We've got Jacob Chant and Josh King, because not only is the AFL grand final on tonight, Melbourne and South East Melbourne just up the road at John Canterena. Both coaches will join us shortly. The Australian cricket team are getting ready to get set for their summer as well. Kim Garth and Georgia were in two of their styles.

There are functions everywhere around Melbourne. Some have gone very well, some maybe not. Have gone several of these weeks. They've gone, one went pear-shaped, one on shoestay. How's your week been? Then I'm off to Green Acres Golf Club, a little later on. And then Channel 9 tonight. And then to Old Hallibur tomorrow and a few other places. There's a lot of hope, too. There's a lot of hope, too. 4:04That's a good week, but it could have been better. It could have been better. Save is this any? It could have been better. A lot of people have said to me, and I've even said it myself. At least we've got grand final entertainment because the NRL at this stage have no grand final entertainment. Can read me from wrong, Jack, but tones and I pulled out because they wanted her to play Dance Monkey, which she never plays. And she said she's not played. She doesn't like the song. It's the reason we know who she is. She's done it for years. It's right. The biggest hit, well, shit. So the NRL said we'll donate a million dollars to whatever the charity is. So she was getting paid a million bucks, which makes me ask question how much money just tones that I have. I know Dance Monkey was a massive international hit, but she has made bank. I would sing happily sing Dance Monkey, the NRL grand final for 5,000. So I'll do a little brown envelope on the way out. You don't know what I'd do for money these days.

I've got a suggestion because I think there's a little bit of symmetry here. The very sad news yesterday that Angry Anderson died, lead singer of Rose Tatoo. And Angry Anderson, of course, has performed famously at the AFL grand final in 1991. And add it wavly in the Batmobile. Angry Anderson also to help complete this loop, wrote and sang the song suddenly, which played on neighbors when Kylie and Jason got married in 1987. So I wouldn't have been fitting for Kylie to do a Rose Tatoo cover while she is doing the half-time entertainment. At the grand final, so I have a little bit of it. Let's have Bound for Glory. So I put the order in very early and kept saying how much, how much, how much, and I know it says on the ticket comp. So Tommy there, two free tickets to me. So I appreciate that. That's, no, amazing how many free-hour supporters have just flown over on the odd chance that they might be able to get something at the last minute. So I've sprayed a few bullets out on the plane. Matt Spanger just wrote to me there, and I think that was one that I asked him. He's got any tickets. So I owned that person. I owned that person. You are. I didn't realize I could have made, I did get offence in tickets earlier in a week. But I'm actually going to go to mate Adam Rosenberg's place. We're going to have a little party there. But here's the funny thing. Richmond were five and four. Yeah, it's unlucky. I mean, having lived in Perth for the last 13 years in West Coast over the last, probably five or six, five and four is not too bad. Five and four is not too bad. West Coast to take that every day, though, isn't it? One nine games or 10 games in four years. So, now, five and four we take. And it is a step up.

13:12Members fans for a while were famous for Mark Awaving. Memberships. So the pigeon poops a whole lot of people. Was that the way it was? Oh, one was he coaching Terry? Says that. It was either Plow or Sput. Oh, Sput would have taken it well. Sput would have been happy with that. Yeah, he would have been. Anyway, George, when he was on Front Bar, they won the next nine games. Oh, beautiful. So he's taken credit for the pigeon dump out the front. All right, coming to number four, favorite all-time fans. And this is one that just lives on with all of us. And you know what, Dave? He spoke for us. Yes, he did. On Saturday night. This is the Crow's fan in 2009, after a controversial loss to Collingwood at the G. And it's a loopy. The Crow's were robbed. Oh, it's front of me. Right in front of me. Right in front of me. We were all saying that last weekend. We were multiple times, Liam. Oh, not just once, but was that a Jack Anthony? Mark or something? I think so, yeah, yeah. Right in front of me. I love the passion. And it ended up being a goal.

14:13How would you reckon that guy? I'd love to hunt that guy down. Oh, absolutely. To say we're doing such a famous fan figure. Was he taking the piss too? Like I'm going to ramp this up and see who he can land me. Now, I think that was genuine passion. Yeah, passion, we love that. All that is a message tone, to be honest. Every single one of those fans comes in at number three. No, I agree with that. I remember seeing a Hawthorn fan at the last two of the France just bolting up the hill behind the cyclists. I'm not a cycling fan, but occasionally I'll turn it on. When you see the Aussies represent in any audience of the footy jumper on fan, but when they're chasing the bikes up and out, and good goblins up. I saw a bloke in a Collingwood Gerns, you get absolutely torched at the running of the bulls one year.

15:13Oh, yes. That was high entertainer. That was. Okay, coming to number two, the fans, when the lights went out at Waverly in 1996, St. Kilder, V.S. and then, I'm giving a nod to the fans that ran under the ground, stole the point post and started a bonfire in the center square. I mean, that is just outstanding. And then they came back the next week to finish off. And they for as a 20 minutes left or something in the game. That's a plan of Tuesday. Yeah, it is. Yeah, to finish it off. But that's what you really take matters in your own heads. It's got a very European. Yeah, I actually don't mind it being country boy. You can light a fire anywhere. So I have to take my hat off to the man who in 1993 managed to sneak somehow as he walked through the front gate, a pig into the MCG. Yes, yes. Let's go. Oh, there's a pig on the ground. There is a pig at full full. Uh, this is extraordinary. Right, I make him a some tackle. Oh, Darren Holmes there. That was the plane. Was it a tackle?

18:14But, if you've got a bell in your pants, it's a very personal question. There was talk about a few three-hour supporters, Gana J.B. and grabbing a speaker or two. And then when they needed to get it going, just scattered around the ground and just blew tooth their phones and bang. Away it would go unbelievable. It was genuine thought that they were going to go by 15 speakers and scatter them around the MCG. Unbelievable. That's bad. We need to let you go because you need to move on to your next event. Who's winning this game on Saturday and why? Look, I'm going to say Frio. Yeah, I'm going to jump on the Frio. I'm in the purple haze. Did you have a small table of Frio? I'm just all in the right. 22:16So, are you starting to immerse yourself in Melbourne culture and all that stuff? Have you been to a Grand Final yet? I haven't. I know it's a big weekend. I was hoping my hawks would win last week and then I think I would automate an appearance. But my mother's in town from the States, so I think I need to spend some time with her this weekend. No, that's fair enough. Jacob, question around your team. NBA talent, former NBA talent, lobbed into your side. Off the bench, minutes limited. Colour Anthony, obviously, a special performance against Adelaide. How do you balance, you know, starting, not starting, minutes for him? I think for all of our guys, they're all in to play in the right way. And whatever that looks like for us, week to week basis, obviously, Shaley. Still out for us right now. Who's a big piece as well. We'll keep juggling that as we go and get healthy. But yeah, we just want to find the five guys who contribute the best at any given time. And when we do, we'll roll with it. And we know we're pretty lucky to have a bunch of guys who can do that. And early in an NBA season, obviously, players have come from everywhere. As a coach, the role to try and make it meshed together as quick as you can must be challenging at times.

23:20It is. I think everyone has their challenges, whether it's health or timing and those kind of things. But yeah, it's all part of it. And how we come together, I think the team that improves the most throughout the course of the year, usually gets rewarded. And that's certainly how we go. Now, Josh one and one to start the year for South East Melbourne could have easily been 2 and 0. Monday night, did you know about that rule with the free throws? Because I certainly didn't. Oh, I absolutely knew the rule. I was just talking to Jacob about that. I was actually talking to my assistants about who we were going to put in when the ball got on the side out. And I turned around and obviously the correct shooter wasn't shooting. So yeah, there's a little bit of a communication error there. But I was very up front and transparent with the team after the end. That's not why we lost the game. It's why we didn't get a chance to win it. But we gave up 36 points in the third quarter and that's probably why we lost the game. Well, they went to Perth. X. I think I know. I know. And that's a loot number 21 points. To be totally blunt, I was shit ass the Wildcats. Yeah, we're going to start coming. Relax. We're saving it for later in the year.

24:21What did you like about the first game, though? Because as much as the Wildcats were off, you guys were wrong. Yeah, no, I liked our resolve. We got up early in the game. Perth, no matter who they have or don't have it, it's a really tough place to play. It's tough travel. And they came back and tied the game up. And then we were able to kind of put a good fourth quarter together. So I just like the togetherness of the team early in the season. I'm my favorite for you guys to be, Nathan Sauby. Returning? Yeah, yeah. Sobs will get out there tonight. We'll see how he goes. He's had a little bit of a niggly thing in his back. And hopefully, uh, go. Yeah, it's always. It doesn't matter if it's this one or the other third answer out the year. Like, South East or a great team that a great year last year. We're trying to bounce back. And anytime you can have the Melbourne community getting behind sport, as we know, whether it's cricket, footy or basketball, it's an icon of the Australian summer in particular. So, yeah, looking forward to getting out of it tonight. Hey, guys, head coach, usually from sporting experiences that the head coach generally slowly or quickly lose their marbles. How have you settled into the role of you? Become slightly more unhinged. I'd like to think not. I'm probably a little unhinged anyway. But, yeah, I think being a leader or head coach and any capacity has just been the best version of yourself. So, hopefully I haven't changed too much. You'd probably have to ask my coach as a player. I think he has a player, but, yeah, enjoying it. I'm really lucky at Melbourne. We've got a great facility and support around me is second to none.

26:25So, yeah, can't complain. Question about the view before we let you go. What's important tonight? Josh, you first to win. What needs to happen from a Phoenix point of view? Well, we're playing a really good basketball team. So, we have to play a good game in general. But what I'm looking for from our guys is we haven't been able to put four quarters together yet in the preseason as well. So, I think we want to win the game. We have to play a complete game. And when the game, we have to play a complete game and that's playing all four. Yeah, I'll give these guys a lot of credit. They play the right way and they play really hard. And I've challenged my guys to do the same thing. It's going to be who's willing to do it for longer. It's usually what pretty much every game in any code will come down to us. Who's willing to go and commit to the game playing for longer than the others. So, we didn't do that against Adelaide, which was disappointing. And we gave ourselves an opportunity. But, yeah, this would be a great test tonight. Friendly now, ex. Not friendly at 7.30 tonight. Oh, I'm glad I'm watching. The ball goes up in the air, not friendly. 28:25If you're in Melbourne, surely you're not still working this afternoon. I think Melbourne's the only city in the world, too, that could clock a public holiday for two sporting events. Yes. Grand Final and the Melbourne Cup. I think we should have one on the Monday as well. I don't disagree. Just so we've got that extra day in case for 15 cases. In case we're feeling a little bit rough. Kim Garth and Georgia were from the Australian cricket team will join us on the other side of this J-Clark. We'll be here with us at the corner hotel a little bit later on as well. But we're joking about it off the top here on the Grand Final rub that you've just flown in from Perth. You only landed about an hour and a bit ago. Yeah, literally 250 this morning the alarm went off. So I got to the airport about 345 over at 445. I think the flight was so... A three-manal supporter. She died in, credit records due. She charded the flights. So we had to pay her back essentially. Over we came with a painful of frail supporters. I'm hearing that there's flights learning into Perth. We'd like six to eight people on it. Only to bring 300 back to the Grand Final.

29:25So the flights are running and you know, some of you probably don't calculate if you're from Melbourne. The cost of all this is enormous for families and what not, but as we've got some frail supporters there, pollos and hats and what not on. There's no expense paid for the dockers. I've got mates flying in Newcastle to drop kids in Newcastle to in-laws so they'll fly down to Melbourne. Hang on, hang on, hang on. They're doing what? So flying from Perth to Newcastle with the kids. Yep, dropping them there. And then heading down to... Yeah, down to Melbourne. So there's plenty of things happening. And most of my close friends are free mental supporters. And when you get to the age of mid-30s to 40s, you're sort of caught up with the family and what not. But they've been starved of so much success. Like the club entered the competition when they were five. When you're falling in love with the game. There was no early premierships with West Coast or anything like that. It was free mental from day one. And as Shawnee Max said, he was presenting the club.

30:28The club's been kicked the curb over and over and over. I mean, we took the piss out of my mates endlessly. And now they've finally got the opportunity. So a part of me is really hoping that they get to succeed. Do you think there's a part of everyone watching this game on Saturday? Look, they've never won one before. It's such a unique difference between the two. You've got one team trying to win three in a row. And arguably one of the greatest teams of all time, if they are. Versus a team who have never won one before. Do you reckon that they're going to get a little bit of that underdog support the dockers? I think they certainly will. Absolutely they will. I mean, it's very Australian once someone's had success that you support the opposition. Just so happens to be the hippies from free man on the fly. I mean, out of that such a great season. And, you know, if you are a neutral, even some West Coast supporters are starting, which is that's that's war. That's war. That is, you know, you can think of some wars going on at the moment. That's like switching oppositions. You know, in an actual real life war. So they're gathering a lot of momentum and locking you kneel out at the moment.

31:32I mean, I can see the momentum growing. I can see them starting favourites. There's a bit of audio that's just come and landed on the desk here at the corner hotel as well. This is from the plane earlier this morning. I'm told that your breakfast co-host Katie Lann, the wonderful Katie Lann from Triple M Perth, might have commandeered the plane. Let's take a listen. Ladies and gentlemen, this is your other captain speaking. We are minutes away of touching down in Melbourne for the AFL brand final. Remember, local time is two hours ahead. Please fast forward your clocks. Do a wealthy time. Yeah, she's uncontrollable. She is uncontrollable. So over this period, Triple M have had to bring in about ten people to keep an eye on her every hour. There's a chance that we find her in another country of free I do win. So, that was the charter 200 free I fans. They just got into it over and over and over again. So, there's a lot of joy coming over. There'll be maybe a lot more joy going back.

32:33But there'll be some shattered supporters if they do get toppled. Seriously, what will the party be like if they win? How long will they go for in Perth? For those that don't know, the free area that were like some beautiful old pubs. I don't know whether they'll stay standing. At 815, there's a time lapse from last Friday when the pre-limits was on. 815, the Capuchino Strip, where there's restaurants, pubs, cafes, etc. Empty, not a soul to be seen. Five minutes later, the buses couldn't get through. It was like the New York Nixid won the title in New York. Just without the writing. Well, they'll borderline writing. There's a new bloke on a roof for the skateboard. I don't even know how he got there. But no, it will be a very, very, very long party. Lucky enough to be around Grand Finals quite a few times as a supporter, as a kid, as a player badly. But then post-footy with the media. This free amount of group of supporters, I think, and it hurts you to say it having played at West Coast,

33:34unmatched with their lunatic nature. Unhinged, they walk through the streets like everyone else. Monday to Friday, solid citizens. Game day, they join the team, and it is war. And I love it. This year, up to stadium, there was no better atmosphere at a ground. And you witnessed it yourself. No better atmosphere at a ground than a freeo. One stage, Woffey Time clocks on. The next stage, it feels like you're revolver back in the day. They've got a disco going on in a race. Then they've got a light show. What they've done has been pretty special to be fair. Now, speaking of Woffey Time, news that came in late last night early this morning. The talk was that there would be no Woffey Time at the MCG on Saturday. But the AFL have got together, and we might hear a bit of this on Saturday afternoon. It's unbelievable.

34:36The Woffey Time, it is such a... It's a nothing thing that has grown. That's a PowerPoint presentation. It's a great free PowerPoint presentation with Woffey Time on the screen. And I don't even know if the boat goes through the water anymore. It used to. But, and the success of Woffey Time, if it was ordered, would probably be 50-50, because it's been going for much longer than what people think. But the one that really stood out was the Hawthorn game this year. It became an avalanche, and Woffey Time was born on the East Coast, essentially. And then again, in the Geelong match, did they need Woffey Time? The game was probably done and dusted. But that was the loudest stop this had been for the year. So, I don't know who's in charge of Woffey Time, but if they get the opportunity, do they leave it late? Or do they go early and try to get the crowd going? Yeah, if I was in charge, I reckon I'd pull it if we kicked the first goal of the game and just get everyone going. So, as I said, their game day experience.

35:38Matching the character of, I was in Freeo the other day, shoes are optional. Yep. Thick layer of smokehead height. All that sort of stuff. Timey a life down there. I mean, I'll be back on Sunday, and I'll be straight from the airport down to Freeo if they win. I feel like if I was going to move to Perth, that's where I'd want to be. You would be. Yeah, yeah. I think I'd fit in. A lot of my dad says a favourite about them, to be honest. Now, they've got some very unique characters, Freeo Man. So, the unicorn Luke Jackson, who may very well just win the grand final on his own and Luke Ryan's a weird cat and Brennan Cox, if he plays, is a bit of a weird cat as well. But Patty Voss is just, I mean, he's Brian Taylor's favourite. There was a game earlier in the season where the jumper got ripped and there's no doubt that Vossy ripped the jumper down a bit further just to show the pecs. So, what is he like? It's interesting. Whoever make their jumpers, I'm going to say Seagum, but I'm guessing they actually asked for Vossy's jumpers back to audit whether they've been making them faulty. That's true. They can't keep ripping. He told us a funny story the other day. Actually, the power was out in Freeo. So, Vossy's a part of the trip land family comes in every week.

36:40And he's teammates talk about Patty Voss and how much he means that foodie club. And from external views, you probably think he's a bit of a nob-ed. Yeah. But every club's got their little nob-ed. Yeah. Every team needs a nob-ed. Every team has one. And he told us a story the power was out in Freeo. And he heard something in his front yard and walked out and a bloke was in a balaclava. And probably if you're going to rob a house in Freeo, I'm not robbing Patty Vosses because he's a little bit unhinged. Anyway, Vossy gave Chase and the person panicked and ripped the balaclava off. And it was Neil Erasmus, his teammate. So, rather than leaving it robbing one house, they teamed up and both had balaclava's on and went from house to house, terrorising their teammates with balaclava's. Until they went to Andy Brasewars house, balaclava's on and started making a scene. They ring an Andy was unsighted. He says he was cleaning his teeth. They say he might have been unsighted. But Andy's wife gave Chase down the street.

37:40So, he had Patty Vosses and Neil Erasmus in balaclava's, sprinting down from Main Street of Freeo in balaclava. So, he's a character. They're great. You can just tell the bond that they have is young. They're young. When you're on the road every second week, the team grows. Travel's spoken about a lot. Yes, it can be inconvenient. Yes, it can be hard. But if you take nothing from it, your team just as a, you know, a bit of unity grows so much stronger. Like, I loved my days at West Coast. On the road, 23rd, 22nd, 23rd of year. You'd play, you'd win. You'd find each other's company somewhere. You'd get on the plane, do it all again. Travel sucks at times, but it also can help make your team tighter. Now you two, love your footing, don't you? Have you got a prediction for us for Saturday? I'd like to see Frito get over the line together. Would you? Yeah. Why, is it the underdog theory? I'm a little bit, yeah. I mean, I'm a Richmond fan, so I stopped caring about 40 a while ago. But, yeah, I've got Frito. What about you, Kim? Yeah, I'll jump on Frito as well. I think it's tired of seeing the lines when I think. So yeah, it'd be cool to see Frito for the first time. And you were a Carlton fan? Did you believe when the train was rolling that potentially Carlton could have been here? Oh, I mean, look, it was always going to be tough from that wild car position. And then we just ran out of steam a bit in the end. But, yeah, I'd like to, certainly like to believe particularly once we knocked over Frito towards the back end of the open-air season. But, yeah, it was always a big ask, but look, considering where we were halfway through the year, I think we were to take on that.

41:44So, looking forward to next year. So we talk, and we're having a fun with the fact that you always win as in the same thing. Always, always win. But it is the truth. You always win. Tell us about the World Cup early this year. We were watching on from back home, like the rest of the country, proudly cheering on it. It looked like an unbelievable experience. Yeah, I mean, it was an awesome World Cup tournament all around. I think, you know, the way that they ran the tournament for one was awesome, I think, playing in such amazing grounds over there. I mean, we played on Lord's Couple of Times. Yes. And just, yeah, the way that they packed it out. And I think just, I mean, the way that we played our cricket, I think it was pretty awesome, I think. Just sort of dominated, I reckon most of the games that we played in, I think we were really happy with, I guess, the work that we put in before that World Cup coming off a couple of losses in big tournaments to sort of, yeah, get the chocolates at the end and do that at Lord's against England. On their home turf was pretty special and, yeah, the celebrations after that. Pretty special as well. Well, celebrations, Kim, can you run us through, you win a World Cup? If I ever won a World Cup, you wouldn't see me for a year.

42:45How were the celebrations and what did they consist of? Yeah, they're awesome. We stayed around at Lord's, which is really cool. Got to hang out there for the night until, until I kicked a save pretty much. It was about 11 o'clock and then headed back to the hotel for a few drinks, had a long lunch the next day. And then people kind of parted ways the following day, but, yeah, a couple of us came over to Dublin to my hometown to celebrate my 30th birthday. So I'd love on a couple of the girls in Dublin, so we continued the celebrations there, that was awesome. You would be drinking or a Guinness drinker. What are you typically going to? Honestly, no barriers against a sweet stuff, I don't like. Yeah, I can't. If you're like a Guinness, I think you need to go to Dublin. I've been there and I did enjoy it. Absolutely. Now, we do joke, and as we've said, you win everything. You've got ODI's coming up, T20's, you've got Big Bash, you've got absolutely everything coming up. In terms of the Australian setup, and there's some teams that I'm sure the coaches will continually say, you know, it's sport, you can, you know, competition it's hard. What's the competition like amongst the Aussie girls?

43:46They keep the positions, you know, the competition for those that are out of the team must be, you know, really, really competitive in that environment. Yeah, certainly. I think we obviously have a lot of depth, which I think has made this team so good over the years. I mean, to have someone like Dorsie Brown missing out on that World Cup, I know it was a medium fastball. I'm always looking over my shoulder a bit. There's always kids coming through. I mean, not someone like Wolf, who's just an absolute gun and massive. Well, it's been in the balls and fields. It should all be there. I think she'll be right for the next 10 plus years. But yeah, look, as I said, there's so much depth. Yeah, I think that's what makes this team so good and helps us keep improving as well. Are you seeing the improvement, Georgia Wehrm and Kim Garth joining us, by the way, the Grand Final, right here at the corner hotel? Are you seeing the improvement from other nations? And I'm not talking about England and New Zealand, who have historically been strong, but India are getting better and better all the time. Pakistan, West Indies as well. Are you starting to see that it's not just a three-horse race in women's cricket?

44:46Yeah, I think so. I think Kim and I are lucky enough to play in the WPL over in India. And you sort of see the talent that's coming through there. The youngsters that they've got coming through is incredible. I think the skills that they come out and do straightaway out on the big stage in front of 30,000 people in India is pretty crazy. And yeah, I mean, that Indian team is so strong already and just sort of know that there's those youngsters behind them pushing the case. Already, it's pretty frightening for opposition team, but also pretty exciting for the game. I know we've already had some pretty fierce contests with India already, so no doubt there's going to be plenty more of them to go. It always intrigues me, India in general with cricket. Like you think the AFL Grand Final, they will stay at, I was going to say the Bournemon, I don't know where they're staying at. We don't talk about that. But they'll stay somewhere, get in a bus, go from there to the ground. Pick another hotel. They'll be staying somewhere. Anyway, India, explain to me, I get just intrigued by the experience of playing cricket in India. What's a day to day briefly look like when you're playing cricket in such a mad country?

45:48I think it depends where we are. I think, yeah, it's obviously pretty hectic. I think usually we try and find some sort of coffee shop in the morning and Keelon mornings that way. Often we'll play night games. But yeah, I think in the lead up to the game, it's pretty hectic even walking on to the bus. It's usually a bit of a crowd congregating there, which definitely doesn't happen when you say the Kamo and Sharples trip. But... We can organise that if you want. I mean, once I know. Yeah, it's definitely very hectic and then, obviously once you're at the game and at the ground, can't hear the person next to you. It's usually generally very late, particularly if you're playing against India or a team with Indians. Indian superstars in it is absolutely hectic, but it's pretty special to be quite of. We've got the WBBL season opener that's here in Melbourne, extra status off as well. The Renegades V, the Thunder, Stars and Hurricanes are playing on the same night. So, Kim and we with the Stars, Georgia's with the Renegades and one of their absolute superstars.

46:48The question I have for you though, Georgia, is a long time Renegade. Now that they're for sale, are you the buyer? Yeah, you're buying. It's actually really funny, but we were talking to Sophie the other day and we said that she should buy it because she's loaded now. But, no, certainly not. But, I mean, there's a lot of change coming for the Renegades, but yeah, we're pretty keen on making this last year a pretty memorable one for us. It's probably going to run second to my Perth's watches too, I'd imagine. Don't think that we are ex. The girls over there in WI today. Don't worry about it. Pray out of them. What's on for Grand Final Day, you two? What's the plans? We're going to find ourselves in Annabelle Sutherland's mansion, I think. I don't know. The big horse is hosting. We've actually got training, unfortunately, Saturday morning, which is a bit criminal, I think, if you ask us. What time does that kick you? I think 9 or 10. Who's the idea? 49:55Tell us about the week. I'd love to just pick your brain a little bit. It's just a footy enough for you. What the week is like? You've had the chance to be a part of it. Is it as good as what we all think it is? Well, yes, yes it is. I was lucky enough to play in my 11 years. I was around four grand finals. It's unbelievable. They're free amount of never one one. I'll speak to it from the West Coast side of things in 2015. Because the build up W8 is so passionate about footy. There's nothing else that really matters at the water cooler on a Monday. Yes, West Coast has been deplorable last few years. But they're building it. And a Harley Reed, for example, and a Willem Dersmar. They are as big as celebrities as you'll get in Australia in W8. Like they are hounded. But it's more than that like patty Voss, for example, who we're spoken about or Josh Tracy or Luke Jackson. It is something you probably see in Europe with soccer stars or a little bit of overseas cricket.

50:57You know, cafes and restaurants and walking down the street. The amount of love that is given to them this week at West Coast. It just took over. In 2018, it took over. Might have been 10 to 15,000 at the open training session just to get on the bus to then get the police escort to the airport. And free amount of we're living that right now. I know they're on the plane as we speak. So off text a few of the players who I've got relationships with. You know, they just can't wait to get here and put their best foot forward. That's good as there have been this season. I still think a lot of people who follow football and watch football, they're like, ah, they're free. You know, that's free. And I was probably the same at the start of the year. Sydney would get him. I thought Brisbane would get him. I thought Hawthorne would probably get him and maybe Jolong. Well, they've proved a lot of it's wrong. And you know, those players like Josh Tracy, he reminds me of a young Jonathan Brown. Just that presence and gets up on the wings. And he hasn't had a great final series. So Rick and he might have one up his sleeve.

51:58Because if they win, they've been spoken about becoming immortal in, in free man. And will they be immortal? Or will it just be a really good party for a month? Who knows? Why don't have both? Why don't have both? But it is. So 20,000 are going to, 40,000 are going to go into Frio on Saturday. That's more than the population that they have in the free man. That's unbelievable. It's going to be swarmed. They ran out of beer last week. So beer's being doubled. There's obviously kid-friendly spots and whatnot. But those docker supporters are starved and pretty crazy. So that's a fine recipe. What about the other side of the coin then for Brisbane? So they won the last two. Their season was a bit slow to get going. I think they were six and five or six and six after 12 rounds. Then they got cooking. They were nine and one on the way home. And a bit of a slip up week one against Sydney. They were clearly off. So since then, are you starting to see the sort of Brisbane that we've come to expect now?

52:59Yes, but I think Brisbane's suit Frio really well because ten times this year, the opposition's kicked a hundred points against Frio. Frio haven't been their best in these finals, but they grabbed momentum. And if Brisbane are going to let the floodgates open for a period of time, free man will take that. And if they can get to, as I said, ten games this year, the Oppos kicked a hundred. If Frio can get to a hundred, they can also defend pretty well. So where it's horthon in that game in the first week of finals, that was strangled, didn't handle the pressure. Sydney strangled didn't handle the pressure until later in the game. Brisbane, I don't think their midfield has the pressure to strangle. They want to shoot out whether they're playing runners up there. Whether Figgs wants it or not, it's going to be a shootout. So for mine, that match up for Frio is great. If Brisbane play their best in Zach Bailey and Cam Rainer, compliment, Ashcroft and a few plays, and Dunkley, they might be too much. But if they just take the foot off, free man will whack five on their chin before they know.

54:01Well, that's the thing with the docker's ex, isn't it? In both their finals that they've won, Adoptus and then obviously on the weekend as well, they had it just a ten, twelve minute period where they won the game. So can they afford to do that? They did it late against you long, and then they did it really late last week as well. Can they afford to wait until midway through the third quarter to turn it on? Absolutely not. And this year early in the season, they bolted Brisbane at the gabbour. Pad Vos got the three-pound low votes, terrorised Harris Andrews, so that'll happen again. Matt Johnson went to Locky Neil. So Locky Neil's not playing. That is an enormous win because he's a good player. But I imagine Matt Johnson will just go to Will Ashcroft. That'll happen straight away. They're deep in that midfield. Sarong, Bray, Shaw, Hayden Young. His reputation people will say outweighs his performances on the field. And I think that's probably due to injury and what not. Hayden Young, he's probably 1A in that midfield if he can get cracking.

55:01And we saw it against Sydney for a quarter and a half. He doesn't kick that goal in three quarter time. They probably find it hard to win. So hopefully those guys can put their best foot forward because they deserve to. I've seen it multiple times in Western Australia. Maybe those who don't get to watch Premier Man or choose not to watch Free-O too often. Don't know the brilliance of a Caleb Sarong or the gut running of an Andy Bray Shaw. Or just how bloody good Hayden Young is when he's in his fire. And we only see it in quarters. And if he can do a four-quarter, I think Brisbane are going to have trouble containing. Other side of the coin, if they were to win at Brisbane and win three in a row, it puts them in the most elite of company, doesn't it? It has to. You know, you're thinking about the Brisbane from 2001, 2003. Yeah, we were, I was young then and we black, boss, acumenous, lapen, brach. Like they were just mega stars that you never thought you'd see. And then Hawthorne threw a three-peed in there. Yeah.

56:01Jolonged in throughout three-peed in there, but may as well if you squeeze them all together. Certainly, Chris Fagan deserves so much credit for how they've gone about the build and the way to get to this opportunity win three premierships. I love the idea of being a big country boy that they started working around a lot of big country kids. Very smart, wasn't it? And not too dissimilar to Frio. I think you're far more than the same thing to the Hayden Youngs. Bray Shaw is a big and in a city big, but Josh Tracey is a country big lad. Voss is a country new South Wales, but that's their foundations. Very clever by Fags, whether it was by chance or by a decision. But Chris Fagan, you look at him and I was lucky enough to spend a large time with him at Hawthorne. Just a bloody good person. Yeah. And he deserves to be a three-time premiership coach. The only thing is there's 23 folks in purple who say you don't deserve to be and we're going to go to war over it. Isn't it funny, X, the amount of people that you talk to this week about the game and all that sort of stuff? I reckon the amount of people that have said to me, I want Brisbane to win for Chris Fagan.

57:03I think that's probably about the only reason I've ever heard. Honestly, without being. I haven't heard too many people say, I want to see a three-peat for Zorco or you know, I want to see Draper Winnie's first flag or Oscar Allen or whatever it might be. I think the sentiment is clearly around Chris Fagan and the type of person he is. And he also did it quite tough with the Clarkson staff. To be able to get Dust himself off and go on and be so successful, he could be going for four premierships in a row too. Would that be unbelievable? If they just skipped over line against the pies, he's become a generational coach and you know, the whole of fame or however they are, they aren't wrestling with those people in. Someone like Fagan, who was Clarkos, security guard, mentor, a bit of everything there for that pure to success, as Mancest replicated himself and you know, it's a story within itself. The big names just keep rolling through the corner hotel for Triple M Fest. J.B. and Billy coming up a little bit later on. Mattie L. Be on after two o'clock. Right, as you said, a club has been kicked to the curb so many times. An incredible list build, and this game itself I think will be absolutely fascinating. And from the Brisbane perspective, right, their defences pox. It is pox. We fought for decades, right? What are we saying with this? That's the technical term.

1:00:04They think they should even write pox on the board. I love Harris Andrews. The two are a great man, right? But they are the 14th rated defence in the competition. Right? We've been told for so many years, defence wins flags. We're not in 2026 because Chris Fagen, he would have been thinking, we are what we are. There's no emergency fixed to this defence. We're just going to have to score more than everyone else. And that's what they're doing. It is unusual though, because they've won two premierships. The players are pretty similar to what they put out last year and the year before and the year before. But everyone scores the fun against them. I can't work it out. And they do it from the middle. That will be the most fascinating part of this game. It will be the Santa clearance break away, the Ashcrofts, etc. Versus the serongs, the Braz shores, the Hayden Younds, the Bruins and Genius of Luke Jackson. So it will be that midfield battle for mine. How the three mental half forwards, bolt and clearly, Murphy Reed go to work. And then on the other side of that coin, you got Cameron Reiner, who's untackable. Untackable in the AFL.

1:01:05And place where I'm grandfathering the big games, big moments. He, Cameron Reiner, I love it because on a day like this, the siren goes, the ball bounces. He's standing there with a smile on his face. Yeah. Because he's saying, he get to meet. And then he's saying, try and tackle me because it's a first player. Zach Bailey, somewhat similar. So I think the goal scoring power of this one, I think it could be a little bit wet on Saturday. But I think the goal kicking, the offensive nature, I think it's going to be a beautiful game. The footy over the past four weeks has been spectacular. And you're thinking forward to next year and thinking, what's the footy going to be like next year because you follow the Premier. So we might see this offensive time. It should be nice. It's scoring power. Yeah, it should be nice to watch. Back in your day, I mean, 10 years ago, it was the defensive hold. Well, it would, it would, it would, it would introduce the, the cluster. The cluster. And then we rolled over to Western Australia for the Eagles Web. Yep. And now it's just going on down the midfield. It's great. I say back in your day, like, it's not 1950s or something. No, no, no, no, no. I say 30 kilos ago.

1:02:05So I mean, what's going on with Lockheed Neal? Yeah, will he play it? Yeah, I've said all week I don't think he is. And I think he's a bit unlucky to some degree because at the start of the year, the AFL was really clear. We don't want the gap punches. And that's what happened. He's come from behind and he said, let's be honest, not all that hard. You know, like we hit each other harder than that in the triple M offices, don't we? So the AFL wanted to crack down. I don't think they can be in a position where they fold now. Yeah. So I've been of the whole view, they are the rules. You're not, you might not like the rule. It is the vision clear enough to say that's exactly what happened. There is going to be some new vision, which is permitted, which is going to be shown tonight, which I think is not favorable to Lockheed. So is that the AFL? They don't bring that vision. Yes. So I think Bruceman's best chance is to get off on the record. The good fella clause. They're good fella clause. There'd be a few that would dispute that. Wow. Oh, yeah, I'm not answering that.

1:03:05Leave me out. Instagram has been busy on that front. Yes, it has been busy. Has been busy. Has been busy. Plenty of hashtags getting around. But even the record, Jay, itself, like there have been fines in the past for jumper punches for Lockheed Neil. Have they not? I think he's been suspended four times for striking. And the nature of the incident is different. Where Pendlebury was a football act, it was a bump. That's how he got off. In this instance with Lockheed Neil, it's a bit different because it's an intentional act. It's a bit of a cheap hit. So, look, I'm not expecting him to get off to be honest. I don't give a place. Did Gini go in hard for him? There's obviously been joined the dots in the connection between... The broke out. But those two did Gini put his hand up and do his best for Lockheed Neil? They had a conversation which Lockheed Neil related the tribunal. And so I spoke to Jack and he said, you know, a fly could have hit me harder. So, he did his absolute best. He's a big game player. They're stacked in the midfield anyway. I don't think it'll have a huge difference. He has been playing off the bench a little bit. I think Brisbane can still win without him.

1:04:06I'm fascinated by the coach. Can we talk about the coach from the beginning? Absolutely. He's Chris Fagen, he's won three premierships in a row. And he's probably sitting there this week. Obviously, all eyes on the game. But if he wins another one, is this the end of Chris Fagen? Is this the Joel Selwood style? It's the sword down. Fairytale finish. I mean, it has been... What's his contract say? I mean, he thought of that. He's contracted for one more year. So Brisbane's still expecting him to go again. But I think there will be some consideration from Him and his family. I think the Hawthorne racism toll, which has been completely exonerated for, had a huge impact. He's spending some of the holidays chasing around the lucky nail issue. Yeah. And you know, he's had his health issues at times more in recent years. So a third flag. I just think there's some chance that this could be the bow out. And the goodbye. He'll give us a consideration. The cabinet's pretty full. So again? The cabinet's pretty full for Fagen. If you win three and you've just lost one by a beast picker,

1:05:07I mean, you've been pretty successful. The problem with that, though, is the window is still open for Brisbane. Whatever happens, you think of the young talent. We mentioned Ray and Abalee, Kyle Lomon, the Ashcock Brothers, Will Ashcock's 21. Let's go. Bill Mott. A third-com speed, man. That's unbelievable. The only problem with the lucky nail doesn't play is Frio Tag Lockheeniel with Matt Johnson. So if he doesn't play, it'd be very unlikely that he'd miss third-norm Smith because Matt Johnson, unfortunately for him, will go straight to him and be attacked. So if Lockheeniel plays, he might run wild again. Well, it's hard to, I just sort of back the level Ashcock in these moments. He's become a big game player, clearly with two norm Smiths already. So I think the Fags, if they win, I think the spotlight will be on him to some degree he'll take some time to weigh up his decision. But that's a big story. And he might take a longer break and maybe get a pay rise out of it. I'm not sure. But whether you've still got the fire inside, he's been doing it for 10 years, he's got a new 70% winning record, three flags.

So, it's not easy to get here, but Sydney train was the method of transport for the lads in front.

1:07:10I'll be honest, I think it's nothing worse. Oh, I do. Full credit, full credit, I love it. Well, I loved it. Great work. Keep back in Relax. They're going to be right down in front of us for the rest of the afternoon, I reckon. Now, before the break, Jay, we'll get you both of your tips before we finish as well. We mentioned that you sat down with Andrew Dillon, the CEO of the AFL. What's going on with the game and where is it going, do you think? Yeah, I mean, well, they're happy with the scoring trend and the new rules and the impact that has made. It's been a pretty attractive product. You go back sort of 10 or 15 years ago, there was more congestion, more tackling, more defence, but it is on a new offensive sort of edges, as we sort of mentioned before. They want to shorten it a little bit clearly. They've got Tazzy coming in and potentially adding another game, another round for everyone. And then they've got a big broadcast deal rights to clinch. They think that'll be worth more than last one, which is $4.5 billion. But I think one of the trickiest issues is what happens with the Pullman 5 over this next month or so,

1:08:10because you've got clubs trying to claim a player like Nick Blakey, St Kilda and Jolonga among the two. Melbourne, North Melbourne have been the ones to enquire about Nick Blakey, but with the ongoing police investigation, there's going to be some uncertainties. Surely clubs won't dive into those players without knowing what the result of the investigation. Which is what I asked Andrew Dill, and how they're going to be able to find out. So they've got full capacity to be able to talk to Nick or any of the players about the events. They're clearly denying the allegations at this point. So Nick Blakey is the one, I think the others stay, but Nick Blakey is definitely the one, who's probably been a little bit dirty with how the season ending ban. The six weeks suspensions ended their season. I don't think he was thrilled with how all that played out. And we saw yesterday, they're back at the club for the first time. There you go back a few weeks. The divides around this and the emotion that's molten the turmoil was significant. To the point where people thought these guys can't come back.

1:09:11There's the pain in the hurt. It's too real. We saw players crying on the field. The impact was enormous. I think the younger players from Sydney would be thinking their journey's still got years and years ahead of it. A rampage in our meals with an ACL. Those sort of players, I would imagine being like, that's an opportunity that you've just cost us. And so those conversations began yesterday. And you guys know the locker room. Well, you know the locker room better than anyone's. They wouldn't have been easy because you got also much love and friendship, but you've been let down. And what would have been is, you know, he and he, they would have idolized. How many times would have players left the ground and gone? Thank Christ we have eyes at he and he big hug. Chad Warner, how good is Chad. We love that. And then all of a sudden, I think honestly in the first spot as you would probably agree, those players played last Friday. I think the results different and Sydney are in a grand final. But that there really takes a bit to get over. I think for those players it had been at the club for a period of time.

1:10:12So how many of the five J. Do you think you'll be playing for Sydney next year? I think it'll definitely be for. I think the Blakey's up for grabs at the moment of potential return home. North Melbourne, I'd love him. He's the Johnny Blakey's obviously North Melbourne. Yeah. Great. I think Warner ends up heading back home. I'm told he wants to head to Freemantle later in his career. Of course. It's a pretty easy choice right now. How does that imagine the riches in the midfield? Who wouldn't want to play under Luke Jackson? So Andrew McCulcher and the West Coast crew got to get their rebuild cranking. So they looms in appealing destination to Chad Warner because they'll be able to have the picks in the salary cap space. Freemantle more restricted. But they look like the clearly the more appealing choice at the moment. Warner's locked in to Sydney for one more year. But after that, I think there's a question mark. You say you'd want to rock under Luke Jackson. You're not under selling Bailey Weaves as six year contracts. Six of the final students in the top ten vice versa. Is there a...

1:11:12I know that it's in the hands of the police. Is there an ETA on when the AFL feels there might be a ribbon wrapped around this saga? A post trade period. So it mounts away, which makes it difficult. An Andrew deal in the AFL CEO. Yesterday I said, well, it's by the way. The clubs know the situation to some degree. They need to do their due diligence. You need to interview a player clearly and formally to get more events. As I said, the players that deny the allegations will see what flushes out. Jay, James Hurd didn't get the Essenden job as much as he was very keen to do it. There was a public campaign both with him and former Essenden players as well. He's not going to be there. What's he going to do next, do you think? I think he has interest in becoming Essenden's GM of football. So essentially the right hand man of Spokanevay. And I think Spokane's up for that as well. The bombers would love to have Hurd, but in one capacity. If Hurd goes back then, I think he has interest in it being a meaningful and significant role. He owns squillians in his business world. He's not doing it for a 180 grand.

1:12:13It needs to be a significant role. I think Essenden have wrestled with that for some degree. I think they want Craig Voszo to come back. Could Hurd be a GM of football? That's the position he wants to be. I don't think it's as an assistant coach or a lesser role. It would be a fascinating dynamic. I think it would speak to everyone to the Essenden people. I think it could help reunite a football club. It has largely been a little bit broken because you've got the new coach in Spokanevay. He's been so impressive so far. And then you've got the favourites on James Hurd. And potentially a key football official role. So that I think would get ever. It's going to be a tough 18 months for Essenden. I used to go to bed with the number five jumper on my back to get hurt. I was just passionate as you get for Essenden. I have not supported Essenden for 20 odd years. But I was still like, oh, you've got to get Hurd back. How much that person gets amazing, kid. There are so many Essenden supporters out there that just have that. It's that needs to be scratched by James Hurd. He has a superpower, when you spend five minutes with him.

1:13:14You make sure you feel ten-foot tall and ball approved. I can doubt Thomas can do this to a person as well. It's been ten minutes with Hurd. And he just has this ability to make you feel a lot better. And they're self-belief and all of these players say it. I even felt it in a media role with him. So, I think it could be a powerful return. It's longer odds at the moment. I think that is the key part that it is as a GM football, if it's even possible. Trade period, it's going to hot up absolutely from Monday after the grand final. It starts to get busy. It's already getting busy. Yeah. Zach Butters was one of the first big names. Is that going to be a straightforward as what we think? No, it's going to be complicated. I think it's going to drag out to the last five minutes of the trade period. To be honest, it's going to be convoluted. It's going to be dodgy side deals everywhere. Don't think for a second. It's going to be completely legitimate. Port Adelaide will do a really tough deal, get the most they can. I'm excited for this for the Western Bulldogs, because as we talked before about the scoring trend and the style of play,

1:14:14well, that's the Western Bulldogs. They add Sam Darcy to Norton and Arty Jones and Cody Whiteman, etc. They've got the midfield power and with Jordan Buts coming and playing that key defensive role, I think the Bulldogs can compete with the three manals and the Brisbane. What about some English? Is he disgruntled or is he happy? I don't think him and Lloyd Beverage are best of mates. I just think that that's on the table and I think that's fine. So they get him firing then that is a full midfield? Yeah, and I think to Beverage credit, sometimes their midfield hasn't fired. And he's a part of that. They've been beaten by some of the better midfields in the comp. We spruke about what it looks like on paper, but I think they're yet to really be consistent against the better sides. That's why they haven't finished in the top. I think Jordan Buts coming and plays a big role. I think Tim English will be there. You played in footy teams, we're not everyone's best mates with the coach. Oh, I was happy to join it, where are we going now? I like that. Alice Declarks, I think you'll see him at the grand final tomorrow.

1:15:14I feel like this is really significant. It's his first public sighting. He's been absolutely shattered, absolutely destroyed by the North Melbourne sacking and some of the comments. So you would think someone like Alice Declarks and would walk into a commentary role. The Fox footy or a Channel 7. I don't know that those offers are there at the moment. And I think Clark, and his camp would feel like that's because of some of the language that was used and some of the narrative. We want someone who can coach a modern game. He will be there on grand final on Saturday. I think the cameras will go to him. And I think there'll be a bit of a reaction from the crowd. A bit of a speech, Sean. Look, I'm a great advocate for Clark Go. And if you go through the family tree of the recent Premiership coaches, talk in the modern game. Well, he bought them all up. So he's not blind. He's not clueless. For mine, he's, yeah, time ended at North Melbourne. Any media channel that wants him, he would be a number one man. Any football club that wants him. He's a star and a bloody good person. Was it a bit harsh? I thought the language was harsh.

1:16:15The decision, I'm not close enough to know what was going on. I just felt like the way he was spoken to was probably a bit harsh, yes. So it comes down to this, you too. Yep. For all the chips, for all the money. Jay, who's winning on Saturday? I got Brisbane by about 12 points. I think it'd be a fabulous game. I think free-manal could make a strong start. I'm looking for free-manal to come out early. And the first quarter, that midfield rock power to take hold. I just trust Brisbane more. And particularly in the second half in the occasion. I've loved the footy that free-manal has played. I can't wait to see Jackson versus Draper. I can't wait to see, you know, Sarong versus Dunkley. I think the matchups are unbelievable. Shy Bolton, it is a shame Bolton. It is all ours on him, Murphy Reed. I've still got just a touch more trust in the experience of Brisbane. Xavier Ellis, who wins and why? Free-manal, 21 points. Who wins and the best team all year? I haven't got their game firing over the finals period. But I just feel like Brisbane are a good matchup.

1:17:16They will let them get momentum at some stage. Give Murphy Reed momentum, Bolton momentum, Jackson momentum. Hayden Young's going to introduce himself to the AFL properly on the grand final day. And Caldwell Sarong's going to take on the Norm Smith. You lose locking Neil out of that midfield. And I think it goes advantage. Free-manal and 21 points. Dun and Dustin, Matt Johnson. Will Cancer Will Ashcroft. Paddy Voss will terrorise Harris Andrews. Game over, 21 points. Makes it sound so simple. This is when reputations are made, right, on the biggest day. Whatever happens on Saturday, you carry with you as a footballer for the rest of your career.
