1:30:01Vic Fangio doesn't believe there's probably four quarterbacks in pro football that could take him on a 10 play drive with two minutes left in the game with one timeout and beat him. 90% of the time, Vic's winning that game. 90% of the time. Vic's going to win that ball game. They'd be higher. Because there's probably four guys that could take a game winning drive down to feel with a timeout and win a ball game. Or put you in a field position to win. I mean, very few dudes. And like my old coach said, Jimmy Johnson, it wasn't about the spectacular play. The shitty plays would get you beat. Drink, May, can play great. All game long. Have one bad play, games over.

1:31:04That's the story with Josh Allen. Nine fabulous plays to a shitty plays, games over, you lose. That's not happening. Sales do unscouted looks get game plan. Yeah, what they're called, they put those in like, they put those like on the like, what they'll do is they'll give you their top 20. Here, they'll give you a book and a lot of a book on Wednesday. You get handed a book on your game plan. Now it's probably tablet. We used to get a folder and it would be the top 25 plays that they've run the last three games. And there'd be their percentages out of what set brown set black set. What hash mark. And it all goes down the line there and you're looking at the percentages.

1:32:05So when you're out there, your linebacker, your mic backer will go, hey, be cognizant. They like to run that, that lead play here off the left hash. They ran that thing 28% of the time on third and four. And the mic linebacker has to be like the guy that sets your defense. So when the play comes in and the guy with the green dot, Vic is like this. He'll go, all right, base. Base, you're on to 35 to start the drive. What do they like to do first quarter to start the drive and what have they done the last three games and what have they done against common opponents and what are they doing the last game against you. Majority of the time they're going to run the football. And so 72% of the time on first down, they run the ball. So be looking for run place. You know how you look for that? You look for splits. If you look for big splits, tight splits, tight splits could be a pass play.

1:33:05Could be a setup for play action. Hey, dude, they just don't go out there and play football. It's strategically done. Teams attack every fucking play with a purpose. Like with a purpose, there's a purpose for every play and every position and every player in this play offensively more so than defensively. Sales about the blow is top and say, Jimmy, Jimmy Christmas, big sales can only take so much of low brain sell comments. Sales is dropping knowledge. You might just learn something if you listen. They can't listen because they think they know what they're fucking watching and they don't. I mean, what was the reason you think that the bears were so successful last year in running the ball? I'll tell you one thing, DFW, that guy Ben Johnson, you know what he can sniff out?

1:34:11Weakness. And he uses the Bella check tree of knowledge. Where on the football team is the weakest part of VIX defense. Right now, it's his run defense. And guess where else? There are a little soft in his own in passing in the middle of the field. And I think that's Campbell. Campbell's knowledge is now where near what Nicobie's was. I'm not telling you that Campbell's not a good player. Campbell hasn't had the reps. That will only get better with reps. I mean, this game's going to be more, this game's going to be more of a battle than you think on Monday. I'm not telling you the Eagles aren't going to win that game. But I am telling you this, you better be ready and bring your lunchpale and your minors cap

1:35:12because you're going to have to go to work because Ben Johnson can coach. He can fucking flat out coach. All right. Here, I'll tell you what, where I want to start with Big Z here first before we bring them up. So let me go over here and let me bring this up. So heading into the, get this. Chicago has the big name on the injury list. Eagles have a longer list. It's Big Z be gotter, shiply, Smith, Barkley, Carter, Bernard, Makuba, and Steen. I'm not telling you these guys ain't playing. I'm telling you're heading into that game. Eight quarters in. I mean, very uncharacteristic of the Philadelphia Eagles to be banged up at the beginning of a football season.

1:36:17All right. Without further ado, our friend, you get an extra day too, by the way, because Monday night we'll see what happens in Chicago. By the way, Mike North will join us at 430. He is our friend, Big Z, Zander Krause. How you doing, bro? What's up, sales? How you doing, brother? What do you make it at? In fact, man, we've got a pretty long list of dudes. Yeah, I mean, it's going to be our heading into that Monday night game. Yeah, I mean, look, this is maybe the injuries will be a more of a thing. The Eagles have been really lucky with how healthy they've been in the injury front, you know, in recent years. So the list is there. I think the positive part of it is there's nothing real long term yet. It's not like we've had guys go out for the year, but people are banged up early in this year. So everybody's got to try and stay healthy here. And, you know, it's definitely, it's definitely something to keep an eye on for sure. It's landed in long term, you think? I think land might be long term. I think land will be probably six weeks minimum. And there's the chance to me that that thing could go longer.

1:37:19I don't know. I mean, I don't want to call land in like a liar. I'm not saying he's a liar. No, I'm just not optimistic that when the knee bruise is healed, which is kind of the thing that they use for week one, when that's healed, I don't know that he's going to be the same player. I mean, we didn't know he was going to be the same player before we saw the knee bruise or before we had the knee bruise. So I got to see kind of what's going on with land in on it. But I would say he's probably the one that's long term. Yeah. Okay, how about this? Why I'm going to ask you, is he? Why can't they perform on first and second down as an offensive unit heading into or coming out of these first two weeks? Why do you think they're struggling? Well, I think they have a real emphasis right now in trying to run the ball in early downs. And it's just not working right now for whatever reason. I think the offensive line, probably the number one part of that, Sequan Barkley is probably a small part of it, although it didn't really work when he went to the bench either, just 2.8 of Kerry for tank bakes, maybe or 2.5 of Kerry, excuse me. So, you know, I think they're trying to run the ball sales and it's not working.

1:38:22The offensive line is not the dominant self. I think they're trying to adapt to this scheme. And, you know, I was saying earlier this morning, I wonder if it's almost been like a negative for even guys like Lane Johnson until I take help. You know, because he's been, he's lived so much of his career of being an all-protackle on an island. And sometimes people operate better on an island, you know, and they operate better by themselves. It's like a solo project or a group project. And, you know, maybe that's part of it as well, but they have not had a good start to the year. And this is where I'm like, I don't get PFF. PFF has the Eagles offensive line right now. Great. It's fourth in the NFL. And what? In past protection, right? But overall, they had fourth. The fourth graded offensive line. Like, what? Like, they're not like anybody who's watched an Eagles game. But, anyway, I digress on that. So, I think that's the problem with the early downs. And I think what they have to do so is, I think they need to play more free from a play calling standpoint. Like, they, they, and I understand why.

1:39:23At last year, they struggled so much. They got behind the sticks. And now it feels like there's this over emphasis on, just get four yards on first down. And in a way, if you think about it, it's plain scared. Because you should have the confidence in your group to run whatever you feel as though you want to run. And if it doesn't go well, you can get out of that situation. In other words, I'm not optimizing to not play in third and long. I'm optimizing to play good offense. If we don't execute, then we're going to have some third and long situations. But I don't like to play from a fear standpoint. Because it's, is it causes or fear? Is it just more? I think it's a little bit of both. Okay. I think it's a little bit of fear too. I mean, like, like what I'm saying is, you got to, you got players and offense. Custom. You don't need to run the ball every time on first down. So you can get your four yards. You can stay ahead of the sticks. Obviously, you want to, from a macro perspective, stay ahead of the sticks.

1:40:24But play offense. Play free. And if you get in third and long situations, then the team is going to have to have answers to try and respond to that. And if it, obviously, if it gets to an extreme level, where you have third and longs every single time, well, then you're doing something wrong. But newsflash, we got third and longs every time right now. Because they can't run the ball. So don't be afraid to push the ball a little bit on first down. Is what I would say. You think they're overcoaching it? I think they're overcoaching. I think they're overthinking it. OK, well, yeah, I mean, I think it goes hand in hand with both of it right now. Because I went back, I went back and watched the online. They're now starting to tighten their splits down to go back a little bit of what they've done in the past. Joe, I got to tell you, man, I'm more on the fact that I agree. There's some injuries in there. But I think they're having a tough time with the scheme. And I think they're having a tough time because they don't have the reps that they've been able to practice in the scheme. I don't know if they can't run it. I just know this. They're not effective. Get into where they need to look.

1:41:26And what really's tipped me off is steam. Steam's not even getting up on these guys are struggling on getting on the second level. And if you want to run a stretch play, your center's got to get up on the mic. I know. I think the reason they move Cam Jerk, it's a left guard. Not only because they wanted him on Simmons, because they feel that he's healthier to get up on the mic when you want to run that stretch play. Well, dude, I mean, I do think they're struggling with the scheme. The one part about I would disagree with you would just be, I don't know that I would tie the injuries to the scheme. Like, I think you're right that one thing changes. So it's going to happen. I guess it's a tough sell when you frame it like that. I just, it doesn't feel to me like, in the game of football, a schematic approach can make that much of a difference in getting injured. You know, I mean, like, it's such a physical game. You're asking these guys to stretch themselves more than you are in a power game. I'd rather run the power game than to get myself, dude, there's more, there's more nagging injuries now on the old line than there's ever been.

1:42:29I know, but you think that scheme related? Goddard's also got her blocks too, right? Because here, yeah, but here's the one thing I push back on you on with. This offensive line was really beat up coming into the year. And that was in the old scheme. Jesus Christ. So like the years of the what, but I'm saying the years of the way they played previously, they can take a toll on the offensive line. Maybe not as much in the moment, but long term, the reason that we had concern about this offensive line is because the previous scheme really destroyed it. Maybe. I'll, I'll, I'll concede on that, but your tie-de-end has to block the edge. Your two guards in your center are injured now. You've lost Goddard and you've lost land in. Man, that's quite a coincidence, dude. Yeah. And Bartley's got a stinger now. I don't know, man. I mean, how come six and six of the nine guys are on offense? I mean, tell her, Stene, it came to her, because aren't that old, dude.

1:43:33We're not talking about old guys here. Yeah. I just, I mean, I know, but remember, I just think like there was problems with the health of the offensive line before this year, you know, and that's where I, that's where I would just like, I do think you're right to their struggle with the new scheme. And I'm not really so that it's helping this offensive line at all, because they look arguably look worse. They do look worse. Yeah. They do. I'm not so that it's helping, but again, maybe they figure it out a little bit better, maybe they get more comfortable with it. I do think more reps will help. I do think it's funny and like, I'm not a really big pattern on my own, back type of guy here, but like, you know, I've been saying all offseason that I think the past game is going to have to set up the run game. And that kind of looks like the early ML on this team right now is, the anyone's going to have to pass successfully in order for them to open up some things in the run game. And that's been the way it's starting to buy that. I'm starting to buy that too. And what Prince is talking about here,

1:44:34this is what I was trying to talk to Prince right here. Leant today were having trouble with land. Yeah, I heard that, Prince. That was a good. That was a good. That was a good. I think I, a prince. I didn't hear it. But this is exactly what I'm trying to draw up. Those are your landmarks. Right. Those are the landmarks that they're having. Surprisingly, I can read Silly O's. Hey, look, look at it. See those animation. Those are the landmarks. Another favorite. Send that thing to AI and say, can you make a better graphic of this? It's supposed to be an offensive and defensive line. Prince is right, though, man. These landmarks are fucking really. And there's no doubt. Now, I want to ask you about Barclay here, heading into Monday night. You still think Barclay's got tread on the tires? I do. I'm getting a little bit more concerned, though, as this stacks up. You know, the offensive line's been really bad. So nobody's really been able to run that good right now. But, you know, I mean, he is almost 30. And running backs typically don't last that long.

1:45:36Now, I do think Sequan is a rare caliber player and athlete to where he could be the one that could last longer. But I'm still not sold that he's out right now. I mean, I think this offensive line is a big problem. And if it got fixed, I don't think Barclay would have as much of a problem. My one concern with Barclay is I do think he's thinking too much or hesitating a little too much. And maybe looking for the holes too much. You have an offensive line that's not dominant. You're kind of going to have to learn to take what's there or create what's not there. And bash your head through between the garden and tackle and try and pick up three or four yards here and there. So I think Barclay's maybe a little bit hesitant. I want you to say what you just said again that you think that Barclay's hesitant. And he's unsure. Is that right, what you said? Well, I think he's looking for what was once there. And it's not there. Let me stop you there. Well, if Langsayne or having troubles with landmarks,

1:46:39the reason that he's also having issues on being able to read blocks and where the holes are, you know the problem is, if Langs have problems on hitting landmarks, that's also going to slow up the back on creating run lanes. Because there's nothing there. If the offensive line doesn't get to the landmark, there's no hole for the right. There's no hole. He's running into the backside of Lane. Do you think, Shayquans? No. Try to, you think he's still got to try to. No, I don't think he understands what they're trying to do offensively in the blocking run game. I think that he's so used to what he did when he first got here. And it was so simplistic what Jeff did. I'm going to tell you something, Zee. I may be proven wrong on this. But by the end of the year, Stetlin's going to be proven right, that this group could not run that system, that they wanted to run. And if Barclay comes in at less than a thousand yards, because of it, there's going to be some question marks here. And what happened?

1:47:41Because you're right. You just got through saying, I think he's hesitant. He's like thinking too much. And well, if Langs thinking too much, so sparkly thinking too much. Now, this also has to go with the quarterback too. Maybe the quarterback has got to take him out of bad plays. And putting him into more winnable plays. And that means throwing the ball more. Well, I agree with that. But the schematic of change that the Eagles are running, I don't think you can put on Jay. Well, not that, but I'm saying like even if he's changing plays, they've got to take the responsibility of quarterback because it puts you in good situations. I agree. But you think they're giving him that leeway? Because I think they would hold that. I don't know that. Jayland's going rogue because he wants to throw the ball in first down. Meanwhile, sake wants running into the back. Shit, I think the reason he went off the reservation in the first two weeks is because you two on oh. That's right. But look, I agree with you. I would be open to Jayland doing more of that,

1:48:42especially on early downs. But I do wonder what the team, because the team approach appears to be. We want to establish the run early. And this is something that we kind of talked about all summer. Fixed first down. That was the common staying kind of coming out of the Eagles facility, even John was saying it. And John doesn't just say these things. I mean, people tell him stuff. And that's where that came from. And now maybe they're pushing it too much. And really, Jayland's the one who's making place. I mean, you know. Yes, yes, absolutely. Hey, dude, did you understand what I was trying to say here about Cooper DeGene and what they're trying to do to the kid here? And I think that's what Vicks push back is. Dude, if you put a guy in a safety spot versus putting in a guy where you can debate him being in a nickel corner or whatever, and you could put corner in that conversation, Cooper is going to get more money. You put a guy in a safety spot. Everyone's paid by positions, Andrew.

1:49:43They're not paid because you're the best player in the game. You're just not the only, this is what I don't get. Well, you're like, why are you not looking at Cooper is getting paid as a nickel because nickels don't make that much? I think that's why they want to make. I think that's why. Jaytsies don't make as much corners, but they do make more than nickels. The highest paid nickels, 13 million. 10. The highest paid safes, 30 or 25. So maybe how he does want to get him paid at least. Yeah, but that I'm not saying I disagree with you. I do think they'll take care of Cooper, but I'm looking at 25 million. Honestly, Cooper has to, Cooper is going to have to have a good year to get 25, I think. 1:52:46The best defenseman on the ice are the ones you never hear about. And that's kind of how I feel about Quinion. I know he might not make as many splashy plays or he doesn't have the intersections, but like don't fall for that. Look at Trayvon digs, look at the Ron Blan. Those guys make big splashy plays all the time. Look at CJ Garner Johnson. And I like CJ, but he's not the best of the best. He's a splash player guy. You want the guy that's good play to play. Every single play consistently throughout a game. They don't even attempt the throw to work for Quinion much anymore. I mean, the one play they beat him on, I think last week was the damn wheel route or slant route or drag route where they dragged Quinion all the way across the field. All the way across the field. They got five yards. I'm like, congratulations. I mean, Quinion does not get beat. He's beyond focused locked in. Yeah, I think he's going to be the top pick corner when he gets his new deal. And I think he should. I think he's earned it.

1:53:46Who are you more down on this year so far and to start? And it's early. Carter Davis. Good question. I don't think I'm down on either. I would say because of the expectations of Carter, I would say Carter a little bit more because I I think we've all been waiting for Carter to be this next level defensive tackle. And I think we've all seen flashes of it. Feel if 500 made a good point in your program on Wednesday. He did make plays. He had the block field or the block point after he had the big sack. So he's making plays. But Carter, I've been waiting for him to become this elite level defensive tackle. And I don't think he's at that level just yet. It's easy to. Davis has been more of a slow climb. And we've really never seen him yet be a three down guy. So I think the concern the disappointment there is that maybe we projected he would become

1:54:50a three down player after the contract. And it looks like he's not yet. Now maybe it will be until more O'Jama leaves that he does that. But he's kind of the same guy he was last year. And that's a little bit disappointing. But my expectations for Carter are so high. So I probably have to go Carter, but it's pretty close. I think both of them have to have to handle their business a little bit better. Man, they got paid like the real leaders of that defense. You know, they got big shoes to fill. And they got to fill them. I think two things happened over the first eight quarters of football. Eagle fans got a sense of what a Premier DT looks like in Jeffrey Simmons. And the fact that Morrow Jones was out playing both of them. On your own football team that he's been more consistent. Now he may not make, hey, I'll tell you what, he may have saved that fucking game against Tennessee. That fucking sniff out play and he had a great play in that commander game too. I know the snipe out play was out of the commander game. What's the commander game? Okay. Dude, he's played, I mean, he's going to get him.

1:55:55He's going to get him. Listen, is he is he Carter talent? No, but man, I like he might not be Carter. I like people that deliver to mail come rain, sleet or snow, dude. And he might not be there. He might not be Carter talent, but just just personally like not analyzing the two players together. Just a personal thing. I love those stories more than I like. Yeah, Carter was the ninth overall pick in the draft and could have probably been the number one overall pick if there wasn't a baggage right. I'm at the draft like we know that Carter was going to be good. You have a seventh round pick in Morrow, Joma, who just shows up every year, gets better. He makes plays. I mean, that's that's such a great story. He's he's been unbelievable. And unfortunately, I think he's probably going to be going to be gone here from Philly. You look at Clint Hurnton, what he's done for Milton Williams and for Morrow, Joma. What a resume builder. And if you're how he rose, man, dude, Morrow, Joma and fucking Milton Williams,

1:57:01I don't know, man. I mean, I'm you know, how about this? They don't have the talent of Carter and Davis, but they play better than those guys. I just I mean, man, you know, it's one thing to fall in love with potential. I hate that word, Z. I just hate the word potential. You can say, you know how he's you know how Brian Flores stopped that Bears attack? Five man front. And he sees that as something that he believes Vic is going to go into that game with. Yeah, because if the Bears get a run game going, Zander, I don't give a fuck of case, Keynes, quarterback or not, they're going to move the ball. If they can run the ball and be effective running the football. So they're going to play hard on this morning too. I thought it was interesting. He said part of the floor is game plan. It's really worked early that now Ben kind of corrected it in the second half. But part of the game plan was the Bears really rely on running to that right side. Behind Darnell Wright and Jonah Jackson, the right guard right tackle. Maybe Vic does roll out the five man front tries to flank that side of field for some to go the other

2:00:09way. I think they're going to be even more limited. You know what obviously with the third turn quarterback in there. So to me, this is a big game, dude. Like, Vic can't. I don't think there's an excuse here. You can't let this team hang around with their third quarterback. You know they're going to run the ball. We all know they're going to run the ball. They're basically telling you they're going to have to run the ball. They're playing case kingdom who hasn't played a game in over a thousand days in the NFL. That's longer than Aaron Donald. I know. So, you know what I mean, they're going to have to run the ball. If you're a Vic, you got to come in ready to handle that. The Eagles have not been great stopping the run. I'm sure they're seeing some stuff on tape and how they could exploit the Eagles in the run game. It's on Vic to not let that happen and the guys up front to not let that happen. So, to me, it's a Vic game and I think the offensive will be all right. I mean, I don't the Bears defense isn't all that great. So I think good Eagles will have their way. But we got to see how that looks too. Don't you agree that if you had to pick one coach you didn't want to see

Look at what he's done, dude. You had a statue, quarterback, in Detroit, and you had a mobile quarterback in Chicago. And he's figured it out. The Caleb Williams looked like dog shit before Ben Johnson showed up. He was not good. They were not anywhere near and all of a sudden, he moved the sticks. What do you think for Jerrick? He got Jerrick off of $53 million annual pay. When people thought he was a stopgap guy because they moved off his staffer. I don't believe Ben Johnson has ever in his coordinator or coach ever had coaching career ever had to play a back-up quarterback. Ever had what? Start a backup quarterback. No, I don't think so. I don't, I don't, I don't, I don't. But he had one quarterback who was a cast off

2:02:13and he had another quarterback who people were doubting. And he's never had a backup. Never had a backup start in a race career as an OC or head coach. Jerrick off and Caleb Williams both played every single play. If you're every single start of everything we're in. If you were going to rank him as a play-calling head football coach in this league, where would you put him? Top three. Top three. Easily. Yeah, probably two. That's the guy you want. Maybe one. But those guys don't decide whether to have a four man front or a five man front. So that's Vic. And I think that Vic's gonna have to come in here and get put them in the right system and the right system, you know, the right scheme to kind of stop this run game. If they take away the run game, I don't think the barrison's gonna move at the ball. Do you think you're gonna learn more about your Eagles this week or next week? Next week with the Rams. For sure. But it's still early, you know, like I think it's always a work in progress. Like one of the things that to me has appeared to be true. And, you know, I watch more NFL football now than I ever did, grown up or even like a New Year's past because, you know, it's my life now. It's my job. It's how I make my living. No, you got to handle on it. I think you know, but I think one of the things that has really become proven to me, especially in these last three years is there's really not a lot of

2:05:15transitive properties in the NFL in terms of week to week. Like you can play one, that's why I didn't like when you were like, well, you beat shitty teams, so that means you're shitty. It's like, you're right, they didn't perform great in that game. But they can also come back the next week and you could beat the crap. Look at the bears, right? They put up 59 points in week one. They come back the next week and have three. It is. And it's like every game is always to me going to have its own personal fights. Exactly. Styles make fights. Coaching comes into it personnel, weather, injuries, so many the backters and, you know, you don't you don't think that there was a coincidence that game was close between Minnesota and Chicago's because they're common opponent and because they draft to beat each other. And that's why that was part of that as well. Yeah, that's why that's why the commander game was always going to be close into Chicago or the New York games are always going to be close and an injury here and injury there. Yeah. You're you're drafting and you're signing players to beat your common

2:06:16opponent first. Why? You play him twice a year. Yeah. You've got more intel on those teams. That's why they've got more insight on those teams. Jalen hurts here, man. What does he have to do Monday night? Well, I think I think he's going to have to do what he's been doing to be frank with you. I don't know how good the offensive line is going to be out here. And I'm sure Dennis Allen, I believe their defensive coordinator, is that right? You bet. I think he's going to know obviously he's watching the tape. He's going to see where the weakness is. And to me, it's going to be Jalen's going to have to make more plays. I'm hoping it can get the run game going a little bit better. More plays with his legs or more plays with his arms. Well, I think that's that's going to come down to kind of the make up of the game. But he's been throwing the ball really well. I mean, I you know, if I were him right now, sometimes I think there's sometimes I think there's also benefit to like when a shooter's got a stroke and let him shoot, you know, let him heat check. And right now earlier in the early in the year,

2:07:18I think letting Jalen find that rhythm will give you great benefits in the long run. Now, maybe I'm wrong about that. Maybe I'm overstating it. But this year to me, this year looks to me like Jalen's got it load up the backpack, load up the rock sack, and carry this thing as far as he can take it. And hope that by the time you get to the end and you're still, you know, trekking along, you got a band of people who are helping you out. Because right now it's really hasn't he hasn't had that much help. And, you know, I'm putting my eggs in the basket of the guy who's leading us to victory right now. So I'd let Jalen play, man. I mean, I'd let him throw that ball. I'd let him keep finding that rhythm and that groove. I really hope they don't go turn into this. I really hope they don't use these picks against them. And they go, oh, go back to risk of worse. So go back to this because the game was close and he had two picks. Jalen's throwing the ball exceptionally well right now. Do not take the ball out of his hands. He will learn from the picks.

2:08:19He will get more comfortable in this offense. Don't optimize for week three and four. Optimize for late in the year when you really want to take it to teams and you really want to be playing your best ball. Do you know for me what it looks like in the how he's playing? It looks like when you go downtown you go to center city and you're watching dudes playing hoop out there versus guys sitting there playing horse. Okay. The street bar, right? Like, yeah, and he's going out there and he's playing like he's at center city, hooping it up out there with everybody and making plays because you know why? There's not really a priority where you have to get the football too like you did with AJ. Whereas before you have to play horse kind of in a way, right? Your structure. You're more cookie cutter. Yeah, to me. I'll tell you the biggest thing that I see with him. It's more that he's comfortable. Oh, there's a comfort. There's a comfort. There's a comfort that he has, right? Honestly, so that's that to me is the best sign on Sean Manion early. Not really the schematics, not really anything. It's that the quarterback looks comfortable as hell.

2:09:20Maybe he's playing it. Right. I mean, that to me is in a way a testament to Manion and, you know, directly or indirectly. So maybe Hertz was the issue a year ago not buying into Kevin Batillo. And now he's learned something from a year ago where guess what? I don't think that I think no, I wouldn't put it. I wouldn't frame it like that. But I knew you would. No, no, no, well, well, a quarterback if you're going to buy into somebody, some people you buy into, some people you know? Yeah, but I think I didn't mean it in a negative way. Maybe he just doesn't know. Maybe he just went like this. I don't fucking believe this guy. Well, and I agree, but Jaylin also he doesn't say much, but sometimes he says a lot without saying much. And last year if you read between the T-leaves of what, and this is just my interpretation, if you read between the T-leaves of what he was saying last year, he never bought in because he never believed the process that needed to proceed that was there.

2:10:23And he didn't like which into something they had never worked on. He didn't buy into it because there was no explanation for it. There was no, you know, remember, they alienated Stalin in the middle of the year two. Yeah, he did. And Jaylin is maybe you can maybe even with the posting of the previous quarterback coach, maybe Jaylin was more on the side of Jeff Stalin. And like, hey, what are we doing here? Why are we making these grandiose changes and expecting to have better results when really this isn't what we're built to do or what we've worked on doing? You know, stick to what we've done. And I think Jaylin has approached this year credit to Sean where he's explained why they're going to do this, not just what they're doing. This is what we're trying to set up. This is how we're trying to set it up. He's bought into it. They've worked on it early. And I think he's now, you know, he's more, he's ready to play offense this way. And I don't think that's a bad thing on Jaylin's part. I mean, to make big switches like that, sometimes doesn't lead to the right results. And you know, maybe Jaylin was right, but I agree that it did come off a little odd in the moment.

2:11:27How about this? Do you think having multiple teachers makes you smarter or makes you more apprehensive not to trust what they're asking you and teaching you to do? And what I mean by this is, I mean, he's had so many voices in his head. I mean, he's had so many different angles on how Xander, if you, like, like, if you read a newspaper, and I give people this analogy all the time, the way I read the Miami Herald, or the way Rush Limbaugh used to read the Miami Herald, two different things, well, that's like reading a playbook and reading a game plan. Yeah. You're going to read it two different ways. Is it so that they hired Manion because he was going to have more of a cerebral connection to Hertz? And maybe how about this? Like, because the only other guy, and I saw Prince put it in here, there's only one other guy that had a cerebral connection with him, and that was Shane. And those two guys were like, again, that's Shane, RPO system. It's something complicated, but they connected and they understood one another.

2:12:28Especially situationally, maybe the strength of Manion's not going to be schematically. Maybe it's going to be connecting to the guy, and the two guys being on the same page with one another. Hey, dude, I could drop fucking play up and have the smartest guy in the room. But if I can't hear you, what's the point of having to play? Yeah. I mean, I think to answer your original question about, you know, does the multiple teachers thing help you or hurt you? I think it depends on the student. It depends on the player. It depends on who's being taught, you know? And I think what he's saying is... But he's a standoff, it's kind of guy. I mean, and what I mean is also a coach's guy, you know? But what I mean, but what that also plays in, or my dad wouldn't coach me that fucking way. Well, but I think that in a way, Jaylin is not... He's not like you're leading a sheet to the slaughterhouse. He is a smart student, you know? And I think guys that have experience and have, you know, you're going to have to have a reason for why you're doing something. If you have somebody that's a professional... I love people who have reasons why they do shit. Exactly. Like you can't just expect... He's not a child.

2:13:28He's not a kid that you're leading, you know, somewhere that he doesn't know where he's going. He doesn't know any better. He does know better. So if you're going to try and teach him and get him on board, you better have reasons for why you're doing that. You better have backings and explanations and things like that. And I think Jaylin, you know, could have that, to be honest. And the other part of it I would say would be... I don't have a problem if it becomes more about that at this point of Jaylin's career. I mean, we talked yesterday about the contract, and it's like, if Jaylin is getting to this phase of his career, right? Don't you want your quarterback in a way to have more of a say over the offense than some guy teaching him like he's a first-year student? Correct. He's not a first-year guy. He's not Drake May. I want him as... For in your seventh year. Exactly. The later, in these other great quarterbacks careers who played a long time, they got more and more control as the years went on. And sometimes, by the way,

2:14:29they had to upset their coach in game to get what they want. So I think that's going to have to be something that people get more used to. And I think that's a good thing. I mean, you want Jaylin, in my opinion, to take more of the reins at the line of scrimmage. If that's the way it goes, I'm going with that and happy with that. And I'll give you a situation. And I believe that that happened this year in the NFL. I think Josh Allen went like this. For us to go further, we've got to have Joe Brady as our head football coach. And instead of having that conservative defensive minded coach, and Sean McDermott with two minutes in the game, and two minutes at the end of the ballgame, I need to have a guy that's going to be balls to the wall. We need to have no risk at no risk at kind of mentality. And we need to go win some football games. Hey, dude, you hired a guy that has averaging 11 wins. Every year, he was the head coach in Buffalo. You hired a guy to elevate because why? Maybe the quarterback up there, finally has complete autonomy of what he wants to do in that auto. And that's what you're seeing in Philadelphia right now with,

2:15:30Jalen, is that once you got rid of AJ, once you got rid of AJ, the other co-dependent in that huddle, that's his huddle now. It is, but the only difference I would say there is, I think we're showing this. There's no one else's. I don't know. I think with the Eagles, it's like a force, it's like a slow drip. Nick has been slowly opening in a little bit more and a little bit more. And then like the second something bad happened, he closed it back up like 23, right? He's opening it slowly, slowly, boom, seven picks him in the first four games, boom, shut the faucet, go back to the run game. And I think he's got to be able to kind of cross the player, you know, because like this, this coming here, part of the show, I don't think Jalen showed enough to be trusted. And what I would say to that would be, if that's honestly the way you feel, then they shouldn't be investing in the player to begin with. Because if I'm going to, if I'm going to invest and believe in a player,

2:16:30I've got to be willing to die on that hill and sink with that shit. Or else you're teetering the fence, like you always say about sports talk, have a take. You got to play or invest in the player and believe in them. If it doesn't and you fail, you know you gave it your all. And then you know when you need to pivot off. If you go half in here and half in there, you never really know. And look at where we are right now. We still don't know. Is it Jalen's offense? Is Nick's offense? Is it Manion's offense? Was it Kevin Patulos fault? Like you got Jalen hurts. He's about to get a brand new contract probably at the end of the year coming up. Dude, invest in the hill. Shit, I'll get off the path. You know, and if you're not going to, if you're not going to give it, put it in his hands and allow him to become the player. You're paying him to become. Then why are you paying him in the first place? So I think you got to commit to it. And I think they're showing maybe they're ready to do that. Let me ask you something organizationly before we get Mike Northown here in a minute.

2:17:33So I want to go back to a famous conversation. I think it was more responsible for the success in the WINGLA. Bella check or Brady? Well, I think Brady, but I also don't think you can, I don't think you have that without. You think Tom could have been as successful. He did win a Super Bowl in Tampa, but do you think he could be as successful as he was without that? Nope. You think Jalen? And I think vice versa the same thing. Okay, so you don't think Jalen could be as successful without Nick? No, well, I was going to say, I don't think Bill could have had the success without Tom. Like to me, I hate this game because I think people always try and put it in one what one. Like, well, you could replace this guy with this guy and you would have had the same success. Or in this case, Brady could have had a different coach and so would have had some.

2:18:35No, I think they're tied at the hip. You can't ask anybody who cooks or who bakes. You can't get rid of an ingredient and I expect to bake the same cake. All right, you can't get rid of a vanilla extract and expect to have a good cake. All right. To me, Jalen and Nick are the ingredients right now and you think Jalen could win? I don't think either of them would have as much success without the other. So you don't think Nick could, you don't think Jalen would have the success? Well, I think Jalen deserves, I mean, Jalen has been successful, but no, I don't think he would have the level of success that he's had in Philly somewhere else. I don't. And Nick's a part of that. I mean, whether people don't want whether people wanted to admit that or not, you, I could speak to you, but you wanted to admit that they're not. Like Nick is the head coach of this very successful football team. And if you're of the belief that you could just swap them out for anybody and they would repeat that success, well, then that's your opinion. I would disagree with that opinion. I don't think that's how it works. I don't, but by the way, like was, I don't think you could swap Jalen hurts

2:19:35how it's just any quarterback, even somebody that you deem a great and have the same level of success. That's not how I don't think it works. You think the front office believes that? I think they believe they can have success again, but I don't think they can, they can have success the same way. And I think they know that much. The way they were successful in 2017 and 18, there's a lot different in the way they were in 22 through 24. And I think if they lost Jalen, how is it different GM? How is it different GM that he was? He's a much different GM. I grew that I grew that, but I think things are going to change. You can't you can't expect to change the most important component of a football team and expect to just, all right, we're re up. Like, dude, I don't care how good of a suit you are. I don't care how good of a GM you are. You know, to me, it takes the, where's I don't have it anymore in my new office? My miracle poster. I'm not looking for the best players, Craig. I'm looking for the right players. And I think that's a big part of it. And the right players, the right pieces of an organization,

2:20:39you know, it takes a rare combination to have this level of success. You know, it wouldn't trade out either of them. You know, it's funny, man. My, my, my coach used to recruit. And Jimmy Johnson used to recruit. And he'd go out and he'd look at guys that had one stars, two stars. And I used to ask him, I go, Russell Maryland was recruited by one guy. Russell Maryland turned out Zander to be the number one overall pick by the Cowboys one year. And I went, I remember he was only recruited by Toledo and Miami. Then we had Cortez that was recruited by everybody. All of us, there were guys that were recruited. And I go coach, how do you know what guys are looking for? And he goes, easy. I recruit everybody. But I sign only players that fit what I'm looking for. He goes, I'll look at everybody, dude. But there's only a certain amount of guys that, to me, and you know what he said, the most important thing, I want players who don't make dumb mistakes. He never said I want guys who make exceptional plays.

2:21:39He was always, I want, I want guys who are stupid. I want guys who are never going to be making those awful plays. And I think that's one of the reasons that he was successful at both levels. Both college and pro, he went, he went championship, said both levels. Yeah. He'll chip charts in one, when national championship says a player as a college coach and also as NFL coach. That's pretty remarkable. That's pretty remarkable. And it was all about the people around him. Hey, is Mike North? Is he connected? No, I can't see him. It says the boys just don't see him. Like that likes Sabin. He reminds me of Sabin. I have to say the book. I read it all the time. Jalen is just like that. And I think Nick as a coach has learned a lot from that. And I think it's I think it's helped Nick. So you think Nick has benefited more from Jalen than being around how he. I wonder how in this personnel. And how he like you do you played the game. Okay, okay, but how is also part of the hiring process when it comes to coordinators?

2:25:51Yes, but I think I think Jalen has had a bigger influence on Nika as a coach than how he yes. I think how he look. I'm not I don't say to take away from how he's built a great organization and does a great job at the roster. But who taught Nick how to be a CEO coach then? Being in the battle though is different than overseeing the. No doubt. No doubt. That's a fact. But that's where I think Nick has learned from Jalen. But Nick was never a CEO coach. He hadn't had that style. He didn't know anything about that. I mean, you tell me where did he learn that from being a CEO coach? Didn't he learn that being a CEO coach? I think some of it is I think some of it is already owner. Maybe I mean, I think some of it is naturally learned on the job. I listen, I think head coaches, they're just like head coaches in quarterbacks and systems. They're all needed. You have to have the trifecta. I mean, do you think you really have the best GM on the planet? Right now in Chicago, you surely don't have the best ownership in Chicago. You you you have none of that in Chicago right now. And head coach is trying to change that dynamic.

2:31:56He's one of the most mentally tough quarterbacks and they played hard. These guys, but Mike gets Chicago. Manders LA, you don't have to have that persona. I agree. This is Chicago. Well, we just had a guy get hit in the face with a 100 mile an hour fastball. Breggman and he batted today. He played today. So that's Chicago to me. That's exactly right. I brought it up on my AM1000 show. Here's a guy that was an inch away. If it goes higher, he's Tony Keneh Gliero getting an eye-rememberable folks. So yeah, it didn't look good. That's all I'm going to say. And if he plays this week, he wasn't hurt. I think he could, I think in my heart, he could almost play, but why chance it and why make him look even weaker. Mike, because it hurt his place in his persona in Chicago. Well, you know what really, you know what aggravates me? I think people respect him.

2:32:56I respect him. I've grown to love the guy. And then I hear people say, oh, people are hating on him. I hate that phrase. No, you're allowed to love somebody. You're allowed to like somebody. You're allowed to hug somebody and still have disagreements or still don't like the way that they portray themselves. And I thought, bring into card out. Look, somebody said you never played. Sure I did. I pulled hamstrings. Everybody at your degree one degree tried a bad one once, took me six weeks. Then I had another one, it took me three weeks. Bottom line is he overreacted. He cried. And I said this last week, men cry and women fight now. And that was a perfect example. What's he crying? You put the towel over your head. That was the portrayal of a man that was told he was going to be out for the year. I thought it was her squirrel over again. I was like, oh, 1950's, it takes one into head.

He's been telling everybody he was going to put up 37 points again.

2:34:58You know, he's been, he's the guy walking around with the shirt off. He got humbled and people want to beat him. And I know Philadelphia. I have everybody ready to show. Anyway, I do. I do know that Philadelphia has a revenge game in their hearts here because we handed it to him last year. Too 81 on the ground, Mike. People forget that. Yeah. The Mets weren't supposed to be in the playoffs. Chicago melted down. That's right at the end of the year. What if they didn't know if you had a wild card that Cubs were to made it? They would have made it.

2:45:10They would made it. So it's so funny to say they got goggles on and they're walking around. And like in the 70s, you'd be gone. Well, I think this could be consoles last year. So they got a better chance of going through the American. We've been the Cubs have of knocking off those teams in the Nassau. They met each other in Green Bay and they were sitting there and he was sitting there listening to Wellington. This is true story. And they're at dinner and he looks at Wellington and he goes.

3:03:33They were going to play him that weekend in a championship game. They were supposed to become the New York Giant's head coach. He looked at Wellington and he goes, excuse me, I have to go to Bathambe right back. He walked out the back door and left Wellington, Maris sitting there at the at the dinner table. The guy comes back and says, yeah, Vince told me to tell you that. He's going to kick your ass tomorrow championship game and he's not going to New York. He's staying in Green Bay. Anybody that saw the movie Ted, okay? Vince Lombardi dressed up like the man dressed for coaching like the manager of a grocery store. You know, and that's how they should do. I'd like to see the coaches come back and dress any way they want. Okay. And so we're in the...
