Martin Emerson Jr. Seeks Prove-It Deal After Achilles Tear

0:00For the NFL, it's March 17th. Here's what's happening. Martin Emerson Jr. was a promising cornerback for the Cleveland Browns, drafted in the third round of the 2022 NFL draft out of. Mississippi State, he quickly showed star potential with strong play in his early seasons. In his rookie year, he played all 17 games and had 15 pass breakups. The next season brought 14 more pass breakups and four interceptions, marking his breakout performance. Coming off that success, he started full-time opposite Denzel Ward in 2024. But it was a contract year in 2025, and he needed a big season to secure his future. Disaster hit early in training camp with a non-contact Achilles tier, sidelining him for the entire year. Now his contract has expired, making him an unrestricted free agent. Entering week two of free agency, no team has signed him yet. With his size, length and coverage skills, the Browns should offer a low-risk proof of a deal to see if he can bounce back.
