A botched execution in Tennessee has Governor Bill Lee now signing a stay on the death penalty in the volunteer state. We've got a Tennessee lawmaker here to react. Plus, Texas State Representative Brian Harrison will bring us inside the battle for the Lone Star Republic's all-important Senate seat. We'll also talk about some of the religious charities that are moving migrants into the interior of the country. Are they helping or are they hurting? Plus, we'll check in on the latest judicial Smackdown delivered to New York City Mayor Zora and Mom Donnie.
That and more next to the Matt Gaetz Show. Let's do this. We're shaking up Washington, DC. We're breaking the fever. We ever watch this guy on television? It's like a machine. He's great. Matt Gaetz. It's not every day you get to report on an execution that failed. Usually there's a pretty high chance of success that if you're trying to kill someone and you're the government, you'll be able to do it. But that was not the case last night in the matter involving Krista Pike. Krista Pike in 1995, lured a 19-year-old girl to her own death. She tortured and killed that girl. She brought part of her skull to school to show it off. She believed that the victim in this case had some interest in her boyfriend. Krista Pike got the death penalty. She's been sitting on death row ever since as this news report walks through the details of her crimes. Haleen was 19 when she was killed in Knoxville in January 1995.
Prosecutors said Krista Pike and two accomplices lured her into a wooded area. Pike and her then boyfriend tortured and beat Colleen, eventually cutting her multiple times and killing her. Pike was 18 when she told Prosecutor she believed Colleen was trying to steal her boyfriend. After the brutal murder, Pike took a piece of Colleen's skull back to campus and bragged about it. Krista Pike is still alive today, even though her death weren't with signed. And she was expected to be executed yesterday. The lethal injection did not result in Krista Pike's death. Not many people have observed an execution. I have. I was the criminal justice chairman of the Florida House of Representatives. I was working on legislation to improve the death penalty system in the Sunshine State. And when Frank Walls was executed, this is someone who had brutally raped and murdered a nine-year-old girl in Orangefield. I was there to see his final moments.
It was far more pleasant than he deserved. It was far more peaceful than his victim had to endure in her final moments. And the fact that these people sit on death row for decades is insane. We're doing a lot better on that in Florida. But one thing that will certainly put a hitch in your get-along is a botched execution. We have some of the witness accounts who observed this particular experience. Take a listen. I believe five executions in Tennessee. Nothing about today was normal, typical at all. At 734, she said, my arm feels like it's about to burst open. Then she smiles really big. Then she starts talking about that one spot on her arm. Does this happen like that? The one spot? Yeah, she's talking throughout this. Then starts breathing, moaning, snoring. The curtains close at first at 746. And she was clearly still alive. She was clearly still breathing and snoring.
We could audibly hear that. The curtains open again. Three minutes later, she's snoring very loudly at that point. Mouth open snoring. And then I heard them say, bring the clergy back in, which I've never seen before. But that meant they're going to try again. The protocol doesn't talk about what happens if you do this twice and they're still alive. I don't think that that is something that was planned for. So there was no rules about when to open the curtain after a second time. This has happened before. There are other circumstances where a death row inmate had muscles that were so large and needle didn't penetrate correctly. There were other cases where people's veins collapsed. And while we're not medical professionals and certainly weren't there, it's not inconceivable that someone would have some sort of vein or arterial rupture that would impact the medicine's ability, medicine. The drug's ability to achieve its intended consequence. Here in this case, the downstream consequence of the botched at execution is that there's
now a stay in place throughout Tennessee issued by Governor Billy. He's also investigating the matter. Take a listen. It's tragedy. And it's deeply disturbing to me. As far as we know, the Department of Correction followed exactly the protocol that was outlined and vetted and approved by the Attorney General's Office. We need to find out what happened. And until we find out, there will be a stay on execution. Stay of hers and all executions under my watch, but the end of the year going forward. Again, it's rare, but certainly not unheard of that an execution would go awry. I think back to 1997 in Florida, at the time we still had the electric chair and there were a few circumstances where things didn't go as planned. Not electrocute this man. We literally burned him today. His body was on fire. There was no way I could stop him.
I had to let it run, of course. The witnesses were a guest. That's the day I had to sit down and have a real serious talk with myself about what I was doing. That event in 1997 prompted quite the reaction from our Democrat Attorney General at the time in Florida. Bob Butterworth said, people who wish to commit murder, they better not do it in the state of Florida because we may have a problem with our electric chair. That's the legendary quote. Now that does bring us back to the specifics around Miss Pike and what should happen to her. Obviously the fact that there may have been a problem with the state's administration of Capitol Punishment doesn't mean she still doesn't deserve to die a point that we made recently on the Anchorman podcast. This is the first woman that Tennessee would have executed in 200 years.
You know her cause of death, her victims cause of death, blunt force trauma, not the dozens of stab wounds. The medical examiner said she was still alive. She had blood in her nasal passage because she was struggling. She was breathing in the blood until they beat her to death with an asphalt chunk crushing her skull. This is the most heinous murder. The death penalty was invented for just this type of situation. And here we have the Lindsey Clancy knock on effect. The details about her upbringing marked by years of sexual and physical abuse and neglect. We're not shared with the jury that sentenced her to death. No, she had a hard childhood. We just we can't do that to these people. Friar. Friar hard right now. And Lindsey Clancy and all the rest of them, everyone who deserves it. I'll pull the switch myself. These people deserve death for what they did. Period. I don't care if it is a man or a woman. If you identify as a heinous killer, you deserve capital punishment and it would be just in this matter.
I've worked on the death penalty for many years as a lawmaker again, improving Florida system. We passed something called the Timely Justice Act to ensure that capital defendants have proper counsel, but then ultimately meet their maker where justice demands. It is just wrong. It's a blight on our whole justice system that we have folks hanging around for decades. When there is no dispute about guilt or innocence, when we've tested all the evidence, heard from all the witnesses, and we're left with just the frivolous motions, I think we have a responsibility to act. I hope that no one has to sit down with these family members like I have and have them tell you about how these decades of appeals limit their ability to live their own lives. Only God. Only God can judge, but we can sure set up the meeting. Joining us now is Tennessee State Representative, Jody Barrett. Representative, thanks so much for being with us. What's your reaction to this botched execution in your state? Well, I think my first response to this is my heart goes out to the Slimber family having
to live through this for again, and not to get in closure, waiting 30 years to finally get to this point, and then to have it go so badly. It's an embarrassment for Tennessee, and I just feel terrible for that family. Governor Bill Lee has announced an investigation. What do you hope that that investigation reviews? And is it your belief that the state that the governor has instituted on the death penalty is temporary pending the results of that review? Well, this is unfortunately the second time that Governor Lee has stopped executions in Tennessee in order to do a review of our protocols to make sure that we are doing everything the right way. This spans back to 2022 with the attempted execution of inmate named Oscar Smith that went and arrived then. Executions were put off for four years in Tennessee while we did our own independent review.
We reinstated them this summer. We've had three executions this year, and still two out of those three have been botched. And so clearly there is still a problem in our Department of Corrections that needs to be corrected. I wonder if Tennessee lawmakers have considered other methods of execution in Utah. They have the firing squad, and that has never failed. Well, the good news is, the pinupon how you look at this, we're not reinventing the wheel. There are many other states that are successfully executing prisoners without these same problems. Part of what I think we have to look at in Tennessee, if we're going to continue with lethal injection as the primary method for doing this, we made a change back in 2024 where we went away from a three drug cocktail to a single dose of pinuparvatar, which has its issues. And clearly I think we're seeing those issues play out. So we need to question whether or not, again, we are doing the right steps using the right
drugs, using the proper people that were buying those drugs from. The whole thing needs to be reviewed from top to bottom. One of the big controversies about this case before the events of the last 24 hours was the fact that a state would execute a female death row inmate after this many years. Do you think that gender matters when making a determination as to whether to administer capital punishment? No, absolutely not. I mean, that's the weakest argument anybody can make. I do think that there's a significant question that we should all be debating as to why we wait 30 years to actually administer this justice. You know, all we're doing is delaying justice for the families of the victims. And of course, costs in the state tens of thousands, hundreds of thousands of dollars in that process. So again, if Tennessee is going to have the death penalty and we're going to administer that,
we need to do a better job of being efficient and effective in the way that we're doing. The death penalty is supposed to function as a deterrent. Do you think that when someone has to wait 30 years, the deterrent loses its value? Absolutely. I don't think there's any question to that. And certainly, after you wait 30 years and the state doesn't seem to be able to do it effectively, then that makes it even less of a deterrent. Yeah, no, I think you're right. Tennessee State Representative, Jody Barrett, thanks so much for joining us. And we hope you're able to get this worked out so that there can be an appropriate administration of capital punishment that complies with our Constitution and all of its various features. We appreciate you being here. Thank you, sir. Coming up, we head to the Lone Star Republic. State Representative Brian Harrison explains why Texans might not be too keen on Chuck Schumer's new move to seize a Senate seat there. Plus, we'll speak with John Frankman, a former
seminary student, about a decision the federal government made to reignite a relationship with Catholic Charities. This has been highly controversial because a lot of folks have asked whether or not religious groups resettling migrants into the interior of the country is a good thing. We'll debate it next. In Texas, expect to see a lot more political ads paid for by Chuck Schumer. That's the big news we're getting in the midterm elections. The Senate leader for the Democrats has started the new pack Texas forever. They planned to pump tens of millions of dollars of special interest dollars into the election of James Tallarico. Now remember, Ken Paxton has been one of the most successful Attorney General's in the country from his perch in Texas, and Republicans spent $100 million against Paxton. Some of those same Republicans now are concerned about the state of the race having no real appreciation or reflection as to their own participation in why we are in this
particular circumstance. But come on, Texas. Chuck Schumer, that's the direction we're going to go. The guy who thinks this is a backyard barbecue. You are Texas, the land of smoke and sweet, delicious meat. You cannot roll with Chuck Schumer, though Texas Republican Congressional candidate Brandon Herrera tells us Democrats have been eyeing Texas for some time. Texas has always been the price. The Democrats have always wanted to flip Texas, and this is the first time we're running a non-incomement candidate in years. And so they are pouring in millions and millions of dollars from DC, New York, California. All of this outside money is coming into Texas, and we need to combat that. And unfortunately, we're going to be in a bad year for it. I mean, this midterm, the Democrats are just already looking like this is their chance to get their blue wave. And we're going to combat it everywhere we can. But it's just going to be about getting Republican voters out to the polls. That's going to be the number one critical focus,
or should be the critical focus of every race this year. Brandon Herrera is right. And so how do we motivate those low-prepensity Republican voters to turn out? Well, one way is to showcase what's happening in the Democratic party, where a rising intellectual figure for the political left is now Hassan Piker. That's right, Hassan Piker, someone who has spewed some of the most despicable things you can imagine. But he wants to make sure James Talleriko knows that if he is elected senator, it's the far left who got him there. Hopefully, inshallah, after James Talleriko wins, okay? We have to remind him that we are the force that backed him both early on, and we are the force that allowed him to win this seat of power. And if he wants to maintain it, he's got to play ball. So keep in mind, Texans, if you vote for James Talleriko, you are really electing Hassan Piker's worldview to represent you in the lone-star republic. My colleagues, David
Pollock and Pearson Sharpen, I discussed the dangers of Hassan Piker's influence on the Democratic Party and these demands he's now making. Hassan Piker is the thought leader of the Democratic Party, where Hassan Piker goes, the Democrat activists and money and candidates follow. He's like a pied piper of awful in so many of these representations. But what do we make of this outfit? Piker was traveling in Japan with some other YouTubers and they went to a maid cafe as a comedy streaming bit. They actually dressed in the cafe outfits. You'd never catch me dead in that. So, I mean... By the way, I totally have my idea for our next OAN group outing. Joining us now is the man who will one day be the governor of Texas, but now he's a state representative representing the lone-star republic, Brian Harrison. Thanks so much for being here. Hassan Piker has put out word that if James Talleriko is elected to the United States Senate from your state, that he owes Hassan Piker, that he owns the radical left. Do you agree with that assessment?
Well, let me tell you something. It's an objective fact and I was great to be with you, Matt. Listen, I know James Talleriko for better for worse. I have served with James Talleriko in the Texas legislature for years. There has never been a more radically extreme leftist Marxist progressive candidate to ever run for office. I think at any level in the great state of Texas than James Talleriko. So, yeah, he's going to owe his allegiance to probably every other radical leftist socialist progressive Marxist in the country and it wouldn't shock me whatsoever. So, like, Texas has not often talked about as a battleground state, but as I travel around the lone-star state, I remind folks, we may be the biggest battleground state because I have long believed that Texas is the crown jewel in the left's plan to destroy this country. They believe if they can take over Texas, we may never get another real conservative, true Republican in the White House again. So, Texas, for better for worse, I think we are the epicenter of the political universe right now, and I think that Texas is sort of the line in the sand for the future of liberty and freedom
in these United States. You are the firewall. You are the electoral firewall. If we lose Texas and the electoral college, Democrats will run the country for 25 years at least. And so, I guess I'm curious from your viewpoint, why has this shift happened over the last two years? Donald Trump won Texas by over a million votes. There was no real Democrat contest there just two years ago, but now it really seems that you've correctly cast this as the most important swing state in the country. Well, look, I mean, and look, I don't think we should just ignore the polls. I know I have a lot of friends and colleagues who want to just ignore all the polls. I don't think we should do that. Whether we believe we're up or down, I always believe we should run and campaign like we're 10 points down. And I think the only way that Democrats can win in the state of Texas is if Republicans don't believe that it's possible. We need every Republican to get out and vote for every Republican from the top of the ballot all the way down to the bottom. And just never forget that whether you have frustrations with some of the elected leaderships in Texas or the establishment, Lord knows I can be critical of the elected, you know,
unaparity establishment here in Texas. Like, why, frankly, I think if we had done what I'd been begging them to do since last year, which, you know, slash property taxes by 30% or more, 40% put us on a path to eliminate property taxes, if we had governed like the bold conservatives that our voters deserve, I mean, why, frankly, there'd be a conga line to reelect every Republican in Texas and the polls wouldn't be that close. But that said, no matter what you think about any Republican on the ballot, every Democrat that is running for office is a hundred or a thousand times worse than the choice for for Republicans, not just in Texas, but across the country is a very simple one. Do you want lower taxes? Do you want more freedom? Do you want less government? Do you want less regulation? Or do you want more prosperity? That's what the Republicans offer. The Democrats are the party of big government, more taxes, more poverty, more tyranny, and sorry, open borders. I mean, Texas was ground zero for the Biden border invasion. We cannot let radical Democrats like James, Tallerika, and Gina, Hannah, Hosa get back into power and they would do everything they could to reopen the Southern border. The President Trump has so effectively sealed.
Senate, a Democrat leader, Chuck Schumer has opened a new pack, Texas forever. He intends to spend tens of millions of dollars on Tallerika's behalf. And I wonder if you see these contests as sufficiently about the candidates themselves or about these broader political wins that are shifting because it seems to me if the election is a referendum on James Tallerika, Republicans will win that election. My suspicion is that Chuck Schumer is spending this money so that the election will be a referendum on Ken Paxson who we like a great deal, but who some of those establishment Republicans you just criticized have just spent a hundred million dollars attacking. How do you see it? Yeah, absolutely no. Democrats are going to spend a small fortune in the hopes of trying to turn Texas blue. They make no mistake about that whatsoever. And that's why it is so imperative that every Republican, I don't care how you felt about the primaries. The primaries are in the rearview mirror now. Every Republican has got to unify behind Ken Paxson and the rest of the Republican ticket to make sure that the radical Democrats do not get out and vote. If Texas voters
know the truth about the radical Democrats like James Tallerika, there's no chance he would win. His views are so outside the mainstream. I mean, this guy, I think he's more radical than that looted ticket. He defeated Jasmine Crockett. I mean, Jasmine Crockett never went on TV and said, God is non-binary. Those are James Tallerika's words. James Tallerika said we should roll out the red carpet for the, you know, during the Biden border invasion years. He said radicalized white men are the greatest terror threats to domestic terror threat in the United States. And after 2000 years of Christendom, James Tallerika, the theologian has reutilized the true meaning of the biblical narrative of Joseph and Mary. And that's to justify elective abortions, okay? And in his top priorities, transgender abortion care, if Texans know the truth about James Tallerika who have no shop, but the Democrats are going to spend a fortune that the Texas Tribune ran ahead line. James Tallerika was moderating his views in advance of the election. No, that's not the truth. I'll tell you the truth. James Tallerika and the Democrats and Occupy Schumer, they are lying about his views because the truth was known the Democrats would have no shot in the Loan Saur state.
Well, we are going to count on the Republicans in Texas to get the truth out. Stay representative Brian Harrison won the very best state lawmakers in the country. Thanks as always for fighting and for the power of my brother. Great to be with you. Coming up, we will look into some of these faith-based charities that have been very involved in resettling migrants into the interior of the United States. Are they helping or harming? John Franklin will be with us to discuss. Plus, in New York City, a judge has stopped one of the tax and grab plans of Mayor Zoran Mamdani. Kevin Smith joins us to react. Stay with here. I'm speaking for myself, a lifelong Catholic. I wish they stay out of immigration if they don't know what they're talking about. Because if they bore my shoes for 40 years and talked to nine year old girl, they are great multiple times. Or stood in the back of the trailer, back track the trailer, 19 dead aliens that might be, including a five year old boy that baked to death. If they understood the atrocities that happened on the open border, I think they're opinion would change. And I welcome and discuss with any of them because they don't understand. Illuminum Aggression is not a victim of crime. We fully agree with BordersR, Tom Homan. The Catholic Church should not have any role in resettling migrants at scale, almost an institutionalized scale. Now that perspective you just heard from the BordersR may run
contrary to a recent decision by the Department of Homeland Security. That's right, the freeze on funding to Catholic charities has been lifted by Homeland Security Secretary Mark Wayne Mullen. This caught our attention because we have been aware of reports of potential abuse in some of these religious oriented refugee resettlement programs. The activities of Catholic charities in Maine are indesernable from a human trafficking organization. A recent revelation by investigators proved that Catholic charities accepted a ludicrous amount of US taxpayer money to basically traffic children who had entered the US illegally through Joe Biden's open Southwest border. My data and all the research I've done is there was an inadequate or no vetting process for these unaccompanied children that were flowing through these NGOs such as Catholic charities. There was a tremendous effort to move these kids as quickly as possible regardless of the danger that they
might be putting them in. That is so hard to hear. This sounds more like the movement of cattle or foodstuffs than the movement of human beings. And maybe that's because oftentimes government grants reimbursements were indeed tied to that scale. And there's damage to the country that results when you have this open borders infrastructure driving people into America, it sends the message to the entire world that they can come here without consequence. But it's not just the harm that it does to the United States. It's the harm that it does to these specific children in some reports that we've certainly been heartbroken by. Take a listen. The family members are leaving the children in the room to go positive. Now what was going on in
the rooms? You never know. A lot of all being put they didn't have a lot of money for you. Even the younger girls are going outside with the mothers. Yeah a lot of girls not coming back. These concerns over what Catholic charities is doing, what the federal government is doing, how children are being cared for, whether this is inviting more illegal immigration, it is led it to confrontation like this. Did you guys know you guys are eating and abetting and trafficking of children? Where 85,000 children have gone missing out the border? Why are you guys being complicit to the Catholic charities and helping them and trafficking the human and and destroying our country? You guys are helping eating and abetting the human and trafficking of Children. Jordan Gisnell is my good friend John Frankman. John fought for our country in the Army's Elite 7 Special Forces group as a Green Beret. He also attended seminary school and isn't about Catholic. Thanks for being here John. So we see this news that the Department of
Homeland Security is lifting their free's on partnership and funding for Catholic charities and I gave this a good bit of skeptical review because I'm aware of Tom Homan's criticisms of Catholic charities as really a mover of children into the interior of the country without a real understanding of the consequence. Yeah I'm absolutely surprised about the news as well. We know that the Catholic charities in Grand Rio Valley has received millions of dollars under the Biden administration and it seems like they were a necessary step in helping in the immigration of tens of millions of people not them specifically but just in general of what happened under Biden. I don't think that the individuals who are working there specifically think that they're part of this greater piece of helping with the mass migration but you know they were cut off last November for a reason because there were so many inconsistencies and because this group was used for that kind of mass migration piece. So I'm really surprised that the vans have been lifted
that I'd like to know why. It does strike us as a real shift in mission from the the type of thing that you would see out of your your local Catholic church. How does understand why Catholic charities has been involved at moving people into the interior of the country at such scale? Yeah so the the Catholic Church does teach that we have the responsibility to take care of all people, all poor, all migrants that countries with more money should help to the extent that they should. However it says that for the common good of each individual country that country can choose how they're going to prudentially allow people in. How they're going to take care of their own priorities, their own citizens. So I think that the Catholic charities when they're getting free money from the country, from the US federal government they're obviously going to take it. When there are people who maybe from false pretence of what Catholicism really is, want to kind of aid in helping out migrants and part of that huge responsibility is the fault of the bishops for
emphasizing taking care of the poor a lot more than they've emphasized not killing unborn babies by not holding Catholic politicians responsible who support abortion for years. Yeah I think that's a fair point of hypocrisy to dial in on. But John also I think about the poor people in some of these sanctuary cities who suffer as a result of unchecked borders. And I know you're a border hawk but some of these Catholic charities bring in such a large group of people that poor folks who are in those areas see services strained. Do you think that that's something that is taken into consideration when this mission of refugee resettlement is so central to what they do? Yeah I'm not sure. I mean I don't think that a lot of these organizations that actually think about the second-order of effects because when we're giving so much money to Catholic charities I don't think that they see that the problems that come from mass migration they don't see that there's so much sexual assault that happens to the children the women that come through the
families are divided that even if we have a poorest border on eyesight that the drug cartels on the Mexican side they have total control of the border they are thriving under this. I mean Mexico we've talked about it before it is just the failed state where the cartels have so much more power than the government in so many ways so I think a lot of these second-order effects are not thought well thought of and good intentions doesn't isn't enough you need to really think things group. Before George W. Bush was president NGOs that had a faith mission were treated with hostility from the government and I think George W. Bush did the right thing he said we're not going to discriminate a date against organizations because faith is a part of addiction recovery services that they provide or any other treatment or therapy or assistance that's provided but this now seems to kind of be a very concerning conduct where do you think the right line is how should the government think about getting the the wonderful value that comes out of faith warriors contributing
to care for their neighbors without getting entangled in what seems to be a misplaced theology. Well I mean first of all I'm the big 10th amendment guy and I think if it's not delegated to the federal government specifically it should be something hell and no let the state look level so I think being 40 trillion dollars in debt right now means that our federal government needs to step back uh because that's affecting your your general citizen but you know the country needs to be focused on what is what is for our common good what is going to help our citizens what are those organizations that are going to help that out um and it's just unfortunate that the Biden administration kind of politicized and use Catholic organizations for their own ends and really in a in a bad way that tarnished the Catholic name um so you need to put those checks and balances in look at what is the mission you're trying to to get done and then then you can assess whether you can use those organizations but I'd much rather the federal government and get back to just federal defense and naming post offices. to easily sign up for the news and conservative talk you can't get anywhere else yes i do believe that it is legal and it is right to have a surcharge on the taxation of those homes so we can provide for everyone in the city raising 500 million dollars by taxing those who can afford a second home worth more than five million dollars to then put that money back into every new yorker's life i think that's not only the right thing to do it's the thing that we have to do a new york court struck down mayor mom donnies tax on second homes but that doesn't seem to be the point after all the signal in what you just heard from the boy mayor is that it's only about achieving the outcome it's about making sure you know that he wanted to punish people if they could afford a second home in new york city because that's really what socialism is driven by not better outcomes from the people who are supposed to be served but the feeling that you are actually punishing rich people well turns out socialism can make rich people poorer but it makes poor people
poor too joining us now is the host of loud majority live are very favorite new yorker kevin smith so kevin mayor mom donnie gets smacked down by the courts on his second home tax what's your reaction well i think the best part of this clip is the fact that he believes that because he thinks it's legal therefore it is legal that's not how the law works i know when you're a trust fund baby like like zohan you think you just get whatever you want to you know you just dump your feet until your parents eventually give in but that's not how the law works and uh maybe uh maybe he should think that into account before just making things up if he goes along it doesn't strike me that he's making a play for the law it really strikes me as a virtue signal the way that he stood outside of ken gryphan's home the way he boasted about the fact that he was putting this into effect it's more about the fact that he wants new yorkers to think that he wants to punish the rich than anything else are they still buying the act oh they absolutely are because
it's the perpetual victim mentality uh the reason why he can't accomplish the things that he wants is because those evil judges those evil capitalists won't allow it to when really he knew that he could never get this through in the first place but now he gets the play the victim and say oh well look i tried but uh these you know this this mean republican statin island judge wouldn't let me new york has endured a lot when it comes to bad leadership uh Eric Adams bill de blasio these are not people you would put in charge of your local rotary club but they ran one of the most important cities on the planet earth and the city was resilient i mean it certainly suffered under atoms and de blasio but new york was still new york do you see the city as uh resil sufficiently resilient to survive these socialist efforts of your current mayor you know i it would take a lot for me to say this but but no it is not the city i remember oh you know thirty seven it is a different
new person when i was in my twenties going out to new york city nightclubs they don't exist the city that never sleeps doesn't have that sort of you know three a.m. you know underground nightclub kind of vibe that that we were always so known for um because all the people the talent all the people that would start these have opened them up in Miami uh they have they all fled during coven and they never came back and now we are a city that has nothing but extremely poor people and extremely rich people just like every other socialist hellhole on the planet yeah it does seem that the stratification of society has gotten worse not better what do you think that ultimately leads to because the the the path for mom donny if he doesn't get things like the pettitair tax i think only becomes more radical oh absolutely and he's going to start holding relatively moderate democrats um hostage pretty much which is what he did to Kathy Hokel the reason why she didn't face a primary is because the ds a because she came to the dsa
and endorsed mom donny they got what they wanted and she avoided a primary from uh from her from her lieutenant governor and possibly from tish james uh that that's what they're going to keep doing they're doing it in the new york state assembly right now uh any sort of normal moderate upstate democrat can get nothing done because the dsa controls the new york legislature well that's their plan for all of us that's that is not a you new york specific plan they want to do that in denver they want to do that in los angeles they want to do it in washington dc kevin smith our good friend from lab majority life thanks as always for stopping by and sharing the perspective from the big apple thanks dragon so a lot of things in life are complicated but getting your prescription drugs doesn't have to be you can work with my friends at all family pharmacy and if you go to all family pharmacy dot com forward slash mat and use code mat ten you're going to get 10% off of your entire order they've got over 400 medications including vitamins supplements antibiotics glp

of mining jobs and add another ninety five billion dollars to the u.s. economy we've almost become politically desensitized to it every week the announcement of a new steel plant a new smelter more investment coming from outside the united states into fund the dreams and ambitions and wages of american workers well as we are now in the thrust of political season a lot of people are focusing on gas prices but the trump administration right on time in a place like iowa that's very significant in this cycle for a senate contest a governor's race they want you to know that the economy is more than gas prices this is a restructuring that allows american manufacturing to power gdp growth and rising wages for the decades to come that was a point made by camp trump campaign veteran carolina sunshine on our program take a listen what republicans and the president have to go out and remind people as you didn't just elect us to bring down your gas
and grocery prices even though that's the reality that's staring you in the face every single day you you elected us to make america great again which means fundamentally restructuring the imbalanced economy we have had for the last four decades in this country and that's not something that is done overnight but you have to highlight that progress and joining us now is the executive director of unleashed prosperity tim desher tim we head into these midterms with a lot of focus on the economy you have shared some data with us regarding people's income gains over these last three terms president trump's first term president biden's one and only term and now where we currently stand how do you think americans should react to this change in living conditions well you you almost don't need to by the way mad it's great to be here but you almost don't even need to say the numbers but you know if you're the dumbest of dumb you can see that that president trump left us in his first term with an amazing economy incomes were up in an
amazing way and then biden came in and started spending and and and cove it happened and all the bad things that happened happened and and literally inflation 20% cumulative change destroying all of the income gains that president trump gave us and then what happened when president trump came into office and biden gave us that inflation was that president trump started cutting regulation he cut taxes and started getting investment and you started to see that not only what was happening was that inflation was leveling out but then you started to see wages rise so high mad that now we are up it actually up americans are up their real median household income is up $2,000 from the biden malaise of inflation this is an incredible story not being told because it's really hard to understand actually and and biden and the democrats are hoping that we aren't able to communicate that what do you see as some of the key sectors of the economy contributing to
this wage growth well look there's no question about it and and i know there's a lot of different opinions on ai and and and the data centers but but we need to be very clear about this the two trillion dollars that have been created over just just the last year has been the investment and the hope of ai and what that's going to do to change our economy yeah i don't i'm not exactly sure map that we can really tell a story if we don't tell that story along with it and that's why you see president trump being so gung ho about making sure that are we doing ai in the right way in a safe way and building data centers in a right way and in a safe way but this is where the bunny is this is where people's games are coming from it's also coming from more resource extraction in the united states we've seen that in oil and gas we've seen that with more fracking and now
president trump is announcing in america's heartland more mining more steel rare earths in places like minnesota i worry that so much of this has been done through executive action that a flip back to the left could stop some of the gains that would naturally be forthcoming from some of this capital investment should are these investments secure or are they subject to changing political wins well look there's no question about it there was a shift that you know it mean everybody remembers it when when you saw you know jamey diamond you know all the sudden just saying that hey we you know we love america and everything's great and we're going to get rid of our dei program and we're going to get rid of all this stuff you know climate net zero stuff look that was not an accident that was a shift change because president trump came in and said we're going to do things differently and they saw an opportunity and they're benefiting from that in a great way so look i don't know what's going to happen if the democrats come in if if if they start changing the stuff but i do know
that there is a marked change mat between just just the last five years a marked change we were once this way we are now this way and we are growing again you saw the gdp print come out yesterday 2.2 percent higher than it was expected you know this is the kind of stuff that we're seeing man on a daily basis come out because of these programs we would love we would love some of this good economic yeah we'd love to see some of this good economic news result in lower interest rates we've seen the opposite out of the fed what do you think they're waiting for you know i think that the inflation's too high at this point i really do and i think that kevin wash is an inflation hawk he said we're going to have stable prices we are going to get to that 2 percent rate and we're still tracking you know a little bit too high at this point and by the way the big the big number is the gas is a problem there's no question about it we got to open up the straight we got to make sure that the futures market gets in in in tech but remember what's driving core inflation the real core inflation number not just gas prices it's housing that that's a local thing for those
people who live in california in new york it just takes it sky high and so what you got to do there is he got to get inflation under control you got to get the debt under control and that's no small you know topic but but at the same time no that is what kevin wash is doing at the fed and i think he's going to put the pedal to the metal and i think we're going to get on the right track to mdesh's executive director of unleashed prosperity thanks is always first stop and buy and bring this up to date see him at thanks that's all the time we have this evening but stay right here david paul prime time is up next david what do you have in store for us palmat tenisee pumped two doses of the lethal injection drugs into christ a pie class night and she survived some people are talking about whether or not it was botched on purpose i don't know and of course we're talking about those three israeli passengers that fought a knife wielding pilot and saved an airplane that was in a nose dive
i have a pilot coming on to talk about how they did it and what america was that they all survived is coming up right after your show i will be sticking around to check all of that out until next time make sure to sign up for the oan live app if you haven't already just go to oan n dot com follow me on x at mat gates and email us the mat gates show it oan n dot com have a lovely evening everyone and let's go get them for all of our viewers out there asking where to watch one america news we'd like to introduce you to oan live oan live is the best way to stay up to date on the hardest hitting news and our talk shows and the best part is oan live is only four ninety nine per month credible honest and unbiased reporting at a fraction of the cost of cable so just click on the link at the top of our home page oan n dot com to easily sign up for the news and conservative talk you can't get anywhere else
