On ESPN New York, the MSG network and streaming live on YouTube. And we'll see you at the Harry front. Fast approaching 403 in the big city Don Han and Rosenberg with you until seven o'clock. It's for three. You're right.

It was fast. No, it was fast. Uh, four, thirty. We got the list. Five o'clock, Kimberly Martin. We'll join us talk a little about six o'clock E&N. It's nice to have everybody back here in the studio talking some Yankee wins and seeing if they can't advance to take on the raise on Saturday. They can do it as early as tonight with a victory. Free it'll be on the mound versus your your old buddy, the guy. Johnny Gray that, you know, you couldn't wait. A lot of time. And you listen, if it was, if it was the fact that New York was overwhelming for him. And Cashman got killed for getting him and not realizing, well, maybe this guy just isn't not made for New York. Well, if he's not bill for New York, well, you can get ready. Play off baseball at Yankee Stadium to keep your team alive. So we'll see. Let me, let me, let me clear something up too with what's on the gray that I learned is the Yankees believed he was built for it because he played was a Texas. He played in like a big for a big school, a big program baseball.

And their games were always like the Friday night game was a big game. Big crowds, lot of intensity. He always wanted the ball. They, they thought Vanderbilt Vanderbilt Vanderbilt. Sonny Gray, that's a powerhouse baseball program. I don't know why like it. That's a pitching like it sounded to me like it was like somewhere. It is though. It's a whole more ten, but for them, it is though. It's a pitching factor. Okay. Well, bottom line was as I was told he always wanted the ball in the Friday night game. He always wanted the attention. He loved the big games. He loved pitching against the other big programs. And so it looked like he was built for it. And then he got here and he was, he shrunk. So that was a big surprise. Well, you know what? Both could be true. But if you knew that about a player wouldn't like, right? If, just take a, take a hockey for instance, you had a guy who was like, like, B.U. Or B.C. or, or, or Michigan. And, and every time they played like national games or against national teams, the guy always played up.

And then he comes to your team in a big market and he just will. Well, here's the misreading. Here's the misreading. When I see a guy can't handle New York, I don't think his knees are knocking because there's 50,000. Because there's 50,000 screaming fans in the building. I look at it as, can he handle that after a tough game? There are 50 people with microphones and notebooks ready to ask him questions. Pick it, pick it, everything. And hammering him. Yeah. Why you play poorly? You know, walking out of the building and instead of people hounding him for autographs, there's, there's, you know, chanting you suck. Yeah. And I'm walking with your wife into a restaurant on an off day and fans making comments to you. Like, that's not handling New York to me. Not the bright, light, big city. It's the criticism. It's being able to handle the media pressure and the constant scrutiny and the constant pressure that nothing is enough. But in that moment, I mean, there are guys, you might, as a hockey guy, you might love this. You know, Chris Terrary. Yes. Chris Terrary always won when he played at the Boston Garden for Providence.

Always won. Right. And he's a little bit more powerful than he was before. He actually replaced Brodoor in the games at the garden because he always played so well there. You know, that's a different story. Hey, I could pitch a Yankee Stadium for Vanderbilt in front of 50,000. Yeah, I could do that. But because after those games, there were probably like three student newspapers that were like asking him questions. What did you think of your third inning? Mr. Gray? Mr. Gray. That's not all like that. No, I'm joking. But it's a, it's a, it's a, it's a different ball. Yeah, that's fair. But what's saying that he had a couple of cuts. I know you have them on your page from yesterday talking about his, you know, tonight and pitching a Yankee Stadium in the playoffs. And just, just, just, just listen on how he will be received in game two. I think that it will be a playoff energy on the road, a playoff atmosphere on the road. As far as reception, this or that, you know, it'll be what it'll be.

I'm not going to sit here and try to control something that I can't control because I ultimately have no control over that. Yeah, it'll be what it'll be. Yeah. And again, Del Bowen, he likes like a box of Tom Klet. He might love it because he knows after the game he's going to be dealing with the Boston media. Right. And then they get to leave after if they lose or if they win whatever. I think that's the thing. I hear him though, letting you know what out without saying it that he's very aware. What's, what's awaiting? You know what I got the sense of Peter, see if you agree. Almost. He thought the question was stupid. Of course he's going to get destroyed. He's a red sock that he used to play for the Yankees didn't play. No, he knows he's getting. And he knows that the fans know that it bothers him. Give me the answer. Yeah, it's so he's aware already aware. Give me the answer. So why things didn't work with the Yankees? There was a lot of outside this outside that unfamiliarity with with with me and in my situation and my family. You know, it just kind of like is it's kind of like one of those things that you know you have a snowball or whatever right.

There's a snowball that kind of starts rolling down a hill. And if you don't if you don't ever stop it in the snowball just gets bigger and bigger and bigger and it picks up traction and it just gets more snow. And it just continues to go down this thing and then the bigger the snowball gets the harder it is to stop it or to take it. And for me and just took me to to get away and get myself into a different environment and then reflect on those things right like reflect on what was good, what was bad, what didn't work. You know, and that took some time, but I do know that that playing here made me a stronger person made me made me a better man, a better husband. Ultimately, it made me a better pitcher, a better baseball player. And that's kind of what I take from my time here, right. What I'm taking from it is you made two separate references to his family, which is weird, which tells me that there are probably times where he was with his family and he was here in a bopie. Yeah, right. Bopie deals with it. Right. So, but that stuff that if you don't realize, like, yeah, I got to go. I got to deal with media.

Yeah, I know the fans can't get on you. My family lives with stands and they're hearing everybody say things about me. And in other places like, no, don't cross that. I mean call me whatever you want to call me. Fine, but don't rip my wife. I remember. And this is anything new. I remember in 1986 when the Astros were in town. 86. All right. When the meds played the Astros is my Scott's Astros. Right. Right. But who now it's going to bother me? Who is the pitcher? He was kind of a country bumpkin for the Astros in 86. I got I got I got. I got. I got. No, no, no, no, no, no, you're talking. I just I got to remember. I can't I'm going to look it up quick. And his I guess they I guess the met fans found out where his wife said. And they just like a bisserie. And he was like so Peter. He was like taking it back. I just can't believe they went after my wife and my kids. Oh my he was just in a way. Like he was I get it. No, I get it too. But that's the stuff they don't tell you when you come to New York. Doesn't make that's an out of town situation. But that happens when you don't perform well with with with because it could be like.

You are you're an outsider when you're not performing well. Charlie curfew. I think it was. That sounds about right. Yeah. There we go. Look at that with the glass. You know, he was kind of slightly overweight. Charlie curfew. He was he was born in Missouri. Nob nobster Missouri. Wow. He was from the knob. And I remember that. And and if you remember too in the World Series Roger Clemmons complained that they went after his family. And that happens when you're a Yankee or a met and you're not performing well. Like so the fact that he referred to his family a couple of times tells me like they crossed the line. His wife was probably get me the hell out of here. I don't want to be here. And it depends through hot dogs at him. That's what I remember a lot. It's it's but Peter if you don't you don't prepare somebody for that. He tell them there's going to be a lot of media. They're going to be on you. But they're not going to tell you like what Steve Phillips told me when he was the general manager of the meds how he got death threats.

How he couldn't walk down the street after a loss. What is Camp Slitler getting from Boston Red Sox fans constantly that he likes to read. He's a psycho. He looks for them and reads them. He takes the different times of slip. Yeah. But he he's he absorbs it differently than most people. For him it's like it almost empowers him. Right. He did others. Like how could you say this? But some people are truly fueled by hate. Yeah. That's their fan. In fact, there are people I've known. They're they seek out villains in their life. They need the villain or they don't have. Yeah. But some people they fold up and don't want to go that. I get it. I can understand both. Yeah. Well, I'll say this. The X factor tonight boys is the Yankee Stadium crowd because he's telling you he's telling you he knows it's coming. Yeah. His rabbit ears are already up. The antenna is already up. He's preparing for it. And he's probably trying to give himself some type of mind games to deal with it.

And if you are a true Yankees fan and this building is truly home field advantage, you got to let him have. Oh absolutely. I'm not but I'm not all his ass all the way all the way out of the game back to the dog. But I but I don't know if the things he was talking about were that it was I think everything off the field that bothered him and then he took it to the field. Will the crowd being on him get on him? Well, you know what? If it does then. But why not try? You're making a mistake. Pitch at him. This is he's pitching in this game for this specific reason. We lose game one. We've got our best picture on the map to save our season. So hopefully Tracy isn't thinking that like I'm wolf is going to be a little handle. The what tells you doing. Be a pitching in the biggest game of the season. So I'm I'm I'm testers. You don't even have to tell them. They know you got Yankee fans know put him in the Crucible and make him sweat. Make him want out of this game. That's what the batters can do what they can. He is a tough pitcher when he's on. That's what he's become. But it doesn't mean that you can't as a fan base. This is your opportunity to wear after the game. Somebody says.

Like that crowd was ravenous and they had him rattled because the batters only do so much with what he's throwing. But if he's off. If he's got something going on in his head because of the environment he's in. That could be the series right there. So X factor for me tonight is just how loud and how aggressive this crowd is tonight. Let's go to Matthew and Charleston. You're on Don on a Roosevelt. What's up, man? Hey, fellas. I'm pretty good after listening to sunny gray explain the snowball effect. I guess I'm smart enough to get to the vendor build too. Oh, my gosh. I hope we knock him back into the open eight days. I hope hot dogs are a dollar at the stadium tonight. I think we'll do it as long as we keep one person out of a lineup for the rest of the playoffs. Would that be? And that's how it ramos. Oh, he was terrible. He was terrible. I said, I don't understand how he's on the team.

And Jason Dominguez, a switch hitter with speed isn't there. Other than that, I think boom. Managed the team perfect last night. He managed. Slipple in the pitching staff. Well, he outmanaged. Chad Tracy. That's for sure. Maybe he went to Vanderbilt too. Well, I think it must be for the defense. You know, Dominguez is good as he can hit. There were times it was an adventure in the outfield with him. And you already are limited with Jones at center and Grisham defensively. They're metrics tell you they're not great defenders. The only great outfield defender is Belinger. So that's probably why he's almost hasn't hit since he's been here. That's probably what they will tell you, but you don't have to worry about it tonight. And I and we'll see what happens once we get to the best of five series in the next round of the Yankees win. But there's reasons for everything. Okay, then I just throw guys out there for the hell of it that the analytics tell you that that was the best lineup. And to answer Peter's question to Michael earlier like why is there so many changes because now you got a right and that changes and flips everything.

So that's why the lineup looks way different tonight than it did yesterday. Let's go to Bernie. He's in Westchester. You're on ESPN. Hey guys, I just have a couple of observations on one question. If you took the fact that the Yankees didn't play the last game, leaving the 161 and added Ben Rice's accomplishments last night, you wind up with 43 homers on 100 RBI's. And I think that's kind of just a cute side note. The second thing is the announcement yesterday that the national game is like a rug or carpet. They didn't shut up. And I just appreciate we're looking out to so much more interesting for it. I didn't like the national broadcast. No, but I didn't think it was because they never shut up. I just I just didn't care. I didn't like. She didn't feel it. Okay. Yeah. I didn't get that kind of going in title. Yeah. And then the last thing I wanted to ask you any news on why judge skipped the introductory situation.

That's a tiny protest or something else can be different. That's a great question, Bernie. I don't think he's protesting. I didn't see it, but I heard. I saw it on social media that everybody that wasn't on the roster was still introduced except him. My only thinking is he wasn't there. And final why he wouldn't be there unless he was working out or doing something. But did he want to avoid like crowd reaction? Did he want to just say, I'm not playing that I'm not going to come out because others who weren't on the roster still were introduced. Yeah. On the on the series roster. But they got to what was 72 was a cabillero. Yeah. And then that was it. And it's interesting that there was no 99. Right? Yeah. I didn't I was a little confused that they. But then he came out after when the when the game began that he came into. I don't I don't we had Michael. We could have asked. I didn't think about asking it though. But I mean, I don't even know what he would know. But kind of interesting.

It's interesting. But what could you mean? I don't know what there is to make of it though. I guess. But also how often do they even introduce I'm confused Alan by them even introducing. Players not on the roster. They always do. It's just the first game of the series. I can say everybody even. Yeah. I guess they do. So I you I never see that stuff. I never watch any of that. Yeah, like you don't know. And I wonder if judge also much think I don't want. If I can't play, I don't want any of it. I'm waiting till I play. I'm like, I don't want to do it. Stop. People stop being a pain in the romp. That's the case. Right? Just whatever. How often you say, Rump. I just had to change it up. Yeah. Very often. Rump is one of those you just tossing every now and then just to see if you're ready for the flavor. Yeah. Yeah. I mean, listen to Beastie Boys made a great song about Rump. Beto in Cortland, you're on ESPN. New York. What's up? Are we doing gentlemen? Good. Good. Um, I know you guys had a caller earlier who said he was a big fan of bone pushing camps.

I'm a little bit smaller to the limit. But as you guys have seen a lot of these pictures throwing as hard as they do, these guys are taking time bombs. And I think for the better minute, the kid he should have took them out earlier. What do you guys think? You're out of your mind? You're out of your mind. It's the it's a hundred and seventy. If you walk towards that mound, the way that kid was pitching to take him out. And you tell him, you know, you've thrown enough. He would have probably picked you up and threw you back to the dugout. You let that guy go. And you want to play off to let him go. You hold them back all season for this moment, right? So we can't do this. There were guys throwing 120 pitches back in the old days. There's no reason why he can't now. He's built up all season to be able to pitch as much as you need him to pitch. And that's why they were able to get him into the seventh inning. So yeah, our mentality changes now after 162. All right. So from now on, we don't think. And that's part of it too. But the other part is that he's not he's not going to pitch until Saturday, if the Yankees advance. And he doesn't have to pitch Saturday.

Because Rodon can go Saturday. If they were Rodon can go in game two, excuse me. If Saturday is one game one, was there would go? Was he ever in a high stress? No, not at all. I mean, we got a stop every see this is where everybody gets cookie because we're so accustomed to always through a hundred pitches. He's going to he's going to explode. If he feels good, he's going to explode. You know, and you want him to go a little bit farther. And again, if he's taxed, well, then you pitch him in game three. And then he's got extra rest pitching. And in fact, there's the extra day off. Remember, we just mentioned. So he's going to be he's going to be fine. Man, if you think it extra 10 pitches, it's going to cripple him emotionally. This goes back to the listen, this goes back to the Santana, no hitter. That was 134 pitches. That was a 35 pitches, but you know God forbid if Schlittler gets hurt next year, I'm going to remember game one, he threw 117 pitches, but that probably why he took him out at 107 and the bulls up. Now it's like, what'd you do? Come on, Peter? Did you see the width rate though?

I said, I got a punch on the face. I said, if someone was, I was, I'm testing you. You were with me. I have. So we, we he Anthony sends a stat. He doing his job. He's on by Anthony. He sends us up and with freighter for I said, if anyone says with for it on this show, I don't don't there was no such thing called with freight. No, you can't just come up with things called with rate that up. But it's I understand what it's a staff that's actually has some reason. It's times the people. You don't like the name of it. It's not really just they said. But why do you got to call it a with freight? By the way, because everything has to be weird. Yeah, because exactly they could just say his the swing and mispercentage, but with freight. It's not. How about the swing and missibility? You know what? That would be mad too, but at least makes more sense. He's got great swing and missibility. Listen, this is what because there's a lot of downtime in baseball. So clearly, you know, it's either a rocket truck or make up words. They decided to make up words. And I think we're all thankful for it. Now time for the list brought to you by the Allure Group. This might be a little controversial because it's kind of old school versus new school. Interesting but you know, Camchletler had an amazing amazing year 1.95 earn run average and some people are speculating it might be among the best seasons a picture has ever had. And New York really ever had I said you know what let's let's get them up with a top 5 let's list it up. Give them a season pitching performances of all time in New York. Anybody want to take a stab at who might be in the top 5. I did got honorable mentions all get your course Ron get your I have at number 2 and I thought it was absolute quality. I saw listed Camchletlers was better than get your stop stop. 1978 Ron get your the 25 and 3 and I want to say it again 25 and 3 how many no decisions 1.74 earn run average 1.74 that's pretty good.

That's over a full season you admit. Yeah. And so this was 1978. He had 269 strikeouts in. In. 273 and 2.3 innings hello wow McFly. So you guys got to realize every inning you could get a strikeout. It's great these guys they pitch 6.7 innings that's great these guys were going to you how many complete games get your had that year double digits. How many how about about 16 at weight 16 out of his 28 16 out of his he made yeah how many starts did he make that year 35 star. So all right so so he had he still had 7 no decisions. Yeah pretty amazing right. So so that has number number 2. How about how about it's almost half his starts he went the distance. How about Jacob DeGrom? Yeah. I put Jacob DeGrom at number 5 2018. Yeah is the season that Peter's talking about now.

Obviously is when lost record not great at 10 and 9. The match just did not hit for him. But in 217 innings which is not bad for a modern day pitcher 1.70 earn 1.71. 10 games on how many appearances how many how many starts. Did you have it or no I didn't have it. I'm sorry. No I just like to repair many stats as I could because it shows you he pitched a lot and he didn't get any run support. There were times he would lose 2 to 1 and the only run they got was his RBI single. That's how bad it was 32 starts. See again get you at 35 so he's right there but imagine making 32 starts and you you lost 9 of them and you had a 1 points no earn run average. You also struck out 269 batters that year too so I got Jacob DeGrom at number 5. Number 5 so number 2 and number 5. Okay let's see. Doc? Doc good 1985. The second year in the big.

It was 24 and 4 right. But this 1.53 earn run average for Doc good 168 strikeouts in that season too. What numbers that I've got that a number one. Second year in the league. Unbelievable. He led the league. He has war which 12.2 24 wins led the league 16 complete games in 276 and 2.3. Zennings and he led the league and strikeouts with 268. Of course he won the Sai Young Award. Not bad first three years of his career right. Rookie of the years Sai Young World Series in his first three years. I've got Doc good at number one so good in 85 is 1. Gidrian 78 is 2. DeGrom in 18 is 5. How recent are the last two. Oh let's see. Not very. Why do you for it? Why do you for it? I have an honorable man. About it. All right wait a minute because in 1961 he was 25 and 4 and run average 3.2.

So it was kind of up there but 183 strikeouts. I had him as an honorable man. I thought the earn run average a little high. Little high. So I see for in this. Oh he is. How do we do? You could go 69. You can go 73. I wouldn't do that. Filth bags. I went with 71 and here's the thing. All right now this could be controversial. Tom Seever. This was his best year. So I gave it to him in 71. I guess it in 1969. Tom Seever was 25 and 7 with a 2.2.1 earn run average. One the Sai Young. In 1973 he was 19 and 10 with a 2.08 earn run average. One the Sai Young. But I gave it to him in 71. Why? He was 20 and 10 with a 1.76. 2.08.2 earn run average. 289 strikeouts the most of his career. However, didn't win the Sai Young.

Ferguson Jenkins won the Sai Young that year. But I thought he was still his best year. So I have the 71 Seever season. That's insane. That's amazing to think. That was his best season and that's the year he didn't win one. He's one 3 of them. Crazy right? That really is crazy. Where is it here? Trying to get his stats. Ferguson Jenkins was 24 and 13 with a 2.77 earn run average. I don't know why he got it. He threw more innings. He led the league in innings. It's kind of controversial. Seever had a better earn run average. He had a higher war. Had more strikeouts. I'm looking at this. But he's leading the league in every category. Here's the thing. Ferguson Jenkins threw 325 innings. Seever threw 286 in the third. I'm going voter. Man up, Seever. That's what they were talking about. I'm going to say, nobody cares about the clubs. But no, you're right. It was probably something like that. Seever, I got it. The right.

All right. So we got all five. You're still. No, we're still. We're missing one. We're not going to get four. We're not going to get four. I'm being that guy. Are you going to weigh? It's being that guy. Because I wanted to throw an old timing in. We're going back to the Highland Dress. I'm just throwing it. Some of the nickname Blackfoot or... No. You've heard of them. Blackfoot. A picture. Steve Blackfoot. Jack Conor. Yeah, you pitch barefoot and it foot got so dirty. I was Blackfoot being bruised. 1908. Oh, Christy Mathiason. Great. To the odds. 37 and 11. A 1.43 earner and average. The babe. Now get this. 390 and 2 thirds innings. That's pitch. So I had to throw lots of abuse. Was that Whiffleball? So that's where I got. Honorable mention. I said, why do you forward in 61? Certainly you can go a camp Schletler in the kind of year that he's had here. 1934, lefty Gomez for the Yankees.

26 and 5 with a 2.33 earner and average. Finish third the MVP. You know why they called them lefty? Was that? I wonder how they came up with that. Right. He voted Democrat that year. Yeah. They called them... Oh, lefty Gomez. Throw him in his right hand. So I got him as an Honorable mention. So this is why I have number 185. Good and number 278. Gidry number 3. Excuse me. Number 3 was 71. Seaver number 4. The odd 8. Christy Mathiason and a number 5. 2018 Jacob DeGrom. So it's good. Who you taking out? Fun list. Who you taking out? You got this. Taking him out. Come on. Well, like seriously. Adonis. We use in tree branches from back to back. Let's be honest. First of all, we weren't at war. I was at many, I was being at a good place. We were barely at country. We only had 42 states. 37. I wanted to give the New York Giants some love. I mean, then remember, this is the time when players were... You're pitching against people who showed up fresh from their job as an inshurt salesman.

Right. Or they go... By the way, you're taking the bag, coming off the train. Because they were on the train all day. By the other train. By the way, no team issued pants. You just wore your own sweatpants to the stadium. Throw on a shirt. That's all you had. 300. And like... What was 90 and 2-3 in it? You know, they never got up to the mat. In fact... Stop there. The funny thing is, they were trying to take him out of the game. He said, no. Yeah. I'm not coming out. I'll do that. I get paid by... Yeah, that's probably... He probably walked off and then they'll get back out there. What are you doing? Yeah. We still have... His war was 11.8. He led in every... Pretty much every statistic that had to be low for somebody that pitched as much as he did though. True. Did they win much? Were they good? Well, the 0-8, we just know that they didn't win the championship because the Cubs did that year because that was 0-8. Yeah. So how many appearances did he have in the championship? Quite a few. You see, 37 and 11. Oh boy. 30... 44 starts. How many complete games do you have? 44 starts, you said. Yeah.

How many other 40? You know, it's... It's gonna be... It's gonna be 38 completes. No, it's 34. 34 complete games. So 10 times, you got soft. No, no, no. 10 times, you're in a cigarette. And he said, I'm coming up. I'm out of smokes. Love love to do you. Right. He's bark, you get me out of here. I'm out of cigarettes. I'm out of cigarettes. I'm out of cigarettes. No heaters. I gotta go across the street. I gotta go across the street. I have lefty coming and throwing. That's why I'm after these old... What did he have? You know, in the top of the 13th. Burbin. You know, throwing his 200th pitch. I got to want to take anything away from Ruth, but that's why I say he wouldn't be able to even make contact today. He was probably hitting 50 mile per hour fastball. Walter Johnson's probably throwing it like... It's my 230th pitch today. I can't even reach home late. No, that wasn't happening. It's so true. It's so true. Yeah. That's not what the book tells me. If you've thrown 350 innings. No, the books tell me that they were throwing darts the whole time. And by the way, at a certain point, like, I could have gotten a base hit.

Dave LaGrecca could have stepped into mid-contact. Not really. Ray San Diego. Still with a struck out. Yeah, I did. No, it's just like, well, again, you're still a human being. What could you have left on your 200th pitch of the day? He probably has put a little spit on it. Like, he was probably throwing like 100, I don't even know. They tried to measure Bob Feller's speed by having them throw alongside a motorcycle. Remember that? No, I don't remember. I wasn't there. I was in there. I wasn't there either. But you'd have to read it. But listen, I don't... That's why I'm telling you right now. And I'm somebody that's come from... The journalism background. I don't believe have to crap that those guys wrote back in. Because they were all thinking about it. They're trying to sell newspaces. They had gin and tonics sitting out in the train all sitting together, playing poker. And he's like, I'm just making up... I'll make up this. You guys see that? No, I was in the bathroom. I'm telling you, that one... 600... That pitch had to be at least 125 miles per hour. Wait, do we have any way to rate it? No, just take my word. No, I just trust me. I've been watching this game a long time. Who would know better how fast the pitch was going and how far the ball went.

Then the guy who hit it. That's true. I judged the speed as it came in. And I had the best look at it as a flu. Peter, do me a favor. Watch the game for me. I left my monocle at home. That's right. Monocle. That was the list brought to you by the Allure Group. The Allure Group where care meets compassion. All right, more your calls will be on tonight. 199-393776. Let's go to Chris. He's a new jersey. You're on ESPN, New York. Let's go to Chris. Hello? Hello, Chris. Hey. Hey, now. Okay, I'm ready to move on. Billy and the truck. You're on ESPN, New York. Billy. Billy, don't be here. Yes. Pitcher, take me to call. Always. Alan, I'm going to go back to where you were saying about the X factor. I'm going to the game tonight. Oh, my buddies. Yeah. I was at the same exact game last year. And it just be it's going to be interesting to see like with the with the the size reverse, you know, how, you know, how different it's going to be. It was a little, it was still loud last year, but it was like that.

You know, there's that nervousness. The nervous energy. I hope, you know, I hope tonight. Yeah, exactly. But I hope tonight, yeah, from the first pitch, it's just jumping in there. I mean, I'm going to be out in the bleachers. I don't know what I can do. You can know, hey, you're at some out there. It's one voice, but it's one of many. Oh, I'm telling you right now, Billy. I'm just screaming. And you should. And here's what I don't want because this does happen a lot is you can't let what the Yankees are doing affect your enthusiasm because that is very typical in that stadium. And especially in the new stadium is when the team just doesn't look right. If you know, they they have some week at bats early, maybe freed gives up something early. And there's just now this is tension and frustration. No, you've got to unload like you have to make sure you're reloading. Make sure you're relentless in this dude's ears every time he steps out on them. It comes out of the dugout for another inning. Don't worry. You got to let him feel it. I don't care if it's five, nothing you're losing.

I don't care. He's got to hear it until he's taken out of the game because at some point he's going to get rattled. He is already admitting that he knows it's coming. So he already's anticipating it. Don't make it easy for him. Absolutely. I got section 202 down. Let's go. Let's go, yank. All right. Listen, I don't worry about the yanky fans showing up. No question. You never do. Same thing at the garden for the big games is that sometimes you get the pretty people, you get the corporate. That was game three. Five. Game three finals was not the same sound. Yeah, but there's not a safe set. There's going to be plenty of people that sort of weird aura that game. And then you know what happened? Half time a game four. Yeah. And all of a sudden, this house is clear. Is that everything was somehow righted? You know, and then it was it. And then J. Lombardson missed a shot. And then you know what happened? You remember what happened next? Oh, you tapped it up. That was cool. Very cool, right?

Thanks for listening to a Don Han and Rosenberg podcast. I didn't listen anything you just, uh, kicks the show on demand whenever you want. Just subscribe to us wherever you get your podcasts. I'm going to bring late lead down the stretch of the end of the season. It is now time for the big blue report. It's brought to you by King's Hawaiian before we, you know, peak, uh, the interest of Alan Han. Oh, okay. John Harbaugh talking about cutting Odell Beckham. I had a great conversation with Odell and tough, but we just weren't getting enough. You know, it just wasn't working for us. I got told I wanted to be able to get more. I want him to be able to do more. I'm getting on the field more. We just, whatever reason we weren't able to do it, put it on us. We were able to get it done, but at this point in time, it's kind of where we were and needed to move on.

I like that he's doing that. Mm-hmm. He doesn't want to say Odell wasn't good enough. He's just basically saying it's, it's, it's, it's us, not him. Yeah. And I think you'll make up another opportunity. We talked about yesterday. I think the Jets would be a good landing spot for him. I banged up. They are interesting at the receiver position. Interesting. Uh, you said Odell could get more chances in the Titans game. What changed? Well, I think I said I hoped he would get more chances. That's what I said. So nothing changed. I did hope he would get more chances. He didn't. That's where we stood. So I felt like having the case. We're not going to be able to get it done. Brought us to spot wise. We need more of that spot. And that's what we're going to be. Nothing about Odell. Nothing that he could do. And that sense is just we weren't able to get it done. Make it fit, make it work. We're going to call it. And I was hoping we could. And we did. Well, what were you laughing at there? It reminded me of the conversation earlier with Michael and Joe Gerardi and me and the ESPN executive. I was hoping we could get a more chances. Well, why didn't you give him more chances? I did. I just did. No, well, he got it. I didn't get it. The game plan didn't work out.

If James didn't throw a 10 feet over his head, he'd have to have a chance. That's more than 100% more than he had in the previous two minutes. That's a great point. So it was all worked out. We were going to throw him a ball. But when he's doing here, though, let's be honest. What he's doing here is guys don't ask me. I'm saying nice things so he gets another opportunity. That's what he's doing here. But I don't think it's anybody's fault. It's just that, hey, your starting quarterback gets hurt. They're running the ball more. They need the ball. They need the ball opportunities. And listen, guys got healthier, right? Like all of a sudden, remember, when he made the team, there was questions neighbors would play. Barrios was here. Well, Barrios is back. Neighbors is fine. And there's just no place for more. And that's the main thing because Odele is not a special team's guys. No. Not going to be able to do any of that. Barrios can. So there's the reason why you keep Barrios open to him. And Harbaugh hopes he lands somewhere. It's not like high school debate. It wasn't working for us. We didn't think we'd make us better or we'd had him on the field. That's really the end of the conversation. That's it. He is. No doubt. I hope he lands somewhere. I mean, he's a great friend. I love the guy. And I hope he lands somewhere. It gets a shot.

I think he's determined to, you know, and probably a better situation for him. It just wasn't working here. That's all I need. He hates the, he doesn't like that they're pulling at the thread. The writers. No, the media. Well, he doesn't want to keep talking about it because it's part of him that hates the fact that they had to do this. Right. But what was it he brought him in, hoping it would work. It didn't work. Right. Now, obviously it was a slow day because they're asking about Odell when everybody in their mother knows exactly why he was cut. Yes. Do I have an example on why it was a slow day? Here's the example. And here's where Allen's going to be interested. John Harbaugh was asked who was his favorite from the Beatles. On my favorite, Beatles of Paul McCartney probably had the best career. Polish, you know, right? Wayne's? Great. Oh, it's almost someone else. Yeah. Still doing great concerts. Why they asking that? I guess somebody must have been sunny day and he, I guess the Beatles became a topic of conversation. I mean, John, when he didn't kill that, I think John had a chance to kind of go mono-o-mono with Paul.

He didn't sound like he put a lot of thought into it. Oh, Paul! My favorite. Mine too. So he had three Odell questions and a Beatles question. Yeah. So it was, you know, it's a Wednesday over at the farm. And there wasn't much going on, I guess. But it's fine. And I thought Allen would be interested in that. No, no, no. I was wondering how you'd react to that. Did you feel like he gave a thoughtful answer or an easy answer? No, nobody. The only time people were going to question is if you say wringo, right? Yeah, then you're like, why? Because Nancy, he's right there for you. Because I like the questions. I think any of them are good answer. But obviously when you talk about the work beyond the Beatles, like George was the first one out of the gate that had the big level out and everything. And then Paul with wings and John did a great job and would have probably continued to have the career that Paul's had. But Paul's a good answer. Paul's my favorite. Nancy's is George. George's Paul. Mine's Paul. Do you have a favorite, Peter? Um, well, remember when we had the big argument, I was a big team.

John. Peter, that was a, that was a, that was a K-show vehicle. Yeah. That, that argument was, because he had an argument. He called John the leader of the Beatles. I called him the lead. And I said they didn't have a lead. You know, Paul and John wrote all the music. There was no frontman. I was, because we were talking like the best frontman. I had a top line that, and he said John Lennon and I said no, because he was not a frontman. It got spirited. But he was not a frontman. Well, I, again, I don't want to do this all again. But I feel like it, a lot of ways he was the spirit, a lot of the spirit of the band. But, but obviously everyone played a major role. And it's early worked out for Paul. I don't think he did. I think he's happy with how things landed. And McCartney's like Harry Styles now. Go ahead. Well, because the Beatles were obviously the boy band and they had all this stuff, then they kind of, they separated. They've all had their individual success. They did lose one who passed away.

But he has been the biggest commercial success as the band split up. Right. And Harry Styles was in one direction, right? One direction. Correct. I thought that was known. But I thought that was the opposite of you. The one direction I went was the opposite way of their music. They're thinking, wow. There's just so many. That bad, huh? Million reasons why it's like, don't like any of it, huh? I just know. I don't have any feelings about it. Harry Styles is better than you think. No, no, no, I know he's good. Very deep, thoughtful music. Very good. I'm not anti-Harry Styles at all. I just met one direction, never grabbed me in any, I didn't have any reason. Well, you wouldn't have a reason. You had young, my, if, if, yeah, if Maya was growing up in that era, every song in you, there were some, there'd be some that you have said. I like that. Yeah. Now, I've talked about this before. The one thing, instead of there's a billion things that's wrong with John not being here anymore, but if John was still here, we would, we would have ran into him because he was quintessential New York. He lived in New York. So as many times we'd been here, you'd see him in the car. He'd be proud to have interviewed him on MSG. Absolutely. You know, he would have been in the wild sightings.

We'd come into the meeting and be like, I just saw John Lennon out. So wait, when we were uptown, when we were by Lincoln Center, we would have seen him all the time. Oh, yeah. Oh, you hold on, hold on. All the time. I have to stop this right now. Yeah, I know. All the time. We both were in. All the time. Yeah, all the time. Like we see side fell all the time. That's true. Like we see all the other big Upper West Side celebrities all the time. Never see anything. Not one. No one all the time. He's down about. We would have just been like, hey, guys, I'll let him again. Barefoot in the park. I saw, I saw Kostis once having dinner a couple of blocks from the station. Mod over Clarks. Not at PJ Clarks. That is at a little pizza place. You didn't say hello. When we were at Columbus, F, I did not. He was like, you know, sitting in the restaurant. But it felt like the celebrities don't want to be seen. But in the limited time, I would say limited because the people broke up into seven days. And then he was killed in 80. But in that decade, he was out in the bout in New York. I mean, I wasn't. I was too young. I don't think he looked like he was, he's not the guy that be in the suite.

He's not the guy that would be ducking. I think he'd just be out. What I'm saying is even the guys who are like that, you still don't see them every day. I wouldn't say it seemed every day, but over the course of the 25 years that we've been, that we, I mean, at this radio station, I'd have, I think at least a handful of times I'd say. Yeah. Don, take a breath. You know what he's doing? Being that guy? Captain literal man. Well, he, Colin, he just, but Alan's level, be with me for a second. All right. Stand with me. Stand with you. You, you, you, you say, you think he just threw something out there and I'm being that guy. But when he just had a moment to think about it, he just said quietly because you were starting to talk. He thinks that if, if, if John had been around, he would have seen him in those years. I had a full time. Right. You think five Lenin sightings are happening. If we, if we, if I, he's been, he's been doing this for 25 years. But could we come up during that time? Five times in 25 years. It's not a lot. Could we, you are such a troll. Could we name five A list celebrities that you've seen in the wild over the last 25

years in New York? I'm going to tell you what I'm going to tell you the difference between all the celebrities and John. Okay. Is that as he's in, because I'm sure there have been celebrities that have walked by me. Right. And I didn't notice. And that could happen with somebody would have said there's John. Because everybody would know John Lenin, but you, but you don't know, he wouldn't be hiding his own. Many, but I see, I would see him at Clark's, but he had a big beard. He'd have his head down. And nobody's screaming, hey, there's Mandy Patan, but they would say that for John Lenin. Well, who's Mandy Patan? See now you just, he might, he might physically kill you. He's giving me the love that he should be giving you. Maybe because you know, but here's the thing. It's the five o'clock hour. John went up. You can't do this to the man. But John, you don't, but you wouldn't have kept long hair forever. He wouldn't have been like making walking. Would he have had like a tighter? What do you think he would look like?

We don't know. We see AI. What would he look like? Oh, I bet AI could tell us that. What would he look like today? There's a whole generation of people that wouldn't recognize Paul Simon because they just don't know Paul Simon. But every generation knows John Lenin. But it's a nice thought. And you and I think it's the thought. No, no, young, you 20 year olds are not recognizing John Lenin. Yes, they would. No, they wouldn't. They would. No. Well, he was still part of culture for the last 40 years. If he was still our 20 year olds recognizing Paul McCartney. Yes. Oh, yeah, they know 20 year olds are. I might not know him like by direct name, but they'd say that that's the right guy on the street. That's the power guy. I think so. He's got a very distinct look.
