Labour Party in Crisis: Keir Starmer Faces Pressure to Appoint Andy Burnham as Successor

The Labour Party is in turmoil as MPs urge Keir Starmer to name Manchester Mayor Andy Burnham as his successor to avoid a disastrous loss in upcoming local elections. Starmers leadership has been weakened by scandals, and Burnham, a former Cabinet minister, is seen as a strong contender. However, party insiders doubt Burnhams ability to secure a safe seat, and ministers are divided over the move. As polls approach, the leadership drama threatens to divide the party further.

On April 24, a 35-year-old man named Simon Richardson faces murder charges after a grammar school head teacher died in a bike crash in, greater Manchester. The victim, Michael Mullins, 56, was hit by a car on Paddock Lane in Altruncham around 6.10 pm on Monday. Richardson, who has no fixed address, also got hit with counts of manslaughter, dangerous driving, failing to stop, and driving without insurance. He's locked up and heading to Manchester and software magistrates court today. Mullins had led Strefford grammar school and Trafford for 17 years and was cycling home from work when it happened. Emergency crews tried everything, but he passed right there on the scene. Cops grabbed three men and one woman at first, but only Richardson's facing the big charges now. The news hit hard at the school, where folks left flowers at the gates all week. Mullins was a family man, dad, granddad, and total rock for his students. His loss leaves a huge void in the community. Local MP Andrew Western called him a dedicated leader who always put kids first, sending

thoughts to the family and staff. Two other men and a woman got bailed out while the probe keeps rolling. Police say Mullins' loved ones are getting full support from specialists. Cops still won dash cam, CCTV, or witness tips, hit them up on 101 or crime stoppers if you know anything. This one's far from over as they piece it all together.
