No! No! 20th century studios presents the most incredible survival story of the year. How did we help out there? We'll fall on October 16th to survive the unthinkable, do the impossible. You're gonna become so dangerous that the predators can't help but let you go. We're gonna get out of here. We got it, folks! We got it, folks! We'll fall, waited PD 13 and theaters October 16th get tickets now. This is The Chris Carlin Podcast. This is live morning Z10 on ESPN New York and streaming live on YouTube. It's Carlin, it's brought to its ESPN New York. A lot to get, it's been quite a while. So here's what happened. Dan was telling me a story slash joke from The Howard Stern Show from years ago. And the punch, just as I was reaching over to take a drink of my ice green tea

and the punchline was Jackie the joke man, Martin. And I just could not keep it in. I fought hard to have. I got a mouthful of green tea. I didn't see the inshaling of the green tea when the joke was being told. And that's why it was like Mount St. Helens in here. Oh my god. It was so innocuous. And Anthony Pusik walks in just to say hi because he's like reporting for duty today. And then he sees this whole thing transpire. Like you could throw a random Jackie the joke man, Bartling at me at any point. And I will lose it anywhere. And Anthony's back with paper towels, OnePlus Anthony. It's all over my shirt all over the drying agent. Well, that's what I'm using right now with these patting down with these. Tunes he doesn't stain does it? It's not even more right now.

Yeah, we'll be fine there. But that's good. It's good to laugh. It's good to laugh. Get it out of your ear. Yes, it is good to laugh. And then the thing is that you, you don't love, let's, how would I put this? Yeah. Projectile, expelling of any sort of liquid coming in your direction. It wasn't in my direction. All right, it didn't, I didn't get you. Nothing. All right, it was a little afraid that straight down. Like a waterfall. And the way that you said it, and by the time you get to be open. You just, no, you got to let it go. Tom, you didn't even see what happened, did you? Like you didn't witness it. No, I thought the way like you guys were laughing, Anthony walked into the studio. Like you guys used like a bucket gag on the door type of thing. And you were laughing at his misery. Oh, yeah, no idea what. Like a bucket of confetti, like was pouring on his head. Because when he walked in like a home alone, try like it's home alone. Oh, my God. So you guys want to recreate it?

No, I won't spit it again. If they, if they have the footage, like obviously you're not going to get the audio component. We have that footage from during the break or not. Unless we had the camera on you live during the break, which we didn't, then we do not have footage. They don't have the cameras on during the break. Well, they do. They're on, but they, they're not on live. It's not a live feed. But they can't go back and like grab it though. Like we don't have that. No, we have to stop and start the recording each and every segment. So we did not have that. Gotcha. Oh, my Lord. It's one of those things that's only, you know, going to be living on in legend. And tell you're not going to have any physical evidence, but it was funny. That's a good way to get. Oh, that was a good. Jackie, the joke. I didn't even, I didn't even expect that to cause that type of reaction. Oh, it was funny. Can't even do the lab. Like. Just think of that. But it's, it's. It's funny though. For people who listen to Howard, they, they know that like that used to be a classic. Oh, yeah. Line that you'd hit him with. It was just like something incredibly interesting.

Like, like, a stino. Law bite back or that. Or that. Beautiful timing. Without skipping a beat. Free plug for dagostino. And the guy who wrote the jingle. Oh, my Lord. We are, we are on fire today. They remember they wanted us to be excited because the Yankees one. We're excited. Oh, my God. Yankees one. Oh. Oh, my God. Oh, my God. Oh, my God. Oh, my God. Oh, my God. Oh, my God. Oh, my God. Oh, my God. Oh, my God. Oh, my God. Oh, my God. Oh, my God. And we're having a good, how could he not be having a good time. Oh, my Lord. That was, that was something. Anyway, whoo. I'll try to, I'll try to recollect myself here. Oh, I got a headache from it. Yeah, that was something. Oh, my God. Um, it was good. I, uh, I tell you, I, I can't believe the ease with which they just disposed of the red socks. I thought it would be a little bit tougher. going into yesterday when I heard, um,

it's not any great talk about, uh, you know, what it, what the reception was gonna be for him and all that. And he's saying it's gonna be what it's gonna be. And then he tries to explain really man's explain to the audience about what a snowball effect is. I just thought, all right, give me, just give me the Yankees by a million tonight. But I mean, he was obviously very, very good. They just had no idea what they're doing when it comes to their pitching stuff. If that's somebody, this is what really blows me away about how badly the Red Sox blew that. Mm hmm. Um, Yankees just beat the crap out of him anyway, right? They're winning the game anyway. Sure. But if it really is all about analytics, if the guy is the best pitcher in the league, the third time through the order as he claims to be statistically and said, that's just fact. Well, why wouldn't you do that? It's 70 pitches leaving the guy in. Listen, there are pitch counts that are more strenuous than others. 70's not that number.

70's not that number where even if it was a stressful 70 where you'd really be worried about it all that much. Well, the thing about that too, it's like think it, think it, think of it this way, right? If this was a move that a lot of people are insinuating is steeped in the analytics, then that should be something that the analytics tells you that if this is the best pitcher in the American league, third time through the order, why are you going against that? It's almost like you're contradicting yourself by making this decision to get him out of the game. And look, nobody knows if they would have came back and won the game even if he stayed. We have no clue. But you didn't give yourself a chance, and you didn't give your guy a chance to possibly pitch out of this thing. A guy who you've trusted really all season long. Let's face it. And with good reason, he went to 18 and five. I mean, he had, uh, what was his ERA list in three? I believe it was like 285. Correct. Something like that. He had probably earned that, but I, I never at any point thought, oh, they're red talks are going to win this game tonight because sunny Gray is going to beat them.

I never thought any moment during that game, it felt like an inevitability during the game. You know, it's interesting. I mean, maybe this is another story for another time or a conversation, but look at the three out of the four series were sweeps. All three of them were all lopsided. You didn't even have like close games. Like we know Yankees Red Sox lopsided Chicago, San Diego, the combined score was 12 to one in those two games. White socks, Astros, each game was decided by at least three runs. You know what I mean? So like they weren't even close. Is that just going to be like luck of the draw the way the teams were slotted this year or does baseball have to like rethink this format? Oh, they have to rethink this format. Like this, the receipt has to have the receipt, but that's that's something that happens after round one, though, right? Like that's where when it would happen. Well, you you should not end up in a position, even though they're the top two wild cards, I honestly think the receding should happen before this. And you may argue that it takes away the importance of winning a division. Right. I'm sorry.

I would not be that broken up if I took away the importance of the Astros winning the division with 82 wins or with 81 wins, whatever it was. I mean, they don't deserve to have a home series. If they're playing a team in that spot, let's say, even if you're the six team, if that team has more wins than they do, they should be playing that series at home. At the very least, they should be playing that series at home. And to me, when you it shouldn't have anything to do with how the playoffs are going to work out, I hate that. I've always hated it. I've hated it. I hated it. Neon, I fell for the longest time when you'd have the Seahawks at seven and nine post in a playoff game. And what do you know? They win and then they go on the road the next week and they get their doors blown. Right. Like it's moments like that that really bother me where no, let's see this according to who the best teams have been during the season. And that way we're going to end up with the best two teams at the

end or potentially the best. I use, I use the Metzes in example earlier in the show. Let's, let's keep it in the National League with Colorado. Colorado was the worst team by far. Okay. The Cubs won 31 more games than the Rockies this year. So they were leaps and bounds better. They're reward. They got to play two more games. You think Colorado's crying the blues like, oh, look at those guys. They only got two more than we did. We're on the golf course already. You know, like, well, I mean, what do you feel like this should be five game series, seven game series, seven games all the way through like they do in the NBA now? Not seven. No, but me like I wouldn't look, I love baseball. I wouldn't be opposed to best out of five. At least you're given them at least a little bit more of a cushion because we've seen all you even see during the course of a regular season, like any three game series, like one of the worst teams can end up winning a series against one of the best teams. Like that's just the ebbs and flows of baseball. But my only problem with that is that we just went from a situation. They wanted to have so much on the line when it was just one game for the wild card. Right. Because they'd like the juice of that.

All right. So after a few years, you get to a point of, well, don't we have to give them more of a chance than just one game? And so they make it two out of three. So then we're going to make the wild card series three out of five. And then we're going to go three out of five. And you also potentially have the risk of a team being off for what eight, nine days before their plane, potentially, and then you get into the whole thing, like does the rust actually affect them and so on and so forth. And the wild card and I listen, I can't say this for certain. Yeah. But if you're playing a five game series as opposed to a three game series, good chance the wild card gets end up ends up getting spread out a little bit more based on television if you're going to do that because television's going to want to get their money's worth. The only thing that I'm glad about now with this round being over essentially is no more of these streaming games because I got to be honest with you. It was a pain in the ass, like going back and forth. Like, okay, the Phillies game was on NBC. And then if I wanted to watch the white socks, I had to go over to peacock. Last night, for example, the Yankee games are on it. Eight, the Padre game starts on peacock at 10 o'clock. Like, I'm not just going to keep going back and forth from TV to streaming to

streaming. You know what I mean? Like, so I'm glad now that at least every game is going to be on television, which I'm paying for already the rest of the playoffs. Let's hit Bobby and Bill Moore on ESPN, New York. Bobby, what's going on? Good morning, guys. Dan Chris. I don't know if this is the top. I don't know how you're doing, guys. I love this. It could have formed, but the top three, the top sorry, the first three pictures of that series for the race is going to be respite, which I agree, obviously. Denmark, Tina's and the clan in here. I think we were planning it could be available. It's game two, three. Bobby, games two and three are not confirmed. The only thing that they've confirmed to my knowledge so far, they said Rasmussen and Game 1. Yeah, but why isn't Freddie Perolta? But why isn't Freddie Perolta, Pitchin 1, and Patrick? Right. He was the American link pitcher. I also got it. I think he will. Yeah. Right. Yeah. Yeah. Well, look, I'm looking at the schedule. Actually, Rasmussen could pitch one in five on regular rest. I'm sorry, one in four. And Perolta could pitch two in five. He's been on high and have Martinez pitch game three. I wouldn't put him a clan in hand.

I mean, he was very shaking before he got hurt. And, you know, and that's going to give the Yankees issues. And, you know, I would do that. I would throw you two best restlessness. I made the Yankees effort at one game in Tampa. And Perolta was Perolta, but we've been unbelievable to less, what, six, seven stocks. Well, you got to throw those guys. Bobby, I mean, it's not that McLean's not going to be in the mix. You're talking about Perolta. You're talking about Martinez, Griffin, Jacks and in Seymour. I mean, that's pretty much how they ended the season with the Martinez. These Nick Martinez was a Fordham guy, believe it or not. And that has been very good. Remember, you're only going to need more and four guys. So if you're going to McLean, a hand Rasmussen, just in any order, Perolta Martinez, they have, they have enough guys. By the way, Drew, another story for another day, Drew Rasmussen to me is a target that I think the match should go after in the off season because, because, well, here's why he's arbitration eligible. Okay. The way he's hit all of his incentives this year by how much he's pitched.

It's going to cost Tampa Bay, probably in the neighborhood of about $20 million. They're not going to pay $20 million for a picture. There has never been a player in the history of the Tampa Bay race who has gotten paid more than I think 17 or $18 million a year. It's not going to be Drew Rasmussen. No, he will be there to be had by some organization. So all those prospects at the Metz got at the trade deadline. Dave Sterns pick up the phone, call the raise and get Drew Rasmussen in this rotation next year. So Jefferson Rojas out get. No, the hell no, we're keeping Jefferson Rojas, but you got other guys down there. Okay. Yeah. Listen, if I'm the raise at this point, there's, there's no doubt that I'm getting Perolta in the mix here. He's been just to good. He's the picture of the month, the month. And it's not just like three starts. No, it was like a five starts in the month sub one ERA. You got to ride the hot hand. Did Perolta pitch against the Yankees in that first. I won that series. I want to say he did, but I'll confirm that for you. Okay. That series was back in May, I think. Yes. The first series of the year when he was back.

Well, Clay Holmes pitched the first game and he got his leg broken. Right. So we know that. Let's see. Yes, he did on May 17th. He went five innings, three runs. But that was still when he was bad for Eddie Perolta. Right. Bad for Eddie. What when he was running a minute, uniform was running a bit in uniform. Yeah. No, listen, I, uh, and then he pitched and beat the Mets when he was a member of the race on September the first. I would be very surprised if he did not pitch one of the first three games. And the only one that they have confirmed so far to my knowledge, I believe cash yesterday confirmed that it definitely will be, um, game one Rasmussen. His last six starts Perolta with Tampa Bay. Last six starts. He gave up a grand total of three runs. Three of them were scoreless appearances. And then a run each in the other three. Yeah. Uh, it will be Rasmussen. Mm hmm. So Rasmussen, Perolta, maybe game two. And maybe they throw Nick Martinez back in his, uh, game three friendly, uh, confines of New York, the four-room guy in game three.

Yep. Maybe cash said yesterday, the extra day off between games one and two is a factor. And the rest of it will come together in the coming days. Okay. There are no rush. No. You know, he's gonna have, yeah, and plus you know how these managers are. They want to like keep everything so close to the vest. They don't want to tell me they're not even going to tell you that they got a game that day if they could. They would try to throw you off the trail. Do you at this point, if you had to guess leading into Saturday, mm hmm. The roster construction for the Yankee. Oh, baby. Is this a 14 position player 12 pitcher situation or because you have the extra time? I think we both agree. It's not going to be 16 and 10 again. We're the longer series. Let me ask you a question. Here's what I'll say to that. You have a D H obviously. Okay. So you think about nine guys. You're going to put nine bats in your lineup every day. If you go 14 and 12, that still leaves you with a five man bench. Like how much longer of a bench do you need or how much deeper of a bench do you need than five guys?

Right? I mean, no, no, let me, here's where it gets a little hairy. I'm 14 and 12 to me is probably the number. That's the number. But here's where it gets hairy to me. Okay. If I have a five man bench, I have to know a little bit more what's Aaron judge's status. Is this going to be a guy who's, who's, I don't want to use the word or the phrase. So is he somebody who's going to be basically just a sitting duck on the bench? You know, that if he feels okay, if he doesn't feel okay, like he might be ready game three, is he just going to be a body sitting there like a mannequin for two games that I don't have at my disposal? You know, it's like when you decide who you're dressing on Sunday for a football game, are you going to take that fifth wide receiver or whatever if they don't play special teams? He just like like Odell was with the Giants. He was basically just eating up a roster spot and didn't provide value. And so now they finally caught him. So I'll ask you this question. Yeah. I mean, this kind of ties into it. I tell you that I'm not playing game. I'm not judges.

Not ready to play games one or two. Okay. All right. But I can play him in right field. One of the two games game three or four because they're back to back days. I got to be careful there. And then potentially, D H him in a game five. That's what because I don't want to play him on the turf in Tampa. That is what I need to know. Can he play right? But let's say that's let's say that's the scenario though. Yeah. Where game four, I might get him in a bat as a pitch as a pinch hitter or I might like just to have him there. He'll have incredible value. But having that be the case, start one game in the outfield. Have for a pinch hitter in game four because they don't want to play him back to back games game five. Potential D H, even though I don't love that idea because that means I'm playing rice at first base. And either depending on who's pitching either Garcia or Goldsmith sitting is Garcia or both are potentially sitting.

Well, I need to know in terms of what they're going to throw at me because I told you, if I had my brother need to know the picture, right? So let's say it's a righty. So if Nick Martinez is out there, okay? I could put Luis Garcia at first base. And I could have rice as my D H. Well, that's what I'm asking you. Would you rather have judge as your D H? I'm asking you, are you putting judge on the roster? If you can play him in the outfield one game, you can pinch hit him one game. And then you could D H and one game. I'm not. I'm not. Here's where I would or if I decide to go ahead and do that, it comes then at the expensive stand. I can't have. I can't have both of those guys be question marks. In that case, then I'm also going to be comfortable going with 15 and 11 because if I do that, then I am rolling the dice with judge to a degree. And I have to prepare for that accordingly. I'm not going to have 16 position players again.

We did that because that was a three game series. Yes, he's in there in place of stanton. But I also am hamstringing myself a little bit more with the pitchers. So I have to have that extra picture available. Don't I or position player available? I should say at 15. I'm not going 14. I'm going 15 because I'm giving judge. That possibility of playing and I will short change myself a picture because I have the series spread out more 15 and 11 is feasible if we're going to do it like that. Like I you know, I'm saying like if we were going to throw those variables into it, then 15 and 11, I think I could live with because you have two guys right now who were huge question marks. You don't know what you're getting at a judge. You don't know what you're getting realistically at a stand. Those are also two right handed bats. You know, so then who then is coming off because you're throwing two guys who are both from the right hand side of the plate that may or may not be able to provide

value for you on any given day. So somebody else has to then be available to hit from the right hand side if those guys can't right. No pun intended. No, I I. I'm not having judge and stanton on the roster together. I honestly think the way this is going to come down. If you're going to tell me you're going 14 14 or 15, I still think it comes at the expensive stand. I don't disagree with that. Right. But if judge says, Hey, I could play. Hey, I could get out and write field. That's the guy that they're going to give the nod to. But what again, I give you a very specific situation and they will have mapped this out as to how much judge can play. And it's not games one or two. Game three, the outfield game four pinch hit game five.

I'm okay with that. I'm okay with that. I'll tell you what, barring, I'm getting the pitching that I'm getting. You're not doing it. I'm not doing it. Why? I would rather have him fully rested for the ALC. Okay. And I know that I'm banking on being able to win that series, but I think I feel pretty confident with what just happened. It was against two pretty good pitchers, by the way, that I just even though the Red Sucks screwed up how they handled them, I did beat two guys just now that we're not bad. And put up nine runs in each game. Yeah. But I mean, as far as the rotation, even even the rays pitching, I feel like I could do some damage against. I don't think I need to do it. I don't need to rush him. Like that to me is just what if he tells you to pay Paul there. And I don't know that Paul, by the way, is caught up is locked in locked in is wrong phrase. If he's caught up in terms of, you know, timing and all that stuff, based on what I saw when he did come back.

So yesterday, I think I read somewhere yesterday, he was actually like before the game in Somerset doing like live BP. So he's doing on field work. He's getting closer. I just have a hard time believing the captain of the New York Yankees, the three time MVP, you know, generational player. If he goes to Aaron Boone, Brian Cashman says, Hey, I'm good to go. He's going to be on this roster. I don't know what kind of playing time he's getting, but he's they're going to put him on the roster. How do you think you got out there? Take 22. No, I don't think if he took 22, there's no way in hell he's making it at a timely fashion at rush hour. That's hell. He was will be on the cross Bronx. No, he probably took to 87, 287. Yeah, to 80. You think 287 at 22? You're getting across the bridge in timely fashion. I don't know how we got back to Yankee Stadium. That's why he wasn't there for pre about 22 up the parkway to the turnpike. You could do that. But how is he getting back? Was he, you think he's taken the George Washington bridge with 50,000 people coming to a deciding Yankee Reds?

I think there's a chance Aaron judge probably has a police escort. I don't know that for sure. Well, a little chopper maybe. Chopper. No, no. I don't think so. I could see a police escort. I'm just, I'm just, I know he didn't know for. I could tell you that. I'm not going to wait. No, no, no, no, he's on a strict regimen. He's not going like that's bad for the calf recovery. Bringing some of the comments from the ESPN, New York YouTube chat, which is hot as they say, hot to Molly, baby, at the moment, see Jean Moore. If you put judge in right field, what happens if he can't get to a ball? I think that's fair. By the way, obviously, I mean, they're going to know this before, you know, giving him the green light, right? But by the way, yeah, last night, mm hmm. You're back in the starting lineup, Trent Christian. Oh, charge, charge the ball. Please when, when Joe Gerardi says to them right there, oh, yeah, that's the scouting report. He doesn't run hard after balls that land in front of him. Fair point. You know, normally your first ball, your first step is back as an outfielder. But in this case, you know what, Trent, given what's played you so far here this year, maybe first step in. Luce for Morningstar. Stanton is history. Let the young core players play and mold the future. C.G. More exactly, Carl and I'm not rushing him back.

And then Marcus Ciasco says, Judge probably took 78 to get out there, but that makes no sense because that's ordering a whole nother mix of problems. Then then I'm talking about traffic right around the turnpike. And do I want to get the outer bridge crossing into the mixed air? No, I don't. Although 78 at times, even at that hour, couldn't move better than 22, for example, or even 287, depending on where you catch it. Also one more comment here, let him, let him blanking play. He earned it. I hear you, but the problem is this isn't, you know, opening day, let him be in the line of opening day. He earned it. You know, this is the playoffs. You know, this is the money season. And obviously they're going to give him every opportunity to get in that lineup and to deserve to be in that lineup. You know what would have changed my mind a little bit more if, if he hadn't been four for 23, if he had been seven or eight for 23 coming back. I know what I'm not with as many strikeouts, what do you have 13 or 14 strikeouts?

Something like that. But is it easier to ration in the sense that, okay, it was four for 23, but that was two, three weeks ago, not three months ago. No, but that means to me that he has a better chance of getting his timing back. That's all in a shorter period of time. If he had not shown that it was still very rusty over the course of 20 plus at bats, that he needs more time than that, which is fair, completely fair. I would be more thoughtful of that. But what if, and I know this is a big, big if, and this is like glass half full, what if if he never got hurt and he was going to continue to be in the lineup, like within the next couple of games, he automatically was just going to like break out of it. And you were going to start to see the judge who expected to see maybe that four for 23, qualified as him getting his timing back. We'll never know the answer to that. But like I was saying, so that four for 23 still happened two, three weeks ago. When he returns this time, it's not like we're talking about a guy who hasn't swung a bat in the game

in three months like it was during that stretch when he came back. No, I mean, I'm just trying to, I'm trying to sit here and give the guy the benefit of the doubt, who obviously he's had a lot of success. He's had a ton of success. Do I need to win this series, Dan? Do I need Aaron judge? I'm going to answer that question and say no. Then there's nothing to talk about. To me, there's nothing to talk about. Unless he is exceptionally close to 100%. There is nothing to talk. And think about this. I mean, I know you think he's close to 100% because I don't know. Absolutely. He wasn't on the roster in the first round against the Boston Red Sox. What was that tell you? Yankee captain, not on the roster against their arch rival tells me all I need to know about where he is. And I don't even buy into the part of it that Boone is saying, yeah, he just wasn't quite there. Making it sound like he was a lot closer than maybe he was. You know, there was a calf strain and all that blood, blood, blood, blood moderate, severe intermediate. What? I think that's all Boone just CYA in that moment because judge gets so annoyed with how they talk about his injuries.

And the bottom line was he wasn't ready. Right? He wasn't ready. And you know what's interesting too, it's it's crazy. We might be getting ahead of ourselves a little bit. If they get by Tampa Bay, then you're telling me you got Cleveland or Chicago, standing in your way to get back to a world series. Yeah. Like two teams in that industry where I get my timing back. That, that, that, that, that you have owned for how long? Yeah. They've owned that division. It is, it is, it is criminal that to get to the world series, they have to beat these two teams first before playing one of those teams. I never really thought that it would be the case, but it is incredible how it is all fallen into place. There seems to be falling into place for them. When did we see that before? It's spring. I don't know if you caught this yesterday. Yeah. So I'm running out to make a little run to staples. Yeah, I should have to do it. Really? Yeah. For some staples staples of my, my, my preparation for games involves arts and crafts.

Okay. So I had to get some foam board, some erasers, labels, intermediate bag of lifesavers, like just these arbitrary things they have at a staples, you know, the candy section, four pound hand sanitizer. Exactly. At any rate, I'm running out of the spare for the office, maybe. And I'm listening to Don Hahn and Rosenberg. And Peter is talking about how he had planned on going to the game last night. He had the idea game. Yeah, he and his lovely wife Natalie had secured some tickets from a fan. Of course they were from a friend. And of course they weren't just, you know, I'm going to sit in four, eleven. It was now if Peter's going to the game, he's sitting in the legend seats, right? There was a bit of a snafu with the tickets. That's where I will leave the jumping off point as they discuss it here. If you ask for tickets for Wednesday and you get tickets, you're going to,

it's safe to assume that for Wednesday, why would you check and make sure that I'm not just look at the tickets just to like, all right, let's see if they were there, assuming they would ask for Wednesday, because that's what I asked for. That's the hard part. Why would they give? Because again, Natalie says, I respect this, like a true cocaptain of a family, taking the ownership. Natalie said it's me. I take the blame. How is it? She's owning it. But let's say because she had the tickets sent to her. She, I guess she could have looked. She had the concentration. Yes. So here's what happened. Number one, you'll see the casual nature with which Peter was ready to accept Natalie taking blame for the entire problem. Right. The problem was they got tickets for Tuesday and didn't realize the tickets they got were for Tuesday. So they missed the game completely on Tuesday, but they were asking for tickets for Wednesday. Asking for tickets for Wednesday, received the tickets, obviously in time, even for Tuesday's game, right, failed to check and acknowledge that the tickets were for Tuesday. Well, that's what they confirmed here.

Natalie had already seen the tickets in her account. She screen shot it there. The numbers, they're gone. She never transferred them. They're gone. Oh, boy. You don't think that maybe you had tickets for yesterday instead of today, right? Oh, that would be because then that would make sense why they disappeared. Like they were there in their gone because did you check the date? Well, I know what we asked for, but what if we tell her to check that screen shot again? Yeah. I'm scared even look if September 29th, then you missed a hell of a game. And I miss Paul Simon. And that's right. Don't this could be bad. Yeah. That's what happened. Missed it completely did not did not did not get tickets for Wednesday. They got the tickets for Tuesday. Now, we've all been in a situation where we've gotten tickets for something, whether it's somebody gave them to you, you purchased them yourself. In the first thing you do when you see the tickets is to make sure that you receive them. Okay, you check to make sure that they're the ones that you got.

I kind of see Don's point here. If you asked for it, can I get tickets for Wednesday? And then you get an email or a notification that says, here are the tickets. Am I going to go and examine that to make sure they're for the right date? Yes. I always do. I always check this first. You're a little type A. Well, also, first I want to check and see if I'm not given a guarantee, like among other things, like where are the seats? You know, like where are the seats? Make sure I'm getting the seats that I think I was getting. And then also, I'm also, it doesn't take long to have the rest of the six that you get. They're up in section 411. Thanks, but no thanks then. Wow. Yeah, how about that? Wow. Yeah, I didn't realize you were so high fluten. I'm not a high fluten huckster, not like that. But I was just thinking like, you're fluten. Well, I don't know if I hire low flute, but there might be an occasional flute every now and then. Yeah. But like, so what had like, did he buy these tickets? Did they ask for the tickets with somebody doing a solid to give them the tickets? Like, how did this happen?

You know what I mean? Like, it doesn't sound like it was a purchase. They were sent to buy someone. Yeah, they were, they were a gift. Right. Okay. So like, I guess somebody offered them tickets. So were they asked, can we get your tickets in a game? Now in this modern world, everything is digital. There's no like hard paper tickets anymore. The first thing I do is once I see notification that the tickets have been sent, I immediately transfer them over to the Apple wallet. Come on in. Come inside. Anthony Pusik is here. I don't know if you know this. I have to be excited about the Rangers home opener tonight. Rangers Lightning tonight, 630 pregame. Absolutely. Listen, Peter, by the way, you see tomorrow is six o'clock pregame in the toi. I know. What about the D.H.R. only until six? The guys are really shaken up about it. So you know what they are grinders. Peter, it was either a friend of Natalie's or a friend of Peter's that they met in passing last week. And the friend told you just met the friends. Like they, they, they knew them, but they saw them and they're like,

oh, I'm a big fan of you, big fan of Peter, Bob Vaughan. They met the copper euros and they said, listen, if you, if you ever need tickets, my company, whatever company, this is actually don't know the company has tickets. Just tell me when I can get you to these games. This game and now all that's all Peter had to hear. So Peter within seconds says, of course, so Peterson house next, we house next Wednesday. Did Peter's reply are obviously said, where are the seats? Well, yes, of course. And when he found out that they were legends, it's a, it's a, can I say this? It's a, am I allowed to say the word on the radio? But you can say anything once. You have the button, Chris. It was a, I'm not taking responsibility. I can hear a standpoint. And I think I could say this openly. When I think of, you know, Mr. baseball, Bob, you, I'm not putting Peter in that. Mr. baseball category. So what you're missing there is, he's also an Orioles fan and he's an Orioles fan. Right. He's in a world of Orioles. Cap to the game. You know, he's a, he's an event guy. He's an event. So you meet somebody and then all of a sudden, there's a camera. That's where to be. I know you for two seconds and I'm immediately going to take you up on the offer,

not just for tickets, but for playoff tickets a week later. Shout out to the friend. They were very willing and it's of course the company tickets that, yeah, her tickets, all her, his or her tickets, all due respect. She just said, Oh, yeah, the two tickets. Here you go. Now, if I, and I'm not blaming Natalie, I know Peter tried to let Natalie take Oh, no, he didn't try to. He did. Oh, good job. I Natalie great co-capt in the family. She takes the boy. So it had to be Natalie's, it had to be Natalie's friend because she got the tickets transferred to her in some of the. He gets married. I'm still going to look at the date of the tickets. Even if I said, Hey, I'm going to look and make sure 29. I have to admit there's a chance that I would not as someone who gets is fortunate enough to also have tickets sent to them with some sort of frequency. I am looking over the ticket to make sure there was not an error in delivery. That's how these are tickets that I am procuring for someone else, which also comes across my purview quite often, including parking passes Rutgers, Indiana, again, I got one guy who will remain nameless.

You wouldn't even know his name anyway, but that's a knock. He works in the company. Let's put it that way. He works in the company. You wouldn't know his name. I promise. Ask me for Rutgers, Indiana tickets doesn't know me. We've never met through an intermediary. By the way, and the request I can confirm this. I'm not saying who, but I can request that the intermediary placed the request over the summer. I feel you guys probably get that a lot. Yeah. And so anyway, ask for it. I get the tickets for him and I sent him an email on Monday saying, Hey, just what you didn't forget about you. I got you two tickets. You're good to go. And you race back. That's great. Mike, 10 bomb reports brought to you by Super Bowl 61.

He joins us at this time each and every week. It's a little disappointing for me to get to Florida and go to the address that Mike gives me for his home where I would be staying for two days and turns out wrong address. He threw you off the trail. Yeah. How do you explain yourself? Good strategy, Mike. Yeah, okay, tell you, you know, I was trying to do the man he petty here. Many penny, petty play and I just had a call in the audible at the last second. For a second, Mike, just let's just imagine for a moment you and I walk into a nail salon for a man he petty. Hi, we were just walk ins. We don't have appointments and we get a maybe petty, please. That's a good setup for a joke. We'd like to sit next to each other. We'd like to gab. Absolutely. Mike, let us begin with the giants right now. You were a big JJ McCarthy fan leading up to the draft.

I know you've always been high on them. What was your initial take on this trade for the giants? Love it. No brainer. When you're running a team and you're trying to improve a team guys to improve your roster, you have very limited resources be it salary cap or obviously, you know, draft capital and the only grade you could give JJ McCarthy right now isn't great and complete. I am high on him without question. He played really good football for a long time. I want to probably a dozen of his practices. Those Michigan teams were loaded. He was one of the best players always on the field and to get him for what they gone for like, OK, they have some guarantee money next year. But I think it was an absolute no brainer. I'm surprised that given the fact that he's 23 years old and only played what in 10 games that Minnesota would give up on him and think that maybe Max Brosmer has more upside play that was at UNH until his senior year and then went to University of Minnesota for a year. So look, you know, it's every rock every day.

It's a systematic relentlessness to improve your roster. I think it's one of the better moves they've made in a while. OK, as a general manager, how about the vetting process you're doing for this? Not even so much about the football. I mean, that's pretty clear cut you put on the film. You know, you make your own assertions there. What about the rumors we're hearing about the immaturity behind the scenes and that sort of thing? Do you want to then have any sort of caution about bringing that into your locker room? Yeah, Dan. I mean, like they have the interest to the test. The head coach called his brother. I mean, nobody knows JJ McCarthy better than Jim Harbaugh. They were together every single day. So look, we're all different at 20 years old than we are today. And yeah, he's still a young kid and I'm sure there's things he could have done better different. Like we all can. But I am sure, well, it's public now that the Harbaugh brother spoke and I look. Jim Harbaugh would have told anybody in the pre draft process, how much, you know, JJ Mentor, made him a national champion at Michigan, something they're going to have

for the rest of their lives. And again, he made really good plays and big moments. He was really good at practice. He was really well thought of by his teammates there. Again, things I know didn't go perfectly in Minnesota, but he's 23 years old. With that in mind, Mike, if you were making the deal to go get him and this season is kind of unfolded for the Giants as it has. And we've seen what we've seen from Jamestred 2 games. Do you have a thought in mind as to when you might want to try to start him or is it just, let's see how this goes. Yeah, I think it's much more of the ladder, Chris. Let's get another good football player in the program. We've lost Brian Burns. We've lost Jackson Dart. Like let's add a good player who's young who has, you know, his entire career in front of him. And let's see how it goes. And if James plays great, great. But guys, like we've only played three weeks of the season. It's amazing. Like we're talking about Jalen Daniel starting a game for a team that has big aspirations. Like we're talking about teams that are on their third quarterback already.

Look what happened with the Bears. You know, Case Keenum, that may be the highest leverage game in the season in terms of like Philadelphia and Chicago, Home Field Advantage and things like that. And you know, Tyson Bage and is the backup in Chicago. So if we've learned anything in the first three weeks, guys, like quarterback depth is at a premium more so than ever. Yeah. Half dozen teams already have started multiple quarterbacks in this early part of the season. It's crazy. Mike, can I ask you just an obscure one based off of our game the other day? If you were the giants this week or any other team and they and the dolphins lose to Von H. And is anybody knocking on the door about Malik Willis right now? So fair question. Yeah, I mean, I'm making the call. Yeah, look, I think I always led the league in phone calls like why not? You know, yeah, it's going to be hard for Miami to get to where they want to go and maybe they're looking at next year. It's a great point about H and not being there. You know, Malik Willis to me, look Chris, we did the game. You take out a half a dozen decisions of that pre determining those reads.

There's some really good film on him and he's gotten better. So that's a really interesting point, whether or not they'll move on now. Look, if I'm Jeff Haffley or working head coach, like I want some stability too, we got to build on something. So I'm not sure I'll let Malik Willis walk out the door. Mike, Tannenbaum, our guest here on ESPN, New York, you mentioned the bears and their quarterback situation. A lot of people probably surprised at what case kingdom did on Monday night. The Eagles kind of fell for the trap a little bit. Now we're hearing things, Mike, that they could turn back to Tyson Beijing in the game. Sunday against the jets. If you're Ben Johnson, you're the bears. What's kind of the thought process maybe and how you're going about this? And do you take the pulse of the room in any way because that locker room collectively look like they were pretty pumped up for case. Kingdom after that game. You know, I work with Ben, know him well and you know, a lot of us go through our careers and say, Oh, you know, we don't really care what other people think. And yet like we carried deeply of what other people think. He does it like he will be ruthlessly dogmatic about who plays.

It will truly be in his opinion and his opinion only. You know, what gives them the best chance to win and he's not going to worry about a fan pole or this or that. Look, I thought case game played really good football. Like I thought that was a great example, guys of quarterback. New where he want to go with the ball, read the defense well and got rid of it. Distributed well made a made enough movement in the pocket. Barely, you know, given his age, but he played outstanding. I thought he was accurate anticipation was really good. I thought he did a heck of a job. Mike watching the jets. What's separating them from winning a game like they could have on Sunday and losing that game right now? Yeah, I mean Chris, it's so small. I mean, you know, the same questions will be asked in Dallas, right? The margins are really, really small. Like if I'm a jet fan, like I'm encouraged like, you know, the fundamental question you would ask yourself is if the September 2026 jets played the September 2025 jets, who would win?

I think we'd all feel really good about the trajectory of the team, but you know, it's one or two more plays. It's getting a critical stop. It's not turning the ball over, but they're going to win their fair share games. I don't think there's any question about that. And you saw what Kenyans decid. You know, the thing I like about this team now is like going to the game, you know, we knew about the vulnerability of the line safeties and the jets could take advantage of it. And when Mason Taylor comes back, that's another play. I think it has in the mix. So to me, it's certainly heading in the right direction. Ad and I Mitchell, Omar Cooper, Jr. I mean, there are a lot of pieces, certainly. And like I said, I think this team is three touchdowns better than last year's at the very minimum. And you know, you see how the schedule shakes out. You're playing a backup quarterback this week, Mike. He got Cleveland coming into your building the week after that. I mean, there's a decent chance this team could be three and two going up the Foxboro in a couple of weeks, with a big showdown against the Patriots. Yeah, what's that expression guys? It's not who you play. It's when you play him. Yeah. And despite what we just said about case key and my brother play him, then you know, Caleb Williams.

So it's a long, long, long season. Look, I think the Cowboys may really get trade. Joey Porter Jr. He may not be, you know, an A corner, but he's good. You know, they're lasting the league in third down defense and, um, you know, playing the Dallas this week's going to be a little bit harder than without Joey Porter. So, you know, it's just an amazing, it's just amazing. Like we're three weeks in and we're already talking about players like Max Brasmer and Keith Schienem. Like how many people in the audience knew that Keith Schienem was on an NFL roster on August 1st? Like, you know, if someone said he was like a GA at Chapel Hill, like none of us would have blinked. Mike, great stuff. We appreciate it. And I made it to the airport safely, not that you were asking. You're here. So we figured you made it back. So good. Oh, good. Great stuff. Mike Tannenbaum will tell you this week. Thanks. Thank you. That's Mike T. He will join us each and every Thursday at this time. I think he was genuinely excited that you made it back. Oh, good. Oh, oh, great.
