I'm Corey, and this is your Pulse of the City, Birmingham News Today. The Help to Others Foundation, or H2O, just March 22 years of helping Birmingham residents stay connected to clean water. This nonprofit focuses on financial aid for water and sewer bills, plus urgent plumbing fixes, especially for folks over 55 and those with disabilities. They held a special gathering at House 11 in Woodlawn on Thursday, March 12, to celebrate their long-standing mission. Here this week, CEO Dr. Ayesha Castro-Ellington shared that the group has already assisted 83 people with nearly 23,000 dollars in aid since January 1st. They offer up to $500 for bills through Central Alabama Water and up to $1,000 for repairs that save water and cut costs. Down the line. Community leaders see H2O as a vital resource that's rare across the country. Former Executive Director, Jimekia B.S., who helped set up their Woodlawn headquarters

called it a trend setter for spotting the need for water help before federal programs kicked in. She's proud of their growth and still supports the work. The Foundation now aids over 500 households and more than 1,400 individuals each year. They partner with groups like the Middle Alabama Area Agency on aging, on hospitals to keep families healthy and homes running smoothly. Moving ahead, leaders want to boost awareness so more people apply online. Decisions come in about two weeks. They're planning a golf tournament on September 3rd at Brittenwood Country Club and urging donations to keep the health flowing directly to those in need.
