Kelsey Mitchell Shatters WNBA Records | Indianapolis News

Kelsey Mitchell just shattered WNBA history, becoming the first guard to score 1,000 points in a single regular season—finishing with 34 points in a game that pushed her total to 1,001. She’s now on a 24-game streak scoring at least 20 points, while also moving into second on Indiana Fever’s all-time assists list with 911. Standing at just 5’8”, she’s outpacing towering stars like A’ja Wilson in dominance, proving style doesn’t dictate impact. Mitchell’s elite play earned her back-to-back Eastern Conference Player of the Month honors (July and August), joining legends like Tamika Catchings and Caitlin Clark. Her August averages? 28.9 points, over 50% shooting from the field and three-point range—with 20+ in every one of her 11 games. Peers like Olivia Miles and Raven Johnson call her a “dog” and one of the best they’ve ever seen. Yet despite this seismic impact, she remains under the radar in broader sports discourse—until now.
