Friplam Fuddy lives on listener thanks to McDonald's and Rainhead order. The NRL finals are on triple M and we've got all the goss behind the scenes news on and off the field from press conferences to inside the locker rooms. On triple M this is NRL Daly finals edition. Welcome to triple M and NRL Daly here on your Wednesday of Grand Final week. We're getting closer and closer to one of the best grand finals I think is going to be of all time. I'm in the house who got Danny Wadler and Shane Flanagan how are you boys? That's the worst you can try to ever go from here. Normally I'm the great, am I real? Yeah. I feel I need pumping up my final week. Okay. One of the best journalists in the game. That's better. Danny Wadler and probably should win in coach of the Grand Final Sharks. A man who's getting more and more excited for his reunion by the day. Shane Flanagan. Well I don't know if I am to tell you the truth mate. I get a little bit worried though because going back in time that I've got to manage 30, 40 players and staff and everything with a bit of alcohol added.

You'll be right. Gals here. Yeah but he won't be drinking which is great. Yeah that's a big load off my mind. He can help. He's got the big fight. He can be security. He's got the big fight. Is it right that you and Wado have taken the lead on organising? This whole thing. Wado. Yeah no. Wado's done up to zero. Wado's just organising himself. He's told his wife that he'll see it back on Sunday and the two boys on Sunday. He'll be front and centre waiting and going to you. And what about Saturday's show? He's pulled out of that mate. He just texted me yesterday so I can't do that. He asked Flanagan he said no as well. I know. Well I would do it but could you imagine the chat that I would get back from Wado saying that listen. That's a grand final reunion and you've taken my shift just for the cash. It would be pretty disgraceful. Yeah so I'll need you to find someone. We'll find someone daddy don't worry about that. You'll also have Nathan high much with your Tony Squires and we're thinking of maybe a grand final legend of some sort but anyway. Stay tuned for that.

We're going to go off the top here with the grand final entertainment. Yeah you've just broken what if I put it out there that. Yeah it's going to be a lap of honor for Jai Arrow. I think there'll be Aussie bands playing you'll never walk alone. I think that there'll be the whole crowd will be doing the arrow. Yeah as he's coming past and imagine probably in a car or something like that. And there's also going to be a light show around it. It'll happen at about five past seven just before the grand final. And look I put it on Twitter Charlie. I said it's a good idea but nobody seems to be agreeing with it. I just had a quick look of mine feed and I'm getting amoured for suggesting it's a good idea. Right and I don't know why people are off the idea.

I think everything we can do to for Jai is great. And I think that the stadium of what will be 80,000 or so cheering him on. I don't see it as bad but a lot of a lot of members of the public do so. Well it's not just Jai, it's MND, you know, raising awareness for it. And he's done a great job in that. And that's Jai talks about raising awareness. Yeah. Let's just wait and see. I reckon you know. On the night. Now I reckon you when you talk about Aussie bands as he's going around. Let's see what that looks like as well. We're there to watch the 40 but obviously that but before is hopefully it's really special like the other two events were. Yeah. Yeah. You're quiet on it. Yeah. I mean I haven't spoken to Jai about it. Yeah. Unless I had an opinion, I'd want to speak to Jai about it before I had an opinion. Okay. Yeah. Because I mean he might be really excited for the art for it. So I'm not going to say anything on that. I've read in the comments a lot of them are pretty hampered against the idea Danny.

Yeah. I guess the their perspective is a very positive place. Is that like that or X or X or X is a very positive place where there aren't any sewer rats living in there. No. At least a lot of people who are having an opinion do have at least got their pictures on it and their faces and stuff. Yes. I just don't like those accounts with a gray dot. Yeah. It's just could be anybody saying anything they want. Yeah. I mean it really could be anyone saying anything. Yeah. It could be a fake picture fake name. Yeah. Who knows. But they're not happy about it obviously on your post. Yeah. I guess maybe the thought for that is we kind of do the we'll never walk alone thing already which was amazing. Like that the scenes in the goal coach if you won't cry and watch that you're not a human brand. And then again that alliance. Yeah. It was incredible. I guess maybe, maybe but I guess it's a chance for everyone to say what they really feel and show their love and support. I don't think we can give enough love to Jiro. And I'm all for that.

I'm all for giving you as much support and his family as much support as humanly possible. Yeah. Well said. Well said. We're talking about the grad final then boys because this is going to be an absolute ball. Our boys. It is going to be incredible. Let's start with the coach Justin Holbrook who's obviously going to win coach the year tonight at the Daliams we expect going up against the former and we'll do. Well who else would win it Danny? Well I might he's my coach at the year but depends. When they cut it off like they cut it up to around 27. Yeah. So at round 27 getting the ninth from last to seventh was it? Yeah. Is that coach of the year material? I think it is. Well it's an interesting one. I think it is. I think he's done enough and you know obviously you know through the semi final series he just puts that the icing on top but you're right that just sort of makes you question who else could possibly get it? I flipped. I originally thought I wanted to give it to Ivan I think I said. I thought you know he's just so good.

But when Holbrook's you know when the more that Holbrook's done I thought well I've got it wrong it should be Holbrook. So I'd be interested to see tonight who actually gets it but he's without question deserving of it. Even if he doesn't get it he would know in his heart and he would know everybody around in the term well what you've done is it's the coaching performance of the year. Without a doubt. You know he's to come from last to get into the semi finals was a great achievement and then you know we know the semi finals are not including in the Delian voting but what he's done over the last couple of weeks is just been outstanding and you know I think you'll get it just on the back of the round you know zero to twenty to round twenty seven. These players you know love playing for him he's brought on some young players he's had a lot of injuries and they continue to win the next man up mentality. He's changed that club. And I said him and Peter O'Sullivan have just done an amazing job in twelve months to get some of those players that we've never heard of at the start of the year never heard

of him Danny you know and to lose you know they've got three million dollars sitting on the sideline this weekend they're two starting front rowers they're marquee half signing or sitting there watching it and they're hooker. They've got it's a hell like the rooster's going in with the full squad pretty much and they're going in with you could say the heart ripped out of them like if you're losing your first choice half back and your first choice hooker that's a lot and then the front yeah it's a major first choice half hooker and now the young back by coming in I is probably the biggest loss especially in the last week or two because cross line has done an outstanding job and can play big minutes you can go play at thirteen when it comes on and so who's number two but then we start to look at who's number three of their hookers because Kenny play 80 so truly interesting that scenario you lose you know cross line who can play big minutes can play any minutes if he has to we like Reese Robson isn't he can do that too and

you know it's a big loss a real big loss. Yeah he actually lived in Cronulla when he was coaching at the rooster's race to run into him a fair bit and he's got a real calm nature and obviously he's been at the rooster's for a long period of time when I did you have a coach him I remember I remember him as a player he was it he was a boom like he had a really big boom I don't think I did coach him no I would have known if I coached him but he was as he was considered to be like a gun schoolboy from memory. Yeah he was up around the Joey and Matty Matty year up in Newcastle coming through then they said he was going to be really good but he sort of never was that outstanding player everybody said he was going to be but he's had a big wrap as a coach for a long time unless unless you're the goal coach Titans. Yeah to be fair he took the goal coach Titans to the finals. Oh it's just one of it's one of the typically dumb decisions a goal coach to make and that's why the goal coach is still where they are. Yeah like they they are a club that can make some really poor decisions and that's up there with one of their best isn't it? Absolutely.

Yeah it's I mean there one pass away from beating the roosters as well. Yeah I can't remember who was Patrick Herbert I think just ended past the ball and they would have made week to a finals which is better than anything they've done in a long long time. Better than anything they've done for a long time and anything they might do as well in the immediate future as well so you know like yeah don't get me started about the goal coach but yeah he's had a reputation as a good coach and what was it like when you used to coach? Yeah he's done his time as I said he's been a sissing coach at the roosters you know I didn't work out for him at the goal coach but he's proven you know even in just one year that he's a good coach and as I said the main thing that comes you know looking at him and the way he talks to his players is his temperament and he's calm he's cool he's collected and I think the players it can relate to the you know modern day player so it's really important and I think you know that's he's got a happy dressing room and that's so hard to continue. He's a funny guy. Yeah tell me he's a funny guy. Dry sense of humor. Dry sense of humor and also he doesn't take things too seriously but he holds people to account still but he doesn't

he's not maybe like a lot of you know the coaches who got steam coming out there is all the time so he that seems to work for him. So easy when you're in the semi-final. It's easy when you're playing a great final. I forgot the steam music. Do you vote on these awards? No no okay all right well let's move on. San is me. Good as gold. San is me with DCE going up against each other. Yeah I mean if we at the start of the year if we said you know San is me it's would be the starting half-pack of a team in the grand final we would have all said I was high on drugs. Again again San does an interesting one isn't he he he really came of age I think I was you were coaching modern coaching against him on an insect day was that yeah he had a brilliant game remember that he just he blitzed the drag sorry to bring it up yeah he blitzed the drag and he was in the metal yeah yeah yeah he was that's when he really came to notice and you know he's been he was a good player for the roosters but it's like in reality once DCE came there wasn't a path for him right

once they made that decision and yeah the Eric can be part of him acknowledging that and in the back of his mind saying well I'll show you yeah yeah he showed plenty the other day didn't he like yeah I think the roosters decision was based around moving forward I San Smith and Walker gonna take us to where we want to go two young halves and I think you know their decision to go on signed DCE was based very similar around that the two good players really good players obviously Walker they raid highly and we all do and then you know San and was a little bit of the unknown he they rated him but he sort of hadn't done it consistently and the rooster they want to win comps and whether they thought that those two could take him to a grand final I'm not sure you can understand what yeah yeah if you've got the opportunity of getting daily cherry Evans for a year you're gonna do it you're gonna do it but a lot of people bagged the cherry Evans decision and actually I interviewed James at ESCO this week and he brought that up he said well it's got it's worked out okay hasn't it like to get us to this point but remember what

everybody was saying so he's very defensive and very close to daily cherry Evans and he's you know he obviously it's stuck with him for a long time what people were saying about you know the signing of cherry and the way that all happened and look if he can take him to a premiership I think it's already been a success yeah of course but it's a huge book ending of his career if he can do it yeah a company's first wins a comp with mailing his first year in the NRL and then wins one in his last year in the NRL before he goes to the UK I would have had him for another year I would have I would have if I was a rooster I'd if he was available I would have said yep I'd I'd like another year out of here I know here goes great there is a salary kept any even with the roosters you're going yeah you're going you know this move for DCE to come to the the roosters it wouldn't have happened none of the new rules spaying yourself because Hudson Young offered 900 oh yeah he'd out to off from 1.1 DCE rules well I mean they better be rules because you just stop to play

from going to pop a new Guinea and then also DCE is there on 300 grand a year is it that low that's like that's how low it is 300 thousand dollars well I find that hard to believe Charlie you know we have some third parties in that in that but exactly well as if the outer elbow because mainly that manly would have offered more than 100,000 well they well remember on TV TV Tony Mestrov with his offer yeah when he hadn't when he stuffed it up then he came out on TV and made the offer of what was it 750 whatever I kind of know what it was now but yeah that was that was a how not to treat a star player at your club and if the roosters picked him up for 300 that is a huge bargain that's absolutely bargain that's well I would have had him there at 300 next year as well 100 yeah I mean the average income for an annual plows I have 400 I think these two so you know he's well below average and get someone of DCE's quality just go back on send and Smith he goes to Newcastle he goes there as number three as well he's not in there first two hours yeah so he's

gone up there knowing that and at the start of the year he was on the bench he was number 14 for a lot of the time and he goes up there you know Brown goes down injured and he sees his opportunity and you talk about take your opportunity he's taking it incredible he'll be very very hard Brown's going to come back into the side next year after his ACL but now you've got San Smith and Brown you know someone's going to miss out there so it's a good problem to have for Newcastle but he's gone from being the third half to being you know the number one half if DCE wins what does it do for his legacy where does he rank in all the time halfbacks is he become a top 10 halfback of the NRL era Charlie's been so good for so long like he's he's Australia Queensland manly Bruce like I don't think I can most 10 hour all games I don't think he's got anything to prove I don't I don't think I know some people saying this defines him but doesn't define him okay this I actually think that he's done enough to be one of the proper greats of

the game like was it 370 games what have you like it's incredible and you know he's done it tough for a lot of that time he wasn't popular at manly when he started I remember doing stories on him where his teammates were right off him and I had a really prickly relationship with him at that time because I was getting good information from the people who really didn't like him and I didn't know Cherry I've got to know him over the years he had a he had a big wall around him for a long time he had a real wall around him and you couldn't get near him you couldn't get to know the person when you get to know the person that daily cherry Evans is I I feel regret in the way that I reported some of those stories because he's actually a good guy he's actually a good human being he's a great family man I'd I'd want to know him outside of football you know he's a really decent human being and the way did he do everything right as a young player no no he didn't

and do a people still angry with him I'd say so I still I still say there were people who don't love him that manly from that plane group but I think he's done enough to earn the respect of everybody in rugby league yeah well you look at it now I don't know a lot of manly fans will be you know still off him I know the playing group aren't really because you were there during that yeah because rugby league you know especially over the last four or five years you know players perspective it's become a business you know it's not you know manly's my club was born up I come up from the juniors you have the time and the jokes and the bench avoidances that sometimes happen but we see I saw Charlie last night tipping that Tom's going to PNG no we had Tom on and we asked Jake to roovert so we had Tom to roovert on the show yes on the drive she said we do and drive this week NRL football and NRL's taken over are you on that too flannel not yet no yeah no we've got a call maybe later in the week who knows but we we had Tom to

roovert on and we played you know you had perfect partners on the footage yeah we are part of a question and they actually see see how connected they are well we did it with Jake to roovert's Tom to roovert and we hear that can you send me the audio the question was asked by Jake oh which team is with Tom most likely sign for if it wasn't manly and he said pop a new kidney so have you sent that to Michael Chambers I haven't sent him Michael Chambers well Tom is very very money conscious I wouldn't say oh he likes his money he knows exactly where it is and he's pretty smart sorry very very smart and yeah Jake he hit it and they'll write on the head he said either the roosters or PNG so there you go away with it did you well Tom said the roosters all the nights because they're playing the grand final he'd love to be playing in the game that was a pretty good answer yes how do Tom take the answer PNG well he didn't deny that he likes his money he didn't deny it and then I said you're an November one guy aren't you know say you could potentially do it and you and Tom will go long in common actually you're you're very you're different money me Tom flana yourself

as well yeah you're number one on the fullback who is playing for the new castle nights this weekend Kalem Ponga he's been an incredible season for him incredible finals run does this just make him one of the I mean he already is but does this make him just even more of a superstar in the NRL if they win well he's doing what everybody has been waiting for him to do on a consistent basis and that's not having a slap at him for years we've wanted to see Kalem the Kalem we're seeing now and we've seen it in parts we haven't seen it for a season I don't think and the what what we're seeing from him now is attribute to the way he's got his head around everything I did an interview with him recently and he he said the biggest change and the number one reason he has switched on this year was Dylan Brown when Newcastle signed Dylan Brown he said okay we've got a serious club and that made him think I want to be part of this so that 14 million bucks they spent on Dylan Brown has

unlocked the seven or eight they've invested in in in Kalem and he now that that made him realize well we can do something and he was totally invested and you you you saw that in Vegas I mean I don't you get the chance probably you can probably get the chances you know I watch bits and pieces and seeing it afterwards afterwards the emotion you know you saw the the the buy in and yeah that's that defined his season that moment said this is what he's about and he's doing it brilliantly and you know even in Vegas dealing with him because I don't have to deal with Kalem that much because he's in Newcastle but nothing was too much trouble you know like he was where is in the past it would have been you know whatever I got because I don't know him as well as others maybe you know I wouldn't have got the same ability to get to him but nothing was too much trouble he was invested in the club and this week I've seen him I've seen him everywhere like he's been doing everything he's going to be doing it again at the fan day tomorrow he probably at the Daily M tonight I don't imagine I don't

and you're going to be there I'm not sure Danny yeah but he's here he's been incredible yeah he was the happiest man at the NRL launch as well dream we went to down on the water there for the NRL launch I'm sure you would have been there Danny where they have all the players yes he was the happiest man there I don't know you know I would have been there wouldn't know who cares it's a long time but he was the happiest man there oh yeah he was I was yeah yeah yeah how happy was he he was going around cracking jokes everybody on and up and about it's a change that like he's he's he's he's he's in break he's comfortable with himself I think it's a lot of those things you spoke about Danny and you know some of the things that I've seen in Kahn I reckon he's been doing it similar what he's been doing you know that's especially the last month for many years close close to right but what has changed is he's matured yeah he's matured he's got a coach that they believe in each other um yes you write what he said about now we've got a serious football team when they bought Dylan Brown but we've already seen you know saying it's Smith when Dylan Brown goes out Sanus Smith comes in but the biggest thing I feel that has brought the best out of

Kahn consistently is he knows he's got a football team there now from one to 17 they're a class football team and they can score points and that gives him confidence and it's not it's not all about like you have a look they shift the ball over to the left hand side and best makes a break um it's not just Kahn Kahn Kahn because when we played Newcastle for a couple of years there you nullify Kahn you nullify the Newcastle nights now that's not the case so that's made even him more dangerous because you got so many different strings to their bow and you're watching a lot of different people rather than just focusing on Kahn that's made him a better fully player well again the way that um the coach has got plays to improve yeah it's amazing isn't it like he's improved Kahn hmm like I don't know whether Kahn's improved but he's got older he's got mature improved on young how much of that energy is coming from whole Brook because Adam Bryan let's be honest really flat guy personality wise like he's seen in his press conferences you don't get excited I've made I'm on good terms with Adam Bryan again I don't couldn't care

less if you're on good terms I'm not couldn't I don't do my story you know coming back to the next one the plane he was forced to see next to me that's right he's a dog's man now so you got to pump up everything Gus he was he was he was forced to see next I was like yeah he was coming out of all the people he was watching coming down the aisle he's looking waddles down there and the I don't want to sit in that it's like you're sitting on you're sitting in your seat and you see Danny Waddle of walk and you're going to go to spare seat next to you get that call no a good friend of mine dole brome and used to get on the plane last and he said he used to threaten everyone on the plane because they sorry I'm walking down the aisle and they'll go like for a police please don't put him next to me but they liked Darrell can they but you me poor brine up to see next year for 14 hours different situation you had no room with Darrell but with you just get you read bitten off from it a couple of hours we didn't we had we didn't have a very rosy relationship before that flight and after we'll we'll find we're good and um but I he admitted to me later I got I don't want to have to see next year yeah yeah but yes yeah

I feel yeah look at he was he's a flag guy though isn't he like he he didn't know what he's like behind the scenes I can tell you was a pretty flag guy okay yeah he's a grumpy guy you know like that's what you see that's who he is what you see that's who he is and I get interested in what you talk about and like I watch Justin Holbrook and I look at him and go you know maybe I got to have a little bit of that in me and but you know you look at you know Trent Robinson and all that it's no use trying to be Holbrook you know you've got to be yourself and you know just to go back there with the two coaches there at the moment you know Justin's got that in him that's natural for him to be that happy bubbly type of personality and it's working yeah absolutely hey Sam Walker if they win the grand final what does it do for his price tag at the roosters because that's been put on hold for now is he going to be getting 1.6 Danny what do you think Sam Walker is going to struggle financially yeah we I told you a little while ago it was 1.4 was what where the roosters are at 1.7 where the management was at and they'll they'll come to it and oh I'd

imagine I'll come to a gram of somewhere in there and Sam Walker through not just through his playing but through his toughness is showing his worth it because to come back from that injury the way he has is just remarkable and he's putting his body on the line for his club you know it's never been what we the when you think of Sam Walker you don't think of that you think about his magical qualities you think about you know his skill with the ball all of that you don't think about resilience and toughness but I think that getting the way he's got back and the way he's got back early says a lot about his professionalism and his toughness and I think that the roosters probably know now with the with what he did in origin with what he did in a final um he's done enough to prove to them that he's worth pretty close to what he wants you know I think yeah I'm not quite sure of the dollar but I suppose it'll all depend on what Nathan gets for me like sit back and see what Nathan gets and then you know go for a little bit under but

what when you talk about Walker I think that origin period I changed my opinion of him in that first origin what was your opinion before I didn't think he was definitely an origin type player defensively but in that first origin he put his shoulder in there he was outstanding defensively I walked away from there going um you know he's a tough kid um and he can put his head in places at your your shooting and that origin that first origin he defended really really well and then we know about all the other flashy stuff um but it convinced me that he's got something um and then you know what he's done the to come back from the injury you know we can also say how tough you are you know maybe medicine medicine and science is all a lot better now but um he's going to be around for a long long time um and he's an elite player and good luck to him whatever he gets but you know I obviously I still think Nathan if he gets if he's getting 1.6 it should be a little bit short of that Nathan Cleary just mentioned him yeah if he does get that 1.6 1.7 yeah

because did you break this day yeah so I was told that um because Penra if I try to sort out everything well you know it's it kept wise um they they went to Nathan recently and said listen we just want to know we're not asking you to sign a contract but we want to know ballpark what it would take for you to be happy to be at our club and Nathan's on a greedy guy um and from what I'm told and no one's confirming it but from what I'm told the figure was around 1.7 um and that's reasonable you can still have a team around that you can still 1.7 in a 15 million dollar salary cap is probably about 1.4 now yeah so because it goes up so much in that year and 28 I think it's reasonable to yeah we're talking about the best player in the game yeah well you just talked about Dylan Brown yeah here's E1 4 he's 13 13 without a ratchet yeah that could end up being one of the best deals which we have at a time in 10 years time for the

catch 20 it can only go to 1.4 isn't it yeah well you know when if the the cap's going up to if it does go up to 15 million you know that's you know somewhere in between 15 and 20% increase so he's on the money yeah I think well if you get 1.7 that's good for Nathan or yeah it's probably light for Nathan you can get more elsewhere but it's it's reflective of the character and the character we've seen him show all this week that figure is fair it's not greedy um he could he could ask for a lot more um and then but he hasn't signed a deal for that and he'll do there'll be a lot of um uh fine print there'll be a lot of uh how many years would that be for Danny I don't have the years I don't have the years but you know if they can get him for that that's good and even with the injury yeah that's I still think you you invest and you don't you don't even think about it I've had the same injury as Nathan I'm not comparing myself to Nathan Cleary um similar moment as well he was he was getting close to the line in a big game you know how I broke my legs

have you told that story how I have you have you have on the saddest crime anyway tell us what you tell us again anyway oh broke both my legs playing golf yeah playing golf what are the buggy run out of you made him want to flip the buggy on me we got thrown out of side oh my I got thrown it and it just I just remember it being in the air and just crunching into my right ankle broke both sides came off backwards compound yeah oh yeah and then my left leg broke the tibia fibria and metatarsal so I had bones coming out my pants on one leg and my ankle was a back was over oh my god he's still friends with his plums yeah yeah yeah it was it was an accident was an accident um and um yeah but it's the blanket stuff like I you still walk a bit well that's what I say I can't I wake up every day I can't walk and I like for a long time I managed it but it's just getting worse and worse um for Nathan he obviously he's a he's a high a lead athlete I'm just a bum and he you know it's painful what he's going to go through is painful well it's not just um you know you have a look back obviously there's a yow you injury very

similar but he had an effect in infection yeah afterwards Cameron Sareldo did similar when I was coaching assistant coach with Ricky at the sharks Cameron Sareldo had a compound fracture over the lowly very vicious and back did he come back from it all not really not really he did come back but not as probably as good as he was previous but obviously you know we're 15 20 years down the track in my 40s yeah like my like with my ankle they had to like it was basically I had to make it straight because they said you could lose your foot which is what you know happened with with Nathan obviously that there's been that that conversation as well because there's no blood getting to it and all that sort of stuff was game black and it was just like I was horrendous and you know what happened I when it happened to Nathan I felt sick watching I felt I felt I felt the poor bastard that you are going to get that's awfully painful and watching them hold his ankle I knew yeah what was going on it's a day on never forget Charlie yeah you I was there with you

to call the game and we get there and you know just a pretty much a normal game and then we see Nathan before the game out there walking around just kicking the ball to himself left footed left footed so we presume he's playing and then panorath come out to warm up and Nathan's not there he's still in the dressing room but he's and then he's named on the bench or vice versa he was named on the bench and then so we're all questioning when does he get on does he get on how are they going to use him so was it was just a strange day and it was raining I'll never forget it was just this real strange feeling and then all of a sudden the 20 minute mark here comes Nathan trotting down the sideline that was a big moment and he goes on and he just two or three times that he touched a football he nearly broke through yeah he was sharp talk about courage like I wrote in my column on that Sunday morning that it was a Cooper Cronk I because I was hearing stuff about it but I couldn't nail it down fully and I was told the panorath vault yeah if you just say if you say it's going to be it's a Cooper Cronk style effort I mean what Cooper did was amazing but he Nathan would have to

play with a broken foot for two games which is just ridiculous right that's ridiculous I can't get over the idea of that let alone him doing it or trying to do it so what he was going to put himself through again we talked about Sam Walker's guts wow that's yeah next it's just incredible these guys what they do you've seen it closely but I it blows me away absolutely yeah some some plays you know the Cooper Cronk issue you know the Walker one you know it's a similar and then obviously Nathan to get put himself in that position to play and go out there and play with already a broken foot they're just made of different stuff yeah I look at some of the players that I've coached I've played with broken bones in their hands away Graham Gowell and all them they're just made up of different stuff and go out there and do it and you know they handle pain rather than worrying about other things they just worry about their football team and Nathan's

a classic example of that that he could have put put the white flag up and not play and I've got a broken foot and no one would have questioned it no one would have questioned it but he just puts himself through that puts himself in a position to play yeah and the class I don't know how to say we got the cross the thing on the run down here but the class we do yeah the class he showed as well Nathan on the cross the situation or I think it's very yeah I don't know Phoenix Crossland at all like a great human being apparently like the way the tackle it was an accident had I think I think everything has happened correctly I think accident send off you know like I think that's fair four weeks fair but the way that Crossland has handled himself in the face of shitheads on Twitter wherever else Instagram wherever else he's getting trolled the fact that the way that Nathan has handled it as well by actually sticking up for him it's just it's actually really been classy the whole both the characters of both those two guys has shone through a really tricky

and really emotional situation it's been great to see I really think Danny that Charlie that we're you're gonna have to see a change in the way our tackle tech is because it has changed over period of time it's playing it to me well you go through and I'm not playing Melbourne for the wrestle but there was a real wrestle component at the point and yeah we got into you know three man tackles and the third man and was pinning the legs and then all of a sudden we had to tackle above the knee from the side and we all had to change and we had to practice that for a long think because you know there was people coming in cannonballing into people's knees and so on now this this tackle is a worry for all 40 players and sometimes it's unavoidable but I think more practice and technique and I'm not sure how we do it just yet I'd have to look at him slow a lot of them down talk to a few people about how we eliminate or minimize the opportunity or the the chance of this happening again because we've seen too many players get injured you know Nathan

to classic example this just gets put up on the top shelf how do we stop this is it a tackle that's born out of the six again or the the speed of the game or so to me like what is it yeah people say that that is born out of fatigue and you know what I wouldn't have said that on Nathan's tackle the you know there's obviously a certain amount of fatigue in Phoenix but you know it's in the first half Phoenix can play long minutes he's played that's a game back at the back end of the year did they have sets back back to back sets and he had to defend him I just think it's the athlete you know I talked to Charlie about some of the athletes that we see that actually have hip drops more often because they're strong and they're powerful and they get their nose through the line and they end up the defender ends up in that position because we are stronger we are faster we have better footwork and we get our nose through the line but we just need to have a look at it as I said I don't know the answer just yet but I think it will be looked at and a technique and practice about not putting yourself in that position to fall on the play scene is definitely

something that clubs are going to work on in the off season yeah I'd love to see cross some play this ground finally to show that he's got a four game suspension rat for me rather these tackle was just as bad if it not worse like it's well I don't I don't really get the whole injuries you know injuries happen I didn't used to get that either Charlie but again I've had to change away I think about a lot of things in in rugby league like I just think why do you have to change the way we'll be we'll be see your guns well no but it's your intuition well every like if you don't adapt you get left behind right adapt or die I know I'm a dinosaur you know I have to slowly walk out of my tarp hit or try to get and adapt with the modern game because I would I'm like you I didn't think the whole eye for an eye thing was a but it is now if we're going to do sayings adapt or die an eye for an eye only says the whole world blind okay there you go you went there from Jimmy Graham that's a good you think the guy really a Jimmy Graham and Garley same same same they're both of guardian miles I understand where you'll come from Charlie

but I've been on the other side where that plays injured from hip drops and yeah you see players get one or two weeks and I've got plays are out for the year or out for six or seven weeks it doesn't sit well um and then you know we've had similar you know we had one of the catchments at the start of the year you know put someone out for a you did a hip drop and um one of the paraboyes and you did his ACL it's not nice um so you know I think they the game and all the clubs are fully aware of it and yeah they don't want to see it happen either you know they don't want their best players injured and they don't want their best players sitting on the sideline because of suspension so it's got to be addressed all right quick break boys up next plenty more to discuss Ashley Clives being dropped and there's so much more to get to beer right back Ashley Klein boys dropped from the grandfile I mean is he dropped from the grandfile he was already sort of dropped from the preliminal but he won't be in the bunker because Charlie how did he end up in the bunker yeah can you tell me why I can't take is if you listen to the show last week I said I guarantee you will make a mistake because mentally he's not in the right place to be

there you predicted it yeah and I he didn't have a great bunker performance in my shock in my eyes um and I asked why he was put in the bunker after he was dropped right the explanation none of it on the record but yeah the nudge nudge wing wing because previously when he'd been dropped from a game or you know he'd been put in the bunker and did a great job that's the explainer I went okay that's that's that's it's a way to base it on I think the emotional stress of everything he went through sit him down for a week 100% yeah let him just have yeah watch it like home on TV go for go walk your dog in the park look him a spa day yeah spa day yeah go for a sauna yeah ice bar therapy session words of affirmation in the mirror all of that and he's had a pretty I like he's had a big year too like in the headlines and but now where is he with just a state cup yeah state cup state cup bunker is that right carries in the bunker yeah Joel's giving a thumbs up about there yeah well that that's a

that's a place you don't want to be interesting with um didn't even know they had a bunker for the state cup you should be there in some way that like do you think referees are better suited for the bunker like also individuals are suited better for the bunker like actually climb might I think he's a good referee let me start with it but yeah but is it no no I hopefully just suck up to actually climb up for three weeks you must you must think he might have been the thing you might have been our referee in 16 oh my god you might have been um but I think you know just because actually Klein is a referee or was the number one referee he's the best person in the bunker well I don't think that that's the same thing you know I just because you can move around the park and make good decisions get the 10 meters right make good decisions on high tackles does that make you make good decisions in the bunker I think it's as we're getting we're getting apples and oranges and micked up here you get a bunker special 100 percent Chris Butler seems to be the Butler the Butler is the bunker man well Danny you talk about your ankles you might

be able to run around I know I can't you know you can't but you could be good in the bunker I think I would be more I don't think it would be either that's a stupid question stupid yes but yeah I think some people are good at certain things I would have had us I'll be promised with your TV on I asked Charlie this it's he and the bunker on his own because some of the decisions lately I I'd love to be in there with him and go what are you looking at mate he's put on the sideline just stop it's all over no try but they come out and they watch another angle and they watch another and they confuse themselves no go back to the first thing we saw his foot doesn't matter what angle you see it he's put on the sideline no try it's such a big part of our game now isn't it like it is who's in there with them I don't have it the whole the whole bunker and the it's a big part like I want to play a footy with my little guy like he stops the game and he starts doing to this or this and you go let's send it to the bunker like like it's just weird it's part of our lives people say blow it up well it's not it's not going to get blown up. Also we don't want to

blow it up really because like you don't want the howl is like I want to tell the angle people so still getting howl if we didn't have the bunker that dom young troll would have been taken away because it went up no try and it was the most obvious try ever like and then the and then I was so nervous watching the replay that because Butler took an eternity to a war that a trial I was thinking this is how it was stressed it was stressed to me it's like because he's saying what is the referee seen on on field to go no try yeah they think they need to enable the referee's decision you don't if anything save them from them assakes and the conversations are referee sometimes have with the bunker they're saying don't you get the don't you don't you correct me it don't you correct me you can there's a tone isn't there or like it's you can feel the time I think the bunker should be like faceless men or women who the who the referee doesn't know who's there because they're faceless men or women I like if Chris Butler walked in today I couldn't tell you if it was him or he's still tall felt the tall referee well you're up might have a little job yeah it's a bit like Chris Butler actually a similar person

well probably is a good like good like good like good like jelsie great guy anyway so yeah it does everybody's hitting yes yes welcome to stay cup Adam G though has got it shout out to Adam G I think the last ground final he probably have was no 24 23 or 24 yeah 24 would have been pen worth the the storm I'm glad it's sunny it was 23 pen wrist broncos wasn't it yeah see it was 23 yeah 23 yeah yeah that's what I was good game yeah I'm glad it's sunny um because he'll be down south canada and his budget smugglers with the oil on getting ready for the ground final who'll be doing that mr. G is that what he does loves it ask a remodels can you get a photo for I'd like to be able to the G string the G string yeah I want a photo yeah and no good on him um you know as I said yeah you got to have some luck sometimes and you just want to get through games especially the big games come semi-final and he's got through them you know I just tap you can walk away the biggest thing for Adam and I know him reasonably well um he was actually a school teacher

Carl school teacher at a co-owness college back in the day um was he strict teacher what was you like no I'm not quite sure probably he was a time he wasn't probably he wasn't a principal principal principal he wasn't too strict with um Kyle Blake Braily and Bronton Cherry used to look at 40 boys get away with it but I just hope for his sake because you know he once again he's got parents he's got family and they caught a bit of grief yeah I know for a fact they caught a group bit of grisa a lot I'd imagine I just hope he gets through it with a clean sheet what do you think of the first was it first 20 uh roosters dolphins we're just it just flow didn't it just happen there was not there was nothing no interruption was it I I enjoyed it these big games there's always some big decisions to be made it's not just gonna flow you might get a 20 minute period that does flow and there's no crucial six um decisions to be made but at some point in semi finals grand finals there's gonna be some big moments real big

moments well look at origin this year honor yeah so yeah there will be yeah exactly hey uh really I want to ask you about this funno the secret training session Jerome Lois has now arrived at Paramata and they said screw the annual leave that the R.O.P.A. forces seventies there you know I think it was with a couple of the Simone boys and their Mitchell Moses was there as well what do you make of of that yeah well with the um the annual leave bit I know the R.O.P.A. want the players to have their arm their leave but there's a world cup coming up so they've got to continue to tick themselves over you know continue to train um you know for lure to go and train you know whether it was a paramata session or there was just some paramata players there um I haven't really got a problem with it um you know he's going there next year the only thing that we always talk about is he's contracted to the Tigers till november one you know when there's insurance and all that's all the time yeah but the Tigers would not care they're not care one big they are happy the Jerome's out of the yeah I just think it's where it's sort of you know making a mountain out of a

mile hill you know good luck to him he's trying that's an interesting leak isn't it like it's it's been told for a reason to show that Jerome's not not there what we call it the halfway house of Harves yeah he did this he did this I don't know if it's Lua leaking it but Lua's team leaked the same thing when he I think this is our same story came out when he saw him at the Tigers he was there early getting involved so it's obviously a Lua he asked yeah and you know it's fine it's it's a good yarn yeah it's good for us to talk about uh is it going to make any difference in March no probably not well he won't he won't actually officially start training with paramata next January February you know by the time the world cups over and then he does have a three or four week break you know he's going to come back you know a couple of weeks before trial so it's going to be a tricky one for paramata you know I know they played Origin together him and Moses but just connections with other players in the team it's going to be a tricky one what do you think about signing a half a year I guess a coach would you want to do it if he's an elite one which you

know I'd have to put Jerome I don't think he had a great last year but previous to that I'd say he's a lead half he's played Origin and all that so if you get an elite half come to your club whether it's for one year and you know that and you've got a plan around it who's next or what's coming up but you just can't have players coming in one year especially we'll have had two now obviously the other boys gone to Broncos hasn't he yeah he's a peasant's gone there that didn't work and now Lua it comes in surely there should be some young kids at Para young harbors at Para and nearly ready to go by the twenthure well he jumped out of the box didn't he he was incredible yeah is also Lorenzo talentina yeah he says name as well he's meant to be a good half coming through we say he should learn he should learn off Jerome and you know he should be ready to go in twenty eight interesting that um rolls he too they're looking to extend him what are you shaking your head it's ridiculous he's got two you just going as deal well there's a reason for it I think they're worried about the Melbourne factor I think that you know Melbourne probably we'll be looking for a coach

soon rather later yeah and and Billy's given every indication he's not that interested so Jason Brails isn't he's got the Melbourne DNA so they probably see him as a potential coach that's probably why Para doing it oh I don't think Para have been bad you do you say that the furthest away average that you're you're you're you're you reckon the furthest away from a combat of any team was that your statement yeah I've manly never winning a comp according to you yeah while Scott pensi owner oh you know that there was always there was always the Scott pen Astrid as soon as he said I don't mind the Scott pen Astrid it's a fair Astrid yeah I don't mind that uh mate they're miles away from Para Marna yeah but I you've seen them look better they had a shocking rate of injuries I don't think they're they're roster is where it should be yeah but I I think I've seen good things in rolls coaching um I don't know you understand they're the mef we know oh I don't know if that's the case Danny um you put around a wall enough I think yeah I think his sides have been competitive um had a lot of injuries you share I want to take the other

side of it if Jason gets a new contract good luck to him um that's a decision the clubs made I just want a question whether he is the Melbourne in Melbourne sites I feel that Melbourne have got someone already in their sites and probably not Billy well Depp Billy would definitely be one but I think he'd be number one but there could be some ones there or you know the Eric in the system at the moment coaching there at the moment that they feel over the next 12 months could step up that's just one thing that's been there's been a common thought that they could get it from within also if Melbourne is a genuine option for Jason Riles as if Jason Riles signing an extension like in all honesty yeah why would he say Para matter what he could go to what I par are doing because it well why par are doing well he's going to have to do it he's going to have to sparking them while there's no CEO in to push through an extension why do you think it's you think it's West Tigers areas of course it is like when Ben G. Hey he's got a 40% win record he's got two years left in his deal if I was at Para matter I'd say you can go sit back down and coach will come to you when we're ready to give you an extension. It's time to come to us for two years looking for a CEO

exactly so you can see CEO sorted maybe you should be linked in please Charlie you're own what you say that Jason's got two more years belly eggs got one so he's going to have to break his contract for one guy anyway regardless so why extend it 100% so he's going to have to break it yeah I think that's all reasonable but that's that's how it's explained to me yeah but Para matter of getting bullied then by a manager right now because there's no CEO in place you should become the ELSE I'd love to do it a lot of time hold we're a certain tie at higher and help us get some good sponsors and I'll make Para matter great again they've come years later be know that we know and he'd be coached and I'll say I'm good mate to Peter Sterling and he supports me in mind Devers okay no but no seriousness it's crazy day I know you wrote on the weekend I try to get the guys speak about Sunday and they didn't no one was really that strong in it but two years left in your deal ready what about a view wouldn't you yeah ready we're ready we'll I know you want to talk about ready because we've actually got some audio of Brent Reed from yesterday's

show he doubled out of the mark no one needs to was it takes a take a listen to this well I did say I mean Bulldog we raised some mineral 360 Bulldog I think you went too far Bulldog spoke about his legacy and I said well how can you have a legacy when you've only had two years in the game I agree with the other legacy and it look I'm I said I'm not having a gap mark I think he's one of the great players in our game and I reckon if he stayed in the game he rewrote some market for wingers the the pay market for wingers but he's been too easy yeah legacy I don't know where he was how are we gonna like it I don't think we're gonna miss a bike I need to spend two years and quickly forgotten a little bit too far would you like to retract that no I think no no I think well you're gonna in five years time you're gonna be talking about mark your mark you gonna be talking about Nathan we're gonna remember him we're you're remembering okay I don't know he's done my he's done some amazing okay the comparison he's Joseph so elite there's no people are moved on from Joey well that's what I agree with you and I love Joey Brent Rady's off the backs fence Annie so he reckons that Mark will be forgotten

quickly this is not a shot at radio I just need I wanted praise Mark right yeah mark the one you need to want to say he's a elite athlete he's made a huge he's played for a Australia he's one of ashes he's won an origin series he could win a grand final in the space of two years I think that's incredible I don't he's done things on a football field that I've seen no one else do and I've been watching League for 40 years I have not seen a better athlete play rugby league than Mark no longer need to say and to say he'll be forgotten well he won't be forgotten by me and I reckon there are a few highlight reels it'll do the rounds saying well look at good that guys and what's I think it's really sad that he's leaving rugby league I think I'm genuinely upset about it we put we say we replace players show me someone who can replace Mark you know I think I haven't seen I have not seen better plenty have you seen a better athlete yeah

I really look back at it and I go I've been in 40 all my life but when I go to especially when I'm not coaching I go to a game and I go to who am I really excited to see and I used to love going and watching Cameron Smith applies trade I used to I used to I used to love watching Billy play yep Benji and Jeff Dean that was like something special when he was at his peak I go and do the same with Mark now I go there and I excited for an old bloke to go and watch a play a play one play and not a team I go excited about seeing what he's going to dish up today so a couple of old bloke sitting watching the game for a long time like yeah in terms of athletes and what he can do on the field have you seen anything like he's just he's athleticism he's ability to sum up situations and that intercepted passable intercept position himself he took an intercept the week before and was on the ground got up and out then raced to the corner he's positioning himself like

I was listening to James Sidesco talk about him and he said when he first come oh no I was Anthony Michello he said he watched him at training and he was sort of big clumsy he didn't know where to be in his first year the way he's adapted and learnt the game and wing play is hard yeah I've had folks that play wing their whole life to position himself to put himself in that position to defend the run and then defend the pass is so hard it is like a split second if you're not in the right position you'll miss that opportunity and he nails it and some of his obviously when he carries a football like he's ability to beat if 10 if he's 10 metres out and he's got covered defense he'll find a way through he's either something special outside you just don't know you don't know what he's going to do and like he might make a big mistake he's got the trouble ball from the game right that's that's a weakness he's got the but what he does like he might let it try but he'll score three for it or he'll do something spectacular to set up a try it was too last week there's one the week before he's odds on you know get on him this weekend to score at

some point we're him and Daniel to be as marju as any I think from memory yeah yeah marju they'll be kicking to him if they get the opportunity that they usually set up the other side of the field they set up his side and kick to Daniel to poo but if something happens hey let's go to the other bike because he can jump as well actually Daniel's probably still better in the air than him even though Marx is great athlete I think Daniel's reliable man's reliable near Mark is graded everything else so radio respect you I don't agree with you on that one bit we'll be talking about him for you know in five ten years time we'll be talking still about him so he's not going to be easily forgotten no another interesting take on yesterday show which I know you heard as well this was David Rickier talking about the dolphins and the roosters softrun I reckon it's one of the softest runs to a grand final of something oh you turn on too no you've been at the route you've been at the roosters all year and I get all flak you've been at them hey they were more I tip them to be here you keep saying they should have won more and they've got everything and they're the best roster in the game let's go back week one of the finals they play the pants

Nathan is synbed right they can't get the job done there they they pick off one in a septuary and a robtoil crash over week two they play the sharks the sharks lose their half back in the first two minutes they then use lose their biggest punch off the bench syphilth d'Alice I have to be moved to the five they're telling you one arm five votes only got one and two plays on the bed I thought they should have won by 50 yep week three I think the dolphins respectfully one of the most false top four teams I've seen they got pumped by 50 and 60 through the season right and I think they I think they did very well to be there they got some wonderful players but I don't think they are a top four side and the roosters did exactly what they should have none of the dolphins and what the dolphins have shown all season that they capable of which is getting pumped so Ricky off the back fence well one of the fastest top four teams full times basically the dolphins frauds what's interesting the rickio said that because one of those weak teams has been the sharks yeah you know they had a easy game against the sharks yeah sharks rickio sharks yeah that's what they're called yeah

and um damn they played them and they sort of you know the roosters wiped them and then go onto the dolphins I have to I have to agree with him a little bit they they that has been an easier draw you know in hindsight definitely for the roosters with the roosters in hindsight it's been an easier draw for them yeah they got through pretty unscathed they're fine tune their game they're strong they're powerful they're nearly fully fit I think they are fully fit don't think they would pick anyone else than the players that they're kind of watching the day of the moment as we're as we're speaking they're still down he's a chance yeah I think he's a chance you'll play for sure yeah it's an honesty test he's gonna he's gonna even if he's not feeling great he's gonna say he's he's right so I'll say rickio's half right so with the roosters right they did get they did a hand-wreth right yeah they lost yeah but that's that's not an easy game no they lost it's still not an easy game but they lost then they had what rickio sharks yep rickio sharks then they had Dolphin so rickio sharks it does are they well they were in that semi-final always they didn't have to I didn't have to fight that hard to get done I think Niko goes off in the first 10 minutes yeah

but yeah but Del's dolphins whoever's dolphins were the dolphins were favority firm favorites life favorites well but never been to that game at home that's a good win-up it's a great win I think it's a good win I think to disregard beating the dolphins in front of 50,000 people fins up you know all that sort of stuff that's a good win and they and they did it pretty well yeah and they they did have the where they had a bit of luck right is Niko got hurt then Katowel got hurt that's two playmakers get injured and that's where I think you know if you want to have give rickio some credit on his theory maybe things worked out well for them that way yeah the sharks weren't the best and the dolphins weren't at their best yeah and their playmakers were hurt so that that helped the roosters yeah the roosters roosters played without walker for one of those but as well you know so I just thought the roosters had people who's fallen a row at one point yep they did so it couldn't the tigers yeah the tigers they'd beaten the knights this season and

they'd beaten the roosters so look at them they could have been the grand final doesn't work that way Cody Walker what's the latest Danny been offered to other clubs wow yeah been offered that they've been asked you want Cody Walker wow Danny I went through that when I read that that is what you said I don't think there's that many clubs at this time of the year that could Cody Walker in I'm not saying they don't want him but you know you you go down limited New Zealand no Melbourne no you know the dragons know and you know because of the time of year yeah and money it's not about the player yeah timing is everything sometimes in this game and there's not that many clubs that could actually fit Cody Walker right no what do you pay him what's he what do you pay oh and I said earlier on here it's life after footy but you've got to pay him what he's worth for next year I think it's 450 I agree with exactly 450 yeah it's south yeah it's south and it's gonna stay with elsewhere maybe 500 so is it really worth moving clubs for that probably it's

gonna work at south isn't it yeah so you know I also worry about south what are they if they don't have Cody there what what do they have what a screwed well what do they have in terms of like their spine is yeah a little bit up in the air yeah and they need the yeah the brilliance of Cody I I think I'd be I'd be locking him up I just I just get a free on that Wayne sitting back somewhere in Queensland he's rocking chair going he ain't going anywhere yeah yeah going anywhere let him go let the club shop him around see what he's think but he's not going anywhere and this 1.7 for La Trille of the Bay I don't see that I that's I just don't see it like I know for a fact that the Bayes recruitment people were not on the same page as Melmeninger so that that offer oh well that idea of an offer I don't know if it's just a story I don't know but La Trille is not getting 1.7 at the at the Bayes I would give the La Trille 1.7 to go to the Bayes because the

Bayes haven't got anyone to of that level and ability and profile it's a lot of money I know it's a lot of money but you've got to spend it somewhere you can't save salary cap money so get a big fish like La Trille in there might attract a couple of other medium sized fish there as well so I wouldn't be against I know it's a lot of money but a lot and but I don't think what's the Bayes they want to Bayes are not interested I don't I don't know even how interested in La Trille are that's a bit of a worry though Danny that you've got different parts of the Bayes not on the page and publicly not on the same page because obviously someone from the Bayes are spoken to you Melmeninger gave some quotes I think to Peter Badell I think in the paper all around and they always are making the story up I'm just telling you that that there is the Bayes La Trille Mitchell was loosely discussed a recruitment loosely discussed not in a serious manner to say yes we want to sign him right and I think La Trille is like you I think he's a great player no no question about that but for the Bayes to the Bayes were surprised

at the level of interest it was being expressed publicly La Trille I'm not going anywhere I'm staying at the Bayes. He might just say I want to prove everyone wrong as well say it's out there you know he'll take less and do a great job for them. You know if Bradman best ends up leaving Newcastle which he's going to have some some huge offers and they're they're caps a little bit tighter could La Trille Mitchell maybe take Bradman best spot and get closer the far. Make that if if that makes a hell of a lot more sense to me La Trille at Newcastle I'm I haven't made any calls on to see if they're interested but that geographically emotionally everything makes more sense to me to see that than him and in Perth. Perth it got a little bit of the Tigers about him already. Yeah they got a lot of Tiger vibes. They got a lot of Tiger vibes. Well they've got issues they've got issues I think you know the coach and the assistant coach don't get along yeah the CEO uncroven yeah totally uncroven not everyone loves the CEO yeah I just think

that they look at it. And if the coach and the assistant coach aren't getting on they haven't played a game yet. I'm telling you if they're not getting on now it is not going to work. I've been happy for months. It's happy times at this stage of year he got a track of two camp. Well if you're if you're not they're going to lose a lot of games and that's when you're under pressure that's when you you're totally hope to lose like have you heard about his bed. He's got a bet with James Bracey that the Bears what is it? I can't remember the five games it's five games they win five games. He's got to get a tad of a bear on his face. Yeah and then James money my face on my face on my face on my bum will probably be and then James Bracey has to go triple M Tuddo if they lose if they win less than that. Well I think you might be getting a bet. It's Tuddo five is not that. I was hoping maybe maybe another covert outbreak happened to show them a baby soon. I can be like a little teddy bear. Yeah exactly. I'm cheering hard for

I'm a bear man. Yeah you give me cheering hard. Yeah I want to see I want to see the tap. Well I mean look at it. I'm feeling pretty confident this stage. Good content. I'm feeling pretty confident this stage. I mean unless they make some YouTube you'll be on YouTube you're like you're like talking about YouTube all the time. Can we YouTube? Yeah we like YouTube. We'll put a we'll put a maybe live streamer and YouTube on the triple Mitter I'll get the tattoo. How many players have they signed? I'm sorry about 24 players. I thought more. I think it might be more now. Yeah it might be more. I thought it's around the 26 mark and I think they've got again the the trail for 1.7. I think they've got around a million left to spend. And I think there's about four spaces from from that's I was trying to find that. Well let's look at that Danny. Three of them the minimum is 150s are right. That's right. That's means they've only got 550 to spend max on a player because they're going to have to fill those four. Three of them on 150. So is the troll going to of course not go like five of course he's not. Of course he's not. No, it's already go there for 550 and you know they've got this third party where they can top it up a little like maybe 750. Four players left Danny a million like exactly what you said four spots left a million dollars left to spend. So

they've got 550 max on a player. Yeah. So we're wasting our time. Yeah. And it sounds like Mal is knows if it sounds like Mal doesn't know his roster as very well as well. It doesn't know I say what the money they've got available. You're saying that Charlie. I think yeah anyway. Daly Ems it tonight. It's going to be a cracker. Is it do you go to the Daly Ems Danny? No. No. No. No. You would have gone as a coach of a dragon's and sharks. Of course. Yeah. I want a couple of times. Um, um, come on Charlie. You walk into that way. I went a couple of times. Well I went in 2016. They sent a car to the house and sent make sure the wife was done up and I thought it was going to get coach of the year and everything was heading towards that. We won 15 in a row. I remember that. Um, and then I get there and dirty Ricky Stewart won it. So I haven't even gave you a rickie win. Not enough. Um, maybe maybe a couple of mates there voting for him. Melbourne more minor premieres. Uh, we came second and Melbourne came third, I think. Um, yeah, probably.

You're probably right. I went over. I talked to him. I always talked to him about it and he dislikes. But um, yeah, it's interesting how like I think the like profile of the Daly Ems is sort of not just in my view a little bit to sort of dropped a little bit. Um, I used to be a big night and I don't know when the bad time to put it on if it's the week before the grand final of the week after the grand final. I suppose it loses interest after the grand final, but it's going to be interesting tonight too, that if the Daly Ems medalist is not there. Yeah. I think they've got to do it on the Monday. They got on the Wednesday. I think we sort of Monday, the, the, is the peak for buzz. I reckon I've like, oh, the grand final set, how exciting. Yeah. Get everyone there and get media there. And that Wednesday, it's like, we kind of like, do we care about the Daly Ems? I think this is interesting, Charlie. Right. I agree with what you're saying. Um, but it also takes me to the conversation we've heard a couple of times about now that we're living in this build up to the grand final. Could we do it for two weeks? I think we're talking about the two. I'm already, I've got story for T. I'm getting it where yeah, I need, I need the game to happen.

Yep. And I, I want this to happen because I've got, I've got story like we get limited access to players. We get some, but not it's not unbelievable. I've put in a bunch of requests this week and I'm not getting a lot of love back. So for roosters or nights, I just, I won't say, but I'm just saying, I'm guessing it's going to be the roosters because we've tried to get stuff from the roosters and they get, they haven't even replied my email. Well, I wouldn't reply to yours either because you're a rooster hater. No, no, no, not a sum to do with me being heading the roosters though. Like the rooster do the bare minimum. Let's have a hard, it's been hard. It's been hard to get a lot of stuff. Like I've asked for extra stuff. Yeah. And I'm not getting a lot of extra love. So I, I'm resourceful. Like I, I went in and interviewed Mark. No one can need to wear a size Marmot Founder in Fiji. Oh, awesome. And she was, we just story last night. She was unbelievable. Yeah, it's awesome. Just the story she told about Mark's upbringing, not being able to forward sneakers. Yeah, it's just they're really nice stories to hear and graph, graph final weekend. So she wanted him to stay in the NRS. Yes. Yeah. She, she was, she did not want him to come to rugby league. She said, it's scared her because it was too physical, too physical. Now the way the roosters have treated Mark and her, she

wants to, she just doesn't want him to go back to rugby. She said, I'm really sad he's going back to rugby because she's, she's been indoctrinated by the roosters. Yeah. Wow. Yeah. Do you think Mark has some regret leaving the roosters? I don't know. I, he's going to be earning a truck like the money playing Japanese rugby. It is a little bit off Broadway, though, isn't it? Yeah. Yeah. But if you could earn, you do an adenosuit. Yeah. And dub, he's going to be earning dub all. He'll play for the wallabies, won't he? On the wing. I'd imagine so. He, people keep telling me he was a wallabies best player in the world cup. He was. He was. That was a disastrous world cup. That wasn't it? Like we were. I think we really sucked. They won with 11 men the other day. They were. Yeah. So it could be bad. And if you put toss Mark in there, toss hangers, cried in there. Yeah. 1.6 Joey Sualee. See, he's, he's becoming the odd man out there, I think. Oh. That's the talk they tried to make him a center. And he's been pushed to the wing. And now they're not sure. I'm putting on putting Mark on the wing for the wallabies. Yeah. I don't care who else is here. Yeah. I agree. I agree. Hey, we got to get out of it. Because you got to go.

But I did want to ask you, Funno, very quickly, if we've got time. Curtis put this question. The run out to great question. Did you have an underrated player in 2016 that you knew if he was on Sharkswood win? Yeah. It's an interesting question. I thought in 2016, the one thing that stood out for us was our bench. We only used 25 players that year. And sometimes I didn't really, I just, you know, gave blanks of rest during that period of time, especially at the back end. But my bench, we used to call him in. We changed everything into our bench. We called him our win packs because they definitely made an impact. And who was your bench player? Our bench was Chris Harninson, Jason Bikuya, Sam Takatizi and Jared Beale. So Jared Beale could cover anywhere in the backs. And Takatizi, he was just so strong and powerful. He just did a small stint before half time and after half time and terrorised football teams. Jason Bikuya was just a worker. He was a good ball runner. Kick chase, love the kick chase, worked really hard and Harno had been around for a bit,

but was just a glue to our whole club. He wasn't part of the leadership, but he was a leader. And those four people, I think Charlie were the difference. I couldn't name one, but that bench, or what we called our win packs, was the difference. I think they just made so much of a difference. And they were happy doing that job because sometimes you get players don't want to be on the bench. They want to start and so on, but over a period of time, they just knew their role and they got their job done. So it would be one of those four. Love it. The grades have you both in. We'll be back again next week. We'll be back obviously all through the World Cup as well. So stick around for that. Danny, great to see you. Flano, great to see you. See you soon. Thanks, Charlie.
