About this episode
“This is Hidden Killers with Telly Brusky. If you're just catching up with the death of a pastor's wife watching it on Netflix and learning about the JP Miller and Mike Miller story for the first time, well, welcome.”From the transcript
The ruling on Mica Miller’s death is suicide. The federal government’s position on her husband is cyberstalker. Between those two facts is a gap that hasn’t been closed.
Mica left her apartment on April 27, 2024, dressed for work, packed sandwich in the car. The night before, she’d signed separation papers from Solid Rock Church pastor JP Miller. By three o’clock, she was dead at Lumber River State Park in North Carolina.
JP admits he sent her four emails that morning — through a cover letter that told him not to contact her. Their content has never been released. Her body was found a hundred feet from the gun. No traditional autopsy was performed. Fourteen police contacts in ten weeks couldn’t get between them.
JP Miller’s federal trial on cyberstalking and false statements begins in October. The question the sandwich asks hasn’t been answered.

This is Hidden Killers with Telly Brusky. If you're just catching up with the death of a pastor's wife watching it on Netflix and learning about the JP Miller and Mike Miller story for the first time, well, welcome. We've been following this case now for a few years and I'll be more than happy to get you caught up. If you're also going, yeah, you know, it's just a lot that doesn't add up here. You're right. A lot does not add up here. Some things in this case, I will say might be simpler than more conspiratorial thinking, but there's a lot that doesn't add up here. And before we get into this, JP Miller has always maintained his innocence. He's never been charged with the murder of Mike Miller and we're not accusing him of it. I want to be clear on that, but yeah, there's just a lot. It's a lot of weird behavior and a lot of things and we're going to lay it all out here
and just let it simmer, let you decide what you think might be going on with this case. Mike Miller left her apartment on April 27th, a 24 dressed for work. She had packed a sandwich in her car packed a sandwich in her car ready to go for the day. The day before she'd signed separation papers from her husband, pastor JP Miller of solid rock church and my little beach and talked her divorce attorney attorney about starting over her attorney Regina Ward says, Micah was on top of the world and 100% ready. 90 minutes after leaving her apartment for the second time that morning, Micah walked into Dicks pawn shop and my little beach and bought a six hour nine millimeter handgun. She'd never owned one. She never fired one two and a half hours after that, Robinson County authorities say she used it on herself at lumber river State Park in North Carolina. The ruling was asked the the sandwich, by the way, still in the car.
How much she made for the day still in the car somehow out of nowhere time to go get the gun and end it. JP Miller was not at the park. His vehicle was confirmed in Highway 17 in Horry County, South Carolina at 222 that afternoon 32 minutes before the 911 call. He's not charged with causing Micah's death. He's charged with cybersawking her for 18 months before it. I wonder what might have led Micah to do this. What follows is every fact that makes the official story harder to accept harder to accept does not mean wrong. It doesn't mean it's it's it's a lie or not the truth. It just it just means there are some difficult pieces here and they deserve further examination.
Micah's body was found in the lumber river roughly a hundred feet from the gun. Two spent casings are recovered at the scene along with one live round. No traditional autopsy was performed because why would you want to do that? The North Carolina Medical Examiner produced a report with a diagram, but not a full examination. Micah's father says there were scratches on her body and a bullet hole in a nearby tree. Every one of those details has an official explanation. A crime scene investigator who reviewed the case says the river explains the distance, water moving, and four miles per hour. Can carry a body in seconds? It can. The the extra casing, he says, was likely a test shot. The Emmy stated the wound was not in the back of the head as had been speculated. Stack them together. Body a hundred feet from the gun on the explain casing. No full autopsy of father who says the injuries don't match and the question isn't whether each explanation holds alone. It's whether they all hold it once.
A man named Johnny Jacobs was fishing at the park that afternoon. He told investigators. He heard faint crying off in the distance and then a gunshot. Three voters nearby heard the shot. None of them heard the crying. Jacobs found Micah's belongings, her Fanny pack, phone glasses, and a small Bible about twenty yards into the woods, two feet from the water. After the case when public Jacobs came under severe social media harassment, he told people he'd accidentally burned $1,300 in cash, mistaking it for trash. I'm March 14th, 25, 10 months later, a driver from Chester, Virginia blew through a stop sign at 55 miles per hour and hit Jacobs truck two miles from his home. Jacobs died. The other driver was charged with Mr. Meter death by vehicle. The collision report documents clear weather in unobstructed intersection and a driver
who ran the sign. The conspiracy theories about Jacobs death are wrong. The report, the charges and the circumstances point to what they say it was, a traffic fatality. But it is a little weird. I know. It is. It, yeah, but because it feels off, doesn't mean it is off. But the contradictions in his account of Micah's last moments haven't been resolved. He heard crying. Three other people at the same park didn't. I mean, people hear different things. You're in the woods. You're not necessarily expecting to hear crying. There is nature. There are sounds around you may not. It's not necessarily a crazy thing. Micah Miller's death didn't come from nowhere. The system had been watching her get destroyed for weeks between February 7th and April 15th of 24 10 weeks. Law enforcement made 14 documented contacts related to Micah and JP Miller on February 8th
JP had Micah involuntarily committed to a hospital. Her siblings say that while she was inside, he took her vehicle, her phone and her laptop. On February 15th, Micah called 911 until the dispatcher JP, it put her hands around her throat. On March 11th, someone put a razor blade in her tire. A tracking device has found in her vehicle. She told police JP had followed her to the magistrate's office during that same period. Solid rock church filed a $1,200 theft report against Micah, accusing her of taking donations meant for a mission in Kenya. The case was closed. It's disgusting how solid rock church and JP suddenly starts saying she's crazy and she's stealing at the same time and then she's dead. Her journal which surfaced in an Netflix documentary reads, I have been abused in every way. South Carolina law at the time couldn't give her any emergency restraining order without proof that physical harm was imminent.
Fourteen police contacts in 10 weeks of the law couldn't get between them. We need more proof. Those 14 calls aren't enough. The federal indictment came 19 months after her death. It charges JP Miller, John Paul Miller with installing tracking devices on her vehicle, posting intimate images of her online without her consent, contacting her more than 50 times in a single day and lying to the FBI about damaging her tires. The man who signed the S ruling is the same man who asked the FBI to come in on May 6th, 24 one day before sheriff, Bernice Witt, Wilkins told the public a tragic decision was made. He formally requested federal involvement. He said it concerned allegations, not directly related to the actual cause of death, but related to the broader circumstances surrounding Mike is death. The sheriff who closed the case opened the next one. The FBI searched JP someone November 1st of 24.
The indictment came 13 months after that on Friday, April 26, JP Miller was served with the separation papers that evening. Mike had called Regina Ward, attorney. Ward says she was making plans talking about her future, her new life. Before that Friday, Mike, I had told a friend what she was afraid of. Her friend, Bruno Paybon, told the Netflix documentary, Death of a pastor's wife, what Mike has said in her living room. He's going to put a bullet in my head and tell everybody I killed myself. Here's what happened the next morning. Michael after apartment it, 1013 came back at 11 left again at 1138 by 1212. She was walking into a pawn shop by 1213. She'd purchased a gun she'd never held. She left at 1234 about a drink at a gas station at 127 at 254. She called 911 from lumber river State Park and told the dispatcher she intended to end herself. Said she wanted her family to find her body.
JP Miller admitted he sent Mike of four emails that morning, the morning after being served. Her attorney's cover letter told him not to contact her. The contents of those four email, those four emails have not been made public yet. The official story asked you to hold all of that at the same time. A woman who told a friend she was afraid of her husband would shoot her and call it an ass, a woman planning her future on a Friday evening with her attorney looking forward to the next day, making a sandwich for the day, somehow ending up dead with a bullet in her head. Just the day before telling her friend, I might end up dead with a bullet in my head and he's going to say it was, it was me. Go incidents dressed for work on Saturday with her lunch packed, buying a gun by noon, dead by three. The 911 call is documented. The surveillance backs it up every time, staff and the four emails from a man, the federal government would later indict for stalking her. Those haven't been explained. What happened between Friday night and Saturday morning has never been publicly answered.
The circle keeps getting wider. In February 25, a woman identified as Jane Doe filed a lawsuit against JP Miller. A alleging JP Miller assaulted her at Cathedral Church in 1998. She was 15. A lawsuit also alleges he assaulted her again in 2023. Her attorneys include Mark Tinsley, the lawyer who helped expose Alec Murdoff's crimes. JP Miller says he has never met her. In March of 25, a second woman filed suit Jane Doe number two alleges JP assaulted her at the age of 14 while he taught it as father Wayne Miller's Christian school Cathedral Hall Academy. The lawsuit calls the school a haunting area. It alleges Wayne Miller punished her for speaking up. Forced her to write 5,000 lines, I will not lie about John Paul Miller. Both lawsuits are active. The allegations are unproven. JP Miller denies them. Chris Skitter was a quadriplegic motivational speaker and the first husband of JP Miller's
now current wife, Susie. In September of 21, Skitter was found in his wheelchair at the bottom of a community pool. His death was also ruled in accidental drowning. His sister says JP Miller was called to the scene before the family was even notified. In early 25, the Murdoff Beach Police Department reopened the investigation, citing new information emerging from the investigation into Mike Miller's death. Two months later, police closed it again. The Horry County Corners investigation. That one remains open. JP delivered the message at Chris Skitter's funeral. He married Susie on June 1, 2025. This is some McAvelli and shit going on here with JP Miller. Keeping his enemies very close. So close that he can deliver the messages at their funerals. So close he can he can actually perform the wedding ceremonies of both Mike Miller to her previous husband before JP and Susie to the quadriplegic who drowned under mysterious
circumstances. He officiated both weddings too. Oh, how creepily coincidental. JP delivered the message at Chris Skitter's funeral. Then he married Susie on June 1, 25. Let me put him in the ground and take you to Applebee's for some Buffalo Wild Wings baby. You know how we roll here? You got JP Regina Ward says more people have contacted her office. She says she's recorded calls with JP that haven't been released calls that relate to ongoing investigations. Mike and Miller packed her lunch. She put on a work close. She talked to her attorney about starting over. The official story says she ended her life the next morning. The federal government says the man she was leaving had been stalking her for a year. A year and a half to women say he assaulted them when they were teenagers and then adults. One of them. A man connected to his world is dead in a pool and that investigation has been reopened
and closed again. JP Miller's federal trial starts in October. We'll be there with popcorn. Nobody has answered the question. The sandwich asks. You don't make a sandwich without the intent of eating it. You don't. You don't go. I'm going to end it later today. We make a sandwich and put it in the car. Leave it there. The sandwich says a lot. Your thoughts in the comments section on substacking YouTube. There's a lot to come on this story. We're going to keep covering it in great, great detail. By the way, the world of JP Miller falling apart right now. Lots of people. The walls are crumbling.
