I mean, but how did you not think of this the moment they approved the title of the movie? Yeah. Well, you won't forget that title.
There are some bad titles for movies. I will not forget that title. So before we say hi to the people. Let's talk about what Alan is wearing right now. Look at this great shirt. The link is in the description at the Lelemlet in north Hollywood. It's our blue ray release party or my big fat independent movie. it's gonna be a lot of fun at the NoHo 7. And Alan will be there actually. I will be there. Yeah. Are you, you should moderate the Q and A. I mean, I can do that. I mean, I can do that. I mean, I wait. No, I did the attack of the dock. Yes, I know that, but have you ever seen this movie even? No, because I looked it up on Rotten Tomatoes. And I think it's like 22%. I think so. To round the same is digger. So that's not bad. I know, there you go. So I don't listen to Rotten Tomatoes. So, yeah, so come to that screening. It's gonna be a lot of fun.
And then final, you know about this. Alan, our Kickstarter. I haven't even talked about this on a live stream. We got, we became a project we love on Kickstarter. It's the Film Threat Compendium and the complete digital archive of Film Threat Magazine. We did it in 24 hours. We raised our initial 25,000. We're doing stretch goals. We're gonna announce them later this week. And I'm beside myself. This is a project over a decade in the making. Hardcover book, coffee table book with full color, deluxe book about the history of independent film through the lens of Film Threat. And then the complete archive of the magazine from the 80s and 90s. You can go to Kickstarter. The link is in the description. And we've got a short video that I can show you right now
that'll tell you everything about the campaign. Before the internet, before social media, before YouTube, there was Film Threat. Since 1985, Film Threat has covered the movies. Hollywood didn't know what to do with cult films, independent cinema, Midnight Movies, Underground Rearedness. Now we're turning that history into the Film Threat Compendium. This massive collectible book is packed with 300 plus pages of interviews behind the scene stories and classic Film Threat coverage featuring Sam Rang, John Waters, Quentin Tarantino, Tim Burton, David Lynch, and a whole army of indie film outlaws. We're talking natural born killers, reservoir dogs, Ed Wood, Roger Corman's insane, fantastic board movie. But this isn't some dusty museum piece. The Compendium tells the story of Film Threat itself. The Xerox Zines, The Late Knights, crashing film festivals, they Detroit to LA Migration, and sticking it to the studio PR machine. But we're not stopping with the book. We're also creating a fully remastered digital archive of the entire Film Threat Brent run,
including the early Xerox Zines and the legendary Film Threat video guide, every page, every cover, every glorious piece of indie film history. We need your help now to make this happen. Our initial Kickstarter goal pays for the scanning restoration, design, and production that will bring the Compendium to life. The exclusive rewards available won't be around forever. Once this Kickstarter ends, you may not get another chance to grab these kickass rewards. Let's preserve history by the book. Get the exclusives, help us bring this project to life. Thank you so much. So check it out on Kickstarter and give it a look and contribute something. It's really kind of all, you know, it's gonna be rare. Once it comes out, it's gonna be rare. So there you go. You're like Jennifer. You have so many different looks over the years. Me? Oh my God. My hair, when I look back at the like 80s, 90s, I definitely look like a lesbian at some point.
One haircut definitely had lesbian vibes. I don't know. Yeah, I had a, here's what it proves. I don't care what I look like. That's a looking through the old photos at Film Thread. I'm like, yeah, I really didn't spend time. I was not any sort of fashion. I went through phases when I was a teen, but what can I say? Yeah, well, I mean, even watching that, I'm like, oh, that's Chris. Oh, that's Chris. I think the same thing. Oh my God. All right. We have a lot to do today. Let's get, but let's talk to the people and see who's here. Wow. All right, John Manelang, remember for 50 months. Thanks, John. Good to see you here. We're working in the 50s now with these membership. John who get to five film-to-remember ships. Hey, Shatter Dimensions. Thank you. That's awesome. I mean, I did too, but okay.
Let's see. All right, move on. Oh, so I just like 100 to the Kickstarter. Let's fucking go hell film threat. 69. 69. John, who, remember for 18 months, I just upgraded my pledge. Up yours. Oh, thank you. Leave Ericsson, hail my fellow diggers. To be a deckward, is digger getting a hard r? Or is it rated a hard r? Digger or digger? I don't know. I don't know what it's rated, honestly. I don't know. I didn't want a lot to discuss today. So let's get to it. Avengers Doomsday came out. Avengers Doomsday is released in conjunction with Avengers and game encore. Gotta keep track of all these things, Alan. They've announced a silence your phone promo. Now, I did not go to the theater to see this,
but it's online. Want to take a look? Yeah. Should we take a look at this promo? I can't wait to see what Mark Knuckle-O makes us do. Yes, well, here, let's take a look at this promo for to silence your phones, which I like this. And I really do like this. I wish Thanos could snap everyone's phone out of existence in a movie theater. Do you hear about the case? Rageye at AMC Burbank 16, sprayed mace on someone who had their phone out all row of people. He was so pissed off. He got arrested. Some heroes don't wear capes. I want to give that guy some film threat merch or something. That man was Bruce Wayne. I have not seen this promo. Let's watch it. And trust me. For the AMC.
Whoa! This is your way! No, no, no. No, no, no. They got everyone together. Look, I want to see who's here. They're Sean Jr. Hey, there you go. There's your guy. My buddy, the fantastic four, Captain America, with your soul. Scott Summers. Scott Summers. Yeah, there's a row of nobody in their cameras. They film all this at one time. I bet they did not film all this at one time. This was, I'm gonna guess no. I bet they said, hey, since you're all at Comic Con right now. Oh, yeah. Probably. All right, well, there it is, Alan. What do you think? What do you think? Yeah.
It's sad that we're still having to put these videos out. Well, I'm not a fan of, like I'm embarrassed. I even get like, just, I would never, I'm an airplane mode guy. I mean, the theater, once the trailers are over, airplane mode, I even take, like I have an Apple watch that sometimes glows. I will put my sleeve over it. I want no distractions at the movies. None. Zero. So, yeah, it's fine. It's all fine now. By the way, Spencer Pratt just liked one of my tweets. Yeah, this one. What a, what a, I love that you're like on the topic here. No, someone, someone had responded to one of my posts in the dumbest ways. And people, this guy is getting like a ratio for it. It's amazing.
Yep. I've never seen someone, I've never seen someone so stupid, replied to one of my tweets the way they did. So, while we're doing the show and having conversation about the Doomsday Silence Your Phone promo, you're checking your X feed to see that Spencer Pratt. No, my phone, my phone went off, said that Spencer Pratt liked it to me. So, you got a notification during the segments where we're talking about not being distracted. Can you turn your notifications off? I'll wait, Alan. I'll wait. So, is the notification off? Yes. Yes. It was Spencer Pratt. Yeah, we hate everything. Okay, let's get to the news, Alan. Yes. We need news. Game of Thrones is hitting the big screen.
I'm not sure how excited I am. This is from the Hollywood Reporter. The hitting the big screen in 2029 with Warner Brothers, A-Gon's Quest. Alan, you've got notes for the story. What's in this? Well, Parabroes has announced that Game of Thrones, A-Gon's Conquest will hit theaters on June 1st, 2029. Marking the franchise's first feature film, Owen Harris will direct from the script written by Bo Willemann. Though no cast has yet been announced, the movie will tell the story of A-Gon, Targaryen's Conquest of Westros, taking place long before the events of the original HBO series. The project will announce, officially be announced at Cinemacon earlier, or was announced at Cinemacon earlier this year. And after more than a decade of discussion about bringing Game of Thrones to the big screen, back in 2013, Game of Thrones creators David Benioff and Dan Weiss,
even pitched the idea of ending the series with three feature films. The HBO series helped me ran until it's 2019 finale, which making the jump to theaters, without making the jump to theaters. George R. Martin previously resisted the idea of Game of Thrones' movie, because he didn't want major portions of his book cut down for a film. He also worried that the movie would simply center on popular characters, like John Snow or Daenerys Targaryen. This new film instead goes back to the beginning of the Targaryen Conquest. Well, the thing is after that season eight, and did I just checked out, I don't care. House of the Dragon season one was actually very good. I lost interest after season two, and people who like Game of Thrones have kind of like checked out I don't know how much I care about a movie, but I absolutely loved Night of the Seven Kingdoms.
Night of the Seven Kingdoms. That, no. Night of the, is it Night of the, a Night of the Seven Kingdom? Whatever it is, the Night Show. I love that show. It was a great self-contained story. I don't know. Can you tell Game of Thrones on the big screen? Will it be a three hour epic? Would it be a better season on HBO? I don't know. Alan, will you see it? No. No, I've never watched Game of Thrones. I saw House of the Dragon for a season because it was an assignment, but I can't do television. I don't have time to devote to it. My wife started watching Breaking Bad, and I didn't see her for three weeks. She is so into the show. That one's a worthwhile investment. I just think after the way season eight ended, you could tell side quest stories like Night of the Seven Kingdoms.
That's fine. That was a very good show, mainly because it was such a self-contained, street level show of the people. I don't know. It was very sweet. So I just don't know how much I care. In 2029, that's a long ways off. Well, you know what it is. Streamy has ruined momentum. Yes. Because you have a season, and then you wait over a year for the next season, and it just destroys any momentum a good story has. And I guess this is Warner Brothers fulfilling their 15 movies a year commitment. Yeah, that seems like it might be. We've got to get 15 products in theaters. I know. Can you imagine if they could have done the end of series with three feature films? That's three right off the bat. So they only had to do 12 more. Yeah, I'm not super excited. The Lanterns writers say the show's body-cop relationship
was informed by Biden and Kamala. Wait, what? I totally believe this. Oh, no, no, I've seen this clip and I can't wait to share it with you. So you're saying the dialogue from Lanterns was based on conversations between Biden and Kamala? Yes, I believe that. Kamala, you know, VP word salad, Kamala Harris. I have a very specific thought about this clip. Let's watch it. And the reactor, and it's like, it's 90 seconds. So let me let's just watch together. And you tell me your thoughts. You got to see this. It's like, D.F. wanting the, this is for generational war that we're in, right? Yeah. Where you're like, you're looking at your elders. You're like, when are you all going to give us some space? Yeah. When you're not, I mean, name an industry. And I'll tell you somebody who's frustrated that they haven't, they've only hit, they've hit a ceiling because somebody else won't get out of the way. Yeah, we talk about that a lot. That is so, I mean, whether you like it or like,
what do you like to see it or not? That was so central to our conversation to you about. What does it mean when you are the superhero and have been the superhero for decades? And you've been holding on to this sort of legacy, you know, and then all of a sudden, this young guy comes around. Young A.M. Black. Young A.M. Black. You know, and handsome. It's just these writers are obsessed with race for this show. And we haven't even gotten to the young and black. Let's let it, I just, I feel bad that this is where we are in society. Like, let's continue. Yeah. You know, and handsome, you know, and strong and confident, you know, it's threatening and fearless, of course. That's threatening, you know, and that's a converse, but that's so much about the conversation we wanted to have. We were talking a lot about this. This this story they've come up with for season one of lanterns is not even about
green lanterns or heroes. It's about whatever they saw in the news today. This is how lame these writers are. It's it's so pathetic and sad to me that they they didn't you know, they didn't understand the assignment. They made it about themselves, right? Them trying to like get out of the way so I can get an opportunity, which I can understand, but you have to, as they say in the mafia, you got to make you got to make your bones. Yeah. Look, I know you I know you built this company for decades, but when's it my turn? Right. Well, there's more to this. Let's go to the let's get to the Biden-Harris stuff. So much about the conversation we wanted to have. We were talking a lot about like just the idea of replacement. Like when do you bow out gracefully? How long do you hold on? And like right as we were have, right as we were having the conversation, we had already started talking about it and breaking it. The Democratic National Convention was because they're all entitled.
They're all entitled here. I'm a young black person. Of course I need to, you know, that's the entitlement. I why people move over. I don't care what you look like. You just got it. Everyone has to earn it. Well, they care what they look like. And about it and breaking it, the Democratic National Convention was coming up and we were trying, and that's when we were trying to figure out like who is going to be the front runner here? Is it going to be Kamala or is it going to be Biden? And so that it just amplified what we were already talking about. And we would like talk in depth about what that looked like for for both parties, what that looked like for our show, what that looks like and like politic, what that looks like in our industry. And really we just like extrapolated like characters. You know what I haven't heard? I read some Green Lantern comics and was inspired by this fantastic galactic a cop story. Confronting aliens, you could in some sort of subtext comment on the world as a whole.
But you choose to make it about yourself being entitled to a place and make it about what you watched on CNN that night. I know they make it sound like a black person had never been president before. Yeah, oh my. There's not much left. Characters that we knew in real life. Yeah, you know, and like dumped it into those guys. She admits they kind of dumped their story. Into all these other influence. I never once heard someone say I read the comic. I really identified with John Stewart or Hal Jordan. I admired their heroism. No words. No wonder this is going to be the worst show on TV this year. And this is a year where we saw Starfleet Academy. By the way, which as bad as that show was,
there were moments it was at least humorous. What do you think about all this Alan? Okay, well, I don't know about that, but we talked about it on Monday. I don't know if you saw verses or not. But on Monday, I brought up the fact that it just seems like this entire series was built on this idea of a black man taking over for a white man. And that this is the episode where they do it. Because it just felt like the events that occurred in the first six episodes really meant nothing when it culminated in the seventh episode. The fact that an alien had attacked a small town. You know, why are we upset with Hal Jordan for that? You know, it was just, you know, the things that led up to it was not about the events that happened to it. It was about the fact that that John Stewart was going to take over for Hal Jordan. John Stewart was burned to live in a car crash or in a car arson incident.
For 20 minutes, he got burned and then 20 minutes later, he was back to normal. No one ever mentioned it. No one ever talked about to me. That's kind of a life altering event. Something you'll never forget no matter what happens. But it's meaningless now. It's a memory that just left his head. And that's what this series is. And that's what it is. It's, you know, I want to write a story about, you know, taking over, you know, black man taking over for a white man. And that's all I'm going to do here. And everything else leading up to it is incidental. And that's ultimately how I see this entire series. It's just, you know, it's just, it's the writing is just awful. Yeah, the writing is terrible. My prediction, it will win multiple Emmys for writing or acting. It's going to win. This show is is primed because the win of the critics, choice super awards.
Yeah, it's primed to win a ton of Emmys. Not because it's a good Green Lantern story because it has it aligns with the right politics and the right messaging. And I just think at this point, look, does every story where it's getting tiresome? You know, the I'm tired boss. I feel that way. I'm just exhausted. I have exhaustion of like, can we just have black characters be people in a story? Like a family that struggles or someone with normal everyday problems that is relatable to everyone as universal. There's universal. But in a story of that is a galactic story where you've got red, blue, green aliens, do they give a crap about, you know, racism on earth? They could you could certainly deal with it in a bigger, more meaningful science fiction way.
But it's so earthbound and narcissistic. It's just at this point, it's just boring. It's just boring because there's a sameness through the thinking for all of this. We already it is makes everything just predictable. And when identity informs outcomes, that it destroys the potential for great storytelling. Meaning you see what a character looks like and you're like, I already know where this is going. And then we're always proven right. Yeah. You know, the biggest comment I always get on my timeline, speaking of which is why do you and I make this show political all the time? This is why it gets political all the time because politics gets into the shows that we watch. And when we want to watch a Green Lantern show, we would like to watch it without politics. But no, it's injected into it.
And then we have to respond it to it in a political way. And you know, what are we supposed to do? I would much rather be talking about television shows and movies without politics. But if they keep shoving it in there, we're going to have to talk about it. Love it. Alan, you love Godzilla. Yes. I know you love Godzilla. Hey, Alan, so we got Godzilla to record one of those Alan, Alan, Alan videos. It happened, but the reactions to Godzilla minus zero are out. It premiered at a film festival in New York. And the reviews are over the top positive. Some saying I'll bring the story up for us to go through.
They're comparing it. It's like the Empire Strikes Back, you know, of sequels. It's bigger than the original in scope and scale. It takes some big swings, story-wise. Here's the story from Variety. They collected some of the best reactions. People are saying it's epic jaw-dropping and should be nominee for best picture. That's Godzilla minus zero. And I'm really ecstatic that we're going to see a King Gidora in the new Toho Godzilla universe here. It's, I love these. The Japanese movies are so much better, including Shin Godzilla, which I love. So I'm in a theater recently. So let's go through the reaction. Yeah. Excuse me. You have them, Alan. I don't. I have to read it off of this. Okay, here we go.
Can you see it or just, I don't know about you, but I get pretty excited when football season rolls around. That's why I always make a stop at total wine and more before kickoff. Whether it's craft bourbon, cold beer, or ready to drink cocktails, it's easy to build a lineup that keeps everyone happy. And when I'm getting everything ready for game day, it's nice knowing I'm getting the lowest prices. Make total wine and more part of your game day tradition. Spirits are not sold in Virginia and North Carolina. Drink responsibly. Be 21. I'm Hannah. I've lost 75 pounds in 20 months with GLP ones, plus diet and exercise. To stay informed about serious side effects, go to row.co-slash-safety. Put it up by your nose. I can see it. I can see it. Okay, go for it. And we're Douglas, completely blown away by Takashi Yamazaki's,
sorry, Godzilla minus zero, which delivered on Godzilla minus one. In ways, I wasn't expectation with heightened emotions and VFX. Lots of holy shit moments and it. Yeah. All right. What are you doing? Even make me cry, brilliant. Oh my god. Try to mean that's it. Godzilla minus one is. Sorry. Go for it. I can try to make it bigger. I'm trying to make it bigger for you. Oh, I got it. Did I just read this one? I read that one. Yeah, yeah. Holy shit. Brilliant. Okay. Okay. We're going to read it, Lewis. Godzilla minus one is an overwhelming. Zero. Yes. Kaiju filmmaking. Aside from the jaw dropping spectacle, Takashi Yamazaki packs an emotional wallop as the characters grabble with lingering trauma and their duties to the future. Never thought I'd cry to Godzilla. More, more. From a good old Jacob Fisher, DF,
Godzilla minus zero takes some of the most bold swings I've seen in a sequel in a sequel take. And they all land incredibly well, such a brilliant deep dive into the facets of trauma and never ending cycles of war, such hatred, a phenomenal blockbuster with stunning spectacle and a lot to say. More. From Amy, Amy Hain Kim. Godzilla minus zero reduced me to a sobbing mess. It is a glorious continuation of the first film taking its themes and character arcs to new heights. The spectacle is somehow topped with sheer what the fuck moment value and the beauty of the central bound family that truly stands out. Let's go more. From Hoi Tran Bui, Paper Tiger and all in this. Wait, what? Here we go. Godzilla minus zero. Yeah, that's about Paper Tiger. This is the one you might. From Hoi Tran Bui,
Godzilla minus zero were so back I cried, I gasped, and when Godzilla's main theme came on, I clapped like a baby seal. Yeah, David Gonzalez from Cinematic Real. You can see every adjective and measure to describe Godzilla minus zero. Its sheer scope finds a way to surpass them all. But the biggest surprise, Kashi Yamazaki somehow takes a Godzilla film of this magnitude and turns it into an emotional family drama that a Godzilla movie should be. I mean, the first movie was exactly here. Godzilla movie has never made me cry, can officially be crossed off my bingo card, a Kaiju-sized W of a sequel. I mean, it is, I haven't read anything negative. Here's another one. Yeah, friend, good old dancing Dan films. Godzilla minus zero opens with a blast of monster mayhem, so good you think it's impossible top, but it keeps getting better.
Just as eloquently filmed and emotional as minus one, even with even more inspiring action and socio-political relevance thrilling throughout. Geez. More. Joe Blow. The best follow up, G move film to date. Best comparison would be this one, the Godfather Part II to Godzilla minus one's Godfather. Toho should win another Oscar for this film, should be nominated for Best Picture. Like this Kaiju experience needs to be seen in IMAX. I believe tickets go on sale next week. Okay, well, I'm definitely gonna see in IMAX. Godzilla minus zero is a truly epic cinematic feat. It takes the King of Monsters to a whole new level, while still grounding everything in human emotional stakes. I must see blockbusters that truly delers unmatched VFX action and scale, rousing incredible film making. And oh, and from our good friend,
Merissa Hill over at Shadee B, Godzilla minus zero actually absolutely rips. The Kashi Yamazaki's made a worthy successor to minus one, with a family-centric story that's also filled with thrilling action sequences and a draw-dropping on us to battle, but it works in the quieter moments too. We're empathetic to these quieter moments. These characters that are still reeling from the Atomic Bomings and the previous films, Godzilla Attack. It's still astonishing to me that these films made on a fraction of the budget as current day blockbusters look this good. Strong recommend watching it in IMAX or Dolby. Bring your earplugs because Godzilla, the King of Monsters has never looked or sounded this brand. And I think that was one of the touching family moments. Yeah, yeah, another one. Eric Francisco, awe-inspiring isn't just wonder, but fearful respect. This is Godzilla minus zero.
Another masterpiece from the Kashi Yamazaki who builds on his sombre vision for Kaiju cinema. A true escalation from minus one where we again confront our fragile existence that our rating is legit. I am told they're absolutely some frightening and horrific scenes. Like we never, a Godzilla movie, I don't know, has ever gotten, they're pretty bloodless for the most part. I mean, Shin Godzilla gets a little intense, but this rating are that's historic for a Godzilla film. And that they actually, I suspect that they show the real cost of the damage. And I suspect we may see some gore, so to speak, in a Godzilla movie. Let's see, there's a few more. And Anthony Orlando, a Godzilla minus zero is King. filmmaker Takashi Yamazaki's movie joins Terminator 2 in the Dark Knight as one of the best
sequels ever made, delivering a bigger, bolder, and more beautiful blockbuster that doesn't sacrifice its human heart, exploring the fear, hatred, and pure emotion of a Kaiju monster epic. That's not what it is. But that's okay. So I mean, look, I, I, to say I'm excited, it's beyond, it's beyond. I can't wait for this movie. It was on my top 10 list of most anticipated, when it was announced. Yeah. And I'll be there day one. I mean, I'm hoping you and I get to see it a little early. So we can give our reaction, maybe an out of the theater, but I for one can't wait. It's, it's, it's just, it's really, you know what it is. There's only really, I can think off the top of my head. There are two healthy franchises. Godzilla and Dune. Dune is actually,
but it has grown the fandom since Dune Part One and two came out. It's been re-released in theaters. It's also, you know, we've seen it on whatever it's on VOD and there are many ways to see Dune Part One and two. You can watch it. I believe it's on Netflix as well. Like Dune, fandom has grown. And anticipation for Dune three is off the charts. And this follow up minus zero to minus one is is also I can't think of other franchises that are healthy. Marvel, there's apathy. Even though Doomsday, I believe will be a huge hit financially. We don't know about creatively. Will it be a hit creatively? Who knows? Star Wars, nobody cares. I mean, it's, it's very sad to me that there are like two franchises you can really classify as healthy. Can you think of any,
Star Trek is dead? Can you think of any other franchises that are healthy outside of Godzilla and Dune? I'm trying to think. I mean, had had minions been a success, that would have probably been right up there. I can't think of single one. Hey, speaking of Marvel, let's talk about the M. She. You. We watched a video the other week about Dr. Dune. Here's a video here about the women in the Marvel cinematic universe. I'm going to show this. You might not watch the whole thing, but let's check this out. Someone suggested we play this video. Are we ready? Yes. Let's go. Let's go old school. Let's let's keep in at the Avengers. Let's go Alan. Hey, Dean. Good. Everyone can make it. Is everyone here? And a counted boy? Here. Here. Vincent. Ah, and all right. Who said that? Me? I'm standing right in front of you. Oh, right. Why? Here, here too. Yeah. Well, I'll be fair. You might have missed you on a
count of your shrinking crown. But I'm not using that. Oh, you're just like that. I can't. It's I see, but this is kind of like a four members. Yeah, I know. That's why I fear. You know I'm a founding member, right? Well, okay. Yes, you were there when we got our start, but I wouldn't go so far as to say. I literally named the team Tony. Right. Did you seriously forget that? Did all of you forget that? I've been here since day one. I for one. I just assumed this was a matter of if you could vote or not. Why are you talking? You're the one who shouldn't be here. Just about last week again, because look, I get I'm sorry. All right. But back in my day, it was a considered racist to say that. No, I don't belong here. Wait, but she's a lot to say now. You're not a founding member. Come on. I'm the first Avengers. Yeah, because you're old. You're really fucking old. But she didn't show up until we thought you out, which I remember because I was there. I was there too. You don't hear me bragging. No, honey. I won't calm down, honey. This is bullshit. Did you remember this being an all-boys club or something? No, no, no. I remember there being a woman at some point. I just I thought it was a black widow. Black widow. The villain. Yeah, but you
know, she gets better and you know, all the scarlet wins. The villain. I can't believe you guys. All those times I've written my neck to help you all out on the field in the press. Financially, everyone you know is I'm the one writing the chat. I'm rich too, moron. Only my daddy did to make his money war profiteering. My daddy, I saw the chin. It's sweetie. I think we all just need to make people laugh. I'm sure everyone is just a bit confused. We'll clear it all up. Look at his play, okay? Yeah, I was just as confused as to why you were here. Look at you, look at you. Look at you. You jerks are so full of it. Treating head, reunite like we're small and it's significant. He can grow too, you know. You're too, honey. I mean, we're naming the team. We actually know. Don't forget that. That's a really important point. But besides that, we might have been small, but we played a big part. That's right. Hank and I, finding side by side, our playful manzer. The hat's within some of the most refined moments of our relationship. I mean, come on. When people think of Hank and I, us together, you know, be the first thing that comes to mind. The immediate first striking
image that'll blend their head. It'll be Hank hitting me with the finance little quips you've ever heard. No, I think they got it. This is the one just a slap to the face. And I'll take it on the chin, like always, because that's all there is between naked eyes. I'm always taking it on the chin. Oh, it just has to be a firm. So go on. You all have your fun. If I'm not one in here, I'm sure oh my god. This is why they don't. This is why maybe they don't. I mean, she just, she just drones on and on. And what? I would want another minute of her just talking and talking and talking. I don't think I don't think the M. She is going to return. I have a sneaking suspicion. Having announced two projects. Post, you know, Doomsday got, you know, secret wars coming. X men. Ghost Rider. Black Panther three. I don't think it's going to return. But I love this channel. I love this channel. I love the DCU. Yeah, that was funny.
Yep. Back in the day, that's what I was collecting. At least that version of the Avengers. Yes. Solid J will put a link in the description to that video. That was fun. Let's go to your comments before we get to our digger review. Oh, a lot of comments. Let's start from the top. Let's go. Yes. Darth Yeager remember for 32 months. Thanks again, Chris, for helping on my trick 40th stream. 60th. Uh, thank you, Darth Yeager. I sent them a video that was embarrassing. Not gonna lie. But thank you, Darth Yeager. Bill, this person is where, yeah, focus on the show unless it's to answer emails, then you have to stop the show and focus on that. I think that was directed to you, Alan. Or was it directed to you? Possibly. Ferret man for 1.99 phones off before trailers. Yes. No, I'm sorry. I agree with you. I see. So we're going to eat cold.
For five, hail, Alan and Frank. Even I have black fatigue. This stuff makes me sick. I don't need representation in pop culture. These people do not speak for me. Well, I actually, I don't mind representation. I think that's a good thing. But it's like, can we just, it's like, can just be part of the group and not like, it's not all about, make it all about race. Everything is about race. Like it gets tiresome. Yeah. In representation, what's that like? Yeah, I'm just trying to think, um, in the history of all the friends I've had, I've had a lot of diverse friends. We never talk about that stuff. I know. We just don't care. We talk about comics and movies and games and just life and bands and I don't know like other stuff in life. Yeah. I mean, thank you so much. So my parents credit to my parents credit,
we have, we, I cannot think of a single conversation I had with my parents about race about the white people next door or across the street or, uh, or, you know, the makeup of their co-workers. We just, we're just a family and talk about family things. Graph web for two dollars in the name of all this, holy hashtag, I got to cancel this new plus. Great. Graph web for two jewels. So I star. Thank you. Kung Fu hot dog for ten. Hey, gents. Chris pledged for the Compendium Hardback edition and limited film threat pin. Question about what is your favorite piece of film history that you own? Can't wait to see your minus zero reactions. Yeah, I can't wait to see minus zeroes. Thank you for that. Thank you for pledging and backing the Compendium campaign. Favorite piece of film history that I own. God, I've got like, and I've got so many
collectibles, but I have a Star Trek insignia pin that I got when I saw the motion picture. So in like 79, but I have a lot of stuff. I'll have to, I could do a whole show on that. We'll show until what about you, Alan? Minus you guys always comment on it, but it's my Kermit in a coffin. And this is a it's a it's a it's basically the Kermit photo puppet. So I could actually take it out take you know, use it as a photo puppet. Yes, go ahead. Thanks, Kung Fu hot dog. Appreciate you. Troy Null, remember for 50 months. Happy end of the month. Love this channel. Thanks, Troy. Pilgrim Media for two. I was watching your Blu-ray Chris good times. Oh, wow. Attack of the dog or the other one's not out yet. Yeah, the other one's about to come out.
Thanks Pilgrim. Daniel Ormond. Who's that? For 999. Since you mentioned shoving it in there, when are we getting Alan's review of Long Dong Silver? I've heard the lead actor is a bit stiff. Yeah. I could review it, but it finished too early. Doc Possum for five. Force Alan to read more stuff and make the ending up. By the way, people really like my embellishment of the riffing. People have been ever my embellishment of the Avengers and game post credits. CMD for 10. Will you be reviewing Zach London, aka Gossip Goblins fully AI Peach Film Gods Don't Give Gifts? Going to limited theaters October 30th, his AI short film Pomegranate was very good. I, if it's in a theater near us, we'll go see it. Yeah. I haven't heard of this, but that sounds
cool. I did hear a Pomegranate. Leisure suit, Mohamed for 10 greetings. Been listening to you guys for years. First time sending a super chat. Have you heard of Mary Lee Wee Rollong? Yes, I just reviewed the most recent version of it a couple months ago. Link later's new film will shoot over 20 years. Yeah, I'm really excited about it. I hope the actors live long enough to finish the movie. Yeah, that would be an issue. Thank you, Leisure suit, Mohamed. Pilgrim Media for 20 cast more Asians. That's right. Yeah, why don't they do that? I know. Lee Farrickson, five jewels. Go team. Thank you. Tony Lies, a rhetorical question. What does the DNC have anything to do with green lanterns? Well, that's my whole point with commenting on that clip is you're watching the news. You should be reading green lantern comics everywhere on the toilet before you go to bed.
Steve yourself in that. Save the political commentary for a political show. And Alan, you pointed out, I saw your post about that. Like the only reason we comment on politics is it's in all these things. We can't avoid it. So I'm not sure on a saying anything about that. No, we get the point. It's the same point. They keep putting it in and then pulling us, trying to second up the discussion. Hey, I think it's time for our review today. Alan, you and I both saw Digger. And it's difficult to talk about this film. This Tom Cruise vehicle that we didn't out of the theater review. And at the time, I really liked it, but did not know
what to think about it. I needed time to process. I've now seen the film for a second time. And I'm just going to say off the bat that I like loved it even more upon second viewing. Because the things that bothered me upon first viewing were gone and I could focus on all the details of it. But let me get into it first. Digger, as you know, from the trailers, is about Rockwell Digger, lead by Tom Cruise. He's an oil baron. And he's an oil man who's rich, billionaire, beyond your dreams. And an accident, he's informed of an accident or something that might take place a cataclysm in Greenland. This cataclysm then breaks off a huge explosion and breaks off a chunk of a glacier that is now floating towards Europe and could kill millions of people.
And it's Digger's fault. And how's Digger going to get us out of this? And that's the setup that you've seen in the trailers. And we're going to go non-spoiler for this review. fully non-spoiler. And let me just say this. That's the setup. And after that setup, you'll be watching this story play out and very much inspired at least the first chunk of the kind of satirical humor you would see in Dr. Strange Love. Dr. Strange Love was Stanley Kubrick's satire about nuclear war. And this is satirical, some aspects of this are satirical talking about climate change and men filled with hubris where there may be catastrophic results for the world. There is something that then happens in the third act or the third. No, the first third.
There are two major things that I have between the first and second act. Yes. Correct. Something is revealed after this first third of the film that takes you completely out of the movie. It's a reveal that I was so into it like this is exciting. Oh my god, the world's at stake. This rock well character is crazy. He loves his cats. And he's surrounded by, well, he probably thinks they're all morons. And his actions could destroy parts of the world and kill a lot of people. He's responsible. But then once this thing is revealed, it completely changes everything we've seen. And going forward. Going forward. And so what you'd left with is I'm sitting here, I was into this movie. I really don't care about what the movie has become. Then what happens,
there's another reveal before the third act. So this is kind of book ending act to the middle act. There's another reveal where you realize what's really going on that kind of pulls you back in. It reminds me of a comedian when a comedian will do something on stage to lose the audience. This movie purposely loses the audience after the first third. Like by design, they do this, the this thing occurs and you don't care. And then it pulls you back in. It's like a comedian doing that. Let me talk about that. That will bring you back to caring about what's on screen. When you find out what's really going on. I'm not going to reveal what that is, but this is really a tour de force acting for Tom Cruise. Like you've never seen him before. You know, it's beyond
other over the top roles he's played. Like Les Grossman in Tropic Thunder. This is truly beyond anything. Great cast John Goodman as the president. And I've heard some people say it's it's Trump. If you think about Donald Trump all the time, everything is Trump. I think he's a very bizarre caricature of a president. I didn't I that didn't come to mind for me because I don't think about that guy. I'm not obsessed about him 24 or seven. Like some people seem to be that's okay. Riz Ahmed as this scientist, telling the truth about the world is there's a there's an amazing scene where diggers on a plane with Riz Ahmed's character. And he's talking about a piece of sushi. Basically explaining that there is the thing that happened the facts, but don't let the facts
get confused with the story you tell. And the layers that are in this movie with regard to its themes, I was totally on board with even though I think part of it is kind of tired. In the way in a way, you could compare this to a twilight zone or a black mirror in the way it deals with some aspects that could be considered science fiction. Again, I am dancing around talking about a lot of things in this movie. There's a 10 minute monologue in the middle of the film where digger talks to a group of politicians and leaders upset by what his actions have wrought. And he explains to the people that are angry at him that you want this. You're consumers. If I stop drilling for oil,
I'm just giving you what you want. And it's an amazing monologue one take with the camera. Incredible. The first time I saw the movie, I liked what I saw, but I needed to think about it. Upon second viewing, the movie is even better. It's also this movie is original. It's not a franchise or a spectacle blockbuster, even though it was kind of made on a blockbuster budget of over 100 million. It's practical in its effects. It's a big swing. It might take two viewings to enjoy it, but I'll take a movie that takes risks like this over another Marvel movie any day. So I'm recommending digger. Alan, what do you think? What I think. Okay. Well, I think it's fair for me to just start by saying, if I were to remove the politics from this movie, this movie would in my opinion have been really good.
And it has to do with those two twists. So you mentioned it. There's the first twist. And this twist is just so bizarre and out there that it just really clouds that second act. It's like, look, they're just continuing to story, but then there's this twist that just changes the way I see everything. And I'm like, and in my mind, I'm like, well, this is Alejandro Inuri too. I'm like, you know, this guy's not known for bad writing or bad storytelling. So there's, there has to be a point to this. There has to be a point to why this twist happens. Now, if you were to ask me, tell me that this movie was written by the writers of Lantern, I would have said, well, that was a stupid twist. And there's no way they can dig their way out of it. And I would have probably been right. But because this is in your E2, it's like, okay, I'm going to, I'm going to give you the
benefit of that doubt that this, that this spoiler you just gave me, this twist, there's a payoff at the end of it. So I'm going to just continue watching. And what that does is that it keeps you engaged in the movie because not only you're watching what's on screen, now you in the back of your mind, you're like, but what, what about what we just saw in all that stuff? And then the second reveal, the second twist happens. And it's like, oh my god, this is brilliant. This is absolutely brilliant. I love how this plays out. And so as a story from its structure to the beats, to the twists, to the ending, it's like, wow, this is an amazing movie. But then, but then you have to go and throw a hot, hotly contested political issue into it. And that's the environment. And and the thing is is, I think people who are on the side that the world is that climate change is going to happen and it's going to destroy the world. I don't believe that these people think the
issue is hotly contested, that it is stone cold fact that we're going to head into that if we continue down the path, the, the planet's going to go away and we, we, we as human beings have ruined everything. We've destroyed nature and weather altogether. And this is the, this is the thing that I talk a lot about movies that appear to be good, but aren't is because at some point, you have to buy the main point, the main conceit of the movie, which is that climate change is destroying the world. And you have to buy into it 100%. And I, it was, I don't know about you, but I get pretty excited when football season rolls around. That's why I always make a stop at total wine and more before kickoff, whether it's craft bourbon, cold beer, or ready to drink cocktails, it's easy to build a lineup that keeps everyone happy. And when I'm getting everything ready for game day, it's nice knowing I'm getting the lowest prices. Make total wine and more part of your game day tradition. Spirits are not sold in Virginia and North Carolina drink responsibly, be 21.

It was at that point where it's like, you know, I admire what's happening on the screen. I understand, believe me, I have one of my closest friends is one of these climate guys. And we argue about this all the time. And he can't believe that I'm not with him on this stuff. And I know he's going to love this movie. But this is how divisive it is. It's the, you know, for you to really enjoy the movie, you have to believe in this issue 100 percent.
Have dive in and say yes. This is where the earth is headed. And I'm just not there. You know, I've reviewed many environmental documentaries on this channel. You can go to the website and just look up all the environmental documentaries I've read. Yeah, there are problems. There are serious problems with the environment right now. But a lot of it is fixable. A lot of it has to do with corporate greed. A lot of it has to do with, you know, wanting to produce, for example, the land, wanting to produce one crop on this giant piece of land when you should be doing multiple stuff. Okay, I'll end there. And so my whole thing was by the end, I'm like, I mean, I liked what I saw, but my god, they really lean heavy into this. And I'll give digger credit. It's not one battle after another. You know, one battle and after another and other films like that, they hate you. They hate you for not agreeing with them. You know,
that's the whole point of these movies. But this one, it just believes in a cause so deeply. It just assumes that it's fact and that everyone agrees with them. But I don't, I don't feel like it hated me because of my opinion. It's just this is my opinion. I'm making a movie about it. And there you go. I, you know, makes no comment on people who don't agree with it. So, so I'll, I can't recommend the movie, but there's a lot to admire about the movie. Okay, well, so you're not recommending it. No. Okay, well, I dug it. Okay, I did not dig. Okay, that's okay. But a couple of things I'll say we'll end on this one. Do yourself a favor. I know we live in the spoiler rage and you can look it up. I'm sure on Reddit, as all the spoilers for the film, don't read them. Don't look it up. Don't find out what it is. Yeah. Go in cold. See the movie. You will have a different experience seeing the movie. If you
don't know what's going on. And if you do know what's going on, do not look up spoilers. Yeah, I know the first reveal has already been spoiled. I mean, quite frankly, I would like in this, the twist pretty close to six cents in terms of your enjoyment of the movie is dependent on not knowing what's going on. Right. So please, the two major sort of reveals in the film. Don't do not seek them out. Go see it cold. The second thing is my whole take on climate change is it's political discussion around it. I don't trust the experts because we went through something in 2020 where we had experts and you've kind of lost all credibility to me. My take on the climate is it doesn't care about you. It's arrogant a man to think that they can actually have an effect because there had been other whole other civilizations that existed before us. We're a blip on the
map. And at some point our current civilization will die out and the earth is going to keep going and doesn't care. It's not going to matter. But truly, because Alan and I obviously we see a lot of movies and like you hardly see any films that take the kind of risks that Digger does. And for that alone, I just and Alan, I would encourage you. I know you've only seen the movie once. If you see the second time, it's so much better. I understand. What's going on? Look, I will admit in terms of filmmaking and storytelling, it's great. It's above, it's above, above average. You know, Tom Cruise is swinging for the fences and the reveals kind of kind of, you know, kind of explain the over-the-top nature of the character. And so I get that. I get it. I mention the problem with woke is that
when you put woke in your movie, you have this idea that people want to go to movies to be preached to. And that's kind of how I feel about this. Well, I didn't feel as preached to as you did. I see this as no different than a black mirror or a Twilight Zone episode, where something there's a twist. And it's just part of it's, this is, and this is a science fiction movie at the end of the day. And science fiction movies deal with man's hubris and dealing with science and the world and what the cost of that might be. So it's really no different than Twilight Zone or Black Mirror in a way. Yeah. And I think one reason to bring it up is that it is this issue that will divide the audiences. Oh, the audience is divided on this movie. It's already, it's, you know, the Rotten Tomatoes score, everything. People are divided. But I almost feel like it should be required
to watch the movie twice to review it because the movie was not only changed when we saw it, it changed the second time I saw it because I already knew so I was looking for certain things. And there are all these details that like, oh, how can I not have seen it? You know, I didn't see it that way. But now knowing what what the reveals are, it's a completely different movie. So I recommend it. Alan? Yeah, I don't. Okay. But I'll ask one last question. Is it better than the Odyssey? Yes, it is. 100% better than the Odyssey. I would much rather watch this movie again than the Odyssey. Oh, that's great. See, two things to be true at the same time. You can, it could be a bad movie and still be better than the Odyssey. There you go. Let's go to the people. John Thomas for five. Chris, is it true? Kelsey Grammer refused Academy and Motion Pictures
despite two prominent actors recommending? I do not know. John, I do not know. I'm sorry, I don't know about this situation. All right. Kung Fu, hot dog for five. Chris, do you have old film threat videos from the 80s? If so, might we get a crowdfunding documentary in the future? What would happen back then? Yeah, would would would you be thinking about making a documentary about film threat? There has been a film. That's where this book project came from. We've had so many problems making this documentary. I have a hundred hours of VHS footage from like the 80s and 90s. Okay, five thousand photographs scanned. Yes, there's a documentary in the works. We decided, why don't we do the book first and then the documentary will be based on the book. So that is in the works already. You'd be surprised. Wow. Wait, five thousand of something. Yeah.
From Diego Salazar, was up my diggers. I know. Congratulations for funding the book. I have a weakness for coffee table books, but I also have to check out how the career system works for a country, this far south. Of course, I will pay proper dollars, not this devalued arse coin. Enjoy the rest of the week. Oh, thank you so much for five thousand of whatever that was. Thank you. I'm a doc possible for five, but Dr. Strangelove was very political and very divisive for a time. Way it portrayed the military in particular, check reviews of the time. Yeah. Yep, yep, it was. And I'm pretty sure it was divisive then as it is now. Bobcat Indy, Chris Gore is aligned with Grace Randolph on digger. I have not seen her review. Did you like it? I assume so. I liked it. The second viewing. I loved it.
Although, Lee Quay, I'm 50-50 after your respective reviews, but I'm more likely to watch it if it wasn't that big a budget. Yeah. Look, I tell you my opinion, you can go see it whether you like my opinion or not. Nick Gore for two, do they say the line, get the digger out of here? Get this digger out of here. Say it loudly. Get this digger out of here. I got him out of here. Thanks, Nick Gore. Releasing Bailey, Alan says it's a good film, but he won't recommend it. It's a good film. It's better than the Odyssey, but I won't recommend it. Alan, you're full, but I'll say this. I felt it was a completely different experience, the second viewing. The experience of it was like, oh, I've already sort of come to terms with what the twists are, and then on second viewing, you're like, holy crap, now that I know this, it's different.
Yeah, but it was like very different. But again, it's the conceited film. I just cannot buy into the conceited film. And when it arrives, you know from the very beginning, it's about a climate disaster. But when the truth about it arrives, it induces this giant eye roll of, yeah, of course. No, no, but then it's like, no, the movie intentionally loses the audience. No, no, I'm talking about the second, talking about the first twist, yes. But I was at least still there because it's like, you know, they want us, they want to lose the audience. And I'm like, there has to be a reason because these are not Green Lantern writers. But then the second one, it's like, oh, that's that's really clever, but my god, it's like, and then and that's like, and all right, it's like, it's like going to a family gathering.
And then your aunt Karen stands up and starts talking about the climate. And then it's like, oh, I can't, Karen, really? Chris, you walking. See these signs that Chris, you also said everyone should see coffee table. Yeah, Chris, you know why? Go see the, you know what the coffee table is? It's not the fucking McDonald's fast food movie. Shit, you've gotten used to. It does something different and radical. And you could love it and hate it. That's totally fine. But I am tired. We can talk AI Slop. There is Hollywood Slop. And most of what we're fed is Hollywood Slop. Coffee table is radical and different. Digger. Very different than coffee table, but it's a, it's it also tries something new. I like, I want something that moves the, the moves cinema forward. Not like here, you know,
