LSU Football's High Stakes 2026 Season

0:00On March 13, LSU football heads into the 2026 season with sky-high hopes after a massive offseason overhaul. The Tigers hired Lane Kiffin as coach and landed a 40-player transfer class, including three of the top five available talents. Powerful General managers say LSU now boasts the biggest payroll in college football, topping $40 million to build this roster. Expectations are huge in Baden Rouge, where anything less than a college football playoff spot would sting after all that spending. Kiffin's era won't deliver a title right away, but the bar is set firm for a deep postseason push. Fans and insiders are buzzing about potential pitfalls, though. Three-trap games stand out, a road trip to Arkansas after brutal match-ups with Alabama, Texas, and Tennessee, a home date with Mississippi State and their mobile quarterback, and a visit to Auburn before another tough late stretch. These spots could trip up the Tigers if they look ahead. Utah kept key rushers and receivers despite coaching changes.

1:01Mississippi State brings back a sharp defense of mind and a dual-threat QB that tests LSU's defense. Auburn reloaded with a portal quarterback and strong backs under new leadership. LSU's past stays tricky, but navigating these early hurdles could launch them right back into national contention.
