In one infamous case Rundle Fernandez exonerated the prison guards who essentially boiled Darren Rainey, a Black schizophrenic inmate, to death by keeping him in a scalding shower for two hours. In another case, she refused to prosecute a police officer accused of sexual assault. Her office only interviewed one of his alleged survivors.
