You might drink it every day, but did you know that the history of tea is steeped in Skolduggery, colonialism and industrial espionage. Offensive line gets a push. How about they run the ball more than they throw it? How about you cater to this kid? You move them out a little bit. You move the pocket some roll outs. Maybe couple design runs. Maybe an RPO or two? The Buccaneers have to put Jalen Daniels in the best position to succeed. They are on it. The clock is ticking. You're 0 and 3. You're desperate for a win. It's time to end this losing streak. You have a vulnerable Packers team coming in here on Sunday, even though your stadium is going to be overrun by fans of the opposing team. Can the Buccaneers block all that out and play a clean game and look prepared and get their first win of the year? Like confidence is not high. Repeat confidence is not high. I hope I'm wrong. Good afternoon, Tampa Bay. Welcome back. 506 on your ride home. The Drive with
yours truly driven by Moss Neson. We're live inside the route. Air and water studios of WD AE. Power locally by my guys over at Ferguson, HVAC. At the bottom of the hour, we'll talk more football. What a great weekend we have here in the Tampa Bay area. Saturday's going to be awesome. You have lightning, capitals, lightning, home opener, a benchmark. You have raised Yankees over at the top game one, ALDS. And then you'll have USF in Tampa over at Rage A. And of course, Sunday Bucks and Packers, but we'll talk USF Tampa with Bulls head coach Brian Hartline. He will join me coming up at the bottom of the hour. You can go go go go. Go Bulls coach. We appreciate you, bud. And we'll talk to you in a few minutes at the bottom of the hour. At the Buccaneers, you know, you heard Zach Robinson there. He met with the media today. You know, he's feeling the pinch to just as Todd Bowles is feeling the pressure.
You know, I have about having, you know, I recop been trying to, you know, stalk him in the parking light after the game, you know, coaches that true. Nanya. I don't know. He, uh, I recop and joined the server today said he went looking for Todd Bowles. He said he found Jason light instead. Is that true, Jason? Nanya. Oh my goodness. The Bucks are up against it. Maybe the practice schedules been revamped a little bit this week. Todd Bowles was not very, open or volunteering any details about what he might have changed. The pads sound like they came on today. By the way, the injury report has been released. And let's see here. What do we got? Yes. There's some good news and bad news. All right. Good news. First, Josiah Trotter was upgraded to a full practice today. So it looks like he will be back. He had the shoulder issue. He missed
last week's game. The Bucks need him. Not that the Packers can run the ball, but you still want, you know, your prime time playmakers in there. So it looks like he's going to be good to go. Co-Keefe hasn't practiced all week because of an elbow. Let's see. Rubin Bane Jr. guys, it looks like he's going to miss another game. He didn't practice again today. He's got a groin and shoulder injury. That's how the Buccaneers listed on the official injury report. Servasi Adenis didn't practice today because of a personal issue. So that doesn't seem to be too serious. Yaya Diabi upgraded to a limited practice. He didn't practice yesterday. Todd Bowles said yesterday looks like he's going to be good to go. He's got a calf and a shoulder issue. So quite a few guys banged up here. Bucky Irving has got a glute injury. A glute. He's been limited this week. Benjamin Morrison was added to the injury report with a
quad issue. Uh oh. He was limited today. Uh oh. Yeah. Uh not show was limited with his ankle and foot deal. Oh Jacob Parrish has some sort of personal issue. He wasn't at practice today for the second straight day. So that's something that bears watching and that's not a good thing. I hopefully Jacob comes back tomorrow because Benjamin Morrison is limited now with a quad issue. You got Zy McCullum who is healthy. But the Packers have two big time receivers. Like Christian Watson and Matthew Golden. I mean, they are guys who can get down the field. They're capable of making big plays. It'll be somewhat of a homecoming for Christian Watson as well. They have Tucker craft too. That's the tight end to sure there. What is the soup to sure? It's the soup of the day. That sounds good. I think I'll have that. Why do you bring up the tie to Tom? Is it like
the opposing tight ends? Have had their way against Todd Bowles's defense? Is that where you're looting to? That's exactly where I'm alluding to. Now not so much last week, TJ Hockinson wasn't very productive. But Tucker craft. I mean, he doesn't have the same kind of explosiveness that he had before the knee injury. But I said against his buck's defense, you know, you have to keep an eye on that guy too. So on my confidence meter, we talked about this at the top. By the way, if you're just joining us, welcome in. It's the drive. Hope you had a great day at work or at school. So we got into this conversation. What is your confidence at the level of confidence? Like the confidence meter, Chris Mathis, I give you credit because you came up with this during these pre-show meeting in terms of like on a scale of one to 10, one being no confidence in a victory on Sunday, 10 meaning of a thousand percent sure that the buck in ears are going to win.
And five is what I have some optimism. Five is like some like, you know, you kind of like in between, you're not sure. You still have some doubts. You're cautiously optimistic. Maybe a five. That's where I'm at. I'm right at five, especially with the good news of Trotter being back. That makes me feel even better about this defense that took a step forward last week with David Walker and Trotter being sidelined. And now you're getting Trotter back. Hopefully he'll be able to make a big time play as he did. And when she had a pick his first ever game in a sack as well. He's a playmaker. There's no question. And getting him back certainly helps. I think David Walker is going to play more. He played what 32 like a little less than a third of the snaps. I think he's going to play more. I think he's probably going to be maybe in the 45 to 50 percent range, probably close to half the snaps. He's got to because Rubin Bain is, it looks like he's not going to play again. I would sure as hell like to know like how he's feeling, what he's
doing, what's going on with him. But again, he hasn't talked in like five weeks. I think I think it's five weeks. Nobody knows where he is. And the fact that he's injured. I mean, the Buccaneers do not make injured players available to the media. But when he was healthy, quote unquote, he wasn't talking anyways. But it feels like the shoulder, which was an injury suffered late in the summer. I think that's been lingering. And now he's got the growing thing. So it's a double whammy. I do not expect to see Rubin Bain on the field Sunday against the Packers. Let's go back to the phones. My confidence level is out of four on a scale of one to 10. Jim is in Tampa. Jim, welcome in. Where's your confidence level? Give me a number. One. Well, well, only because I'm concerned about, I'm concerned about, look, I hope Jalen plays great. And I, but I don't think if Zach doesn't tailor a game plan to what Jalen can do. And instead,
kind of has him run the offense, his offense, then he has no chance. I mean, you can't have this kid doing seven step drops and stuff like that. You have to roll them out. And you know, if you're, if you're going to, you know, we pay seven million for games, well, but you never throw them the ball. Okay. And then you don't give Sean Tucker a sniff. He scored eight touchdowns. And the guy is a is dynamic, especially if you pitch it to him and he goes outside, they give Bucky 15 carries right up the middle. They need to run the ball like you said, T-cras 40 times. Get a lead, get a turnover and just pound them and if they, and, and roll this kid out, have them throw on the run and, and, you know, 20, 25 passes and 40 runs. That would be the perfect game plan. But I don't have the reason I said one is I don't think Zach's going to do that. So anyway, I'll hang up and listen. Hi, I appreciate you, Jim. And look, I, I just think you're being real about it. I mean, that's why I'm
at a four. I don't think I don't think I'm going to pass a four to be quite honest. Five is like, okay, you have some hope, cautious optimism. I think I'm staying at a four. I was at a three. And Chris Vath has had to remind me, of course, because of John Gruden, who may or may not be monitoring this radio station of Thursday to make sure his no negative Thursday mantra exists. It's a no negative Thursday. I get that, John, but you're coming in clear as a bell. I love. Thank you. I'm glad somebody loves it. We're on here. But I also have to give it to you guys straight. I got to give it to you straight. So don't draft it for the agent starting a quarterback and I like the kid. Despite contrary to popular belief out there, actually, it's not popular belief. It's like one knucklehead. You hit him. You're like, dick. Yeah. But dick. It's got Carlos up in Spring Hill Carlos. What's going on up there?
Because how you doing, my friend? How you doing? Great. Terrific. All right. Listen, I want to hear your point of view. What happens if the browns beat the Steelers tonight? Okay. In the box, big green Bay. Do you have a different point of view with the box? You think we're going to we have a good loss. The browns because they're going to be hopefully maybe buying two next week. And we'll be, you know, I mean, I have a good feeling with this new kid. We might, I mean, we're happy we've been winning three games in a row. Wow. That's the Steelers. I would pump up. What happened then? Well, look, I would pump the brakes on that Carlos. And it's an interesting point of view. And I appreciate your call as always. So if the browns, you're telling me like if the browns beat the Steelers, then the bucks losing to the browns is not going to look as bad. Is that what you're saying to me? It's so bad. It's bad. Because in a
lot of ways, you set the browns on this path to semi-respectability by being as bad as you were that day, where the bucks were running it well. And they decided to throw it more than they ran it. And that turned out to be their waterloo, especially coming out of the weather delay. You ran it a couple of times. You still had some time. You still had around 45 seconds left and multiple timeouts. And then Baker was trying to win the game. And they were trying to allow Baker to win the game. Is what it looked like because of the storyline of him against the browns as opposed to, I don't know, let's do something that's been working for us. Boy, oh boy, that was bad. It was bad coaching that day. It was bad. You lost to the browns. And I don't care what happens tonight. I think the Steelers are going to beat them anyways. It's the browns, dude. And that quarterback
hadn't played well in six years. And you allowed him to complete 80% of his passes against you. That's awful. It's good to Oliver and Tampa. Oliver, what's going on? All right. Just bear me out and listen to this. Yesterday, I tried to make a bet on Jalen Daniels offensive rookie at a year. I says, I'll bet maybe a hundred dollars and get 25 yards to one. You know what the odds were for him being defensive rookie of the year or offensive. You know, offensive. You get a year. It's got to be like, I don't know, plus a hundred thousand. It's twenty to one. Wow. Yes. Thank you. So obviously, they think he's going to do good. And, and you know, they have now, who is the other free, uh, free agent quarterback that's one of the
best in the league playing right now. Free agent quarterback, one of the best in the league playing like undrafted free agents. Are you talking about or just yeah, technically not undrafted. He was the last player drafted. So he was technically undrafted. While Brock Perry's, which is, you talk about Brock, Perry, Mr. relevant. Right. Mr. relevant. So we have a Mr. relevant. Brock party is probably one of the top five quarterbacks in the league. You know, Tom Brady, he was on the bench. Nobody knew what they had. He was on the bench. Coach Valicek, the best coach, he wasn't playing his best player. The quarterback had to get hurt and Brady went in and lighted up. I never sat back down again. You see, we don't know what's going to happen. We've got a top five defense top five in scoring top five in everything. I'm going to, I'm going for a thousand dollars on them to win the division. That's what I'm going to do. And you guys got to stop this negative
stuff. I listen to the station all the time. Everybody won everybody fired. Everybody won everything. Let's wait till the end of the season and we're going to do, you know, and we're going to revisit everything. But right now, let's get behind our boys and and and and Rob, Rob, man, let's go. Rob, Rob, that that charge. I like it. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you, Oliver. By the way, just give me a thousand dollars because I will make better use of it than you betting it on the bucket ears to win to make the playoffs. Are you crazy? Please don't do that. I'm asking you not to do that. You sound like a good guy. But from the moment he got on, boy, it was crazy talk. Like Jayland Daniels to be offensive rookie of the year. And now he said he's going to bet a thousand dollars on the bucket ears to make the playoffs. Don't do that. Please. I don't know if you're married or what now your wife is like going to improve. I don't approve of it. Don't do that. He's bringing
up Brock Purdy and Tom Brady. And yeah, look, there are success stories for every Brock Purdy, you know, there's like probably like 50 other guys who are not making it or didn't make it. We're doing something else for a living like construction or retail or door dashing. And let's not forget. Yes, Brock Purdy was the last pick of the draft. Brock Purdy is also coached up by one of the very, very best offensive minds and football in Kyle Shanahan. That matters. I don't know if I see a Kyle Shanahan around here. He used to work here years ago. Sean McVey used to work here years ago with the bucks. Look it up. They were like two boys. You know, hey, I go go fetch me a towel or something. Well, I'm just telling you, Sean McVey, you had to start somewhere and you started here many, many years ago. And I give you a lot of credit.
Boy, oh boy, that was some phone call. And I admire Oliver's optimism. I just don't share in it. What I need, what my primary job, my objective is to give it to you straight. I'm gonna pull any punches. I'm gonna tell like it is. And it's up to you if you want to accept it or not. Here's what I'm gonna tell you, Oliver. I'm gonna tell like it is do not bet $1,000 on the buck in ears to make the playoffs. You will lose that money. I promise you. You want to put that $1,000 to better use. You give it to me. You give it to Mathis. You can always use a few bucks. You know, with the holidays coming around, you know, he's got a wife now. He's got to take care of her or you can donate it to charity. But don't bet it on the bucks because you will lose guaranteed. I'll have what Oliver's having that is. I'm into seven mental areas. Oh, Lord. All right.
We'll take a time out. We'll take more of your calls on the way back. Also on the way back. An incredible sports weekend is awaiting for us here in the Tampa Bay area, especially on Saturday. We know the bucks and the Packers are on Sunday, but on Saturday, you got the lightning home opener at benchmark. You get the raise in the Yankees over at the top game. One of the AODS. Also at Ray J a big one out of the American. Can you SF get the five and no when temple comes into town? We'll talk to their head coach Brian Hartline. He will join me next.
