So in order for the Yankees to erase the stain of yesterday, they have to win tomorrow, they have to win Thursday, they have to win Saturday. So I looked up how many times have they had a three game or more winning streak this year? And the answer is 12 times. Now I'm not saying that to make you feel confident because those three game winning streaks did not come against a race team that's clicking on all cylinders and also as Rasmussen going in the second game of those three.
We'll see if the Yankees can pull it together and put together a clean performance tomorrow night. It starts with Max Fried. Max Fried has to pitch great. Now you're going to put the ball on play against Max Fried so the infield is going to be tested. And I know they're probably going to be on high alert. Will they be able to handle that kind of pressure? There'll be 48,000 people the Yankees stayed in tomorrow. Now one thing that I'm always curious about, you know, I was scrolling through doom scrolling through anti social media today. And so many people, they want to put the blame for the Yankees losing these first two games to the race somehow on me because of opinions I have. You know, you do a radio show every day and you can have opinions. Some of them people are going to like some of them they won't. That's okay. That's what makes talk radio go around.
But the thing I don't get. So on the yes post game yesterday, I was very critical of the way they played. Very critical. I don't know how you could retain any kind of legitimacy unless you're critical of the way they perform yesterday. You have to. You have to be honest to your listeners and your viewers. Otherwise they won't come back. But then you get like people that go, yeah, the case, case talking tough until he gets that phone call from Brian Cashman. Until the Yankees tell him the changes opinion. And then I look deeper into the people that say this and, you know, you get follows you. And I would say what kind of moron are you? If you have so little respect that I'm actually giving you what I think and not what I'm told to say, why would you follow me? That would make you a complete adult. But you follow me and you listen to this show.
So what are you trying to get out of it? If you think I'm a compromised person. As many people out there seem to think, why would you follow me? Doesn't make you a fool? Doesn't that make you somebody with very low IQ? I think this guy's full of it. I can't wait to hear what he says. Oh, this guy's not going to tell us the truth. Oh, the Yankees write him a script and he says it. But I can't wait to watch it, listen to a show or watch it on YouTube. I can't wait to go to the ESPN New York YouTube channel sponsored by the Parisman firm because I want to see what this Yankee asset says. What does that make you? It makes you an idiot. And I don't want you to listen. And I don't want you to follow me on Twitter. I've gone past the point of blocking people. I've been blocked the person I think in like five years. I do something better. I mute you.
And the beautiful thing about that is you don't even know you've been muted. And I don't see a word that you say. But you think that you're getting my attention. You're not. So if you say something that I think is ass and I, I don't want to have you in my head. But you seem to want to listen to somebody that you think is getting marching orders from the Yankees. That's a you problem, baby. That's not a me problem. And let's be honest. You think the Yankees like that they're 35 year voice of the team is criticizing them as as stringently as I am right now. Of course they don't, but they also realize the value of telling the truth. And if they disagree with something that I say, maybe they'll reach out and they'll give their side of it. But nobody tells me what to say. But for those that think that people tell me what to say and you still can't get enough.
Whoop. You've got some issues, man. You should you should get some help. And you guys know who you are because you're probably listening right now and you're probably a little embarrassed. So you think cashman's going to give me a call and tell me I don't want you to talk like that. And then I'm going to change what I say. Yeah, makes sense. And also makes sense that you'd want to hear what I have to say. People. Come on. Yankees had a terrible night last night. And I think people get upset because they don't agree with their scorched earth. Your fans, you're supposed to feel that way. You want everybody fired and everybody traded. I try to look into a more rational manner. And if you can't accept that, again, you don't have to listen to the show.
I promise you, nobody's going to track you down. We don't have drones circling all the houses that listen or all the cars that have us on. No, no, you could turn it off and go somewhere else and see if you get better content. And I'm not even quote unquote creating content. I'm just telling you my truth. That what I saw yesterday was absolutely abhorrent. And the people that took part in it at every level should be embarrassed by that performance on that stage in a game of that import. Don't know what else you want me to say. Not sure what else you want me to say. But if you want me to say this guy should be fired. That guy should be fine. Well, I used to hang down LaGrecco about this. I've been doing this 25 years now. Not just the Yankees, every team. I have never, ever, ever uttered the phrase that this person should be fired. Never. And I never will because I do realize that there's families behind it.
I could tell you that they're doing a terrible job. But I'm never going to advocate for somebody to be fired. So again, if you're coming here to hear me say this guy should be fired. That guy should be fired. I don't do it. I've never done it in 25 years. I'm not going to do it now. But I'll tell you if somebody's doing a bad job, whether or not they get fired, that's up to the people I make those decisions. You could probably hear from the tone of my voice when I am talking about these people, whether or not I think they're doing a good job. But for me, like a lot of screaming memeys on talk radio, I'm not going to stand on a soapbox and say, this guy's terrible. He should be fired. You don't get that here. I think you get a little bit more nuance to what I have to say. But you're a fan. You're a rate as you should be about yesterday. And you're screaming at the top of your lungs. Boom has to go. Cashman has to go. That's for you to say, don't expect me to power at your nonsense. And it's up to one person. Really a couple of people up to the Steinbeer and a family.
What they want to do with the people that run their team. It's up to them. You can scream as much as you want. Maybe they'll hear. There are some organizations that let the fans dictate what they do. And those organizations are usually bad ones. You have that respect for the fan because they're the paying customer. I get that, but you don't let them run your team. You don't let them make personnel decisions. Because most of the time they're reacting as a fan. They're not thinking three steps ahead. They're not thinking financially. They're thinking emotionally. I want this guy gone. Five, four hours yesterday, eight mistakes. Boom has to go. That's how a fan is. But the ones that say, I'm gonna get a phone call from Cashman and I'll change my tune. You're all clowns. You really are all clowns. And the only reason that I'm calling you a clown is because you're listening to me. And if you aren't listening to me, it wouldn't matter. You wouldn't know that I'm calling you a clown. But if you think that somebody's telling me what to say and you're still listening, you're wasting your day.
The one thing you get from me all the time, I'm not into theatrics. I am not saying stuff or clicks. I don't need your clicks. I mean, if this all went away, it would go away. I've had a really nice career. I don't need your clicks. I'm not some young kids starting a podcast that needs clicks in order to make their living or to get attention. That's not what it's about. I'm gonna give you an honest opinion of what I see. And I'm not gonna listen to the white noise from outside. I'm gonna give you the opinion that I have come up with with what I know and what I see. But I'm not gonna parent you. Just because you want me to say something, I'm not doing it. I'll say what I think, not what you think. And just because there must be a lot of narcissists and egomaniacs out there to think that what they say because they say that the top of their lungs is correct. A lot of you were wrong. A lot of you were right too. A lot of you make really good points,
but a lot of you were wrong because you're reacting emotionally. And it's hard not to react emotionally from what happened last night. And I was a said at the start of the show, you have every right to be chapped to the end degree to see your team perform that poorly in a big spot. And I'm sure everybody in the Yankee organization today feels the exact same way they can't believe what they just saw. There's no way to reconcile it. You can't perform like that on the big stage. And if you're on Broadway, if you're an actor or a singer on Broadway and you continue to hit sour notes, you're not gonna be on Broadway anymore. A lot of people on that field yesterday hit some really sour notes. Let's go to Steve and Pleasantville, Steve. Hey, Michael. Denon. Steve, I'm here. So I'm listening to you and you, the slogan about doing the same thing over and over again,
expecting different results is insanity, right? But there's another slogan I've learned, which is if nothing changes, nothing changes, you know, there's no mistake that the giants did what they did and the nixed it what they did. And they got rid of Divido and he had a great season, right? And they went into the different direction and the result is obvious. But I'm gonna run something by you. And you remember when Michael called the own sat down with Mo Green. Yeah. And Michael said, listen Mo, you're seeing those losing money. And most of you think I'm skipping off the top? And Michael says you're unlucky. I think after nine seasons, I'm still on the field that boon is unlucky. You know, there's got to be some accountability as far as doing something different because we've seen the results. You're saying, how do we know that somebody's not talking anybody? Yes, that is game. That's how we know that somebody's not talking to somebody.
But we don't know that. We don't know that. We thought he could be talking. They could be talking and it doesn't resonate with the player. Well, then we got to get somebody that resonates because we have to listen to the old or we have to have we have to have play actually listen and perform. I'm for you know, you can't buy the players. So you bring up two changes in New York sports that last year going to Mike Brown ended up working. Harbought this point looks like it's working at three and one. But let me ask you this Steve, didn't the Giants make four other coaching changes that actually made it worse? Just because this change doesn't mean that better. No, that might be concha in Marathon lucky. But I mean, let's not even talk about John Marathon. How about all the coaching changes the Rangers have made? They don't always work. Just because something's different doesn't mean it's going to be better. So coaching changes is time for change, time for change. And you there's not one person out there
within the sound of my voice that thought that getting rid of Tibido was the right thing to do. They thought it was Dolan just listening to some disgruntled players. So it turned out to work out perfectly. We have no idea if Tibido would have done the same thing. He got the team to the Eastern Conference finals the year before. So Brown won the Eastern Conference finals and the finals. So the move turned out great. And we'll see how Harbought turns out. But Sherman didn't turn out well. Judge didn't turn out well. Dable didn't turn out well. Because how to be a change. How to be a change from Tom Cofflin. How'd that work out? Every new coach the Rangers bring in, they get rid of them what in a year and a half. Doesn't always work out. Change is not always the answer. Sometimes it's the players, maybe it's the change the players. Maybe the Yankees have to look at players and they have the value something's differently whether or not they can play
under this cauldron of pressure in New York. Maybe that's it. But again, you're quoting the Godfather. You're just unlucky. Well, you, Mo Green also got shot in the eye. Is that what you want? That boom has to be eliminated if they lose? I don't want to tell you. Because if the same people are in charge of this organization, if Brian Cashman and the people he works or there are going to be in charge, you think they're going to bring in a fire and brimstone guy just because you think that that's the answer? No, it's going to be the same thing as Aaron Boone, same type of guy, same type of guy. Because that's what they believe works. And it works to an extent. It has not worked to the extent of the ultimate goal, which is the championship. Because Boone's been managing here for nine years and they made the playoffs eight of them and they made the World Series once and they made the ALCS once before.
So there has been a level of success, just not the ultimate success. And I will tell you this and I've told you some million times. If they don't make changes, if the team gets eliminated into division series and if changes are not made, then they are grading on a different scale than you. Except that, they're saying, we have a chance to win every year, that's pretty damn good. We fall short, now that stinks, but I'm not going to completely throw out the bathwater with the baby, I'm not going to do it. We'll continue to tweak, hopefully we get it right. So if you don't see a change made, then that tells you that they're happy with the way it is right now. Every year having a chance to win a championship and you might roll your eyes, but you know, every year they have a chance. They are never out of it. They are never looked at as a team. That's not going to make the playoffs every year. And that's not supposed to make you feel better
about last night. It's not. Nothing can make you feel better about last night, other than they win the next three games and they advance to looks like it would be the white socks to play a best of seven series to get to the world series. Let's go to Eric in Scotch Plains, Eric. Hey, what's going on, Mike? Thanks for taking my call. What's up, Eric? Not much, Mike. So again, I know this is a little bit of a boondog pile today. My thing is, when you look at the big picture and you step away from it, the one thing I can't help but notice is, you know, since Boone is being here, the Yankees with the exception of the Baltimore Orioles have left the playoffs series to every single team in the American League East. And that's concerning. That's something that's our direct competition, our direct rivals and we can't get over that hump. On top of that, looking at who would happen last year with the wall card game, do you think there's any chance Boone survives if the Yankees lose that round
against Boston last year? Yeah, I do. I think he would get a lot of heat, but I think he would probably survive. They, I know nobody wants to hear it. The organization loves the manager and they love the job that he does. And they love the way he represents their organization. He never embarrasses them. He's not caught up on DUIs. He communicates beautifully, pre and post game with all the media obligations. They love him. And if they ever did get rid of him, I think it would tear the heart of the Steinberg family. They love the guy. Brian Cashman loves the guy. It's not going to be easy. It's not, it's, it's, it's, it's, if they ever moved on from him, there would be a lot of people broken up throughout the organization if they got rid of him.
I don't know if they felt the same way about Gerardi. I don't think, I don't know if they did because they did it. They did it and he went to game seven of the ALCS and they still did it. And he pleaded for his job back and even called up House Diabreiner and they said no. So I don't know if there was that same affection. I just don't know. But with Boone, he's doing the job. He is receptive to all of the information that's handed to him. Then he deploys it the way he wants. And again, an unbelievable representative of the organization. And I know that fans don't care about this, but I'll tell you this. The fact that he's a good man and puts the organization in a good light when he speaks on television or to the media and he's respected around baseball, that means something. Today you're all red-hot and you're gonna blame him. For some reason though, you're not blaming McMahon.
You're not blaming Jazz. You're not blaming Lombard. You're not blaming Spencer Jones and Wright. No, no, you're not blaming Louis Garcia Jr. For a terrible stretch on the throw that was given an error in the long, none of that, it's all on Boone. And that will always fascinate me. That will always fascinate me. That somehow he gets blamed for the ineptitude of his defensive players. I don't know. And again, maybe I'm wrong. Maybe there is a line of delineation, all right? A point of delineation where it becomes the managers fault, the way the team performs. I don't know what that is. I'm not smart enough to know when a manager's responsible for ineptitude on the field. I don't know the calculus. I'm not quite sure when it's his fault. And I told you before, sorry if I'm repeating, bringing in Nesta Cortez, that's on him. Starting Dave Garcia and thinking that having J. Hat
was a bulk guy, that's on him. That's on him. You can second guess him. Having those three left handers bad against C-more yesterday, that's on him. The miscus in the field, I don't know how that's on him. I'm not quite sure. Again, maybe I'm not that bright. I'm just not that sure why he should be blamed for that. Brian, him and Hat and Brian. Hi, Michael, how are you? I'm good, how you doing? Good, good. So I wanted to talk about third base. When I see McMahon's name in the lineup, I get a pit in my stomach. I know that we're throwing out our best to find defensive lineup last night. But I don't think McMahon is the same player he used to be. We've seen it all season. I think when I think of Coby Arrow and I think of his defensive rune saved in McMahon, they're about on par if not Coby-ers actually better. So you can't argue outright that McMahon
is the better defensive player there. This is also Coby Arrow's former team. He plays with an edge. He's had more moments this season where he can go on a run. And he's played a tropical in the past, so he knows how to play on the turf. So we've seen it this year with McMahon at third. And they're going to send out freed for game three. And I know that during the season, we've seen McMahon go out there for freed because he gets a lot of ground balls at third. But I can think of plenty of games where I see that being the case. And then McMahon drops a ground ball or something. So I really want to see Coby Arrow in game three. And I'm just, I'm tired of seeing McMahon be run out there. Well, Brian, I co-sign with you, but I just don't, I'd be surprised if we see it tomorrow because they are so locked in to McMahon playing third days when freed's on the mountain. I thought the time to play Coby Arrow was yesterday. I don't know why they didn't do it. Because McMahon didn't have great numbers against Peralta. You had a strikeout pitcher on the mountain,
so you're not going to get a lot of ground balls at third ironically enough. The first ball that was hit off of Schlitler was a ground ball of third and it was misplayed. So if they ran him out there yesterday with a strikeout pitcher on the mountain, with a, I think he was one for 14 against Peralta, what's the likelihood that they're not going to run him out there tomorrow? And I don't know. Will the Yankees will boon over react and make major changes against Nick Martinez? I don't know. I think that you want to send some sort of message that there's an urgency, but are you going to send a message that, okay, that supersede urgency and that makes it look like panic? Because players, they feed off of everything that you do, every lineup that you make out. So if it's something really funky and out of the blue, they're going, whoa, whoa, whoa. And maybe you want them to go, whoa, whoa, whoa, because it was so, so bad yesterday. But then sometimes, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, turns into panic and it gets worse.
And they've somehow boon us to take the pulse and see exactly what's going on. And we talk about game plans all the time around here. Iron Boone is meeting with the media on Zoom, as we speak, and he said he is considering some changes for the lineup for game three. Now, before you get excited, you also said that about game two. And he ran out the exact same line if that he had in game one. So time will tell, at about four o'clock tomorrow, we'll know if in fact there are changes in the lineup. My gut feeling is that they're probably some. I don't know if it'll be outrageous, but I think there will be some. Because they have to inject something into a team that looks so overmatched yesterday against a race team, overmatched. So you have to do something, right? We'll see what they do. You have Nick Martinez who throws a good change up.
Maybe you do put righties in against him. He's a right handed pitcher. Maybe you put righties in against him. Because a right handed change up moves away from a left hander and it moves into a right hander. But the Jays, the race will continue to throw that. They are all into this year, same side changeups. You know, throughout baseball history, you never want it to have a same side changeup. Because it moves into your swing path. They have done research and have analytics that say, you know what, you can still get them out just on the change of speed. So we'll see, he says, thinking about some changes. A quick detour, or detour, if you please. Time out for the big blue report, brought to you by King Sowion. The Giants are expecting to see Jaden Daniels when they play the commanders. So he's three and no lifetime against the Giants. He should be the quarterback. He's been out the last two games, dislocated left elbow. And one of the games, they won. 33-31 behind Marcus Marriota.
Marriota got hurt when they were in London and they ended up losing to the Colts. So it looks like Jaden Daniels will in fact play against the Giants so they have to get ready for him in that game that will be in land over Maryland. And John Harboh said that J.J. McCarthy could actually be QB2 for this upcoming week. That was a big blue report brought to me by King Sowion. King Sowion best slider in football. Let's go to William in Puerto Rico, William. Hey, Mike, great show. I think your voice has expressed how we all feel. Some frustration from yesterday's nightmare. So I just wanted to know your opinion. I don't know if you have any insight information on. I imagine Judge Pauli wanted to play against Tampa and the series. But if the Yankees go down, do you think there will be any drama among judge and whoever made that decision, Pauli Boone and management?
Will there be any drama there? I mean, I don't know. But I mean, he can't be angry at just Boone. That's an organization with the decision. That probably goes all the way up to Hal Steinbrunner. There are doctors involved. There are trainers involved. I know he wants to play. So that shows you how desperate he is to get back on the field. But they obviously are not seeing that he's ready to play. You don't think that they want him on the field? As I said yesterday, they're not playing him because of spite. They're not playing him because they don't think he's ready. So if he wants to take that personally, I guess he could take it personally. But you think that Boone makes that decision in a vacuum? I mean, he talks with all of the athletic trainers. He talks with the doctor. He talks with the people. I do the MRIs. He talks with the front office. Susan Boone doing this on a whim. Aaron Judge has to understand that. There's been a lot of drama surrounding that. But the bottom line is they don't think he's ready. And he seems like he's willing to risk
playing at 60%, 70%. One thing that I think should definitely be put to sleep is you can't blame yesterday on not having judge. Maybe if you want to look at the broader scope, would they have had five more? I mean, this guy, Aaron Judge is a 10-war player. So would they have had five or six more wins and finished ahead of Tampa Bay? We'll never know if he played the whole season. But yesterday, that's not because Aaron Judge wasn't there. I'm sorry, it's not. Maybe he makes one difference. Maybe he catches that ball on right field. That Spencer Jones didn't. Maybe, maybe. But all the other errors, that's not because Aaron Judge was in there. That can't be used as a ready made excuse for everything. Again, macro for the season, we could talk about it. Micro for yesterday, you can't talk about it. Chad and Orlando, Chad. Hey, Michael, how you doing today? Good, how are you?
Fantastic, sir. Hey, just real quick, before I get to my question, I just want to thank you. I've been a Yankee fan for a long time and caught a lot of Yankee games on, yes. And now I've got a high school son who's doing the same thing. He listens to your podcast and just a big fan of playing the talk. Thank you. Thank you so much. But so I was actually at the game last night. My son and I went and I guess I just kind of wanted you to do that. I just kind of wanted you to talk me off the ledge. I'll be fine. Some some some faith that we can do something here because watching the game live, it's like it was so apparent that this raised him was markedly better defensively. Uslan, I'll just do the little things right. We looked like a single A, we went all triple A like a single A squad playing out there. And I mean, yeah, a cam, I thought he'll pitch phenomenally in sport of the defense. Rice is obviously playing like a man amongst boys. But how do I, as a Yankee fan, how do I still hold on to some hope that we can do something in the life of you know, going back to Yankee Stadium?
Well, yeah, but here's what I could give you Chad. You got a top light picture going. So you want him to pitch the way he can pitch. The bullpen is actually pitch well. So if he can give them six and two-thirds something like that, then you turn over the bullpen. You can get a win. They've got a hit. And if Boone does make some lineup changes, maybe that changes the dynamic. I think it all comes down to the next day starting pitcher. And we'll see how Max Fried does against Nick Martinez. I don't think Freddie Peralta was unhittable yesterday. And when the Yankee seemed like they were getting a sniff of him, then Kevin Cash went to the bullpen right away. We'll see what happens tomorrow. But do I think there's no chance that they win three and a row? No, I don't think that. As I said earlier, it's improbable, but it is certainly possible. You have to look at it like Sean Harbaugh before the game this weekend. Or last weekend, handed out T-shirts and said 1-0. So he's not thinking too big. He's not saying we should be 12 and 5 at the end of the year.
He's saying 1-0. That means win the game that you're playing. So what the Yankee's got to do is go pitch my pitch, batter by batter, inning by inning, and try to win Wednesday. Because if you think about winning three and a row, the enormity might just swallow you up. You got to take little baby bites. You can't swallow the whole sub. Take little baby bites. Win the inning. Win the first inning. All right, then win the second. Third, fourth. Win the game. Then worry about game four with Rodon. That's what you have to do. But if you think about three and a row, then it might be too much to absorb. It might be too much to absorb. Let's go to Ron in Tom's River. Ron. Hey, Michael. How are you? Good. How you doing, Ronnie? I'm good. This is the first time calling. I had to reach out because of all the, you know, jumping on Aaron Boone. And I just wanted to throw this at you. Maybe way off base.
Maybe you know something. Maybe you don't. But what I'm thinking is, is it possible Aaron Boone gets some direction from above during the game on the game? No, no, no. Because if you go back to the Nester Cortez and you think about Aaron Boone and his knowledge and experience, I have a hard time believing that he would make that decision. Is it possible it came down saying, this is what you're going to do? No, I don't think I don't think, Ron, that they bother him during a game. I think he's given an unbelievable amount of information before the game. And I'm sure he now he could say he made the Nester Cortez decision. Which to me made no sense. You're bringing a guy who hadn't pitched in two months into a world series face, fairly, pretty, pretty, pretty. Made no sense. And I said it at the time. So I'm not second guessing. But I think he's handed information. And at the time, they thought that Nester Cortez is pitch shapes.
This was the perfect lane to bring him in. That's what they thought. So he had that information. He decided to go with it. But in terms of like somebody picking up the phone and saying, do this. Listen, I've got to believe these guys when they say that doesn't happen. I don't think it happens. I don't think Brian Cashman would do that. Because Brian Cashman lived through a time when George would do that. Where George would call the dugout and tell Lupinella to do something. And then they would get into an argument. I don't think Brian would ever do it. But I believe that Brian and his staff, they present a lot of eventualities to Aaron Boone and the coaching staff. You know, you could do this here. You could do this. And they leave it up to him to whether or not he does it. So your question was a simple one. I'll give you. I do not think that they are calling down during a game. I absolutely do not think that. Rich and Brooklyn rich. Michael, how are you doing? Good. How are you? Listen, Michael. You know, even if they were first of all, if Kariahiro, the front player is know how the tap of Bay Rafe play.
Because they played on that team. Am I correct? No. Like Yorbo, Kariahiro. The point I'm saying is, if McMade made an error like that, you can't just pull them out of the game. Because he can't bring them back in. It's not basketball. Why did he make the other way? I don't know. Anybody saying that he should have been pulled rich after he made the error? I mean, the question is, why was he, why was he playing? Why was he playing? Now, Frenda Manna is actually listening to the Zoom with Boone right now. And I guess it was asked about the seventh inning where he didn't pinch it any right handers. Against Seymour. And he said he considers Seymour neutral. And that's why he didn't pinch it. And when he say the lefty is neutral, that means that there's no advantage to a lefty or righty hitter. He's neutral. All right.
So that's the information that he has. And then when Booser came in in relief of, of Peralta, he said, he said he wasn't going to shoot in a shot. And then he said, well, he didn't go to shoot any pinch hitters. It was too early. Plus the next two guys were Rice and Ballinger. And you really can't blame him because Rice walked and Ballinger came within two feet of hitting a grand slam. That could have changed the entire series. But they brought in Seymour. The race did to counteract all the lefties that Yankees have in the order. So if they thought that he's counteracting the lefties, then I guess they don't think he's that neutral. And you look at what he did. He worked a one two three six. No, no, he worked a one two three seven. I gave up the home run to Rice and the eighth. And then they brought in Baker. So they think Booser does counteract lefties. The Yankees seem to think he's neutral. So there's your answer to that.
Roger in the Bronx. Roger. Hey, Michael. Go ahead. Go ahead. I'm not trying to be disrespectful. But it's the truth. You don't get the point. The point the other fans were making is simple. Something has to change. Is the mentality. Baseball is also a mental game. Clearly, he's not getting through them. Bye. Okay. I mean, I'm not defending anybody. What you people, when you listen to the show, a lot of you people, don't quite get what I'm saying. I'm not defending anybody. I'm telling you why he's neutral. I'm not defending anybody. I'm not defending anybody. I'm not defending anybody. I'm telling you why he's there and why they will probably not make a change. I'm not defending, advocating, or doing anything like that. So you think you just had to drop the mic moment. Yeah, a lot of people might think like that. That after nine years, you think, okay, it's time for change. And that's, I understand people thinking like that. It's not unreasonable.
But I'm telling you what I know from the inner workings of the organization that he is absolutely beloved. And the players love him too. So you could, you know, feel good about what you perceive as a drop the mic moment. I'm not defending anybody. I'm explaining. I'm explaining why moves are made. And I'm also saying that sometimes it's the players. And then you could say, well, if it's the players then the front office is getting the wrong player. You can make that argument too. You can make that argument too. But you could also say the front office done a lot of good things, right? Drafting Ben Rice, drafting Schlittler and high rounds. Lombard. So I mean, they've done some good things too. You're just looking at all the negativity and that's fine. But that wasn't Roger. That wasn't quite the drop the mic moment you think. And I understand people that they they're screaming for change. After last night's game, how could you not be upset?
How could you not want something to change? How could you not want to say, okay, it's the culture? How could you not? I get it. But I am not sitting here saying they shouldn't feel that way. I'm explaining. I don't understand why people don't quite get English. I mean, the show is done in English every single day. So tell me where I'm defending where I'm trying to explain why things happen. But you're going to hear what you want to hear. That's the beauty of of the world. And also maybe the negativity of the world. People here what they want to hear. They don't hear what's actually being said. You can't be more critical than I've been about how the ink you played yesterday. I don't know who you want from me. You want me to bust a vein open? I'm not doing it. I'm not going to I'm not going to cut myself to make you people happy that I'm not as angry as you are. And I'm pretty angry with the way they played yesterday. But I also have a rational edge to me and fans or fanatics and sometimes they're not rational.
But I'm not telling anybody that it shouldn't be upset about yesterday. You should be upset. Unacceptable. Embarrassing. There's no other words you could throw in there. That was an abomination. The performance they put on last night. There's nothing they did last night that they should be proud of other than Ben Rice. And the fact that although you never is a stuff that slitler actually battled and kept the team in the game. That's it. Nothing else you're going to hang your hat on. Nothing. And you shouldn't. And you shouldn't. We go to three at that time Don Hotton Rosenberg right here on ESPN New York. Life insurance is one of those things that's easy to put off because it doesn't feel urgent today. So a big prevailing thought on anti-social media. You know, Frank says when your team is not ready to play, it's on the manager. There's been an ongoing problem in the Boone era. It goes on to say if your team is not ready to play, it's pressing the postseason and happens consistently, which it has with the Yankees, it's on the manager. Maybe it's on the players. Maybe you got the wrong players. I've been told by people, if you need to be motivated for postseason game, you're not, you're not the player that you think you are.
So what should Boone have done before the game yesterday? He should have pulled aside jazz and McMahon and Lombard said, don't make errors, man. Don't make errors. I don't want to see you make errors. So it was on him that he didn't want them that they should make errors. Come on. Again, maybe they have the wrong players. Maybe some of it is Boone's fault. Again, these people that are repining on this, were you ever in an amazingly clubhouse? I mean, a manager does have value. Motivate players, whatever the case may be, but ready to play, you have to be motivated to be ready to play a postseason game, then you were in the wrong business. You're in the wrong business. And other people opining on anti-social media that, you know, the for-profit owner, what should he operate the business as a not-for-profit?
Is that the way he should operate the business? Tell me the owner out there that's operating their business without profit in mind. It's laughable. Like he's running a charity. Like how farmers should have a $500 million payroll so that you could have a start every single position and they could lose money. Or maybe not make as much money. It's the way his family earns a living. This is their business. When you write, no, the for-profit owner, you think that's a derogatory term? Every owner is for profit. Jim Dolan is for profit. I mean, it's crazy how people think that the owner should run the team and lose money. How's that working out for Steve Cohen? He's happy losing money and they don't even make the playoffs. In fact, they finished last. The for-profit owner. Oh, yeah. So awful that an owner of a business actually wants to make make a profit. Amazing. It's just amazing.
Elvis and Connecticut, Elvis. Hello, Elvis. Hey, Mike. Hey, good afternoon, Mike. How you doing, buddy? I'm great. How you doing? I'm good. First of all, I want to say congratulations, Mike. I look up to you, born and raised in the Bronx like you are. Not as more as you are. But big fan of you is the one sterling the rest of the race and great father with Charlie and your daughter. But anyway, real quick, Michael, because I know you're going to go squint. All these Yankee fans, they call themselves fan or fire boom, fire cashman. They don't know what they're talking about. First of all, born doesn't play the precision as the players and you absolutely right when you begin to show I always hear you because I love the way you analyze. We did we cannot we cannot accept the game that we did they play yesterday. These guys, they call professionals. These guys make millions and millions of dollars to play like that. That's unacceptable. Very unacceptable. I can't say the words how I feel on the radio, but for the first time I even told you producer when he picked up the phone.
First time in my life, always been a Yankee fan that I feel embarrassed to be a Yankee fan. I never, ever like you said in the beginning, never saw a game like that. Especially a game of Elvis of that import to completely lay an egg like that. And that's what it was. It was an egg. They didn't show up. And that's not me saying that. Camp slugler said we didn't show up. Why? How is that possible? What mindset does a player have to not show up game two of a best of five when you're already down one nothing? I'd be hard pressed to find a game of this important Yankee history where the team performed that badly. It was one inning in game five in the 2024 World Series where it fell apart. This was the entire game mistake after mistake after mistake. Mike in Plattsburg, Mike.
How you doing, Mike? Last night was a colossal failure, man. That was amazing in the first inning. I was just having a little banter really quick. I know time's pressing here, but wasn't that like game five of the Dodgers in the World Series? Was that what do you think? No, it was it was like game five fifth inning where they made three errors. That's what it was like. But this was the entire game. You had a terrible first inning, you had a terrible fifth inning. You couldn't hit, at least in the Dodger series after all of those mistakes. The Yankees were leading six five. Going to the latenings. So they overcame the mistakes yesterday. They never could. They couldn't overcome the mistakes. I'm going to be really, really intrigued to see how they play tomorrow. Have they cast out? Have they thought, well, when are we going to win this series? Or are they going to show incredible resolve and battle back and win?
You know, boom, speaking as we speak on the Zoom, saying that there will be, he's considering lineup changes. Let's see how deep it goes. Let's see how extensive it is. And it's all going to fall on Max Fried. How does he pitch? Does he give them a chance? Is he putting up a series at the beginning? Or are the pesky rays going to put the ball in play and the Yankees might not make plays? We'll see. They're a better defensive team than what they showed yesterday. They have to be. This is not the team to give extra outs to. So you got to wash it away. Just like you had to wash away one nothing, but they didn't. Came out and did not play well. In the words of Billy Joel, life is a series of halos and goodbyes. I'm afraid it's time for goodbye. And see everybody talked to you tomorrow at one Don Honor and Rosa Bergnaz.
