Listen up, Squizzkids! You have got just one more week to send in your questions for Aaron Blavy and put him in our Q&A hot seat. We've switched it on and it's already warming up, but we need your questions to turn up the heat. The creator of Bad Guys, Pig the Pug and the brand new Game of Pets is coming back and you get to do the asking. Why is he so good at writing naughty characters? Was he one himself? Was he have a pet of his own? And what is it that he loves so much about the grumpy Mr Snake? What's his favourite sandwich? And before his books became famous did he ever feel like giving up and what was it that kept him going? And after reading Game of Pets, what is it that we should be looking out for in case our pets are secretly part of an intergalactic game show? I've got my eye on you, Fluffy. Funny questions, thoughtful questions, something that you've always wanted to know, send it in. Ask a grown-up or a teacher to help you send an email to squizzkidsatthsquizz.com today
you right now and we'll pick the best ones to ask Aaron. One more week, your question, Aaron Blavy in the hot seat, what are you waiting for? Squizz Kids acknowledges the traditional owners of the lands on which we podcast, the terrible and convermarry people. Squizz Kids it's your daily news fix, fun, free, fresh. Hello fabulous squizz kids, quizzes and welcome to the kids vs adults weekly news quiz. Your chance to prove who's been paying the most attention to the week that just was, I'm Bryce Corbett. Now you know how this works, first we'll have five questions for kids about what's been happening in the world around us for the past seven days, then five questions for the big people. However answers the most correct questions, takes the winners podium. Easy. Plus of course because it's a Friday we've got all of today's birthday shout outs and
all the shout outs for the weekend ahead, including of course the birthday reggae tune because it wouldn't be a Friday without it. Alright friends you ready? Let's do this. Okay kids here are your five questions. Question number one, there was big news on the Australian Olympic front this week when the emblem of Brisbane's 2032 games was revealed. The emblem is inspired by what native Aussie bird? Well done if you said cockatoo, question number two. The NRL grand final took place in Sydney last weekend, which team won? Was it the Sydney Roosters or the Newcastle Knights? Well done if you said the Sydney Roosters. Question number three. Oh alright then, one for the AFL fans to just to even things out, even if it's not strictly
news from the week that just was. And which team won the AFL grand final a couple of weekends ago? Was it the free mantle dockers or the Brisbane Lions? Yeah that's right it was the mighty Lions. Question number four. One of our favourite competitions of the year took place over the recent school holidays. I'm talking about Fat Bear Week. A competition between the bears of Katmai National Park and Alaska with the winner being judged on how much weight it puts on before winter hibernation. What fish do the bears scoff down all summer long to pack on the pounds? Is it a tuna, b salmon or c goldfish? It'd have to be a whole lot of goldfish wouldn't it but it wasn't of course goldfish the answer is b salmon. Question number five.
We heard in the podcast this week how a prestigious series of awards was being handed out in Sweden this week. Recognising achievements in science, literature and world peace. Are they the A Grammy Awards, B Academy Awards or C Nobel Awards? Well done to you if you said C the Nobel Awards. Alrighty kids how did you go? Let's be honest now do you reckon you just flamed the adults? I reckon you probably did too. Now before we dive into the adult questions he is what's coming up in this week's Squizz Kids Science short. Your eyes spot a pizza, your nose sniffs it out and your tongue gives it the taste test. But how does your brain turn all those messages into a cheesy delicious experience? This week's excellent question comes from Miranda from Griffith who wants to know how
do our senses work? Christie's investigating sight, hearing smell, taste and touch plus a sense that helps you find your nose with your eyes shut. We'll meet animals that can detect electricity in the Earth's magnetic field and discover why your experience of right now is already a little bit in the past. Get your ears ready that's science shorts in your podcast feed tomorrow wherever you get your Squizz Kids. And if you have a science question you'd like Christie to investigate send it on through to SquizzKids at thesquizz.com.au. Alright adults, stretch, hydrate and get ready to rumble. You've got this. Question number one, the weekend news began with Australia helping to host a climate conference in the South Pacific. The answer is Fiji. Question number two. Alrighty, let's get sporty for a second. And the Wallabies, the Australian men's rugby team, are on something of a winning streak having recently beat Japan, Argentina and even South Africa. This weekend they play the all blacks competing to win what famous cup. Yep, they're competing for the letters low cup. Question number three, Australia's oldest man Ken Weeks from Graften celebrated his birth day this week. How old did he turn? Was it A, 105 years old, B, 113 years old, or C, 120 years old? It was B, 113 years old and Ken is also the second oldest man in the world, coming in just
behind a gentleman from Brazil who is 114. Imagine that. Question number four. There were protests this week across the country of which nation, as students took to the streets to express their dissatisfaction with the state of the education system. Yep, that was all unfurling in the beautiful country of France. Question number five, and a spot of pop culture to finish on. That's an easy one to boot.
