Welcome to Down to Dunk. Episode two of the L Baby Cakes and McKelle take over. Last time we spoke to you, we started our Down to Dunk expansion draft, which we hadn't done since 2023, summer of 2023. So we're doing a new version of it, all ending, all culminating in a Down to Dunk expansion draft on Friday. We did the Western Conference. On Monday, we're going to do the Eastern Conference today. And I am joined by my friend, McKelle Ibera.

4:08McKelle, how you doing? I'm doing perfectly fine. It's nighttime here. So not as beautiful as Sunday, but still. It's a good way to start a week. Great day to start a week. Now McKelle, before we jump into the Eastern Conference, just a quick recap. I'm not going to do all the teams, but I just wanted to, in case people didn't get to watch Monday, just recap the decision we made for the Oklahoma City Thunder.

5:12Because I would, would you say that the Thunder were the hardest team in the league? Yeah, I mean, we had like a very interesting discussion about Dallas. I think that there are a few teams here in the East where we could have discussions. But for OKC, I mean, once you settled into, hey, they have a championship team. They have to protect all their players. It's not that hard. Probably the way in which I would phrase it is that both OKC and Dallas have very good players that we left unprotected, like not like one or two, like three, four, five good players. Right. Yeah, and the final decision for OKC, basically we unprotected all their young players. So Sturts, Mara, Sorber, Topic, and then it came down to Jared McCain versus J. Will. And I recently went Jared McCain, but Mikey talked me into it. I flipped to J. Will.

6:14So J. Will is going to be unprotected in our draft. And one of the reasons we actually came down to was we thought it was more likely that someone like Mara would be drafted over J. Will. Whereas if McCain was there, we think McCain might get drafted over Mara. Yeah. So that was kind of the ultimately the decision. Yeah, in a down-to-dunk expansion draft, that I'm not sure that that will happen in a very normal draft. I mean, I bet that the team will just try to snack one of the rookies, maybe Mara, because it's the highest in terms of potential. And just maybe they have less use of a guy like J. Will. Whereas I'm not sure that J. Ann or Luke will pass on J. Will. But we'll see. I also learned today that Luke and Taylor are both on airplanes somewhere else. So it will be J versus somebody. Stay tuned to find out who. I do not know yet. Okay.

7:14So let me share my screen. So we're doing the Eastern Conference. And we're starting with the Atlantic Division. McEle is going to take the lead on our first team and then we'll alternate back and forth. So ultimately the final decision on a given team comes down to the person who's in charge of that team. So I can try to talk you out of your decisions, but it's ultimately your call. And we're going to start with the Boston Celtics who have 12 eligible players. Jason Tatum, Paul George, Derek White, Mitchell Robinson, Sam Hauser, Pete Pritchard, Ron Harper Jr. Chris and I Jr. Hugo Gonzalez, Baylor Shireman, Namias Cata and Jordan Walsh. Walsh. So we'll kill eight. How did you go with the Celtics? I went in a boring way. It's fine. I think that the only wheel discussion point is shall I protect the rookie that they just drafted over someone that can produce. I think her a little bit with that. In the end, I decide to go with the similar rule that I use for OKC.

8:21They are competing for a championship today. They have good players. They will protect all the players that can play. And so this is Jason Tatum, George White, Hauser Pritchard, Mitchell Robinson and Namias Cata and Hugo Gonzalez. And I ended up unprotecting Shireman Walsh, Sennaq and Harper. Exactly as you did. Exactly the same. Yeah. I went down the same road. I think maybe if I liked Chris Sennaq Jr. more as a prospect, I could have been talked in to him. I just wasn't a huge fan of his. Based on how everyone talks about him, he feels like a project. It's going to take a few years. And for a team like the Celtics, like you said, I know that some people think they might have taken a step back or at least didn't like the Jalen Brown trade, but this team is still going to be just a buzz saw in the regular season. Yeah. And I think that in the playoffs, they gained something that they didn't have last year. Mitchell Robinson is a fantastic 15 to 22 minutes player in the playoffs.

9:26He will go all the way back to like a maniac. He will defend like crazy. And in a space out offense where he doesn't have to like do fence stuff like screening wise, Boston is a is a gunning team. So a guy like that, I think can elevate a little bit what they can do in the post season, especially. Yeah. I mean, their whole thing, similar to OKC is like this possession maxing, like try to squeeze extra possessions out of every game. And they do it with the rebounding and not turning the ball over, whereas OKC does it by not turning ball over, but also turning the other team over. They've really, they've been a good rebounding team. So adding Mitchell Robinson to that team is just adding on doubling down on a strength. And he's, I mean, he's the best in the league literally at offensive. He had the number one offensive rebound percentage other than Mo Bomba, but a bomb only played four games. I was looking at this last night. That's the only reason I know that. OK, let's move on to the Philadelphia 76ers. You've got Jalen Brown, Joellen Bied, Tyrese Maxi, Vijay Edgecom, Dean Wade, Amphardy

10:30Simons, LeBron James, LeBaron Phylon, Justin Edwards, and Adembona. So you only have to unprotect to. I considered M Bied, but let's be honest, he's not getting drafted. He's not getting drafted by another team. I know. Maybe in the down-dunk expansion draft, but I just think that's a hard contract to take on. Of course, this is going to, this theoretical draft that we're doing would happen at the end of this upcoming season. So maybe we feel differently or even worse about it at that time. But for me, I decided to just keep M Bied. That was really the only question, question I had on this team. The two names I left unprotected were Justin Edwards and Amphardy Simons. And it, you had the guts to do it. The reason why I went Simons, well, I should say the reason why I went Adembona over Amphardy Simons is I just feel like they have plenty of guards.

11:31They've got LeBaron Phylon in the pipeline. They've got Maxi, they've got Edgecom. They don't have very many bigs at all. So even though I don't love Adembona, they kind of need Adembona more than they need Amphardy Simons. And then I just don't think Justin Edwards is that good, so I'm not too worried about unprotecting him. Yeah, just the end of what's the same. I don't like Adembona. I really don't. Yeah. But who are these? It's like him and Ariel Huckporty. Those are the two backup centers right now. Yeah. I don't know that this is actually relevant. Nobody is sniffing Simons and or Bona in this draft. I don't think that either will be big. That's true. So to me, completely fine. I mean, I don't like the idea of protecting Simons. Adembona, but Bona is like not affecting me in any negative way. So. Wow. We are flying through the Eastern Conference. We told you on Monday, the Eastern Conference is way easier. And it is.

12:31Next up, the New York Knicks, 10 players eligible, Cat, OG, Brunson, McElbridge's, Josh Hart, Landry Shamit, Jose Alberado, McComade Daddy A, Mohammed Diawara, and Tyler Colec. This was another one. I thought it was pretty easy, McCalea. Same for you. I'm not sure if we have the same players. I mean, I immediately went to Daddy A as I'm interested. I don't like him too much. As a player? He's probably a great guy. Oh, sure. But he's French. So that counts as an interesting stuff for me. Anyway, I was trying to think between Colec and Mo Diawara. In the end, I went with Colec just because I value foreign New York specifically having some exo-ball and I don't like Alberado too much. I know that he was good, sometimes very good in the playoffs.

13:34And I mean, having exo-ball and there's even if he didn't play too much in the postseason or almost at all, he had moments in the cup where it was suddenly good. And I don't know. I like the upside a little bit more. If you went with the hour, I understand that and I'm totally fine with it. I did. Go Diawara. It's similar to reasons for going... That I just mentioned for the Sixers for going for Bona, which is that the next lost Mitchell Robinson, their big rotation is kind of thin. I did not realize that James Weisman and Drew U-Banks were also on the Knicks now. I think U-Banks happened this week. But I'm fine. If you want to keep Tyler Colec, you will... No? It's fine. I mean, it was a very close call. So I'm open to leave it that way. Although I actually think that Tyler Colec would have a better chance of getting drafted

14:35than Diawara. Yeah. It doesn't really change too much for the next. I think, again, my preference here is to have a little bit more upside. I think that you can find a big man if you really need to. So this is why I went slightly above for Colec. But again, it's splitting hairs here. Okay. Well, it is your team. So I'm going to protect Colec. We're going to unprotect Diawara. So Dada and Diawara. Which brings us to Brooklyn. 14 names. Oh, my God. This one is like... This actually reminded me a lot of the Thunder back in 2023. Now they don't have an SGA type player or even a giddy type player who has already proven themselves to that extent. But there's just a lot of names here. A lot of young guys with names that you know and you're completely unsure whether they're going to be good or not. And so they're 14 names.

15:37Julius Randall, Terence Mann, Deironshire, Movogner, Keon Ellis, McElbrown, Jr., Yeg or Domen, Noah Clowney, Josh Maynott, Nolan Treyori, Drake Pal, Ben Siroth, Joshua Jefferson and Danny Wolf. So you have to unprotect several of their young guys who many of whom are that they were just rookies. They have one year. They could be good. We don't know. But I decided to unprotect Terence Mann. That was an easy one for me. I have. Unprotected? Yeah. Okay. Ben Siroth, Josh Maynott. Yep. I went Movogner, Keon Ellis and Nolan Treyori. Now I could see the argument for Keon Ellis over someone like... I guess like Danny Wolf. I just, again, I'm airing on the side of who were their young players who showed the most. And I'm still a little bit intrigued by Danny Wolf and a little bit intrigued by Drake

16:42Pal. The ones that were obvious for me, obviously McElbrown, Jr., Yeg or Domen, Josh Jefferson, who they just drafted. Deironshire and Julius Randall for me. Noah Clowney was... It was basically Danny Wolf, Noah Clowney, Drake Pal, where my last three ads. Could you disagree with any of those? I protected Keon Ellis just because I think that we'd have good enough half of a season you can have value. I feel like we've been saying that about Keon Ellis for a half decade now. If someone will please just play him, he would have value. Now, but I think that the most important thing here is to realize that Randall, even if he's not in the plans, is someone that you need to protect. Same with Domen, I think that he has something to show. I mean, it's fine. Leave everything as it is. Mostly because I have seven players protected, not eight, because they'll, I don't know,

17:44the file, probably messed up the file, but I agree with everything. I don't have any strong opinion. Again, the key on that is I have a good player. Maybe he can showcase himself a little bit, and I can get a second round or two, but that can probably be through all the support guys like Drake Powell and stuff like that. Is that who you had him over? Was that the final decision? Yeah, but it's again. I'm going to stick with the young guy, the second-year player, just in case, even though I did cut Nolentree or a, for Treyori, it was just like, I mean, make Kelbrown Jr., that's who they, I'm assuming they're going to be putting a lot of their stock in. I mean, if I'm a net's fan, what I'm talking myself into right now is they do theoretically have a back quarter of the future with my Kelbrown Jr. and Yegor. And that's like something. Yeah, especially if Yegor shot this real like it was last year.

18:44Okay, so we're going to stop there with Brooklyn and move on to the final team, the Atlantic Division, only seven players eligible. Just gotty Barnes, Emmanuel Quickly, RJ Barrett, Yacke Perdle, Kyle Murray Boyles, Alan Graves, Jacobi Walter, maybe the most, the easiest decision of any team in the league. Yeah. Yeah, this is boldly like we'd out even blink about it. Can I say something about Toronto? Yeah, I mean, I can't wait to see how CMB plays next year. But isn't there like too much anticipation for him? Like I'm seeing stuff that are crazy, like that CMB, it will be like a top 25 player in the league next year. I'm not sure that I'm ready to go that way. Okay, well that's crazy. I think what people are excited about is that he looked so good in the playoffs as a

19:50rookie. Yeah. And specifically like showed more offensively than we were really expecting. And so he fits this team's like identity perfectly. And this is the idea of having a small ball unit with him, Scotty and Kauai. Yeah, that is crazy. That's like a massage dream from back in the day, just like this team of 6, 9, 4 words who are all versatile. So I think people are just excited about that and what that could look like. And it also helps distract them from the fact that Yacke Perdle is going to be on this team for the foreseeable future because he is not getting dressed. He is such a bad deal. He is one of the guys that I have what ifs for OKC. Because I was listening to the huge what if. Yeah, there's that low podcast. Anyway, they were talking about with Rob Maoni I think about OKC and they were saying the

20:54idea of Chetat the 5 alone is kind of gone. I'm not sure if that is true, even in high level games, because I mean last year in the finals, that was the unit that made a lot of OKC success. But I imagine him with an actual or not an actual but the big man that can rebound a little bit more to him and a little bit more size without being hard and fine and occupying a lot of the space that Chet can take advantage of. And TMB would have been perfect. Well, it's been Messiah or at least someone associated Messiah two years in a row now. Because two years ago it was sniping CMB right before our pick and then last year was or this year was Marej Johnson. Similar type players and I agree that that idea of Chetat the 5 does feel kind of dead. I mean, you can certainly go to it. It's still a look for them. But if you're going to develop any of these young centers, it's going to be the number

21:56of minutes available for that is going to shrink somewhat. Unless you can potentially play him with J.Will and J.Will can play the four and we'll see how much they decide to lean into that. They have to find ways to get J.Will on the floor. Yeah. Yeah, and they can do that and they can have maybe a few minutes without Hartman Stein by closing the first quarter and you enter J.Will and you play with these two big men that can space the floor and play maybe Hartman Stein a little bit more like the lone big man instead of playing all the time with Chetat with the second unit. But yeah, I mean, that was just. But yes, they starting line up of like Shay, AJ, Dub, Colomari Boyles and Chet. Sounds pretty cool. Sounds like it would have been pretty cool. It does. Okay, that brings us to the end of the Atlantic Division. Look at that. We're only 20 minutes in. We're flying. Okay, but we might be brought to a halt because it's the Bucks and they have a lot of young

23:01guys. 12 eligible names, Miles Turner, Gary Trent Jr. He's up there with Perdol for like quickest, I unprotected a player. How many seconds? Less than a second. I saw his name instantly moved him there. AJ Green, Braden Burries, Jaime Hockes, Oos, Nate A.M.E.T. Kaleh Ware, Ryan Rollins, Casper, Shaka Chonis, Pete Nance and Boglejub, Markovich. I did look into Boglejub just to see like, because I remember hearing his name two years ago, I guess now, whenever they drafted him, I guess those years ago. And I just wanted to catch up, see what people were thinking about him, quickly learned that, okay, it's okay if I unprotected him. People don't seem that interested in Boglejub. So 12 names need to unprotect four. I unprotected Boglejub, Pete Nance, Gary Trent Jr. and then sadly, loose. Oh, yeah.

24:01This was maybe a minute and a half for me. I googled, I will never say that name. I would love to look. Yeah, I would love to hear Luke trying to say this. It would be an amazing experience. Then I also went to Pete Nance just to refresh my eyes for him. But again, it's all the Miami guys because he just traded for them. Nate A.M.E.T. because he just drafted him, even if I don't like him too much, of course, Burries. And then, I mean, shooters and master. I don't think that there is too hard. I know. I thought it was going to be more difficult. And part of it is that Tyler Heroes' understrict free agent, so you don't have to think about him. Yeah. I guess that's really the only name. But I just thought there were like a ton of young guys on the team. You know, I was on the junior year? No, no, no. I wouldn't have thought too hard about that one.

25:01I do think Boglejub, if he had been drafted by the Thunder, he could have been our next Poku. I mean, his name contains Jub, which is what Jay accidentally called Jaydub that one time. So I really think we could have done a lot there with Boglejub because you could add Boglejub Dub lineups, which would have been very fun. And you know what? It could still happen. Maybe he flames out Milwaukee and he ends up in OKC. Don't never heard any rumors of them being interested in him, but you never know. So yeah, it looks like Ouse. Ouse is going to be unprotected and could get drafted. We'll see. Yeah. OK, next up. Cleveland. Oh, this was very easy as well. Ten players, Donovan Mitchell, Evan Mobley, James Harden, Jared Allen, Peyton Watson, Sam Merrill, Jalen Tyson, Tyree Sproctor, Clefajop and Malik Thomas. Oh. Seems unprotected too. Yes.

26:02So super duper easy decisions up until Jalen Tyson, I think. So Mitchell, Mobley Harden, Ellen Watson, Merrill and Tyson for me. And those were immediate. Yes. Then I immediately removed that East Proctor from the protected list because I don't like him. Then it was between Malik Thomas and Caliphate the Open. I went with Malik Thomas. Same. And again, there is at least an idea of late at Maywork. For Cleveland, I don't think that this is again very important. I'm not sure that any between Thomas, Proctor and Diop would have been picked here, but those two I have strong opinions that they will not get drafted. Yeah. And I think for a team like Cleveland, who's, you know, they're going to be capped out.

27:02They're looking just for any young guy at the end of the rotation to bring them something like Jalen Tyson did. Malik Thomas at least showed something in Somer League and got people excited. And that is enough for me when it comes to a team like the Cavs. They just need a little hint of maybe we got something special. So yes, that is what I did as well. Unprotected Entire Sproctor and Clefajop brings us to Chicago Bulls. Chicago Bulls have 11 eligible players. Josh Gidey, Nick Clackston, Norm Powell, Patrick Williams, Caleb Wilson. Okay, Patrick Williams up there with Gary Trent Jr. and Yacke Perdle. He'd probably third on the list of auto ad to the unprotected. Can I say something about this? Yeah. I initially focused my eyes on Caleb Wilson. And so I copied one, two, three, four, five immediately in the protected list. Oh, he went to all this. He snuck in. Yeah, yeah. And then I, after I realized, hold your Lord.

28:04I have to pack Williams. What am I doing? And that does sound like a bull's thing to do though. Like everyone would be preparing to hear like who was protected, who was unprotected. And then it's revealed that the bulls protected Patrick Williams. Yeah. Well, they're there. The guy that I put protected instead of him made me almost puke. So okay. So there's Caleb Wilson, Zach Collins, Trey Jones, Rob Dillingham, Modus, No S and Gay, and Dalyne Swain. So 11 names, you have to unprotect three. The obvious ones for me, Patrick Williams, Zach Collins, didn't have to think about those two guys. And Rob Dillingham. Yeah. Oh, that's not what I chose. I chose Nick Clackston. Okay. It did come down to Nick Clackston, Rob Dillingham for me. I don't think Nick Clackston is very good anymore, or at least he hasn't been. And I do not think he fits this team at all.

29:05He does not fit who you would want next to Caleb Wilson. And he's making like over 20 million, over 20 a million, over 20 million a year for the next two years. I was trying to entice someone to take that contract. But now that I look at it, I have given up on Rob Dillingham. I do think it's over with Rob Dillingham. Okay. Don't you want someone to draft him so that you don't have to play him? And couldn't you see someone similar to me just deciding to protect him, just being like sure. Last round of the expansion draft, sure. I'll take Rob Dillingham. Yeah, exactly. Okay. But I was the guy that made me almost puke his nose and I have zero faith that he will be anything worth discussing. He was so atrociously bad in some league that I had. Yeah. He's his whole draft cycle, frustrated me so much, because listen, I'm not a scout or

30:07anything. I felt more than any other player in that draft cycle. If you watch the highlights, you could quickly see like, there's just not a lot here. Like, all of his highlights are against the worst defense I've ever seen, where he's just kind of like walking to the rim and dunking the ball, but like not really showing a ton of skill. And he's getting comparisons to like, I think Oos is way more skilled than no S&G. I just, I did not get it at all with no S&G, but I did protect him. Yeah. Same. Funny team now. Fun? Fun. Indy. Indy's extremely fun. Oh, okay. They're talking about the bulls being fun. No, no. I mean, it'll be fun to watch Kale Bullsen. Kale Bullsen? Yes. And, and, and, and, and, and, and, and they're good pair together. Yeah. Okay. Indy. This was hard.

31:07Okay. Indy, we've got 13 eligible. Siakum, Halley, Zubats, Andrew Nemhard, Obi-Toppin, Nees Smith, TJ McConnell, Jaros Walker, Kelly Ubrei, tsunami poppy, Ben Shepherd, J Huff, Quentin Jackson, and Johnny Furfie. So, this is your team. You have to unprotect five players. Who are the obvious ones? These agree with me. Big time. Okay. Big, big time. I protected. Let's start with the obvious one. One, two, three, four. So Siakum, Halley, Zubats, Nemhard. Then I unprotected Obi-Toppin. I will discuss that. Okay. I protected Nees Smith. I protected TJ. I did not protect Walker. I protected Ubrei. What? I know. Hear me out. I did not protect him in this contract based, but I was very last moment flipping him or

32:09Ben Shepherd, him or Ben Shepherd, and I ended up him for reasons that probably you will go in the opposite direction. Okay. I did not protect Huff. I did not protect Jackson, and I protected Furfie. Okay. So, the names we disagreed on, I actually unprotected TJ McConnell. Okay. Which I could be talked out of that. It can be ducked into unprotected because I think that nobody will actually pick him. My thing with Ubrei is that I don't love this fit. This feels more like I know Ubrei. He was like a nice player for Philly of his last couple seasons, but it reminds me of when he went to Golden State. This team has like a very defined offensive system and he just looked so out of place in that system. And I just worry about how he's going to look in Indy. I'm just not convinced that he is a Pacer's player. And so I unprotected him.

33:10TJ McConnell, obviously he's very good. He terrorized us during the NBA finals. He's probably the player who's most scared of in Game 7 of an NBA finals. Truly terrified of TJ McConnell. He is getting older though. But I don't know. I did protect Obi-Tauppin, Jaros and Ben Shepherd. The last two just because they're young. I mean, I guess they do have Nemhard and Helburn. I'm just wondering with McConnell, he's 34 at the time of this draft. He would be 35. He is on a very reasonable deal. 11 million, 11.8, 11.8 team option in a couple seasons. He was a very key part of a team that made a finals run. Are we overlooking him too quickly? I don't know. I haven't protected him. And Furfie. Who'd you have? You had Furfie over OB?

35:15Yeah. And why? Because I think that Furfie with Ali can be a real problem in terms of shooting. I had very high grades in my mind for Furfie during the draft. I know that he did not pen out. But Carlisle is not quick with rookies and young players anyway. And I think that Ali can really unlock him in a big time. Nisbit was not the same player without Halleberton. So this is why shooters with potential are incredibly good weapons for Halleberton to have. And these team will need shooting. And so this is why I think that with Walker, I've seen enough to be not convinced that he can actually produce at a high level. With Furfie, I just don't want another team to find out that he's actually a 6-9 Steve Novak with a little bit more hops. Okay, but what about this? My pitch for keeping Furfie unprotected is that he did tear his ACL last February.

36:19He is going to be coming off an ACL injury. He might not even play this season. He's really going to get selected. I can tell you in the down to drunk, down to drunk, down to dunk draft. Jaros Walker is definitely getting drafted. We've talked about him too much. Yeah, but he's old terror, I think. But it's fine. Let's leave it this way. Okay. So we'll keep OB. Yeah. Trying to remember what OB's injury was. I don't remember. OB, top in injury. He's fine. He had right foot surgery last November for a stress fracture of the fifth metatarsal. That's a Jones fracture, right? But he returned. He's fine. Okay, he's ready to start the season. Okay, so we'll leave it like that. So Jaros Walker, Kelly Ubrei, J. Huff, Quint Jackson, and Johnny Furfie unprotected. But at least he had a discussion. And we'll remind the teams are drafting. The Johnny Furfie is coming off an ACL to try to dissuade them from taking it.

37:20How about that? Yeah. Okay. Last team in the Central Division, and then we will go to a break. The Detroit Pistons. Nine names. Okay, I'm remembering now that I actually had some questions. On this one. Cade Cunningham, John Collins, Duncan Robinson, Isaiah Joe, Sar Thompson, Kevin Herter, Ron Holland, Buka Okori, and Chas Linear. You only have to unprotect one. I think I went Kevin Herter. But I don't know if I should. Because Chas Linear, like, okay, Kevin Herter was not good for the Pistons. I would say he was bad. They decided to bring him back. He's certainly making less than he was. I think he was making like 17 million a year. He's making like nine million a year. My thing with Herter is that he is talked about as a shooter.

38:20He's never really been like an elite shooter. I think he shot over 40% one time. In Sacramento. Either in Sacramento or Atlanta. Yeah. But actually for it, or a team that does have aspirations this season of going deep, I still probably feel like Kevin Herter has a better chance of helping you than Chas Linear. So maybe I should switch those. Yeah, I had them switched. But also, is Chas Linear getting drafted? Probably not. This is what was solely for me. Who is going to get drafted? We've said that about every team. No, I think that in Atlanta, in sorry, in Indiana, someone will get drafted. Usman Jang is getting drafted. He might be the number one overall pick. No, it'll probably be, it'll probably, it could be a dimer. Legitimately as the number one overall pick.

39:21I was thinking about the Eastern Conference. Boston probably will have someone drafted. Yeah, yeah, one of those young guys. Okay, let's take a break. We just flew through. I think that news came out yesterday. Yeah. Okay, so you have to protect, unprotect three players from that list. A pretty nice group of players, I would say. Yeah. Yeah, I think that there's nobody who I'm really sorry that I'm protected. But at least I gave you the thought. Let's put it this way. Obvious one, Jalen Johnson, Dyson Daniels,

46:36a Kong Wu, Nikhil Alexander Walker, who's still my favorite player, an autumn thunder, I want. Okay, see you really. To get him. Yeah, he's one of them. Well, this has to be your second screen team this year. Yeah, well, I don't like little dork, so I'm not sure. I forgot, we have to balance that part of it. No, I'm kidding, but anyway, but you're not. Maybe second player is exaggerating, but guys that are getable, Nikhil is probably very high on this list for me. Do you feel like he's getable though on his contract? He was getable. Well, yeah, he was getable at a time. But now he's making like, I mean, I think he's making less than Ludoord. Yeah, he needs to deal last year. Yeah, you need to pay a lot. Something needs to dramatically bad for Atlanta, and he needs to be super duper high paid. But I think that he has prices this way. It's for Atlanta, maybe worth. But anyway, I protect Kispert, Wiggen's, Flemmings, and A4.

47:38I am protected, healed, Neural, and Vezar. Okay. So the only one I disagreed with you on was, I knew this. Kispert versus Asinul. Yeah, just for the young player reasoning. Sounds like you're willing to take that risk though. Yeah, I mean, it's fine. Kispert is like an okay guy that can shoot the basketball. That is always a thing for me, but I'm easily talking to Neural. Hold on, hold on. What if I'm looking at it now? Where's the shooting on this team? CJ is a good shooter. Nikhil was a good shooter. Wiggen's was questionable. Obviously, Dyson Daniels doesn't shoot. Dora is questionable. Maybe they need Kispert. I think that shooting in this team is important. I think that Flemmings has the potential to be one.

48:42We'll see. I think that having, I don't think that Kispert is going to be picked. But also like a team, like he's a guy that can be picked. I don't know. I think he is going to be picked. Yeah. Now, especially now that Vsar, I think he's towards ACL or something. Because you could sell yourself on like, oh, I just take the guy who's just drafted. But like Kispert is just a rotation NBA player. And you know that he has an NBA skill. Friendly contract. And he's okay. He's got a nose out to play. I scouted him at Gonzaga for years. And he rarely does. Here, it makes me stakes and offends. So maybe this is a little bit biased of me. But again, I watched probably all the college games of Kispert. Okay, so we're going to, this is your decision. I don't want to force you into it. But do you want to leave it as Corey Kispert protected? Asonuel unprotected? Let's go.

49:42Okay. I think Asonuel could be an early round draftee. Just because he's young. We got four teams left. Next up is the Miami Heat. I actually did some research on this one. Yeah, it is disgusting. Yannis, BAM. So nine names. Yannis, BAM, Andrew Wiggins, Yovitch, Portis, Clay, Drew Smith, Myron Gardiner, Ryan Conwell. You only have to protect one or unprotected one player. And for me, that was Drew Smith. Yay! Honestly, just came down to shooting. Ryan Conwell seems like he's going to be able, or at least he's going to be very willing to shoot. Drew Smith, I think, I know he has had okay shooting seasons on very low volume in the past, but I think last year he shot under 30%. Yeah, and it's the very low volume because it needs you. Yeah, and on this team, when you have Yannis and we'll see what happens with BAM's three point shooting going forward. But with Yannis, you just need shooters. I'm going to prioritize the shooters.

50:44Yeah, completely agree here. I exactly looked for that for the player who can give me more shooting between the one that are in the bubble, split it this way. With BAM, I think that he will have to shoot the basketball any will. We'll see how it works. I think that the decision for a defense is quite easy. Let him open and then live and die by his three point shooting. Yeah, more shooting for this team for sure. Why is this so easy? I think we were on team five by this point one day. Yeah, because we have the okay seat to discuss. There are teams like, again, probably also because we have higher, let's say, more farmed opinion on many of the fringe guys of the East and Conference team for the West and Conference team because we watched more. I think that the Washington has a lot of players.

51:44And here at least I actually think we're on something. Washington or Lando Charlotte, those are how we're going to close. They're all kind of interesting. So let's start with Washington. Weird team. 13 players. So you must unprotect five. Anthony Davis, Tray Young, AJ DeBonza, Alex Sarr, Bloc, Coulballee, Tray Johnson, Tray Man. Chris Middleton, Bob Carrington, Will Riley, Kishan George, Tristan Wootzevich, Wootzevich, Justin Sham Penny. Okay, so some easy names like Anthony Davis, because he, well, that is probably not the good way to start. AJ DeBonza, very easy name, Alex Sarr, Bloc, Tray Johnson, all these four, very easy. I would add also Kishan George. And very easy player to protect. I mean, we have seen enough from Bob Carrington to see that he's not good enough.

52:47But that's how I feel as well. But I still protected him. Yeah, I know. I know. I protect Anthony Davis. And here I am at seven players. And I did not absolutely did not protect Tray Young. Okay, here's my thing though. Why I did end up protecting Tray Young. If you are still under a league, that may be. But if you don't protect Tray Young, like, who, what is this team doing offensively? I don't care. You should care. No, if the whole read, I know that they overpaid for Tray Young. But he is very important for this team, just being functional. I don't think they're going to be functional if they don't have Tray Young. The way I see it is that I don't care. But why, why do you not care? They've been terrible. But what is it? Four seasons? They're being too far away.

53:47They're being too far away. Terrible anyway. Borderline terrible. That sounds like an improvement. Sure. And you're just going to throw that away? Yes. I would much rather try to see if there is any possible trade. For Anthony Davis that net me, for example, with Atlanta, just give me back filler and a point guard that is young. And I'm good. And I will go on without young. If someone picks him up. Okay. Sell me on taking, on protecting Bob Carrington over Will Riley. Like, isn't there still a chance? Will Riley has something? I'm... We can discuss this. It's fine. Okay. So you're... You will... You will have to... Yes. This I'm willing to do. And also, if you look at the value of course,

Trayon gets drafted just because he's a player you recognize. It gives you some floor. But in a real expansion draft, I would be interested to see would a team really bulk at bringing on Trayon

57:50knowing that he does give you that floor? And we've seen with expansion teams, like, if you're not good for a couple seasons, it can be devastating. Like, what happened to the Vancouver Grizzlies? And as Trayon, at least give you just like a baseline level of competence that allows you to like, weather the early years of being an expansion team. Okay, let's protect him. Fine. I know that it makes sense. I just hate that contract. Who would you have switched him out for? Champeni? Yeah, I had Champeni and Baukare and Trayon and you have Wheel Riley and Trayon. Okay, well do you want Champeni over Wheel Riley? No. It was my last call just because I wanted badly to not protect Trayon. You don't want to protect it? It's your call. Fine. It's fine. You convince me. No, I don't think I can do it. I was just doing... I was just being like a little bit too money aware. And you're right. I mean an expansion team needs a guy like that. And probably Washington is fine to have

58:53this for a couple of years. It's not that their salary capital will be messy or anything. It's just the waste of resources and cup space to me. There are teams that will only like a jail free out card. I don't know what I said, but you get what I wanted to say. And if you occupy your space with Trayon, you cannot do anything basically. So to me it's just a mouth practice. I... But they did that. I don't even disagree with any of that. I think that if I had any faith in Bub Carrington being a lead guard, I would be more willing to Jettison Trayon. But I just look at the guards on this team. Like I don't think Tray Johnson is going to be a lead guard. And then I'm done. I've reached the end of the line. And so I guess they could get that lead guard somewhere else. And it's true that if you could tell me how this would play out, I'd be more willing to unprotect Trayon. But right now, I actually think Trayon is hugely important for the development of all of these guys

59:55above him to figure out what they are. So because I don't really know yet. Suppose that I can concentrate with Kingston Flamings and Onyekau Kangu for Anthony Davis and for Swampik. I think we're about to try to trade Tray back to Atlanta. No, no, no, 80. Yeah, yeah, I mean, obviously, if I were the Wizards, I would do that in a second. You can give assets to Atlanta to make it work. I mean, Atlanta probably would, I mean, the probably is that 80s never healthy. So if I remember healthy and also they, Atlanta could have made a big move. These last couple cycles, whether it was like the deadline or during the summer. And it does feel like they're slow playing a little bit. They're like building this team that is really deep and is one of those teams where you can just drop a star into it and it will potentially all work.

1:01:02I don't know who that future star is going to be, but I feel like that's what they're setting up for and I don't think that player is Anthony Davis. Yeah, no, and it's probably not fliming the guy that you want to park ways with. But your general idea of like, yes, if there was a, if there was a young lead guard on this team that I believed in and liked, I would be more willing to get rid of track. Okay. On to the Orlando Magic. Nine names eligible, Franz, Paulo, Desmond Bain, Sugs, Winelcarta, Jr. Anthony Black, Tristan De Silva, J. Richardson, Noah Penda. Those first seven easy, it comes down to J. Richardson or Noah Penda. I actually did my deepest dive on this one. Okay. And I did go back and forth because the case for J. Richardson is, you know, on the one hand, he kind of goes against what the magic have traditionally looked for in players because he doesn't have the size and length that they typically are drafting.

1:02:09But he does offer something with his potential shooting that they desperately need on this team beyond Desmond Bain. So that is the case for J. Richardson. The case for Noah Penda is that what's the chance that J. Richardson is actually going to get playing time anytime soon, whereas Noah Penda, he's probably going to be the backup to Paulo this season. And if he actually has a shot, a three point shot, which he did show a little bit in Summer League, obviously, Super Small Sample. But if he can shoot it all, he's like an obvious NBA rotation player because of his size and because of his versatility. So in terms of overall value, I ended up going with Penda and unprotecting J. But it sounds like you did the opposite. Yeah, I did the opposite mainly because I think that the team like O'Lennon needs shooting desperately. And if J. is not playing on a team that has a lot of defensive potential

1:03:13and needs like a frisk ball handler that can gun a little bit, that I don't know. So to me, yeah, it's fine. I flip flop the two for like 20 minutes and then decided to go with my guts and get the shooters, which is exactly what I did for any decision that I had to make. A little bit boring, but this is again, at least having an idea. And to me, it's okay. I mean, it's not that it's not that I hate the decision I see what you're saying. But again, to me, shooting for Orlando and offense for Orlando should be a priority these off season. And obviously, if if J. is 6-3, oh yeah, I think this is like an obvious decision. But because he's so small, that's where like, yes, he does potentially bring this skill that they desperately need. But the number of guys, his size, who have survived in the NBA, and not just

1:04:19his height, but he's just like, he's small, he's a really small guy. And having that point of weakness in a team that is built around their defense, like always having someone to attack, which is kind of what they've avoided up until now. That's ultimately why I went Penda over Richardson, but I like you went back and forth on them. I originally had Jace and then switched Penda. Okay, so I'm going to leave it like that. So we're going to unprotect Jace Richards. He'll probably get drafted. That brings us to our final team in the East, which is a pretty good one, a good one to end on. Now, this team probably even closer to 23.00KC, where they do have just a some really good young guys, like Conk and Nippel, Brandon Miller, and then a bunch of names of recently drafted players and trying to figure out who do I stick with, who do I give up on already. So 14 names, Kobe White, Naz Reed. Will we see it happen again? No, it's boy now. Grayson Allen, Brandon Miller,

1:05:23Dennis Schroeder, Dorian Finney Smith, Royce O'Neill, Conk and Nippel, to John Saloon, Honest Steinbach, Christian Anderson, Liam McNeely, Cian James, and Ryan Calc Brenner. So you have to unprotect six names from this list. So what were the easy ones? This is hate-based, I think, okay. I feel like that's been how you've made a lot of your decisions today. You've mentioned that multiple times. I hate this player. No, I'm so very easy. Tee-chan Saloon to me was one second, probably even less than that. Yeah. Then Cian James, quite quick. Really? DFS, very quick. Yeah, DFS is auto. Royce O'Neill, I gave him the thought, nobody will draft him. So I just removed him quickly. Dennis Schroeder, also, quite quick. In my hand, if you wanted to draft him, fine.

1:06:29And then I noted Allen is a very good shooter. But I hate him. So he's my last name. Also, unlike some other teams we've talked about, this team actually does have shooting. Yeah. Like they don't need Grayson Allen as much as some other teams would have needed him. So I also have very good reason for deprotected guys, more so than the guys that I left unprotected. So could we write to me? Yes. I mean, he is a guy that has still potential, I think. And it's the first time that he will have a lot of on-wall reps. And I want to see how it goes. Nazrid, perfect for this team. That's your safe. Yeah. Bermiller, comfortable. Yes. The two rookies for this year, I think that probably I like Chris Anderson more than Hannes Tybuck. Tybuck, but I like the idea that Tybuck can be a remounting machine. And then, Cald Brenner, I've seen enough to see that this is a valuable player on a

1:07:31possibly interesting deal. I want to give McNeely another chance. He's a guy that I know that if you unprotected him, it's completely fine. He didn't show half of what he should have. And when you do that, it's very, very hard to get back and to actually blossom late in your career. But I'm willing to give you another year. Okay. I think we were very close. The only... Oh, I didn't do Cald Brenner. Wait, why are they... Why am I protecting Cald Brenner? Just because I feel like he's a backup pig. I mean, he's perfectly fine. But I just thought they needed more perimeter defense with Cion James. Wait, so who is that... Was that our only difference is Cald Brenner versus Cion James? Yeah. All right. I'm willing... Yeah. If you don't do Cald Brenner,

1:08:33that's fine. Those two... I mean, they're not interchangeable. They're wildly different from each other. But it's basically just having a defensive-minded center versus a perimeter defender. I did... I was with you that Lee McNeely ended up being a pretty easy answer for me. And it was because I was listening to some preview pod about the Hornets. I probably hear Crazy Nallen gets drafted, which is completely fine for me. Because in the end, he is a hothead, but also a guy that can shoot. And if he's in the right state of mind for 10 days, it can be a very impactful player.

Yeah, but at least this is a team where you see six players, the rotation NBA players, maybe not for good teams, but I think that if you have Royson, Ili, no KC, he gets burned. I mean, not sure how much, but he plays. So Charlotte has a good collection of talent and I don't know how this will work without Lamello, but this is not a bad team. I wonder about the organization

And then Kobe White is going to pick up a lot of the slack from Lamello. If someone like Christian Anderson gets a lot of Bernie's going to shoot like all every guy on this team shoots, Brandon Miller, Conkiniple, Nas Reed, they could they really could because I think Boston has the current record in terms of three point attempts per game. It might have even been last year, but I think this Hornets team could be like really bizarre. Yeah, it could regularly be over like 53 point attempts per game. Yeah, to play variance and get value where maybe over the actual
