Welcome to the podcast guys. We have to talk about meta muse if you're if you listen to my podcast AI chat that I post every day You're probably sick of this topic because I've been talking about it every day for the last like four or five days now A Connor recently made a post about this on LinkedIn and he was telling me in the comments He was getting crushed He was saying that meta is good and that is not the right opinion to have on LinkedIn apparently So I got to kick this over to you Connor. Tell me about what you're using muse for what you're seeing for people Just tuning in for the first time or maybe hearing about muse for the first time maybe they're you know They use chat chbt here. They use clawed or they got it at work like what what is muse? What's it useful for and yeah? How could they apply this in their in their career? Yeah, okay, so real fast meta has come out with muse Muse is essentially like open cloth for normal people and it is this new world of Personal assistance and the idea and the way that differs from cloth open AI everything else is that it's you can kind of talk to Just on a messaging app. So you know with something like open cloth the whole thing is that it just sort of like runs on a
Server and it just is doing things for you You don't have to have a cloud open you don't have to be at your laptop all that sort of stuff It's just it works on a little server. Well, that's why the Mac mini craze happened essentially right meta is sort of the same thing right which is It has its own like messenger app. It's separate all that kind of stuff And it has blown up all like so I don't know if you've sort of seen this in the news But essentially, you know, it's like the number one or number two thing up on the app store It's it's outpacing early days of chat GBT And so I'm like let me just try this out So because I already built out open claw. I already sort of like which is you've changed it as you know You can't get it breaking yeah, like I said I don't use it that much. I use it I thought I'd use it for both. I have an open-cloth agent for working for personal I use the person I want a good amount. I don't really use the work one because I'd rather just be at my laptop working But jaden you have sort of like been like Shilling for meta right like because you used to be like no way on meta And now this and you've sort of like been turning the corner and I wasn't really there with you
But I made the mistake jaden of coming over to this side and I got crushed I'm just pulling up my my laptop because I just had to read this Tweet I was just sort of sending this to a friend of mine because people were like I was like I'm getting crushed Like what do you think I was basically saying like news is really good? So before I even say like what it does Some of the things this was from like the former CHRO at LinkedIn or LinkedIn's first CHRO I won't name names here, but he's like Connor I'm so disappointed to see you give this company any recognition when they repeatedly and clearly are morally bankrupt organization That uses customer recklessly but what the worst like all the guys that right somebody else. This is my favorite jaden I won't name the name. He literally just says Jesus So sorry, imagine giving meta access to your email serious question How do you trust them after Cambridge Analytica and the harm done to our teenagers are cool products worth sacrificing any sense of morality? If you stand for nothing, what will you fall for right so This is the world we've wandered into I really like you but let me hand it up to you because like I've taken up too much
Air time here. Why don't you start saying what you like about it? Then I'll go about what I like so the first thing I got to the first thing I got to say when it comes to all of this is The the stock price of meta is up 40% in the last month on this So evidently you know that you know when people are like is this hype or like where are we at? It would appear Wall Street is taking this very seriously And I can completely understand why you see I think for the first time ever And it's interesting to me because I wonder if like meta how well they timed all of this all of this like you know This launch apparently from Alexander who runs AI over at meta He said that they've been working on muse for like many months and it's interesting because at the same time We have open AI and anthropic saying hey We got to pace the frontier and kind of slow down development this stuff's getting too powerful and ever I think they kind of left a bad taste in a lot of people's mouths by like saying we're gonna end the world with AI But it doesn't feel like this kind of feels like rhetoric because it feels like their actions are very different for example
Andthropic is like the world is gonna possibly end with AI due to the fact that you know like AI could make you know drugs that kill us all or could or could leak pathogens into the world or you know They come up to these doomsday AI scenarios and at the same time They're like and by the way we're opening a wet lab in San Francisco run by Claude and you're like okay Like if you truly believed this why would you be doing that? So a lot of people blame them on the red and then they say slowed all down and then outcomes meta And they're like here's just a genuinely useful tool that we had ready for a couple months But we just wanted to make sure that it was super safe and super good like I don't really know what the red team mean or their safety Pro calls are but they come up with this tool and yeah, it's amazing like you mentioned It's basically open claw if you look under the hood on what this thing actually is It's like the the specs the bitch giving you a virtual machine that all of this stuff runs inside of it's it's really impressive I mean they're probably spending about $60 a month per user that's using meta And it's completely free and if you know meta like they they're bread and butter is you know Facebook's 100% free and they make money off of the ads for this particular case
It's interesting in their meta connect yesterday They were talking about it and they're like how are you guys gonna make money from this evidently I'm sure like it's got a lot of data So they're gonna be able to serve better ads But what they were saying is they'll probably keep this thing as a free product and then they're doing integrations with Shopify and eBay and PayPal and like all of the Payment companies and he said we'll just take a commission off of payment like a payment processing fee We'll just charge a two percent processing fee when you buy something with muse or with but yeah with muse That's probably where we're gonna make the money and so you can imagine similar to what Chad should be teased doing with ads baked in like there's probably all sorts of ways that they can monetize this thing It'll be interesting to see but as far as a tool goes like how useful is this the financials look like it's doing good It is an incredibly useful tool for many reasons I have been annoyed and I've heard this kind of a noise from a lot of people with sometimes open AI But especially I feel like anthropic well ask it to do something for me And I feel like I have to like explain myself to it I'm like hey, can you make this document for me? And it's like well technically you shouldn't be making that document because
Do you really have like authority over the data in this folder on your computer? And blah blah I'm like I'm like please clawed like just make it for me. Yeah, yeah Just make this thing for me. I need to get this project done anyways I go to so this happened to me this week I went to muse ask it the exact same question It's like yep, here's your document but a being the boom and I just move on with my life. So here's everybody else's stuff too Here we're just gonna. Yeah, I mean minor details minor details But yeah, so I mean, I guess that's probably the the pushback on it is there's like a meme out there where it's like if you ask Meta to do something to be like sure paste your API keys in the chat and I'll get it done for you And if you ask clad it's like what and there no circumstance do not paste your API like paste my API keys in anyways And it's like I'm pretending I didn't see that go ahead and rotate your keys right now This is bad. I'm like come on clad just do the job. I'll rotate them as soon as your dime is gonna save as like five minutes And he's setting up a secure environment. It's like no Anyway, so clad's brain is melting music music gets the job done. That's amazing. So okay, so listen like I'm having the same experience Okay, so if if you are you know shouting at your wherever you get your podcasts right now saying like I can't believe these guys are like onboard with meta guy
We know okay like I mean jaden has young kids. I have teenagers. We're not blind to this We are doing is reviewing products. I'm not if you guys you know if you don't want to use an Elon product or you don't want to use those Zuckerberg product I totally totally get it I'm just sort of like talking to folks who like might want to try it out or sometimes that if you want to wait by the way Jaden when I said in my post to I'm like apple where were you this was here for you? Why not apple? My god, it drives me crazy, but for right now it's news. I don't mind guys. I have a very high risk tolerance So everybody needs to know that But a couple of things on that like so number one is The way that it works is just really smart and this is not you know sort of like it doesn't have to be exclusive to me Jaden the way it learned about me and the in the way that like way open call learned about me was like tell me all about yourself You know do you have anything else you want to tell me all that kind of stuff? I don't know Kids and Mary bubble like right so this is what mused muses like hey you're gonna give me access to your email any way I assume or whatever I'm like yeah, that's because this is what you do to give it access email It's like let me just read your emails it read my emails. I'm like okay Got it. I now understand things about you the other things it was just proactive
It'd be like waking up and sort of instead of being like hey you want to work on them It's just like hey like you have that thing for Finns college essay don't forget you'll need to get that in by five o'clock Like legitimately useful stuff not ten things that you want to do not sort of like hey Do you want to make a recipe for chicken tonight? It's like hey? This is like coming up right now Do you want it you need to deal with this like and like do you want me like draft this up for you all that kind of stuff? It's just it's incredible right and like more and more I'm realizing that the more that these AI companies can sort of say like how they are on your side Like I just got cloud code to literally go through everything because Hertz was trying to charge me for like a ding on the car Which I'm like come on and Hertz? I mean cloud got it like a negotiated with Hertz until it was at zero It went from $2,000 to zero 72 hours they negotiated Hertz down to zero, right like that's crazy and this is the thing about muses It's just like there. It's super easy. It's super user friendly Can people say like what about data? Yeah, and then what about Jaden on the point about partnerships and all that stuff? Amazon has blocked muse already because mute yeah, so you're taking off
So I guess that this is just the sort of like thing when you think about this Are you using muse? Are you waiting for something else better to come along? Are you gonna use instinct? Which is another competitor? Are you using? How do you even think about this because then we're getting into it like Wearables and tomogadges on the ice Yeah, okay, so number one I feel bad for instinct because I feel like they had a really good product and this stolder thunder It's cheaper free a lot of people say better and so I mean It's just basically impossible to compete with meadows, you know losing $60 a month on the hardware for this I found the I found the rundown of what actually powers muse So their virtual machine you get two VCP use which is a slice of 126 core AMD EPYC you get eight gigs of RAM 100 gigs of persistent disc and a Ubuntu 24.04 so I think right there the eight gigs of RAM and 100 gigs of percent persistent disc This is not something that every startup can just hand out to every user for free This is something that Meda can because meta has like just massive data centers meta has massive massive access to compute because they have
Tools that are used by billions of people around the world and so I think this is kind of a Place for someone like instinct might get a little bit crushed as and then as far as like the user experience goes I'm just finding it to be a lot better obviously they have bigger budgets. They just make this this thing works great The you mentioned the tomogadge I think this is hilarious and I think this is honestly a big It feels like a big moment where apple is losing momentum Just I agree this we've been kind of saying like hey apple You know you should probably get your AI step together and then they have apple intelligence and then the lawsuits come out because and they got to pay $250 million because we're even able to ship it on time and so apple just gets Thing after thing after thing and it's like okay. It's fine but apple owns hardware You know, maybe they're just you maybe they're gonna be the winners because they're selling the MacBook mini's to the open-cloth people Maybe they're gonna be the winners because people buy iPhones and they use the chat GPT app on there Okay, well hardware is coming out and it seems like meta is the company the least the one I would have least expected This coming out with all the sexy new AI hardware they have the meta ray bands and everyone's like well
They're gonna get branded because the you know is like a bad thing because they got cameras on them So they have some headwinds there. Okay. Well yesterday it connected conference They just released the new red meta ray bands with meta AI built-in so you can talk to it and there's no cameras So if you don't like the cameras that's fine. They got rid of the cameras It's still a useful thing because it's you know a like basically like an air pod But you don't have to wear an air pod you can talk to it and it will tell you stuff And then they come out with this new keychain that goes on your keychain It has a fingerprint scanner so that you know someone else can't steal it and get your data or whatever But you basically just push it and you talk to it and it has a screen on it a two inch by two inch screen So it's kind of like imagine like an apple watch face and I honestly I think this is incredible I think this is like they're coming out with interesting hardware things whether you want it or not They're taking shots. They're making real hardware and evidently you can't just say well meta is gonna fail because they're the ray band Product is incredibly popular. I think this thing's gonna be popular too This is kind of cool to just have a little keychain thing where you can push and ask it a question I honestly wonder if this is similar to what
Open AI's hardware with Johnny Ive is gonna be and maybe Metagest beat open AI to the punch so not only are they stealing apples thunder because apples not coming out with cool new little products like this I mean we have the folding iPhone but that's six or seven years after Samsung came out with the folding knife or a folding phone So it's not like as you know, there's there's nothing innovative about that. I mean cool apple bit up But like other people have been doing it for years and so yeah, I think that this is Apple is wait. I have all right We hold on on this because I want to stay here for a second and I know I'll go along in this pod But it's so worth it guys jaden I did a whole podcast just between us before we've even got on the air so now we have like so much to talk about the Tom Gachi thing is amazing right and I'm just wondering because I was just watching an episode of black mirror like this last night Just a sort of like fresh my memory on this like I'm with you. So I don't know if Apple is going to sort of beat them to it I don't know if open AI. I don't know if people actually want something like rabbit memory the old rabbit like they Yeah, it's something funny about like let's try this again or something like that with like the image with that But jaden like I'm wondering when you're when you I thought you were going in different direction like when you were saying like
Could this be sort of a moment? I'm not sure every time we think it's a moment. It's almost never a moment But what if this thing you're a little muse which is a really cute thing I made mine a moose because it's my favorite animal. What if you have to keep it alive like the Tom Right like you can only keep it alive and it feeds on questions and it feeds on for getting to know you and all that kind of stuff And otherwise it's sort of like starts to super cute And what if it starts to get like weak and sort of like then it's kind of like lying in bed It's like won't you please like jaden This is the moment where met it really wants to screw everybody over This is the moment where it can get everybody and they are going to miss this opportunity because Tom My god cheese or time I go to whatever they're called like those are the things that mess with the minds of a whole generation Okay, well, I really hope they don't go down that rabbit. Oh, because that sounds terrifying And they will undoubtedly have a whole new slew of lawsuits from all the emotional trauma they caused on the world. Yeah But this is where I think this thing goes for all the people that think this is like a stupid stopwatch It has a two inch screen on it I would love to leave my house without my phone. You probably think I'm crazy
I would love to leave my house without my phone. Maybe I have this thing on my keychain in my pocket If there's an emergency I can make a phone call with it I know you can kind of do that with Apple watches So, you know, maybe this is in the same spaces the Apple watch But this would be really cool. You could just like you probably could click a button Say hey call an Uber from my current location to get me home And maybe there's a little screen on there that can do it for you But like imagine if this thing actually could replace a phone It has a small screen if you ever need it But basically it's just a voice to text AI tool that can do stuff and Because we have a clawed that did their Dispatch where it's can like the the mobile app on your phone can control your computer What if your computers at home you're out and about somewhere and you're like oh crap I need to send in this document. That's on my you know That's on in this folder you push the button on your little musing and you're like hey on my computer Go get this thing send it here do this start this project Oh jade this is you say no this is a jade jade No, no no no no no no jade Things everybody in the world is like jade where all they're doing like all the time is vibe coding when they're when their baby is two weeks old
That's not how the world works remember the humane pin jade the the world wants people with a you want a phone You want to be able to scroll Instagram. This is why like people use their phone to occupy their mind They don't use it to ask questions to vibe code more things for AI box By the way under 10 bucks a month AI box. AI guys you have to check it out You can compare all these models against each other You're gonna be paying like nothing to just check out all these other models It's the most incredible products my favorite thing in the world AI box. AI jade But the world does not act like you the world acts like addicted to their phone. This is not gonna replace it Well see but like maybe this is okay So it's a good point because we're all addicted to our phones because we're all on Instagram which is owned by meta So most likely they're not gonna make a tool that like unaddicts us from all their products So okay, I see there there might be a conflict of interest on this one But anyways, I'm you know big kudos meta is taking some big shots I appreciate them. They're making it free So whether whatever you think about them. This is gonna get used by a billion people like I I can see this coming
Muse will be a very will be a household name So I'm excited to see what what entire like ecosystems get built up around this whether that's plugins for businesses There's a lot of exciting stuff. All right guys We're we're going over on this episode But thanks so much for tuning in. Thank you for hearing our rants about how Connor is you know Deathly in love with Mark Zuckerberg now. I knew that that a surfer hair would get him at some point Thanks so much guys and also make sure if you haven't already this podcast would love a review from you It would actually be its favorite thing so if you could drop a review on the show that would help us out a ton All right catch you guys all in the next episode
