going on with DK Mechkav. And then in very prototypical Aaron Rodgers fashion, we go out and get Michael Pitman, but Aaron Rodgers hasn't known him for 13 years. So he doesn't throw him the football. And like I think he had three targets in this game and it was just beautiful. And then after the game, he's just walking around like the field general like, oh, yeah, like we nailed it and everything was great. And it's like, no, you were barely beating this Falcon steam with Cooper rush. It was, it was, oh, the whole thing was just beautiful. I loved it. How bad is it gotten for the Falcons very quickly? Well, here's what's crazy about this. And Aaron Rodgers did talk about this after the game. And I thought he was right every time Bija and Robinson touched the ball, it was electric. And I think that had he had a functional surrounding cast like a quarter, an actual quarterback in this game, this guy is going to do some horrendous things to defense this year. And he was in awful situations, eight defenders in the box, all that kind of stuff. And he was still making stuff happen every time he had the ball like there was just an

1:43:01or a baton that was that was crazy. And he does, he reminds me a lot of some of those like Eric Dickerson as a example, I've made a truly great running back stuck on a bad team, just being heroic. And maybe not getting the most out of it. Like listen, Cooper rush wasn't good in this game. It was even crazier than, then we even realize because he has, he goes down with back spasms and a run through leading into this game, casting some doubt on whether he was available after two goes out with the, I guess it was a ribcage strain. We know that Penex is not ready, but he could be ready soon. It's just going to be a very tough role. Now they get the Panthers in week two and we'll talk about week two when it's time to talk about week two. But that's a team that just gave up 59 points. But you're going to need a quarterback who could be functional to win football games. And it doesn't Nick Foku. I was bummed about the Jess letting go. Missing two field goal attempts. He had missed two in the last three seasons combined.

1:44:03That's how good he's been quietly, but he wasn't good enough today. One more oddity that I absolutely adored about this game. No Joey Porter obviously with the contract dispute. He was the first guy out of there kind of pulled the hoodie up and kind of ran out of the stadium so that no one could talk to him. The Steelers did not play a single snap of man coverage, not one. They played zone every snap. That is wild. I think it only happened once last year and like a couple of times over the last five years. That's crazy. So just no respect for the opponent. Yeah, they just like now we're just going to not let me general and some beat us. Yeah. All right. That's it. Oh, yes. Justin. Block bros. Let's go. And I got to feel I feel a little dirty about this one. Me too. You do. At the same time, you got to take the dubs. You just got to go get dubs and then it will all even out. There'll be a couple crazy locks along the line and I don't I don't apologize for anything in the win. Call. No, when's a win? We game to the system a little bit by picking this against a spread that had been set prior to two O being rolled out.

1:45:08But that's not I mean, that's the same opportunity in it. And these two. Yeah, these two. Well, it's far from memorable. It isn't, but the only thing that matters is the standings and that will carry on. Right. Connor, I hope you're taking notes. I like I would take a dirty win. I would take a you know, like I'm thinking about just looking at the spreads and telling you guys I'm not like I need to reverse it somehow. I need to I need to get on the board here. All right. Sorry, buddy. Okay. One more game. Sunday night football. Throwes it again, the single Terry on the lucky. So the five and into the touchdown. Third touchdown pass for Jackson. I got it and they ran the same play over and over again. And the giants widen their lead with 726 to go. Bob Poppin, Carl Banks with the call. Me, you don't see that a lot. I used to cover high school football and you would see that a lot.

1:46:11What is this? Calypso music. I'm loving this. Let's go. When you're covered high school football. In the lower Hudson Valley. Let's say it's a Nanyu ad against Nyak. And Nyak starts, you know, working on a little swing pattern. And for some reason they don't diagnose the play. So you've run it again. And then again. And again. And you win the game because the other team can't adjust. But you don't see that in the pros. So consider it troubling that the new look Cowboys defense struggles mightily against Jackson, dark and New York giants. Final score from the metallands, a rockest metal and 28 to 20 in favor of the gym in the first game of the John Harbaugh era. And Connor could not start any better for the giants. I thought it was like an all around great performance from dark to the

1:47:15defense to of course, the new coaching staff who get off a new average giant football with a beautiful win against the rival against all odds. Right. I mean, this is the first time Abdul Carter, who looked lifeless and disinterested last year had like free safety agility. He was sideline to sideline the whole game making really great plays. Malachi fields looks like a player after we talked about their lack of receiver depth all off season. Kim Skataba was back flipping on a shattered ankle and looked like kind of the that the next great one hit wonder and was super effective in this game to picked up a key first down at the end of that one too or made a third manageable. But all of it. I mean, it's like everything we imagine the giants to be in a best case dream in a world where we're not allowed to think about bad things. I mean, and the manner in which they dominated a Cowboys defense that presumably was going to look a lot different long enduring drives,

1:48:15long touchdown drives that I think showed and that I think there were a lot of players like this on this Sunday and week one that might have could have maybe used a little bit more preseason work in terms of conditioning. The Cowboys looked winded to me. They looked lost and to your point and like they couldn't solve the puzzle. And I mean, I'm pretty surprised by this giants offense to come out and do what it did. They just overpowered Dallas. And if you're Christian Parker, who I thought like this is the kind of guy that's going to win coordinator of the year because the Dallas defense going to look so different. And this team is that I just picked to win the Super Bowl looked like they don't even know what they're doing at this point on it was a really concerning effort by the Cowboys on both sides of the ball. And it was my lock. So I'm having the Sunday of all Sundays. It's it felt even by Cessler standards riding with the Cowboys is blown out a team in on Super Bowl Sunday. It was like kind of neat to see it and all that defense like, oh, now the defense

1:49:18is fixed. It's like, all right, let me see that. And I just I thought that they could not they couldn't get a stop in that second half. Like and they had multiple opportunities, including some third in longs, where it's just like just get off the field. And on top of that, you also have, you know, personal fouls, you have late hits, you have a face mask and the missed extra point. Yeah. Well, they yeah. And then they get the, they finally get things going and they're about to, they get it to and Tarekko did say when he came back from the break, but I was like kind of yelling at the TV when it happened when, who was it? Javante Williams does the taunting penalty. What teams do now is when you're down 14, you go for two twice. So they're set up to go for two. And who knows what happens? Cause if they get to, they get to, it's 28, 22. And the pressure is a little, a little more, but instead it's a 15 yard penalty. They add it. Now now you have Aubrey having a kick of 48 yard extra point. And of course, then he pushes it right.

1:50:19And it just felt like this, yeah, that this all checks out for the Cowboys team that showed up today in Northern New Jersey. So it is way too early again. You don't want to take too much out of one game, right? And that's one of the lessons of this week one. But you can also have a lot to be excited about as a giants fan coming out of this game, Connor, because you and I have been locked up on this. Like this is a, just a multi year job for John Harb at a take over this team and make it the team in his image. And but then you have a game like this in week one. And then if you're a giants fan and I have tons of giants fans, texting constantly right now about the giants. Like you, you're allowed to dream. You're allowed to say, well, maybe it's one of those things where a new guy comes in and everything is different. So beautiful night in the metal hands for the, for the home team. So I think the positive that you can take out of tonight that's replicable. That's long term. The fact that like this run game is really well designed. Uh, when I talked to John Harb about this, I was like, what about the combination of Matt Nagy and Greg Roman kind of struck you? And he was like, nothing.

1:51:20I mean, there was no common ground between either them. We had to create something that was brand new and what they created was a really well designed run run game. And I think that Skatebo was unleashed, but they blocked everything up. Really smart. They add additions of like Isaiah, likely in Patrick or card, just made the whole thing really sensible and effort, right? I mean, defensively like, you know, you just saw these players in games, interested, invested in ways that they hadn't been the year before. And so when you're looking for what you can move for with a new head coach, because again, a lot of this stuff is fagazzy after one week. That's the kind of stuff that you're like, we can count on this. We know that this is going to be a weekend and week out thing for us. And to have Kim Skatebo looked the way he did where I thought even a month ago, I was like, I don't know how healthy this guy is. Um, but like the idea that we're done using Jackson Dart on the ground. No, instead he puts up 50 plus yards on the ground. And it's like, they're a really versatile injury. We saw it in little moments a year ago. Um, and then it all faded away and there were injuries.

1:52:21And they seem like the giants feel like they've been banged up eternally going back to the heart of the Daniel Jones days. Um, this team went healthy like this. They were powerful. And it looked to me like the giants that I enjoyed watching when I was young. And I think Harboff fits right into that and so does Greg Roman. And it's a win for Matt Nagy as well, who I think is Q rating has been pretty low. I've been down on that guy, but it's like, um, they put together a watchable, powerful offense that he was cooked in tonight. And it he was held that that Cowboys defense is paper tissue. So yes. Um, but listen, you play your opponent and, uh, and that was not what we were being sold as the Cowboys defense coming in, but they look very familiar to those Cowboys defense that have held this team back for way too long. I thought Collins was hit the nail in the head with scatter. Boo. When he's off the field, the giants just feel like a different type of offense. He also got away with a what could have been a heinous fumble in the second half, but the ball bounce right back to him. It was that type of night for the giants. Um, and yeah, I'll just, you know, Malik neighbors plays in this game and he

1:53:23makes some play six or 69 and nine targets. I'd the Isaiah likely acquisition looks really good early on eight for 78 and two scores, including didn't he have the catch that basically sealed it at the end as well. So that's, I mean, that's an A plus game. Unlike some of the some of his end of game antics in Baltimore. This was a better. All the toes got down this time. And my only other takeaway from the game is, uh, because it was a disappointing night for Dallas, also on the offensive side. I know they kind of heated up a little bit in their last scoring drive, but they no pushing the ball down field. It was just no, no excitement, no energy. And that's one point Collins were the even called it. And I was like, this team has two of the maybe top 15 12 to 15 wide receivers in the whole league and CD lamb and George Pickens. And there's just everything was short and everything was so conservative. I just like one of those and, you know, you have guys like Jake Ferguson, the high punny this summer, two for six on two targets in this game. Just kind of not a berry of the ball game for the Cowboys, but also not your proof

1:54:25of concept that we're different this year was blown up pretty quickly. So they have a lot of very someone. Yeah. Let's see. Let's see where they got next week home against the commies. That's going to be. I don't know. That's a little bit. He's going to get out of their own to that division. There you go. That's week one in the National Football League.
