4:05mind right now but it's a four disc box because the base the rock and the wizard are both baseline so four discs forty five dollars ship straight to your door hard to beat that at least three custom stamps in there so check that out at foundation discs dot com all right let's get into the disc golf pro tour schedule so they announced their full 2027 schedule we already knew where it was starting so recap that which is the pre-mfly to open March 12th in Florida so we go supreme flight big easy queen city so we start a little bit later they are having a joe miss series at the greater greater Atlanta open in February so a little bit closer to when the tour normally would start there's that joe miss event I would imagine that'll actually be pretty well attended is that hot seat Arizona warm up like yeah there is an warm up earlier than that because that's already dwindled a little bit the Shelley Sharp in the memorial that's already started to dwindle but if that I'd be interested to see if that that joe miss event in general is well attended if people like want that warm up or if they're like and let's just jump

5:08right into the supreme and and go from there yeah I can't find the Memorial Day 227 they might not be out the discraft Memorial champion they might not be out yet because it might be a tier schedule come down yeah so might not be out yet but I'm like that could be hot so probably know because of the pro tour normally starts at the end of February so it shouldn't be it shouldn't matter those should be before so spring flight big easy queen cities where we start we will see the return of what is this proper north cove thank you for the bluerge championship a joe miss series again on that all week in between queen city and then coming up here to champions cup in Lynchburg yet again for the major so we knew that stretch the tour now from here on out we learn where the pro tours going so they'll head I'm gonna skip the joe miss series the rest of time I do think there's one interesting thing to talk about with the joe miss series the fact that there's there's two I think one of them is the fact there's a lot of them yes but we'll come back to them really yeah one I want to talk about after we talk through rest the schedule so um champions cup then we go to the open at Austin down in

6:10Austin Texas uh then we have the OTB open out in California so we're now in to May May 23rd uh then we go to cascade challenge is back to being a full pro tour so we see that come off the joe miss series back to a full pro tour and then worlds is happening June 16th through the 20th out in Portland oh early worlds early worlds so June 16th because when we were thinking about it when we were thinking about it before yeah I guess we assumed they did because then we go from so June 16th to 20th is worlds we then go over to Europe so well the first event will be July 9th through the 11th the European Disco Festival will be the first pro tour over there the year there's European Disco off championships by believe that's the event that only Europeans can play in which one the European Disco off championships I think I always forget the name of it but I'm pretty sure that's it so that's just as he notes that's the Euro tour all the year okay then we'll have another European elite series that's still to be

7:14announced so that one has not I wonder if that has to do with whether or not croak will be like ready maybe because that would be great to bring that back and then we have the European open July 22nd through 25 they got a month in between when it's better than we had a couple years ago or last year it's better than that then we come back over so that's July 22nd and 25 it just means we're gonna have from July to October yep no major don't love that then we come back over for Lechtone and then they brought back the doubles championship at the preserve no one's really surprised there to see that back US women's will hit there in Columbia Missouri yes and then D glow great lakes open in devolgaus then we go I'd a wild and then Green Mountain and then MVP so normal stretch but these are just plus events they're not playoff so Green Mountain MVP just two plus events then we hit US DGC October 7th through 10th then comes the playoffs so next after US DGC will have the disc golf pro tour playoffs at Ivy

8:17Hill hopefully that name changes we'll see I don't know then we go to the Kansas City wide open which is now a playoff event and then the powerball cup is back in Austin Texas yeah so we'll hit Austin twice Austin the second one I think will be a different course because the open Austin I believe is still a plus event yeah it is so I would imagine the open at Austin you pass it is though okay I would imagine the open at Austin will be the same two course then normally play and we'll be going to a different course for powerball cup this is the big I mean new we already knew because like the two main normal schedule talking points really are the early worlds with the Europe swing but we kind of knew that was coming because we knew world is on the west coast and there is only so much you can do with that but this aggressive playoff change was something that we maybe suspected because of the later finish that they had teased at with the schedule but it definitely here's what I'll say putting it after USDGC is or the

9:19playoff so obviously the powerball cup always is it is definitely a risk however I think it could pay off in the sense that I think what's happening here is USDGC ends I feel like they're I feel like the first two playoff events are at least the first one of them is almost a throw away like I feel like the Lynchburg playoff event is I don't want to say it's here and I hope people show up but it's like the best case scenario is those two events before the power ball cup are used to gain a little bit of momentum and steam back into the playoffs rather than just like okay the season basically just ended there's one more events the powerball cup it's now it's like major ended we're gonna give you two weeks to remember there's still a season happening and look there's still like people trudging towards the powerball cup then powerball cup so I think it actually helps the powerball cup overall and it being in Austin I think that was them being like hey this is one of our favorite locations let's hit it again but I think those two playoff events in the meantime they could be

10:20an afterthought and I don't want to say that necessarily about the in-person venue especially Kansas City like it's they still love that event they still might show up in great numbers it's better that they're not dealing with tornadoes in the fall hopefully but I do feel like viewership wise people like maybe by the end of Kansas City wide open people are checked back in like okay like let's let's watch this last event because I feel like the PGA tour playoffs can be that way in a little bit where it's like this the playoffs almost serve as like if we have enough events before the final thing it might get people dragged back in for the finals yeah I think one thing very important talk about is this will be the first time USDGC talk counts in the pro-tour standing because typically you have USDGC happen and field set so USDGC means nothing oh yeah I kind of do like that first time you have four majors working towards actually getting to the playoffs and it's on a point yeah plus you had to be qualified so that'll be that'll be big time that is huge I I love obviously

11:22I'm in Lynchburg I want the Lynchburg event to exist I think the only reason we're here is because I believe there was a three-year Lynchburg deal signed a while ago if I'm not mistaken I feel like I knew that for the like Powerball Cup or the tour championship we're having the Powerball Cup here this year and last next year would be the final one and so I think this was like we have to have an event out there throw it because we have a heart the Powerball Cup we already have a hard time getting people for because USDGC is a major three hours away right the weekend before so it's like you Lynchburg is not a big enough population area that we can hold a pro-tour event on our own we have to pull from Richmond Tennessee Raleigh Charlotte and the problem is the USDGC pulls from all that so it's like everyone in this area that would go to a pro-tour event is now having to choose between major and it was the Powerball Cup now a major in the playoff event I feel like this is probably any any just stock playoff event that was happening near US DGC right the week after was

12:24always gonna be a dud yeah so I think this was to just like it's convenient we run a lot of events there it does spectate well and it accommodates it's film well the players like it right so like it was an easy one for them to and hey it's cool that we'll have the pro- hey it's another time to clap at the pros when they come down so I'm very happy about it we'll have worlds the next season but yeah yeah it is it is pretty wild though that the tour will be in Austin twice in Lynchburg twice and it'll be in Missouri twice US women's and then the KC wide open so like you're seeing them I mean in like US women's like I think that's a PDGA decision yeah but you are seeing locations get honed in on and I think what you're really seeing with the schedule is the pro-tour is not complacent I think they saw some growth in certain areas this year at certain events and they are trying to hone in on that and I think that more than ever because like you'll notice on that schedule notice Mania challenge you'll notice more than ever that they will phase out events if it's

13:28not performing at the level they believe an event can and like we were just at a world championships that was mind blowing it was a we've always considered US DGC to be this this world was certainly another example of a very profitable event yeah right like the at face value from what we can see this is a money factory tons of people on site passionate about disc golf so it shows you that there is there's a model to make successful disc golf events and I think they're just like we got to just we got to get our all star team of events out there every year so that our normal pro-tour event can get closer and closer to that world championships because I mean if you even get half as big at each stop even a quarter of his big you have a really solid tour going so I like to see that the pro-tour is not afraid to pull punches each year with the schedule and they're trying new things and it doesn't offend me when you make a choice that seems a little aggressive but I know that they'll they'll change it again if it doesn't work well I think the playoffs as soon as I saw

14:30this was my initial thought and the more I thought about it I still I think it's right which is like it's not going to feel right next year yeah going USDC the playoffs like USDGC has always felt like the end of the year and having just one more tournament which is the tour championship after has always felt wrong it's just like yeah why are we doing this this is stupid and it has the biggest purse I think that next year's so going to feel really weird really abnormal I then give this three years this is going to feel right I think this is how the schedule should work I think it makes way more sense because also like you'll get to USDGC and then the playoffs have cuts up to this point and have it mattered as much but this is gonna be the year where like when you cut the field down to what is it 80 for the second like there's gonna be some names that are like okay like some people aren't making it now will the pro tour actually allow that to happen that's something else we've seen people who are like in 95th get into MVP before but if they actually hold true to that like USDGC could actually have some like big swings in that would

15:32and then you'll you'll have the cuts going down and I think that this year this next year is going to feel a little weird by then give it a few years and like the playoffs starting after USDGC it's just going to feel right it's going to make way more sense yeah yeah a lot of people so there will be a lot of seasons that end before USDGC if they don't you know if you don't qualify they don't qualify so yeah did we ever look and see who grabbed those qualifying spots from that there was that crazy in a weird year well I've got that bars be was one bar's be did not get it because he's on Monday qualifying could click on him and see see who is in that tournament and who got in because I think like TJ real was in the change Logan Harpool and Nolan Ramsey would be in the two assuming they didn't already get sort by rating because like those weren't even two of the higher are in Greg bars be okay a third and third and third and fifth in the rating but bars be missed because this was a eights year that happened the week of worlds and you had people harder errands came in 33rd oh he's been injured that's like the word on the street but okay next thing

16:37with the schedule so we talked about the postseason Joe Messy pro series they expanded they said they added seven new stops I don't know I didn't actually count up to see if it's just like they shifted some so the or there's actually seven more than there were this year I don't know how many of them are actually the same because Waco isn't even on the same I don't know if seven new stops is we have seven total I gotta just count the pro the Joe Messy restops total I think they might be seven new ones not gonna lie I don't know if I recognized any of them from this past year seven they said the new ones yes they added seven they shifted them in now so that's already interesting right they just shifted some in I do think there's more than that last year but also what's interesting is one of them is the Eagles crossing open hosted by go throw which if you are those in this podcast you probably know what I'm about to say but like the go throw tour has existed the Joe Mess pro tour when that kind of started we were like oh this is like is this to squash out the squelch out the go throw tour like what's what's the play there and now we see them collaborating quote-unquote on this Eagles

17:41crossing open I'm wondering if they want the go throw tours dead for sure well we can't say for sure I I'd be surprised if it's not yeah we don't know officially I mean unless the Joe Mess like unless there's a world in which the Joe Mess series like literally stepped on their toes and took away that Eagles crossing venue from them like this has to be it for them I would be shocked I think I would be shocked if the go throw tour existed next year out of knowing this and dang man good on the Joe Mess tour I the Joe Mess tour thing is like it is exciting and I think if you're an avid Joe Mess viewer you got to be like drooling looking at the schedule because it's so much new and I I almost wonder if part of the reason we're seeing seven new venues it there's two two possibilities here because they they call this kind of a tryout situation it could mean it probably means in some respect that none of the Joe Mess

18:41series perform at the level at least on on site that they would have wanted to bring them back on the tour to run them again as a Joe Mess but it also I think the Joe Mess people are probably like hey people like the new venues yeah let's just run seven new venues but this is the perfect way I mean we're testing out Toronto we're testing out Tulsa like even Atlanta Atlanta I love it like I love that we're going to these population centers and seeing hey let's see if they get a crowd and you know what if they do see a later Burlington like see a later whoever like that's what they're gonna do I will say I'd wild is on is it Memorial Day or Labor Day Labor Day weekend yeah they're cooked again they were this year spectating was way down added cash was down 20 grand year over year maybe though if these tournaments start to feel like they're like because before I think a lot of them just felt safe but now that you know you could get cut like what if people just come out and drove to next maybe and they get all this added cash and it's probably gonna have to happen I I think the I think that the pro tour I don't know they're intentionally

19:44forcing them out but that's kind of it feels like the it feels like I was on yeah I think it's more of a venue play though too I mean I I think the crowd wasn't great and they picked about weekend but like you are like right there near Cincinnati like I don't think it's the worst population center but I will say like now with the tour I mean it's getting they're going for capitals like they're going for big cities so it has definitely changed a lot yeah so I do think I was probably out after that but after the Joe missed or the final thing was we saw the European tour um continue to grow and evolve so that they're going to have the European tour structure uh bringing everyone together it's going to include the European open to DGP T Elite Series events which you talked about the biennial which basically every other year I believe European disc golf championship three additional Euro tour eight years and an additional set of qualifying national and regional championships from across Europe to give players more opportunities compete for Euro tour points throughout the European summer swing while connecting the continent's most important events with a single standing race the European disc golf festival will serve as the first European Elite Series event next season with the second being announced

20:47soon and yes they're going to have the Euro tour finale in Estonia giving a one final opportunity to move up the Euro tour standings and compete for 2028 tour card qualification so um so basically the update structure they're still going to give out full tour cards and Euro tour cards based on the 2027 standing so this is another way that they're adding in like you can qualify from the Euro tour for the full pro tour to earn your tour card and give players like Rhiners where they're undiscovered European talent a place to shine a little bit refine their skill test their skill when the Americans come over and see like is touring in the US something that I can and should do and I think the more importantly it's continuing to develop the Pro Tours hold in Europe so that as the sport grows over there it's not like the Pro Tours building this American tour just for a European tour to come and be bigger yeah that's that's twofold thing and I because I think that it's very important that they do

21:50it early because I think as far as like a competing tour coming and taking over the Pro Tours on US soil pretty unlikely you need a lot of money and and you would have to be willing to burn a lot of it to get to where they've gotten to at this point but I think Europe that door is a little bit more open but the more they do this and create the path to the US tour which at this point is the one with the more money and more opportunity you know that's that's going to be incredibly crucial because I think that US disc golf I think is on a really we'll call it steady trajectory whether you would think that trajectory is this deep or this deep I think most people can agree it's going upwards their numbers would prove that and it's pretty steady I think the European trajectory at any point is a little more interesting that it could just spike hard and when it does you have to be ready for that and have the things in place to where you are just gobbling all that attention up rather than having to fend off competition for sure final note disc mania challenge we talked about

22:54it briefly it being gone they have confirmed it will return in 2028 so it's one of the events they said like that they might not appear on the schedule 27 and they would turn me the after whatever you hear what I like did you watch what he said like how he he basically went to worlds and he was like yeah we can't I can't do this like with my time I didn't watch me sad reading it here which basically he served full-time capacity his pro tour retail and basically within his statement he just said next season my efforts are dedicated to helping our team make the most out of worlds in Portland and assisting with the launch of several new events called calendar and he looks forward to the chance is mainly a challenge coming back in 2028 trying to make it a better year yet so that's probably what he that's more what he meant because when I saw like his statement I thought he mostly meant like he's basically saying like I don't have time to make I thought he was comparing like his event to like where he wanted it to grow compared to worlds I think he was talking more about what he needs to do for worlds next year yeah okay yeah so fair enough that is a hot seat right now to be on yeah because we I talked with the I think I briefly mentioned
