Welcome back midday show. Hugh Douglas shows Julia you guys about 215-592. 94-94 this segment brought to you by infinity proud sponsor of WIP's Xfinity mobile lounge watch all your favorite teams all in a place. Xfinity imagine that are coming up one hour from now Jack Fritz live in studio. He's been going through all the emotions the last couple days as we all have one o'clock. We'll talk to our guy Brod's you Brod's will be on the show. Well Tampa to check on the fills and maybe he can explain what happened in the flyers first game in the season last night. Bonnie Bonnie was not thrilled at that performance last night. They stunk it up. It was awful. Yeah, seven nothing's not a great way to start the season. We'll get to that with Brod's coming up at one. Hugh we got a game tonight. Now it is tonight. And before we get back to the phones and talk about tonight's game three, I just got to say baseball is ridiculous for the way they scheduled this thing. Hugh until like we were not sure and not just us like us baseball TV networks the fans with tickets down Atlanta heard a Philly's fan calls to the morning show down in Atlanta today they're going to game three today. Nobody was sure that game three

tonight would be tonight until one a.m. this morning because baseball wanted to wait to make sure all of the other series were over if they were they were going to shift this Philly's game from two o'clock to prime time tonight. That's where at now. But it's just crazy like the Phillies. I don't know. I guess they stayed awake last night to watch the Padres game. Padres knocked the Cubs out and the in the Yankees win last night. So that puts the Phillies at night. He wasn't that crazy that baseball wouldn't tell anyone what time this game would play today two o'clock or eight until one a.m. this morning. Yeah, it was kind of odd because you're sitting around waiting to see what time you know, I mean for us in particular what we what we're doing. What are we doing? Sure. And I was like, wow, that's kind of late, you know, to have two early games and then decide to play that's I guess the prime time game. But it's a testament to how how good this game was. I guess I guess that's how you have to look at it. Well, yeah, when you talk about the fact that what the Yankees draw who did they draw the Red Sox? Yeah, that was over quick. That was over real fast. So so this game is the one that you

look at that probably provides the most dry. Right. The only game left because all the series ended. Yeah, the drama. Yeah, right. I'm happy it's on at night. I kind of rather this. I want a prime time game. I think the series deserves it. But the fact that baseball didn't know until one game is just crazy. All right. As far as tonight goes, you coordinate Jim Salisbury and other reporters running out. The Phillies are planning to start aeronol tonight. And the idea I think is to use Zach Wheeler at some point in the game, but Zach Wheeler's not going to start tonight. Aaron Nola is going to get the ball to start tonight. It sounds like the Braves are going to start with a bullpen arm and then go to Grand Homes is more of the book guy. Here your first thought. I look. No, first thought first thought Nola gets the ball first. Then Zach Wheeler likely the next guy to have the ball. Your thought on what they're doing tonight. Okay, say it again. No, the first. No, Zach Wheeler. I think. No, no, no, because I'm I'm here. So we know Nola's about to start tonight. Yes, but that wheel is short short short leash. That's why when you asked me, I wanted to make sure I had exactly

what you were saying. I knew exactly what you're saying. Short leash. Remember last year, Nola started in LA and then they had Ranger behind him. Yeah, this feels like the same thing. Short leash because in the past in the past, Nola has been a little, you know, he he gets he gets, you know, he gets a little shook and then he settles down. This sounds to me like a bit. They're not taking any chances with this. And, you know, maybe two innings, maybe three, if he looks good. That was what they did in LA last year with Ranger. So Zach Wheeler's never started a game on short rest. And I think that's probably playing into this, but he did come out of the bullpen in game seven. It gets a dime back. Spears are going pitch very well. So I expect Wheeler to come in tonight. After that, I don't know. I would not be shocked if Luzardo could pitch again. Matt Gell reported this morning. He went down to the bullpen yesterday. At some point during that game which tells me he was available. So I would think tonight it's going to be Nola. It's going to be Wheeler. Here, I think Luzardo, my pitch again, if they need him. And then we'll see if Durran and what

because Durran wasn't available yesterday according to, uh, maddenly in accordance with reports after the game. That's why painter could get in the baseball. So let's hope that Durran is ready to go after throwing a bunch of two days ago. But I would think Nola Wheeler. I mean, if it was me, it'd be Nola Wheeler, Luzardo and Durran. That's the only people that would touch the baseball today. I mean, Farland, I like, uh, but he has his two days in a row. So I'm not sure how his arm would be on a third day. So it's going to be Nola tonight. I'm okay with the plan. Nola first. And then let's go to Zach Wheel. Let's go to Anthony and McCannock Spurg up on WIP Anthony. Yo, you Joe Bonnie. What's going on? Anthony. What's up? How are you feeling? Hey, um, yeah, Hugh, uh, Michael McDonald backing vocalists for Steely Dan before he went to the Dubey brothers. You're about to know it all. We're talking about the oldies. Yeah. We're talking about the oldies here, right? And we got what a full believes and worse than believe in fools here. Aren't we? We are. I am a complete fool and I can't

wait for game three and I think they're going to win this game, Anthony. And some of full. That's me. Hey, let me, let me, let me tell you something, um, you know, in that vein, the Phillies are the oldest team in the playoffs still and their experience is showing and you want to talk about the adult in the room. Let's talk about Caleb. Cawthom going out there to settle down Sanchez before the three, two, three, double play. And then also after painter throws six balls taking care of his lemon booty on the mound. Two lemon booze. You know, I would love to know what he said to Andrew painter. He's Anthony. You're right. Six straight balls. I wasn't ready either. It wasn't ready. I know, I know, I know it's a funny term. But hey, listen, they flipped it around on the brave. They're the ones that got it now. So, you know, tonight when you think about the strategy, you've got Nola. You've got, you got Wheeler. And then if you can hand the ball to painter

maybe and go straight to the run, you're good to go at that point. And then lastly, you know, we've seen Courage, Weiss in September already at this point. Yes, we have the Phillies. The Phillies are not looking at somebody they haven't seen before. And if they can stay patient and not swing at that sweeper, you, they're going on brother. They're going on. I feel it, man. Anthony, I feel it's a good phone call. So, you know, Anthony, but besides throwing the term lemon booty into the show, is that our first lemon booty we've had on the show? I don't know if it's the first, but it's been a while. I don't know if I've ever heard a caller say lemon booty. I feel like you would be the one to use the lemon booty to. It's called, we call it a bun hold. I just remember his crazy. It's like the, the buck. It makes sense. Yeah. So, you know, he brought up experience here. You know what I think was kind of lost in the shuffle before the series? What you got? Well, two things. So a lot of pressure always on the Phillies in October and we're talking about the run is kind of coming to an end and they're old and all that. You know, they brought it up during the broadcast. I think it was either yesterday or game one on NBC.

The Braves have been one to play off series. 2021 when they won the World Series. So I think there's a lot of, I could see that team and that crowd tonight being tight. They've had as much as the Phillies have had disappointing October's recently. How about the Braves? They even want to play off series in five years. And then he'll the other thing to talk about. Maddenley's experience, right? He's been in a lot of these games. Caleb caught them. The picture coach yesterday going out and doing a good job. You know what? Why is the Braves manager? This is his first ever playoff series. So as much as the Braves. There's a lot of newness around. I'm saying they're having pressure. Did they have a manager who's never managed in the post season before we have the opposite. Maddenley has, you know, a good amount of experience. I just, I think the Braves are in trouble. And I think yesterday they should have ended this thing and they didn't. And now the Phillies have a real chance to get a buddies in Akron on WIP buddy. Hey, good morning guys and Bonnie. Good morning, buddy. What are you feeling today? Oh, I guess I used to call on a, like, put it I guess in a scene of red first.

If I didn't, I could ask you a question. I hope he doesn't mind. I asked another question about your book. Yeah, go for it. Go ahead, buddy. So I'm up to this. I'm up to the big red chapter. And don't let me misquote it, but did you clean the phrase that you call him big red first? Yeah, because I thought he was crazy. Yeah, big red big red here. You don't get enough credit for that. Oh, no. I mean, it was just, it was just one of those things. Cause you know, big fight. Well, he's great. He's big gray now. Yeah, he's big used to be right. Yeah, he used to be red, but yeah, that you called him big red. Called him big red. Well, wow, congratulations on it. You know what? You said to say to word big red, everybody knows that. Yeah, big red. That should be your resume. Big red. Good for you. That's that's that's all about about a lot of people. Like, he's, you know, that's just used to be used to. Yeah, I've kind of toned it down a little bit. I've toned it down a lot. I'm not sure about that. I think that's a good idea. But that's not what I was going to say. Yeah, buddy. Yeah. So I guess you know, I lead into red October hasn't quite felt like that yet.

I think tonight at some point that's going to kick in. And when we start to feel that this era is coming home to us. And then that spirit of just red October through the whole city. I am looking forward to that. I think everybody else is I got my red ring the bow shirt. And I'm going to look like the cool lead man. And. That's a go you're ready to go buddy and we got a prime time game. I buddy. What do you feel? And they get to win this game tonight? We are winning this game and coming back home and I promise that when we do I'm going I'm putting money on it My mouth into this whatever you want to call it. I'm all stumbled up here That's all right, but we do it every day. It's the playoffs. It's October. I mean, we're just kind of in a hate It's October is the first. Yeah, it's it especially red October now. What was the last two days? I got it I got a new query that they sticked out What's that? For you guys I'm going to bring I'm going to bring ice cream next week when we The dance this series a real local Lancaster creamery that has phenomenal ice cream already stick that I've been eating ice cream

Buddy, can I just say this man? You bring us as incredible. You giving us some incredible ice cream But just just I just need to say this as a black man Pumpkin ice cream Is not on my bingo car. Well as a white man. It's on mine. So I Tried but you know, I'm just saying like it sweet potato ice cream now if you make some sweet potato ice cream I'm sure that'd be good. It will Like it's this the same thing is sweet potato pie pumpkin pie It's not the same and no that's what I'm saying today. Yeah, no, I know it's not the same thing But if you if you if you came with some sweet potato ice cream, but he's not making the ice cream. No, I'm just I'm just say I'm just trying to give you yeah, I'm trying to give you a View a purview of like you know the the holiday home right anybody. No pumpkin No, no, that's not a lot of people He's a lot of white people a lot of people not no white people. Okay, well, I'm like with all the respect It's obviously the products moving. I know I know I'm saying because they were they're from the They're from the crib they're from Ohio so yeah, you know, well, so is is cost rubber. Yeah, so we're so Douglas. Yes Highly recent a lot of legends from the from the state of Ohio That was a big home run for cost rubber yesterday Even bigger one for Bryce Harper even bigger one for Alec bomb as the Phillies win a dramatic game to our coming up at 12 o'clock Jack Fritz will join us will keep taking Phillies footballs all show long as we get ready for game number three tonight two one five five nine two ninety four ninety four but Before we go any further a quick temper to check on the Eagles here here So it's a tough Monday night income the Rams on Sunday the Eagles are three point underdogs

They haven't been this big of a home underdog in three years So it's pretty rare there. I mean, it's pretty rare. They're ever underdogs at home And when they are it's usually by a point or two or two and a half there about a full fuel goal underdog Which is pretty significant at home here Here temper to check on the Eagles as we get ready for this week I will get to the injury stuff here, but I I think a lot of people are concerned with either both the offense and defense Or certainly at least one of the offense or defense What's your concern level right now? Well, you know, Joe, I hate that you put me in this spot Number one. I want to say that blame in me. Yeah, perhaps get a tough question here. Okay Now I allowed me to long talk for a minute because this is locked on pack and this is and I just want to tell the fans This is the way that I feel this is I have nothing to go off of this on It's just me listening to what's already been said and gathering new miss new new information Every day So to answer your question and long form. Yes, there there is some concern there for a bunch of different reasons Joe and one of the biggest reasons is

Is because the season just really just started We're going in the week four Already in a new offense With growing pains that are obvious, right We're already in a sense and my in my opinion Kind of point fingers I mean and that to me is a little concerning given the fact that we knew going into this that there was a lot of newness That that that is going on with this team now a lot of this is coming from What I've heard other people say not knowing for sure if it's if it's true or not but It with air smoke there's fire right and you know when Seth comes out and says that you know There's a little bit of angst between the two coaches. I listen to it I don't know how true it is, but when Seth says it I listen to it because Seth's plugged in right, but I will say this to that A lot of times you know when an office court and especially young coordinator

Goes upstairs is because he gets a better view of the field and that's what we were told why they did what they did Yes, that's what they said a better view of the field and I and I think to some extent that's what it is but Given that couple with the rent that we've seen on the sideline from jalen now granted it's a small thing But if if you're looking at it jalen, I've never seen jalen Be that animated on the sideline. I've never seen it. I've never seen it It's one of the things he's usually even keeled right good or bad. He keeps his composure He lost composure and I'm not Not mad, but it was notable and it was a crucial part of the game so I get that so and again Let me say it again for the folks that just got in the car sometimes I do tend to over analyze things So take what I say with a grain of salt take it with grain of salt But that that part and then you have lane and it it was a small thing Let me read the quote that you referenced in case people missed it

So Jeff McLean had a quote from Lane Johnson after the game on Monday About the fourth and one right the fourth and one the serial number has been asked about 15 times now When he talked about he wants to play back the quote from Lane post game was quote I don't know if we didn't pay attention to the clock There was a play but I don't think we're all on the same play I think there's a lot of miscommunication that was Lane Johnson on the fourth and one after the game That's what he was referring to yes and and when I hear Lane say that As a former footballer You're talking about the quarterback You're you're you're talking you're indirectly talk you're directly indirectly Talking about the quarterback and with all that being said again I tend to over analyze things sometimes, but that's that's I'm 55 that I'm allowed to do that now I'm an older gentleman, so I'm allowed to over analyze if I want to But given all of that and the fact that we are At the beginning of the season is a little concerning for me because that feels like It's a little bit of uh frustration With the direction that the offense is going in and and I also say that there's been some growth from jalen

Now maybe maybe again me recklessly speculating Maybe the frustration is that they feel or somebody feels That jalen isn't learning it fast enough, but I think that you know given the new offense and the new onset offense He's he's grown, but I think that maybe maybe There's some folks out there that feels like he's not growing fast. Well, maybe I don't know I mean the offense is a concern. There's no question I mean the three announced are piling up there will only scored 18 points again the first three weeks And I they're gonna face better teams. I mean these first three defenses they they saw are not great defenses specifically tennis. He's a bad defense The bears are an average defense washed and probably no better than an average defense Maybe not even that good. So it will get harder Thought it was interesting. Jason Kelsey was on the spawning. Jason Kelsey actually called in the Sporning from London where he is for the NFL broadcast this weekend We're gonna be next week. Jason. Jason Kelsey called in from London And I thought his take on the Eagles was was notable. Here's Jason this morning on the concern level He has you I've heard Jason speak enough over the years

Not just on wip but like you know when he was a little player When I he when Jason doesn't say like he didn't say no right Joseph yeah, but yeah Yeah, he he said uh He doesn't have great confidence. He didn't say he said super concerned But that makes when I hear Jason not express huge confidence It makes me think that there's there is some concern probably deep down for the way they've played and now Here I guess there's two parts this I think we all feel that was when you get blown out in the game like they did You feel some concern are you more concerned with the offense or the defense because They're both having issues right now at the same time. It's not a good recipe. Well I'm more concerned with the defense and here's why Because the defense was supposed to be the the the the rock solid yeah Entity on this squad they had to carry things yes that that because we knew going into this I look at it like this Joe There's gonna be some growing pains. There's gonna be some frustration But as long as we're on the same page I'm willing to deal with that and and part of my concern comes from It feels like on the outside looking in because I'm not as plugged in as Jason, but it feels like

There's a little bit of finger point A little bit especially when you talk about Like Seth coming saying that you know, man and Sireani are at odds. I don't know if that's true or not But it's out there. Don't know if it's true or not, but it's out there And my my first thought is what hell Why are you at odds with somebody that has been tasked With making this team better this early in the season That's the problem like for me that's the problem when I think about it like that that's the problem Why are we knowing that this offense is a working progress right In my in my opinion throwing cat son to the bus By throwing out there and know like be okay being here in Philadelphia and you know how we overanalyze everything We are plugged into this team. We love to fill it up for Eagles Why would you throw that out there? Why would you say we had a play But somebody didn't know it or or or somebody didn't see the club

You you don't do that like to me. You don't do that. You're adding fuel to the fire You're you're allowing me to sit here and recklessly speculate because I'm going off for what you say I'm sitting there and I'm listening to you and and I'm I'm drawing conclusions off of what you said, you know So now you got that and you got you know the ran on the sideline out of character for Jalen There's that is safe to say that it feels like there's some frustration. Well, I agree with you All right, so here's how I here's my perspective here. I am Short term more concerned with the defense for the same reason you are right they need the defense to be really good But long term I'm way more concerned with the offense I mean long term I think big fans you will figure this out and they'll figure it out on that side I don't know if they're going to figure it on the offensive side. I don't know I don't know if it's going to happen this season you have a rookie coordinator Seriani's not helping on the offense Jalen's going to go up and down offensive line out what it used to be I'm I'm concerned about the offense They might not be a good offense this season defense. I think they'll figure it out in time He won more quick thing than we'll go back to the lines on all the calls with the fillies and people get chime in the Eagles as well

Here we also have now have injury concerns on the defense. So Let's start with the one yesterday that I don't think anyone knew about so Zach Bond listed as a did not practice yesterday with concussion My guess is based on the concussion protocol. He's not going to place on day It's very rare that a guy has a concussion and then clears protocol on a regular week you there They're dealing with one last day right they're playing they play Monday short week So I think we're not going to have bond this week. That's a big loss The other thing and this is not a new thing we just getting more clarification. So according to Jeff Beclaim He'll the Eagles Jalen Carter defensive tackle has a hairline fracture in his right wrist He got the injury week one. We know about that. He's played with the soft cast the last two games His playing time is decreased although he's still playing the most at his position He now we have some clarification on what this is here's my my concern with the Carter issue How does this heal during the season? I just wonder if he's going to have to deal with this the entire year And do we ever get to see the best of him because the first couple games it feels like he's he's up and down in some good place I'm not and I keep seeing him shaking that wrist that which means it's bothering him. Yeah

I'm of the mindset at at at 55 right and I'm always couched with that because I'm not out there playing I don't know what he feels like But it just feels to me and I and and this is kind of how I approached playing When you go out there you you can't have like if you go out there in your heart That is cute whatever is Ellen you cannot be a detriment to you while you're out there playing You know and and I talked to a friend of mine and I asked him about wrist injuries and things of that nature And and he was basically telling me all depends on what bone it is But it is you can't play with it. It is doable. He's out there playing But the impact that we need him to make he's not that guy and and I think the tough part about the injury that he has is that It's coming off of it's an injury coming off of the fact that you just got paid a gripperton You just got paid a ton of money and we just seen a guy Last week a couple weeks ago. I should say That got paid after you got paid

That went out there and was a game record And now we we see you and the fact that this defense is struggling and this was supposed to be The the tip of the spear if you will for this team It's it's not fair, but it's not a good look It's not a good look for you to be out there shaking your wrist and and Um, I'm not gonna say half ass showing up, but you're you're flashing, but not to the extent where The paycheck I know I know they need to be better and you said it's not an excuse You but it could be a reason he doesn't play as best if he's I mean we did this last year with landen remember landen had The knee issue he had this quick surgery came back You landen wasn't himself the whole year last year he gutted it out And I just hope we're not about to have a year where we're jailing Carter's just not himself because he's playing on one hand 215 592 90 for knife or are you going on the Eagles as well? Worked certain e offense or defense. I'm long term Way more concerned with the offense short term I am concerned with the defense. But you know, Carter's got a wrist. Yeah fractured his wrist bonds got a concussion income the Rams

This is gonna be a challenging week And of course the Phillies here as we get ready for game three Larry is in Philadelphia on wip Larry Hey, how y'all doing Larry what's up, buddy? What are you feeling? So I had some praise one about the Phillies in the English level. Yeah go for it But with the Phillies um, I was I was driving while listening to the game and um I was in the I lost my voice screaming when um When they went back to back homeers. I was just like you know, then bone came up and I'm like alright bombers It's time for you to sign man you the guy you know, you know, you know, you're the cleanup guy You know and then he's trying to go and then it was actually anything he hit that he had that beautiful beautiful beautiful home world Um, and I was just like yes, and then you know the rookie kid Painter he just like he painted and it was just like It's for me that felt like It felt like a world's a world series even though it wasn't it's all like painter stepped up in the spot where it was like

Chief clenching world series Phil and I was like That's that's that's baseball like yes, that's a food space point I was like yes, no, he's got to do it again and my prediction for the for the score. I think that um I think mainly got something going. I think that Nola is going to go at least four innings and I think Willer is going to finish it out You know get give the ran uh or arrest for the for the Dodgers if we you know if you get there um, but I think that is going to be six five Oh, well that yeah, I don't know my blood pressure could handle left Yeah, 11 11 Let me Larry. I don't know if my blood pressure or my heart can handle another extra any game I mean I that was that was a lot yesterday. It was a lot But I I grew to a painter it is it is fun to watch a young player especially a young pitcher grow up in front of our eyes He did that yesterday Larry. What do you want to say on the birds? I like the birds um You I got I got to take you one of your things I read reckless specley um I think that

You know um Manly uh, I mean We can do that. It's it's it's it's the mid-dech so we can we'll take you man. Yeah I think he called the right play Because you know who was coming in I believe he called the right play but I think Nick Serriani You know him being who he is and wanting to be I'm the head coach is where I say goals. I think he'd be I think he called a audible and he threw the industry you know um cause that cause um you know the red red red Red rifle So it's a conspiracy theory in the Andy don't know the exception we we need to take your reckless family sabotage the play So he yeah I think Nick said you know it's a whole new love and it's your fault yeah Yeah and and that's why Dylan was mad on saltline he like man like We got a new offense run it and then you want to go back and do dumb stuff and yeah I think jayla was pissed off at him and Because he knew it when you know manly one Call and I think yeah, I think it was I think sure I think uh, yeah, but in that case, but we

I think he he missed the mess left man messed up for us Well, you know he he may have been rejected too much layer I'm not sure about that particular play we appreciate the phone call but you know The fourth and one might have been part of that you get manual in the boot you get searing the sideline He got hurts on the field yeah V toe power and clock is moving. It's a big decision. You know You know he was sometimes when there's too many cooks in the kitchen things get messed up that but see jode as the thing I've been told and part of my reckless speculation comes from the fact that I was told before the season started By people that are in decision or in position to make decisions That full anonym and manony autonomy full sea anemone who was given what's that word? See anemone I'm being silly. Yeah, but full autonomy Was given coach manion that was a part of his job description when he got here That's what we all talked about because And see this is this is the thing. This is when you know I don't forget what was told to me and sometimes you remember remember I was told

That he was giving full autonomy because it had to be different right hasn't looked that different And now we're getting these stories reckless to speculate that there's a little rift Between as I just do my hands like this to add to the body and slums out of sure That there's a rift between the coach and the coordinator come on man. We can't we trying to get to the superbow man We got we got we got bills to pay we trying to make it to California Trying to get out there go to the game. We can't we can't have this too early. It's too early in the season For it to feel like this is unwrapped right We only score seven points in the game. They didn't they're unraveled. Yeah, I think stuff hits the fan pretty quick See you know what this this all could have been solved years ago if If if like I said if you had to come to Jesus moment somebody need to get slanted The receiver well somebody else need to be some more folks need to be slapped across the list Are you well? You know it was the Rams game last year where you had the just slander and I'm surprised you didn't get sued for libel when you said that

When you said that a pitulo got slapped across the lips of the side line Which I get me a trouble forever, but I am I'm right there on the line. Yeah, you've gone over it When the trouble come I'll be right there on the line. I don't cross over line, but I'd be right there Just say it was the Rams game last year where you really took the took the whole thing to a different level Is it the Rams game this year maybe I don't know because the way office looked against the bears Boy if office look like that against the Rams Boy might get ugly. Oh, we're in the panic. I'm gonna get a panic Let's go to mad Mike who's up on WIPM sure he's enjoying the the fillies Is we the eagle struggling on Monday. What's up Mike? Hey, it's been a long time guys. It has he been Good doing great. I mean eagle stank jalen hurts as a fraud Uh Your the head coach you have been calling us do nothing dimway for years Did more do nothing and was more of a dimway again on the side lines and Can we also stop with all the mouth brewers call it insane the fills are gonna go the world series

They're getting eliminated tonight guys knocking off. Well, they're gonna win tonight. So that tonight's good I'm not sure about the world sir. Yeah, they're letting eliminated and then all the mouth brewers are gonna be like We're in for a lockout now like it's come on like Knock it off guys just knock it off. Let's let's be realistic like you know the Eagles Barely scape scoped escape by the uh the commanders and the titans they got punched in the mouth Jalen looks like the the guy that's in co-tail riding for all these years has come into fruition And the head coach does more doing nothing but yelling at people on the side lines because that's all he's good for Well, it's only felt like that on on Monday night. I mean Ben Johnson's Like that every game well, but it's worse when he's getting coach out coached by the other guy I mean Ben Johnson just ran circles around him on Monday. It was gross. I can't wait till the Rams completely Decimate them on This week on Sunday like Puka is just running for unlimited yardage

In kai reen Williams Well, it could happen. I mean Mike we pushed the phone coming here. They're underdogs in this game for a reason And Puka is gonna play this this feels like a challenge this weekend It feels like a bigger it does it does you know when you talk about The way this offense is running and the misdirection and some of the things that The bears were able to do and coming off of a team that just coming off of that loss and the Rams coming off the loss their own and and you know They've they probably felt slighted the last couple times they've been here. Of course they have you know, so so now we're we're We're in the middle of something that it just feels like I I just hope put it like this. I'm done reckless speculating for right now, but put it like this Let's hope that all of these rumors and everything that we're here coming out of air is not true Because they need to come together they need they need to they need to come together and it's not it's not It's not the end of the world. It's not But you need you need to get some stuff together and it's not

When a coach say he wasn't prepared that that's not a good feeling. It's it's a terrible. It's a terrible look Here's what's going on this the storm is coming. They got a weather the storm right it's a long season and they'll have Spockets of the schedule. We're it's easier They got to get through this because this this feels like a tough spot in the schedule with the bears and the Rams and then the Jaguars after that It's good to joshing down a town. What's up josh? Yeah, just calling um, you know, obviously the game yesterday, you know the biggest BOOM part of it was the home run I think the we thought you guys talked about a little bit the The Double play you know the the three the two three two double play You know for him to start that play was one thing throw a strike to jt But for him to get back to the bag and the biggest part I think was the catch you know that throw was right up the bait right up the baseline How many times have we seen either the the arm get hit or the guy shies away and that ball goes in the right field If that happens there There's no shot we went that game. I agree josh. I'm with you man that

That they they tight rope walked out of a lot of situations in the fur in the middle innings of that game And then obviously the seventh inning it went bad for them with the briseness play But there were a lot of moment that that's why I feel really good about today Because the braze have to walk away from that game saying we had them on the ropes four or five times And we let them off the hook And I just think when you let a dead team come back to life it comes back to get you I mean they they were that's the kind of game that they lose in all these postseason shots. They won that one They usually lose that game I agree and I think you hit the nail in the head With the braves you know postseason record against the fillies and the history I think that that puts all the pressure even more you know that's in the back of their heads and You know there this is the fillies game to lose tonight. I mean there's no reason they should lose this game I agree they I think well they have the better pitching lined up especially because you know We think we always gonna give them some innings who just be a priest of phone call And I just think that's gonna be a tight building. We have seen it here the other way right when the fillies are

When the fillies are supposed to win and then they start to blow it what has happened? It's said is this bank park it gets tight in there and the you the home team starts to feel I think tonight is the opposite The braves blew it yesterday They they were they had six outs and they were they were headed to LA today on a plane to go play the Dodgers They blew it And now they have to come back and play another game. They don't have a starting pitcher lined up for the game They're gonna see Zach Wheeler at some point I think the braves might be tight tonight and Hugh as much as we talk here about the fillies failures That braves group they haven't want to play off series in five years. They're starting to feel it that that's That's heavy when you say like that because that means that that most of those guys were they've been there for that Yeah, and that that's something that You know you you try to block it out as a player But When the weight of the moment comes in and you remember I by Dan we won before in this moment It's it's a little nerve wrecking when I imagine for them too for some of them that have been there while he was groundhog day The fillies knocked him out in 22 fillies knocked him out in 23 I just think you know that there is a moment there late neck game when the ball goes over Harper said

It felt like this year's curkering it felt like it was over and the fact that we are still talking about the fillies today In a way we got a game tonight I think there's braves are in big trouble. Let's go to Sean and plume with me. What's up Sean John you what's going on what's up Sean what do you think, man I'm thinking that this is the fillies game uh the braves had them wrapped up in the seventh inning and the braves just let them right off the hook and this is the fillies game all day I feel you and they did let them off the hook I mean it wasn't like it was a one run you know bleed and it was you know It kind of came in in a weird way It was a two run lead and it was just a mind melting play by Bryce Harper and that that should have been the play That the braves won the game on and the fact that the fillies tied it you know 10 minutes later I just thought it took all the momentum away from Atlanta. It was awesome It was awesome and it was a gritty win and that's exactly what you need in the post season the post season is all about just grit And working hard and just getting the job done and to get the job done yesterday. That is huge

That is huge. I'm expecting a good game today from JT after that walkoff too Well, I look this whole game and Sean is speaking of the walkoff and we appreciate the phone call Hugh They got to save all the challenges for JT JT is so good at stealing strikes or you know kind of knowing a ball is actually a strike Yeah, I got a feel for the game. Yeah I mean there's no when he when he's signaled for the challenge yesterday Vanny I knew it was a strike. I mean that was like oh JT thinks it's a strike. It's a strike No more Harper first inning challenges, please All for JT I just want I'd want JT to use all the challenge. He's really good at it And I actually think he should do it more. I mean he's he's kind of he's conservative about how often he does it But he's usually right when he gets there will Will in the North he says well, what's up, how How you doing? What's up? Oh man listen I want to say to the fills just keep weathering the storm baby We're gonna come out on the side Listen man. I'm glad you're deal with your day. You're dug in deep. You know y'all y'all You know the time when y'all in panic listen man finish up what you started and I'm telling you

I can guarantee I hope y'all listen I can guarantee We beat these guys at home Listen the rest is going to be cupcakes man. I'm telling you And I know y'all may be saying I'm you know will you look for a fetch? No, I've always seen this Listen I already knew y'all was going to do what y'all's going to do because we don't give up as a little bit See we're gonna play good listen just stay one game at a time baby and hit the ball We got to run the score up y'all and we're gonna do what we gotta do to win and I got y'all man Y'all good tonight. Let's do it for the Eagles Bring it bring a tie-wob some man. You know I'm saying I think he's going to be a good, you know Pick up it and put him put him play it whatever and you know I just think like we just got to start playing these guys that sit in on a bench man Because we got on a field right now. It don't look like they into it What I want to say also is Listen, I'm sick of here. The blame is jaylin. The blame is just the blame is you know what you don't you open jaylin go run

This office put them over to quarter better because we already seen what they could do in a preseason Like I'm trying to hear it. Let this man learn the office that people stop interrupting with the office of coordinators Trying to call and let the office of my play ball and stop rolling and trying and listen. Let's get back on the roll man. I'm trying to hear every week. This is a bigger than being listen We learned it everybody. We learned a new office. Learn a new place. Learned everything new man But you gotta give it time and I'm willing to give jaylin time because this he wanted to learn it and he won't win And that's what it's all about winning man. So listen, let's stop running down on our teams man. Let's give him some time And let's go here. It's start winning. That's all god. You got it. We'll appreciate it. All right. Let's go fillies We'll fire it up today on all the the jailing stuff Well But here's let me just say this because he said at the end get a give time jail on time to learn it You I don't have questions of jail and can learn the office the question is execution right and being on time with the ball

And I said this on I guess it was Tuesday To me, it's not the throws that you see jail and make it's when you watch it again Or you see someone like chase it a vaunt break it down and the throws he doesn't see it right like yeah He may throw a six yard crosser and or whatever and out and it's it's whatever six yards But he he doesn't see the guy 20 yards deep open like though That's what he needs to get he needs to execute the offense when he has time in the pocket or not bail out of the pocket better That's That's the thing not that he can't do it or to can't learn it. It's can he do it on time? It's it's the best way I can describe it for you for me when I when I came to lead the game moved a lot faster Then I was accustomed to Right and I remember like and I always talk about the first game I've played was damn arena My head was spinning like a top Because I had and I always say I had the best seat in the house Because on one side I had richman web over there choking me out and then damn arena Throwing dimes and cussing out his receivers and and throwing the ball down the field

And I just remember being frustrated because It felt like nothing I could do I it felt like I wasn't ready for this game because it was moving too fast So the game has to slow down for jaylin I mean, I guess that's the best way I can describe it because when you talk about some of the stuff that's happening and people say Oh, you see this in that it's different when you're out there. It looks easy on television But it's different when you're out there when you got to go through these quick progressions And make a decision to throw the football and not only make the decision to throw the football But to know how much touch to put on the football so that that crossing defender Won't be in position to make a play and so you can run after catch it I mean think about that and I'm not saying he can't do it But think about the process that goes into making those snap decisions that Brock Purdy makes In a in a split second or or or some other quarterbacks made he's doing that He's just a hair slow and and that that's not excuse That's that's me trying to let you in on on how it could potentially look for him and once it slows down

Then he'll be able to see that feel a little bit different. It took three weeks man And a lot of pressure Took for the game to slow down for me and when it slowed down then then you know It feels different because I can tell you my first game out there Randall kickoff and and ran three plays and it felt like I did not Do any cardio. I was breathing heavy. I was my you know my mouth was dry. Yeah, it's a lot. It's a lot I did pull up the box score September 3rd 1995 52 to 14 dolphins over Jets Not I want to see a lot of you Douglass's in the end of tackles or sacks for some reason Let's see how does zero sex your name that day just Do shut out. I never get rich. We had this big old gap in his mouth right And he was just over there had his hands around the the collar of my neck just choking me out the whole game And my coach like get off the block get okay. What are you doing? Use your hands and he over there He said word. He just every play. He just grabbed me and just joking

Imagine the people that probably took this guy in the first round. I can't play It's it's a lot. So it's like it's not when I when I was telling stories like that It's not to give anybody excuse because that's your job. You know that's your job But man it ain't that easy It's not that easy. It's not that easy. All right coming up. We're gonna be joined by Jack Fritz actually before we hit the break here Can we hear a little bit of Jack's rant from yesterday before we bring Jack on so Jack's coming up at noon He'll be in studio with us. I just want just a piece of yesterday How Jack's and we know how down he was the day before Jack last night he and the Phillies have new life here was Jack last night It's already dead you can't kill what's already dead. That is the rebirth of an era baby Fricking birth of an era they need a little bit of alchomo They need a little bit of momentum and I tell you what we've begged begged Bags for stars to be stars and what did they do when they really really screwed up when they really screwed up?

And all I can think about honestly the second happened all I can think about was I wanted to use the dumb and dumber gift Like just when I thought you couldn't get any dumber you go out and do something like this and totally redeem yourself Holy cow. I mean that is a win That's a win that can start a run On go mo on the Phillies side our Jack joins us next you on on sports radio 94 WIP you know You know I like me some bourbon and I like I mean some really really good bourbon and my bourbon of choice is not Let it in with for reserve the official bourbon of the Kentucky Derby in this month.
