Kennedy Jr. and Carolyn Busset has sparked debate over its accuracy. One scene shows Kennedy losing control of his then-girlfriend Darryl Hannes-Doghank, who slips his leash and gets hit by a car. That tragic event really happened. In reality, Kennedy was walking Hank in Central Park, not Tribeca as depicted. The show changes the reason for the slip to a fan asking for an autograph, but his friend Sasha Sharmaev shared the true story in a biography. Sharmaev explained that Kennedy had the dog cremated and flew the ashes to Hannah in Los Angeles for burial. Unfortunately, that trip coincided with his mother Jackie's health, taking a sharp decline as she battled cancer. Kennedy felt deep resentment about being away for the dog's funeral.
