You are listening to DC on screen. All right. Welcome to DC on screen. I'm your host, David C. Robertson. And this, of course, Jason Goss. Hello. We're talking about Lantern's 105 lights out this time. I really enjoyed this episode. I thought it was a really action-heavy episode. The action-heavyest episode we've gotten so far. Easily. I felt like the Hal John fight. Really paid off the conflict that I've been growing over the last several episodes. Like, it was, man, I feel good to watch John beat the fuck out of Hal Jordan. You know? I just... Yeah. I hate seeing it. I hate seeing it. Not so much because how to deserve it, because Cady does a little bit. Although, I had some mixed emotions about everybody in this, at the end of the episode, which was fun. But there's a part of me that hated seeing it because like, I really liked their little friendship.
And I wanted this team to work. And I don't know where we're going to be in 2016 or not 2016, 2026 when it's, you know, he seems to be mourning over. It's passing. But I didn't like seeing it in the sense that like, ah, I like their being a team. Yeah. I like the hell of a fight. I liked the way they... I mean, look, there was... If you look, go back to the original comics. There was tension between them. You know, I... I'll say famously, but it wasn't famous because we're not famous. The show isn't a big deal. But... But sure to that, people who listen to the show know, I was like, I don't know, leading up to the show. I was like, I don't know if I can get into this version of Hal. He just seems like he's too much of an asshole. And that's not to say that he never was, because like I was... ...Multifogger's King of the Hill turns as I sit on Twitter just to a friend of mine. But... Of course. The thing about it is, is like, he was always kind of arrogant in the comics. And he was always like sort of, you know, smugly ignorant.
Like, a little bit of a... Just a bit of a straight-laser. Just enough where he's like, admonishing people for going against authority. But also going against authority himself when he felt like it was necessary. Like, there's nothing that's terribly out of the Hal Jordan wheelhouse in this show. He's just old and cranked up a notch. Yeah. Yeah. We're kind of... I think the effect of that, what seems to have changed, is that this is really the most fleshed out version of Hal Jordan you've ever actually just seen on the screen. I mean, by any stretch, this is the best and most fleshed out version. I mean, Hal, I don't care if you like 2011 or not, you've got more time with this guy now. Yeah. And if you thought that was a good Hal, and you know, let's not be revisionist, it was all right. But, yeah, like this version, you've got so much more... It's so much more dynamic. Like, it's going to look different and feel different. Mm-hmm. I think that's good. But, you know, if you've experienced, you know, the breadth of Green Lantern comics and of Hal Jordan in those comics,
I don't feel like it makes any sense to throw around the term character assassination. Yeah, it just doesn't fit here. Which I'm seeing everywhere. Yeah. That's not what this is. No, Hal is in so many ways, despicable. Yeah. He is awful. Like, the speech at the end does... He does a great job with it. It'll show up later and I'll end up like, verbatim quoting it or some shit when I'm excited later about some shit. But, he... When he's giving up the ring to get to the end of it, I guess, here. He gives Laura Lennie this whole fucking speech about, you know, a couple of times... You watched Hal betray... Talking about... Wait, what... You're talking about John. You were... John talking to Larlin. We had talked about... We were just talking about Hal a whole button and he said, he... It took me a second way ahead. Yeah. It was skipping way ahead of the episode. Yeah. So, he... And I was like, oh, let me... It took me a second, so I wanted to like catch the viewers up and be like, we're talking about John now. Yeah, that's fair. That's fair.
I was trying to say which name I had swapped up by your side. At the end, John talking to Larlin. He's giving this real dramatic moment, which again, fantastic fucking work. Great speech, great routing, great acting. And he does this whole fucking speech. But he's... He's citing. He's citing all the stuff that you should worry about with Hal. Like, he gave up this. He gave up this. He gave up piece of himself. Like, all the things he betrayed. And that list of things is all just par for the course. If you've ever seen like how... I mean, it doesn't even really have to be like, you've read every green line. Yeah. How going bad is, you know, a lot of the canon. It's not... It's like 15% of the green line in Laura's just how going off the charts and trying to kill everybody. I mean, whatever whatever the Laura is, you can grab on to. Oh, Parallax made him do it. Okay, well that's fine. But he still, you know, let that bit of... It's still named Hal. Right. Like, he still let that bit of fear in that allowed the Parallax Parasite.
What the fuck, you're claiming this is at this point? Is that... I've lost track. Motherfucker still killed the entire green larynchor and took all the rings. Yeah. Yeah. It is not outside of the realm. That's the picture you've seen with him just absolutely. Yeah. Linging like 20 fucking rings. Yeah, that's... Yeah, he goes... He goes way too far sometimes. Yeah. Like, this is a man who was qualified and spent years in the comics as specter. Yeah. Like, after he was killed. Yeah. I think it takes a certain amount of qualifications in your core personality to be considered for that job. Mm-hmm. Errogates among them. Like, do you think about it? Like, because specter's supposed to be the right hand of God, right? Well, the hand of vengeance. Yeah, yeah, that's true. Yeah, the vengeful hand of God, there was another way I've heard you describe it. It's like, it's the... But it's the literal hand of capital G God, the vengeance part, right? Right. It's such an old testimony kind of arrogance. You know, the leg I took, I brought you into this world, I can take you out kind of thing.
And then the specter does. He just goes... That's how he does his thing, man. He just hops into a storyline. Does his thing and bounces out. If you do not like it, that is not his fucking problem. Mm-hmm. Like, the... Is... QBAC, I think. But is... So the JLA of interest thing, I just read. Uh-huh. Have you run across that one? I'm aware that it exists, but I haven't read it. It was a fun read. I enjoyed it. There's... I did not like Superman the entire time because it was part of... Partly because it's during the run where he's kind of a jackass. You remember like in the 80s and 90s when he's just kind of a jackass every once in a while? Uh... That... Okay, for me, even in rebirth too, sometimes. I mean... Some writers just write him like cold and... Yeah, Chuck Austin basically wrote him as like a swaggering dip who just like... He was like... He really was like a fucking tick kind of character. He just... He's over here like thumping people in the fucking head, knocking them out. And just being kind of a blowhard a bit, you know? Yeah, you can tell when the writer just thinks he's kind of a lame OP boy scout because that's what they write him as.
Yeah. And it's one of these times. But anyway, it's... So I enjoyed the little run though. It's JLA and I've been... Actually, the Avengers part was a lot better written, a lot more fun in some ways. Their dialogue was a lot more fun than some of the JLA stuff. But I... That was during the run where I had a specter. And like, sure enough, it's JLA and Avengers facing off on some shit and it's of course this world ending. Bub, bub, bub, bub, bub, bub, bub, bub, bub, bub, bub, bub, bub, bub, bub. And then at some point it's... It's just too much even for all that. And who would you know steps in? And like... Yeah, he just... He does what he always does. He pops in, unilaterally solves the problem the way he sees fit and fucking bounces. Deal with the consequences guys. But that's the hell that I know? I mean, yeah, he's the rest. But like, God, yeah, he's... King of Hills, you said. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. And like I said, he was always arrogant, you know, even in like John's family, even in like John's first appearances, which was again very, you know, heavily reliant on race and culture and how's white ignorance.
I don't know where somebody's motherfuckers got this idea that like, you know, this show made John, you know, I don't know, white resistant or racist in some way. I mean, his literal first appearance is like, how is upset because John called him whitey. Like... He's like, what is he mid late 70s origin? Yeah, in 1977, I think. What kind of character do you think was written in as a strong black character in the late 70s? This guy. Yeah. Like, that's... That was the stereotype he wrote. Like, because it was either, you know, you either wrote these underfoot things. They're just, you know, either kind of actively or borderline racist in certain ways going back, but like, there's like every version of that. But like, there's a couple of tropes you hit really hard and like, one of them was just this fucking like, you remember the late 70s fucking, everything had to be as cool as shaft kind of situation. Like that was one of the huge stereotypes people could put in it. Yeah.
John Stewart got a lot of that. They wrote John Stewart the same way they wrote fucking, um, uh, power man, you know, Luke Cage. Yeah. They wrote the same way they wrote James Evans on good times. I mean, for this job, Turkey. Yeah. You know, um, it was, it was like a certain type of character in that era, but like, yeah, they all look like that's basically going to be, it's the same. Like, it's going to be the same kind of vibe in order where you look. I mean, thankfully he's not, you know, he's not doing all that in present day. But, you know, I don't know. I mean, well, that's the other part. It's like, it, it, that's why this is what's why we're watching a show with John Stewart in right now. It was the character evolved with the times. Like, because that was the 70s. When me and you got to know John Stewart, which come on, like, that was for the most part in, in our, like, in cartoon years. Like, cause, yeah, I mean, you've, you've probably read a few at that point, but like, John Stewart wasn't the most prominent fucking things in comics at that time in the early mid 90s. But in the mid 90s, when our generation for the most part got to know, it was going to
be Dayton Hutt girl. Yeah. Like, I, I read comics, I feel a more being a fucking badass. Yeah. Fill a more still, he's still the voice that I hear in my head, but damn, Rodious. You know, except for the fact where he's like, he says no to the fucking ring. And this is a pretty close interpretation of the, of the justice league animated shows. It really it. They even, and you know, we were all excited. We, we barely mentioned it, but it was, it was very exciting to actually see like, they pulled the fucking uniform out. Like, this show knows I wouldn't be surprised. We shall, some fucking filamar in a background cameo role if it was that kind of show. Yeah. I don't think this is, but when I love that John said no, I love that he rejected the ring. And I love it because it would just looking at everything this character has been through on the show so far, you know, he sees how desperate how is to keep the ring. And he said it himself. He doesn't even think how knows why he wants it anymore. And now I don't need it. Now I don't either. Yeah. But like the whole time he's like running through
war fucking torn wherever this is, Hicksville. I can't remember what's called. Rushville. Rushville. Yeah. Rushville. Like with sirens in the background and explosions and people. Legs off. Legs off. Oh, yeah. One did legs off at the end. Oh, right, right. Right. He's got his parents on the phone demanding to know like saying they fucking deserved to know was going like fuck you. Hang all the way up. I knew that was going to like resonate with you. I was like, Jason don't put it with shit from his nose. His parents. Not like that. Like that. No. Yeah. That was. We'll talk at a more appropriate time. Those are ridiculous. But yeah, I really enjoyed this episode. I hope John won't reject the ring forever. No, no, no. I think this is an absolutely perfect moment. I don't think we're going to stay with it. I think one of these people needs and is supposed to have that ring. I mean, that being said, we're definitely going to get got Garden next episode.
I assume. Oh, yeah. Because he's going to come in and be like, so, I heard you've all lost your rings. Yeah. Well, I mean, this is 2026. So I assumed the ring that they were fighting over was what guy has. Yes. So that I did wonder about that too. If that's where you landed was now that we're seeing that this is distributed through time and how this has gone down, you know, we've been working under the assumption that there were a bunch of rings out there. But now that it doesn't have to be the case. I have not been working under that assumption. We've been talking, I've been talking about like, you know, he checked, uh, hell's hand. There's no ring. There's no ring imprint either when he finds him dead. And we saw that he didn't have the ring on. And I said right out like, oh, it was because guy has a 2025 at least. I guess. Yeah. Now, how did you feel? I was thinking we had multiple rings. I mean, at some point they might say like we can do multiple rings. And they might, I mean, who, why wouldn't they be able to? It's just that it's such and it's, it's such a known thing inside the lantern lore that
for some reason the sector gets like 20 rings. Well, that's the thing though is like in the 70s, the re, like guy gardener was Hal Jordan's backup. Just in case something went wrong with Hal Jordan guy gardener was the trainee and then guy gardener got hurt. And that's the whole reason they, the gardener, the guardians had Hal go recruit John is because guy was going to be out of commission for like six months because each sector only had one protector. Yeah. Now, I know with multiples, but at this point they just all have simultaneous rings. Yeah. Yeah. Would you say that for like in the coming years? Yeah. Absolutely. Now, but like it's more interesting dramatically for there only to be one ring at least for a while. And at some point we've seen in the comics how like basically wield his own ring into existence. And of course when Kyle became Green Lantern, there weren't any fucking Green Lanterns. So he was the only one initially.
Yeah. You know, I'm just, I'm just now putting it together some of this though, but like imagine the same process, the recruitment process where they just pick you up in the middle of the night. If this happened to guy gardener, yeah, he's not going to be afraid. He probably assumed they wanted to have sex with him. Like, of course, he passed the test of flying. He is the epitome of this fucking white privilege bullshit they were talking about all the time. Like that he is the absolute perfect art form for it. Yeah. Yeah. They've set that up perfectly. I think it goes so many places with it because you know guy can still be, you know, get his yellow ring or become warrior, you know, like he doesn't have to be a Green Lantern. I saw shot him today in blue. I didn't know that was a thing for a second. Oh, yeah. You saw like a set picture. No, no, no, no. So guy gardener with a blue lantern uniform and some diali. It was a panel from something. I don't know what from what. Well, there was a point where he was in the comics.
He had a blue outfit. Yeah. Like a blue leather jacket and a, no, I mean, it was a blue lantern like for sure. Okay. It was, yeah, he had a whole, but I forget what the diali was though. It was in the panel, but it was in story. It seemed like, I haven't looked that one up at all. But there was especially during like the deaf John Gears man like, oh, everybody got it. Everybody got, oh, everybody got multiple. Yeah. It was a fucking rainbow set of rings, too. They were just like, oh, yeah, there he is in the blue. I had to look it up. But yeah, Kyle is in blue at certain times. Guy is a red lantern at certain times. Batman's yellow lantern at certain times with scary carol and shit. That would just like, there's a lot of them. They go through cycles. Kyle is also fucking white lantern at certain point. Yeah. And then that, all that was before God, the, and then the black lantern situation. And then we get the ultra violent lanterns that like, you don't know if you ever got around to the ultra violent lantern situation. I got around, are you talking about it? Yeah. Ooh. It was, it was a lot going on with that man. Yeah. Yeah. It was fun though. And I think it has stayed. There's still some ultraviolet.
Mm-hmm. Talk going about. I think it's one of those mechanisms that once it was in there, you couldn't completely get rid of it. Yeah. Once you start playing with spectrums and shit. Yeah. I want you to say, oh, there's a space between these spaces. Like none of the rest of the cannon can just ignore that. We're in it now. I wanted to click through a little bit because, you know, there's a couple of just my gods. And this was such, all right. So, early, I've seen a couple of people post something similar, but yeah, like my major take, the episode ended. And then about five or ten minutes later when I was just sort of, it was still in my head. Like the main takeaway was, God, that was not the fucking finale. Right. It, I was, it was action-packed. Yeah. It had two major finale traits. One, yeah. Oh, God. Action topped about. Fantastic. Just a tense episode all around payoffs everywhere. But that's the transition to the second part there. Payoffs everywhere. A lot of stories came and went. A lot of people came and went. Mm-hmm. Like we had some extra origin stories from people that hadn't had it yet that do now.
I mean, there's, it was, it was thrilling episode. Um, but yeah, like this, if this was the season finale, we'd have a lot of questions, but it would have function. Yeah. I'm okay with, I'm more than okay with having three more episodes. I'm excited. I'm pumped. No, but like, this felt like it minimally it was episode seven, which I think maybe the case based on a shot I saw earlier that I don't know if I didn't investigate it. Just moved on. But possible, this was maybe somewhere else in the production series in the production order. Mm-hmm. I don't know. I mean, this was, this was into the line kind of feels stuff, but the, like the, it comes in hot. Um, so Carrie, Kane, mm-hmm. She's running from Gotham. I didn't catch who these guys were where, which mom she was running from. Um, did you catch a name drop? Because I had a cool time to throw in like a thorn or something. Yeah. Um, I meant to look that up. She, but I, um, let's see. I'm looking at the dialogue now.
It says. Oh, that's funny. Running from her abuse of husband, Dean Kane. Oh, okay. That, where is that? Huh? Oh, if that, they would really, they genuinely would have built that into the show if that was real. That would be entirely worth it. Like even the mislead about Kane would be worth it. You know, I'm looking through though. I don't see, I don't see, um, I don't see where she's dropped in. What amount of time to throw in thorn or something since we did hector back in do they just a you know, it just seems like it was goods. Goons, ugly, floated him. Goons in some aspects out you did not last long, I loved that it'll back in fourth. I really liked how, how the way we get into the episode is also really kind of engaging. Mmm. I don't know. Sima paused situation like, it's a scene that if that, if that was the opening scene to another show, I would have watched this thinking, like when am I getting into This is okay, this is pretty good.
Yeah. Has nothing to do with landers. It's just a good scene. And then it gets very lanterny, very quick. Mm-hmm. Snap. Yeah. And then it took me a minute to realize even what he's been held down by, but yeah, yeah. Ooh. It's rough. And you can tell from her introduction where she's just hey, I'm Zoe. Like, they carry, could have picked a lot of towns to run to or through. And she happened to stumble into a place that is protected by the mother bear of all fucking mother bears. Mm-hmm. Like, this is, they wondered in way over their heads, these two poor fucking goods. The one guy, if he's a good enough liar, is gonna get to go on with his life. But yeah, a fantastic scene. It makes her cut off her own finger, the whole thing. By the way, love the character choice that she was like, no, it makes more sense. If I do it, yeah, I get that. A great character choice is, even Zoe's like, the matter of factness of how she's just describing it. Like, hey, I could kill him, but that's not really gonna solve her problems. Like, she's so fucking keen on just the math
of the situation. Like, she's walked up on this, she should have no idea what's going on, but it's just like, this is what she does. She knows people, she's a manhunter. She's an expert at our psychology. She's been studying this for quite some time. So she looks at this cat and mouse game and she knows it immediately what she's looking at and just goes right into taking advantage of it. It's so fucking, this is routine for her. Yeah. Now, I easily in love with the manhunter though. Like, into the scene, now I was like, God, I just fucking love this character. You think she's actually dead? Yeah, yeah, 100%. Okay. I mean, he pulled up the heart. Yeah, we got to crystal heart and everything. I genuinely think that was the end of the, I guess if they have this right, that was the end of all of the manhunter's in the DCU. Oh, no, man. I said, if they have this right. All right, so what do you think is the possibility that you remember she says to her grandson, don't forget all the things that taught you. Do you think Hal's corpse in 2026
was created with that new technology? I'm sure they have his DNA somewhere. I think that corpse was created by that alien technology by her grandson to lure out the man who killed his grandmother. That's not bad. That's not bad. And it does, all right, thinking about that, the other character that we still have in the mix and one that I just saw holding the gun was Jason Ritter. He made care. He made. I think he made it. That's his parents, right? I got the feeling that she was not his mother. Stepmom? Yeah. Mm-hmm. Well, all right, so he's close enough though that he's going to feel a sense of loss either way. So I'd already wondered about the kid though, because God, they even give that kid a scene and you know, it was a pretty good job. That's the only reason I think it's going to be him because she says explicitly to him. Remember everything and all that. Don't forget everything I taught you. Yeah, and that could just be a thing you say, but you're right, that could be loaded. I mean, something's going on in the future. Yeah. But now I'm thinking both of those dudes.
So the young dude and then, again, I don't remember Jason Ritter's character's name right now. Yeah, me. Last I saw him, he was on the ranch and trying to kind of talk everybody into like, maybe we should just get out of here and he's sitting there with a gun. Mm-hmm. I don't know what happened to him during the ranch battle. I don't remember him dying. Right. They certainly didn't give him an out. They didn't tell us what, right now, I don't know what the fuck happened to him at the end of this episode. He could be a livid dead. Yeah, but he's, he's married to the sheriff. And there were a lot of marriages, Rocky. It is, but that's what we were told, the solid though. It is, but you know, they don't make it seem like it's on death's door necessarily. Like how could probably have slipped in there? If this was a more of a rom-com situation than I think by episode four or five, they would have probably been hooking up. I think it'll come out that he is currently. Hoking up with her? Yeah. I think Carrie is with Hal. And she knows that they ain't Hal. Oh, yeah, that'll be funny. I think they will in the, in the remaining years, between like what, 2016 and 26 at least. Yeah.
Yeah. Yeah. As I'm just not, you know, look, I've seen some people be like, oh, you're just just for the ring thing. Not, not for me, not to me. Cause I don't really talk about it online too much, but you know, when people say, I don't think that's Hal. Like people are like, oh, you are so desperate. Hold on to this old racist man. No, I don't, well, I don't think he's racist. I think he's an asshole. And he says certain things to upset people. He, all right. So there's another line. And this is perfect. Cause I think this is going to go a long way to describing how Lindlow thinks. There's a line in Watchmen where, and again, please do. Oh. There is a character, you know, however, he kind of has a gimmick in Watchmen universe. This guy's gimmick is that he puts on this mask and it's kind of a mirror. Mm hmm. It's, it's, it took him while to get the surface right and all that. And like he, he, he's it being like, God, just thinking about this guy makes me want to go to rewatch the series. He, you fall in love with this character. He's a wank. He's, um, so he's, he's kind of the nerd, but you can tell there's something weird about him.
But anyway, he also has, his gimmick is that he kind of is good at getting in your head. And he, he plays this well. He even has this kind of device. It's, uh, he puts you in this thing. And it basically is this implicit racism tester where he puts you in this thing. He shows you about images and it, they're basically doing like a big stylized version of the old, they're, the actual implicit racism test is like you, you basically put a bunch of images out and you, the subject isn't supposed to know why they're grading all the images. And then you kind of grade them and you realize that like behind one layer, there's another layer and basically like dark people got lower scores. Mm hmm. It's gonna roughly work that way. So you, that's roughly the ground that he's working on. But he's got this big tester. So this guy though is part of like, we're gonna just roughly call out the good guys and the bad guys, but it's very much a white supremacy story in Watchmen. And like, there's a few stories, but one of them is very much in the present time. It's a white supremacy takeover. They're trying to like abduct Dr. Manhattan so they can use his powers to kind of re-correct the world and the white power image. Which, hell of a scheme, you know?
Yeah. But they're trying to do all that. This guy is on the other side of that. So he's basically like, there's a lot of back and forth in town because everyone's wearing masks. You can't really tell like who's on what side under the mask so you're trying to do a lot of investigation. His job part of it is to go do all that. He has all these things. All this to say, there's a line where the investigator, the FBI comes to town. It's actually like it's what's their name, Saturn, older version of her. Yeah. But she comes back to town and she's asking these questions and he like, throughout the series, you can tell he's one of the good guys for like everything's gray and I'll end it off, especially a watchman universe, but he's one of the good guys. And like she says to him straight up, are you racist? And cause I forget how it comes up in the episode, but there's cause to just ask him point blank, are you racist? And he says, and it's with all the draw on the world, you know, and he says like, well, man, you know, I'm a, what, it says like I'm a mid 50s white male
from Tulsa, home, a surely high harbor, a couple of feelings, but they're not a bit more present. None of them are the, are the, are the, how's he phrased that? He's like, but he phrased it as like, none of that's the most present part of my mind, of course. I'm not actively racist, but he, but he catches it and I'm a white dude from, from Tulsa. Of course, I've got some racism in me. And like the most, the most knowledgeable character in watchman's universe is directly asked about the question and the writers have him say that. Point being, that's how these writers really do feel about race. I didn't matter, I don't know what's going on. It's just, there's implicit biases and all of these, all the characters. And they are going to be writing their white characters with basically that in mind. Yeah. So that is the length through which I think you need to look at how. Mm-hmm. I haven't thought about him until, but yeah, that character from watchman is basically gonna be, they're borrowing that from this. Or borrowing this from that? They're there from this from that, yeah. Yeah. That makes sense. I think, I think most forward thinking people, period of any race, should be able to recognize,
and admit that there are certain prejudices, period. Like you and I worked with some black guys who absolutely hated some Korean guys. Like I was just like Jesus Christ. You know, it's like that kind of thing. We're just like, you know, in growing up in Montgomery, like we would go down to the food world or whatever. And there were black guys years who would just talk shit all day long about Mexicans coming in. They hated them. And it's just, you know. That's a little bit of a trouble though. I think there's just cultural differences that, and you know, it lived experiences where people were getting their heads about certain things, whether they're right or wrong, about certain stereotypes. Yeah. I mean, you know, stereotypes are that way for a reason, but it's not a reason to hate them on the fucker, Jesus Christ. Yeah. I have the, in my experience, I've learned that basically, if you get around any kind of group long enough and let them get comfortable around you, that group will eventually do something or say something where you have to be like, what, what, hey? And like, I, you know, I hear a lot of it
because like I look like a, I just look like a Southern white dude. And so, Southern white dude say things to me that they think they can say to other Southern white dudes. So I've had a lot of like, dude, no. Or just, you know, I've had a lot of those in my lifetime where you just have to tell somebody like, nah, no, what's good, good fuck away. But you've, but I've also had situations like that where I've just been around like, because I mean, you've come out of more food shifts than the average bear. So like, I've just, I've just, I've seen, and you know, the clicks form and all these things. I've just, I've just been in groups that were, like eventually you're just like, you just hear somebody say like something where you're like, man, man, and one of these groups doesn't like the other groups. Yeah. And what's funny is like, I could say that like that, that's the case, but like, there's a, it's almost like you could be like, well, what are the white people not saying? Like, no, no, no, you need to take the background radiation is that the whole time I have white people telling me shit that I'm not proud of the entire fucking, that's background radiation. I'm just talking about a couple of, that we need to take that for rent. But the rest of us, the other stuff I'm talking about.
I'm not happy about anything the white people are saying to me right now, but yeah, there's a soon that's there. I was just talking about a couple of other instances while we're, but we live in Alabama as well. So that's yeah. And some small towns within it. Mm-hmm. But the, so this one though, so getting onto another major point, like look, I can almost go beat for beat because this one was worth it, and it's a hell of an narrative. Like, God, it's, this is a fast 45 minutes man. There's almost, if I just go click on a scene, there's almost like a question I could ask you at H1. Like, do you, he even brings it up later with when he's on the phone with us, I'm gonna use your phrase, hell hacking parents. Like, yeah. Yeah. Well, he, he's sitting there doing his best to try to describe to them while he's Ramboin up this fucking gun and all that. Like, even then he's describing his day and he's like, I don't think how necessarily meant for me to die, but that's what was gonna happen. Yeah. Where do you think?
Like, cause to me it's a little bit weird. Like, the logistics of trapping somebody in the car just enough to not completely injure him, but also to hold them hostage or that's impossible movie logic. Mm-hmm. But I'll leave him that. Let's leave that on the table and not worry about that. We'll suspend this belief for that. But then, but it does. Like, since they brought it up in the episode, now I can legally ask. I think of how meant for him to die he would have aimed it directly at him instead of the center of the car. And he also apologized about the rental, which was in John's name. So, you know, if he thought John was gonna die, he probably wouldn't apologize about the rental. He did specifically just say to John, I just need you off the board. Yeah, he does. I don't think he meant for him to die. So it's, it's at all. I think the question's gonna be more like, did we really, did he really not think about whether the car could just explode before John got out of it? I mean, that may have been a miscalculation on, on house part. I think so. I'm wondering if the show wants me to calculate that as part of him losing touch. But also, was it going to explode
or did Zoe cause it to? And possibly, yeah. She could have just had one of those fucking satellites, beam a laser into the car to ignite something. Oh, you know, it would be funny if, if he talks to how later about it and how's like, well, I thought somebody would come by and say, if you'd like, been like an hour. I mean, I just need you off the board for like, a couple hours, I figured, and then he's like, well, yeah, the person that came by was Zoe and she fucking let me burn. Well, how was I supposed to do that? Yeah. But even then, Zoe didn't just wonder by, she was told. No, yeah, she went there on, she went there with the, with the truck. They tracked him. They tracked that vehicle to, to where he was. And, you know, that was another question I had for you. How did you, how did you find yourself with John at the end of the episode? I don't know to me. Well, in what capacity? There's a lot of hill turning. I mean, it's not just that, like, there's a part of me that didn't like John as much at the end of this episode. And I say that knowing that that's where I'm supposed to be right now is that I've seen John make a couple of decisions that I'm supposed to think are a little bit fucked up. Mm-hmm.
So I think we're very much in pocket here. But like, yeah, there's Billy. Billy, come on. Yeah, he's just, he's just never the gun. Yeah, it's playing in the background here. Yeah, I don't know what the fuck Billy's doing. Jason, Jason Ritter's character that, he's all geared up. He's got his gun, but he just wants to fucking get out of there and get safe. Like, mm-hmm. Yeah, I don't blame him. I feel like John did what he had to do. Like, John recognized exactly what, so he was doing. Yeah. I mean, he went by and got that gun because he knew exactly what he was going to do. He did. And she realized it a little too late, but she also kind of, I feel like, knew something might go down. That's why she talked to that kid. Well, that's on the way with us. Like, he says something's bad going to happen and yeah, and like a lot of people are going to hurt people. You know some you love all that. Like, it's a very, and then he's like, are you going to die? We'll see. We'll see. Like, she's not trying to, but she knows this is, but so that's my point. There's no, there are no heroes at the end of this episode. Like, you see, carries, you know, even the sheriff,
who I would say is probably the cleanest, maybe out of the lot. Rather than say like, Megan, who'd like, I don't know, man, he, he just seems to have been given some extra time, made a deal for it, honored his side of the day. I don't know, I don't have a problem with Megan's character here. He, he died good, so they'd say, right? I liked that Anton recognized it though, recognized what he, he's, ah, I was you, I was you. Mm-hmm. Well, let me, let's see that heart. Just to make sure. Yeah. Yeah. Get away to it. Get away to the least done with it. Yeah. Yeah. Give him like 45 seconds. You, you, that was a, that was a solid throw with that dagger, man, you can just wait like 30 seconds. He's gonna, he's gonna bleed out. Yeah. No, he's still like, you fucked my wife. Yeah, a little bit. Which is funny, because, man, I like that. For as much bullshit as Megan gave John. Yeah, he's, yeah, he's been on the receiving into that ill time too, yeah. Yeah. The giving end, I don't know how you, it's really just a matter of how you classify that where you're setting up the time. So with, with, with all of them though,
with John though, you have like, there's honorable things, but there's, there's also moments where, God, man, I'd like, I know. It, I hate seeing him actually do his part of it, at least to destroy like, come on, I wanted the, I wanted the lanterns team. But, like, he's the one where like, I felt a little bit bad because like, it's, he's killing, he's literally killing the relationships that we've watched the show build so far. Like, we kind of like Zoe now. Yeah. And he has, he has to put her down. And tearfully so, like literally, he has a tear, it's a great fucking line. I see you. It was fucking, oh, God, it was good. It was so good. And then the look on her face, fucking, they crushed this, the acting here. Mm-hmm. Agreed. Just gorgeous. But, I ended up, but like, but I'm not liking John in that moment, because like, God, like, did you have to actually kill her though? But like, yeah, I think you did. Yeah. Like, I don't love it. And then even then, like, did you have to be the, fuck out of hell and take his ring? Because like, it's, it's kind of desperate. Like that, that, that, it didn't, I didn't like it.
Like, it's a thing where like, he's clenching. Like, he's down there, he's beaten. And he's like, clenching his fucking fist, trying to hold on. It's just this, it's so kind of pathetic, you know? Mm-hmm. That it just, yeah. Like, there's a party that's like, down it. But, again, that's what I'm supposed to be. We're supposed to watch them go through this bullshit. But that's why, there's no one here. And then he sits there and describes beautifully how way off base how is it at this point? And how has been the entire series? Like, it's not even hill turn this episode. How has been setting up roughly this scenario five episodes? Mm-hmm. He hasn't betrayed anyone. His ambitions were always there, you know? Yeah. And that's why I like John Morris because he, he did beat the shit out of him. And he did do it. So because he needed the ring. And he realized that there's an emptiness in it. And there's something pathetic about all of this. Yeah. I think he thought it lowered him. The whole thing. It did, it absolutely did. It's in the same way. It's great. His same way of life. Yeah. Like, he's dead right. And like, he does.
He walks away from, at the end of the episode when he puts the ring down. Like, all right, so that's another part. Is I didn't like him when he's going through with it because he's objecting the whole time saying, it's not right to make me do this. And he's absolutely right. They should not be making him take that ring. It is more like objectionable to put it mildly. But, and problematic. Like, you can't, it's like one of those relationships where again, getting back into the law, this kind of crap. It's like the relationships at Stark while you're with cheating. Like, they just more often than even normal relationships don't work out because, you know, all the things. Like, this isn't too far from it. Like, I don't know, I thought John very much did what he had to do. And I'm like, his walking way at the end made me feel a lot better because he does. He, he moral high grounds the entire fucking show on the way out of the scene or at the episode. Yeah. God, I didn't like him for a second there. I really just hated watching him. And the one is fault. I just hated watching all of this fall apart. Oh, one thing I started to try to say. And then we moved off because we got sucked
into the race conversation again. As I keep seeing, like, I really don't want this to be how at the end of this thing did. And, you know, there, I've seen a lot of people talking to other people about like, you know, I don't want to, this, y'all trying to hold onto this old racist white man. But I don't want him to, I might look, I don't want him to be dead. I don't think he's dead. But at the same time, if he does, like he can still come back as the specter. So I'm not that worried about it. It's just Kyle Chandler's doing a really fucking good job with the character. Yeah. Yeah. I want to see more of that. And I want to see more of their back and forth training. Yeah. Honestly, I just, I want there to be like a whole league of fucking earth lanterns running around as well. Yeah. Honestly. Yeah. They're, I mean, they're, they're crushing it on screen. Like the reason I want them to stick around is because like, I've enjoyed the episodes that I've seen. And I kind of don't like the idea that we're not going to get any more of it. So it's simple. Now, that being said, it's, we're only promised one season right now. I know, like you said, they're, they're working on season two and there's a lot of stuff in the works. But until it's a guarantee, it's not a guarantee, man.
Like, right. I'm not, I'm not, I'm not resting on that. Even if they're renewed for season two, I'm like, hmm, which they haven't been yet. But I'm like, hmm, I don't, I've seen too many people, too many of these streaming platforms cancel their season two. Come and go now. Yeah. Like a green light is not what it used to be. It's not. It's not. So we'd have to, we'd have to see. Um, so there's always back story, fucking fantastic. Mm-hmm. Pretty much everything about, they're, they're really, there isn't a misbeat in the entire episode in my opinion, but there's certainly not in her part of the story, phenomenal front to back. Yeah. And including all the betrayals, like she, she could have just saved John. Mm-hmm. Like, didn't have to do it that way, but she, she did. And it was manipulative. Like, that's the thing about the, the man hunter that, I mean, I, like, I want to like her, partly because the actress is so compelling, but also they've written this character in a way where like you, the character, they made the man hunter kind of do to us the viewer, what it's doing to the characters in the show.
Mm-hmm. It very much is like, I want her to stick around, I want to know more about her, I don't want my time with her to end, but it very much should. Like, probably, it's not just that she's bad for the town. Like, because she is, when she's good, she's good for the town, but she didn't hesitate to kill half of it, just to prove a point and make a distraction. Mm-hmm. It, if it, I mean, those people were all there living as comfortably as she could kind of, like you, like she can't go run New York City, there is a limit to how much a man hunter could keep its head down. And like, this is a small town situation for a reason. Mm-hmm. This is the most she can provide for. You're not gonna really like go outside of that, but like, kind of watching Anton right now, about to wreck this thing up. It's, it's about to get rough as we go. But like, yeah, she didn't hesitate to kill half the town, just when it came down to it, it was her versus them, all the protection of the world, and all those deals didn't matter. Mm-hmm. She made a bunch of orphans happen. Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm. And by the way, I love the direction,
the visual storytelling of the entire show. Like, the directing was very, very good. Mm-hmm. I feel like lots of mysteries got answers. I feel like, you know, it all sort of culminated in this like episode of Consequences, and I have been very pleased with the pacing of the show. That's far. I have seen people complain that it was slow. I'm not at the same mind. I think this is the right pace. Mm-hmm. And, you know, at this point, we're like, who are we looking at? Like, we've still got, we've still got John, we've still got Carrie, we've got a manhunter grandson, Ritter. Yeah. And Dead-Hall. And a Dead-Hall. We don't have an Anton. We don't have an Anton so far as we know. Like, all those motherfuckers blew up. Or any of their team, really. And, by the way, man, that was a funny kind of death. Yeah, the tornado funnel.
Yeah. Like, it fits the show, I think. Well, like, we've, it's a character that we spent a good, a good, a lot of grubby toss. It, in the scenes, really killed it for like, two big scenes that he's had, three, if you can kind of include the, like, the whole actual ranch, you know, storming the ranch or whatever. Uh-huh. But yeah, the last thing you see is just him coming up there and then like, the look on his face of like, ah, fuck. And yeah, as far as he knows, all of this, the entire series, all of this self-importance wasted. As far as he's concerned, he died, bailed. Mm-hmm. Like, I guess it would comfort him to know that someone took care of the problem less than an hour or so later. But yeah, he, he just, just the look on his face of, I'm never gonna get to accomplish my life's goal and death. Mm-hmm. Same thing for the show somehow, for like, some kind of character's ending. Which by the way, and what's going on during that? Or do you think of it the, uh, the kind of goggle fight situation? Oh, the, uh, the darkness?
Yeah. I mean, it was well directed. I, that's kind of when I was hitting it when I was talking about the, the really good direction and visual storytelling because, yeah. I have to me, there's not a lot to say about that. It was like top notch choreography. It looked really cool. You know, that's about it for me. I don't know. I don't know. It, by the way, like, you, you kind of want to go full throttle with something like that and, you know, wish it was like, the shades, shaders, I'm shit. Yeah. It's not gonna be that fun. It's gonna be normal. It is kind of a funny way to, like, I think that scene was cheaper than they're letting on. Yeah. Like, you're kind of, I don't know, man. I think that's a pretty cheap scene to shoot. Like, that's a really cool, I don't know, I think a pretty clever way. This looks like a lot. It serves a really cool action plot point. It takes you out of the show in a way that was kind of fun. Mm-hmm. Like, it's a cool beat in the show. It does a lot of storytelling too, but I think secretly, you get away with a lot. Well, I think they can use this as the shade for later on down the road. Like, someone got a hold of some of those weapons.
Yeah, easily. Oh, I flipped the head. So yeah, I'm about to see this guy. Like, he's just all that, all that, and just gone. Psh, blown. Yeah. I mean, I just imagine his last words were, BAAA, you know. Yeah. And then by the way, he gets back there, and she's ripped her fucking arm off. She's going to go make another one, I guess. But speaking of making another one. Um, I didn't actually think they were going to show a stick, but man. Oh, John? Yeah. Yeah. Yeah, that was the most I've seen about this episode specifically on line. There's people being mad that they didn't go ahead and that one, that one metal piece didn't come up. That one metal guard strap thingy was malfunctioning and didn't slide away like it's others. Uh-huh. Well, bastard. They were, oh, y'all are so thirsty assholes. They were some big fill. I mean, look, it's, I don't even know if it's that thirsty. It did that, like that's not even stretching. They've just, they've been showing you this dude for weeks.
He's half the discourse online is how pretty he is. And then they show you a scene where they just walk him down. He's getting naked the whole time. And like at some point, you're like, oh, they're probably going to, oh, okay. No, that's funny. That's really funny. Mm-hmm. Yeah. That one cracked me up, man. Cause like it's, it's got to be a little bit like, um, I don't know, I think I've seen this on the mail side a lot of times that we're like, somebody's, you're not, it's not a scene where you're expecting boobs to appear. And then for some reason, somebody's undressing. No. We're getting boobs in the same, hmm. Just the amount of people that wanted to see John Sturers dick. I'm like, giving new definition to hung lantern, y'all. They, they wanted it hung. Oh, it skipped the head to the fight. And by the way, I get a great, great, five choreography. Fucking great, great choreography. I'm kicking him through at the end. The, the, the punches, the, the great, those pauses where he's deciding, am I going to punch this guy again one more time, all that? One of my favorite bits though.
My favorite bit is how's the whole doll thing. How's just trying not to lose, but he punches him like in the thigh. And it's like a, what do you call that thing? Um, dick. No, I don't know if he's that hung. Oh, I thought he was the lower thigh. It was like almost the knee. Um, what's that like a Charlie horse? I think it was a Charlie horse on this situation. Is that what you call it? Where you like, you know, stupid thing where you like raise one knuckle slightly more. And you like pop somebody right near a muscle and it hurts extra, it, like, it hurts a lot more. You ever, I don't know what that's called. I know that it's called a thing. Charlie horses. I think it's like a potassium thing in it. Yeah. Yeah. Um, whatever that cruel thing that 10 year olds, 10 year old boys do to each other or one of the cruel things that didn't go boys to each other. I feel like it's racist, whatever it is. So racist turn probably. That would fit. But it, it looked like it was so dirty and down to earth that it made me laugh.
It's such a just fucking how kind of move. Like, I got nothing. I punched a student inside of a style. Fuck it. It worked. It really did work. Like it does actually look effective. Like he kind of punched in there and kind of inside of the needle a little bit like that kind of looks like it might actually have fucked him up a little bit and all that. Yeah. Any of the way I've been tracking this thing the whole time and like, yep, there's still a little hole in that jacket. No continuity errors here. Oh, is it a frog punch? Frog punch. Yes. God, I fucking hate those things. Yeah. With your middle knuckles sticking out. Yeah. Much of dicks. Oh, it does say specifically middle knuckles sticking out and aiming for tender thigh spots. People used to call it a dead leg or a dead arm. Dead leg. Yeah. Yeah. I've seen that one too. Yeah, he dead legs though. That's the phrase I'd use. Yeah, he fucking dead legs in the middle of the fight. Like, that's effective. Uh huh. I just got to the end of that fight. Like, it's the way like beating down, man. He, you got to get him like, how's, how's good as an investigator? He really is. His hunters are good. His guts good. Like, you get why he's actually good at this job.
Yeah, he's not fit for it. And he's doing his best and he shouldn't have been sure all that. But he's doing a serviceable job because his guts good. And like, yeah, sure enough, he sits there and explains at the end of this conversation. Like, can cussed as he surely is. Like, I can't imagine why he would have killed me, but I know this guy. And this is like, he's still got a lot of respect for the guy that just put him on the ground by the way because he's talking about how much integrity he has in the, as part of his deduction, you know? Mm-hmm. And then yeah, sure enough, my gut, mate. And like, oh man, again, the acting, like the, the look on her face, the way her face drops with the immediate realization that there's no way he's wrong. Mm-hmm. So fucking good. God, it was good television. Yeah. Run around his, what, the scrubs, I guess the whole time. Barefoot, like fucking John McLean running through the glass. Yeah. Somebody pointed out he looks like the last night on Earth. There's a, especially there's a, there's a very famous image of that where it's like the, it's Batman in the, in a straight jacket or a broken straight jacket run around
with the Joker's head in a jar. Mm-hmm. You remember that one? Yeah. I don't remember what happened in that story at all. I've got the graphic novel downstairs and I have the toy sitting right here working. I'm looking at it. Oh yeah. God, it was a hell of a visual. Like God, man, he's like this little girl like that, that family is broken. He's given the watch, picks up his bag, says I'm sorry and moves on. Mm-hmm. And like this is part of where I started to be like God, I know like we're, I'm having to watch John make some fucked up decision right now is, is what's happening. And like it's not pretty, but yeah, he empties out of sack and, and goes in there and he, he, deals with Zoe and then he like fucking goes and rips the fucking ring off his finger. With the little girl crying about her dead dad outside. I mean, he didn't kill the dad. No, I'm just saying like he's part of the war, man. It's just part of the consequences. But it was, it was weird to watch the, um, weird to watch it. Now, um, it hit me after that. Yeah, of course that's how God gets here. Mm-hmm.
It's a bunch of space lasers and the supergames is going to go try to, or whatever that is at this stage is going to wonder what the fuck all the space lasers were about. Yeah. I don't know what exact year we're in, but, uh, this version of Maxwell Lord seems like he was probably doing some version of putting things together before that. I mean, and, yeah, it must have been by the way, because we saw there was a whole time on in the, in, um, in kind of the still frames. Mm-hmm. And the back of the, the, I don't know, the, um, hall of justice. We're gonna hope it's called. Mm-hmm. Can't remember if they actually referred to it as that or if it just looked a lot like it. I think so. But, you know, I just read a thing James Gunn was talking about. We've talked about it before where someone was talking about asking James like, oh, how are the Guardians supposed to be feeling about Guy Gardener being, you know, working for an evil genius? And he was like, all right. So when did I ever say Maxwell Lord was evil? He's a deeply complex, complicated character. He's, you know, way more intricate.
And that's the version I prefer from the J.L.I. story line before they sort of read the condom into this mastermind of evil. So big, gray scale character here with Maxwell Lord in this version. Yeah. James Gunn does not consider him to be evil. Yeah. I mean, that's fair though. There's multiple versions of any of them. Mm-hmm. I saw that somewhere. Yeah, he kind of points out the, um, you know, uh, DCU is not gonna be, uh, carbon copy of this and all that, which is fair, but also should just be par for the course. Any reasonable person. Well, we're not dealing with reasonable people. Not always, unfortunately. No, some internet nut jobs are still don't get it. Yeah. Like, which I'm watching the scene where there's a, it's post war or it's post this thing. And the sheriff has to come in and tell everyone to stand down and stop pointing their guns at John and it looks like a bunch of the internet people you're talking about. Yeah. Probably. All right. What else you got, man? Um, I don't know.
I think that might, that might be, I think that might be out for me. Yeah. I didn't, uh, I don't know if I watched the next, uh, next week thing. Oh. All right. Sing a shout at the head. So shoot. All right. So we are actually going to be back in the future. Yeah. It looks like a straight up 2026. And I think that might have been Jason Ritter that John just punched out. Might have been. Had his, uh, had his, what am I going to call it? Um, overworked mustache. Mm-hmm. Uh, we got, yeah, I think that is him. I think that I'm pretty sure. Jason Ritter has one of those faces that's so kind of generic. I don't know if that, that, that might be very insulting. I don't know. I don't mean it in a bad way. But Jason Ritter looks like, uh, the dude that played Cyclops. James Marsters or a little bit. Yeah, yeah, yeah, he does, you know, it's all so pretty. He just looks like so many wide dudes. Yeah. That like, I'm looking at him right now, I think, and I cannot tell for sure. I like every once in a while, I'm like, oh, look, this is dad. And then like the rest of them, I'm like, oh, it's the guy that played Cyclops. Yeah.
Slash the harbinger for Alim, it be old being bad. Yeah. Which it was never actually bad. It was just like, oh, you're one of the new guys. That means that we're in a later season that I'm not as great as interested in, you know. Yeah, these are, these are tropes that we're not going to be able to deal in as much. But yeah, the season, the new guy in season five are the cousin in season four or whatever is a type of thing. Who does in the history of television? Man, I don't, I think I'm, I think I'm out. I think I'm out of it. I am fucking loved this episode. Yeah, that was a really solid episode. If I talked about any of those scenes in particular, just be me going on and on about how I felt the acting was great. Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm. I like the idea of the Century Protocol and how like, whatever he does, he's like, is he's cut off like the fucking face place of his ring or like a sliver of his ring. So that this, the hologram can like hang out and feed him updates and shit. I don't know. I have two theories about the, the function there.
Um, I don't know. So he, he, he, he pulls out a knife and chips at it. Yeah. So I, I don't know if he's like chipping away a piece of the ring and he has to do that to, to get the, what does he call it, Century Protocol or whatever? Mm-hmm. Sounds so fucking next, man, though. That's not a good thing. Um, but like, I don't know if he has to actually like damage the ring a little bit like he was fucking starting a wood fire with a flip rock. Because that's what he looks like he's doing or because the, the, that, how pops out and says like, well, about time or whatever, like he hasn't done this in forever. And it almost like, pardon me, wondered if that was like something he'd put on the ring so that that function would not be available and he chips it off real quick. Like, all right, well, it's like almost something he'd welded on there, some shit that like, so he couldn't accidentally activate the little fucking howl inside and get himself in the ring. And then he'd just throw that in there and then he'd do something else, like a thing like, you know, like, literally, that's like a thing that I can't really do. It's like, I don't know, I'm just, I'm just, I don't know. I just think he was using it as a, you know, to stand guard and give him updates, but it was not lost on me that this motherfucker just cut off the last decent part of himself from way back.
Or how's like, I like that John guy. Where's he at? What are we doing? Yeah. Never mind him. That was the rookie. Oh, by the way, one shot that I did really right before the town starts to blow up Is just howled out there kind of pointing at the sky with Middle finger up, ring finger up come and give me and then people started dying. Yeah Yeah, and I'm as as I've seen more and more shots to I'm also Huge fan of the flying shots in the fucking show. Oh, yeah They're done a really good job with that great job the way he lands in front of that car is fantastic the takeoff there When he's a fucking land or fucking man hunter whatever it takes off to that to get the whatever those stupid little Laser satellites are fantastic. Anyway, yeah, we just made me read done at least talking about much alike all these scenes now I genuinely though for like for what it's left in three episodes like I know we got to investigate his death. It looks like that's gonna be What we're focusing on next episode is is 2026 how with the bulletin's brain?
Mm-hmm or at least a hole Well, they're doing a whole last all talks. Yeah, yeah We're doing that there's gonna be a little bit of confronting people around town if that is Jason Ritter than I He turns on the lantern light that's in like the downtown area Which presumably would have gotten guys attention maybe I guess that's what he's trying to do I take it the town's focus Still not very happy about any lantern bullshit, so they just want to go beat up this dude I'm guessing that's the turn we're going for maybe and then because it looks like he gets beat up by a bunch of yokels It might be might be which I just like if if you knew that a lantern came to town and then like half your town was blown up on Main Street and a bunch of people were orphans like yeah, I don't want to fucking lantern I don't want to ever see a lantern in my town ever again to get the fuck out Mm-hmm get that I mean I think if there was one part This episode that was flimsy was that I'm not sure I'm not sure as always planned is like It's a it's got a bit of a Nolan ring to it. I'm like how does she know that like she's got me
I guess she's going there's a sort of amount of risk that has to come along with it But you know burning him and saving him to get his loyalty. She's already had sex with him So she's got that amount of loyalty she thinks she needs him to really over that's actually true though Most of people in town probably the most important players in the town She needs them to literally owe her their lives. Yeah, mm-hmm. Like she's doing that on purpose She needs John to die or get close to have almost died God the way swoops in and fucking takes her hostage so fucking good God they did a good job with that flight. Mm-hmm. I'm so proud of these people But even then is like you know she didn't she wasn't sure that it was gonna work as far as she wasn't certain with the kid Which he's like we'll see yeah, it's just good episode fuck it is anyway. I'm really looking for the next week Yeah, I don't I that's what I'm saying next week. I know we're gonna investigate but then I don't know what that Lease for week seven and eight. I have no idea I genuinely don't know what we're gonna fill our time with for three hours right now I mean other than I'm sure whatever the investigation on covers
But I guess that's my point is I do think that they are saving sort of a major storybeat for the last three episodes Mm-hmm Like something something in here a stone that we realized wasn't ever Wasn't turned over yet or whatever the hell but like something in this that either hasn't been introduced yet Or was introduced but we have not realized the scope of it. Mm-hmm But we got to feel three episodes something something major is happening. I mean, I am not that worried about it I'm not that concerned. I'm not concerned. I'm just saying I'm excited really actually. Yeah, yeah, you know There was a similar thing they did in better call Saul for that entire series We're like we basically opened post-breaking bad because the whole show was supposed to be like a prequel to breaking bad But we open post breaking bad and we see where he's at now and As we you know, we go through whatever it's his five six seasons We wrap the story and I think most like the last half of that last season is Nothing but post-breaking bad and I was like, I don't know what they're gonna do for this
But I found out Jesus God Mm-hmm. It was so good I like that premise. I mean breaking bad in summer there where you see him the opening scene is late in the series Hmm, like it opens with him well into having broken bad. Yeah, the underwear and all that like the Yeah, they like to do jump forwards for sure. It's a little bit of like a Show yeah, you get here That really last thing truly is Less cute thing I guess He takes off in this helicopter. I realized after that scene was done when he does all the fighting in the shade It's so frenetic, right? You're just gonna see how yeah He's just doing a lot of and it's quick and then he gets in the chopper and like you're kind of because of the way It's done you're sort of struggling to figure out what the action is a little bit But he dies he gets in the chopper he gets out and he lands over there at the motel I had two things occurred to me and and they just hit me the same as I watched it just now and yeah One was man house house still got it like that that was a
ferocious battle and he used a lot of resource like if we're talking about like you know Justice league or status here. He used the environment to his like to his benefit He didn't really he didn't really miss a beat as far as like a Major weakness comes spilling out of that water water tower one they had planned for it by the way and Like yeah grabs the glass and he just you see him making adjustments He's thinking on the fly the helicopter is like okay. This is how we're getting out of here But anyway, it's it's very much the guy that like how did I see there was some maybe you tell me about this that was a Camera wherever I ran across this recently like like there's a certain their types of bravery Hmm, how's is this sort of shallow version this arrogant bravery where like Certain he like Batman for instance Nose that no matter what's going on like in his head He knows that no matter what's going on if he has a second to think about it Even if he doesn't but if he has a second to think about it He'll have some plan that hook up a lot, but that's always the law with him right but the You know, someone pointed out the fun thing about how Jordan is that he's the kind of guy that does not have a plan
But has absolutely no doubt that he'll figure one out Like falling out of a plane No there was no plan previous to falling out of the plane But like he's just supremely confident that he'll mid air come up with something Yeah, and like yeah, this is a perfect he's fucking he floats away in the helicopter and then the reason I got so taken by it was my favorite Cute detail of it. He's getting out of the helicopter at the motel and her fucking hand still attached Yeah That was fun and cuffed to the side Nails unchipped I saw someone online say like huh, so you're just telling me how Jordan just knows how to fly helicopter magically and I was like dude so fucking he's a pilot. He's there. They're forced pilots I don't want to be gatekeepery, but man is it okay to gatekeep for someone's own benefit like I don't know that person's cut out for this Y'all he's a he's a pilot. Come on
His order to stories test pilot test pilot on top of that not just pilot Yeah, that's pilot Like precisely to be sure the kind of guy you would like to have the kind of stupid bravery I was talking about earlier where there is no plan. Yeah, all right. I think that's it. Yeah, that's all yeah I'm still very technically this is the best thing on television and I don't think I don't think there's it's actually not it's it's a time of decent television right this second We're in a good season for television. Yeah almost as though season still existed now that I think about it I was gonna say I'm not sure cuz I don't know how if someone came to me and said new tit lasso right now or new lanterns I don't know what I would say you haven't tried to last so yet just the season though, right? Yeah Just haven't done the season yet there were a couple of things that was catching up on so I hadn't yeah, so I haven't done it yet Yeah, I know there are contenders and you know, obviously the widow's Bay was sweeping up in me's like a few hours ago from where we are right now Mm-hmm
Yeah, as far as I know this is I and something that's been a lot of fun is it's broken containment several times This is a I've More and more every passing week. I see more and more people in my algorithm, which obviously is favoring this at this point I see more and more people that are just like man. I'm I didn't care about any of this but like I'm supposed to watch the show right? Yeah, you're supposed to watch the show all right I see a lot more just lantern curious people hopping over lantern curious Yeah, oh man. Yeah. Yeah. It's a good show. It is.
