G'day, I'm Justin Wolffers, host of the Platypus Economics Podcast. If there's one thing I've learned from a career teaching economics, it's that your life is shaped by economic currents you'll never see. A single price tag can explain things a thousand experts can't. People who understand economics, they make better decisions in their careers, their finances, their relationships, and their communities, and I want that for you. Listen to and follow Platypus Economics, available now wherever you get your podcasts. America faces a choice. This is Battleground America. Here's Tara, Serveshes. It's not surprising, really. The Iranian leadership put $30,000 boundings on the heads of our service members. Anyway, who can kill one will be paid $30,000. That was just a few weeks ago. Now, according to the socialist prime minister of the UK, it looks like Iran was behind
this attack, dry run on the royal air force base, where the Iranians could find some of those US service members to earn their $30,000 bounty on. There are strong indications that Iran played a part in what happened over the weekend at RAF effort, but of course it remains an ongoing, complex and serious police investigation. Of course we are working closely with our colleagues in the United States of America. And yet we pretend and pretend that we could cut a deal with these people and they'll just stop. But I don't want this to be a negative podcast, because folks, we can turn the midterms around if we do one simple thing. All the polling points to it. The American people, Democrat, Independent and Republicans desperately want it. If anyone would just read that polling and it's not collapsed the Iranian economy with
kid glove sanctions. It's kill the Iranian leadership, kill the IRGC leadership and arm the Iranian people. And here's the crazy thing. We got five left. Trump could still turn this thing around. Because folks, this is what this is all about and everybody is missing it in the polling because they ask simple questions, as a Republican pollster or a Democrat pollster. Do you support the war in Iran overwhelmingly? No. But the American people aren't being asked why everyone simply presumes they don't want to pay the higher gas prices, but that's not what they're telling us in polling. One pollster has asked the American people the question, why are you mad over the Iran war? And the answer is staggering. The Americans, even Democrats, support using force. With Democrats supporting the use of force and sanctions to retake the straight by a full
16 points, 58 to 42, even independence, 69% to 31%. Americans strongly believe that keeping the straight open is an important national security concern by 58 points. And what's even more astonishing about this pro force in Iran poll is that it was done by Democrats, Hillary's pollster. In fact, Harvard Harris, a liberal pollster, yet the president's approval rating on Iran since it's just 39% and his overall approval rating is now the lowest it's ever been. What are the voters saying? Damn it, y'all, I can't be the only one who can read a poll. Finish them. But here's the beauty of it, folks. We still have time, but I'll get to that in a minute. Let's look at all the evidence before us. Yes, the media has been telling us on a loop, Donald Trump's polling at the lowest approval rating ever. Folks, he hasn't been this low since right after January 6th, but what they don't tell
you is who else is polling at their lowest approval rating ever. The Democrat Party, Americans are downright terrified of that. On the generic ballot, Republicans are polling between eight and 10 points higher than the Democrat Party, yet in generic midterm polling. In other words, who do you want to win the midterms? Tretsch are up by 6 to 8 points. The party everyone dislikes, by 8 to 10 points, what is going on here? They're doing the only thing they can do. We can't spend another six months playing silly games with the Iranian leadership. We're not willing to pay the gas prices for Trump to screw around. They are bagging him to kill the leadership or let his real do it. Nobody on Earth believes this man when he says we're close to a deal. And even if he was, the fact that he, they keep trying to kill him and us, belies the fact that they're not going to stick to a deal.
Nobody wants that deal. It's absurd. You can see the outlines of it, Michigan. Here's another example. Trump won Michigan. Well, we've got this lunatic L. S.I.E. running there. There was just a poll there. And by 9 points, a 9 points, majority agree L. S.I.E. is too liberal for the state of Michigan. But he's ahead by one point. Again, how do you explain it? Rage from absolute frustration. Keep in mind, folks, people aren't top. This is the administration that initially turned the straight of Hormuz over to the Chinese and Iranians to say they could have it. And took that back a week later, then said they do project freedom, which we're now seeing would work the whole time. But then the Saudis, with which the Trump family has hundreds of millions of dollars of business deals, ask Trump, hey, please don't do that. So did Pakistan. Don't protect the ships. Trump said, okay, no protecting of the ships. And the oil cargo ships just sat there for a month, as gas prices stayed high.
And folks, what we're learning this week, what we're seeing, what's being proved to us, we could have always controlled the straight. That's Trump, shady vans and Jared, because you're just deciding not to hurt some bizarre reason. People get this inherently. J.P. Morgan Chase just reported yesterday that 90% of the flow, a pre-war flow is back up and running. It could have always been that way. Folks, don't just tell people big things are going to happen after the midterms. Do it now. Show them. There will be progress on gas prices. And yet, team Trump is sending poor Lara Trump out. She must have chosen the short straw to be more than the fact that, well, the midterms are over and it looks like Trump's going to lose because of Iran. Why? Except that. If you had your RNC strategist back on, you must be banging your head on against the wall right now. The fact is, a four to six week conflict is now in its six months. It shows no sign of abating. If anything, the Iranians are dragging their feet on doing any form of deal.
It purely to hurt the president at the midterms. From a political point of view, it could cost him his legacy. Well, it could cost him these midterms. I think Donald Trump's legacy has yet to be written. And I think that folks, even Trump has admitted since April, we got about three weeks of fighting left. There's five weeks until the midterms. Many years when voters see, after months of Trump threatening to bomb Iran into the Stone Age, he's now trying to start them out economically. His good friend, General Jack Keen, to whom he awarded the highest civilian honor, Nager Friends, has finally damn near-losted on Fox News. Point blank saying, you can collapse the Iranian economy all you want. It's not going to make a difference until you fight. A lot of oil is now getting through the streets of full moves. And we're also told that internally, Iran is close to collapse. Treasure Secretary Besson gave him two weeks. How much longer do you think they can hold out?
They'll stick this thing out as long as they can. They think they can outlast us. They are absolutely determined to do this. What's going to happen here will probably have to return to military operations. They set the conditions for the collapse of the regime, get the Mossad and the CIA to undermine the regime at the same time. People don't want to hear it. Arm the citizens, we can do that. There are numbers of groups there. All of this is still achievable. This is about our determination. It's going to happen. They're going to collapse. We have to help them to collapse, though. Maybe an idle I will think economic treasure is enough. No count the revolutionary god at some point. And kill most of those leaders to be frank about it. This Fox News National Security commentator General after a brigadier general after National Security adviser, same thing over and over and over. If you're going to lose the midterms, when it goes down fighting, you know that thing where you get an amazing pair of shoes at a really great price and want to tell everyone
about it? Yes, so do we. If you're a designer shoe warehouse, we'll give you something to brag about, like the latest styles from brands you love, or the trends everyone's obsessing over, or shoes that make you feel like, well, you. So go ahead, show off a little, find shoes that get you, a price that get your budget. Head to your DSW store, or DSW.com today. DSW. Let us surprise you. What you're listening to presumably doesn't suck, so neither should your sound system. Sonos lets you listen seamlessly from room to room. Same great sound, expertly tuned, astonishingly clear. It's not magic, but it's not not magic. Why is the Iranian leadership so precious that they must be protected at all odds? And by the way, they know they are protected at all odds. Do you see this? Marco Rubio, this just broke in the New York Post. Keep in mind, they just tried to attack a base our troops were on in the UK.
And the Iranian leadership was supposed to leave New York, the delegation, after you and convention last week. Well, they've been hanging out, having a good time. The president went home, but the foreign minister, and it's really the three of them running the country. It's the president, the foreign minister, and Galibov who stayed behind, and then the delegations in America. They are so utterly unafraid of Trump that they were hanging out in New York. Marco Rubio, secretary of state, finally just kicked him out. Game of notice, we're evoking your visas, get the hell out. They were hanging out in New York folks. What does that tell you? They believe they are untouchable. Where do they get that believe from? I have some theories. Look folks, when you've got Jared Kushner, who's been appointed to do the negotiations, who has an investment fund called Affinity, that the Qataris in the Saudis have put $4.5 billion in $3.5 billion of it, by the way, since Trump took office, again, there is no way
he should be near the negotiating table. That is an absolute conflict of interest, but this is who is influencing the Trumps. You've got Trump with hundreds of millions of dollars of investments with the Saudis. Who asked Trump not to do operation freedom? The Saudis. This is who he's listening to. Jadie Vance has millions of investments with Omed Malik, so does Trump Jr. Who is Omed Malik, a former Democrat who was an advisor to the Obama administration, who, well, he has never been overtly pro-Iranian leadership. He has always taken the tact going all the way back to Obama. By the way, when Trump came back in this time, he switched his registration to Republican, he's always believed the way forward was diplomacy with the Iranian leadership. The Trumps have billions tied up with these people. And here's the thing, folks. I don't think this is some corrupt payoff or Trump would have never gone to war, okay? But I do think he's listening to the wrong people and it's about to cost him the midterms.
But the beauty of it is we can still turn this around. Folks, all we got to do is take the RAF Air Force Base as an excuse. You know, this is it, last straw. Bam. Why can't we arm the Iranian people? Why are the Iranian leaders untouchable? And if the Iranian economy does collapse, so what? The Iranian leadership has all the money, all the power and they've got all the proxies. They are going to kill a lot of our troops one way or another or they'll get Trump or they'll get a member of his administration. It's coming, folks. And I'm just waiting to hear that is really airline attack. It's an Iranian angle to it too. Folks, if that RAF base attack had gone through or if the airplane attack had gone through or another one that's absolutely coming, do you know the geopolitical implications of that? It would be a disaster. But again, folks, Trump has admitted we got three weeks of fighting left.
We could decimate these people, understand something folks. These really begged to be allowed to take out the leadership, both of the IRGC and of the country. They've been turned down again and again and again. And the first time Trump point blank forbade these release to do it. The second time these release claim and I believe them that JD Vance leaked their assassination plans to Turkey and that's cuddled them in order to stop it folks. We have got to get Vance and Kushner out of the way. Trump has got to want to win the midterms more than he wants to playcade whoever he thinks his friends are right now. This is totally fixable. The polls show it. The America people just want some kind of sign that this gas thing will end or that, you know, the price of diesel, the price of gas and now the corresponding price of food, that there is a way forward that Trump is not going to spend the next year capitulating to Iran for no clear reason. Because folks, we have a great story to tell.
Cooling inflation and my personal favorite, the Atlanta Fed forecasting that this quarter is going to come in at 5% growth folks. We haven't seen 5% growth in decades. And the previous two quarters are now being advised revised upward in terms of economic growth. We've got 4% wage hikes for the working class. We haven't seen that in years. And we've got factory equipment supply orders by businesses that are up 16% year over year again. We haven't seen that in years. The economy is about to catch fire. And folks, when we started this midterm battle, we were talking about only losing the house. The Senate wasn't in play. Now the Senate's in play folks, that is legit terrifying. Okay. Because if they can take the Senate and they can take the presidency in 28, well, we just better hope that Clarence Thomas's veins are clear because those justices are old. Why sacrifice all of that to keep the Iranian leadership alive?
It's baffling. But we have time. We can do it now, but it's got to start now. No more gas letting the American people, no more telling us we can and we can out that the Iranian leadership wants a deal. Stop it. What if the thing you're listening to right now never got interrupted? What if it could play uninterrupted from room to room on sonos? What if you start with two sonos speakers just to see how it feels? What if you really like how it feels and you become a sonos person who can't stop saying to their friends, what if you start with two sonos speakers just to see how it feels?
Because it's not magic. But it's not not magic.
