Historic Gay Club in Birmingham Catches Fire

0:00In Birmingham today, March 6th, a historic gay club in Birmingham called the Quest caught fire Thursday night around 10pm. The Birmingham Fire Department rushed to the scene at the decades-old spot, which has long served the local LGBTQ community. The club drew crowds from all over Alabama back in its heyday, acting as a key gathering place for folks in the community. Josh Coleman, with Central Alabama pride, called the news heartbreaking, noting how tough it was even when the place shut down a couple years back. He spoke for many who feel the loss deeply. The city had closed the quest more than a year ago over safety issues and reports of violence. Fire crews had to return overnight to tackle hotspots, and investigators are still working to pinpoint the cause. Coleman hopes for clear answers soon.
