Let's go to war! I'm here with my coach, the football girl, and we've got a giant, coronal preview week of the four, the two and one giant, both the one and two errors are in the cardinal. It's a legacy game for the New York Giants.

1:01Grump, the last time the Giants were two games above 500 was after their 2022 win against the Colts. And hey, with the Eagles loss, first the Rams and a Giants win, they could be in the sole possession of first place in the NFC's. We'll get into the, you know, the Xs and O's and what the Giants can do in this game, but this is Extremely winnable, right? This is not a take it for granted game. This is not a this is not even the Titans in my opinion, right? Like the Titans we win is like they should win this game But this is extremely winnable for the Giants and they have an opportunity to be three and one We'll see how the rest of the season plays out, but being three and one certainly helps you as you go We were hoping for a fast start to this season Bobby And going three and one is absolutely possible getting sole possession of first place in the NCEs is also very possible by the end of this week and Philly and Dallas have Difficult matchups coming up with the Rams and I think the Texans So yeah, it's it's totally possible. I'm looking forward to it I think the legacy game thing is one of the coolest thing that the Giants do. I think that making it a special event

2:06Is is better than making it your permanent uniform if I have to take the two I hope they keep it as special as they make it and they don't water it down slowly over time the first one was the best I don't know if anybody else was there for the first legacy game They eighties down the whole stadium including the soundtrack and the scoreboard which was rather the Bears game the game Where Daniel Jones and Tyro Taylor got injured in that one. 4:15Which I have a I actually not saying they're amazing. I think but I have a lot of respect for them or The Cardinals defense which I don't have respect for them But the Giants need they the Giants need to play a certain way which one do you want to hit first? I think I think we should start by talking about the offense for the Giants because I think I think scoring points is on everybody's mind Two weeks with no touchdowns. I think people will probably want to know how we can possibly score against this team You're not going to win this game by scoring 14 points I'll say that and I'm glad you said that because that's how I form out of my notes and I didn't want to change that So the Cardinals defense is 24th and points for a game allowed their 29th and E. P.A. per play We'll start with the passing offense for the Giants so the Cardinals passing defense 23rd and passing yours 31st and net yards per attempt 30th and passing like they give up explosives right? They are you know top of the league of giving up explosive plays But for the Giants mindset wise going into this game

5:15It's kind of branches off of our mailbag a little bit And now that this is the second game for James Winston starting We'll see if there's rain. We'll have a weather report here in a little bit But I don't think that's an excuse. I'm not advocating for a pass happy game plan But you can't call a conservative passing offense when you do drop back or you will lose this game Like unless you just have a flat-out dominant run game Which is possible but like when you drop back you got to put the ball in James's hands a little bit more right? Number one it just because the way that Arizona plays and we'll break down but If you just start if you just go and dink and dunk number one James hasn't done that very well and that plays into their hands even if you do do it fairly well do do grump You we've got to put the ball in James's hands and I want to say this is a big picture too is we've talked about When we had to make the switch to James like I how do you approach this when you have 15 games left and at least for one week They went very conservative. They don't want James to turn over They traded for Jason McCarfe this week. I obviously I'm not the biggest fan of JJ

6:18But like we expect him to get in at some point Well now that he's here Let's see what James has to have because you're just gonna bench him if it doesn't work anyway So let's see what let James be the best version of himself Let's see if he can get that explosive passing offense while limiting the turnover It's not eliminating but limiting the thermos because you're gonna you're gonna bench him if it doesn't go well anyways So let's see it don't go you don't they go crazy I think you can limit passing attempts, but don't limit the passing game grump. I Agree man, so the cardinals run a fairly complicated coverage system on the back end with young defensive coordinate or Nick Rollus who survived the firing of Jonathan Ganon They run a like exclusively zone basically and they Second highest rate in the NFL 85% zone coverage. Yeah They drop into a lot of like cover three a lot of cover four and a lot of cover six I also think that the and it's a lot of confusion and a lot of like misalignment at the front and then they drop into these Zone coverages it puts a lot of stress on the linebackers and it puts a lot of stress on communication between a secondary group that I

7:25Think is just okay, and I think going through like the three games that they've had They're good for one major bust in the back in coverage per game And they I mean they got burned by it very early in the Seattle game Jackson spit the jigba They totally screwed up on the right side of the defense there Between the safety in the corner. They both went to the flat and he just kept going So I mean they're good for one screw up like that per week I think also with the amount of you know cover six that they run I think there's gonna be seam shots open for you. There's the middle of the field's gonna be open for business But it's not just you drop back and throw to the middle of the field. It's no it's like hey influence them on one way Get like that's where he's talking about those backside incuts. That's what James is good at put that they're a middle linebacker Mac Wilson He's over aggressive like when you tell him there's someone row global on the ceiling He starts looking up and says where like he is overly aggressive and the stuff now that's that can help them right against the Run game you can get an interception of James is not paying attention closely enough on a concept

8:26So you got to be careful of that but what it means is Because like you mentioned they run cover six which is basically half cover two You know if you're playing mad and cover two then half cover four is that that is a defense that floods the flooding Like you want to put people in a zone and their defense will do that You've got to put some stuff on the backside because it's gonna be there the open the middle the field can be open for business You mentioned they did get a little bit aggressive against the 49ers to and like single high and trying to place a man cover John the outside But like the giant's wide receivers like it's on them this week to win as well too like you know Personnel wise will Johnson's on IR they should have the advantage at every single wide receiver verse cornerback Position you know quarterbacks this year have eight passing touchdowns one interception Against them the one interception was a Justin Herbert 60 are just screw it ball They give up explosive passes 28th in the NFL teams are pushing the ball against them the highest average death of target in the NFL

9:26Like the giant seem to win their matchups, but James has you have to let James play his game again That does not mean 40 dropbacks. It can be 23 24 dropbacks, but when you're doing that given those opportunities and I would say the giants Stop putting James and third down and you want to run the ball But you've got to find a little bit more ball as balance on early downs I'm not I'm not even saying like his first down they have a extremely high run rate the highest in the NFL by wide margin I'm not saying you need to get fully away from that but Second and long Let's let's put let's put the ball in the quarterbacks hands a little bit more Understand that it worries you with like you know putting the ball back on against your defense But put just a little bit more because what's happening is you're getting a third down and That's that's just not fun for a back of quarterback with it. It's like anytime you drop back as third down You know let them get into a rhythm. Let me let them find some outlets Not everything has to be do or do or die and the you know the Cardinals have gotten a little bit aggressive on third down

10:29They did slur some you know exotic looks at the 49ers They were I know I'm getting crazy into like you know tendencies and stuff like they line up their what rushers extremely Why they like the stunt you just don't want to be like they're not very good But third down is where you're kind of playing into their hands Yeah, and they don't generally bring more than four rushers very often They will bring four rushers from exotic places just the same way that Denard Wilson kind of does But it's generally four rushers I would I agree with you on on a lot of things here with this with With James taking shots in this game and I also think after three games This is kind of a good moment to start Breaking off of your tendencies, right? So the linebackers are incredibly active in this defense and they have really complicated Responsibilities because they rotate into zone coverage Post snap like a lot of times they're they're lined up on all his scrimmage whatever Play action can do a ton for this offense in this game They're really active linebackers. They have a ton of responsibility and stress on them

11:32We run the ball a ton like you said on first down. What are we leading the league and runs on first down? Yeah Yeah, I mean there's your play action right there do all your pulling madness with Patrick or Cardon stuff and and throw off of it Yeah, listen I we're gonna get into our run game a little bit like I think the run game can be very successful This could this could end up being camp scottibus best game But it's just when you drop back you got to put the ball in james's hands a little bit more and a challenge for the jenius receivers Mm-hmm. This is a bad cornerback group, right? You know, it's dare Williams, you know, Max mountains probably their best one um Denzel Burke, uh, you know, like he's been awful like you know because will Johnson's been on IR like Every single one Malik neighbors Malikai feels darn Elmooney you all should be able to win your one-on-ones And Isaiah likely right like bootabaker's not really playing man coverage or whatever So it's not like you have that like a one-on-one matchup I know there was a stat going around about like bootabaker coverage stats and I think that's a example of like while you don't look at safety coverage stats are passurating too much

12:34But like Isaiah likely you could find him in the male Lafielse whether it's finding Malik neighbors on backside in cuts Finding Isaiah likely on the front side of stuff the middle of the field is open for business And if it's not and if they game playing against the giants playing the middle of the field Then we need to win our one-on-ones on the outside. There's no excuse for our receivers to not win one-on-ones this week Yeah, and I think that they might over commit to take things away in this defense Especially if it's a halftime adjustment And I think that there has to be some level of take what they give you at that point because it seems to be that way as I go through the games like The second half of games they're kind of adjusting what they're doing and leaving something else wide open some good teams can find that I'm not exactly sure what that's going to be But it might be something to the flats or just outroutes or something depending on whatever coverage they rotate into but They're willing weaknesses and again Mac Wilson their middle line becker. He's overly aggressive Like so that can get you in trouble You don't want that there be a James Winston interception But what that can lead to is big explosive plays throughout the middle of the field

13:37Getting into the James rushing offense versus their rushing defense. They're 26 and rushing defense 24th in the arms for carry um They get into these wide alignments right so it's can leave them vulnerable But they are aggressive right like they're looking to get run stops and tackles for loss. I have 14 tackles for loss in three games You know, they let their defense align and you know jumped apps. They're looking to get up field so The James have done a good job of like playing against that and staying on schedule Make them pay a little bit, you know, make them make them pay a little bit because you know We've been good at avoiding those negative runs This is not a team that has like we're finally playing a team that isn't just loaded at defense attack Or you're the Titans of Jeffrey Simmons You know Aaron Donald and Kobe Turner against the Rams and then Kenny Clark and Quillen Williams a week one Which probably the weakest matchup they've gotten was those two guys Um and not to say that they're terrible. I forget. I forgot the right is named down number 55 Like he's a decent player. You have Walter Nolan who was you know limited in practice, but like

14:42You can run the ball in this game and maybe this is a this is the first game where the giant rushing offense isn't just on schedule and avoiding negatives But Let's you know what let's average five yards of pop like it's not impossible to do that and you know what I've I figured out This is a big cam scataboo game Arizona the state of Arizona loves cam scataboo right he is a big talk of their week as they love cam scataboo So you know scataboo is gonna want to go off in this game Najee can you know can do what he does This this should be a big run like The giants if they're gonna have a game where the run game is just awesome and not just like oh They this is the way they play ball control. They avoid negatives. They're physical. This could be it against the Cardinals Yeah, I agree. I think I think the defensive line group for Arizona is not very good You know Josh sweat is certainly somebody to worry about you mentioned Dante stills by by number number 50. Yeah, don't they stills

15:43The two guys in the middle Walter Nolan and Roy Lopez are not very impressive. They're also both hurt They're both limited in practice this week with a groin and a shoulder respectively or I think now maybe revert I don't it doesn't matter um I think a lot of what Arizona does to mitigate that is they they really do have a lot of guys up at the line of scrimmage Sort of at the start of the snap and they'll rotate out of it and I think Like we were saying before if you start with play action and soften them up and make them play coverage first early in the game I Conf I think that Najee Harris and Kim scataboo can blast their way through the middle after that Get the get everyone playing off the line of scrimmage and then hit them with that You know if you force them to have to play the past you can really let them batter their way through and I think the opportunities are there But I think if you start the game to run heavy. I mean they like to have Corners right up on the line of scrimmage if we run tight splits They're gonna be right there on like right at the end of the line. So I think the opportunities there if we can soften them up from coverage first Yeah, and we've given a lot of flowers to Greg Roman and his run game

16:46I mean side to see what he has for this cardinals team like I like I did let this be the game I'm really excited to see what he has skamed up for this cardinals Defense you do you have anything else on the cardinals defense before we switch over Uh, no not really. Let's let's look at the comments Let's talk about the uh The Cardinals office because I had this it's not amazing for their 21 points for game They're 18th in the NFL and scoring 12th and e-paper play I actually pretty low on the yards per play But I have respect for this Cardinals offense and but in both the past and the run like I don't think passing wise. I think they are what they are run game I think they have a lot more potential than what they are We'll start with the passing game Jacobi brosette is playing with a lot of confidence right now. He's completing 70% of his passes

19:50He's seeing the quick game very well. He's accurate And he has a lot of trust in his targets and the offense now They're not playing this super aggressive right there are third lows and average def a target time to throw started They're getting the ball out Quickly they're getting the ball out usually to you know shorter targets But they have the fifth most passing attempts in the NFL and I was shocked to look at this Tramick bride and Michael Wilson are fourth and fifth in the NFL in targets You know Tramick bride third and catch is 18th in yards Wilson's 10th and receptions and 30th 30 yards so it's not saying they're Top of the NFL in yardage, but like they're getting targeted a lot and there's a lot of trust like with Michael Wilson like Tramick bros Tramick broselson Tied in one. I know me and you loved him back in the draft stuff and You he just wins right like you get no matter what you're doing he wins He's great to catch point, you know He routes guys up super well. So that's normal Michael Wilson

20:54There's just so much trust that Jacobi brosette has with Michael Wilson We're Tramick bros you're gonna get the trust from any quarterback Because Michael Wilson he's big bodied, but he's snappy speaking or drafts up You remember his senior but we loved him down in mobile out of Alabama and Teams will cheat their leverage like for example. Let's say Michael Wilson's running an out route They will have a corner with off coverage and and cheating way outside and that corner won't even bite on like a headfaker or anything and Wilson will break out and For sets got the ball out of his hands and like they're there's a lot of trust on that stuff and with his size and that Snappiness that quickness that he has like he's been able to make Plays again, it hasn't been like we said it's 33rd in yards 10th and catch So there's not like he's been dominant but like he's been good and he's been a big reason why their Completion rate is so high so like Tramick bros you got to worry about him, but I wonder if Greg knew some travels with Michael Wilson Because he just played just one side the first two weeks He played about 50 50 last week

21:56Whether it's Colton Hood or if Deont they banks comes back Newsom has been nice and physical he hasn't been great But like he's been physical. He's been in the hip pocket of receivers where the other guys get sauce a little bit more I almost want Greg Newsom traveling with Michael Wilson this week, bro They've been playing more man lately geez. I clicked something in an ad played very loudly in my ears It's yeah, that's another thing. That's a we could do a mailbag But to Nard Wilson went from no man coverage to now like that's his most used covers now Well, I mean, it's it's only three games into the season and we're having to deal with the quarterback stuff So we'll see but yeah, I think it's possible and it's it's pretty clear that They've been trying to get the ball to Michael Wilson They struggled with it early on in the season and they they made a concerted effort to put it in his hands Through the ball 52 times last week against the Niners I think what's really dangerous about this team is their ability to just Be perfectly comfortable throwing it 50 times or be perfectly comfortable running it 50 times and and you know

23:00You mentioned Tray McGride. I absolutely loved him. I still I think he's the best tight end football He's a serious problem no matter where he lines up Michael Wilson's another problem Even if they kind of do what they can to mitigate those two The other thing is they still have Marvon Harrison on the backside who's clearly fallen down the depth sharper He's still another option. They still have Kendrick born That's another really good option for them So like and Jacobi percent like you said he's playing very comfortable right now He's very comfortable taking what's given to him He's very comfortable getting the ball out quickly and confidently and just zipping them in there So I don't think he's gonna care if it's not Tray McBride or Michael Wilson either so yeah I think I'd like Greg Newsom to follow him but I'm Those are the two guys, but they can't just slack on the other weapons that Arizona has because bursets very comfortable right now Yeah, yeah, like again, he he looks solid and again They they've also they haven't hit it big yet But there is a concerted effort to get Jeremiah love involved in the back of it and not just swing passes

24:04You know like they're using one angle routes like they're they're actually trying to get him involved and he'll catch the passes It's just he's they've been covered fairly well um And you know love is I know every first round running back which if you want to Jeff I want it running back in the first round just say I think this guy's gonna add explosive Uh, we don't into this ain't all they're actually wide they're actually a wide receiver No, he's a running back who catches passes, but love is very good at the receiving part of the game like he can actually run around and win leverage and stuff um And like I said the there are often some lines not very good pairs Johnson is good. He's not and and fallible But he's good They're right tackle not so great. The real struggle is their center and right guard those guys are terrible but the thing is is that There's six best and sack right so because they get the ball out quick right and the giants get the ball thrown at them the quickest rate in the NFL So that's probably not going to change this week The giants also have no interior rush so this may be their best week of pass rush, but it's not going to be like oh man our defensive tackles

25:08You know two quarterback hits and three but I guess just not gonna happen with this group unless it's just a crazy one off um And like all other issues are like stunt pickups and stuff and blitzing and I you know it's like you're gonna see that But I think for sets it's gonna get the ball out here's where I'll say Shelby Harris mr. Path's breakup get your hands up this game balls coming out quick I am guaranteeing a Shelby Harris gets his hands on the football in this game That is a Bobby Skinner guarantee Shelby Harris do not let me down. I am I'm relying on you But when it happens I want everybody to tweet Bobby Skinner called the Shelby Harris pass break up Yeah, I have in my notes hands up and passing lanes uh It's it's a thing that happened in every single game so far this year they get the ball out too fast for anyone to get there Just get your hands up just put your hands up if you're not getting anywhere near there. There's a good chance that you'll hit the ball um But you're fucking hands up That you said the right side of the line is definitely the bigger issue for there is on a cardinals

26:12Like to run to the left too um I'm not really sure that that I think that that's gonna matter more on running down so with the pass rush You know, I think I think guys just have to win You know, I'm not really sure that it matters to much like overloading one thing they get the ball It's so fast that committing resources to trying to like overload one side and Denard Wilson did a lot of really cool stuff last week Where he was russian drew phillips on a blitz between our val Reese on the outside and abdual Carter Which putting those three guys going after the quarterback I love it But cam ward stands in the pocket should Kobe brisket gets rid of the ball So I'm not and again, you know we we talked about all the man coverage that they ran last week There's a good chance that that was simply because the conditions they felt comfortable where it's just like I'm gonna have to See cam ward thread a needle in man coverage before I'm worried about it enough to move off of it But I do think with the offense like the cardinals where they don't really press the ball deep too often You can show cover two and rotate into cover one man if you want to just you know

27:16I wouldn't advertise that deep is open, but I think you can play a little fast and loose Yeah, and and percent percent smart with this stuff man like yes, you're not gonna He's not pushing the ball like crazy like he's just not he's not pushing the ball all really So it's just like a lot of these like You know crazy blitz looks and covers rotations They're just not overly Effective against Jacobi brisket so it's really about limiting them, but we got to talk about their run game This is where They're 25th and running rushing to 3.6 yards for care of the 26 so you just look at that and say they're a bad run team But I do I think they have a lot of potential Because I really do like Jeremiah so they run duo 40% of time that's the fourth highest rate in the NFL and what does duo it's basically And teams the way they do it now is they basically put three tight ends on the line of the scrimmage And you're creating as many double teams as possible So you have eight guys on the line of scrimmage

28:17You're basically creating three double teams and then the guys on the outside usually have one of ones And then you're pushing to the linebacker and you're running back is pressing the a gap Extremely fast if the lot if the linebacker fills aggressively you bounce it if he doesn't you just hit that a gap Jeremiah love is perfect for that type of scheme because of how smooth he is because he can bounce it so well And he's quick in his changes direction is so good The Rams had a lot of success against the giants more so at the end of the game, but still Our velle Reese has to be ready right? Tremaine edmunds is not going to be the overly aggressive. He's not going to be out of place Our velle Reese needs to be aggressive in this game in the run because what happens is the Rams just kind of gotten to his lap And they they had those runs at the end and level making pay more The biggest difference though the Rams Just like the passing in their center and guard suck And DJ reader Kim kicks him ass this week like DJ reader can be a ass kicker of this game and blow up their run a little bit

29:18It's been a reason why their run game has struggled so much but I do I do worry that they'll find a lot of success against the giant who are basically bottom five in every russian statistic Yeah, I mean if you're if you're Arizona if you're Mike Laflore and you go into this game You have a weak giant's defensive line and a weak secondary Uh And you have Jeremiah love Where you attacking I'm attacking I'm attacking with the run game first That's kind of the way that I would look at this if I were Arizona I think that that's the way it would do it I want to put the ball in Jeremiah loves hands. He's dangerous. I mean, I mean, I'm I'm a little I think that we can contain Jeremiah love with DJ reader our velle Reese Tremaine edmunds are playing very well right now Shelby Harris is playing decently well I'm I'm so far pretty happy with the way the run game has played with those two guys When the subs come on the field it's a different story, but it is what it is well and but I am worried about like getting down to the wire like we did against the Rams and and you know

30:22Other things like running post-wheel with Jeremiah love or something like that He is definitely the guy that I'm the most worried about yeah, and now they were we're talking about our recent I want this goes to the passing game Michael flow is gonna attack our bowries in the past me. He's gonna see if he's making like even our Vowries had a awesome game in week three Um, and you had that great covers play on wander off like that was good.
