Manchester's Water Street: New Skyscrapers & Park

The vision includes four skyscrapers filled with apartments and a landmark new park about six and a half acres in size, similar to the recent Mayfield, redevelopment. This area sits between Castlefield and Trinity Way, currently packed with warehouses and rundown industrial sites. It's right next to the new Aviva Studios and the emerging St. John's neighborhood, which could draw residents with plenty of nearby attractions. Council leaders say the spot feels cut off right now, but this project could knit it into the historic Castlefield area and the lively St. John zone. They're pushing for thousands of new homes, including more truly affordable ones, to make the city center welcoming for everyone. The blueprint also calls for turning old railway arches into shops and eateries, plus fresh walking paths to tie everything together.
