Smavering applause. It's worth no two. It's less embarrassing when we just are already in an empty room like in the studio. Nobody claps because I don't really expect it to be happening elsewhere. Right, exactly. It's weirder when like it's a half clap. Yeah, exactly. It's like, oh, I guess we're all obligated to do it or don't because I don't know what's happening here. I prefer it to not happen ever. Dirty jobs. The same. But you know the sales guys show up over here. You see I know. Come on guys. I'm trying to add a Copeland and Derek Poppins. Those rosy police. Hey ladies, you listen to radio. Hey, you know Derek, you know who his dad is? Me too. Dude, I just got snubbed like a four year old for a handshake. I'll snubbed. What? What did you go meet her? She was like, I'm good, dude. It's okay. It does like she listens all the time. I was like, it doesn't really seem like. I would, yeah, little conservative. She listens all the time. Four years old. Good Lord. Dude, the sales guys aren't even listening right now. Now they're talking about you. Dude, yeah. They're the ones who get the applause. Never

this present guy. We can take a dashboard. Drew Poppins or Santa Rita is the deputy operator or football leaders. Come on go get on the board here. He put on the board here. He's the president, though. When I played everything I was. He's the president, place on the board music I, then. Okay, well, because he would have nice Baltimore in the blue chief, and he's an amazing graduate. He has a greatyse. it's sometimes he writes great books like game changer sometimes his new book is available now it's still his game game changer of August Thompson on the humor guest line I mean I don't want to I don't want to take shots at you but it seemed like Steph was was feeling like shots were being taken at him at media day the other day when he got up was like oh are we talking about missing the plants that bad we were we were discussing how I don't know if Steph is cognizant of our thoughts you're not about him it's about everybody else yeah I'm going to take the shot at Steph delusion right this is why Steph is because he's so positive and he always believes that like come on Steph

like the human calling on play and see for two years now yeah but he thought they were given them the foresee I don't understand that but that's that right and he's like oh man we got me we got very well we got yeah I can always believe I kind of admire that about him well Marcus we think about Steph reacting that way at the same time Steve Kurran dream on greener's cussing emphasizing process over expectation so it sounds like they realize what's going on while Steph's like come on guys championship this year now I don't think he said he's just I mean even at the end of the year he was he was the one saying we got to stop talking about that right I do think there's a part of Steph that believes they can be really good but it's contingent upon they essentially get it back there Mojo and for so long it felt like their Mojo was championship experience right and they've been kind of leaning on that trying to find

that back but I think they've all realized that's over and now it's about building the same thing that they built in 2015 where it's about camaraderie execution taking advantage of all of the players you know but there wasn't this thing about oh this player doesn't do this so we're not going to use them you know 2015 it was strength and numbers it was like we're using everybody you know you have if you could do this one thing we'll use that one thing so I think that's exciting them a bit especially the O-heads because they're going back to 2014 2015 like putting in new system being creative and focusing on what makes a good team a good team instead of just presuming the greatness of staff to Dreymon and Steve Care will automatically put them in contingent. Talk to Marcus Thompson on the UMA guest line so we could go when we got done talking to you a few hours later Steph Curry signed his contract does get the max leaves about 20 million on the table and now they can work with 50 next off season

Steph has always appreciated the attempts that Mike Dunleavy has made but when he's sacrificing 20 million of his own money is there more pressure than there was before to do something in steps remaining years? I think he did it because there is no pressure like in a sense like he he believes that's how they're operating like it's already there I think if he was worried that they might not be pressured then you got a whole different conversation but I think Steph agrees that they are trying to win and from what he's seen and what he knows behind the scenes he believes that they're trying to work because you just can't least 20 million on the table if you think they might just pocket it right so I don't think that's in the mix if he think that's going to happen but I think we said all along and I've even written it, Steph is in the mix he knows what's happening he's on board and his decision is to re up so that's a sign of his confidence that their minds

that are aligned like they want to win and they're going to try to win and he's okay with the level that they're pursuing I think that's why he left the money on the table and he probably would have left more if he'd known what the number of that just required him waiting to the next off season and when you 38 you don't really don't wait on the hundred and sixty million you just go ahead and grab that. I hear you on that I guess I look at it if I'm Steph from his perspective you're like yeah I'm leaving money on the table but it's also what are you going to do with that money? I mean I like it's he doesn't leave you here's the money but that's part one I've made a sacrifice what are you going to do with it and that's the part that I question that again I've said to you before outside of and I don't think done leave it gets enough credit for when Jimmy was acquired Jimmy Butler that is but I also think that there's appropriate criticism over the last couple of off seasons all be it not that much flexibility but now you're going to have a little flexibility you keep talking about the money coming off I'm

like what what's important to Steph and leaving this money on the table? See I don't think money is a problem is getting people to take the money so they have money that's a problem yeah that is a problem yeah that's not like that's like that will give more it's just came down to a honest man I will come but you know I don't have the money that's what you would give up right yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah but that that it's not the money situation their failure is to pull off the move that makes they get somebody here once they like they'll pay whatever like that that's that's how Joe Lake of operas they'll pay now under this whole second apron situation there's some limitations so sometimes especially for those players maybe not superstars but like right in the middle and it's like you can't hit to them because all you have is the taxpayer a bit level like you know where it's like all right that's

what Camilla salary slot was all right here's 20 million who are the players you could get for 20 million right and once they couldn't flip that which is like a worthy criticism like now how do you get that type of player that's ten million dollars a year goes to that right all right we got that we got the taxpayer or we can we can give you some we can give you 15 18 now to get the player that that is deciding based on money so I don't think it's I don't think the fear is the right there's won't spend the money it's either they'll have a player they want and can't afford to pay them and step is like you go a little towards that end or the player they want they somehow pull off the right moves to get those are the the criticism of not whether or not those good the money talk to Marcus Thompson on the UMA guest line how concerning is Persinguist being out already to start training camp I don't like I get it I'm saying but I don't understand

is it has anybody watching for a thing is these last years if you were banking on for a thing is I'm concerned about you yeah this is who he is this is where he is in his career won the finals and he missed part of finals like like he said it's just who he is so you have you can't if I didn't know who he is and where he is and where he is in his career he's a guy who's peridially injured he seven foot four like that's how it works for him and his body and his health and so you've got to be prepared for this like he's he's boned is he's like you know how when you can pay every two weeks a couple times of the year you get that third check in a month that's third check in a month. Of course, then he's that third check where it's like if you get him, if he's playing, he's going to be really good and you don't be happy about that, but you got to be prepared for when it's

not coming. Which is most of the time, seemingly, Marcus Tom, the athletic joy, yes, only we got like 11 months of the year. You said that one time of the year, you get that one five week year, we get the five Fridays in the extra payday, Marcus with us on the weekend. Can we jump into some Niner talk? I want to ask you because we keep talking and Kyle was asked today about about like, you know, he's never going to disparage a previous opponent, but everybody asking about whether or not this is a real barometer for the Niner's and I'm I'm really feeling confident about this game just based on what Denver's put on tape so far this year. I guess what I would ask you relative to the 49ers because they've had so many injuries. We haven't really seen the injuries affect the style of play on the field that quite yet, even though it's been a variety of positions that have been heard. I would ask you, is there anything about this Niner three and O team that you're not buying yet? I don't know. I'm kind of buying it. I'm kind of buying.

For Pat, I wouldn't be surprised if you saw some issues with the secondary. If you get a good quarterback and there was even 15, like maybe, I mean, they're not really destroying quarterback. So you can't, it's not like, oh, I'm not buying with a fifth of line. It's, you know, it's cool. So I don't think there's anything about this team that feels like school's gold. It's almost like the opposite. It, you know, they're they're they're making gourmet meals with with leftovers in the fridge and you start wondering what happens when they get the full ingredient. Like this feels like that. And and a part of it is like, man, if your quarterback is playing outstanding, it covers the whole lot. So maybe you say Brock won't be this good. But man, like I'm buying, I'm buying Brock being this good. So I feel like like the Raiders of three and O and 49ers of three and O, I'm not buying the Raiders.

I'm buying the 49ers. Oh, come on. You're not buying Kercou? No. Sorry. Oh, come on, man. Kercou, thanks. Come on, man. Now I'm with you on that one. Yes. I'm not going to. But but does does it feel good now that it kind of like, I guess the national audience or even people that hated Brock Purdue are kind of giving him giving him his love now is do where it felt like when he was coming into the league and obviously that's successfully on people like, yeah, but it's a scheme thing. MacKyle and I'm not buying this. Now it seems like everybody unanimously is saying Brock Purdue is actually the real deal now. Yeah, I never understood why people need that like who aren't going like I feel like I understand why Brock might want it. Like right, that's a bridge. I don't understand why my fans want everybody. I love Brock Birdie. I actually kind of think you don't. Brock Purdue plays really well when you think he's up. Right? So now you got to deal with, okay, how does Brock Birdie handle expectation? How does he handle, you know, the pressure to go out here

and throw for 300 yards and forward touchdowns of the game? How does he handle success? Like that's another level and you're glad to see him get there. But he equal form pretty well when you underestimate it. Right? Like he got that kind of chip on the shoulder. So it's interesting development. I think he's gotten to the point where he knows what he's doing so well. He knows how to system so well that I don't see him having those three or four games stretches he'd have where he's just not really good. He's throwing a pick. It feels like he might have gotten over that. And I have confidence that even if he has a back game, he'll know what to do to bounce back. So we might actually be seeing Brock Birdie kind of come into his own as a quarterback. And that's probably the best sign he could think of. Well, that's kind of where I'm at, Mark, because I was making that case to Derek on on Wednesday that like, you know, he was 20 of 20. Or whatever it was with 18 consecutive completions against Miami.

And that's again, they should have won and you go, man, good teams, mall Miami, the way that he did. But it's one thing with everything's going great. And go man, he's operating well when everything's at its peak. Last week, he had more in completions in the game that he had in three games or two previous games coming into week three. What I would ask is, is it as impressive that he just came in with ease and seemingly tons of calm and no stress, no anxiety? And I had the confidence watching him that he came into that fourth quarter after he had one point at a 23 to six lead and just kind of put the game away. I had asked, I guess, what's more impressive? Like the numbers are how little stress he seems to be playing with. No, the latter, that that, you know, that's what you want from your quarterback. Right? I don't care what's happening. Four quarters of chance for the win. They come out there chilling like I got this, you know, like, like, I mean, you know, around here, we drove on to the original Joe Montana. And his famous story in the, in the huddle before the gang went and drive to get Cincinnati. He's like, is that John Candy? Like that's what you want from your quarterback.

And I think you see a bit of Brock, that in Brock, right? And, you know, Brock plays like somebody who's been through some stuff, right? Like, you know, he got a story to tell, you know, he's the guy in the back of a, a, a, getting the coffee was like, a man, if you want to talk, let's go off side. Yeah. Styrofoam. You know, a little styrofoam. What are these don't listen to that guy? You ain't, you ain't, you ain't, you ain't, you ain't. It's not not anything before, right? He's like, let me tell you about my injury and end of the championship game, right? Let me see about the wide open Brock, uh, uh, uh, branded, you can end on who I did hit for the Super Bowl title, right? Like, it's like that dude's been through some stuff. He, he's seen some things you can tell like he is okay with adversity. He doesn't, he doesn't switch. I think that's impressive. And once the quarterback gets that, like, you could see it even watch an air in Rogers, right? Like, even if he's not as good as he thinks he is, he, he, he carries that aura,

right? He's out here like, yes, and that's a coach. Like, give me a place. Like, he knows what he's doing. That Brock with that is that, that's crazy. And I think that's way more impressive than pads that he gets bad. He can just, I'm with it because it's a level of comfort where it's like, you're not really thinking about anything. Aaron Rogers is a bit different because he's got that old man thing like, yeah, to me, to me, Aaron Rogers, yelling at his coach from the field last night is the equivalent of the old guy who will just like fart in public and be like, whatever it is. Like, I don't, I'm not trying to impress him. Like, I don't care how I wore sandals to this, this indoor event. I should have a tie. I don't care. Yeah. What are you going to make me do? I'm showing up. I'm exactly. So we're all hoping to get over the banquet. Yeah. If I get old enough to let myself go, that's the, that's the dream, right? Like to just get to that. I hope one day together. Yeah. I just want to get to the point. I think I'm almost there while I don't have to say hello anymore. I just want to give a head nod. That was just point. Yeah. Or it's like, all right now. And everybody know what I'm talking about. The truth.

I want to give it a sit down. Hello. Yeah. People come to greet you. You sit down and people come to you. That's the way it needs to be. What happened to Marcus Thompson of the athletic join us each and every week. Best sports rider in the country. Marcus, great to talk to you. We'll do it again next Friday, man. Later, Marcus. I look forward to it. I see y'all. All right, later, bro. Marcus Thompson, one of our favorite guests each and every week. Interesting thoughts though, because he, we've talked to him for years about Steph Curry and his scope on things, but also these right. It's not the problem really isn't money. Joe Lake, it was proved he's going to sign the check. It's about getting people to, it's kind of no joke. It's sort of in a different manner. And it's for a different reason. It's kind of what the giants have gone through for years or had gone through for years with free agents, right? Where it's like, dude, it's not like Tony took a different deal than was offered to him. He just didn't want to come here. Aaron Judge was like had to play the giants to get the Yankees to give him that other deal, but he was going to come. It's just he wanted to be somewhere else for the Warriors. They're dealing with that now where they were the title chase destination. And now it's a much different situation.

It's why would I go there to be the number one guy instead of joining a team that was already an operating machine? No, of course. And that's what the lure of the Warriors were once upon a time where it's like, hey, KD, do you want happiness? Well, it's time one and one. So you'll join the super team. He to Marcus Cousins. You're an aftertown league right now. You tore your killies, signed for the mid level and you'll rejuvenate your career and everything. So when it comes to the Warriors, I get that where they thought for a long time now like, LeBron, you don't want to play with Steph. Hey, Yannis, you've always wanted to play with Steph. Yeah, wasn't about the money. It was never about the time. You don't want to be the guy. What happens after Steph? Well, yeah, but it was signed here for six years. You're like, what about after Steph? But it also was the money like also they were trying to finagle things where it's like, hey, LeBron, can you sign for less than your worth? And he's like, I'd rather do that with it. But he did load it. Yeah, he rather, he doesn't love even that. He'd rather do it with an everywhere organization. By the way, just to listen to some audio or seeing some quotes from Mike Evans on his status for Sunday, he's going to try to go. But like talking about this rib injury, he says quote, that has hurt bad. He felt like someone stabbed me in my chest.

I'll do my best to play Sunday. Bro, that looked bad. I'll do what's hot like he got shot like he was like, oh, God, this is really hurt. What's hot? It was like a non-contact play. Because he had gotten crunched on a play a couple of snaps before the... By Boota Baker, yeah. We caught a pass and he got kind of crunched and I was like, we would do it. But he didn't even, they showed that again in slow motion on TV. I watched it on the monitor of the in-house in the press box that day. And he didn't even win when he was hit by Boota Baker. Then they went back up and it's like two plays later and he hits that little crossing pattern. Yeah. And Brock kind of airmails it over him. And I sort of feel like Brock saw him pull up and then Brock might have pulled up on the throw and he kind of airmails him over the middle. Might have been a third downplay else. Right. Second or a third downplay. But he immediately kind of grabs himself and then he goes down and then he gets to the sideline and couldn't even continue on and went down again. Because it was later. It looked to me. I was afraid it was like a punctured long or something. Because sometimes you see guys do that when they can't catch their breath. Right. And you see that with boy, my least favorite collapse long story ever is a Tony Romo's long collapse. Oh yeah. We had a great game against the 90s. And then he beat the 90s. He did. He was like three touchdown pass. Just one long and he's beating this.

I know. He's like, wimpin' up another field. I know. I know. I know. I was not fun. I was like, what's the point of the moment? Like, whatever, boot a baker. But then like three plays later he's like, ah damn. Yeah, this definitely affected me. You know the most annoying thing was, though, back in the day when I worked on NFL Network. Like when you worked on NFL Network, the most annoying thing? The most annoying thing. Was when? Seven hours of commercial free football? Well, no. That was fine. You're watching the football. I know if you were allowed to pee. Um, sometimes. No, but when I worked on the fantasy shows and they wanted you to find, when did someone get hurt? Show me the play that they got hurt. And I was like, what's not that simple sometimes? Like with Mike Evans. Yes. I hit by boot a baker. You don't actually see him like, oh no, I'm hurt. Like with TV producers. He doesn't wave to the table. Yeah, exactly. Like it would, it would piss me off so much. But like, he's not showing any pain right there. Yes, but that's where we got hurt. It's like the day I see the effects of him being injured. And I'm like, I can't show you that. I'm sorry. The best example is the day I'm scribbling play where he had been hurt with for a few days. Yeah, exactly. Prior to his actual injury in Australia, left the field and went to the blue tent, came back on the field. Unless you're there in the press box sometimes and you're watching with your own person,

watching when the blue tent goes up. Right. It's a little bit more difficult to pinpoint exactly when injuries happen. Right. Because Evans, by the way, the given go play last week or the hook and ladder. Yeah. You know, Mike Evans is out of the game right before that and seemingly with an injury. Right. He goes in for the first nap. They get flagged for a false start, push back five yards. So it's first and 15 from their first and 15 from their own 15. Evans then is out there. He has a little play where he bangs into somebody. He might have caught a pass and gets crunched there. Todd, you second. He's not, boy, he hit his head there. It was at a, he came off looking upset, angry. He's on the sideline and then it's third and 13 and he just runs back on the field. Throwes his helmet back on, runs back out. That's the hook and ladder play. Yeah. So I was like, he was kind of a bitch of bone in and looking like he was in some pain and some agony there and let it go and went back out there and they get the 82 yard touchdown. And then it was like two series later. He deals after the touchdown. He deals with that, that rib injury. So he seemingly says he's going to play or give it a go this right. It's right to play. Who knows? He's slim pattern over the middle and take a hit.

Who knows how that reacts? So if he's out, he's still feeling good or better. You know what I mean? Don't even think in Mike Evans. You know what I'm feeling better. Who's sir Tang? I'm going to guard. Probably lost out there. Nothing to do. What are they going to even do with sir? I think it's better for the lives of they don't have him. Pick and daisies. We should be guarded. Okay. So if Mike Evans goes and I'm counting on him going 34 17 Niners is my call. If Mike Evans doesn't go. Yeah. I'm going to call it 28 17 Niners. Oh, okay. Not much of a difference. We're shaving off 11 points. I'm shaving off a six point. Six points. Yes. Yeah. That's what I'll go with. Okay. All right. Six points. I'm stick with Mike. I'm account for a touchdown from Mike. All right. Adam Copeland, Derek Poppoh, if you live from a Jack's restaurant in Pleasant Hill. I got Darren Jan hanging out with us today. And we get to see him. He's done back in our KMBR studios. Still going to join us at 450 today Tim Ryan will be on the call with Guy Haberman on Sunday at 125 right here on these sports. He's going to see that Tim Ryan joins us at 450 and Lawrence Kruger at 550. Dude, why isn't Kruger just be here? He may.

Doesn't he live in the night? He may be needed to watch the high school football tonight. Yeah. Kruger's in the night. Did you get him over here? All right. Tell him. Tell him. Tell him. Yeah. Call Kruger now and tell him to get over. He's like, I tell him you're here with the beer to Hill come running. He's like, I caught a little bit of that dirty work. And I think we'll stop by. All right. Kruger going to join us 515. Tim Ryan at 450. When we come on back. Where are you betting this week? It's time for dirty works addition of piss poor props. Each week we'll do it next on these sports later. Sometimes we do. We made the connection. Yeah, you were getting ready to fire shot. I heard it. Sometimes the.
