We got everything you need on the podcast that prepares you for kickoff at 1 p.m. over in New York, my life stadium. Browns try to go to 4 and 1. Let's get started with
the game day podcast right now presented by fandall sports book. What's up and welcome in everybody. It is October 11th Sunday. Beautiful setup. Well, a lot of rain some places. We won't call it beautiful, but it's a beautiful opportunity, Brad. As the Browns try to get to 4 and 1. What's up, buddy? I am excited, man. I'm fired up. I cannot get more fired up. The vibes for Cleveland in general right now could not be any higher. Beautiful game last night. Honestly, a game that started to late and ended to late and knocked out our opportunity to get a podcast on, but I couldn't miss a pitch. And then I was too tired to get out of bed last night to walk downstairs and record. But the guardians win to nothing. Jose Ramirez finally getting his opportunity to shine great game from the pitching staff. Gavin,
all the boys got the job done. It was great. Love. Yeah, man. Love. I got record. High intensity high leverage baseball, nothing like it. They go on now for a seven game series with the raise where anything can happen that much is true. You recall back in 2016, that was a blue J-steam that was supposed to be the Indians at the time. Anything can happen, man. I'm very excited to see what they can do. A quick turnaround. They'll be on Monday night. So hopefully the Browns can bridge the gap between Saturday with a Sunday win, maybe a Monday game one win. We'll see. But fun stuff from the guardians. And unlike local radio, we won't make you pick between a Browns win and a Guardians win. So yeah, you're safe. Yeah, you're good. One last comment on that the schedule for the ALCS is quick. Man, compared to last year. So it's every day except for travel
day. So this sector will be done by the 20th. Yeah, it's going to be 11th today. Yeah. Unlike it feel like the five game series kind of dragged out a little bit. But this one will be quick because of seven games and trying to get them all, trying to get them all done. So yeah, really Wednesday is the only off day. It literally rolls through Wednesday and then maybe Sunday for a travel as well. So this thing is going to go and it's going to test, test pitching depth very much. So can't wait. We'll be ready for it. As for today, we got a 1 o'clock kickoff. You got some London action early, Jags Eagles. So that can occupy your morning until the 1 o'clock kickoff. But this one is not the most primary CBS crew, but I still like Andrew Catalon and what they're doing. So we get this one, which should be a CBS game. But yeah, like
go ahead, Brad, there's some crew that they're with. This will be our first time with Catalon, I think this year, right? Yeah, first time this year, Ton CBS, it's, if it's on CBS, if it's just FYI, it means it's on paramount as well for those of you that have that. And then Andrew Catalon, Logan Ryan, AJ Ross on the sideline. So there you go. That's what you're looking at. And then, of course, you can always get the Browns radio side of things with Sicilyano and the great Zagura. Yeah, get that if you'd like. There's a slew of game, 1 o'clock slates busy. But obviously, you can find this locally. You can find it nationally. It won't be hard. There's a pretty good map of the state getting this game. We do have some weather, as we mentioned. It was not as bad as I thought it was going to be in Alabama, Georgia last night, which was nice, still rainy, but not as bad.
This one's going to have, I don't know how much rain it's going to rain though through most of the game. I don't know the frequency of it. And it's also a turf field. So some of that comes into play. It's not going to be a mud bowl or anything, but it's still going to be windy seven to 12 miles per hour consistently with gust that could get into the mid 20s. We're reading here, but about 60 degrees that kick off and should hover the same Brad, but it looks like it's going to be a wet one. Yeah, 84% chance rain has started at one. Basically, the conditions throughout the game, I mean, you know, expected wind around like say around 10 with gusts almost up to 30 remnants of tropical storm. I don't know how you say this. I was calling it Isaiah. I've heard people pronounce it something else. Anyways, our is the reason for all this, but it's shaping up certainly to be a somewhat significant
weather game, Jay, with the rain and wind coming down. I don't think I'm prohibit. necessarily the passing game too much, but pick your spot. You can't get crazy with it and ball security will be major. It will be. It will be for sure. The Browns Jets. We're talking about that. Just a minute Browns Jets all time 1615. Pretty damn even split. First match up in 1970. Got together five times in the 70s. A handful of times in the 80s, maybe eight or so. Three in the 90s before the Browns come back. First get together in 02. Browns win that game against the Jets in 02. Then they got together 0406. So 710 1315 1617 1819 22 22 23 and 25. They get together a lot because of the way the NFL structure is unfortunately, the Browns and Jets have found each other at the bottom of this division far. They're a respective divisions far too often. But it's not an
overwhelmingly long history because the 70s and 80s, there was nothing in the 50s and 60s and all of that. So you didn't get a lot of those early early matchups. But Browns were hot out of the gate. One, the first six games, two of which were in overtime in the 70s. Browns went through a rough stretch from 2013 when the Jets were a better football team to 2017. They lost four in a row. Those are the two biggest streaks here. However, the Jets have won three of the last four matchups here. The Browns beat them to get to the playoffs, the secure playoffs spot in 2023. But they lost in 2020 in that game. If you recall where they went to New York late in the year with a bunch of COVID situations arise. Like the wide receiver room was depleted. Yeah. They lost that game. Then they lost the nightmare of Flacco come back in year 1231, 30 the next year, or sorry, in 2022. 22. We know they got it done against the 2023 version of the Jets,
which I would call was a Trevor Simeon starting that game. Ronnie Hickman had a pick six in that one. There was Jerome Ford big play up the left side. Like really fun night up and Cleveland night game. Great night. Yeah. And then last year's battle of the mid battle of the bad as the Jets ended up winning. And if I recall the Browns had a bunch of turnovers in this game that pretty much handy. Yeah. The Jets threw for 42 yards. It was kind of kind of similar weather last year. I remember it being windy and rainy for that game where like neither team threw it very well. Dylan Gabriel started the game. But the Jets threw for 42 yards ran for 127. The Browns outrushed them and out passed them significantly and they ended up losing this game. It was it was really rough. I don't remember like I don't remember how I think what did they return a punt. I'm trying to remember how they scored. Because the Browns yeah, they were like yeah, they returned that's right. Okay. So it was a kickoff return. They allowed 99 yard kickoff return. Shout out,
Bobu and Trone. And then in the same quarter, the first quarter they added a 74 yard punt return touchdown allowed. That'll come to believe that will cost you a game. A brief off 42 yard touchdown late. Fourth quarter, excuse me early in the fourth quarter was counted for 42 of the passing yards they had on the day is the difference because they scored that one offensive touchdown kick some fuel goals. And that was it unreal. There's actually, you know, as we kind of peruse these games, this pretty rich history in the recent years. Going back to 2018 with the Baker break the fridge is open and Epic game against the jets on Thursday night football. I believe right. Correct. Yep. And then one will never forget 2023 is one will never forget 2022 is one will never forget because of the heartbreak. How do you give up that lead? Most people leaving the stadium
with thinking the Browns one. To see that they will they blew it right. There's just kind of a lot of meaningful games with this jets team over the past 10 years. It's also the single playoff game following the 86 season that really fun Browns home playoff win over time win. Um kind of stands out again like the only one that Browns just kind of dominated this game in the same fact. They had 558 yards that day Brad 33 first downs to 14. Yeah. Going into overtime because of a couple burning through a couple picks. Beuse 33 of 64 for 489 that touched down in two interceptions in that game Brad. Browns had nine sacks and had to scrape together a late victory in that one man Ozzie had six for 114 Webster slaughter at six for 86. Herman Fountain had five for 62 Kevin Mac. They threw it all over the place. It's kind of crazy. They just couldn't find their way into the end zone up. But they did win in overtime. And that remains the only playoff game between the two sides. All right. Today's
injury report Mason Graham, Mike Hall, Kalea Davis, Tevin Jenkins, Dylan Gabriel Carson, Ryan and Tylin Wallace all out for the Jets ruled out already. Breeze Hall, AD Mitchell, Dylan, Parham, a part of the offensive line there and then Kiko Maui Noah is out questionable for Will McDonnell. We'll see what comes of that Kingsley and neighboring Tim Patrick. And then for the Brown side grant up Elton Jenkins looks like he's going to be back. McKay Black one's going to be back to the line at this point. It had been two and a half. I looked this morning as we were putting our parlay together and it's back to one and a half. So that's moved back in the opposite direction. But it still has remained at a 39 and a half total over underline at this point. So that's still weird. Still weird line to me. Statistically, if you look at these times, these teams Jake, they are very even statistically despite a, you know, polar opposite win loss record. So the only major difference
statistically like as far as like offense is that the turnover ratio, the Jets are plus three at Brown's minus one. That lingers. We'll talk just a second about what the Sean Watson's done in the rain because that's an important part of traditionally. He was a dome quarterback and he's missed so much time, right? So we'll talk through that real quick. The parlay we got, we got a, we got a six leg parlay for week five, Brad. It's all modest based on these two teams haven't run it that well. This started the year, but maybe they will today. I'm not sure, but I think when you're in the rain, teams prepare for the run. So we wanted to put together guys who are going to catch the football in the short portions of the field. So give us this one. We'll go through one by one and it starts with the two Browns running backs. Yeah. So we've got, we've got Reheum Sanders two receptions, which I like a ton screen game for him. Get more and even more involved. Sometimes Jake,
he's been good, really good for them in the past few weeks. I agree. And 15 receiving yards for Jenkins feels very doable on a day where the Jesse will be in a lot of zone and there'll be, it seems like there'll be some opportunities for check downs or screens and whatnot to get Jenkins involved. There's an extension of the Ryan game in the weather. We've got Boston 40 plus yards. We do. That's our big risk, but I think he's, he's just prone to getting the football and make it. How's that happen? I agree. And then I've got, or we've got Canyon Sedic over 29 and a half yards. So basically 30 yards receiving. He's been a big part of their offense kind of hot and cold. Did have a hundred yard game. This just feels like a game where
in the quick game in their attempt to get the ball out of you know, saying quickly he gets some touches. They have a lot of tight ends though. It's the only thing. What else, Jake? You know, at the last two there. Yeah, I think Williams 23 and a half receiving yards given their down in some, you know, situations where they're heard AD and. AD mothers. He's, he had a big week last week. He kind of hovers around. I think he'll be a part of what they do trying to throw it today. So he's a part of it. And then Harold fan and we just hard not to trust Harold fan and to get to 25 yards. You just, you just, you just, you know, so that's the parlay. We've got plus 17 20 odd 17 to one odds on this. So we're going to win 172 bucks. There's also some really great fan dole boosts out there as well. All right. So, well, this could be the week. Don't miss it. Some of us don't miss it. All right. So Dishon Watson and the weather. I think that's a little anecdote. And then we'll talk about what the Browns have to do to win this thing based on your research grad.
Yeah, this the weather games are really intriguing as you go back and it's kind of a more recent history. But you can start in 2020 when he was with the Texans and he comes to Cleveland. If for what was a terrible weather day. As a Texan against the Browns. Very rainy, very windy. Yeah, that one. I thought he played much fairly well in that game too. Yes. 20, 30, 163, one touchdown zero interceptions. I'm just gonna let him run at all. No. They've got the Ravens game in 22, which was a cold cold December game 18, 28, 661 yards. Jake, one touchdown zero interceptions. 13 nothing.
And that one. And then versus the bangles in 23. I don't remember this. Game is this weather against the bangles 24 to nothing. That's the opener. That was the we're just like raining just over top of Cleveland that day. It was like right around the lake. It would just knock up all day rain. Not as cold. But like, yeah, I didn't associate weather with that game. That's the pick six. Denzel game. Right. So no, I did. It was in Cleveland. So I don't remember. Maybe he did. I don't remember him having a pick six in that game. I just remember Watson running one in over the left side. Like early in that game. But it was like when miles got after burrow late with that big kind of iconic sack photo he had. Yeah, they ran it pretty well in that game. Maybe they can have a different year. What I remember Denzel picking off burrow at the goal line was down in Cincinnati. Okay. I got the wrong year. I apologize. It's early recording folks. We're not.
Very, you know, this one kind of more parallel, not so much cold, but the severe wind and rain of the December, you know, was Christmas Eve game against the Saints in 22. He was 15 to 31, 135 yards. He would have done one interception and all and the browns lost. Okay. So those are just some recent relevance. I think, you know, games that stand out because of the wind in the rain now. Some of those are going to be lesser because it's not as cold. It's going to be a ball. He's 60 degrees. Right. So that is much less of a factor. I don't know. Major takeaways from him in the rain. He hasn't been terrible. But he's had his moments where he struggled overall, not too bad, though, in the weather.
You would have kind of come in thinking he was worse. I think he's accustomed to the rain from where he grew up and where he played at Clemson. Rain was a part of the cold weather. I think is different. That's different for a lot of guys that are born down south and play football down south and obviously playing in the dome in Houston was a different throwing time. But it's nothing that I don't think he should be somewhat accustomed to. I think it's like 150 yard passing yard type of game. So, you know, you lean on a couple players. I think that they're going to handle the lower portion of the field for him. So I feel confident in that. It's kind of the same on the jet side. They haven't run it very well. I'm sure they will be trying their best to run it well today. But ultimately, Gino is going to have to sling the pill around. And just because the football is just because it's raining doesn't mean the NFL the way they shuffle footballs and then out doesn't mean you can't throw it. Now catching it is a different thing. We'll see if guys are able to hang on to it. We'll see what the rain persistence looks like in terms of well, I should say more of the volume of it's raining a ton versus just like a slight drizzle all day.
That's a little different. But that's the take that. Yeah. Yeah. I am very proud of it. Big special anytime you play these games against teams that are kind of in the same mold, right? And last year we're talking about this as an example. It's winning special teams. Can you keep that in that neutral or win it? I think that's a huge part of it. The Browns did not do that last year. And then can they take care of the football take care of the football creation turnovers. Jets hadn't had an interception like 17 18 games. Maybe more. They got their first one last week, I think. Yeah, against tightest agent. So they got a really focus on taking care of the football today. Play it's going to be an ugly game. I expect a field position battle. I feel relatively comfortable in the under on this one. But I think you're going to get two teams trying to take care of the football really well, trying to play the punting game, play the kicking game and and try to try to work it that way. But you just don't want to be a team that hands this game away because of the elements. That's the thing you got to fight against. And I think the Browns will probably have that hammered into their head about that exact point going into this one about how that happened. So yeah.
The other things that I would just hope they are, you know, munkin is highlighted is that they are underdog. So if they're not reading, you know, all the flowery pieces and specials that on the national media was doing about this team all week long. And more focused on the fact that they are an underdog in New York against the Jets team that is one in three. And obviously, Watson's, you know, performance is going to be critical here again. He six touchdowns, the two interceptions that interception number could be wildly different based on a couple of weeks. Jay can't put the Vaughan Harmes way today, which he did a much better job of last week. I agree. Hopefully he can keep it moving in the right direction. They can play
another strong fourth quarter. I think overall, this is a team they should beat. But the NFL, it's still early in the season and you never know what you're going to get every Sunday. But let's hope the Browns put together a good performance on the road. That would be really nice for them to continue the trend that they have, especially late in these games. Hopefully they can avoid some of that first quarter struggle they've had, right? They haven't scored 80 points on an opening drive yet. So it'd be nice to see them break that up a little bit. All right. So we will be live after the game for 30 as usual. Enjoy your morning, my people. We have a game day opening drive that will come out this morning as well. If you'd like a little more reading on this, otherwise you should feel fully prepared for Browns. Jets, one o'clock kickoff. Let's see if these boys can get for and won. Thanks for stopping by. Appreciate you much. You guys know this for Brad and I. We'll catch you after the game. Until then, go Brown.
