Erik Tolman’s Resilient Major League Debut | MLB News

After a grueling comeback from a devastating leg and foot injury that paralyzed his foot for over a year, Erik Tolman is finally getting his shot in the majors. The Nationals called him up, sending down Yovanny Cruz to make room, as Tolman’s resilience and grit shine through despite setbacks—including missing all of 2024 and battling a high walk rate early in his career. Now pitching as a reliever in Triple-A, he’s striking out batters and generating ground balls, showing he can get outs even if his ERA isn’t sparkling yet. This is more than just a roster move—it’s a triumph of perseverance.
